Introduction
It's the year 2020. Nearly 20 years since the cold war ended in a victory for the Soviet Union. The Cold War in this timeline was far bloodier. The early 1970s saw a limited nuclear war in the Pacific between the US and China, which led to China being partitioned between a pro-Soviet regime and a pro-American regime. The 1980s and 1990s saw civil wars in France, Italy, Spain, and Greece, causing mass instability throughout the Western world. America itself finally collapsed after Marshal Law is declared in urban areas following 9/11. Now, America is a series of city-states, warlords, and small nations. Germany is under control of the GDR. Italy is split between a Communist North and Military Dictatorship South. France, Spain and Turkey have fallen to Military Regimes as well. Japan and both Chinas are still reeling from the Great Asian war. Syria, Mexico, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen are still in chaos and endless civil war. While much of the world is suffering, the Red giant is the sole superpower, but even Russia is facing problems as multiple potential leaders are calling for the resignation of General Secretary Zyuganov.
The World is falling apart at the seams.

The Soviet Union
"We will do all we can to ensure peace... but it war is imposed upon us we will be together shoulder to shoulder as in the last war to strive for the happiness of mankind" -Georgy Zhukov
The Soviet Union, as of 2020, is the sole world superpower. With China a poor, divided backwater, and America a fractured mess, the Soviet Union stands uncontested. It's influence now stands from the North Sea to Alaska, and from Greece to Svaldbard. The Soviet Union's near collapse in 1991 nearly ended the Red World Order, although the collapse of America in 2001 finally gave the Soviets their dominance over Eurasia. The only threats that stand in the way of Soviet dominance is a resurgent Japanese Empire, and a still hostile Britain. And despite its vast influence, the Soviet Motherland faces stagnant population growth, the global economic stagnation that's been going on since 2001, Islamic Separatists in the Stans and Azerbaijan, and a gridlocked Presidium and Politburo. This has lead to calls for Premier Zyuganov to resign and even some disgruntled Generals in the Red Army are planning to launch a coup and oust Zyuganov. Many Soviet millenial activists are now calling for Democracy, LGBT rights, Free Speech, and even Capitalism. All the while, an underground anti-Soviet movement led by Vladimir Putin is rapidly gaining supporters.
The Motherland is slowly decaying, like an unlucky civilian in Stalingrad.

The (Former) United States of America
"A house divided against itself cannot stand" -Abraham Lincoln
After the unification of Korea in 1950 and the Great Asian War of the 70s, American politics became increasingly polarized. The Carter administration was known as the "Last Stable Administration". America almost returned to Isolationism in order to keep itself stable, allowing for the European revolutions of the 80s and 90s. Things in America finally came to a head when two hijacked jets crashed into the world trade center in New York City. Suspicion fell on the Communist Party, and Marshal Law was declared in most Urban areas. Communist protests led to riots, led to open revolution, led to the Second American Civil War. By 2003, both the Communists and the Military began to collapse into smaller factions. By 2008, America is a patchwork of Warlords, Militias, Communes, City-states, Counties, and some small nations. Democracy is now a rarity in America. The only 2 nations that have some semblance of power are the Cascadian People's Republic (Western Oregon and Western Washington) and the Republic of Texas. The Soviets seized Alaska, Japan seized America's Pacific territories, and the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are under Canadian control.
The Stars and Stripes are shattered, and a shocked generation is left to pick up the pieces.

Asia
"All political power comes from the barrel of a gun" - Mao Zedong
The Great Asian war devastated the continent. 40 nukes hit China, 6 hit Japan, 2 hit Vietnam, and 1 hit the Philippines. After the bombs fell, China practically collapsed, leaving only the PLA to defend it from the US, and later the Soviets. China is now divided between the Republic of China in the South and the Chinese Socialist Republic in the North. Both Chinas are backwater dictatorships with awful living conditions and pitiful economies. Southeast Asia is still poor and dictatorial as well. Korea is still under the dictatorial Kim Jong Un regime and still seeking out nuclear weapons due to a resurgent Japan. Japan, unlike most of Asia, has mostly recovered from the Great Asian War, but it never forgets what China did. When America collapsed, Japan's constitution was altered to allow an actual standing army again, and soon invaded America's Pacific territories. Things only got more tense when the world economy stagnated and Ultranationalists won Japanese elections in 2012, abolishing Democratic processes and giving power to both the Emperor and the Military. Since the Ultranationalists took control, Japan has been developing many Weapons of Mass Destruction, including aggressive research into nuclear weapons and weaponized viruses. Japan has conquered many small Pacific nations including: Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Fiji, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, and Kiribati. They've even occupied the Philippines and forced Hawaii into their sphere of influence. More concerning is the fact that Japan vows to wage war against China as revenge for the destruction of Japanese cities in the Great Asian War. They also wish to re-conquer Korea and kick the Soviets out of the Pacific.
The Rising Sun has returned, vowing to scorch the Pacific once more.

Britain
"We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be," - Winston Churchill
The United Kingdom stands as Europe's last Democracy. But even this last Democracy is slowing turning into a National Populist Autocracy. Ever since the New Nationalist Party of Great Britain won elections in 2013, Prime Minister Nigel Farage has been consolidating power in the British Government. No one has yet to be able to stop him since most of Parliament and the British Public support him and his economic reforms due to the endless global economic stagnation since 2002. Farage is also popular among the people due to his strong anti-Soviet stance and willingness to defend Britain at any cost. The only things that could stop Farage is both a growing Labour backlash, and a New Royalist Party. Farage has also attempted to bring Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and other former British colonies closer into it's sphere of influence, with some success. Farage's government has plans behind the scenes however. Britain's generals are planning for a potential war with the Warsaw Pact. From planning the construction of nuclear bunkers across Britain, to even the development of Biological weapons, all for the day when war with the Soviet Union could occur.
Even if the world ends, Britons never shall be slaves.
