I don't know. I mean, East Zilch's post office isn't exactly a hopping place. A couple letters per year would not be missed...maybe.

Does the post office require a wayward mailman who keeps his deliveries in his twenty gallon hat?

Did anyone call for a crazy old prospector?
GRAND THEFT HORSE application

Name: John Westwood
Job: Miner/Prospector
Age: 54
Sex: Male
Appearance:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a1/Jeff_Bridges_by_Gage_Skidmore_3.jpg

Skills:
Desert travel, mining, prospecting
Stuff:
A pack mule, shovel, knife, pick axe, pan, several days worth of biscuits and jerky, $5 in gold dust, $15 in silver pieces, a loaded .44 Colt Dragoon, percussion caps, black powder, lead, and a bullet mold.
Goals:
To find the gold in them thar hills. Or other valuable metals. Whatever he can get.
Bio:
John Westwood was born in 1803, the tenth of fifteen children, in Virginia. His father was a veteran of the Revolution. He met and fell in love with a local girl, named Anne around 1821. They were married in 1823. At that time, his main source of income was farming. They, and their four children moved down to Texas in 1830, where they lived for the next fifteen years. John fought in the 1836 Texas Revolution. Around 1845, Anne took sick, and died. Their children had mostly moved out, and with nothing left for him in Texas, John went up to Missouri and joined up with a wagon train heading to Oregon. He worked as a hunter and trapper until the 1849 Gold Rush. When that happened, he went out in search of gold. Since then, he has wandered across the land, mostly in solitude, searching for riches, and wound up back in Texas. He often speaks of weird lights in the desert night, and strange creatures in the mountains. He is seen as a crazy, but harmless old coot.

GRAND THEFT HORSE application

Name: Yang Guo
Job: Outlaw
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Appearance:
Image

Skills: Squinting and being quiet. The last one partially because he's English isn't the best. However, if you after a few drinks wants to discuss politics (or even if you don't), then it doesn't apply.

Stuff: Two revolvers, bowie knife, cigarettes, a bible, the communist manifesto, horse, spurs.

Goals: Long term: Clear his name, become a self-made man, make the world a better place in the little way that he can, and screw with the establishment. Short term: Haven't decided yet, might try to assemble a gang and/or take over the town.

Bio: Yang Guo, or as most people call him, Django (because they can't pronounce his name (and don't realize that Yang is his surname either), which irritates him, especially when it comes from people who in return complain about his English without seeing the other side of it), is a Chinese immigrant and former railroad worker. He left his homeland to make a quick buck and then return, but it wasn't as easy as he had expectet it to be. The work conditions were terrible, and so was the racism. Yang vocally demanded better treatment, both for himself and his colleagues, many of which were his countrymen, and got a reputation of being a troublemaker. Especially since he was also critical about the methods the company used when it wanted to lay tracks across indian territory or even the homesteads of settlers. It eventually ended with him killing the foreman. Yang claimed self defence, but nevertheless he was now wanted for murder.

He fled to Texas, and hoped to build a peaceful future there, but so far that has been far from the case. Partially because of notorious bad luck, partially because of his own fault, and partially because of linguistic misunderstandings. For example, the first thing he tried was to be a cowboy, but he ended up joining a gang of cattle rustlers instead. Not that he minded it, the criminal lifestyle was the most freedom he had thus far experienced, and he didn't cared much for the Texas rangers anyway (as he sees it, they're not so much about upholding the law as they're about keeping Mexicans and natives (and of course black slaves) in check). Anyway, stuff happened, and his old gang is now dispersed. He recently slowly rode into East Zilch on his own.

RP sample: Here you go!

Leave here: Hang'em

Let me know if it looks too serious. I mean, yeah his backstory kinda is, but I see humour potential for him in the forthcoming adventures.

Only thing that's funny - did you realize you chose the exact same picture I chose for one of my NPCs, Buckaroo Bunjin? It's in spoilers so it's easy to miss. So I guess, don't worry about your picture. I'll go and change mine.

Thank you! It took me a long time to find an image I was happy with, and in by the time I found it I forgot that you already used it. Could be fun if they looked alike though.

Now that I think about it, I should maybe give him an instrument, to make him a little like Buster Scruggs. Or "Man with a Harmonica" but before he learned to be good at it. And of course a scene where he reacts to his own wanted poster.

I looked at this RP and was like yas.

GRAND THEFT HORSE application

Name: Sarah Stein
Job: Owner and bartender of the Stein Saloon
Age: 25
Sex: female
Appearance: Too big.
Image

Skills: Can brew a mean sarsaparilla, interpersonal skills, a great right hook, sewing skills, good with a knife, can also brew dubious alcoholic concoctions of dread effect.

Stuff: her saloon, her equipment for brewing things, a knife Sarah always keeps handy.

Goals: For now, Sarah just wants to run her saloon in peace, but bandits or cowboys with vendettas or shootouts or the general antics of the citizens of East Zilch always manage to ruin her day.

Bio: Sarah Stein was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She was raised to be the perfect Southern Belle, but she hated the life. When Sarah turned 18, she signed herself up as a mail-order bride to look for adventure in the West. She was supposed to go to a pioneer man in Oregon, but a filing error meant Sarah wound up in this one-horse town instead.

Sarah Stein decided to make the best of it, and eke out a living here in East Zilch. She channeled a life making illicit alcoholic drinks for her sisters' swains and opened up a saloon. She battled bandits, cowboys with vendettas, shootouts, the general antics of East Zilch, and the low expectations applied to her to become a respected and feared saloon keeper. Stein Saloon is the place to go in East Zilch for social gatherings, to see someone challenge someone else to a duel, get really drunk, or pick up some "painted Jezebels".
