This world has a fetish for shitty regimes. Sure I had one in store, but I was a democracy for the sake of a sense of diversity

Kind of hard to be a relevant world player as a democracy when you've as little population to work with as I do. :p

The Party has always been led by the Commissar, who is the original and best Revolutionary Socialist that will live forevermore in mankind's hearts. Everyone knows that.

Surrounded by Bolsheviks and Germans, fantastic.

It does be rough out here

Even then your democracy (as we found out) really isn't the most liberal of them hahaha.

somehow less liberal than the Military Junta that is the SAAR.

There is no need to distinguish between counterrevolutionary regimes. Different they may be on the surface, but the core of abuse and suffering they exist on is the same everywhere, except in the North Atlantic SAR!

My newspeak is getting a bit rusty... but from the looks of it it seems the Empire has been called a "very bad" something speaker... though I understood the last bits (Politburo uplifts serfs, destroys thoughtcrime).

The shameless Imperial liars have no fundamental understanding of Revolutionary Socialism, which is a highly undesirable situation. The Bureau of Truth must uplift their peasantry and reprogram the misguided thought criminals.

At least, something like that; some Newspeak concepts are quite hard to put into plain English. The language of North Atlantic SAR, Esperanto-B, is a completely different language to Newspeak (primarily because it's based on the Continental European languages instead of English), but it serves basically the same purpose and has basically the same characteristics.

Ahhh that is fair enough. Fits the purpose of Newspeak anyways: to create a vague and emotionless language for the masses. And oh boy Esperanto instead of English complicates things further (at least to English speakers).

No but it’s the most based democracy, cracking down on socially destabilizing groups is based.

I believe the SAAR is in fact much more socially liberal, if only because said issues were resolved centuries prior to its inception.

Great!

Now I have the interesting challenge of conquering the world with half a million in population and a Cold War era tech base...

...I think the only viable way is to channel my inner Himmler and spark some kind of nuclear war between the superpowers.

Hahaha now that sounds like a very Himmler thing to do!

In the meantime I will be making a linguistic map of the world if anyone is interested. Colors will be based off the toaster map scheme.

If Esperanto-B isn't depicted as Burgundian black I will denounce your map as counterrevolutionary.

Haha I'll make it a dark grey (black would mess with the borders) if that's fine with ya.

:p It'll actually be much, much harder for me than it was for TNO Himmler as well, what with the North Atlantic SAR not having very much of an intelligence service (we do have the best counter-intelligence service on the planet, though) and not having anything close to an acceptable understanding of modern politics.

Can a bunch of underarmed and overtrained fanatics successfully navigate the chambers of international politics and incite war between the major nuclear powers? Find out on the next chapter of Reykjavik Lullaby...

I mean if anything, there definitely already is war (at least of the conventional sort) on the horizon, so who knows what's going to happen?
