Extra Information/Quirks: After raiding and taking over Lysenko's Magnitogorsk facilities, the Dirlewanger Brigade received a large amount of pretty neat advanced scientific items. One major asset they possess are a number of "super-soldier" drugs and serums, which affects the consumer in a number of ways including though not exactly limited to: enhanced strength, enhanced stamina, heightened senses, pain immunity, an extreme adrenaline boost and fearlessness to the point of disregard of personal safety (with a number of additional side effects, including but not limited to insomnia, schizophrenia, extreme exhaustion, nausea, cardiovascular disease, strokes...well let me just stop there for now). With a factory inside the Magnitogorsk Black Mountain Research facility to manufacture the stuff and the former Magnitogorsk scientists forced to continue operating and developing it at gunpoint, providing a near limitless supply of super-soldier supplements, this has the potential to turn even the meekest of raiders into the most terrifying of berserkers. From the facility also came a large supply of various chemical weapons and potent poison gasses, their extreme deadliness already provenly tested on many innocent civilians to deadly effect giving the brigade yet another deadly weapon.

Oh yeah, the Dirlewanger Brigade have also discovered the secret to taming and riding bears, giving the Black Bandits access to a horde of bears to ride into battle.


Military Description The Dirlewanger Brigade is more of a loose federation than an organised military unit. At its core are 20,000 battle-hardened and well trained veteran Waffen SS soldiers (original members of the 36th SS Grenadier Division as well as other Waffen SS that fled alongside them into Russia), armed with high-quality German armaments and equipment which, though questionably maintained, are still of good enough quality and better than what most other Russian Warlord states and bandit groups have. Though they're still very much ruthless bandits and criminals, they still retain a semblance of military discipline. Meanwhile, the rest are made up of groups of mostly cutthroats, bandits, raiders and other villainous characters desiring to get a share in the profits. While many of them are former soldiers, some are simply desperate civilians wanting to get out of poverty. Armaments and equipment for these characters are much more varied: the best equipment, usually supplied by (first Lysenko's Magnitogorsk, then the Aryan Brotherhood) or plundered from (eg: the Ural League, Lysenko's Magnitogorsk and the Kazakh Warlords) other warlords, are typically reserved for either the Waffen SS members or the best soldiers of the group, consisting of both more modern armaments (like the AK-47) as well as surplus West Russian and late Second World War equipment. Meanwhile, the lower echelons of the Brigade are armed with a huge mishmash of weapons, with early and late WWII, WWI and even pre-WWI armaments. Many are also armed with makeshift weapons, from improvised firearms made of scrap and spare parts, to even primitive crossbows.

A loose hierarchy, with officers and NCOs, does exist, however, discipline is often lacking and many of the bandits are as likely to shoot each other as they are to shoot the enemy. With this in mind, though they are disorganised that doesn't mean they're stupid: many officers, of whom many are former veterans of the Second World War and the West Russian War, not to mention years of banditry, in the brigade are quite capable tacticians and leaders, though this doesn't make them any less ruthless or despicable.

The Black Bandits have also developed an affinity with hit-and-run and guerilla tactics, being able to hit a city behind enemy lines in one moment, and the next moment disappears by the time a response force arrived, leaving only burning ruins and defiled corpses. Intimidation tactics and misdirection are also quite a big thing with the Black Bandits, with rows upon rows of crucified and impaled bodies being not too uncommon a sight in wherever the Brigade travels.

History: The Dirlewanger Brigade was formed during the Second World War, during a time when it looked like Germany was about to lose the conflict. Requested by Oskar Dirlewanger, the formation was intended as a Bandenbekämpfung made up of poachers, though later it also recruited criminals of all kinds and POWs. The unit became infamous for committing all kinds of unseemly war crimes: from raiding to massacres, from mass burning to mass raping the unit waged total war across Eastern Europe and Russia. The unit earned an infamous reputation that disgusted even the most diehard National Socialists, with Heinrich Himmler himself reportedly saying "The Romans fielded German mercenaries and used their barbaric savagery to defeat their enemies, if the borders of Germania are to be secured, we must bring back that savagery in order to crush dissent in the Reich."

After the collapse of the USSR, the unit continued anti-partisan activities before finally being disbanded, with those of sufficient Germanic blood earning pardons while those considered subhuman were sent to labour camps. However, the beginning of the West Russian War changed all that. As the West Russian Revolutionary Front invaded Reichskommissariat Moskowein and the Third Reich's economy imploded, the Germans sent forces west to try and halt the Russian advance. As the Russian advance eventually paused into stalemate, desperate for extra manpower, the 36th SS Grenadier Division was reactivated with Dirlewanger again the head of the division. The division was quickly filled with many former members (some who survived the labour camps, and others who, after getting their pardons, quickly found themselves back in prison) as well as a host of new members, again made up of both criminals, POWs and foreigners conscripted into the division.

As the war progressed the SS under Heinrich Himmler, believing the Reich had begun decedant and had strayed away from its original purpose of Aryan supremacy, plotted a coup to take control of the country. SS divisions, including the 36th, would attack the Wehrmacht's rear as they pushed into Russia, crushing the much larger force and then marching back to Germania where they would overthrow the government and take over. Unfortunately for the SS, General Hans Spiedel would find out about the coup and launch a pre-emptive strike, crushing the SS. During the chaos, Dirlewanger, his men, and other units of the Waffen SS were forced to flee into the anarchic Russian wasteland in order avoid getting caught and crushed. Now free from the influence and restrictions of the Reich and stranded in the middle of hostile Russian territory, Dirlewanger and his men gave in to their inner instincts and desires, becoming bandits and raiders, with many of those same SS forced to join them in order to remain alive.

Soon Dirlewanger and his men began a rampage across the Southern Russia. Earning the nickname "Black Bandits," they carved their way across the many plains and mountains of the former motherland: pillaging and burning across countless settlements, murdering and raping tens of thousands, and forcing many into slavery to serve their own sick needs. Soon, the Black Bandits began attracting other bandit groups across Russia, and soon tens of thousands of unscrupulous characters rallied under the banner of Dirlewanger, earning the nickname of the "Bandit King." He crushed the elite hunters of the Ural League who had sworn to defeat him in their mountain bunkers, pillaged and razed the wealthy communes of Orenburg, plundering countless riches and countless more women, and turned on Lysenko and his Magnitogorsk Technocratic State, plundering his technology, decapitating the mad scientist and taking over his research facilities, forcing many of those same former scientists to work for him in producing more weapons of destruction.

With this power he continued to plunder across the motherland, raiding both Russian and Kazakh Warlords, from Vlasov's Samara to Fascist Khormtau, from Dragunov's Zlatoust to even as far as those crazy fanatics from the Black League in Omsk, all came to know and fear the name Dirlewanger. Eventually, Dirlewanger and his Black Bandits would find a...not an ally to say, but an employer, in the form of the Aryan Brotherhood. Deeming Dirlewanger and his Germans to be of good enough Aryan Germanic stock the Fyrer, Gutrum Vagner, would seek out Dirlewanger and -in return for a stable supply of armaments and vehicles from Permhaym's industrial factories and oil refineries- hired him to raid his many enemies. Dirlewanger agreed and with the ability to now better arm his vast cohorts of bandits went on a reign of terror across both Western Russia and Kazakhstan, cutting off supply lines and causing chaos for these many warlord states. Dirlewanger found himself on the cusp for greatness: soon he would be recorded in the history books as one of history's greatest conquers, on the level of Alexander, Caesar, Genghis Khan and Hitler themselves!

However his deal with the Aryan Brotherhood would falter and collapse as the now dominant West Russian state would be hit with a coup. Vagner was overthrown by a man by the name of Zigfrid Schultz who, establishing the state of Hyperborea, declared that the Russians were the true Aryan race and that the Germans weren't just not Aryans, but were under the control of the Jewish conspiracy itself! Suddenly the safety guaranteed for Dirlewanger and his caste of German officers turned from an advantage to a complete disadvantage, and Dirlewanger quickly turned his strength from the Khromtaun Kazakhstan to the south to this new arch nemesis in the north. It seemed that total war was about to kick off between the two primary forces of evil in Russia, when a bright light appeared one day...

He crushed the elite hunters of the Ural League who had sworn to defeat him in their mountain bunkers, pillaged and razed the wealthy communes of Orenburg, plundering countless riches and countless more women, and turned on Lysenko and his Magnitogorsk Technocratic State, plundering his technology, decapitating the mad scientist and taking over his research facilities, forcing many of those same former scientists to work for him in producing more weapons of destruction.

With this power he continued to plunder across the motherland, raiding both Russian and Kazakh Warlords, from Vlasov's Samara to Fascist Khormtau, from Dragunov's Zlatoust to even as far as those crazy fanatics from the Black League in Omsk, all came to know and fear the name Dirlewanger. Eventually, Dirlewanger and his Black Bandits would find a...not an ally to say, but an employer, in the form of the Aryan Brotherhood. Deeming Dirlewanger and his Germans to be of good enough Aryan Germanic stock the Fyrer, Gutrum Vagner, would seek out Dirlewanger and -in return for a stable supply of armaments and vehicles from Permhaym's industrial factories and oil refineries- hired him to raid his many enemies. Dirlewanger agreed and with the ability to now better arm his vast cohorts of bandits went on a reign of terror across both Western Russia and Kazakhstan, cutting off supply lines and causing chaos for these many warlord states. Dirlewanger found himself on the cusp for greatness: soon he would be recorded in the history books as one of history's greatest conquers, on the level of Alexander, Caesar, Genghis Khan and Hitler themselves!

However his deal with the Aryan Brotherhood would falter and collapse as the now dominant West Russian state would be hit with a coup. Vagner was overthrown by a man by the name of Zigfrid Schultz who, establishing the state of Hyperborea, declared that the Russians were the true Aryan race and that the Germans weren't just not Aryans, but were under the control of the Jewish conspiracy itself! Suddenly the safety guaranteed for Dirlewanger and his caste of German officers turned from an advantage to a complete disadvantage, and Dirlewanger quickly turned his strength from the Khromtaun Kazakhstan to the south to this new arch nemesis in the north. It seemed that total war was about to kick off between the two primary forces of evil in Russia, when a bright light appeared one day...

Land Lawyers)- basically the equivalent of a viceroy- would send K'ul (Leaders/representatives) to the unicameral K'adanggáay Kwaa Náay (Wise People Stone House/House of Wise People/Parliament), about 2 per Tlag at base, this amount was increased according to population. At the head of this Parliament was the Emperor himself, with the ability to veto things and appoint an appropriate amount (to population) of his own K'ul to the KKN as to represent the Tlag of his demesne. Major Industries / Economic sectors: Furs, Fish, Lumber, Shipbuilding, Ice (ice trade got resurrected with the demise of easily gained refrigerators), alcohol, and soap.
Amount of Industrialization : What is industrialization?
Economic Description : Primarily an export economy prioritizing the exploitation of the bountiful natural resources in the area. The collapse of much of the exploitative infrastructure needed for large-scale harvesting of fish during the 1st Event resulted in salmon and the like booming in population, and the growing Xaadas Tlagaay has exploited this fact and was and still should be a major exporter of fish products. Another animal that has gained a resurgence due to the 1st Event is the beaver, and with it came the fur trade; as the Empire is on a favorable position to exploit this resource and gain a monopoly over it, it has done so a long time ago. Then there's the lumber trade, pretty much a no-brainer as the Pacific Northwest is rich in various trees. Speaking of trees, we shift over to the shipbuilding sector within the Empire, what begun as the simple making of war canoes in the 2500s to 2600s has diversified and strengthened into sailing ships and more. Finally, there's the ice trade, being traded southward into warmer climes. With the 2nd Event however, the collapse of the trading network is sure to bring the Empire down somewhat.

The soap and alcohol industries are more of a result of the molotov becoming a mainstay of Haida warfare, the latter for the fuel, and the former for thickener.

Technological Level : Early Renaissance (on the cusp of an Age of Exploration) with some anachronistic elements (rediscovered modern techs reused in a medieval environment, like Molotov cocktails)
Magic and other shenanigans? (If any exists) : Yes, mostly passive such as increased luck on the field (martial bloodlines and warrior lodge shenanigans), but sometimes active with disease affliction, demon kids, immortality (in all three situations, one way or another you can blame the satanists, but here they're low on influence and are kept around as some sort of boogeyman to unite the people behind).

Military Description

The Imperial Military is a small but elite force at most times, on land relying on an elite standing army of mostly light and heavy cavalry and supplemented by levies raised from the populace. On the seas the navy enforces the will of the Emperor and protects the various sea trade routes. The reintroduction of the Molotov cocktail (or as they call it, Ta'xet's Drink) in the tail end of the 2900s by the Haida military more or less revolutionized warfare, but its effects were not felt in the rest of the world as the 2nd Event happened.

Army: The average foot soldier is armed with a pair of Molotovs, a pike or a sword depending on the situation, and were either armored in plate and mail for heavy infantry or just mail and leather for lighter infantry. Skirmishing forces of lightly armored footmen with throwing spears, an arming sword, and more than 2 flame bombs are also prevalent. Ranged foot soldiers tend to be armed with the usual bow or crossbow, but specialized variants of slingers using specifically shaped flame bombs also exist and are used extensively.

The cavalryman is divided into two types, light and heavy. Experience in fighting steppe nomads in the Great Plains essentially turned the light cavalryman into a skirmisher and horse archer, armed with a bow and arrow, a spear or sword (again depending on the situation), and multiple flame bombs, they are used to whittle down the enemy before a decisive battle occurred. Here the heavily armored heavy cavalryman came into play, used mostly to trample a wavering enemy, some members of the army consider them to be glorified mop-up crew, but owing to their fearsome reputation (they won the war against the numerically superior Consumerists to the east, and are mostly comprised of nobility), only few dare to speak up these opinions. Armed with a lance, a sword, and a flame bomb or two for extra demoralization, with a suitable anvil, they become the hammer.

Extensively funded and enthusiastically supported by the nation and populace, this has allowed for the army to maintain a combined reserve and active force of 305,000 men-at-arms. Armies are intended for attacking the enemy's main force while Scouting and Skirmishing Forces are for raiding the enemy's lands, whittling down the enemy's forces, and prepare the enemy for a confrontation with the main army.

Navy: Even on the seas, the influence of Ta'xet's drink can still be felt. With a standing force of some 25 or so sailing ships armed with bowmen, marines, and flame bomb throwers, these are then augmented by various small ships ranging from small sailboats or even war canoes. Speaking of war canoes, these are the primary ship for coastal patrolling in Haida waters, and a small force for exploration ships has been formed in late 2999 order to explore the rest of the world.

Air Force: What the heck is an air force?

National Goals : Expand, get the economy up and running again, adopt the newfangled technology the upstreamers have, politically maneuver to not get annexed by other people, industrialize, and much more.

History : The history of the Xaadas Tlagaay is a difficult subject for history savants at best, a nightmarish tome of confusion at worst, and thus we'll save you from some of the suffering by simply skipping to the simpler time, after they finally attained the kingship of British Columbia under Hluuwee the Scholar, he died after breaking into the Columbia Basin on his last campaign. His eldest son, Hluuwee II would continue these campaigns but died due to suspicious circumstances, however the eventual consolidation all of pre-Event Washington State and much of Oregon was inevitable and was achieved by his brother Ghaltsaakw, who then formed the Xaadas Tlagaay (or as the pre-conquered Californians called it, Cascadia), upon his death in 2802 the empire had expanded into much of Idaho.

Then came the Just Emperors, Hluunaagad I, the brother of Ghaltsaakw, and Chee Xial Taaiixou his son, who organized the messy internal frameworks of the empire into something more coherent while expanding past the Rocky Mountains, breaking into northern Montana and southern Alberta. It was under Chee Xial Taaixou's son's reign, the conqueror Hluunaagad II- oft called the "Soldier-Child" as he was already leading campaigns even during his long regency- that the dominance of the Xaadas Tlagaay was established on the East Coast and on the Great Plains. Under his 30 year reign the empire's borders would stretch from Fort McMurray in the north to Baja California in the south, and from Juneau in the west all the way to Minneapolis in the east, that latter-most fact ensuring a future conflict with the then numerically superior Deitscher Reich in the east. And these conflicts came right after his death in 2878.

Under Yahl I Gwaawaas, the third son and only surviving son of Hluunaagad II, then only recently 16 years of age, the Xaadas Tlagaay fought a long war with the Deitsch, eventually emerging victorious after a series of brutal battles near Winnipeg and northern Minnesota. This earned him the nickname of "the Victorious", well earned considering he fought and won battles where they were outnumbered 2 to 1. He made a quicker follow-up war in 2920, annexing all of Deitscher Manitoba and later on subjugating much of northwestern Canada in 2928. His death resulted in Yahl II Hinku inheriting the throne. A scheming and soft-spoken man earning him the moniker of "the Whisperer", his 12 year reign mostly focused on consolidating the gains of Hluunaagad and Yahl I Gwaawaas, establishing viceroyalties and slowly but surely whittling down the amount of hereditary titles in the Empire as to ensure power laid within the hands of the Emperor.

His second son, the supposedly mad Yahl III Gwaawaas the Flayer inherited the throne and nearly threw everything into jeopardy with his antics, destabilizing the realm and almost losing a rebellion in California. He did manage to conquer much of Arizona, Sonora, and New Mexico and incorporate them in the empire during his brief 2 year reign. His only child and son, Yahl IV Hinku would consolidate the gains of the Xaadas Tlagaay further, while also living a virtuous life inspired by the Cetics of California and the Neo-Gnostics of Colorado, earning him the nickname of "the Holy". Dying without any children in 2966, the throne went to his uncle and Yahl II Hinku's fourth son, Guulaas. Under him warfare would be changed with the rediscovery of the molotov cocktail near the end of his reign, but other than that and the subjugation of Alaska under his reign, not much of note occurred.

Finally under Hluunaagad III's reign, a general expansion of the military occurred and on year 3000 a celebration to commemorate the new millennium was held in T'awts, drawing many people to it. And then everything in Canada disappeared, and with it the capital.

Other : 1st Event- the event that caused much of the world to revert back to the medieval era.

Navy: Even on the seas, the influence of Ta'xet's drink can still be felt. With a standing force of some 25 or so sailing ships armed with bowmen, marines, and flame bomb throwers, these are then augmented by various small ships ranging from small sailboats or even war canoes. Speaking of war canoes, these are the primary ship for coastal patrolling in Haida waters, and a small force for exploration ships has been formed in late 2999 order to explore the rest of the world.

Air Force: What the heck is an air force?

History : The history of the Xaadas Tlagaay is a difficult subject for history savants at best, a nightmarish tome of confusion at worst, and thus we'll save you from some of the suffering by simply skipping to the simpler time, after they finally attained the kingship of British Columbia under Hluuwee the Scholar, he died after breaking into the Columbia Basin on his last campaign. His eldest son, Hluuwee II would continue these campaigns but died due to suspicious circumstances, however the eventual consolidation all of pre-Event Washington State and much of Oregon was inevitable and was achieved by his brother Ghaltsaakw, who then formed the Xaadas Tlagaay (or as the pre-conquered Californians called it, Cascadia), upon his death in 2802 the empire had expanded into much of Idaho.

Then came the Just Emperors, Hluunaagad I, the brother of Ghaltsaakw, and Chee Xial Taaiixou his son, who organized the messy internal frameworks of the empire into something more coherent while expanding past the Rocky Mountains, breaking into northern Montana and southern Alberta. It was under Chee Xial Taaixou's son's reign, the conqueror Hluunaagad II- oft called the "Soldier-Child" as he was already leading campaigns even during his long regency- that the dominance of the Xaadas Tlagaay was established on the East Coast and on the Great Plains. Under his 30 year reign the empire's borders would stretch from Fort McMurray in the north to Baja California in the south, and from Juneau in the west all the way to Minneapolis in the east, that latter-most fact ensuring a future conflict with the then numerically superior Deitscher Reich in the east. And these conflicts came right after his death in 2878.

Under Yahl I Gwaawaas, the third son and only surviving son of Hluunaagad II, then only recently 16 years of age, the Xaadas Tlagaay fought a long war with the Deitsch, eventually emerging victorious after a series of brutal battles near Winnipeg and northern Minnesota. This earned him the nickname of "the Victorious", well earned considering he fought and won battles where they were outnumbered 2 to 1. He made a quicker follow-up war in 2920, annexing all of Deitscher Manitoba and later on subjugating much of northwestern Canada in 2928. His death resulted in Yahl II Hinku inheriting the throne. A scheming and soft-spoken man earning him the moniker of "the Whisperer", his 12 year reign mostly focused on consolidating the gains of Hluunaagad and Yahl I Gwaawaas, establishing viceroyalties and slowly but surely whittling down the amount of hereditary titles in the Empire as to ensure power laid within the hands of the Emperor.

His second son, the supposedly mad Yahl III Gwaawaas the Flayer inherited the throne and nearly threw everything into jeopardy with his antics, destabilizing the realm and almost losing a rebellion in California. He did manage to conquer much of Arizona, Sonora, and New Mexico and incorporate them in the empire during his brief 2 year reign. His only child and son, Yahl IV Hinku would consolidate the gains of the Xaadas Tlagaay further, while also living a virtuous life inspired by the Cetics of California and the Neo-Gnostics of Colorado, earning him the nickname of "the Holy". Dying without any children in 2966, the throne went to his uncle and Yahl II Hinku's fourth son, Guulaas. Under him warfare would be changed with the rediscovery of the molotov cocktail near the end of his reign, but other than that and the subjugation of Alaska under his reign, not much of note occurred.

Finally under Hluunaagad III's reign, a general expansion of the military occurred and on year 3000 a celebration to commemorate the new millennium was held in T'awts, drawing many people to it. And then everything in Canada disappeared, and with it the capital.

Government Description: The CSA parallels the original pre-civil war US Government at multiple points. At its core is the legislature, the "Continental Congress of the Working Class" (more simply known as the Worker's Congress). A bicameral legislature with two houses, the House of Unions and the House of Industries. In the former, representatives from the various Bourse du Travail of the nation converge here to debate and pass legislation, the number of representatives determined by both population and number of Syndicates inside the Bourse du Travail, and with representatives elected directly by the local unions and syndicates. In the other, the House of Industries, it is the various National Industry Federations here that confer and discuss matters to pass legislation, with each National Federation, no matter its size or importance, possessing two representatives and therefore two votes. In both the Industrial Democratic Committee oversee, coordinate and help mediate the various processes and discussions that take part in these two respective legislative bodies. It is because of this legislative power and the nature of these bodies that the IDC also looks over the wider economic organisation of the nation as well, helping to coordinate the various National Federations in working together and help organise the nation.

The other branches of government -the executive and the judicial- work very much in similar ways to the previous US government too, with the legislative branch passing legislation, the executive executing legislation, and the judicial judging whether the actions of either branch are considered constitutional and beneficial for both the working class and the rest of the general population. There is one key difference however between the CSA and the previous USA, that is the president is directly elected by the people rather than by a small group in the Electoral College, finally putting power to decide leaders in the hands of people instead of a small group of the elite.

Economic Description: The Commonwealth adheres to an economic policy called "Syndicalism with American Characteristics." Unlike the usual Syndicalist doctrine of a completely planned command economy, it follows doctrines of Georgism and Mutualism, allowing for local businesses and unions within the country to plan and control their prices within a market. There are still unions and syndicates that adhere to the will of the working class, but these just have the option to adjust production and prices depending on supply and demand. One might say that since in this type of market there would technically be "private" businesses made up of independent workers and therefore still be Capitalist, it's still stretching it a bit since the option of government intervention (as the Syndicates compose a large part of the government anyway) is still there.

As to the organisation of the economy, at the lowest levels are the typical local unions and syndicates, the types you'd see representing several businesses or a factory in a local area. They are then organised under a Bourse du Travail, who help coordinate and organise economic collaboration between the various unions and syndicates, as well as oversees general governmental economic enforcement. They, in simple terms, represent the Federal government's hand on a local level for economic purposes and act as regional representatives for a particular area. And on the national levels are the National Industry Federations, which are groupings of Syndicates (regardless of geography) based on the industry they belong to. It's here that the efforts of syndicates on a national level are represented, coordinated and overseen nationwide, as well as where data is taken from the different syndicates and given to both the federal government and the local syndicates. The level of autonomy for the local syndicates varies depending on the industry: for example, the railroad industry might see the national railroad system be overall centralised and planned by a National Federation, where it'd be different in an industry for a consumer good.

Magic and other shenanigans?: As entailed by the wackiness of the Red Alert universe, the CSA has possession of various advanced technologies. Most notably energy weapons, cryo weapons, tesla-electric weapons, mechs and even a space force. Telepaths and teleportation are also realities in the CSA, though the former is rare and the latter is still in the early prototype stage.

Military Description
Being one of the vanguards of the revolution and surrounded on multiple sides by enemies necessitates a strong military force in order to act as both a deterrent and a tool of expansion, a role that the Commonwealth Armed Forces (CAF) most definitely fill the criteria of. The CSA's vast industrial complex means that the CAF has a mass abundance of military equipment, and cooperation with foreign powers, as well as a well-educated population, means that there is no shortage when it comes to the development of new and advanced weapons, bringing the CAF into the forefront of military technology. The CAF adheres extensively to that of meritocracy and retains an extremely rigorous training programme, creating an army of very well trained soldiers and making sure that only the best and most intuitive are there to lead them. The social policies of the CSA are perhaps most clearly seen in the CAF, as both race and gender equality are upheld as key values in the military, with the appearance of coloured and female soldiers being a common sight.

When the main branches of the CAF are not enough, however, the CSA also has the Continental Army. Inherited from the Civil War, the Continental Army is most similar to the National Guard of the old US, composed of a system of both reserve forces and local militias that take part in both military and civilian exercises. Often considered a sort of early stepping stone before joining the army, the Continental Army can be raised during times of national emergency in order to bring up a new army of militias made up of patriotic men and women willing to fight and die fanatically for the commonwealth.

Another rather notable trait of the CAF is the appearance of Political Commissars. Somewhat resembling military police, they're tasked with making sure the CAF remains, first and foremost, a force devoted to the protection of both the revolution and the working class. Educating the soldiery in the wonders of the ideology they're fighting for to raise morale and seeking out any potential dissidents or conspirators against the Syndicalist revolution, they remain a key part of the CAF.

Partly due to the CAF's heritage concerning irregular forces and the US Marine Corps (see below for more details), the CAF is also famous for its special forces units: from frontline commandos to paratroopers inserted behind enemy lines, the CAF boasts some of the best SOF units in the world.

Army: Out of all the branches, the People's Liberation Army is probably both the most rigorously trained and well lead branch in the armed forces, furthermore regarded as one of the finest and toughest in the world. This is in part due to its origins, as most of the men who'd come to form the nucleus of both the regular army and the military leadership during and after the civil war were members of the US Marine Corps: one of the few institutions in the pre-civil war US Armed Forces not neglected by the corrupt capitalist gang. With a proud military tradition, the PLA truly produces some of the finest soldiers and leaders that any military could hope for. There are also a number of specialist troops armed with the various advanced weapons of the Commonwealth, notably heavy energy weapons and cryo weapons.

Navy: Though the CSA is no longer has the full naval industrial might that the US once possessed, or even the Pacific States currently possesses, its role as a major figure in spreading the global revolution and its bases of operation such as the Syndicalist Philippines or the front in Africa means that the People's Liberation Navy is far from being neglected at all. A rival to even the Union of Britain's own naval prowess, she remains at the forefront of the global effort to liberate foreign lands under the hammer and torch.

The PLSC (People's Liberation Space Command) has possession of a large array of satellites. From spy satellites that track the movements of troops across the globe, to weaponised satellites that vary from armaments, from energy beams to missiles.

History: The state of post-Weltkrieg America was one of great trouble and chaos. Divided politics on every level, a failing economy, but most of all corruption permeated every part of American society: all of which were to the detriment of the working class. Men and women of the working class toiled under the oppression of the bourgeoise as they heartlessly exploited the back-breaking honest labour of the common people, just to fill their already extravagant coffers further. The Great Depression only further destroyed the lives of the people, as millions became unemployed while the upper class continued to live in luxury. For years, the whims of Wall Street and mega-corporations remained unopposed, until a man by the name of Jack Reed returned to America during the 1920s. A journalist who witnessed the failure of the Bolshevik Revolution, Reed refused to allow the revolution for workers rights to end with Communism and so decided to try and continue the revolution in America. Reed turned to the camp of Syndicalism in order to fulfil this purpose, and his righteous goal was taken up by the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). It was around the IWW and him that other likeminded left-wingers gathered in order to advocate workers rights and fight against the bourgeoisie and that eventually, the vanguard of the revolution would come to be in the form of the Combined Syndicates of America (CSA).

When the Great Depression came, the trust between the northern workers of the highly industrialised Steel Belt region and the government started to crack, with many beginning to toss their lot in with the CSA. It wasn’t till the 1933 election ended with the re-election of Herbert Hoover that all trust was lost, and the many members of the working class from Illinois to Michigan abandoned their Democratic Party ties and joined with the CSA-supported Socialist Party of America, earning the region the moniker of the “Red Belt.” Soon a three way power struggle began to grow: the ancient parties of the Democrats and Republicans forming a “Federalist” Coalition, the nationalist America First Union Party rising in the Deep South under the charismatic yet devious Huey Long and the CSA lead Socialist Party dominating the American Midwest represented by John Reed.

The coming of Black Friday only further increased support for the CSA, and secured the Socialist Party’s victory in the 1937 elections with John Reed being elected as the 32nd President of the United States of America. The moment he was inaugurated, Reed almost immediately began a wave of reforms to fix the country: not just from the Great Depression and Black Monday, but also to fix the decades of social inequality the nation had suffered. He signed and sent out countless executive orders to reform the country: from ensuring the right of unions to form and negotiate with their employers, to nationalising certain industries in order to use these corporation’s vast resources to begin rebuilding the economy. Despite his well-intentioned acts, it proved too much for the bourgeoisie. Those in league with injustice and oppression began denouncing Reed and the CSA, with Huey Long lovingly bestowing the president with the nickname “Dictator Reed.” Violence against workers and CSA members alike increasingly rose, as street fighting became common. America was a powder keg, and was only waiting for a spark to light it.

That spark came only a few months after Reed came to power, when General Douglas MacArthur marched on Washington DC in a military coup d’état to treasonously overthrow the president. Fortunately, Reed was warned before hand and was able to flee from DC, taking refuge in the CSA heartland of Chicago. It was from Chicago that Reed proclaimed MacArthur as a traitor, and beseeched Americans everywhere to help destroy the usurper. The situation only declined further as the South rose up in rebellion lead by Huey Long, who proclaimed that he’d both liberate DC from the “American Caesar” and free the nation from the tyranny of “Dictator Reed” under the banner of the “American Union State.” While the East fell into chaos, the West only further added to the fire as the west coast seceded from the union as the “last bastion of American democracy” under the Pacific States of America. Oh, and New England declared itself independent too.

With that, the Second American Civil War broke out.

Though initially chaos and stalemate reigned, the war rapidly changed towards the side of MacArthur and his Federalists. Even with the CSA’s superior numbers and courage, and the AUS’ collection of great tactical and strategic military minds, they were simply not a match for the Federalist forces’ superior training and equipment. It was at this point that the impossible came to be as the AUS and CSA, the great ideological enemies, whose leaders despised each other with a burning passion, decided on a temporary armistice and coordinated their efforts fully against MacArthur. It was here that the CSA’s policy and advocacy for race and gender equality began to pay off, as millions of African-Americans fled to the CSA and rapidly joined their ranks, while hundreds of thousands of women volunteered for service in every branch of the armed forces, finding particular success and infamy in the Airforce.

Beginning to feel pressure from both sides, and with the Federalist’s lack of a major industrial base paired with the CSA’s vastly superior one beginning to ware their supplies down, MacArthur’s forces began getting pushed back. Eventually, DC was liberated by CSA forces, and the American Caesar was forced to flee from the country, with the Federalist front collapsing into a bunch of strongholds and rump remnants spread across the continental US.

Yet the CSA would not find much reprieve, as Canada decided it wasn’t in its best interests to have a major Syndicalist force to their south. And so it was that in mid-1938, a scant few weeks after the defeat of MacArthur, that Entente forces in the north and Pacific States forces in the west advanced into CSA territory. The situation became significantly worse as Huey Long, seeing an opportunity to secure victory, broke the truce and restarted the war. And so it was that the CSA, exhausted, was rapidly besieged on three sides. All seemed lost.

However, there was one thing the Syndicalists possessed that others in the world did not: unity by class. Unity by cause. A disregard of gender, race and nationality.

Seeing their brethren in the Americas about to be crushed, the Syndicalist world came to the rescue. First, it was fellow Syndicalists on the American continent who, after solving their own regional disputes, sent arms and volunteers to support America: Mexicans, Argentinians and Chileans marched north to support the CSA. But soon enough the big three of the Third Internationale pledged their support: with the Union of Britain seeing an opportunity to cripple the Royalist Pretenders in Canada, while the Commune of France decided (after much debate) that securing such a major ally in North America would be more beneficial in the long term than striking at Germany, with the Italians practically being dragged along for the ride. By the height of the war in 1939, tens of thousands of soldiers from across the world, from the Communist rump state Georgia in the Caucasus to the underdeveloped yet strong Bharatiya in India, the Syndicalist world had united behind the CSA.

A lack of coordination between the Syndicalist Bloc's enemies also helped in that regard. The American Union State refused to work with the Entente, continuing to attack the Pacific States and was beginning to suffer from internal strife as the alliance between the Longists of Huey Long, the National Populists of William Dudley Pelley and the various private corporations began to fall apart. Canada was similarly effected as both workers and Quebec Nationalists rose up against the monarchy. Even the German Empire was unable to immediately exploit the situation, with civil order increasingly declining in Eastern Europe and a revanchist Russian juggernaut beginning to rise up.

By 1941, the Entente front had collapsed as Canada capitulated. Among the chaos of the Canadian Cataclysm, the fate of the British Royal Family fell into ambiguity and mystery. Rumours began: of the king's brother, Prince Albert Frederick, beaten to death hung on a lamp post. Of Princess Margaret, defiled by revolutionaries before being disposed of in the Ottawa River. Finally, of King Edward VIII himself, decapitated in front of a crowd of Quebec Nationalists and his head then paraded across Ottawa's streets on a pike. Whatever the facts of the matter, only two definite truths are known: 1) The majority of the Royal Family failed to escape Canada and were never heard of again, and 2) that of the main Royal Family, only Princess Elizabeth Alexandra managed to escape from North America on a Royal Navy ship, fleeing first to the West Indies Federation, then to the Australasian Confederation where she was crowned Queen Elizabeth II, rightful monarch of the United Kingdom, Head of the Commonwealth and figurehead of the Entente, or what remained of it.

New England was reconquered rather swiftly, while the Pacific States continued to resist, pushed back to the Rockies where (ironically with the help of MacArthur Federalist remnants) they dug in and successfully fended off multiple CSA incursions. The AUS was a different story, as they were pushed back all the way to the deep south, with Syndicalist forces on the very doorstep of Charleston and the AUS about to collapse into their very own civil war. However, before the final push could commence to finally defeat Long, tragedy struck in Europe as the German Empire finally recuperated and commenced an invasion of the Commune of France, with their allies in the Danubian Federation and the Kingdom of Two Sicilies launching a simultaneous attack on the Socialist Republic of Italy. Syndicalist forces were forced to pull support out from the CSA and, with the people of the CSA demanding that they go to the aid of the allies who had bravely come to theirs, the CSA decided to finally halt the civil war, signing ceasefires with both the Pacific States and the American Union State.

With a now well equipped veteran army and a massive industrial complex fully geared towards war, the CSA brought its full might onto Continental Europe. The situation was initially dire when the first re-organised and recuperated CSA forces landed in Britain in 1942: by that time France only barely held on to enclaves in the north-west and south, while the Italian Republic had been completely conquered by Reichspakt forces. But as CSA troops began flooding into Europe things began to change as the near-limitless resources of their American counterparts counteracted that of Germany's. Particularly effective was a set of new doctrines developed during the Civil War by AUS General George S. Patton (though later adopted by the CSA too), concentrating on speedy penetrations and encirclements via armoured spearheads, this new strategy of "Thunder Striking" found itself very effective against Reichspakt forces.

Economic Description: The Commonwealth adheres to an economic policy called "Syndicalism with American Characteristics." Unlike the usual Syndicalist doctrine of a completely planned command economy, it follows doctrines of Georgism and Mutualism, allowing for local businesses and unions within the country to plan and control their prices within a market. There are still unions and syndicates that adhere to the will of the working class, but these just have the option to adjust production and prices depending on supply and demand. One might say that since in this type of market there would technically be "private" businesses made up of independent workers and therefore still be Capitalist, it's still stretching it a bit since the option of government intervention (as the Syndicates compose a large part of the government anyway) is still there.

As to the organisation of the economy, at the lowest levels are the typical local unions and syndicates, the types you'd see representing several businesses or a factory in a local area. They are then organised under a Bourse du Travail, who help coordinate and organise economic collaboration between the various unions and syndicates, as well as oversees general governmental economic enforcement. They, in simple terms, represent the Federal government's hand on a local level for economic purposes and act as regional representatives for a particular area. And on the national levels are the National Industry Federations, which are groupings of Syndicates (regardless of geography) based on the industry they belong to. It's here that the efforts of syndicates on a national level are represented, coordinated and overseen nationwide, as well as where data is taken from the different syndicates and given to both the federal government and the local syndicates. The level of autonomy for the local syndicates varies depending on the industry: for example, the railroad industry might see the national railroad system be overall centralised and planned by a National Federation, where it'd be different in an industry for a consumer good.

Being one of the vanguards of the revolution and surrounded on multiple sides by enemies necessitates a strong military force in order to act as both a deterrent and a tool of expansion, a role that the Commonwealth Armed Forces (CAF) most definitely fill the criteria of. The CSA's vast industrial complex means that the CAF has a mass abundance of military equipment, and cooperation with foreign powers, as well as a well-educated population, means that there is no shortage when it comes to the development of new and advanced weapons, bringing the CAF into the forefront of military technology. The CAF adheres extensively to that of meritocracy and retains an extremely rigorous training programme, creating an army of very well trained soldiers and making sure that only the best and most intuitive are there to lead them. The social policies of the CSA are perhaps most clearly seen in the CSA, as both race and gender equality are upheld as key values in the military, with the appearance of coloured and female soldiers being a common sight.

When the main branches of the CAF are not enough, however, the CSA also has the Continental Army. Inherited from the Civil War, the Continental Army is most similar to the National Guard of the old US, composed of a system of both reserve forces and local militias that take part in both military and civilian exercises. Often considered a sort of early stepping stone before joining the army, the Continental Army can be raised during times of national emergency in order to bring up a new army of militias made up of patriotic men and women willing to fight and die fanatically for the commonwealth.

Another rather notable trait of the CAF is the appearance of Political Commissars. Somewhat resembling military police, they're tasked with making sure the CAF remains, first and foremost, a force devoted to the protection of both the revolution and the working class. Educating the soldiery in the wonders of the ideology they're fighting for to raise morale and seeking out any potential dissidents or conspirators against the Syndicalist revolution, they remain a key part of the CAF.

Army: Out of all the branches, the People's Liberation Army is probably both the most rigorously trained and well lead branch in the armed forces, furthermore regarded as one of the finest and toughest in the world. Another thing to mention is the Hunters and their abilities: Hunters are not simply human. Each one, upon joining the Hunt, is put through an initiation ritual in which they are exposed to a hellish ritual. Upon resisting these forces, the Hunter is forever transformed (which is helped by additional supernatural concotions and rituals they undergo). They remain human in mind, but gain many supernatural abilities to help in their fight against the forces of Hell and the Sculptor. Their blood and essence itself becomes infused with hellish and other supernatural energies. Additionally, they are made forever sterile, as Hunter blood and essence, infused by hellish energies, is capable of transforming even something as innocent as a baby into a vile monster.

The Hunters sport supernatural strength, resilience, pain tolerance and endurance (regardless of gender). They are easily able to punch hard enough to shatter a human skull into gory paste while using mere brass dusters, can take gunshots and shotgun blasts to the chest and some low-powered ones to the head and not only live, but stay conscious and able to fight back, as well as being able to - with the proper experience - run long distances without tiring at all. Other hunters, through the use of their supernatural powers, are even capable of resurrecting one of their comrades if his/her body has not been destroyed beyond repair. Their supernatural essence as well as trained techniques allow Hunters to teeter on the verge of death for some time until help arrives. Poisons, even extremely strong ones, only cause symptoms but are incapable of actually killing a Hunter.

Hunters' healing powers are also a topic of note. If given a little respite, a Hunter's hell-infused blood can heal even egregious wounds that would kill a normal human being in seconds or minutes. Special concotions which most Hunters know how to brew can even bring them to almost perfect health from the brink of death. While these substances' administering methods are often rather painful in the moment, the Hunters' high tolerance for pain allows them to pull through.

Other techniques can be learned by Hunters as they become more experienced and in tune with their supernaturally-infused essence. Government Description : With the Displacement cutting off the Imperial Forces of Canada from the rest of the Wilhelm Imperium, the leadership of the 78th Legion Lusitania had been forced to declared an emergency government to be formed in the former Canadian region they were occupying. Officially it's not a permeant solution to their isolation, but with the current lack of information they have in their situation, it'll likely quickly dawn on them that their predicament is for the long-term.

Territory : Easter Canada (The unclaimed parts)
Territorial Ambitions : The rest of Canada and eventually most of North America
Capital City : Toronto, still maintaining its status as the most populous city in former Canada, has turned into both a fortress and a hub for Imperial settlers prior to the Displacement. It still remains as one of the strongest bastions of Imperial control on Earth into the present.
Population : Roughly 14 Million people, however half of that comes from the local population.

Majority/Official Culture : Imperial. However remnants of Anglo and Francophones along with native cultures still remain prominently in parts that weren't fully assimilated before the Displacement.

Majority/State Religion : Wilhelm Creed

Major Industries / Economic sectors: Manufacturing, Energy, Mining, Agriculture
Amount of Industrialization : Southern Ontario is the most developed and therefore most industrialized part of Canada, even after the Imperium's conquest of it. Occupation has mostly turned it into a more built up major hub in that regard, as raw resources are extracted from elsewhere in the state from more rural parts.
Economic Description : With the fundamental need to continue to fuel the Imperium's military industrial complex, most service industries have been done away to instead focus mostly on raw resource output and high quality production, much to the suffering of the local Canadians and their natural environment. Smog had started to build up over these newly established industrial parks, with punishment for workers having been formally "off-region relocation." However with the Displacement, the economy had to quickly switched to more self-sustaining measures to prevent a total collapse, though despite these efforts it is very much dead in the water until the WIFC can stomach performing such ludicrous ideas such as "international trade."

Technological Level : There's some technologies that are practically thousands of years ahead of what's considered "current" that the Imperials brought with them, but the means to reproduce many of those wonders locally will equally take the same amount of time on any feasible level. Locally the tech levels are all over the place thanks to the recent war of conquest committed on the local Canadians, from 1930s to 1960s levels.
Magic and other shenanigans?: It exists amongst both populations, but not to a level that it would affect anything on the national level.

Military Description

Army: The WIFC Garrison consisting of the 78th Legion Lusitania perhaps remains the most premier fighting force of the colonial state, having been the ones that helped contributed to the conquering of North America once already. However training more men to such quality and equipment will prove to be a challenge for the rather rump state the WIFC was left in. Requiring the need to train more men from even the local population stock, who are still in shock over their recent occupation. Though finding willing collaborators are not as hard to acquire as it may seem.

-78th Legion Lusitania (divided into 10 cohorts) - 100,000 Men
-Ontario Garrison - 20,000 Men
-Quebec Garrison - 20,000 Men
-Newfoundland Garrison - 10,000 Men
-Nova Scotia Garrison - 5,000 Men
-New Brunswick Garrison - 5,000 Men
-Wilhelm Island Garrison - 1,000 Men

Total land forces by time of Displacement - 161,000 Men

Navy: Largely not that well built up, mostly consisting of transport ships and light patrol and coastal defense vessels. Some ships from the Royal Canadian Navy were clearly pressed into service and given more advanced weaponry following the Displacement.

-7 Advanced military patrol vessels

Air Force: Possesses some of the most advanced fighter and bomber crafts on this side of the globe arguably, but with very limited means to reproduce parts for, let alone make new units to create more wings of them. So just like the Navy, the Air Force has been largely regulated to using the locally produced military surplus pre-colonialism to fill in its numbers, using the largest number of the local Canadian population to fill in the ranks of in the Garrison's military.

National Goals : Prevent a total internal and economic collapse following the Displacement. Eventual reclamation of their 'former' colonial state borders, and an eventual reconquest of North America in the name of Wilhelm and Imperium. Eventually hoping to attempt to get back into contact with their home universe.


History : The WIFC is more or less a leftover from another universe that fundamentally functioned at an entirely different level from any typical planetary system, that being that they're from a universe where it's entirely one giant infinite flat plane of existence, spanning the entirety of the said universe. The concept of "finite" worlds completely elude the denizens from this universe, those from the Wilhelm Imperium being of no exception to this either. Though with such an infinite world, it creates the means of producing any combination of planetary scaled 'regions,' the layout of Earth with most of its cultures intact being one of them.

With the jingoist agenda of rapid expansionism and subjugation being the modus operandi of the Wilhelm Imperium, they quickly overwhelmed their paralleled version of Earth, through a combination of vastly superior numbers in the tens of millions from just a single army group, to significantly advanced weaponry that turned the majority of the defenders into smithereens within a matter of weeks as they methodically moved nation to nation, continent to continent.

Several colonial style states were established not long after in the fallout of a total Imperial victory over 'Earth," Wilhelm Imperial Forces Canada being one of these established states led by General Johann Hispana of the 78th Legion Lusitania. Which for the brief amount of time they still remained in their home universe before getting completely ripped out from it, had begun the earlier stages of displacing the local populations in North America to parts elsewhere or entirely unknown throughout the vast expanse of the Imperium.

Toronto and other major cities were built more or less as intended outposts fit for more frontier control as the main army group that took 'Earth' had preceded to move south past the Antarctic glaciers to prepare for further expansions in lands past it, leaving the WIFC with a modest garrison force to maintain public order and guard the inner borders. However with the Displacement pretty much ripping the colonial state from its own home universe, the abrupt change wasn't taken very well for anyone involved, as rioting and chaos soon erupted in the recently turned rump state of a colony, forcing any semblance of a civilian government to be suspended to allow martial law to reign supreme once more as a military dictatorship acting on the Will of Wilhelm took over. Once much of the initial chaos subsided however, the WIFC looks to its new surroundings, with both ambitions and disgust of these equally alien political entities that have taken control of where 'their' land should be and elsewhere on this now finite Earth.
