"Today's the day!" Saddam Hussein proudly exclaimed as he walked into the boardroom of his generals casually, holding a loaded rifle in his hands. They had been plotting the invasion of Kuwait for months, and now it was the time that it would all come to fruition. A grand Iraq, with a large coast, and feared by all its neighbours. Neither the Iranians nor the Saudis would dare mess with Saddam now.

He signed the directive ordering Iraqi forces to be deployed in Kuwait following extensive bombing. Now everything was set in motion. He prepared a statement to give to the people of Iraq and to the world.

He later gave the statement on state TV.

"Today, with the confidence of Allah almighty, I have committed Iraqi forces to right a great wrong that has been committed against our nation. Iraqi oil reserves have been stolen by Kuwaitis for too long, with side-drilling undermining our sovereignty and taking Iraqi money away from the Iraqi people and into the hands of the Kuwaiti government. The Kuwaitis have been warned that we would retaliate if they continued with this unlawful and reckless behaviour. However, they did not listen, and as a result we have been forced to act.

"Inshallah, our Iraqi warriors will come home and our mission will be successful."

The first Iraqi bombs struck, targeting the little military and industrial resources Kuwait had to defend itself. They ripped through Kuwait's air defences and factories, killing 55 soldiers and 25 civillians on their first raid. Ultimately, Kuwait was a tiny kingdom with no proper way to defend against the might of the Iraq and Saddam Hussein's armed forces.

Then, on March 8th, the soliders attacked. Iraqi forces blitzed down Highway 80, taking Abdali and oil field after oil field. By the next day (March 9th) they had surrounded Al Jahra and were on the edges of Kuwait City. Bombing raids had killed an additional 70 people, leaving the death toll at nearly 150 by March 10th.

Official Statement from the Imperial German Foreign Ministry

It has come to the attention of the Kaiser and his government that Iraq has invaded Kuwait. We condemn this unlawful and illegal action demand that Saddam Hussein withdraw all military forces from Kuwait immediately. If the Iraqis do not comply with our demand to withdraw then we will be be bringing before the UN Security Council. If that fails then we will be taking decisive action of own. What that will be will not be released to the public due to security concerns. We condemn the the Afghan government for essentially becoming puppets to the Soviets. They blame the Americans for their woes when it was the Soviets that invaded their country back in 1979. The people of Afghanistan treated the Soviet invaders like they did to the British at the end of the last century and that is sending them running with their tails between their legs. We ask that the Afghan government reconsider joining Comecon and consider Western foreign investment.

Bank Development Strategy
The government hereby orders the creation of several private financial institutions to boost domestic financial transaction and monetary support for domestic business and remove these powers from the foreign banks which currently dominate the Egyptian financial landscape. Therefore the government is creating several banks with a domestic financial capital being constructed around the current Cairo Stock Exchange building. The Government henceforth will establish the following banks with their subsequent capital and assets:
First Nile Bank
HQ: Cairo
Starting Capital: 500 Million USD
Assets: 1,000 Employees, Bank Vaults, 100 Locations, Secure Financial Transfer

Credit Kush
HQ: Khartoum
Starting Capital: 510 Million USD
Assets: 1,000 Employees, Bank Vaults, 100 Locations, Secure Financial Transfer

Alexandria Bank
HQ: Alexandria
Starting Capital: 500 Million USD
Assets: 1,000 Employees, Bank Vaults, 100 Locations, Secure Financial Transfer

Credit Cairo
HQ: Cairo
Starting Capital: 500 Million USD
Assets: 1,000 Employees, Bank Vaults, 100 Locations, Secure Financial Transfer

Red Sea Bank
HQ: Cairo
Starting Capital: 500 Million USD
Assets: 1,000 Employees, Bank Vaults, 100 Locations, Secure Financial Transfer

Furthermore, the government will be funneling 50 Million USD into each bank through 2000, and will ensure stability in each bank. The government will maintain 50% ownership stock in each bank until 1998, and now caps foreign ownership of domestic financial institutions up to 40%. The Central Bank of Egypt now has the added task of insuring financial institutions assets in the country. To help fund and finance this, a share pool will be created and diluted in which individuals and corporations alike will be able to share and invest. The government is also selling 40 Million in bonds to help fund the development of the central bank's services in this area.

Palestinian Development Strategy
The government is beginning a new phase of investments into Palestine in both Gaza and the West Bank. To fuel this approximately 2 Billion USD has been set aside for the newest projects these include three major projects:

Palestinian Medical Initiative
The government will be building approximately 40 Hospitals across Palestine and purchasing over 1000 Medical vehicles in order to support the development of Palestinian Medicine. These hospitals will be handed over to the Government of Palestine following their completion, however funding and supply aid will still be provided to Palestine by Egypt for this project. The allotted investment for this initiative is 800 Million USD.

Palestinian Education Initiative
The government will be investing in the Palestinian Public School system and University system, specifically in the area of supply and curriculum acquisition, education infrastructure, the training and acquisition of teachers and administrators, and the development of school buildings and services. The allotted investment for this initiative is 500 Million USD.

Palestinian Urban Initiative
The government will be investing in the development of Palestinian Cities. For this initiative the government is specifying its development on city planning services, water, electrical, and telecommunications development, safe building construction and repair, and public transport. The government will be aiding in the establishment of a bus system throughout the west bank and gaza strip, and will furthermore be supporting the construction of three desalination plants in the Gaza strip for the acquisition of clean water. The allotted amount for this initiative is 400 Million.

Other Initiatives
Sister City Project - 20 Million
Establish sisters cities between palestinian and egyptian cities to help facilitate idea and theory exchange between the two nations:
Cairo - Ramallah
Alexandria - Gaza
Khartoum - Nablus
Port Sudan - Khan Yunis
Asmara - Jericho
Luxor - Hebron
Omdurman - Bethlehem
Agriculture Project - 120 Million
Creation of Seed Banks and Equipment Co-ops across Palestine, the creation of several water reservoirs, food quality rating and safety system establishment
Highway Project - 160 Million
Creation and Repair of the major highways and intercity roads across palestine.

Egyptian Cricket League
After the massive success of the Egyptian Football renewal program in the 80s which saw the establishment of Egyptian football television, the creation of a television sports network and sports magazine, and the creation of better marketing tools. After this success, the Egyptian government is looking to capture the interest of egyptian cricket fans by creating the National Cricket Association, to replace the many regional institutions established after the sport was popularized during the 1940s and 50s. The Cricket League will not feature a relegation system, instead a set of 8 teams will be fixed in the league. Games will use the One Day International format of cricket rules. The Season will be played in the summer, to minimize rain delays, starting on the first weekend of may and ending on the second weekend of september. The teams will be the following:
Cairo Athletic
Gaza Pyramid Club
Alexandria Club
Khartoum Sporting
Port Sudan Club
Juba Athletic Club
Asmara Club
Luxor-Nile Athletics

Prague, Czechoslovak Republic
Church of Our Lady Victorious and The Infant Jesus of Prague

Today was a day of great celebration for the people of Czechoslovakia. His Holiness, Pope John Paul II had arrived at Prague Ruzyně International Airport Saturday afternoon and met with President Dubček to discuss a wide range of topics, from religion to the Iron Curtain. However, today, not only did the pope give the Mass at the Church of Our Lady Victorious and The Infant Jesus of Prague, but he also then preceded to lead a procession around the city passing numerous landmarks, including city hall, the Federal Assembly Building, and the Soviet embassy. Afterwards, he returned to the airport and with one last farewell, boarded the plane and flew back to the Vatican. Ever since the Pope’s visit, the common populace has been more restless, more vocal against Soviet influence and now yearn more than ever to completely open up to the rest of the world, regardless of what their “benefactors” in Moscow say.

Prague, Czechoslovak Republic
Federal Assembly Building

President Dubček was both excited and worried at the same time. While not much of the specifics of his meeting with His Holiness had been released to the public, the mere fact that he had been allowed into the country was probably enough to rankle certain hardline communists within the Warsaw Pact. That and the fact that now people were vocally calling for opening the borders to Austria & West Germany and allowing the free flow of information, goods, and people across them. While he welcomed the sense of national pride and religious zeal, he did not want to see his country crushed under the heel of Soviet occupation. He knew that these were dangerous times and that he and the people of this great nation would have to tread carefully, lest they lose everything they had worked so hard to build.

Gorbachev's Office
The Kremlin, Moscow

"They did what?!" Hissed Vladimir Kryuchkov.

"Brought the Pope to their country." Replied an aid, who clearly didn't get why Mr. Kryuchkov was hissing.

"I get that you idiot!" Kryuchkov hissed to his aid.

"It is clear something must be done about the Czechoslovaks as well as our other not so loyal allies." Gorbachev stated as Kryuchkov knoded.

"I agree. The Pope of all people though?! I thought the Czechoslovaks where very agnostic!" Kryuchkov said in disbelief.

"There is always military options." Dimity Yazov---the Minister of Defence---said.

"Those are options of last resort." Gorbachev firmly said.

"We could always kill the Pope." Suggested Vladlen Mikhailov---director of the GRU---with a somber tone of voice.

"An absurd proposal." Grumbled Dimitry Yazov.

"Most certainly." Chimed in Kryuchkov.

"I want no more talk of killing a religious figurehead. None." Gorbachev said in a firm and slightly irritated tone. "We need meaning solutions, not useless ideas."

"You could always try to bargain with the Czechoslovaks." Suggested Yazov.

"Very well. Then I'll go to Prague and talk some sense into the Czechoslovaks." Gorbachev said a bit excitedly.

"And when will that be?" Asked Mikhailov.

"Next month." Gorbachev replied.

War In Kuwait!

Image
On May 7th, 1990, Iraq declared war on Kuwait. And a mere three days later, the Kuwaiti forces seem near colapse as Iraq's mighty army plows through any oppostion. Meanwhile the international community has either remained silent or divided in it's opinion. West Germany and Afghanistan are the two noteworthy nations so far to have strongly condemned the invasion. Meanwhile the USA, UK, France, China, and USSR have said nothing about the invasion. However rumors abound in Moscow that it was an invasion to which the five global powers consented.

At the same time, the Soviet Embassy in Baghdad has reported that casulaties have rissen significantly in the south of Iraq and in Kuwait. While estimates vary, the estimate given by the Soviet Embassy state that roughly 1,000 people have so far been killed in the conflict. As more news trickles in, it is advised for those interested to watch the situation on TV or listen to it via radio.

Gorbachev Decries Papal Visit

In a press meeting today, President Gorbachev decried Pope John Paul II's visit to Prague. The short statement made by Gorbachev highlighted the fact that Czechoslovakia was as many other countries of the Warsaw Pact and Soviet Bloc a "...secular state with religious freedom for all." It was Gorbachev's fear that the Pope was "..enciting tensions that had been previously smothed over..." and that the Pope would be "...more than happy to watch the brotherhood and fraterny of the Soviet Bloc fall appart over petty religious tensions and radical encitement of the populace."

It is the concensus of not only the Soviet government, but of many citizens of the USSr that the Pope is meant to be a symbolic figurehead, and that him weighing into politics is not only disruptive, but unmerited as a religious head. As some would say, it's best to leave politics to the politicians, and war to the generals. But in this case, it's religion to the clergy.

Deutsche Demokratische Republik

Official Communiqué of the German Democratic Republic
From: Erich Honecker; General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and Chairman of the State Council
To: Mikhail Gorbachev, President of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics

Dear Comrade Gorbachev,

We hope this message finds you in good health, and send our friendly regards to your person and the people of the USSR.

The German Democratic Republic has with increasing worry and concern witnessed the ever growing aggressiveness, arrogance and jingoism expressed by our neighbour to the West. This Reich, truly a Fourth Reich following in the footsteps of its aggressive imperial and Nazi predecessors, has regularly expressed expansionist ambitions towards the territory of the DDR, as well as towards several of our Eastern European allies such as Poland and even the Soviet Union itself.

Moreover, the recent nuclear proliferation, naval expansion and imperialist meddling in the affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Pacific in general, shows beyond shadow of a doubt that the Kaiser and his cronies are unstable at best, and likely pose a severe danger to the stability of the Warsaw Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance; and indeed of Europe in general.

The German Democratic Republic would like to reach out to our Soviet allies in a request for increased weapons sales for our defence. Specifically, we are interested in procuring more anti-aircraft and anti-armour weaponry, as well as missile defence systems.

We send our kindest regards to our comrades in the Soviet Union,

Erich Honecker

Nationale Volksarmee conducts large-scale military drills alongside West German Border

Image

Forces of the Nationale Volksarmee (NVA, National People's Army) of the German Democratic Republic have conducted large-scale military drills and exercises along the border with the West German Reich. Official statements state that several thousands of DDR military personnel participated in the drills.

The exercises saw border guards of the Grenztruppe engage in defensive maneuvers training for a potential invasion from the West, as well as deployments of the regular Army and Air Force of the German Democratic Republic.

The emphasis of the drills was on anti-tank warfare, with the Landstreitkräfte showcasing their RPG anti-armour weapons, while the Luftstreitkräfte conducted flyovers and target practice using Mi-24 attack helicopters. A secondary subject of the exercises was air and missile defence, with the Strela and Osa surface-to-air missile systema playing a leading role

The message of the German Democratic Republic is clear: aggressive behaviour by the Fourth Reich will not be tolerated, and the working class of eastern Germany is ready to defend itself.

After the brutal repression of Student protests across china, and the repression against the free tibet movement. The officials within the Chinese communist party ponder if this would be the end on communist rule on the middle kingdom. The paramount leader of china, Deng xiaoping is preparing his adress towards the nation to deal with the ongoing crisis that could possibly lead to a second chinese civil war if he doesn't play his cards well enough. A knock on the door disrupted his thoughts, one of his aides came in and announced that one of the members of the party came to see him.

"My excellency please pardon my intrusion. I have already talked with several other members of the party, and it is our firm belief that you should halt the reforms for the time being. You've seen what reforms have done to the people's worldview, it is with me and my colleagues deepest wishes that you should either halt or completely reverse your reforms" The party member firmly said to the chairman.

"It is with my deepest regret to inform you, that reversing the reforms shall be the last thing i shall do, and you could say goodbye to any thoughts of me reversing my policies. Under my leadership china has entered a new age of prosperity that even our soviet brothers are following our examples, You claim that you represent the people but the only people you serve is yourself. Although i cannot judge how close you are with the people, as i too have felt out of touch with the common folk. My decision if final, my reforms shall not be reversed nor halted" The chairman fiercely responded to the party member.

The party member bitterly stormed off the room, not five minutes after another one of the chairman's aide entered his room and announced that his presence is required in a meeting with several other officials towards china's new foreign policy. The chairman put on the cap of his pen and hanged it in the pocket of his suit, and closed the folder that holds his speech and kept it in a drawer on his desk, stood up and followed his aide.

Upon entering the meeting room he was greeted by more or else a dozen top and senior government officials. He motioned for them to settle down and started the meeting, "Good Morning gentlemen, I am glad that you have made it here today for our first executive meeting. Today I would like to assign tasks for you, first is for the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Qian Qinchen, to send diplomats to India and the soviet union to regain the once fruitful relationships with our country. Do whatever it is possible to do to regain their trust but do not over exert yourself to the point that they will use the appeal for their own pleasure. I want somebody to study on how we can resolve the South China Sea disputes, and the Taiwanese question diplomatically." he clearly emphasized the "diplomatically" word. I would also want you to send a telegram to the united kingdom and portugal discussing the plans on the return of Hong Kong and Macau back to chinese hands.

Upon hearing the order of the chairman he immediately replied, "Thank you, Your Excellency, I will see to it that we shall regain our rightful lands, and currently we are studying on how we could resolve the South China Sea dispute. We shall to slowly nurture our relationships with them in order to have a more fruitful and stronger relationship with them than ever before. To pave way for china’s path becoming the next superpower in asia

The next thing in our agenda would be our intelligence activity. As you all know mongolia has suffered mass civil unrest, and dissent towards the communist goverment. If some of our agents could sow the seeds of distrust towards the independent goverment and supply the pro-chinese factions in mongolia, then we might just have ourselves an opportunity to regain our lost lands. Do i make myself clear dear minister Jia?

The minister of state security quickly rises and salutes the chairman signifying his loyal devotion towards the chairman and the people’s republic. Once the meeting was finished, the chairman dismissed the officials and made his way to the hall of the people where he would give his daily address to the nation.

Great Hall of the People, Beiing

Image

The chairman arrived at the great hall of the people well dressed and ready to do his daily speech. As cameras provide live broadcast of the chairman’s speech across china from Urumqi to Shanghai.

“Ladies, and gentleman of our glorious nation. Today marks a new day for us to tackle, as the western imperialists claim another victim in the middle east in the form of the nation of Kuwait. We ourselves shall not be victims of another war, china has always prospered in times of peace. However to defend our beloved nation, we too need to arm ourselves against those who wishes to conquer us and make us their puppet like they had done before. China will keep moving forward away from it’s weak past, therefore we shall continue the ongoing economic reforms to help improve living conditions across china. Not only that, i have felt that i myself have felt out of touch with the workers and fellow countrymen alike, therefore i myself shall tour across china and listen to the problems of the commonfolk to further tightening the connection between the workers and the party itself”

The Transmigration Initiative

The transmigration program’s purpose to move landless people from densely populated areas of china to less populous areas of the country (Tibet, Turkestan, and Inner Mongolia) .This involved moving people permanently from eastern china. The purpose of this program was to reduce the considerable poverty and overpopulation on western china, to provide opportunities for hard-working populace, and to provide a workforce to utilise better the natural resources of western provinces. As an added bonus, it will also help significantly reduce independence movement from those areas by introducing a han chinese majority that will grow over time

Worker’s Protection act

As china slowly opens up towards a mixed market, foreign companies looking to gain a foothold in china must comply with the chinese labour unions, and rules and regulation in order to prevent exploitation of chinese workers. Inspired by the egyptian reforms, unions will recieve a board representative for each delegate of the board. the delegates will have voting access and will be able to propose solutions and plans.

Marriage act

Chairman mao had already provided the groundwork towards women’s rights during the foundation of the people’s republic, by abolishing archaic laws and customs implemented during the imperial period. However women today are still trapped in marriages that they didn’t even chose, therefore the chinese goverment will start to crackdown on the child marriages in xinjiang, and the old chinese practices of arranged marriages and dowries to give the women of rural china their own choice to marry the men they love. several clinics and an extensive domestic violence help hub will be created to help women get rid of their violent husbands

Increase spending towards the information technology

As the new milennia approaches in a decade, Technology is estimated to advance further and further as each year goes by. We believe that china will one day dominate the world in developing and manufacturing technology that we could export across asia and quite possibly, the world. Therefore the ccp has agreed to increase spending towards information technology in the national budget.

Greetings of Peace!

As the world enters a new decade and major economic reforms have been implemented in both the people's republic of china and the USSR. We propose a new plan to help secure economic prosperity to not just China and the USSR but quite possibly most of Eurasia. The Belt road initiative's objectives are to construct a unified large market and make full use of both international and domestic markets, through cultural exchange and integration, to enhance mutual understanding and trust of member nations, ending up in an innovative pattern with capital inflows, talent pool, and technology database. Not only that but it has the added bonus on spreading the permanent revolution across eurasia. We await your thoughts towards our proposal

Truly Yours,

Soviet-Egyptian Meeting Results

Soviet and Egypto-Kushite Delegations met in Cairo during the last week of March to discuss the future of soviet and egyptian relations. One of the first topics discussed was trade in which Egypt and the Soviet Union agreed to a tariff agreement to lower tariffs on raw goods to five percent for each nation. Analysts say that new Soviet Steel will now be heavily competitive and there for be open in mass quantities in the Egyptian Market soon, solving the dilemma of the stagnating Egyptian Mining industry which has struggled to keep up with growth. Meanwhile, experts say the agreement will benefit egyptian agriculture on a large scale too, making Egyptian Palm Oil, Dates, Sugar, and Coffee all very competitive against other foreign competition. The Soviets and Egyptians also created communication networks between businesses in their nations, which analysts say will provide heavy soviet investment in the creation of an industrial sector in Egypt, one of the sectors which stagnated the most during the tumultuous 70s and 80s.

Next up for discussion was a USSR-Egypt customs agreement. The agreement will allow Visa free travel for Soviet and Egyptian citizens for up to 60 days. The agreement is expected to vastly ease the flow of business and money between the two nations. Quickly following this, a research and study program was brought up and soon passed. This research agreement includes study abroad programs, information and science exchange, university cooperation, medical cooperation, and scientist cooperation.

Moving on from the economic aspects of the meeting to the military, Egypt and the USSR have begun a military advisor exchange program, to help train exchange military ideas and information. Furthermore the two governments have agreed to hold at least one joint military exercise each year to increase military awareness and abilities of the two nations. Finally, the Egyptians have agreed to choose soviet weapons for their new military modernization project. This agreement includes the domestic production of soviet small arms in Egypt, namely the AK-74 (Egyptian Model referred to as the KB-74), which will become the new main service rifle for Egypt. Furthermore Egypt has announced it will be working jointly with the USSR in the production of several new naval vessels including 20 Parchim Class Corvettes, 12 Krivak III model Frigates, and 18 Kilo Class Diesel Attack Submarines. Furthermore, the Egyptians have agreed to purchase 250 T-72s with Kontakt 5 ERA modifications, 50 T-80Us, 2,000 BTR-80s, and 580 BMP-2s. Whilst these are being produced, the Soviet Union has agreed to send BTR-70s and BMP-1s at a decreased price for training and patrol services. Lastly, the Egyptians are pursuing a complete remodeling of their airforce with soviet Aircraft, this will include 300 Su-72s, 680 SU-25s, 400 Su-24s, 600 An-32s, 400 An-26s, and 50 IL-76s. And in the region of helicopters, the military will be improving its inventory with 100 Mi-8s, 220 Mi-17s, and 180 Mi-24s.

Egypt Air Expansion

In tandem with a growing economy a nation also needs better transport possibilities. To this end, the government is already working on a High Speed rail system, but for international travel there is a different story. For years EgyptAir has been a relatively small middle eastern airline, with not much to offer outside of domestic services and trans mediterranean routes. However, the government is announcing a project to expand its aerial capabilities, this includes the addition of two more runways to Cairo International Airport and two more terminals, there will also be a Duty Free Mall, and a brand new Pharoah's Lounge from EgyptAir. In Khartoum, the government has announced it will be constructing a brand new 2 terminal, three runway airport outside the city, with a Pharoahs Lounge as well. Meanwhile in Juba, Alexandria, and Asmara, the government is announcing funding for terminal modernizations at their airports.

In regards to EgyptAir itself, the airline is announcing a brand new fleet expansion and cabin remodelling. The airline is remodeling its fleet design around the brand new Airbus A-320 series, with 30 of the models to be purchased, in addition the airline is purchasing 8 Il-86 aircraft for a short period while it looks for long range airliners, it has expressed interest in the Soviet Il-96 project and the Airbus A-340 for its long range needs, as well as the Tu-204 for its medium range needs. However, as none of these airlines have entered production or service yet, the airline is waiting to place orders. Meanwhile, EgyptAir is announcing several routes across the USSR, India, and Western Europe to be added to its list of destinations.

Greetings Comrade,

The proposal for a new Silk Road is tempting for the USSR. As you know, the vast resources of the Soviet nation are still largely untapped. However the plan has some flaws in the eyes of GOST and the Ministry of Transportation has it's concernes. For GOST the concern is the gradual opening up of the Soviet Bloc would be dissrupted by the creating of such a dramatic iniciative that is bassed around foreign trade. A rapid opening would not allow Soviet companies to compete efficiently, and as such is a majro concern for GOST. As for the Ministry of Transportation, the concern is the logistics of gauge changes between standard gauge, Soviet gauge, and back to standard gauge. Similarly, the plan is a concern for the Ministry of Transportation since the Trans-Siberian ralways hasn't been electrified fully yet. However, it should be noted that President Gorbachev is truly interested by the proposal.

As such discussions are currently ongoing with a final result to be decided upon soon. Once the plan is finalized, expect a response.

Sincerely,
Eduard Shevardnadze

Comrade Honecker,

I was getting worried you had forgoten about the USSR! Your regards are well received by the people of the USSR as well as myself.

It many not seem like it, but the Soviet Government is doing everything possible to stem the jingoisim and hegemony of the West German government. Already a meeting of the Allied Control Council has been called and other diplomatic courses of action. As for the West German expansionism, I thought Willy Brandt had ended that back when Brezhnev was still around, but the revisionisim of the Kaiser is not going unheeded. The KGB and GRU are busy atempting to find a solution to our wowes.

And your equest for armaments is understood. Whatever it is your armed forces may need, the Soviet Union will provided it. Howver, nuclear weapons are not an option. The Eastern Bloc must take the moral high ground in this situation to show that the ideals of monarchisim and imperialisim are fundamentally rotten to the core.

West Germany should have never been trusted with anything of value militarily. But that was a decision I was not able to make. But rest assured that the USSR will not abandon it's comrades in East Germany.

You friend,
Mikhail Gorbachev
President of the USSR

Kingdom of Afghanistan
April 1, 1990

Official Statement from the Kingdom of Afghanistan to the German Empire

As it had done in 1979, the Government of Afghanistan remains firm in their statement that the 'Soviet aid' invited into Afghanistan had been done by the lawfully-elected government to help fight against the US-backed rebels whom were destroying buildings, blowing up cars and killing people in many streets.

The fact that an American 'ally' still continues to repeat a false narrative is evidence, that the West continues to support only their own narrative of events and none else. To accept their 'investment' after they helped support the killing of our people is an insult to our people and frankly an invite to them to continue such policies - a snake-oil salesman offering gas to a man, whose car he had destroyed just months ago.

We say ney, and will continue our commitment to our true allies.

The Kremlin, Moscow
April 14, 1990

Prime Minister Rabbani happily accepted such a request and would have made his way to Moscow by the next month, once everything was established and he could take along several points he wanted to make and establish in the following days during his stay in Moscow, as he looked down at the list of documents and proposals, all signed and approved by the Legislature in preparation for quick acceptance by the Communists and hopefully preventing another attack by the Americans whom would likely excuse their actions as usual 'intervention or peace-keeping'.

Agreement of Cooperation between Moscow and Kabul:

  • Continuation of joint military exercise between the Soviet Armed Forces and the Royal Army of Afghanistan
  • Increase of trade in the fields of industry, technology, energy, oil and natural gas, mineral extraction and refinement
  • Defense agreement and non-aggression pact against any Western assault by internal or external forces
  • Application of acceptance to join COMECON as an associate member* with full-membership possibility (*acceptance of full-membership benefits namely in areas of defense, in lieu due to heightened global tensions)

Official Statement from the Second German Empire to the Kingdom of Afghanistan

You seem to think that the Americans were backing the rebels from the very beginning when was that was a lie. The Soviets only intervened because the rebels were about to overthrow your government and look where it got them. 10's of thousands of Soviet troops either dead or injured and thousands of Innocent Afghan citizens dead because your government allowed the Russians. It saddens this government that a monarchy as historical as yours and an Islamic nation such as yours would willingly become puppets to a bunch of atheists in Moscow. Unlike the Communists,we respect the freedom of speech, religion, assembly and the press so we ask why you would bow to those monsters who willingly murdered millions of their own people because those people disagree with the government. If you wish for to be the Soviet's little puppet then your on your own.

State of Israel
March 1990

As Iraq invaded Kuwait, the situation was being closely watched by the Israeli Government. Saddam Hussian had never exactly been one to support the Jewish State after all, and if he was emboldened enough to invade Kuwait, who's to say he's not emboldened enough to make do with all the threats he's made to Israel over the years? It was ultimately decided that surveillance would increase over Iraq and Kuwait. While Shimon Peres and Aryeh Deri had other plans for what would happen this month, given the Iraqi threat that would have to wait.

State of Israel
April 1990

With the announcement coming out the recent talks between the USSR and Egpyt, the Israeli government felt the need to make an announcement of their own. In a lead up to the announcement, plans were made to open up a checkpoint on the Israel-Egpyt border near Kerem Shaleom and Sholmit and construction would soon follow.
OFFICAL STATEMENT FROM THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT

With the results of the recent talks between the United Kingdom of Egypt and Kush and the Soviet Union including a customs and visa free travel arrangement, it has been decided that all Soviet Jews who travel to Egpyt and then make their way to the Israeli border will be accepted as olim upon arrival.

It was of course assumed that this message would not make its way onto Soviet airways, as such, Israeli agents within the Soviet Union were tasked with providing this information to the various Jewish communities within the USSR in anyway they could, providing it wouldn't blow their cover of course.

Moscow

Eduard Shevardnadze was truly scared of Gorbachev. Anger clearly had overcome the man, and it seemed that Gorbachev would not mind strangling Shimon Peres at the moment. With ana angered snort, Gorbachev then bgean to speak.

"What the singular hell is this?!" He shouted as he slapped the newspaper about Israel's new policy towards Soviet Jews.

"It is the equivalent of a kidnapping." Shevardnadze replied.

"Damn right it is!" Gorbachev yelled. "This is Israel overstepping it's reach! I want all Israeli citizens out of the country in 48 hours, and I want all Soviet citizens out of Israel in 24 hours! Then invalidate all travel to Israel on Soviet passports, end flights to and from Israel and the USSR, and above all, I want an explanation for this move!"

"Of course sir. It is after all not just unprecedented, but also a very stranged and frankly bold move to make. An explination is merrited." Shevardnadze stated.

"Well get to it!" Gorbachev yelled as Shevardnadze left the room promptly.

New Delhi,India
Office Prime Minister

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is going over future economic plans for India. Ever since his predecessor Rajiv Gandhi came to power, India moving more and more towards the Western way of thinking economically, politically and militarily. India over the past decade has been buying up western military equipment primarily American,British and German equipment with French and Italian mixed in. India has also been improving it relations with it neighbors particularly the Iranians and the Pakistanis. India has also been improving its relations with the Burmese, the Thais and the Cambodians. In Burma, Atal's predecessor assisted Burmese rebels in overthrowing the military dictatorship in Burma back in 1983 which led to the installation of a Pro Indian, pro Western government in Burma. A military and economic alliance between the two nations was approved by both countries legislatures in 1985. In 1988 right after he was elected, an economic alliance between Pakistan and India was acheived due to an agreement between the two countries leaders to split Kashmir evenly between their nations. They hope to maybe forge a military alliance with each other as a counter to the growing Chinese and Russian threat to their north.

To the Prime Minister of Israel
From Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of India
Encryption:Top Secret

To whom it may concern,

I am Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of India. We both know of the growing Communist threat has on our countries. In 1980, predecessor former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi made a critical and life saving decision to enter the Western sphere of influence which has led to an Indian Economic Renaissance. Our economy in booming as it has never done before and that is the platform I ran on as opposed to my opponent who wanted India to be buddies again. We are now very good friends with the United States and their allies and our relationship with the Soviets has grown cold. With our booming economy we are poised to become the next superpower both militarily and economically. I ask that we meet here in New Dehli to discuss our new friendship between our two nation.

Sincerely,
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of India
This nation in no way reflects my IRL views. I created this just for fun.

OFFICAL STATEMENT FROM THE ISRAEL GOVERNMENT

Recently, the Soviet Government officially banned travel to Israel by any Soviet Citizens. As every Jew has the right to come to Israel as an oleh, any non-Israeli Jew who makes their way to Israel wishing to becoming an oleh, Soviet or otherwise, has the right to do so. Israeli law and the Israeli Government stands firm in this belief.

To Whom it May Concern,

We humbly accept your invation to discuss relations between our two nations. As our nations share common geopolitical goals and struggles we feel we would be amiss to neglect this opportunity to better relations between our two great nations. As such, expect an Israeli delegation to arrive in New Delhi within the next few weeks, as well as open communications to continue between our offices in the time being as to make preperations for this meeting.

Signed,

Yitzhak Shamir

The Kremlin, Moscow

"Uhm, sir. The Prime Minister of Afghanistan is here." An aide told Gorbachev.

"Fetch me a translator and let the Prime Minister in." Gorbachev told the aide.

"Yes sir." The aide replied as he then exited Gorbachev's office.

Gorbachev then straightned his clothes out and made sure he looked presentable. And just in time as the aide let the Prime Minister of Afghanistan in.

"Greetings Prime Minister Rabbani, and welcome to Moscow. Sorry for keeping you waiting." Gorbachev said to the Afghan Prime Minister in Russian. "Now shall we get down to buisness?"

But by that point Gorbachev remembered that not everyone spoke Russian, and suddenly he felt embarassed by the possibility that the Prime Minister may not have understood a word he had said. So Gorbachev did the sensible thing and pulled out a chair for the Prime Minister and signaled for him to sit down in the kindest way possible.

10 Downing Street,
Westminster,
London

The Defence Board, along with a plethora of other members of the Defence and Intelligence Community had met in the Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms, commonly referred to as COBRA. As Iraq had invaded Kuwait, the Government must make an immediate response. As such, the COBRA meeting had found that action was necessary, and that the invasion of Kuwait was illegal. Margaret Thatcher would contact the UN, and begin and international coalition, should the Iraqis not back down. The United State seemed quiet on the issue, the Britain must lead the way. Thatcher immediately wrote up a letter to both the UN Secretary General, and Saddam Hussein. In the meantime, the British Embassy in Iraq (Baghdad specifically) was to be evacuated, orders had already went out to burn any documents that could not be brought back to Britain.

There was another problem, however, the Unionists in Northern Ireland had broken any dream of peace with a new campaign of violence. It was the United Kingdom's view that any terrorist threat in Northern Ireland was likely to hurt it, and Thatcher had decided enough was enough. In England and Scotland, Infantry formations prepared for an intervention, paratroopers convened in bases across the UK, and fighters, bombers, and all assortments of forces had begun to convene. In the sea, a special task force gathered including the following: HMS Hermes, HMS Invincible, HMS Fearless, HMS Intrepid, HMS Bristol, HMS Glasgow, HMS Cardiff, HMS Exeter, HMS Brilliant, HMS Broadsword, HMS Active, HMS Alacrity, HMS Ambuscade, HMS Avenger, HMS Arrow, HMS Andromeda, HMS Minerva, HMS Penelope, HMS Yarmouth, HMS Endurance, HMS Leeds Castle, HMS Dumbarton Castle, HMS Valiant, HMS Spartan, HMS Splendid, HMS Trenchant, HMS Talent, HMS Hurworth, HMS Ledbury, and support vessels. They begin positioning themselves around the Island. The plan will be to drop paratroopers prior to a naval landing, after which a beachhead and then front may be established. The German High Command has been informed of the plan, codenamed Operation Valiant.

From: Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Dear Secretary General,

It is of the utmost importance that the aggressive Iraqi regime be met with resolute condemnation in the General Assembly, I would like to form a United Nations coalition to oppose this action and liberate the Kuwaiti nation, in the name of international peace and diplomacy. I will write to Saddam Hussein to at once withdraw, if he refuses, I will be seeking a military alternative as I have said. I hope you can support this action, in the defence of liberty.

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

Dear Mr. Hussein,

It has come to the attention of the British Government that your armed forces have invaded the independent nation of Kuwait. I am deeply concerned by this course of events, and wish to see a de-escalation and most importantly peace. However, the values which the British Empire spread through the world, democracy, liberty, and prosperity, will not be forgotten at the behest of peace. We will not stand down should you decide to challenge the peace that has held since the Second World War. Already international pressure mounts, I ask of you sir, withdraw, or we shall be forced to intervene - on the side of democracy.

Regards,
Margaret Thatcher

Thank you very much. Years ago I and others, founded the Australian Republican Movement with the same spirit that has brought us together tonight.

Patriotism - pure and simple. Love of this nation above all others. A profound commitment that every office under our Constitution should be held by an Australian. We are citizens of a most remarkable country. We seem to be living in an age when technology is advancing but tolerance, or mutual respect, is retreating. Around the world, most bloodily today in Kuwait, we are reminded that peoples and faiths which had lived together for hundreds of years are now at each other’s throats. And yet, here we have created the most successful multicultural society in the world - no comparable nation has so many of its people born beyond its borders or from such a diversity of cultures, religions and races. Our values of democracy, the rule of law, mutual respect, a fair go, mateship are all consistent with the values of other democracies - but the combination, the Australian formula is unique – it is unmistakeably ours. The cause of the Australian Republican Movement is a cause for Australia. We do not diminish or disrespect the patriotism of those who take a different view, but we have no other motive, no other reason than love of country. We look neither down nor up. We look to each other with respect and admiration and we say we are united and we are Australian. And so our Head of State should be one of us.

But we always knew, and often said, that an Australian republic is far from inevitable. Indeed history is littered with inevitable causes that never came to pass. Only hard work, smart work, unrelenting advocacy will secure an Australian republic and so while the convivial surroundings draw me to an evening of fond reminiscence, tonight I will offer you my frank analysis and advice on how to win - because I know more than most how we lost. What I am going to say is not influenced by partisanship or political advantage. I am speaking to you as one of the founders of the movement, a passionate Australian republican and one who wants you to succeed. But I also speak to you recognising that the Constitution does not belong to the Government, or the Parliament, or the Judges. It belongs to the People. Only they can amend it.

And so, my friends, my fellow Australians, we shall endeavor to hold a referendum in line with Section 128 of the Constitution to amend it, and make Australia the Republic it deserves to be.

Transcript of the Address, 18 December, 1989

Her Majesty, The Queen
Buckingham Palace,
London, UK

Dear Your Majesty,

Your Prime Minister in Australia has begun the process of seeking a Republic, it is my understanding that you would wish to know that this move has been made from someone on the ground, witnessing the process. There is little public polling on the process, but Hawke's personal popularity alone may be sufficient in carrying the referendum to success. It is guaranteed passage in New Zealand, Victoria and South Australia. As per the dual-criteria of the Australian Constitution regarding amendments, carrying a national popular majority is unlikely unless Queensland or New South Wales pivot towards supporting the referendum.

Sincerely,
John Howard,
Most Loyal Leader of the Opposition

Dear Mr. Howard,

I thank you for your diligence in writing to me so quickly. It is my view, notwithstanding any external factors, that should the wish of the Australian people be to have a Republic of their own, that is their freedom, and solely their decision. I do not see how I may be of assistance, direct intervention on my own part, through speeches or action would result in an inevitable win for the Republican movement. However, I believe the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher has intentions of meeting with you, as she has expressed to me many times. If there is any way I may be of assistance to you and your loyal cause, please do continue this correspondence.

Most sincerely,

Elizabeth R. I.,
Queen of Australia

Dear Mr. Howard,

I would like to meet with you at your earliest convenience to discuss the Republican Referendum. It is my Government's view that the Australian peoples would be stronger, united, and powerful as equal partners in the Commonwealth and by the sharing of a monarch. Long gone are the days of the Empire, now it is time for compromise, for diplomacy, and friendship, however, the most important thing in this fractured world is unity. As the Americans so often say, "Una stamus, dividui cadimus" - As one we stand, divided we fall.

Warsaw, Poland
after times of struggle in Poland, the economy had dipped yet again.
the leaders of the people's republic knew that the people had had enough. with Perestroika and Glasnost implemented by Gorbachev, the poeple decided to march in the streets of Warsaw. They were calling for democratic elections. The failure of the People's Republic had become clear.
Secretary Mateusz Wojizki considered what to do. He started to speak with leader of the democratic movement and have the problems settled peacefully.
after long talking, and protests turning into riots, a agreement came to.
it became clear. Poland was going to split up.
Image
that was the idea. the North Prussian Republic would hold a vote to see if they would join the Peoples Republic, the Democratic Republic or stay independent.

to be continued...

John Howard would be whisked away to Number 10 immediately after he landed in the UK. His visit was kept a secret to most, and only Margaret Thatcher knew about the specific reason he had visited. She would meet him in a the Cabinet Room, with the Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd also in attendance. She welcomed him, shaking his hand, before sitting down.

Margaret Thatcher | "Welcome, Mr Howard."

She gave a barely noticeable smile, and sat with her hands on the table.

There was a new world, and for awhile many anticipated a huge political shift. Communism had survived into the 90's and had taken Korea with it. Asia was a hot bed of Communist sympathizers, from China to the Kim's ruthless all Korean controlled state. For awhile it seemed that even the Cambodian people would have fallen as well, the domino effect was mostly real. The Americans and West were absolutely correct to fear that growing threat, but disaster after disaster had plagued freedom in the region. Their was one light in Asia that had grown from the darkness of the red menace and that was the Khmer Republic. A proud nation that had fought tooth and nail to survive the red plague that had come so closely to extinguishing them. The Khmer Republic was now, alongside Taiwan, become the Americans greatest ally in the region, especially as a hold out in south east Asia.

It seemed that the military dictatorship that had dominated Cambodia had been the only thing that kept it from being destroyed as such the military was seen as saviors. A huge statue of Lon Nol had been erected in the capital of Phnom Penh and as Lon Nol was a superstitious man the people would sometimes come to spread sand around the statue for good luck and protection. American aid now poured into the nation, perhaps Korea would have been the one to experience this should they never have fallen. Business and the modern world had been rapidly moving to the Khmer Republic and it was soon to be announced that a new economical car company would be launching in the capital as well as electronic business thanks to student exchanged programs with the United States.

It was time to adress some global issues, as such the Prime Minister began.

Prime Minister Bora Prak of the Khmer Republic addressed the nation through television and radio

" In these troubling times, it is of utmost importance of the Khmer Republic to make it's stances known on global politics. First we will begin with the most pressing matters. The Khmer Republic condemns the invasion of Kuwait by Iraqi forces, it is a total violation of Kuwaiti sovereignty and we plead for Saddam Hussein to spare further bloodshed of both Iraqi and Kuwaiti peoples. We will stand with our western allies and NATO on their decision regarding this act of aggression and will be willing to assist in any way we can.

The next issue will be the escalating tensions between the German Empire and Eastern Bloc nations, especially that of the Democratic Republic of Germany and the Soviet Union. While we believe that nuclear weapons and their development should strictly be used in self defense and are incredibly painful and destructive to humanity, it is our position that the German Empire is within it's rights to have them with the express intent of defense due to Soviet nuclear arsenals positioned so close to their borders. We do regret the rising tensions and we can also understand the fear that the eastern bloc has, however, until both sides lay down their arms then this cycle will continue.

In regards to the Soviet-Israel relations will always side with the free people of Israel and their struggle against not only Soviet agression but also agression of neighboring arab states that wish to see them destroyed. We will continue to recognize the state of Israel and it's right to survive against extremist or marxist threats. That is all for today, may the light of buddah shine upon our nation, thank you."

It is with utmost respect and humbleness that we have answered your call for increased co-operation against the Marxist threat to economic and military security. It is the President's wish that the Khmer Republic and India further pursure economic and military ties, alongisde our great allies of the United States and western powers. Therefore our leaders of economic leaders and military leaders will soon be planning a diverse action plan to achieve these goals. India has a freind in the Khmer Republic, we both stand against the darkness of communism to our north and east.

It has come to my attention that the Chinese communist state further expects to expand its influence in Asia. I therefore, would propose between our three countries we have trilateral talks. This would include talks on trade, defense, and other such matters. It is of the utmost importance we stand together, as beacons of liberty in a world slowly engulfed in Communist Totalitarianism. I believe through co-operation we may stand against this wave, and eventually see it regress back into the annals of history, where it belongs. I believe you two too would like to see this a reality.

We thank you for your timely response to our call. As you know, Communism is a growing threat to our nations and to the entire world. We have our friends in Burma,Thailand,Iran,Israel and Taiwan to depend on here in Asia. Afghanistan has become nothing more the Soviet's little puppet,Pakistan while close with the Americans are too close to the Chinese and the Arab States would like to see Israel destroyed. Our three nations must come together if we are to defeat Communism. I suggest inviting both Israel and Iran to these talks as they are just as threaten by the Scourge of Communism. With Egypt becoming real cozy with the Soviets, we must also help our Israeli friends. The Thais,Burmese,Iranians and the Taiwanese would gladly join us against the Communists. I propose our three nations meet in London to discuss these matters more thoroughly. Please invite Taiwan,Iran and Israel to this very important meeting.
This nation in no way reflects my IRL views. I created this just for fun.
