The early morning wind carried with it all the familiar smells that one would come to expect from an overflowing camp such as the Aederfolk's. As the sun slowly crept its way over the cloudless grey-blue horizon, the camp began to stir to fulfill its morning routines. For the moment it was relatively quiet and pristine, a perfect morning, something Pywll would have to once again get used to after getting back from his last trek. All said, it was an unremarkable season for the Aeder.

The Sons of Corvus:

There is much weeping and gnashing of teeth in the village of Corvus this year. Despite the lush bounty of the earth and immense surplus of food, this year will go down as one of misery and mourning.

It was Juna who discovered Casa's lifeless body on the floor of the simple hut. Returning from beneath the shade of the hill with a rich harvest of yams, she entered their dugout home to...silence. The life had left Casa's body entirely - it sat empty and ashen, and her eyes stared blankly into nothingness. Spilling her harvest onto the floor, Juna wept, her chest shuddering in grief and despair. The men of the village returned to this somber sight, and both were stricken with this same grief.

Corvin, of course, is the most affected. In his mind, this is punishment from the Spirit for his jealousy and envy towards his brother's bounty of children. He goes silent for most of the year, seeming to age five years in one. His muscled body seems shaken and weak, despite hearty meals and an active lifestyle. Juna and Cavon decide that their time of childbearing should come to an end - they realize that the following years are likely to be one of great strife.

They take her body out to a distant hilltop, leaving it out to dry and for the vultures to carry to the spirit world. The Corvidians are born of the Great Spirit, and they shall return to it in time. Cavon eases their hearts with a firm assurance that her spirit watches over them from the heavens, along with their father Corvus. They are together in the Heavens now, protecting the tribe from the dark spirits of hunger and bloodshed.

Ceston continues to travel alone through the plains of his homelands, a lone wanderer among great blue skies and endless miles of sloping plains. This land contains interesting stones - veins of metal as pitch black as the darkest night, and an odd gray ore alongside it. Ceston plucks samples of these from the ground, placing them into his traveller's bag along with the green stones from the forest. Perhaps a gift for some future bride, he likes to think. It is merely a dream these days - he knows that the Spirit has clearly destined for him to be a silent observer to their beautiful world.

Though he is lonely, he is blessed. He has seen more beautiful sunrises and incredible landscapes than any of his brothers or sisters. He has hidden from the most frightful beasts, and run with the most friendly of the dappled-wolves. His keen eyes pick up every last root in the landscape, and he is a master of subsiding on the gifts of nature. This existence is not one he regrets, though the solitude is troubling at times. Ceston continues South, searching for the river in his dream.

Corvin (M, Warrior, 32) continues to hunt gazelle with the Sling and the pack, his heart filled with grief.
Corvan (M, Warrior Trainee, 10) goes on the hunt with his father.
Cavon (M, Scholar, 30) gathers yams.
Juvon (M, Scholar Trainee, 9) gathers yams.
Juna (F, Worker, 30) gathers yams.
Ceston (M, Scout, 26) scouts South of Southwest, searching for a mate.
Janon (M, Worker Trainee, 7) gathers yams.
Jana (F, Worker Trainee, 5) gathers yams.
Lupen, Lopen, and Cara play in the safety of the fence.

Ninth of Redleaf, Twelvth Year of the Reckoning

The bone-white weapon whistled through the air, embedding itself deep into the hide hung on the side of the palisade. A low hoot came from the warrior who wielded it, and around the campfire the rest of the tribe yelped and stamped their feet in approval. Maria, black hair shining in the firelight, bowed low. Even though her husband had assisted her with the final breakthrough in the design, so that the spear would fly straight and true, it was still she who had labored over it long and hard.

"Now we shall hunt the bison in truth, and bring it down without the artifice of deception and driving it to its doom." exclaimed Petyor, obviously quite happy with this development.

The Mother had blessed the tribe with good rains, and Istvan, who was now the father of the most recent addition to the tribe. With a new bloodline bound to the Deepkin, they would flourish as the Creator had intended. For now, though, there was still much to do. Many were the numbers of those who slept outside of the low stone blockhouse which the laborers had raised, beneath the sky and open to blizzard and storm. It was a grave injustice that such should be the case, since the Kindred had ceased their wandering to be secure against just such dangers.

Jarn (Scholar) labors to tend the fields, seeking a deeper knowledge of growth and the Mother's bounty
Maria (Scholar) begins a work with the small reeds that grow by the river's edge, beating their pulp into mats
Petyor (Warrior) hunts bison as is his wont, armed with spear, atlatl, and knife
Varya (Worker) grinds and mashes, boiling and refining the Healer's Hand into the pale blue liquid that holds the water of life
Istvan (Worker) works alongside Jarn in the fields, gleaning grains from the einkorn with a work-blade
Sylvia (Scout) travels south to gather squashes for food and replanting, keeping her eyes open for any signs of human habitation
Natalya (Worker Aspirant) learns about the making of medicines from Varya, noting how she grinds and separates the herbs
Tanya (Worker Aspirant) follows Istvan in the fields, learning of the parts of the einkorn and how it can be cooked
Ivan (Warrior Aspirant) accompanies Petyor on the hunt, watching how he approaches the bison stealthily to seek a kill
Anna (Scholar Aspirant) follows Maria as cuts, beats, and heats the reed-pulp
4 Children
Varya and Petyor are seeking a child

Seasons come, seasons go...

The passing of these four seasons is mostly quiet. The folk of the Hesukar band espy great flames rising from the forests to their south at times, and their lungs choke and gasp on smoke-filled air, but fortunately, the immense fires do not move north enough to trouble them otherwise.

Warclyfe: The folk of Tes'la have ample food for their bellies this year. A modest quantity of the native copper that can be found in the stream-beds has been laboriously gathered, though Lu has an unfortunate tussle with a too-curious crocodile that has left her with a not-insignificant wound to her left leg.

Deepkin: There is slightly more than enough food for the tribe. Varya has prepared a few doses of the Healer's Hand, and Sylvia has successfully transplanted a few squash runners to near the tribe's home. A boy child comes to the Varya and Petyor, a boon in their growing age.

Jarn has now deepened his knowledge of how the plants grow where they do, observing the different consistencies of soil, the insects that fly here and not there, the light that the plants turn to to flourish, and more. He is becoming a regular farmer, in truth. Maria's efforts have also yielded results, the reed-mats of pulp drying nicely into primitive woven materials.

The Corvidians: There is slightly more than enough food for the tribe this year. Otherwise, there is little to tell, save that the children grow strong and hearty and will soon be young men and women.

Ceston's journey south carries him through wide fertile plains - though still no river beckons him. This land is wide and flat, much as his homeland, a grassland which runs away to the east beneath the warm sun. To both south and west, however, thick steaming jungles are to be seen. Nodding ears of a tall yellow grass grow here, each ear as large as a a man's thumb, but sweet to the tongue. Low feline figures stalk small prey through the fields of grasses, and small ungulates piercing cries and rounded horns chew upon the natural bounty.

The Aederfolk: There is a significant lack of food for the tribe this year. Llyr and Midir, weak from a lack of food, have fallen under ill spirits. Another gleaming spearthrower has Cigfa prepared, a complement to all the spears the tribe possesses. Surprisingly, despite the hard times, Cyhr bears a child. The young boy comes forth easily enough, but the hungry Cyhr is slow in recovering from the strain the birth has placed on her body.

The scholars have succeeded this year, devising new methods of working the ever-familiar flint into keener and less laborious forms. With hammer-stone and hand-axe, much can be accomplished.

West of the Aederfolk the steaming jungle rises, an environment unfamiliar to Pywll. This great forest, however, is not that immense, and soon he perceives that mountains rise up from the warm forest, to both west and north, rising into cold forbidding peaks of great height. Away south, the jungle continues her march. Smooth white stones that shimmer with a translucent radiance dot this region, hidden in the deep shadows save for where chance light throws them into prismatic brilliance. Black sand also marks the small hidden pools of the jungle, a curious thing. All is not well though, for mighty jaguars stalk the trees, and many look upon Pywll with hungry eyes.

Khortuun: There is barely enough food this year - but there is enough. But scarce progress has been made on the hole for keeping the lizards, it soon being clear to both Harro and Kadima that only their undivided efforts were sufficient to hold back starvation from the tribe. It is, however, otherwise a year of much good news. Seypelli's fever has finally broken, and though he is wan and pale from his struggle with the spirits, and his eyes have grown more gray, seemingly drained of life - life he still clings to. Moreover, the small bean plot of the tribe is beginning to expand, small runners finding water and new soil, and the take from the plot with careful harvesting is now approaching the sort of food which actually makes a difference to the tribe's ongoing survival. Additionally, by the spirits' own luck, none of the lizards Harro has taken have managed to escape their bonds and flee the hunter's makeshift hold upon them.

Machaka: The tribe has ample to eat. Aside from that, there is little to report.

Huanca: There is just enough food for everyone to have enough to eat. By Ninan's staunch labors, another hut is rising for the tribe to occupy. There is also an unexpected blessing this year, with Ninan bearing a child, a beautiful girl.

West of west, the dry and inhospitable country continues unabated, stretching off in all directions as far as the eye can see. Ynti shudders to think that this could have been her home, if the high northern mountains had not trapped the storms that came running up from the south often. Wild horses roam here, grazing on sparse vegetation - but jackals, wild sand-colored beasts that hunt in packs which eye her appreciatively, also roam about. Beautiful green stones may be found in the caves and rifts that pockmark this landscape. There is also fortune - remarkably good fortune - though not perhaps exactly what the Huanca wished for. A young girl Ynti finds near the bodies of many slain men and women, who apparently perished of spears and clubs, no more than a dozen years of age. She is desperate for any safety, and more than willing to return with Ynti to the village. She gives her name as Sandsong.

The Huang: There is ample food for the Huang. Ming has begun gathering bitterroot to craft the tribe's favored foul-tasting but hearty powder. She also falls pregnant toward the end of summer, but it soon becomes clear that something is wrong with her pregnancy. The tribe cares for her as best they may, but the child she bears is stillborn after a labor of two long days, malformed and coming far too early, and her bleeding after the birth continues for days. When it is finally staunched she is on death's door, and only the immediate consumption of the gathered bitterroot allows a spark of life to cling to her body.

The Riverlanders: There is plenty to eat this year, and sadly no new life is joined to the tribe with the passing of the seasons.

Great success attends the efforts of the Riverlanders this year. Shaping earth, wet clay, and soil together, Magnus has created a low construct kindred to the one that he previously used for melting copper for sandcasting. It will not last forever, as rain and snow and heat are slowly crumbling it, but the concept is sound.

The Pennenthelli: There is enough food for the tribe to eat this year, but none left over to be saved against hardship. The keen new bow, however, will no doubt be a boon, as are the two long flint knives that Latozar has finished. No child graces the tribe this year, but that is perhaps for the best, for feeding another mouth would be difficult.

The Nirari Band: The tribe has plenty to eat this year, and with good feeding and attentive care Varys has gotten over his light illness, which is just as well. The report from the north-east is very interesting. Great trees with golden leaves and silver bark grow there, and fragrant chestnuts as well, and the greens stones the tribe knew before may also be found in that soil.

The Saladonian Band: The band eats well, gathering many hides for their sledge. A new foal has even been born into their small herd of horses which grazes near the camp.

The Hesukar Band: The band feasts on mammoth-flesh, taken from the old and young alike after being driven into trees where they cannot escape. Brayva has heaped up a small shrine of stacked stones to the Black Kings near their campsite, a place where worship may be directed to these fell deities.

Thus ends the account of the year, and the thirteenth year begins, one prone to be lucky... or perhaps not...

The entire clan mourned over the loss of their own. The stillborn child was given a ceremonial name and the body buried. Ming cried so much that it seemed has if rivers flowed from her eyes, and a sense of deep sadness hanged over the entire clan.Life moved onwards however. Tao would concoct a medicinal poultice and give it to Ming and hopefully she would be hale and hearty once more. What more could be stated? During times of ill luck and ill fate thought is often eroded by the relentless tides of misfortune and bad luck. The Huang would look after each other, family was the most important thing and relationships between each other would only grow stronger with the misfortune that haunted them. Petty grievances and slights would be pushed aside, and the Huang people would seek to become more united, cultivating their social relationships every member of the clan acting has a peg to hold one and another up. Selfless duty required it, this was the way of the Huang in generations past, the present and the future.

From a distance, the deer looked peaceful, drinking water from the river.

Of course, that deer, one of the many that inhabited the same forests as the Aeder, would feed the whole tribe for some days. The Aeder had a special relationship with the deer of these woods. The deer were one of the primary sources of food for the Aeder, and an animal put on the earth by the god Cahir. In so hunting these animals and sustaining their bodies, they glorified Cahir and his sustenance ran through them. Or so that was what the tribe believed.

He, along with other opportunistic hunters of the Aeder, have been hunting deer for years. Plenty of tails were turned into mementos to be hung on the Aeder's huts.

He aimed his spear thrower at the deer, his years of experience in hunting kicked in.

"Yes I'm taking away your life and your freedom but that's how the world works," he thought to himself. "I can't allow for my tribe to starve. I need to eat too you know."

A loud twang came from behind and the deer fell on its side, not moving. Startled, he turned around and saw another Aeder, Pywll, with his own spear thrower out, empty from the spear just thrown.

"I had that deer," he protested as Pywll walked to the dead deer.

"You waited too long," the man responded. He took out a piece of flint and cut off the deer's tail. He then took out reed rope from his bag and begin to tie the deer's feet together.

Ninth of Riversturn, Thirteenth Year of the Reckoning

Maria flounced over to the fire and dropped into a sitting position next to her husband, who looked up in surprise. Wordlessly she passed him a strange white piece of fur - no, not fur. Fur wasn't this thin, and didn't smell of plants and firewood. It also wasn't this pale. Jarn turned the piece of not-fur over, examining it closely, and noticed that it seemed to be made out of lots of little bits of something stuck together, and held color where he touched it.

"Alright, you've got me. What is it?"

His wife shrugged eloquently.

"No idea. I had thought that, since the hearts of the reeds are soft and willowy, we might be able to make clothing out of their fibers drawn together, clothing that would be softer than pelts or dried furs."

Jarn nodded. It was a good idea. Though they lived much as their forefathers had, clothed in the resplendent hides of their kills, furs were hot in summer and stiff in winter. Also the laborious soaking, scraping, and softening process necessary to make them shape broadly to the body was long and too much sweat and swearing. A different form of garment, especially one as soft as this not-fur, would be very useful.

"But", Maria continued, "the issue is that the result is too weak. Look." With a small twist of her hand, she caused a visible rent to appear in the not-fur, and Jarn nodded once more. It wouldn't do to wear a garment so frail and easily broken. It would stop neither thorn, nor spear, nor horn of the bison, and that was not a trade the scholar was willing to make on behalf of his fellows.

He pondered the matter, then picked up a piece of burnt wood from the nearby fire. His hand, slightly dirty from firing meat for the noonmeal, had marked the not-fur easily. It was remarkably uniform in color, a dun tan mixed with pale sand. Pressing down with the charcoalized end of the stick lightly, he sketched one of the trail-signs the tribe used for hunting, to indicate that there was water nearby. Normally the sign would have been cut with a knife into the bark of a tree, but here the black soot of the stick marked the not-fur cleanly.

"Curious." mused Maria, and both fell silent, considering the opportunities.

The Nirari Tribe
Migration to the Golden Woods

The tribe packed up its things and began their trek northeast, to the lands described by Lilitu as the Golden Woods due to the gold colored leaves on the trees with bark of silver. These trees, the familiar green stones, and the chestnuts which they knew of from before led the tribe to decide that traveling to this region would be the best. With Lilitu as their guide, the Nirari found their way to a grove of the described trees and set up their shelters. With the camp site established Lilitu roams the region searching for any other people that could join their tribe to grow its number. Meanwhile, Niun hunted the animals of the woods to provide food for the growing tribe. Meanwhile, the two young twins begin to diverge in their interests. As Isrid starts asking questions about why they wander and why the trees look different here, Tyris asks about the tools that Melein use and make. The early stages of them specializing their talents has begun at last. The youngest, now healthy before the journey, continues to be a toddler and requires the attention of Niun when he is at the camp.

Lilitu - Female (25) Scout: Leads tribe to Golden Woods, searches Golden Woods for other people to join the tribe.
Melein - Female (27) Worker : Herds the children along the path, sets up shelters upon arriving in the new lands
Isrid - Male (7) Child - Child Things, Asking Questions about the world around them
Tyris - Male (7) Child - Child Things, Asking Questions about the spears, bows, and other tools of the Nirari

The Canyon-Dwellers
Year 13

The Saint Namur Archaeological Trust has discovered a continuously inhabited site in a rift valley on the edge of the Salhuura desert believed to be several thousand years old.

Director of the Saint Namur Archaeological Trust, Garram Salis, said "This new discovery is particularly important as it proves, beyond a shadow of doubt, that this region of the desert was actually inhabited by prehistoric man for far, far longer than previously believed."

The site lies east the Dudakhan Flats, and the shallow cave of the Middle Stone Age site is clearly one of the eldest found in the region to date. The site was first discovered in 2005 and contains an arrangement of eating utensils, flint tools and animal remains. However, the site’s true extent was difficult to interpret until the Saint Namur Archaeological Trust used state of the art photogrammetry techniques to record the remains. The first task was to create a 3D digital model of the landscape so it could be experienced by non-archaeologists. It was then excavated by the Archaeological Trust during the summer and has revealed a cohesive habitat on the edge of the rift valley, likely to have seen continuous habitation for several generations.

Garram continued: "The site contains a wealth of evidence for technological skills that were not thought to have been developed for a further couple of thousand years, such as advanced horticulture. This site shows the value of Neolithic archaeology for understanding the development of civilisation.

The Saint Namur Archaeological Trust is working with the National Archaeology Centre (NAC) to record and study, reconstruct and display the artifacts recovered from the site; many of which are currently being stored in the Greater Desert Dore Research Facility (GDDRF) for further study. Dr Suzamma Macelson, the curator at GDDRF, said "It has been really exciting for us to assist the Trust's work with such unique and historically important artifacts. This is a great example of how our repository is able to support the delivery of a wide range of science related to the wider desert biome." While touring the dig site on the edge of the rift valley, Corto Tiuc, the history broadcaster and host of History Now, one of the world's biggest history podcasts, commented that he was both awestruck by the variety of remains and shocked by the apparent rate of erosion.

The artifacts from the site itself, coupled with advanced horticulture skills and finely crafted tools suggests a Neolithic (New Stone Age) influence. Research in 2019 was funded by the Scorpion Trust, the Butlam Research Group, the Edam Feort Foundation and the Saint Namur Archaeology Trust. Work was conducted with the help of volunteers and many individuals who gave their time and often money, to ensure the material was recovered successfully.

Kadima (Female, 33, Warrior) hunts – flint spear to hand - whatever creeps and crawls.
Wylla (Female, 34, Scholar) assists, as best she is able, with the widening of the tribe's humble bean plot - and gathers mushrooms in the wild.
Matha (Female, 32, Worker) gathers mushrooms and beans in the wilds; and toils, in her spare moments, on the widening of the tribe’s modest bean plot.
Zebas (Male, 31, Scholar) joins Wylla in her toil for the care and nurturing of the tribe's bean plot; and likewise in her search for fleshy mushrooms.
Ohan (Male, 12) follows in his mother's footsteps, picking mushrooms with the best of them.
Yantewe (Male, 11) gathers mushrooms as best he can, and joins Kadima on successive hunts.
Seypelli (Male, 11) dedicates, with his newfound strength, time and effort to gathering of mushrooms.
Ykka (Female, 6) eyes the toil of her fellows with poorly concealed pity. What could they possibly expect to achieve?

Saladon Nomads
Fourth year in the Saladon Northlands
As time goes by, the Saladon Nomads continue living across the great plains of Saladon. Comfortably living upon the land. They began looking to the future, and hoping that their descendants would too walk these great plains. Now confident that they could roam these plains with relative ease and safety, they began looking into starting families. Varrus and Fara hoped that they would find themselves with a child next year. They would continue their jobs and tasks like always, however. Lana though, began crafting clothes for the growing child out of the hide she collected last year. Hopefully making the childs journey into this world more comfortable. All was well on the verdant plains.
Varrus (scout, M): Foraging
Fara (scholar, F): studying a way to preserve tubers
Lana (worker, F): Creating clothes for the upcoming child, made out of hide.

Varrus and Fara trying for a baby
Items: Sledge, 2 Fired Spears, self bow, 1 hide, 1 bone, 3 native copper
Animals: 3 horses,

The Pennenthelli

"My friends, today, I have come to a decision. You all know that it is something that I have long pondered, but in the end, it is with a heavy heart that I say that this land, that welcomed us thirteen winters ago shall be behind us." The chieftain said as he stood up by the campfire, watching the assembled tribe as they had finished their morning meals, all eyes fixed on their leader. "Last year was one where all ate their fill, only just enough, and for everyone, including all our future children to eat their fill and more, we need to find new and bountiful lands. As our brave ranger has told us, such lands await us in the south. It is less bountiful when it comes to treasures like Sundrop ore and glittering rubies, but it is more plentiful in food. Sweet berries grow in great abundance, far more than here. And down in the south, we need not fear the river. We can drink it's clear waters and fish from it freely." He paced slowly as he spoke. "This means that we'll be moving as soon as the spring weathers allows us, pack the tents, pack the tools and weapons. We shall go on the paths again."

And so, after a long time in the riverbend land, the Pennenthelli once more made ready to move, to find new, more welcoming horizons. Avunan hoped that in the South they could live well of the fat of the land, perhaps learn how to have their own meadowland full of the red berries Jen talked so long about, how sweet and tasty they were. And they would be having full access to the rivers and it's fresh, clear waters to drink, to wash with, no longer only relying on little streams far away from lurking terrors. And, of course, they would be able to go an catch fish, something that he had expressly ordered his tribe not to do in this land. We don't fish in the serpent waters, ever! He had said. Even if it means we go hungry that day. As the spring days passed the tribe gathered up their valuables, tools and teepees, making ready for the long journey ahead. On the last day before they went along the trails that Jenwin had trod some years earlier, the Chieftain and his bondmate stood solemnly at their daughter's grave, a small mound of earth, now green with the grasses of the plains. As they embraced in solemn remembrance, Avunan thought that one day, one day he shall come here and raise a marker, something for all to see, something to make his descendants remember that this is the place their ancestors had come to, that this is where one of them rested for all time, spirit in the afterlife.

Avunan (Scholar - M - 28): Leading the Migration to the land in the South, carrying one Teepee.
Kathildra (Scholar - F - 27 ): Migrates South with the tribe, carrying two knives and herding the kids.
Henimen (Warrior - M - 29): Migrates South with the tribe, carrying an axe, spear and bow.
Jenwin (Scout - F - 28): Migrates South with the tribe, carrying a sling, knife and bow.
Latozar (Worker - M - 28): Migrates South with the tribe, carrying one Teepee.
Ronan (Kid - M - 10): Migrates South with the tribe, being taught the culture and faith of his people while being watched by the adults.
Ahleth (Kid - M - 4): Migrates South with the tribe, doing kid things, being watched over by the adults.

The River Folk, at the Mouth of the Riverlands

Lo, the furnace returns! The pinnacle of Riverfolk technology, reborn once more at the hands of Magnus. Now, the two scholars would work together to craft fine blades using their sand technique, greatly increasing the gatherers' pace.

Magnus (M, Scholar) - Searching the river and surrounding plains for shining stones of yellow and orange, for his wife's laborious work. (Gathering Copper)
Eliana (F, Scholar) - Crafting blades of Sunstone for use in gathering maize and other crops. (Crafting as many Copper Work-Blades as possible, using the gathered copper)
Katrina (F, Worker) - Gathering food for the clan, a mix of maize and any other edibles available.
Bronwen (M, Worker) - Tending to the maize planting, caring for it and letting it grow. He now uses the Selective Harvesting method taught by Magnus, hoping to improve the crop over time.
Varin (M, Scout) - Gathering food for the clan, a mix of maize and any other edibles available.
Fiona (F, Youth) - Helps her mother Katrina gathering, learning the best ways to harvest maize.
Anduin (M, Child) - Does child things

Neither couple tries for a child this year, until their food situation is ascertained.

The Sons of Corvus, Year Twelve:

The year is relatively uneventful, though they do not grow hungry. Corvan will come of age soon, and once he adds to the hunt, Cavon will feel comfortable heading back to more scholarly pursuits. As is, however, Casa's loss is still felt deeply, and his hands are needed to provide food for hungry bellies. He works together with Juvon on digging out and creating a patch of wheat close to the settlement - perhaps this would be a consistent and easy source of food, assuming that they master the art of its cultivation.

Ceston continues to travel, carrying on as he heads through similar plains to his homeland. Perhaps, someday, their descendants will cover these rich lands in settlements and homes. Surely not in his lifetime, but in the ceaseless years of the future many things may be possible. He subsists on delicious ears of yellow grass, as well as occasionally taking down and devouring one of the strange horned beasts.

Feeling particularly bold this year, he decides to head into the steaming jungle to his south. With rain comes all sorts of animal and plant life, and perhaps other humans as well. Perhaps his chances of discovering a mate are better here, he decides, and begins to explore this strange new climate.

Corvin (M, Warrior, 33) continues to hunt gazelle with the Sling and the pack.
Corvan (M, Warrior Trainee, 11) goes on the hunt with his father.
Cavon (M, Scholar, 31) attempts to create a planting of the wheat crop close to the shelter.
Juvon (M, Scholar Trainee, 10) assists his father in this venture.
Juna (F, Worker, 31) gathers yams.
Ceston (M, Scout, 27) scouts South of South of Southwest, searching for a mate.
Janon (M, Worker Trainee, 8.) gathers yams.
Jana (F, Worker Trainee, 6) gathers yams.
Lupen, Lopen, and Cara play in the safety of the fence.

Seasons come, seasons go...

Nothing troubles a tribe or band this year. If ought passes, it is not known to the peoples of the world.

Warclyfe: There is ample food for the tribe to eat this year. Working with carefully heated bands of native copper, Bo is raising a small shrine to the Lightning Lord. It shall be some time in the making, working by hand when the metal is just hot enough to handle without burns and yet hot enough to mold. Lu's injury, unfortunately, has begun to fester, and gives off a horrible smell.

The Deepkin: There is plentiful food this year. Varya has prepared several more herbal remedies. Unfortunately a dry year has seen the einkorn planting of the tribe shrinking, and no children bless the tribe.

Jarn's attempts to understand how the squash grows have been successful - he soon understands that it needs less water and light than the einkorn to which the tribe is used, but will grow in looser soil with ease.

The Corvidians: There is not quite enough food this year - though the shortfall is slight. Juna has taken ill with a vomiting-fever, perhaps the sign of a deeper issue, or merely a seasonal sickness. Cavon has established a small planting of the amber grain that grows about their home at the base of their hill, though it is minute in the extreme. The pack is also dwindling, one of the kindred-wolves having disappeared during a night, perhaps back to its own pack.

South of south of southwest, Ceston plunges into a warm jungle. Small chittering creatures, like short men, swing between the trees overhead, and white rock that glistens in the sun protrudes from the earth. Small furry beasts like large rats, but as large as his torso, graze near small tropical streams and pools. To the west the jungle stretches onward, but Ceston soon perceives that to both the east and south mighty mountains wreathed in mist mount upward.

The Aederfolk: There is slightly more than enough food for all to eat their fill. The spirits must be watching over the tribe, for both Cyhr and Lyhr recover with no significant trouble from their maladies, though Midir remains sick and wan. No children bless the tribe this year.

Khortuun: There is ample food in the canyons this year, though the bean planting is stubbornly refusing to expand in noticeable girth. One of Harro's fat lizards has made a break for freedom, neglected. Surprisingly, Kadima bears a child, a beautiful baby boy.

Machaka: The tribe has ample to eat, and has made a breakthrough. Simple numerology, and the mathematic concepts associated with humble addition and subtraction, have been developed by the minds of the Machaka.

Huanca: There is more than enough food for the Huanca to consume across the seasons. The third hut has been raised in their village, now quite the landmark here in the highlands.

The Huang: The Huang have ample food this year, and Tao has gathered a fair amount of bitterroot in his yearly labors. Ming is slowly recovering, fortunately. Liu Luoyang is pregnant in late summer, and bears a healthy baby boy late in the rainy season.

The Riverlanders: There slightly more than just enough food this year for all to eat their fill. Magnus has gathered a small amount of copper this year, and Eliana, perceiving their lack of fuel for the fire, has gathered branches and sticks to feed the furnace. Surely next year their forging can begin in earnest. Usefully, the maize planting is expanding, which will bring boons in terms of food to the future.

The Pennenthelli: The migration south is easy and light, good weather favoring their journey. Ere long the Pennenthelli enter a new lush country, where they look forward to beginning their lives anew.

The Nirari Band: The Nirari arrive in the Golden Woods uneventfully.

The Saladonian Nomads: The Saladonians eat well, and it is not long before the cries of a child fill their makeshift home. The baby girl is most welcome, though Fara is left weak by the ordeal and ill.

This year the Saladonians have succeeded in drying and curing some of the tubers, leaving the food beneath a thin coverlet of earth and snow to develop a tough dirty skin which shields the crop from rot. It does not hold back decay long, and most of the crop is unusable from year to year, but some small amount of food stability this should afford them.

The Hesukar Band: A noble sacrifice is made to the Black Kings this year, the blood of a mammoth yearling running over the altar of stacked and broken stones which the band have dedicated to their fell masters. Perhaps this sacrifice will forestall their wrath yet longer, or aid the traveling band against those who might assail them. Brayva has gathered a stout amount of flint for her work, and two pups are born to the wolfhound pack in the depths of winter. No child is given to the tribe this year, however.

So ends the account of the thirteenth year of the reckoning, and a new year begins...

The Nirari Band
The Golden Woods, Habitation Year 1

The arrival in this land has given the tribe a new energy. The lands around them had a mystical aura to them that brought about some behavioral changes. Again however, Lilitu would explore ahead of the tribe to determine the next good location, hoping the river valley beyond the bear infested section was fertile enough for the tribe to migrate to in the coming years. The lands they were in did have food to spare in the form of its animals and the chestnuts that the tribe were already familiar with. However, better lands may yet await them further from these woods. With Lilitu gone, Niun is again the primary hunter/gatherer for the tribe. However, he finds that he has some help in gathering the chestnuts from young Tyris who is seeming to take after his mother in his work habits, he will one day become a great worker for the tribe.

Back at the camp, Melein is keeping Varys from running afoul of the others who are working while she is encouraging the young Isrid to study the world around them. She herself never was the best at learning the ways of the world, however, that did not mean that her son could not pick up this talent for himself. The youngster was fascinated by the trees here in the Golden Woods and frequently asked to see the bark of the trees this year, finding both the texture and coloration to be interesting as it was unlike any other tree he had seen before. Melein did what she could to also learn about these trees, she searched for a way that this bark could help the tribe in the future. At night, when the whole tribe was together, save for Lilitu who was pathfinding for the tribe's next movements, they shared the experiences of the day with one another by the fire. Tales of Niun's hunts told along side Isrid becoming excited about the various trees and other natural things surrounding the tribe.

Niun - Male (27) Warrior: Hunts for Food and Hides
Lilitu - Female (26) Scout: Explores Northwest, bypassing the bear infested portion of the river
Melein - Female (28) Worker: Works alongside her son Isrid in looking for uses for the unique bark from the trees of the Golden Woods
Isrid - Male (8) Child - Learning to be a Scholar, Observing the trees and their unique bark to try and make something from them.
Tyris - Male (8) Child - Learning to be a worker, Gathering Chestnuts for food
Varys - Male (5) Child - Child Things

Another year had passed in the verdant green lands of Zhongguo, one of hard work and labor. Ming rested in the hut, feeling better but still weak. She hoped that she would feel healthy again she hated being a burden and wanted to help her fellow tribesmen has best has she could, though Tao told her not to worry and to get plenty of rest. Nearly the entire clan was dedicated to gathering food. Tao saw a issue with the fact that there was a lack of tools available, and it was a repeating issue, if Luoyang stopped to craft tools then the tribe would run out of food, but if they kept neglecting that area then eventually they would be unable to ramp up food production and their clan would be unable to feed the growing tribe. Tao wanted to continue working the jadegrass, but he knew that he had to work and craft some simple spears so that more food could be hunted.

Meanwhile Tang was at the age where he could begin doing chores. The boy had his head in the clouds, and was reprimanded for not working by Luoyang. Life was harsh and childhoods where short, it was unfortunate but necessary, Tang was not like Chao or Han who enjoyed fishing, and gathering berries and tubers, he often looked at the heavens every night and asked too many questions. Why does the moon change shapes? Why does a puddle disappear after it rains? Where do clouds come from?Questions that annoyed nearly everyone who was trying to work.Tao however couldn't help but see himself in the boy, he was clever, and had a spark in his eyes.Tao thought his curiosity and thirst for knowledge was a good thing. Still he would tell him these questions would have to wait, and to do his part to help out not daydreaming or bothering others with his questions.

Liu Qin-Bouncing baby boy.
Liu Han (Trainee Worker)- Fishes in the Yu River, learns hunting.
Liu Tang -Begins chores. Daydreams, and asks lots of questions.Scolded for being idle.
Liu Song-Bouncing baby girl.
Liu Ming-Rests in the hut.
Liu Qing (Warrior)Male: Fishes in the Yu River and hunts game
Liu Tao (Scholar)Male: Crafts has many bone spears has he can.
Liu Luoyang (Worker) Female:Fishes and hunts
Liu Yan (Scout) Female:Fishes and hunts.
Liu Chao (Trainee Worker)- Fishes in the Yu River, learns hunting.
Liu Hua-Bouncing baby girl.

The River Folk, at the Mouth of the Riverlands

The roaring flame of progress burns on the silent Riverland plains. The sturdy mud-daub furnace surrounding it was tended to by Eliana, scholar of the Riverfolk, hard at work despite the summer heat. For the moment, however, she had little to do - other than watching the progress of her task in the furnace itself. The flame's hottest point had become the home of a mound of stone that glimmered with orange and yellow streaks, slowly becoming softer and softer before eventually melting into a heap of golden liquid. From there it would slowly slide into a cast of sand and rock, settling into not just a lump but a fine blade, harder than anything the Riverfolk had ever seen before. A smile crossed Eliana's lips - things were looking up.

Magnus (M, Scholar) - Searching the river and surrounding plains for shining stones of yellow and orange, for his wife's laborious work. (Gathering Copper)
Eliana (F, Scholar) - Crafting blades of Sunstone for use in gathering maize and other crops. (Crafting as many Copper Work-Blades as possible, using the gathered copper and fuel)
Anduin (M, Youth) - Gathers fuel for the furnace, branches and sticks that scatter the plains.

Both couples try for a child.

Huanca

Sandsong is doing rather well among the Huanca now that a year has passed. She still is hesitant to talk about her old tribe and what happened in the west. Which the Huanca are not going to pry just yet, they plan on just waiting until she is ready to talk about her old tribe. She had proven to be a smart individual despite her age. Koyakusi has speculated that Sandsong was perhaps the daughter of the wise man of their tribe. Koyakusi likes teaching her the way of the Huanca, the gods and what the tribe knew. Sandsong was receptive to Koyakusi's teachings and it seemed she was a good candidate to be a wise man of the tribe. Helping Koyakusi better understand the potato and sometimes hangs out with Inkaurqu in her free time.

Meanwhile, the tribe goes about its business. Achik hunts and cares for his children along with Ninan who now works to expand the farm now after finishing a hut. Jaylli does his normal routine of both collecting and farming the potato while training Inkaurqu to be a worker like him. Ynti for the moment decided on staying near the tribe and help Achik with the number of young ones in the tribe. Helping to raise both her son and Sandsong who has taken a liking towards. Perhaps it is because it was Ynti that found her in the desert all alone that with the bodies of her tribe. The children of Huanca play and do what young toddlers do. Things are going well for the tribe overall despite Jaylli still wishing to find someone for him. Still, things are stable for the tribe and Koyakusi wises that it stays like this.

Koyakusi(M, Scholar,33) - studies potatoes on how to grow then properly(Potato Comprehension), takes care of Taruka and trains Sandsong
Achik (M, Warrior, 34) - hunt alpacas for food and cares for Inkaurqu, Mallku and Anku
Jaylli (M, Worker, 33) - collect potatoes, tends to the farm and trains Inkaurqu
Ninan (F, Worker, 35) - expands the farm and care for Inkaurqu, Mallku, and Anku
Ynti (F, Scout, 32) - helps Achik hunt and cares for Sandsong and Taruka
Inkaurqu (F, Child, 7) - Learning to be a worker from Jaylli and helps Jaylli collect potatoes and tend to the farm
Mallku (F, Toddler ,4) - Being a toddler
Taruka (M, Toddler, 3) - Being a toddler
Anku (F, Baby, 1) - Being a baby

Saladon Nomads
Fifth year in the Saladon Northlands
The Saladon Nomads gladly welcomed a new member into their group and into the world. Chana would be her name, named after the wolf-spirit that lived in the mountainlands that the nomads had originated from. This would have been a happy occasion were it not for Fara falling ill so suddenly after birth. It was abnormally bad, making Varrus fear for his loves safety. Going so far as to use the hide cloak that Lana made for their daughter to help keep her warm.

However, Fara would insist that Chana keep her cloak, and refused Varrus pleads. Regardless, the nomads continued to go on throughout their days. Fara worked on recovering, Varrus hoped to use their new techniques on preserving food to trade some tubers, and Lana began collecting food in Varrus's stead. Varrus only hoped that he could trade with the in the southeast tribe, so that he could obtain some decent hides. Time went on, on the verdant plains.
Varrus (scout, M): Collecting Tubers
Fara (scholar, F): Recovering
Lana (worker, F): Collecting food
Chana (child, F, hide cloak): Doing kids things

Items: Sledge, 2 Fired Spears, self bow, 1 hide, 1 bone, 3 native copper
Animals: 3 horses,
Name: Ted
