So what is the point of showing people say they are trying to have kids when it is just happens randomly?

Depending on how G's doing it, there is a certain percentage chance of children happening regardless of action. Noting that they are trying for children increases it. Example: I used 5% as the base for a child being born per female of a tribe. If they are trying for a child, that increased to 50%.

I may end up regretting removing a scholar from food, but I really want those work-blades and I imagine gather + craft isn't very effective.

I think it's just because most of us are still at the subsistence farming level right now. I mean, there's not a ton to post when I drop the whole gang on food again.

I think most people just don’t realize how generous I’m actually being with food - and therefore how much food a single gatherer actually produces, and thus how unassigning that gatherer causes your food to plummet.
