Character Position/Role/Job: Representative for Colorado's 2nd Congressional District
Appearance:(Image)
Character State of Origin: Colorado
Character State of Residence: Colorado
Character Party Affiliation: Democratic
Main Strengths/Weaknesses: Telegenic young woman, and thus not lacking opportunities for rent-a-quote media appearances disproportionate to her minimal legislative accomplishments (renaming two post offices, not exactly the stuff serious political careers are made of) ... and thus taken seriously by precisely no one. Tiny bit of bipartisan appeal having been a rare Democrat to have worked with the Liberty Caucus ... but that bipartisan appeal is something that about three-and-a-half DC policy wonks care about, and literally no one else: too far to the right for the progressives in her party (ridiculed as the "Congresswoman for Tel Aviv" by her DSA primary challenger), too orthodox Democrat for anyone else, leaving her with little influence. Impressed gun-owners by campaigning as a fellow gun-owner who grew up hunting in the Colorado mountains ... immediately disappointed gun-owners by voting the party line on gun control at every turn. Personally wealthy ... because everyone just loves that, right. Accomplished guitarist ... also plays the banjo.
Biography: Emilia Palledino grew up in an upper middle class household in Boulder, Colorado. She has subsequently attempted to build a certain log-cabin mythos, hunting in the mountains and such, but it was really a sheltered existence of enviable comfort and financial security, complete with private school and skiing lessons. An interest in finance and economics was sparked by the Asian financial crisis of 1997, and she pursued that interest on to college at Stanford, where she majored in economics. During college she interned at Goldman Sachs, and after graduation was recruited to JP Morgan Chase. While working for them, she married Jason Reynolds.
Over the next nine years she worked in the investment banking and then private equity divisions of JP Morgan Chase and Nomura, in New York, San Francisco, Buenos Aires and São Paulo, before returning to her native Colorado to join hedge fund Markhor Capital. She remained with Markhor for two more years before stepping down to begin her political career, going from the world of high finance to the Colorado General Assembly House of Representatives, where she chaired a sanitation subcommittee and was mainly known for her advocacy of zoning reform. After a single term, she entered the primary for the newly vacant 2nd Congressional seat. She was dogged by questions about her inexperience, which she was rather grateful for as they distracted from more probing questions about what she had been doing at the height of the financial crisis, but navigated a crowded field of candidates as a relatively moderate candidate with polished media skills and an expensive staff including some experienced Beltway operatives. She won a decisive victory in the 2016 general.
In office, Emilia was an outspoken opponent of President Wolf's agenda and a largely loyal Democrat. Despised on the right (and by some on the left) as one of the faces of liberal feminism, she was a dogged advocate of reproductive rights (though achieved no noticeable legislative successes in this, or any other, policy area). She chaired the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access. A hardliner on the question of Israel, she consistently co-sponsored anti-BDS bills. She earned minor ignominy for what was perceived as a flippant response to a constituent asking on Twitter about support for veteran services, but it did not seriously harm her reelection chances in the 2018 blue wave, and increased her majority.
Other Info: Trilingual (English, Spanish, Portuguese). Closeted atheist. Married with two stepkids and one of her own.

Character Weight: 187 lbs
Character Position/Role/Job: Congresswoman from Ohio’s 9th District
Appearance: Kristi Noem

Character State of Origin: Ohio
Character State of Residence: Ohio
Character Party Affiliation: D
Main Strengths: Progressive Stalwart
Main Weaknesses: Uncompromising
Biography: Born to two Polish immigrants Alexandra Gilicki has memories of her parents studying for their citizenship test at their kitchen table. Her parents arrived with nothing fleeing the Soviet Union before settling in Ohio, they could barely read Polish and couldn’t speak any English. Her mother took a job as a seamstress and her father worked in a factory, eventually becoming a plant manager. Alexandra was the third of 4 children and the only girl, despite this her mother insisted she get an education.
She attended high school in Toldeo, getting a job as a waitress at night to help support the family and save for college. Through financial aid and a good scholarship Alexandra was able to attend Michigan State University for an undergrad in Criminal Justice - Pre-Law Degree. She would go to the University of Cincinnati to earn her Juris Doctor.
Graduating in 1997 she moved back to Toldeo and married her long term boyfriend who owned 2 restaurants in the city. After being admitted to the bar in 1998 she began work as a civil lawyer in a real estate firm while doing pro bono work for women in family court. During this time she had 2 children and became politically active with various groups through her pro bono work. In 2004 she was elected President of the Toldeo Women’s Bar Association. In 2007 she was appointed Assistant District Attorney for Toldeo and was assigned to the Special Victims Bureau becoming the head of the unit in 2009 when she became a strong advocate for abused children.
With a reputation for working hard and being tough but fair she was admitted to the US Supreme Court Bar in 2009. She continued to work as an attorney in Toldeo and furthering her local notoriety until 2014 when the incumbent Congressman for Toledo’s 9th district retired. Her local connections with major advocate groups, her polish heritage and tough reputation helped her win the primary and then the general by a large margin.
After her 2014 election she hit Congress hard focusing on early progressive issues such as climate change and income inequality. She has passed few bills but authored several large progressive pieces of legislation regarding the minimum wage, criminal justice, and climate change, recently she was one of the primary authors of the GND.
