You gotta wait for him to file the paperwork, there’s no news about him officially having a campaign yet.

Biography:
Jennifer Gretchen Marshall (née Asquith) was born in Oklahoma City on the 15th of October, 1969. The only child of an attorney and his stay at home wife, Jennifer lived a comfortable existence, not lacking in terms of physical possessions or the unrivalled affections of her parents. The financial situation of her parents meant that Jennifer was able to attend the private Casady prep school, where she excelled in her studies. However, her high school years also saw Jennifer develop her first sense of political identity, electing to join the Democratic Party in 1983 as a result of her view that the Democratic Party was more fiscally responsible with regard to managing the finances of the United States in comparison to the perceived frivolous spending undertaken by Republican administrations. Upon graduating High School in 1988, the young Ms Asquith studied International Affairs at George Washington University, it was during her college years that Jennifer truly began to develop her political identity, actively campaigning within both the College Democrats as well as within the 1988 Democratic presidential primaries for the candidacy of then-Senator Paul Simon, an event that in combination with her parental upbringing, caused the young Jennifer to gravitate towards being a 'Blue Dog' Democrat, she would use the experience gained within the College Democrats in order to secure an internship with the DNC over the course of her college education, a matter which would stand to benefit her upon graduation.
Upon her graduation in 1992, Jennifer Asquith moved to the state of Kansas, using the experience and contacts she had developed within the Democratic Party during her studies at George Washington University in order to find employment within the Kansas State Democratic Party, specifically on the staff of the then-Representative of District 19 of the State House, although viewing a large part of the work as being relatively mundane at first, Jennifer continued to put her utmost into it, in preparation for pursuing elected office in the near future. This opportunity came within the next election cycle, with the announced retirement of the 19th District's Representative enabling Jennifer to pursue office. Running on a campaign of fiscal sustainability and a moderate social policy, despite attacks on her perceived youth and inexperience Asquith narrowly won both the Democratic primary and the general election with 36% and 50.6% of the vote respectively.
Overall, Asquith's time in the House as rather unremarkable, mostly voting in line with the Party and focused primarily on establishing connections that would enable Jennifer's political career to advance further. Despite this however, a particular area in which State Representative Asquith became notable for speaking on was agricultural policy, most notably the issue of agriculture subsidies, speaking frequently in favour of maintaining agricultural subsidies with great eloquence enabled Asquith to act as a minor surrogate for the Clifford campaign for the 1996 Presidential Election, which saw her actively campaign within her own District and the wider state, an effort which despite the state voting for (Not-Dole) enabled Asquith to enhance her credentials within the Kansas Democratic Party and acted as a springboard for her to use within the next election cycle.
Come the 1998 Midterm Elections, Asquith ran for the 3rd Congressional District of Kansas, running on her previous platform of fiscal responsibility and social moderation in addition to utilising the media coverage she had accumulated over her State House tenure in order to win the Democratic primary with 51% of the vote and then going onto being elected to the House with 53% of the vote after rather successfully courting independent and moderate voters. Soon after being inaugurated, the now Representative Asquith joined the nascent Blue Dog Coalition of fiscally conservative and socially moderate Democrats, soon after, Representative Asquith began to develop reputation for being amongst the Coalition's most eloquent speakers, regularly speaking on issues of prime concern to the Coalition, even if it times it went against the wider Democratic whip. The following year, Jennifer Asquith married Howard Marshall, an accountant who Jennifer had initially met whilst studying at George Washington University and who she had recently reconnected with through mutual friends.
However, in the wave of patriotic fervour that swept across the nation following the September 11 attacks in New York City, Representative Marshall for a time began to take interventionist foreign policy positions, supporting the 2001 Invasion of Afghanistan as well as the initial Invasion of Iraq in 2003. Despite becoming critical of the lack of planning for governing Iraq post-Saddam, Representative Marshall continued to support a US, most notably by joining 30 other Blue Dog Democrats in refusing to pay party dues to the DCCC in protest of remarks by California Representative (Not-Woolsey) calling for anti-war activists to launch primary challenges against Democrats who voted against ending the Iraq War.
Come the Democratic Primaries for the 2008 Presidential Election, Representative Marshall almost immediately endorsed the candidacy of Senator Clifford, with the Representative becoming an enthusiastic surrogate for the Senator's campaign within Kansas soon after. Despite this however, Representative Marshall's attempts were in vain, with Senator Baharia decisively winning Kansas in the primaries and then going on to win the Democratic nomination. Despite this setback, Representative Marshall supported the Baharia campaign to the fullest extent possible. As a result, and despite Kansas voting for McDowd, Representative Marshall had ensured that her political position was secure, particularly within the Blue Dog Coalition, which elected her as its Co-Chair for Administration in January 2009.
Ultimately however, Representative Marshall's tenure as Co-Chair of the Blue Dog Coalition saw it face difficulties within the House with regard to votes on legislation that the Baharia campaign had primarily campaigned on, most notably the issue of a public healthcare option, this was exacerbated further as a result of members of the Blue Dog Coalition on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including Representative Marshall, successfully delaying the House vote on the Health Insurance Reform Bill until after the 2009 summer recess, a matter which stirred a significant degree of controversy amongst the Democratic grassroots, and amongst some members of the DCCC for that matter. Consequently, the 2010 Midterms saw both Representative Marshall and her Caucus in a poor position, with the Representative having received relatively low amounts of finance and support from the DCCC due to the previous opposition of the Blue Dog Coalition to elements of the Baharia campaign's legislation. Despite this, the Kansas Representative pushed hard for the House campaigns of her fellow Caucus members, to the extent that her own campaign was neglected at times as a result. Despite her efforts though, the Blue Dog Coalition lost more than half of its members in that year's elections, including Representative Marshall, who narrowly lost with 49% of the vote.
The immediate months following her electoral defeat found the former Representative Marshall embittered as a result of the lack of support that had been afforded to her, but most importantly several of her caucus members in fighting for reelection. However, Mrs Marshall decided to avoid stoking any controversy that might damage any potential prospects for a return to political office in the future, instead electing to care for her young son and generally spend time with the family that she had been unable to enjoy fully whilst on the Hill for the time being. However, opportunity would soon after come to Mrs Marshall in the form of a vacancy for the Cabinet position of Commerce Secretary following the resignation of (Not-Locke) in the August of that year. Despite initially holding reservations regarding the position, most notably her perception that the position was primarily intended to keep her from criticising any aspect of the Administration after the Midterms, however, Mrs Marshall made the decision to accept the offer and was nominated by the Baharia Administration over that summer and fall. Marshall's confirmation was a relatively uncontroversial affair, with her emphasising both her strong record of experience on the Commerce and Energy Committee in addition to her ability to work in a bipartisan manner, consequently, Marshall was confirmed 58-42 in favour in a vote that fell for the most part on partisan lines, with a small number of Republican Senators crossing to vote in favour.
Upon being sworn-in, Secretary Marshall made it her main priority to work on Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement between the US and 11 other nations that would if successful have the record for the largest regional trade agreement in history. Secretary Marshall soon became a strong proponent of the trade agreement, arguing that it would allow American farmers to have lower prices and the ability to enjoy easier access to foreign export markets and would allow the wider US economy to continue to recover following the Great Recession. In addition, another notable issue surrounding Secretary Marshall's tenure was the thaw in relations between the United States and Cuba, despite this, Secretary Marshall pushed the White House to continue the embargo of the Cuban economy for the time being based on human rights grounds, efforts in which she was successful. Despite the relative success of her tenure at the Commerce Department, the 2016 election saw the work undertaken by the Secretary being undermined and opposed, most notably of all the work done on the TPP which after Secretary Clifford was forced to tack to the left as a result of the primaries, meant that both major parties opposed continued US membership of the TPP. Soon after, Arnold Wolf Sr was elected as President, an event which left Secretary Marshall, who had once again been an early endorser of the Clifford campaign, both astounded and to a degree disheartened, with the Secretary cutting back on media and public appearances as the transition took place, instead focusing on ensuring that the Commerce Department was fully prepared for the new Administration whilst also steadying Us trading partners over the course of the Presidential transition.
Upon the end of the Baharia Administration in January 2017, the former Secretary Marshall found herself receiving an offer to work as a commentator for the Bloomberg television network, an offer which Mrs Marshall accepted with little hesitation. Using her experience both within the House and then as Secretary of Commerce, Mrs Marshall quickly developed as a hit feature of Bloomberg, particularly as her commentary regularly criticised the President on the trade front, arguing that the increased protectionism from the US was damaging American soft power as well as leading to a poorer economic situation in the long term, placing a great deal of emphasis on the farming community with the latter. Despite this, Mrs Marshall soon became privately dissatisfied with being out of political office, something which would present an opportunity in 2018.
Come the 2018 Midterms, Mrs Marshall took the step of running for Governor of Kansas, running on a platform of fiscal centrism and responsibility as well as emphasising her experience on both the Hill and at the Commerce Department, Jennifer Marshall was able to win the nomination with 52% of the vote in the Democratic primary. Soon after, Mrs Marshall tacked to the centre ground for the general, emphasising her ability to work across the aisle on scrutinising legislation and for passing legislation, a matter evidenced through the scale of her confirmation vote in 2011, in addition, Mrs Marshall primarily focused on winning over anti-Wolf Republicans and independent voters as a result of a lack of enthusiasm for her campaign by progressive Democrats in Kansas' urban areas. Soon after, Mrs Marshall secured a surprising victory, being elected Governor with 49% of the vote.
So far, Governor Marshall's tenure has primarily been focused on supporting the agricultural community within the state of Kansas, placing a slight increase in the level of state agricultural subsidies in order to minimise the impact of the US-China trade war on Kansas farmers as well as efforts by the Governor to heal the national political divide within Kansas. Currently, Governor Marshall has remained relatively silent on the 2020 race to replace Wolf, waiting to see how the Democratic primary shapes up before taking a hard stance behind any particular candidate, although now might just be the time for such an event to take place.

Main Strengths: Veteran, Former Football Player at Ole Miss, Generally Seen as Someone Who Wants to Help People due to his Pre-Political Career
Main Weaknesses: Brash Speaker, Has Spent Large Chunks of His Life Outside of Mississippi in Either Louisiana or DC, Never Elected to Statewide Office Before (Needs more weaknesses, like actual character flaws.)Charles "Chip" Montgomery Renfus Jr. was born on March 11th, 1975 in Madison, Mississippi to Charles Sr. and Martha, both of whom descended from a long line of relatively wealthy Southern Democrats. He was their second-born child and second-born son and would be joined by two younger sisters by the time he was 6. As one might imagine for a family that lived in one of the wealthiest towns in Mississippi, they were relatively well off.
Madison has excellent public schools, which were where the Renfus children would spend their days. Speaking of High School, once there, Chip was much more interested in sports and girls than he was his academics. If it weren't for the fact that he was a pretty damn good player on his school's Football and Baseball teams, there's a decent chance he would've been a D+ average student given that he didn't care all that much about academics. But thanks to some intervention from the school's administration, he would graduate with a B- instead. After getting an A in his Politics class Senior year, he decided he was a Republican, much to shock and horror from his still Democratic parents. With a high school diploma under his belt, he would go on to attend the University of Mississippi after signing on to play for their Football team. (which position did he play, out of curiosity?)
Of course, when your a College Football player, you tend not to care all that much about the academic side of things. Chip was pretty good at doing his job, becoming a star player during the [Not-Tuberville] era. But, of course, football wasn't the only thing he ever did during his time in Oxford. He went to parties, became a brother at Sigma Chi, might've gotten a Cheerleader pregnant but aborted it so we'll never know, etc, etc, basic college stuff (Aborted baby is basic college stuff? What have I been missing out on). But besides all of those things, during his time as a Junior, he became interested in serving in the military after graduating. And so, that's what he went on to do. (No NFL offer? Maybe he wasn’t that good...)
Joining the Army as an Infantry Officer soon after graduating with a BA in Southern Studies with a minor in Political Science in 1997, he would first be deployed to combat during the Kosovo War, but besides that note, his four years in active duty would be fairly standard. Retiring out of active duty and into the reserves in the Summer of 2001, Chip would move to New Orleans, given the higher economic prospects when compared to Mississippi, and found work in a management role at the Port of New Orleans. Of course, 9/11 happened a few months later and quickly changed Chip's plans. He would re-join active duty as soon as physically possible and would arrive in Afghanistan and then Iraq two years later. Finally, in early 2004, he would retire once again from Active Duty at the rank of Captain, but continued to serve in the Reserves until his election to Congress. He was no war hero, he just did the job he signed up to do.
Heading back to New Orleans, this time gaining employment at the Port of South Louisiana, Chip was generally hopeful towards his future. He was adapting to civilian life, had a promising career on his hands, and was finally starting to look at the possibility of settling down much to his Mother's pleasure. Of course, for the second time in his life a major disaster would strike changing all of that, it being Hurricane Katrina this time around. Chip was able to get out of the city before landfall, being evacuated to Houston. The only thing good that came out of Chip's time in Houston is that he would finally find his future Wife, a Houstonian Nurse named Ashley Klein. By the time he was able to return home he had found his home to be rather destroyed and unliveable.
Unsure of what to do next and generally displeased by the Federal Government's response to Katrina, Chip along with the help of several other Katrina survivors would get together and found a non-profit with Chip serving as it's CEO, Rebuild New Orleans was its name and as well as its goal. It would see success helping to rebuild several neighborhoods, but it's not like one non-profit was going to rebuild all of New Orleans. As time marched on, the organization grew both in reach and size. As damaged areas remained unfixed all along the Gulf Coast, it was decided in late 2006 that the non-profit would transform itself into Rebuild the Gulf, changing its name, expanded its goal, and relocating to its HQ from Chip's Apartment in Mandeville to Gulfport.
Back home in Mississippi after ten long years, Chip was very much a different person than when he left. Politically speaking, it was nice to be back in an area that was undeniably Republican, also helped that he was a big fan of Governor [Not-Barbour] and his response to Hurricane Katrina. He was such a fan to the point where he became an independent campaign surrogate of sorts for the man during his 2007 reelection campaign. And luckily for Chip, he was able to get the attention of the Governor himself which would lead to a working relationship between Rebuild the Gulf and the State of Mississippi after [Not-Barbour] won his reelection, which as one might imagine, only helped Rebuild the Gulf in achieving its goal. (Discuss more about this nonprofit organization.)
He wasn't all that surprised when Rashid Baharia was elected President, and if we're honest, he never fully understood the whole Socialist Muslim Kenyan thing (Lame that he is not racist). But something that did get Chip's knickers in a twist was the fact that he was represented in the House by a Conservative Democrat who, by process of being a Democrat in the US House, was supporting Baharia's and [Not-Pelosi]'s agenda. And with the encouragement of Ashley, his now Wife given that the pair got married in 2009, Chip would declare a run for the seat against the Incumbent Democrat first elected in 1988.
He would win the Republican primary over a Mississippi State Representative thanks in part to an endorsement from Governor [Not-Barbour]. In the early days of the general election, it was often thought Rep. [Not-Taylor] would be re-elected, maybe not by previous margins, but re-elected none the less. But as time marched on and Chip continually campaigned with the popular Governor, he started to rise in the polls. It also helped that he would gain the attention of local media after pausing his campaign during the first two weeks of the BP oil spill as to make sure his non-profit would be prepared to take the crisis on. As election day got closer and closer, Chip would engage in a vigorous campaign on mail-out flyers pointing out that [Not-Taylor] voted for "Hollywood Liberal" [Not-Pelosi] for the Speakership and voted in line with her and Baharia's "Coastally Elite" agenda more than 80% of the time. By the time election day was coming around, the race was labeled a toss-up by most news organizations. As night marched into the early morning, it was declared Chip won 52% to [Not-Taylor]'s 47%.
Once in Congress, Chip would get to the business of generally supporting the conservative Republican Party line, generally supporting bills that had major bipartisan support in Congress, and representing the more unique facets of his district what with it being a coastal district that faced major damage in the aftermath of Katrina and the BP oil spill. He did use the Democratic Senate to his advantage getting two bills he sponsored during his first term, one creating a government program that allowed decommissioned rigs in the Gulf to be transformed into artificial reefs and another that allocated more funds for NASA to do research in space, passed into law with bipartisan support.
When it came time for 2012, Chip had initially been planning on supporting [Not-Barbour] up until he announced he wouldn't be running. From that point on, he found himself an early endorser of [Not-Gingrich], campaigning for the man all over the South. But as the primary would march on, he would fall in line behind [Not-Romney], although given how the South votes, he wouldn't become an active surrogate for his campaign. Chip himself easily won a second term given that the Democratic nominee in his district dropped out due to his Mother's declining health and his replacement was never able to muster up much support.
As 2016 was heating up, Chip had one question when it came to who he was going to endorse, will this person win the election? See, Chip was looking to advance politically, either to the Governor's Mansion or the Senate preferably, and given the general differences between his district and the rest of the state he knew he'd have to get some kind of agriculture bill passed into law to boost the chances that the rest of the state would back him in a primary. So, he would sit back and watch waiting to see how it would all shape up before the primaries even started. Of course, before long, it was increasingly clear that the only two people Mississippians were supporting were Wolf and [Not-Cruz], so he endorsed Wolf before the Mississippi Primary. He didn't expect the man the win the general so he began planning out how to get a bill passed under a Republican Congress and a Clifford Presidency.
Of course, Wolf won and that simplified things for Chip's proposed agriculture bill, let alone any other bill he introduced that he was able to find traction for in the 115th Congress given the Republican trifecta. As he had done for most of his career he continued to generally support the Republican agenda in the House during this term. Come the 116th and his first time ever being in the minority, he found himself rather bored and still looking at higher office as he eyed the Mississippi Gubernatorial, waiting to see if the Lt Governor of his state would run. When it was announced, in early February, he wouldn't make a run, Chip jumped in, announcing around a week later in Gulfport. Naturally, he's missed a few votes so far with Congress, but he's been there to vote against the Cannabis and Gun Bills and has said he'll support action against Iran once the recess is over.
It was a crowded primary, featuring five other people running besides Chip, but Chip knew how to make room for himself in the race start right from the beginning when in his announcement speech, between the relatively usual conservative/populist/Wolfist stuff, he stated he'd accept the Medicaid expansion as Governor. He would continue to attract attention with interesting ads such as one featuring Chip, his pickup truck, his shotgun, and various Mississippi Regulatory Codes. It should also be noted that the personality-driven nature of Mississippi politics certainly helped Chip in the long run of the race given who wouldn't want to sit down and have a beer with the man? He would win a plurality of the vote in the primary held on August 7th, coming in with 34% and advancing to the runoff with the second-place finisher, a Businessman from Tupelo, who got 31%. The runoff race was heated and predicted to be close, and on August 28th it was declared Chip was the winner with 51% to 49%. So far, most have attributed Chip's win to the man who won the Lt Governor Primary, the current Secretary of State of Mississippi, who endorsed Chip soon after the first primary and campaigned with him throughout the runoff, projecting an image of a ticket that could fight against the Democrats.
As to if Chip can win the race and become the next Governor of Mississippi, well that has yet to be seen.

Character State of Residence: Idaho
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Main Strengths: Rich as fuck, with a keen business sense. Strong appeal to Libertarians and mainline Conservatives. Has a long, stable, loving marriage and only one child that publicly hates him. At least he isn't racist (towards black people) or sexist. Is seen as an outsider in politics, which is probably an advantage in the GOP. His intensely protectionist rhetoric fits well with blue-collar GOP voters. Previous Presidential runs in 2008 and 2012 have given him some national name recognition. His demeanor, while not exactly everyone's best friend, is still likable enough: a brash, well-spoken, somewhat intimidating "good-ol'-boy" who's invested in his community.
Main Weaknesses: If you managed to quantify and subtract the personal moral fiber of Dick Cheney from that of Mitch McConnell, you'd get a higher number than Keller's--he may talk a big talk about morality and decency but at heart he's a businessman. He's never held an elected office, and there are quite a few scandals you can throw at his business practices. At risk of seeming out-of-touch with normal people, due to his wealth and privileged background.
Biography: Born in 1954 to Andrew Keller Morgenstern--Vice Chairman of Texaco--and Lorna Lee Morgenstern (nee Astor)--granddaughter of Vincent Astor, one of the richest men in America--in the city of Galveston, Texas, Keller Morgenstern had a silver spoon in his mouth and oil in his veins. He grew up bouncing between the oilfields his father stalked, bellowing at slow-moving workers, and the gilded halls of his mother's old-money family in America and the UK. He never felt at place with the Astors, however, much preferring the rough-and-tumble, sand-blasted world of Texas oilmen.
After graduation from a prestigious private high school, Keller attended the University of Houston, where he earned an MBA in Business Administration in 1976. At age 22, he was already on his path to being a wealthy man.
After graduation, Keller returned home to Galveston, to make good on a deal his father had made him before he left for school: if Keller could come up with a viable business plan before he graduated, Andrew would give him a small loan of one million dollars to help start it up.
While at Houston, Keller--working with his friend Sam Cott--had laid out the plans for a chain of gas stations and convenience stores, supplied with Texaco oil, that would begin in Texas and hopefully stretch across the country. Andrew, impressed by his son's detailed plans for his first venture, agreed to the loan, and the first ReFuel Gas and Convenience opened in Galveston in 1977. By 2019, there would be 300 ReFuel locations, an empire that stretched across all 50 states and employed thousands. (Why does he have to be Texan, is my only question. The Texas businessman trope is so played out in this RP already!)
Throughout the late 1970s and the early 1980s, Keller and Cott aggressively expanded ReFuel's area of operation beyond Galveston. They often used shady tactics, hiring criminals to intimidate and harass landowners who wouldn't sell prime land, leaning on local officials with Keller's money to help them seize land the company wanted. Several lawsuits were brought against Keller, Cott, and ReFuel from 1979 to 1985, and while many were thrown out, some judges, juries, and witnesses insisted on sticking to their principles. Keller personally lost almost a million dollars during this period, and ReFuel struggled to survive. (He’d probably lose more than that with so many cases and their associated costs and fees. Also some of this stuff is straight up extortion, how does he get away with it?)
Then, in 1986, a miracle happened. Sam Cott died, struck by a speeding car walking around his neighborhood in Galveston at night. The driver was never found, and Cott was discovered to have left Keller a chunk of money and property in his will, almost double what his only child--his 7-year-old daughter, and her mother, Sam's widow--had been left. The widow Cott tried to fight the inheritance and claim a larger share, but spent so much money on the legal battle that, after nearly a year of vicious fighting, she dropped her suit, taking her daughter back to Minnesota where she was from.
With the sudden infusion of $3 million, Keller was able to pay some of his legal debts, in addition to some of his company's, and begin expanding the chain. ReFuel stations began popping up in Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, and Louisiana throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. (These money amounts still seem weirdly small.)
In 1987, Keller met Andrea O'Brien, granddaughter of former Texas Governor Preston Smith, at a Halloween party thrown by a mutual friend in Austin. Andrea was only 22, compared to Keller's 33, but they were attracted to one another--Andrea to Keller's money, and Keller to Andrea's political connections. They also genuinely liked each other, Keller for Andrea's gentleness and sly sense of humor, and Andrea for Keller's big personality and intelligence. After courting for two years, the pair were married in 1989. They have three children: Keller Andrew Morgenstern jr. (born 1990), Ophelia Ima Morgenstern (born 1992), and Victor Houston Morgenstern (born 1994).
In January 1990, barely four months after Keller's wedding and three months into Andrea's first pregnancy, his father died. Andrew Morgenstern was 62 when he had a heart attack in the shower, fell, and gave himself a concussion on the porcelain of his bathtub. He left his wife his Galveston estate and home in San Antonio, along with a tidy sum of money and a life insurance payout. Keller got the family's vacation home in Boise, Idaho, along with nearly $25 million. Keller and Andrea, after the birth of Keller, jr., relocated to Boise. The vacation home was refurbished to act as a true family home, and the Morgenstern family officially moved in in September 1990.
In 1991, a ReFuel Gas and Convenience in Wichita, Kansas, caught fire and exploded, killing three--including Evangeline Crawford, a nine-year-old girl, and her grandmother Sarah--and injuring twelve. Although blame could not be placed on Keller, a wide-ranging safety inspection of ReFuels across the country found that many of the chain's 210 locations had faulty, cheap, or unreliable safety measures in case of fire or accidents. The subsequent payout and rebuilding effort cost the company $29 million, and the Board of Directors held a vote to oust Keller as CEO, which failed by just one "nay". Instead, they fired the company's safety inspectors, and Keller said publicly that the work on the unsafe stations had been done by "unskilled, probably illegal migrants...not Americans, people who couldn't get a job done properly." These comments caused an uproar, however, the Board was again unsuccessful in ousting the CEO, and Keller instead issued a half-hearted apology written by a PR firm.
Life at Chateau Morgenstern in Boise was good, as Keller took a backseat from managing his company and his small legion of investments and shares during the rest of the 1990s to raise his children. They attended the best private schools in Boise, and his eldest son, Keller, jr., joined the Boy Scouts in 1996. Keller was impressed with the organization, which he hadn't been a part of as a child, and became highly active in Troop 97 as an adult leader. Keller spent the latter half of the 1990s as Scoutmaster of Troop 97, and served on the Ore-Ida Boy Scout Council. During this time, he donated several million dollars to the BSA, and when the President and CEO of the organization retired in late 1999, the National Leadership Council chose Keller as his replacement. Although the move caused some controversy, Keller's overall solid business acumen and obvious passion for the organization won over many of his doubters; except for Hispanics, who remembered the comments he'd made in '91. Hispanic membership in the BSA across the Southwest dropped for the first three years of Keller's tenure as CEO, and only reached the same level it had previously been at in his final year. (Why the heck would the BSA pick someone so controversial as their head honcho?)
Keller was widely speculated to run in the 2000 Republican Presidential Primaries, however, having recently taken on the job at the BSA and with three young children, he decided not to, instead endorsing Burke and donating to his campaign. That year, he officially founded Morning Star Enterprises, to consolidate his various business holdings and interests under one corporate banner.
In 2001, Keller bought a condemned apartment building in Boise and began converting it to a hotel. This would be the first in his second chain of businesses: the Rise-n-Shine Hotel and Inn chain, which began in Boise and would grow to 130 locations in the US by 2019 (Need to describe that a lot more.)]. He employed many of the same shady tactics with Rise-n-Shine that he had with ReFuel, using his money and connections to pressure landowners and government officials into making sweetheart deals for land and buildings he wanted. (Again, how?)
Keller left his position as CEO of the BSA in 2007, to better focus on his private businesses and political aspirations.
In 2008, Keller, jr., graduated high school and began attending the University of Houston. Later that same year, Keller launched a bid for the Republican nomination to the Presidency. Although popular among conservatives, his campaign stuttered and faltered due to his poor debate performances--he had barely prepared, and while he was a charismatic presence, his grasp of debate rules and the facts of the race was weak. He gained barely 3% of the vote in Iowa, and dropped out soon after. He parlayed his fame into a bid for the Presidency of the local Sons of the American Revolution, a group he had been involved in for years. His tenure in this position was largely unremarkable. (Again, why would a nonpartisan organization pick such a controversial guy?)
In 2009, Keller (who had been a member of the organization for several years) was selected to be CEO and President of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. He has served in this position for the past ten years. During his tenure, the Chamber's ranks grew by 20%, and more Boiseans than before started founding small businesses, while Keller leaned on the local government to institute policies favoring local business. In 2011, Boise was named one of the best cities to start a business in, due to the atmosphere and policies Keller and his Chamber helped push.
In 2010, Ophelia--Keller's only daughter--graduated high school. She attended Princeton University and majored in Political Science. However, while Keller, jr., would go on to become an instrumental part of the Morgenstern business empire after graduation, Ophelia ran the opposite direction. Her previously conservative views shifted rapidly while in school, and she had dozens of blow-out fights with her father every time she returned home. Finally, in 2013, she left Boise after Christmas break and never returned. She has not spoken to her parents or siblings since, and lives in Delaware.
In 2012, the year his youngest son Victor graduated high school and began attending the University of California, Los Angeles to study filmmaking, Keller began a second bid for the Presidency. His debate prep was markedly better this time around, and he was solidly 3rd in Iowa with 20%, behind (not-Rick Santorum) and eventual nominee (not-Mitt Romney). This surprisingly strong showing gave him staying power in the race: he came in a close second in Florida, won Colorado and Wyoming, and took Alaska and Idaho on Super Tuesday. However, his poll numbers when put against Baharia were slipping dangerously low, and after Super Tuesday, he dropped out and endorsed (not-Romney), who polled significantly higher against the incumbent than Keller ever had. (I thought you said he only had one kid? Also would be best if he didn’t win any states, we don’t want To interfere in previous primaries too much.) )
His strong performance in 2012, especially compared to his disastrous 2008 run, was attributed to a combination of factors. Firstly, frontrunner (not-Romney) was seen as too liberal by many hardline conservatives, especially in the West, due to having to compromise repeatedly with the Democratic establishment of his home in Massachusetts; in contrast, Keller was unbeholden to such a record, and made sure to attack (not-Romney) over it repeatedly. (Would be untenable to attack Romney during the election as a Republican.)
Secondly, a wave of anti-establishment populism had begun building in the GOP, particularly in deep red states. Keller sold himself as the alternative, a non-governmental outsider who didn't owe anyone in Washington favors, and could fix the problems in the Capital. Due to this factor and the first, some journalists and commentators in 2016 took to referring to him as "the first Arnold Wolf".
Thirdly, simple bigotry. (not-Rommey) was the first Mormon to ever become the Presidential nominee of a major political party, and a number of Protestant conservatives took issue with this, claiming he was unfit to serve because he wasn't a "true" Christian. Keller, who had begun attending church in 2010 as part of his long-game prep to run, was a "true Christian".
Finally, the personality difference between the brash and rough Idaho businessman and the polished, professional Massachusetts governor benefitted Keller, although not enough to help him win big.
After the Republican loss in 2012, Keller took a break from politics, content to live out a quiet life in his Boise mansion with his wife and son (Seems out of character, why?). Keller, jr. graduated from Houston that year, and immediately took on a hefty role in Morning Star Enterprises. The company's stock soared in 2014, which Keller attributes to his son's skillful management (I don’t think hotels did particularly well during that time period, did they?). In 2017, Keller, jr. was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Morning Star, in a unanimous decision by the Board of Directors (How would a~25 year old person be chosen as CFO of a publicly traded company?) .
Keller spent most of the 2010s relaxing and enjoying life (But you said he was planning a political rise?). Business was booming, Idaho was solidly red still, and he had enough money and public presence that his occasional tirades against Baharia were politely listened to by the Republican establishment. In 2016, he fervently supported Arnold Wolf in the Republican primary, and donated as much money as he could to the Man from Maine.
In 2019, Keller has been observing the Republican primaries, unimpressed by certain candidates (Bernie Porter), and horrified by the rise of Levi Murphy on the Democratic side. He is still actively considering joining his third Presidental Primary, and after Wolf in 2016, feels he may have a shot at winning.
Other Info: Has a net worth of several hundred million dollars (to be exact, $493 million).
Ideology:
-Guns: In favor of repealing all federal gun-control laws, or striking as many as possible and making buying a gun as easy as can be.
-Abortion: While not personally against it, Keller still publicly rails against abortion, particularly late-term abortions, when he wants to get votes.
-Taxes: No. He favors the repeal or significant cutting of income and inheritance taxes, hates the idea of progressive tax brackets, and likes the sound of a flat income tax...if an income tax must exist.
-Universal Basic Income: No. That would mean giving money to poor people, out of Keller's pocket. That's socialism.
-Education: Favors charter schools, private-school vouchers, and privatizing as much of the public-school system as possible. If you can't afford private school, get a voucher. If you can't get vouchers, homeschool.
-Police Reform: Supports the police buying or being given military surplus, supports some privatization of police forces, supports increased policing in "problematic" communities (read: poor). Against the legalization of marijuana. Absolutely pro-private prisons.
-Immigration: Publicly denounces it but hires cheap Mexican labor. Either a border wall or a shoot-on-sight order for illegals.
-Religious freedom: Doesn't care, parrots party line for brownie points.
-Ideal Government: Government should be run like a business, with strong leadership at the top, a slimmed-down structure to avoid cost overruns, and an emphasis on profitability.
