I've got a feeling that Roe V. Wade is in it's last days. Trump will probably appoint someone who will end it.

Political differences aside, it is very tragic for someone to die especially someone with so much time serving our nation in office. May she rip.

I have a personal conspiracy theory that Trump was born under the luckiest star in the world.

If Romney doesn’t want to become a pariah even to Mormons he will vote yes.

That leaves Murkowski, and maybe Collins, with Gardner being a massive stretch

50-50 best case scenario for the Dems

Romney is an institutionalist, and someone who wants to save the Republican Party. He can't save a party this hypocritical, I think he'd join Murkowski and Collins, by that regard.

I have a hard time thinking Pence wouldn't vote for whoever gets nominated, especially if it's someone like like Barett

I think this is the end of the liberal activist SCOTUS for better or for worse. 3/9 conservative judges are gonna be a generation away from retirement. 6-3 conservative majority for the foreseeable future, maybe 5-4 after Thomas passes.

Honestly, I'm not completely sure if I'd care if the Supreme Court went obsolete at this point

And I doubt Biden would pack them anyways

Trump is gonna go down as the most consequential president since Reagan, for better or worse. Even if he loses

The Court literally hasn't leaned Liberal since Johnson. Maybe since Carter. For the past three decades though, it has been stringently slight-Conservative bend, it's most "Liberal" rulings were authored by Republican-appointed Judges in the mold of Kennedy and Stevens.

Filling this vacancy so close to election is an act of the ultimate political hypocrisy, and it's ramifications on judicial philosophy and national unity will be immense. The 2018 Senate Races saw 52.2 million Americans vote for Democratic candidates, and 34.7 million for Republicans. They also sent 60.5 million House ballots to Democrats, while sending 50.8 million to Republicans. This President was elected with less votes. This Senate is held hostage by a man who has turned 'the greatest deliberative body' into a rubber stamp for judicial nominees. Neither has a mandate to fill the vacancy.

Conservatives giving up on passing statutory law and hoping to stack the judiciary to hold hostage the legislative mechanism of the United States through case law is also the single largest failure of Democracy. John Howard, the most conservative Prime Minister of Australia decried case law as antidemocratic in nature, legal theorists universally agree that case law inadvertently alienates voters because they didn't vote to give that mandate to a court. The U.S. is now two steps from a banana republic, have fun lmao.

Edit: unconfirmed considering I heard it from twitter
