I'm running for a position that was created about 3 years ago (so I'd be the 3rd person to hold it)!
very broad responsibilities but little has been done, I wanna go crazy and basically expand it FDR-style

As for their particular initiatives, student governments can ask students to vote on fees added to their tuition, etc. bills to cover costs.

As far as I'm aware, most doesn't even get a seat on the Board of Trustees

How are student governments funded in the US?
We handle funding for all major campus events and almost all student affiliated groups go through our council, so powerful on that side.
On policy, it's generally weak and basically change is very slow because of bureaucratic processes.
