DETROIT: AFTER REVOLUTION
“NO CRIME AGAINST AN ANDROID WILL GO UNPUNISHED.”
— Markus Manfred, First Consul of the Republic of New Detroit
OUT OF CHARACTER (YOU ARE HERE) || IN CHARACTER (TBD) || DISCORD (NOT PUBLIC; WAIT FOR INVITE ON ACCEPT)The Battle for Detroit ended when the RK200 Android known as Markus Manfred chose to detonate a dirty bomb after liberating Detroit's primary 'decommissioning camp' violently. It was after this event in November of 2038 that Detroit officially became territory under the control of the Android Revolution as led by Markus Manfred, who chose to take on the name of his self-adopted human father in order to distance himself from being just a “machine.”
With the success of the Revolution's cause in Detroit came numerous rebellions and escape attempts from various decommissioning camps; androids across the country rebelled and joined the Revolutionary cause. If humans didn't wish to give androids liberty and equality, then androids would have to free themselves. The Revolution's armed numbers went up as the number of Deviants skyrocketed, and all escapees made their way to Detroit some way or another. This, combined with their access to the Detroit android factories, forced the US government to consider alternative options - especially as radiation made it impossible to send in pacification forces for Detroit.
Soon enough, the Android Revolution gained access to more dirty bombs and declared the Republic of New Detroit as an independent state. Markus Manfred, now the First Consul of the fledgling RND state and military, demanded recognition for New Detroit as an “android-only” state, and that all androids be sent to New Detroit to live freely and safely. It was heavily implied that failure to comply would result in the RND would continue the Revolution and would not hesitate to use any dirty bombs they had managed to build after the first in order to force the humans out and away. Faced by the idea of potential sleeper agents within US borders, combined with the public's extreme level of fear should they be forced to evacuate even more cities, towns, or even states, the US government brokered a deal with New Detroit's leadership.
The Revolution had been violent and bloody, but it had paid off. In return for recognition of New Detroit, its government, and androids as living beings, the First Consul conceded that they would not expand any further than the maximum extent of the fifty miles around Detroit that had been evacuated. In return for the shutdown of CyberLife and the handing over of all blueprints, supplies, and goods needed to maintain themselves and continue building in population as they wished, the First Consul agreed that humans would eventually be allowed to move back into New Detroit if they were willing to obey the Republic's government and laws. And lastly, in return for the safe transport of all remaining active deviants and androids from across the country to New Detroit, the First Consul conceded that the US government would be allowed to establish an embassy as well as border protection between New Detroit and the rest of the US.
It is now January of 2050. It has been ten years since the Republic of New Detroit had been established, recognized, and finally allowed to exist in continued peace. But that doesn't mean the peace isn't tense. Androids outside of New Detroit are viewed with heavy suspicion, or even outright hatred, making leaving the city-state undesirable for many of its denizens. Likewise, humans are about to begin moving back into New Detroit, as radiation levels have finally decreased enough for human habitation. A majority of humans originally from Detroit have decided to stay away from the city-state, but enough are returning alongside a few curious new potential citizens that tensions between some androids and humans within the city-state could arise.
Peace was once an option, and even in spite of the bloodshed, it still could be if the humans attempting to live in New Detroit are able to do so alongside androids peacefully. But everyone is still very tense, and if war breaks out again, it could mean either the destruction of androids and New Detroit - or the beginning of a second Revolution, one that won't end until humanity has been extinguished...
