What do you do, you ask? Good question. You will take charge of a nation in modern day, either your own canon NS nation or a real-life one. You will handle all the aspects of managing a nation, such as economics, military, and civil matters. You have endless chances to dominate the world - Choose wisely.

Overview
Located in the Indochinese region of Southeast Asia, it encompasses the former countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia previously colonized by the French. The Socialist Republic of Indochina adopts a tri-party turn-based government, in which each communist party from each of the former countries take turns in a period of 3 years to take the government seat overseen by the Council of Indochina; whose members are seniors of each of the parties.

In terms of administration and education, Vietnamese and English are used in all three states while locally they are also taught their mother language respectively (Vietnamese, Lao & Khmer). With a nominal GDP of $314 Billion and GDP per capita of $2,482 in 2019, its population of 126 million people mostly are living averagely, with around 6% of the population are under the poverty line. Its socialist oriented market economy thrives on direct foreign investments, with major investments mostly going into the tourism and electronics industry. Other main industries include agriculture products, textiles, wood industry, rubber, manufactured goods, ore mining, petroleum and palm oil.

Indochina & The World
So far throughout the peace and conflicts happening in the world around it, Indochina has adopted a fairly neutral stance towards everything. However, they do have better and special relations with fellow socialist countries. Russia(?) is one of the major trading partners and they also buy almost 80% of their military assets from the former country of USSR as well as Russia(?). As for the Southeast region, they have maintained somewhat neutral relations with Thailand and Pilipinas and Malaya, as well as Myanmar and Indonesia.

In the international stage, Indochina is a member of the UN and has been participating in several UN peacekeeping missions throughout the world. Indochina keeps looking to exert itself on the international stage by increasing its economy, and through any means possible keep protecting its sovereignty that its people has fought so hard to keep.

Prime Minister Darryl Soliman was called onto the stage. It was time for him to give a speech to herald in the new year. This was the custom of every Prime Minister. If it were up to him however, he would have decided to stay home and watch the festivities from afar. Every New Year's Eve, they would go out and greet a big city in the nation a Happy New Year. Since this was the start of a hopefully new and prosperous decade, he decided it would be best if he did it in the nation's capital.

He briskly walked along the stage, smiling to everyone present at the venue. The venue was pretty well lit with large white lights and party lights. Most of the stores were closed down and booths were opened up around the perimeter of the ground floor. The floor itself was very spacious and green. The area was filled with plants of all different kinds from 3 different continents, each meticulously analysed for conditions required to grow and whether or not they were invasive. The centrepiece was the largest indoor waterfall ever built. The stage was in front of the waterfall. Participants of the event included regular people watching from the balconies above and politicians and celebrities directly in front of the stage.

The Prime Minister gave out his speech. He gave a run-of-the-mill speech for events, asking for unity and solidarity as they faced a brand new decade, outlining certain issues the country faced and came through in the past year, achievements of notable citizens, addressing possible things the country needs to do, among other things. It wasn't what he considered his best speech, but for an event like this, he considered it pretty okay. He then asked for everyone else to enjoy the rest of the night and popped in a small joke about it.

He slowly walked off the podium, and into the crowd. He checked his watch, it was 11:46. He would probably grab a few snacks from the special buffet once he made his way to the tables. People greeted him while New Year's Music began blaring in the background. An indicator the countdown clock had started.

He would probably talk a bit to some of his close politician friends until 11:55, where he'll begin greeting people and doing a bunch of New Year's customs.




Ten minutes had passed, and as everyone counted the last five minutes , he did so as well in anticipation of the loud fireworks that would come with the last 10 seconds of the countdown. He wasn't a big fan of all the loud noises, but he loved holidays, so he let it slide.

Four minutes had passed, and it was the last minute until a New Year. He wished that this year would bring good luck and fortune to the nation he ruled over. He kept looking intently at the display clock on the stage.

10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1.

Everyone screamed Happy New Year. Couples kissed in a show of their love for one another as confetti rained down from the rooftops and sides of the balconies. Fireworks of all colours, shapes and sizes made amazing displays mid-air. Seeing everyone be so happy and carefree was the best part of all this for him.

May this year be bountiful and prosperous.

The newly-elected President Mustafa Salih of the United Kingdom of Jordan and Iraq gave his first post-election interview to 'Mosul Times', the most prestigious newspaper of the Kingdom. Mustafa was the candidate of the center-right Islamic Liberty Party and won a close victory over Medhat al-Mahmoud, candidate for the center-left Progressive Alliance. Mustafa won on a pledge to reduce taxation, digitize public administration and stem migratory flows from neighboring war-torn Syria.

It's been only a month since you've assumed your office, Mr. President. What will be the first steps of your administration?

"My administration aims to bring a new political culture in our country. It aims to be a modernizing, business-friendly force that will sweep away the bureaucratic obstacles and corruption holding back our Kingdom from achieving greatness. With the Islamic Liberty Party in control of both chambers of Congress, we aim to bring forward the majority of our agenda in the first year and to move fast in implementing our reforms. We've seen how other administrations faltered because they waited too long; they eventually lost their Congressional majority and the resulting gridlock prevented them from making up for that lost time. We instead aim to move forward as fast possible in order to prevent this. Our priorities include legislating broad corporate tax cuts to attract foreign investments, moving fast with the digitization of our public administration and ending red tape by repealing a significant number of regulations."

You are certainly a more Western-oriented free-market conservative than a traditional Islamic conservative. Do you think this agenda will be possible to be implemented in the Kingdom, considering the cultural differences between us and the West?

"I am very much an Islamic conservative. I believe that we must defend our religious values and have pledged to oppose attempts to legalize homosexual marriage or to undermine the Islamic foundations of our society. But I am also very much a liberal when it comes to the economy. I believe that adopting the best practices of the West on such matters does not mean betraying our cultural values. I am thus a firm believer in the free markets, and their ability to produce wealth."

Among your campaign pledges has been to stem the tide of refugees from Syria. You have promised to take measures to step up border security.

"Indeed. Look, we want to help our Arab brothers in Syria. We share a common cultural background. However, there is a limit to the number of refugees our country can absorb. At some point, the burden on our citizens becomes too much to bear. We will thus take steps to enhance our border security; new patrol vessels for our border guards, expanded fencing in the border with Syria, an uptick in the number of border guards, a new asylum law to allow faster deportations. The West needs to understand that they have a humanitarian duty to open their gates to Syrian refugees and that dumping them in our United Kingdom cannot be a long term solution."

You have also given a lot of emphasis on restructuring the public administration. How you would go about doing that?

"My administration will take three steps. Firstly, it will digitize our public administration, in order to reduce red tape and waiting hours. This will make our public sector more efficient and will combat corruption. Secondly, we shall roll back a lot of the regulations that do nothing but add red tape. Thirdly, we shall delegate more authority on regulations to our state governments. I believe that the governments of Iraq and Jordan should have a larger say on how regulations are enforced."

The Emigdio Zambrano Symphony Hall was a vast structure, somehow squeezing itself into Las Mangas, a structure that vehemently refused to conform to the rest of the mild-mannered shops and town structures, acting as if a monument to Rennaissance architecture. Inside, beyond the immaculate and intricate lobbies, the dark expanse of the performance hall was filled with the glinting of belt buckles, glasses, and purses from the lower seating to the balconies and box seatings. However, the focal point of the room was on the illuminated stage, where the Las Mangas Symphonic Orchestra was situated, dressed in concert black.

The concertmaster came on stage, dissolving the audience’s murmurs into applause, then the conductor strode to their podium, eliciting more applause. The conductor picked up her baton, poised to begin, but waited. Up above in box seating, also perhaps the best seat in the house, a small flame appeared, then quickly extinguished as a ring of smoldering tobacco appeared. The smoker nodded to a figure behind them, and exhaled smoke. The orchestra began.

President Sergio Arbelaez examined the cigar in his hand as he at least tried to enjoy the orchestra. Technically, he was there only partly on business, as sharing the box seating with him were prominent members of the Almadarian Nationalist Party. The other reason he chose to be there was a stunt to support the arts-- despite his complete and genuine disinterest in the fate of this orchestra or the future of music in the schools. So, in Arbelaez’s perspective, he was there doubly for business.

“Now, jefe, I talked to you the other day about the grant for the infrastructure program in Palma Roja-- will we expect to receive that money?” Quietly asked a nearby man in a velvet suit.

“I don’t believe having better roads to your town there would do any good-- I think you ought to deal with your criminal problem, señor.”

“Criminal problem? No, you must be mistaken. They’re harmless; we’ll see more good come out of a better road network than cracking down on some drogadictos.”

“Fine-- remind me later and I’ll get you your money, alcalde.”

Another suited individual, not very unlike the first, piped up from a seat behind the President in a hushed voice.

“And what should we do about the protests?”

“What do you expect? Shut them down, we don’t want them.”

The piece ended, and the room went up in roaring applause. The men in the box stood up to clap, and then filed out of the room as the applause peaked and began to subside. The officials, led by, or to be more accurate, orbiting, the President, walked out into the lobby of the Symphony Hall from the stairs to their seats by mundanely dressed bodyguards.

The President’s conversation with a councilmember was cut off as they walked by a persistent and cutting voice.

Think of it: our very own arms companies given a forum to advertise their equipment, and we could sell spots to foreign defense industries as well. “I’m interested. Give me the specifics later, maybe I’ll approve it. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” Arbelaez said, splitting from the group on the street and ducking into an all-black SUV.

The group broke up under the watch of bodyguards, then were driven out in the streets of Las Mangas.


San Arredondo was a mining town, through and through. Manufacturing and other industries were small-time in San Arredondo: its inhabitants lived around, worked in, and had their children play on the perimeter of, the nickel mines. Shabby but colorful structures had propped themselves up as the mining operation brought forth a civilization, eventually culminating in the districts of San Arredondo. You would not find another city like it in the world, much less Almadaria, because no other city was so horribly kept.

Typically, a trumpet or guitar’s lonesome melody echoed over the rows of slums while children in mismatched clothes played street football in their bare feet as to conserve the soles of their shoes, waiting for their lower-class parents to arrive from work bringing whatever meal they could manage. However, today was not the case.

The city square of limestone brick was filled with a mob of furious workers-- members of a union, which were strictly forbidden by Parco Corporation. An increasingly thin line of National Police held them back from the headquarters of the Parco Corporation, just down the square from the seat of the municipal government.

“¡Mantente alejado!” “¡Cubre tu flanco!” Came shouts from the police.
“¡Ladrones bastardos!” “¡Abajo la Corporación!” Came shouts from the protestors. Somewhere, a child wailed.

At some point during the unrest, calls were made and the desire of the police and the government coincided-- reinforcements were on their way to break up the protesters.

A line of “Vespucci” Armored Cars escorted by police cruisers navigate through the narrow and disheveled streets of San Arredondo. Eventually, there was too much tear gas to make out the outcome of the protest from above. Very few cameras captured the brutality.

Greetings!

Firstly, we wish you and your nation a prosperous New Year! We hope that this year and coming decade brings our two nations closer.

On that subject, we would be happy to hold such a convention with your nation and the members of ASEAN. Many of the companies that are based within us have also been looking for opportunities to further expand in member nations of ASEAN, as this brings many benefits to them as well. We suggest that the convention be held in three separate locations, to focus more on a specific aspect of our economy. The first convention being a technology and manufacturing-based convention. The second being an agriculture and natural resources-based one and the third one being about the service industry.

We suggest these locations and dates for the conventions to happen. The first one would be held in Shenzhen-Hong Kong, here in Pilipinas and Malaya on January, 24 to 29, the second one would be held on February 12 to 17 in Phnom Penh, and the last one to be held in Bangkok on February 28 to March 4. Would these dates be acceptable to you?

We also have an additional question, do we invite international observers to participate in these events to promote investment investment and trade deals as well?

We have discussed amongst the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Environment and Agriculture, and Natural Resources about these locations and proposals for events, and are to hold a proper meeting tomorrow about it.

All throughout Flora, citizens were filled with anticipation, as the clock slowly ticked down to the start of a new decade. They thought that it would be a time of renewal, a new start for the nation as a whole. For many years, civil unrest gripped the southern regions. Terrorist attacks by Bulgarian Separatists were not uncommon, and many felt that the government did little to keep its citizens safe. But now, with a newly elected government, and 2020 on the horizon, a feeling of hope could be felt in the towns and cities throughout Parzal. Parties were held, as was expected.

One person didn't have the luxury of being able to join in the festivities. Yasen Stasov sat at his desk, a small glass of scotch in one hand, and a cigarette in the other. Stacks of paper seemed to tower over him. He felt as if he was about to drown in paperwork. He had only been president for a short while, and already the pressure was mounting... Changes would need to be made. Changes he wasn't sure he was capable of implementing. But he wasn't about to sit down and give up already. No, he was going to fight for a better Parzal, even if it killed him.

His throat burned as he downed the last of his scotch. Groaning, he sat his glass aside and put out his cigarette, before grabbing a paper and beginning to look it over. 2020 would be a new era for Parzal, for better, or for worse...

Salutations,

First of all we thank you for your well and warm wishes for the both of our nations.

On the subject of holding three separate conventions as part of a larger one to cater to different aspects of our economies, we agree heartfully. Since there are so many fields to what makes a nation's economy, splitting it up to cater to different audiences makes perfect sense. To iterate, the first convention would be a technology and manufacturing-based convention, the second being an agriculture and natural resources-based one and the third one being about the service industry.

Regarding the dates, we would definitely be ready to hold the 2nd convention in Phnom Penh as we already have in mind the perfect avenue for it. All we need is just some preparations and the convention will be a very beneficial one to our companies. On the subject of the third one being in Bangkok, we will notify our related companies to prepare and contact Thailand administration or officials once we have gained permission from Thailand to hold the convention in Bangkok.

On the subject of international observers, we can certainly arrange to invite them as it would bring no harm and in fact bring in more foreign investments into the region, as well as trade deals just like you have mentioned. Tomorrow on the 4th of January we will also hold a proper meeting with related Indochinese ministries to coordinate the convention being held in Phnom Penh as well as the participation of our state and private companies in the other two conventions.

We will immediately contact Thailand administration regarding this matter and gain their permission to hold the 3rd convention in Bangkok as well as their participation in the conventions. Once our meeting concludes tomorrow, we suggest that both of our nations to contact other ASEAN countries to participate, or perhaps hold an ASEAN meeting/summit in the nearest of times. We will also begin the process of inviting international observers once the meeting ends.

We thank you for your consideration and we hope that the conventions will be held smoothly without any problems.

LETTER TO ASEAN MEMBER-STATES



Greeting to the most honourable leaders of the ASEAN member-states and the organisation itself.

Firstly, Happy New Year to all your countries. May this year be bountiful for you all!

Would your country agree to hosting the third event listed below in Bangkok? Please respond to the ASEAN chairman, Indochinese and Filipino and Malayan leaders.



Indochina and we are proposing a series of events and conventions to be held in order to help our collective economies, increase foreign investment, and encourage growth and expansion for companies of our own. All of the members of ASEAN are welcome to participate in this group of event. This event will be split into three parts. The first event would be for the technology and manufacturing sectors, to be held in Shenzhen-Hong Kong, Pilipinas and Malaya on the 24th of January until the 29th of the same month. The second convention about agriculture and natural resources sectors would be held in Phnom Penh, in SR Indochina on the 12th of February to the 17th. The third one concerning the service industry would be held in Bangkok on the 28th of February until 4th of March if Thailand would agree with our proposal.

We hope to see your trade delegations at these events!

Europe was quiet, right now, but Asia was very noisy. Due to all of that "Dutch meddling," they still had some ports leftover, meaning they're Asian and can still engage with Asia.

ASEAN looked interesting, maybe Holland could get some deals w/ them in, but Indochine was tricky, considering they're Communist-socialistic. The Philippines, being a Hollish ally, were a gateway into Australasia and also ASEAN itself.

Holland really didn't want Ecomonarchism, and tried hiding that skeleton-in-the-closet under the rug or carpet, though Helm Westonne was currently spewing out Ecofeminist rhetoric.

Anything could happen with her, really, but the Senate (albeit having some members picked by her) wanted very-good relations with Euramerica.

First things first, Helm Westonne had to send a communique to ASEAN, then the second being to try to maintain positive relations with Indonesia. Maybe, just maybe, Holland could finesse itself to a good position within Asia, and then use that positioning as a foothold/leapfrog into other things, like Afrobia (Africa + Arabian Penin.) and even make its own Sphere-of-Influence. Already, it had France, and was a big supporter and pretty active in Europe, but it also had Japan and ASEAN to count on, going forward.

The Hollish, like in their olden years, had to capitalize off of Asia again. The further boosting of the Dutch Economy was a must, in the Senates' eyes, though obviously hurting it if the Hollish pursued Environmentalistic traits ever again.

Portugal and other Ex-Dutch also were in its "sphere," though not really a "Sphere" since it was ex-colonies, and that one Union.

Holland also had to fix relations with the British, since they were probably still horrible, over the past dispute of Dutch Malta. As of right now, the Hollish were being very reactive, but that's just kinda how it was - you just waited for a new Newscycle and hoped for something else to happen.

In the end, Dutch Relevance had to be sustained.
