So, I was doing some research for Cadenhia, and I learned the official, legal definition of gin. It is, and I quote;

"A neutral, redistilled grain (-based alcohol), with a predominant juniper berry flavor.

That's kind of a vague description, so I looked into it even further. Turns out, there's a lot of different variations in different types of gin, including flavorings, the quality/type/amount of juniper added, and the distilling process itself.

That got me thinking; what kind of laws would Cadenhia have to maintain the "purity" and standard of its drinks? Imports probably wouldn't abide by the same laws, but what is the criteria a wine must reach in order to legally call itself a Cadenhian wine? Who establishes these laws? How are they enforced? What incentive is there for drink-makers to abide by these laws? What punishments could law-breakers face? Is there a certification process in order for someone to legally sell their beverage as a Cadenhian drink?

I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm thinking way too deeply about this...

Low-key wondering what could keep Leslen from trying to shut down the Briarhearts on a whim...maybe they also guard the caravans that go in and out of Cadenhia, and taking them out of the equation would make traders much more vulnerable? That would be a huge blow, since Cadenhia's pretty much reliant on exports and tourism...

Also, what does the general Cadenhian public think of Leslen and his plans of reform? What did they think of his father, during and after his reign?

Well, he's only been king for six weeks and is really emphasizing high culture. He's established a minimum drinking age that varies from species to species, whereas his father was dependent on SWAG by the time he was a teenager. In the King's later years, his approval declined alongside his health. Those who disapproved of him did not like how long it took him to produce an heir. They also felt his use of food and alcohol was excessive, even for a Cadenhian.
