September 11th, 2001.
A devastating attack by the Insurgent group Al-Qaeda leaves the United States shocked and stunned, and the World Trade Center in ruins. Hundred of innocent civilians and first responders were killed by the attack and the American Populace was outraged.
Later that year,
After President George W. Bush attempted to cooperate with Taliban Leader Muhammad Oman to have him turn over Al-Qaeda leaders to American authorities, and Oman had refuse, CIA agents went in to Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban regime.
Eventually, American and British military forces invaded Afghanistan, and shortly thereafter ousted Al-Qaeda and Taliban from Afghanistan and into Iraq after several years of fighting. However, the Taliban still persists in Afghanistan, fighting an asymmetrical war against American and British forces.
In 2003, the President invaded Iraq, against UN and NATO approval, believing that Iraq was posing a significant nuclear threat to the United States. After a month of conventional warfare, Iraqi Military and Para-Military forces were defeated. However, for several years, insurgent forces have been fighting against US forces.
In 2011, American forces officially withdrew from the region. However, the destabilization of the region led to the uprising of another group.
ISIS is a Islamic Fundamentalist Insurgency located in Syria and Iraq, with severely anti-american ideologies and the will to carry them out. American forces were re-deployed to the region to fight ISIS, and the war continues to this day.
Synopsis:
In the dry hell that is Iraq, Western influence has severely destabilized the region, giving rise to many insurgent groups. When one is destroyed, two more rise to take its place. Each time the forces of the world stamp down to try and restore order to Iraq. For almost 20 years they have been trying, and the dunes are soaked in the blood of Russians, Americans, Englishmen, and Muslims alike. For 20 years Islamic Fundamentalist groups have been trying to destroy Western presence for the purpose of establishing an Islamic Theocracy and freeing themselves from Infidel Tyranny. For 20 years men, women, and children have been dying, and the end is no closer in sight. While the ISIS fighters are no match for Western soldiers on the field, they more than make up for it with their geurella tactics and cockroach-like durability. Every day, soldiers have to fight for the same street they fought and died over yesterday, and the day before that. Hundreds and thousands of soldiers have taken their turn in the Sandbox, and now its your turn to fight against terrorism or to fight against oppression.
