Personality: Hoti is a generally cautious leader and refuses to order attacks when uncertain of victory. He follows his books and personal rules on strategy religiously, and never deviates from them. His past on a hive world has convinced him that the most important asset he has is people - and he generally treats his people well. The 554th despite being a more local replacement of the Imperial occupying force in the sector has taken to aligning itself more with the planets of the Nephilim sector than with the Imperial government on Terra. Hoti's hive world upbringing also formed a deep dislike of excessive luxury and the nobility in Hoti, and because of that no planet within the 554th's area of control in the Nephilim sector has much of a noble class. Any that did have long since had those classes removed.

Backstory: Hoti was formerly the leader of a gang on the hive world of Calea, and under his leadership his gang grew so large as to dominate the entire planet. This was mostly due to Hoti's use of ancient texts on strategy and governance he'd discovered in the depths of his hive. These books were able to teach Hoti how to gain power, but not how to keep it. He had to figure that out himself.

Skills and Experience/Career Summary:

Hoticus Avilion began his career in the gangs of Calea as little more than a child holding a lasgun. Fortunate enough to survive past the age of 20, he rose into prominence as a skilled soldier and leader. It was during his time leading a small group of men, boys really, fighting for one of the various warlords of the hive that Hoti taught himself how to read and write the Calean language. Partially because of his interest in writing Hoti discovered that a place his group had camped for a night once was a former library containing a few books of note - including the biography of an ancient general Hoti took great interest in.

Hoti kept the knowledge of the library secret though and as soon as he had enough men and influence to allow it assigned guards to protect the site at all times. Being one of the few people in the hive city to have the lessons of the past at his disposal proved invaluable to Hoti, and he found it almost enjoyable to bring old battles back to life in the halls of the hive city by employing tactics he had only read about. Even the nobility that called themselves the masters of the hives would find the rapidly ascending Hoticus a problem eventually. But by the time Hoti was capable of openly challenging the state backed gang called the military and police of the hive it was too late for the government to stop him. Hoti's officers had drunk from the same fountain of knowledge he had and were much more capable and disciplined than their enemies.

Hoti's conquest of the most prominent hives of Calea over the course of ten years would be interrupted by the arrival of the Imperium to Calea. Hoti was able to maintain his position in the planet's integration into the Imperium and even fought for the newly arrived Imperium in several notable conquests in the sector - earning himself a high place in the eventual government there. With the formation of the 554th and Hoti's sudden and hasty elevation from a glorified PDF commander to the military leader of a good part of the sector, Hoti was given an incredible responsibility - but also incredible opportunity. He had only taken the side of the Imperium because he had seen the way the wind had been blowing, but now he had a certain ability to control that wind.

Organization:

The most basic organization of the 554th's high command structure is the solar system, to which forces are assigned to in order to assist local PDFs who are often armed and equipped almost identically to the 554th. Commanders of solar systems generally report to subsector Commanders, who manage the logistics and deployment of forces in many star systems. These subsector commanders, of which there are 25, report to the five members of the 554th and the sector's high command. General Avilion is the last and highest layer of command above this group and is responsible for the entire area of the sector controlled by the 554th.

Campaigns Unit has participated in: The 554th has generally been assigned to the Nephilim Sector and is an agglomeration of local planetary defense forces. The 554th has experience fighting Orks and other invading xenos. They have also fought newly awakened necrons on more than one occasion, though troops with experience fighting necrons are exceedingly rare.

Doctrine: The 554th relies mostly on infantry assaults with supporting armored units and aircraft. This is mostly due to the limited presence of the Mechanicum in their sector and the subsequent lack of advanced industrial equipment.

Notable Character Backstory(ies)/Combat History/History:

The 554th was formed less as a force to push the borders of the Imperium out, and more as a force to keep the Nephilim sector in order. The high tithes demanded from the Nephilim sector made the permanent stationing of large Imperalis Auxilia detachments to its worlds needed to prevent revolt in the initial years after the Great Crusade reached them. Since then those IA detachments have been removed, but the need for them has endured. The 554th was created from the most loyal PDF regiments in their sector, and the worlds they came from were promised tithe reductions and gifts for contributing forces to the Emperor's great project.

However the 554th never left the sector to take part in the crusade and instead was made to fill the role that foreign IG units had before - of a glorified occupation force. The gifts promised by Terra also never arrived as the Emperor switched his attention to 'more important' duties. While the Imperium brought order to the worlds the 554th hails from, it also brought high tithe demands that have only gotten higher and domination by a foreign and often uncaring government.



Unit Relics:

The 554th has two pieces of significant archeotech in its possession. The first is an intact STC programmed with the schematics for infrastructure and civilian transport that the 554th has very little direct use for. The second is a badly preserved synthetic being found buried on a moon that many believe to be an ancient 'man of iron' that is currently inactive.

No legion or Primarch can command the allegiance of a Forgeworld, at best it would simply be allied, but they would not be commanded.

Two Glorianas is a no, and the bulk of the rest of your fleet is customized to the point of 'That wouldn't happen'. People are allowed some customization, but entire lines of custom ship classes is way to much.

Also, no Astartes would be anywhere close to the combat skills of a Primarch, regardless of how skilled they are.

Organization: 10,000 men split into 2 brigades, each of which are split into 10 companies. Each company hosts 10 platoons which are split into 5 squads. Each squad holds 10 men and a APC/IFV.

Doctrine: Mobile warfare
Notable Character Backstory(ies): Colonel Jackson: Has served several tours among the Calmoran Auxilia units tasked with the support of the 8th Legion in their pacification of worlds for the great crusade. During one such Crusade, members of the 8th Calmoran Infantry found themselves surrounded and outnumbered by enemy forces. Colonel Jackson, thn just a 1st lieutenant found himself in command after those above him were all killed our incapacitated. With Jackson in command the regiment forced a breakthrough, after six days of heavy fighting, and fell back behind friendly lines. 80% of the regiment were casualties of war yet any survivor would be heard to say that Jackson was the reason they had made it out. Due to his actions Jackson was promoted to colonel and taken off the frontlines, instead being placed in command of his own brand new regiment.
