Krugmar wrote:The Primarch

"It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it."

Name: Atlas Manthano
Alias: the Baleful Eye, Monomakh, Palatine of the Hundred
Appearance:
Personality: When among other Primarchs, Atlas musters his innate charisma to present himself as balanced, judicious, a friend, and mentor if needed, to all his brothers and sisters. As best he can he remains aloof from any feuds, and shirks off intended insults. This personality has not been honed out of a sense of comradery, or a particular love for his siblings, but instead from his shattered faith in the Emperor's mission. In truth he is melancholy, viewing his siblings as nothing more than tools, like himself, pieces to be moved when the time is right. But Primarchs are not so easily manoeuvred into place, and so the act must go on.
Backstory: A pod dropped from the sky onto the frigid world of Stirios, delivered by the very powers that had stolen it from Terra. The child inside was rescued by humble factory workers, cogs in a now nameless kingdom. He was raised communally in a humble setting, though in a short time he grew larger than any man, earning the name Atlas after Stirios' greatest mountain. Though he had many offers from the monarch to lead his armies, his heart lay with the people. He overthrew the monarch and established a republic, though the popularity of his reforms soon saw him established as the Princeps of this new state. Within a short time he had conquered the other numerous warring kingdoms, before submitting to the Emperor when he arrived.

That is the official story, which some have doubted. Stirios lies deep in the Ultima Segmentum, yet it is known that Atlas was one of the first Primarchs to be found. Many records about Stirios have been lost, and a few show signs of tampering. A few have conjectured that his Stirian accent is flawed, though others argue that influence from his time on Terra is the reason. Whatever the case, a few facts are known:

  • He was one of the first Primarchs to be re-united with the Emperor, though he was not the first.
  • Stirios was only united after Atlas' arrival
  • His pod was never recovered

Atlas spent some time on Terra after his reunification with the Emperor, studying new forms of warfare, the history of Terra, and the Emperor's vision for the future. What was to be the start of a grand new life became only a horror for Atlas as he discovered his eventual fate. Try as the Emperor might, not all secrets could be lost forever. Atlas discovered the true fate of the Thunder Warriors. From discussions with Malcador he was able to piece together what he considered the true visage of the Emperor. He did not hate the Emperor for what he would eventually do, and even agreed with his goal of uniting Mankind. No, he simply felt the sting of mortality, and he hated it.

From the moment he was reunited with his Legion, the 10th, he began his plotting to avert his, and his siblings', fate. Over the first few decades he shifted his legion's recruitment to a multitude of worlds, cutting recruitment from Terra down to nothing. Then he began purging the Terrans by means of attrition, using their commitment to the Emperor to 'honour' them with the most dangerous roles. With the Terrans essentially eradicated, he began attempts to subtly shift the hero worship of the Emperor to a more benign admiration, and to staunchly instil the Imperial Truth, and a hatred for the new underground zealots who worshipped the Emperor. While others view his work on creating the Palatinate as a monument to the glory of the Imperium, Atlas intends for it to merely be a base to supply his future efforts against the Emperor.

The Triumph of Ullanor: a crowning achievement for the Emperor and the other Primarchs, a time of dread for Atlas. The Emperor leaving the Crusade has merely confirmed his worst fears, that the end approaches for him and his siblings. His plans are incomplete, time is running out, and he feels cornered and alone. Allies must be found, even if it means betraying his ideals, and all that he has stood for.

War Gear: Hand of Fate - A Power Fist with an Auxiliary Meltagun built into it
Aetos - Atlas' personal power axe, scaled for use by a Primarch
Caelum - Artificer power armour designed specifically for Atlas

The Legion

"It was Men of Iron who led Mankind into the Long Night, it is fitting that Men of Steel shall help usher in a New Dawn"

Numeration: X (10th Legion)
Primogenitor: Atlas Manthano
Noteworthy Domains: The Hundred Worlds, also known as the Palatinate, of which Stirios is the capital.
Combat Doctrine: Originally a legion specialising in attrition and siege warfare, Atlas has since remoulded them to take a more balanced approach to warfare. He has sought to create a legion able to respond to any situation by utilising and mixing carefully tested stratagems and tactics. This has ironically created a mindset of inflexibility among his commanders, as they are reluctant to deviate from tried and tested plans and adapt to unfamiliar situations. Regardless, the ever-updated Verba Atlas contains several lifetimes worth of scenarios, strategies, and counter-strategies.
Appearance:
Origins and History: As with the other legions, the 10th first saw action on Terra. They were usually deployed against the most fortified of cities, and in the harshest areas on Terra. Operating silently and emotionless in dull unpainted armour, they earned the moniker 'Men of Steel, as though they were the Men of Iron upgraded and returned to haunt humanity once more. Upon taking part in the Great Crusade, they were often reserved for siege and attritional warfare, though this was soon to change.

Their reunification with Atlas was initially a period of celebration, until the Terran officers found themselves quickly sidelined by a primarch who seemingly did not trust them. No Terrans were ever chosen for his bodyguard or for the Philoi, though their numbers soon wittled away before any conspiracy could form, and those Terrans who discarded their identity for a Palatine one found themselves welcomed into the brotherhood they had been excluded from.

The Stirian dialect became a dominant barracks lingua franca, with Stirian customs and traditions soon dominating. Traditions from the numerous worlds recruited from were selectively encouraged by Atlas. The legion became a highly diverse group, bound only by their oaths of brotherhood and their devotion to their primarch.

Disaster struck the legion, which had swelled to a vast size, during the Rangadan Xenocides. They were reduced to one-tenth their size, lost much of their fleet, including their flagship, and almost lost their primarch. They were saved by the intervention of the Emperor and several other legions in what was a catastrophic war for all involved. They retreated to Stirios to heal their wounds, though they have yet still to regain their former fighting strength.

It was during this period of healing that Atlas began creating the Palatinate of the Hundred Worlds, which greatly aided in restoring the legion back to a fighting strength in good time, allowing them to return to the Great Crusade. With the Ullanor Campaign ended, and the Emperor having returned to Terra, some in the legion now wonder if the time of the Great Crusade slowly comes to a halt, and worry for their own future.

Legion Organisation and Structure: The largest unit of the legion is the Stratos, commanded by a Strategos. They are 12,000 strong, and there exist 30 of these, of which 28 are standard, and one and two half-strength are irregular. The regular, full-strength irregular (Zhataroi), and one of the half-strength irregular (Makhaira) strati are divided into 8 (irregular: 4) Taxeis, with a strength of 1500, and commanded by a Taxarch. The taxeis can be grouped into two sets of four, known as a Phalanx, commanded by a Phalangiarch. Each Taxeis is divided into six Speira, which number roughly 256, and are commanded by a Ouragos. The speira are divided into 16 Lochos, a squad of 16, commanded by a Lochagos, which on the field can be divided into two, with the second half commanded by a Deuros.

The other half-strength irregular stratos is known as the Hetaroi, and is Atlas' personal stratos, having no strategos. It is divided into 30 Ilai, numbering 200, each commanded by an Ilarch. The ilai are divided into 4 Hipparchies, commanded by a Hipparch, which are each divided into 5 Chiliarchies, each commanded by a Chiliarch. The Iliad chosen to personally accompany Atlas for a mission is referred to as the Agema.

Outside of these formal structures exist the three shields. These are the Khrusasparides (gold shields), Argyraspides (silver shields), and Chalkaspides. The latter two are awarded for reaching 75 and 25 years of service respectively, while the latter is awarded for a particularly meritorious deed, or reaching 150 years of service.

The last structure is the Philoi, divided into the Protoi Philoi (First Friends) and Timomenoi Philoi (Honoured Friends). The Protoi are Atlas' personal bodyguard, numbering 30, who usually take to battle in Cataphractii Terminator gear. The Timomenoi also number 30, but form an advisory council, and are picked personally by Atlas from any rank, with tenure for life unless dismissed. Within the Timomenoi exist an unofficial grouping known humorously as the Ekhthroi (Enemies), who are the five closest companions and advisors to Atlas.
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch
{Ekhtroi}
{Timomenoi Philoi}
Protoi Philoi
Strategos/Ilarch
{Phalangiarch}
Taxarch/Hipparch
Ouragos/Chiliarch
Lochagos/Hetaroi legionary
{Deuro}
Legionary

Specialist Formations: Zhataroi - An irregular full-strength stratos with a unique colour scheme bearing a red flaming eye for heraldry. Those in training who show a particular aptitude for ferocity are sorted into the Zhataroi, where they are instilled with an intense loyalty towards Atlas. They are often deployed as shock troops, used to break the toughest lines, and when no mercy is to be given to the enemy.
Makhaira - The Destroyers of the 10th Legion, the Makhaira are significantly larger than most other legion's destroyer corps, but rarely see action due to the ominous nature of their weaponry. Thus they spend most of their time stockpiling their hazardous gear and simulating combat for the rare occasion their talents are needed.

Legion Wargear: Nothing out of the ordinary for a legion. I may revisit this later, though if I do I'll notify about any changes for checking.
Legion Vehicles: Again little out of the ordinary, other than the use of various Legio Cybernetica automata loaned by the Mechanicum for use by specially trained Techmarines. If I do revisit this I'll notify about any changes for checking.
Legion Fleet: The flagship of the 10th Legion is the Bucephalus, the former flagship of the Emperor himself, gifted after the destruction of the former flagship the Gordian Knot. The legionary fleet is composed of 12 battle barges and 38 strike cruisers. The 30th Expeditionary Fleet, commanded by Atlas, contains three battle barges, 12 strike cruisers, and near 200 other vessels ranging from great battleships, to vulnerable transports.
Legion Relics: I'll come back to these another time, and notify if any of them deserve checking.

I will accept, if you swap the Bucephalus out for something else.

Otherwise everything else looks good and welcome to see you again Krug.

Alias: The Mute Son
Appearance: ????
Personality: Samael is an extremely quiet man, a mute for the most part, unless needing to command and talk about the campaign at hand. The blue Primarch spends a good chunk of his time on planning a never ending list of campaigns and logistics, making Samael a very competent general staffer and organizer. Samael has no need to waste time on trying to connect with his other sons and daughters, time that could be used on planning and organizing the next war-plan.
Backstory: See Legion History.
War Gear: Samael holds two unique pieces of war-gear, his two-stormbolters and his own personal shield device mounted and installed onto his own armor.

Azure Rain
Numeration: XIX (19th)
Primogenitor: Samael
Noteworthy Domains: N/A (Fleet-Based Legion)
Combat Doctrine: Armoured warfare/strategic bombing
Appearance: Blue Marines - imagine Ultramarines but without the U.
Origins and History: Azure Rain has no drama or politics involved within its history. Samael is a busy man with a long list of campaigns to do and will do them in an orderly fashion on his timetable. There is no time for wasted time in between each campaign and goal. Once a campaign is done with a certain sector, Samael will immediately hold a briefing a day later to inform his armies and navy of their next goal in mind. From there, Azure Rain and its attached Imperial fleets and units will set course towards their new sector to clear out xenos and rouge human empires. Any cleared sector or zone of space will either be given to the Imperial administration or the Admech, depending on Samael’s judgment. Rinse and repeat. The origins of the 19th Legion comes about on Earth, being the original legions formed by the Big E. The name “Azure Rain” was originally given to the 19th Legion due to its high number of assault marines and their usage of fast-speeders on Terra, Luna, and elsewhere. Once Samael was discovered upon the planet of Sewtgor, a swamp planet, he was given a quick brief of his duties and then the command of a whole legion. The Big E simply told Samael that he had the job of expanding the power base of the Imperium, and so Samael did what he was told without question. While Samael was a very late Primarch to be founded, he would be a very quick person to get to his duties.

The 19th Legion would find itself subjected to radical change as Samael retrained his whole legion to be the focus of armoured warfare, reducing assault troops to a small size and increasing the amount of tanks and APCs to move his masses of marines, along with reorganizing the command system. Once everything was said and done, Samael went about a brutal series of campaign after campaign to expand the Imperium holdings. The 19th Legion and the Imperial forces attached saw no rest in their time, moving fast to each planet and system. Samael saw no need to discover STCs or lost technology for the Imperium, simply conquering whatever he saw was vital for Humanity. Given the nature of the fleet-based legion, stemming from the Emperor's need to create a legion for fast development, Azure Rain had a boon to its campaigns as there was no need to guard or protect any holdings as all its holdings was its massive fleet and Phalanx. All this time in campaigns has not allowed Samael or Azure Rain the time to do anything but campaign. Samael’s connections to the other Primarchs is almost non-existence, with news of him being only that he has finished his current campaign and that he will immediately move towards its next campaign.

Legion Organisation and Structure: Samael organizes the 19th Legion differently from most other legions, basing his ranks and structure upon the Imperial Army. Azure Rain’s main form of independent troop organisation is the division, formed by 11,000 marines in total. This massive bulk work of a division of space marines are either tank divisions or mechanized divisions. (2 tank divisions, 1 super-heavy tank division, 4 mechanized divisions - 77,000 marines). This was made to create a force able to meet and dislodge any form of enemy and fort. There are no Great Companies or standard Companies that you’ll find in a legion. Everything is division-based with a Major General in command. For high-command, that would be the General Staff and its organ structures that carry out the logistics and oversight of division operations and likewise.
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Lord Commander
Lieutenant General
Major General
Colonel
Lieutenant Colonel
Major
Lieutenant
Staff Sergeant
Corporal

Specialist Formations:Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought, Cataphractii Pattern Terminators, Assault Legion Marines.

Legion Wargear: The standard wargear is simple. A boltgun, a knife, and various types of grenades for most marines. More specialist gear will be handed out to those who need it. Assault troops with a bolt pistol and a chainsword. Devastator squads with anti-armor weapons, heavy bolters, plasma cannons, lascannons, etc, etc.
Legion Vehicles: Baneblades, Land Raiders, Mastodons, Fellblades, Glaives, Predator Tanks, Spartan Assault Tanks, Rhino Transport.
Legion Fleet:1 Gloriana, 6 Battle Barges, 4 Emperor-Class Battleships, 4 Retribution-Class Battleships, 25 Avenger-Class Grand Cruisers, 25 Overlord-class Battlecruisers, 25 Exorcist-Class Carriers, 20 Dictator-Class Carriers, 24 strike cruisers, and 70 escort squadrons.

Oddly specific since I just looked it up on the thread and I'm the only one who mentions .60 bolters, links to the Admech, etc.

I suspect the Discord has all that info on someone's (I also assume Ralnis's) Legion, right?

Yea, yea I guess that makes more sense. I tend not to lore dump in the OOC to keep it un cluttered.

I have swapped out the Bucephalus for a normal gloriana-class ship. I had mistakenly assumed that from the lack of info about it on the fandom wiki, combined with the idea that the Emperor at the start of the campaign would have less resources at his disposal, that his first flagship was a normal gloriana-class. Hence why he'd change to the Imperator Somnium later when the Imperium was more of a reality. Looking at Lexicanum that seems not to be the case.

Just about done with the app. Do I include Mechanicus allies and the Knight House in part of the forces app?

The Primarch
Name: Creatrix
Alias: Omnissiah’s Herald, Light Child, Forgefather
Appearance:
Standing at 8’, short for a Primarch to say the least, Creatrix is impassive and unreadable to all. Vox-arrays replace whatever voice that once might have been spoken while the being never leaves the personally crafted Power Armor underneath crimson, Martian robes. The face of a Tech-Priest, green optics in the night, conceals what once might have been face, all while Mechadendrites, tipped with claws and transonic razors, festoon the body and armor. Servo-skulls constantly attend to the Primarch, many with mere optics, others with integrated bolt pistols, and the hum of electric fury is omnipresent among Creatrix.
Personality:
Quiet, emotionless, and undeniably callous, Creatrix is the engineer who simply creates wonders, the strategist who simply calculates loss-gain ratios, the tasker who expects excellence without demanding it. All beings are cogs in that great machine of the Imperium, from the lowliest Servitor to even Primarchs, and all have a duty to perform. Creatrix, at best, appreciates the skills of those about him, rarely mentioning the faults of those same, and holds little empathy for brothers, sisters, or father. Built as a weapon, Creatrix gives blessed little effort in maintaining a facade as a person or, worse, as a family member.
Backstory:
Spirited away by the machinations of Chaos to the farthest, most distant worlds within those counted, the child who would be known as Creatrix fell in that pod upon Solum. It’s people were descendents of the first travelers, had kept those traditions well. Engineers, craftsmen, and artisans, theirs was a daily war against what was referred to as the Endless Night. Solum’s orbit and rotation held that at irregular intervals the planet would be plunged into a frozen tundra, extended so far out as it was and with the rotation so slow, certain portions of the planet were placed into that abyss. Monsters of Chaos ilk would roam such lands, preying upon anything that moved, frequently what would not move, and one-another. Creatrix, as befits Chaos’s especially light humor, would be placed in the midst of this area at the start of such a period.

As a child, he lived there for seven months before the first human scouts came upon that gift. Already large enough to seem seven years old, Creatrix’s rockside home had been fortified against the horrors in the night, though the young Primarch did not emerge unscathed. Countless wounds had rendered Creatrix nearly immobile, the loss of a leg at such a young age crippling to say the least, and another arm had been splintered by the arm of a Warp beast. Taking the feverish being in, the scouts and healers were impressed by the foreigner’s ability to heal; it took blessed little time for Creatrix to awake and become sensible of all, blessed little for the other, innumerable minor wounds to heal even without treatment, yet the leg and arm refused command, refused to be healed by the ministrations of the doctors and surgeons. As a result, Creatrix would lose that arm and that leg, receiving instead a pair of cybernetics from the settlement. They were crude, as would be expected by any replacement from the spinworld colonies, yet even with such impediments the Emperor’s Child would not be dissuaded from the task. A consummate builder, Creatrix spent long hours under the direct tutelage of the engineers and workmen of the host, learning the intricate secrets of steel and circuit, learning that which can be created and designed. The Primarch spent time afield, too, aware of the direct need to build in preparation for that which would one day come. Walls and towers would be built by those hands, and moats as well, and in this Creatrix found some measure of solace.

In time, however, even Chaos’s patience for the Emperor’s arrival waned. Decades had passed and none had come, yet the Emperor’s Child had built much and learned much. The Endless Night had claimed much of Creatrix’s body, for every excursion seemed to hold a new terror to claim and destroy, every journey a question and query for more. Creatrix had become convinced that secrets could be unearthed in the wastelands where sun dared not touch, convinced that something might be gleaned there which would prove to be their final salvation. The crafter perfected what had been learned all those years before, perfected such that Creatrix then wore crude Power Armor such as might be seen in the Unification Wars which the child did not know, and in those hands the child bore rifle and blade. And yet, for all these trials and tribulations, for all the slow chiseling away at the Primarch, Chaos grew unsatisfied in it’s investment.

The harshest Night came, terrors and Warpspawn the size of buildings roaming not only those wastes but coming in vast hordes against the settlements. For a month, the skies wept blood day and night, and the red-hued icicles rained down against the settlements of Solum. Then came the Daemons, falling from the sky, and war engulfed the whole of the planet. Rallying what few the Primarch could, it was a desperate time as the planet held no scale of industry to arm the common man, the common man held no strength of will, and Solum seemed to be upon that brink. Only the strongest might survive, bolstered by salvaged technology and the psalms of the engineers who dutifully repaired their armor. Against the horde, Creatrix lead these souls, and against them many more would die. It would only be through another’s intervention that the planet as a whole would be saved, only when the Emperor’s Child was upon the brink of death that the Savior of Man stepped down from his lofty heavens. Warships filled the sky and armor-clad behemoths stepped down from landers, all led by what was only described as the most majestic being to grace all. The Emperor found his child in surgery, more than half of that body encased in crude cybernetics, face a mask of bandages and prosthetics. For the common courtesy in keeping his child alive, for the faith the population of Solum had in their leader, the Emperor of Man would take Creatrix away in the gleaming battleship before subjecting the planet to a merciless orbital bombardment by Cyclonic Torpedo. At the time, the planet was nearly fully in the grip of Chaos, holding only a few bastions of humanity, and even there human life meant so little. People had turned to the strength of iron and steel in their desperation, had turned to fierce ritual and blasphemy to find faith in something, anything. The Mechanicum would tolerate no heresy upon its watch and the Emperor would tolerate no Chaos taint to be known upon the very homeworld of one of his children. The whole of the planet would be deemed null, a Damnatio Memoriae placed against it. Such was the Emperor’s Mercy.

Taken to Mars, Creatrix was restored in the time-honored traditions of the Martian priesthood. The strength in steel and faith gave new vigor to those ruined bones and muscles, the failure of mere eyes falling to optical arrays and augury sensors with which one might view in the world a new light. Of course, additions were made to the usual aspects and the original gift given to the Forgefather would be a suit of Powered Armor integrated into that very flesh. When Creatrix awoke, it would be with some recollection of Solum as it had been prior, yet some portions of that memory had been changed. Daemons had overrun the planet in whole, killing all the Primarch once knew as friend. And yet, despite this all, it would be forbidden for the Primarch to leave. The Tech-Priests had give such gifts to the Emperor’s Child not out of their benevolence but as merely another trade; they wished for at least one Primarch to represent their interests at the highest levels, even higher than the Fabricator-General, and so Creatrix would be inducted into that same priesthood. The child learned of the Machine Spirit, of the Omnissiah itself and of the favored champions of that Machine God, learned of the proper ways of build and construct. In time, such learnings would even harken back to the little rituals given upon Solum, though of this Creatrix would never speak. Such things were better left in the shadows. Following two years upon Mars, Creatrix was instructed to accompany a Magos Dominus and the Skitarii Legions which he led, and such the Primarch did for some time. It was expected that the Primarchs would lead humanity’s finest forces into battle and, in this, the priesthood intended for their pupil to bring no dishonor to Mars itself. The Omnissiah would tolerate no such failure. Creatrix was instilled with the competence of such a commander, of the unyielding expectation for troops to perform as they should and in no other way, of the expectation for troops to perform for the entirety of a campaign. In just four months time, they had put two systems under the Omnissiah’s heel and the Magos was satisfied in the skills and abilities of the Primarch he could call son. Creatrix would, finally, be introduced to the Legion which was named birthright.

Creatrix found the XX Legion a brutal lot, murderous in their furious intent. They were lovers of the close combat, of the bloodied armor, taking after their Thunder Warrior heritage with a pride yet unseen. They found their mechanical master to be unlikely, the Chapter Master himself challenging the right of the Emperor’s Child to command men when one could not even tell if Creatrix was human anymore. As could be expected, the priest queried if they would submit to command in emotionless vox-tones. A perhaps would be given, perhaps if it could be proven the ability to lead and fight was shown. And so, Creatrix challenged that same Chapter Master to combat, blade against blade, and killed the rebellious man for his insolence. The changes to the XX Legion was disconcerting to say the least, rapidly changing from masters of the close quarters to the finest riflemen, to architects and siege-engineers without peer. Those who could not pass the training given were given to other Legions, stripped of their old honors to earn new honors alongside their new battle-brothers, as Creatrix believed that everything which had come before lacked honor, had been performed in vainglory, and deserved to be forgotten. The ranks of the XX Legion culled of the incapable, it committed to the Great Crusade alongside the others.
War Gear:
    Fremitus, Omnissian Power Axe
    Susurro, Power Knife
Measuring just a foot in length, this slender blade betrays it’s true power by the crackle and snap in the air when activated. What would normally be a hazy blue field about the blade is instead a maelstrom of crackling, potent energy, easily able to rend the strongest armor, and such is it’s strength that for those unarmored it may even reach out some few feet with bolts of searing energy. The scabbard itself is reinforced to, if some unforeseen strife might afflict the blade and give it reason to activate when sheathed, contain the knife. Always kept hidden in the robes of Creatrix, this blade is a small guarantee of safety even amongst the most guarded of the Imperium.
    Transuranic Arquebus
The Primarch’s chief weapon, the Arquebus gives the ease and capability to remove troublesome, larger foes from the battlefield with singular shots. It remains unmodified, as the power of such rifles is uncontested and needs no magnification.
    Querella, Flechette Blaster
Modified under the blessings of the Mechanicum, this weapon fires at an unusually high rate even among others of its ilk, as well as firing a unique payload. What would otherwise be simple steel darts are instead depleted transuranium, giving the pistol the capability to shred even lightly armored enemies at close quarters. The magazine is, as a result of this, likewise enlarged to accomodate a double drum and the frame reinforced to account for weight and the stress of firing.
    Power Armor
Lighter than most any other suits of Powered Armor, this piece of masterwork crafted adamantium lacks the oversized pauldrons of its compatriots in exchange for a greater breadth of motion. Such is the case that most who are unaware would think of Creatrix as unarmored, save for possibly a Conversion Field, but this is plainly untrue. This armor extends to cover the wearers head as well, with a helmet integrated into the facial optics of a traditional Martian priest. Highly advanced augur systems enable environmental and battlefield readings at a continuous, instant rate, giving every round fired or las-shot loosed its own trajectory and origin in such readings, and such information is thereby automatically downloaded to other nearby units, of which is then distributed further. Vox systems give the Primarch full control over the Legion and its accompanying troops. Instead of the usual Conversion Field, Creatrix is protected by a powerful Repulsor Grid integrated directly into the armor.

The Legion
Numeration: XX Legion, Void Tyrants
Primogenitor: Creatrix
Noteworthy Domains: Fleet-BasedCombat Doctrine:
Rarely employed as whole units, the Void Tyrants instead hold a preference towards inserting into combat alongside other Space Marines, Skitarii Legions, or Imperial Army. In this, they are able to gain the upper hand through surprise, acting as snipers, advance scouts, and demolitionists. With Galvanic Rifles and Transuranic Arquebuses, they engage at preferably long distances, penetrating enemy armor and infantry with ease. When acting as whole units, they operate more akin to a group of skirmishers on the hunt than Legionaries on the charge. Harassing actions, elimination of enemy command structures, and denial of favorable maneuver through demolition actions on key points of movement are all hallmarks of the Void Tyrants. When attacking the enemy the Legion engages at a measured pace, much in the vein of the Skitarii, applying a constant pressure.

The XX Legion takes special care to prioritize exceptionally valuable infrastructure, manufactorums, and power generation facilities, protecting these to ensure that a combat does not completely go to waste or a defended planet require complete restoration. Their protectiveness extends to a minor degree to the actual population of a planet, though no hesitation is given whether to save a Mechanicus enclave or a group of hivers. Most civil authority holds the understanding that placing their citizenry among or within such pieces of infrastructure will save them, an act which the Void Tyrants prefer to the alternative. When on the defensive the XX Legion will place forces both in direct fortification at the guarded site as well as farther in the rear lines as snipers and to provide counter battery fire.
Appearance:
Armored in midnight black with minor white trim, the heraldry of the Void Tyrants is not immediately notable. They do not practice the method of Service Studs, instead simply keeping record of the achievements of the Legionaries and relying on the personal understanding between Legionaries to know precisely how long a Legionary has been in service. The armor of most XX Legion is notable for having a higher degree of modification for the integration of augur systems than many other Legions, as well as the vast majority of Legionaries employing servo-skulls for spotter duties. It should be noted that most Legionaries of the XX keep some form of religious iconography in regards to the Omnissiah, though most of these are simple, small cogs upon a chain. Underneath the armor the Legionary is commonly bald or with close cut hair, lacking such things as tattoos or piercings, and are usually augmented in some form.
Origins and History:
The Void Tyrants were originally intended as close combat experts aboard Imperial warships, boarders who could get the jump on an enemy warship and breach the bridge before anyone knew better. They were organized much in the same vein as Thunder Warriors, trained in similarly brutal tactics, though the first action of such warriors was to aid in the eradication of their forebears. The XX Legion did so gleefully and with much satisfaction; they had become the usurpers, the Emperor’s beloved, and in this they basked. They took on their role as the violent ones astride the furies of war, as lords of the blade and blood, and in this did the Void Tyrants revel. They loved it and it loved them. The XX Legion would, over the years, accrue a ruthless reputation, one of a headstrong belief in the potential for defeat. They were an expansive Legion, one which eclipsed enough of the others, and they were a strong Legion.

    Then the Forgefather came.

Creatrix disapproved of their wanton bloodshed, the violence, the lack of sophistication. The priest desired a refined force, knew what a refined force required, and found in the XX Legion only barbarians. The disapproval was palpable and the Chapter Master at the time, one Isidorus, did not think that the metal man should control flesh and blood. He spoke of it openly, so convinced was Isidorus that he was in the right and that the Emperor’s blessing fell upon those who embraced their Humanity, not tried to replace it. He spoke of their lineage, of the blood that had been spilt in Man’s name, and was angry that an outsider would come to the Legion to change it, not having lived through the countless dead. Creatrix thought the Chapter Master was drived by pride, by arrogance, by lust for self-worth, and in this the Forgefather saw one unworthy of the title he bore so proudly. Declared to a duel to decide the direction of the Legion, the Chapter Master accepted willingly. The combat lasted fifty-three minutes and, of those few blessed to watch, was said to be among the finest duels to be fought. In the end, however, Chapter Master Isidorus died and Creatrix earned the bloody right to reshape the XX Legion into a new image.

Over the course of a year, the Void Tyrants experienced a purge no other Legion has seen. They were instructed in the arts of the long range, of demolition and design, intended to be avatars of the Omnissiah's will. Held to the standards of a Skitarii's digital aim, a Tech-Priest's skill, and the fervor of a Magos, not all would emerge from the purges as a Legionary of the XX. A great many would be in a way exiled, pushed out to other Legions for their failure to conform to the indoctrination which Creatrix administered. Such Legionaries were stripped of rank and honors, as their Primarch said such things had been done vaingloriously and without honor. Suchs actions as to benefit the self befit a Rogue Trader, not an Astartes. Those who remained, however, were comparatively elite. They knew blade and rifle, knew how to soothe a raging machine spirit or enflame another, and held the glories of siegeworks in their minds. Creatrix was satisfied in their capabilities, armed as they were with scatterings of Galvanic Rifle intermixed with common Bolter, trained as they were both as Astartes and as the Priesthood desired, and thus did the XX Legion join that Great Crusade.

The Void Tyrants were that well oiled machine which Creatrix desired. Victories innumerable were won under the blessed cog of the Machine God, from the vast fields of Pythus to the blasted hellscape of Julian Astorphin. They fought the greenskin tooth and nail upon Imindar, one moon of the Ultima Segmentum which paid host to a crashed Kroozer, and the greenskin would soon grow wary of the black armored foe. From across the battlefield, Transuranic Arquebuses turned Warbosses into jelly with their power, the very armor about the Ork ensuring that ample shockwave, while Deff Dreads and Killa Kans fell like chaff in the wind. Before the Legion came Skitarii in vast waves, mercilessly cutting down Grots with ease and ensuring ample distraction. There, the Ork found no safe harbor to spread it's xenos filth. Engagements with Ork fleets by the Void Tyrants would prove similarly deadly, though for other reasons. Forever keeping out of range, Ork vessels either chased until dead in the water or attempted to run and were blasted into scrap. The size of such vessels only indicated how long it might take for their eventual annihilation.

More notable have been the excursions against several wayward fragments of humanity and some newfound xenos races, classified and studied by some few Magos Biologis, to which the XX Legion holds sole responsibility for the destruction of. From the Olatin Empire, a despotic realm of humanity led astray by the false promises of void-whispers, to the Helgamir, traders of no morality who attempted the seizure of Imperial colonies, the Void Tyrants proved mercilessly calculating in their administrations of justice. Few foes could hope to match the marksmanship of the Legion, though the enemies who did would unerringly receive special packages in the form of counter battery fire.

Over the years of the Great Crusade, however, the XX Legion has kept true to its roots and intentions. They were the rebuilders of conquered lands and on every planet they landed the twin graces of a fortress and a shrine to the Machine God. Of course, when given time for a prolonged stay the Legion would build factorums, dams, energy production sites for simpler technological regions when a reactor was deemed infeasible for sustained performance. Wind farms turned into the breeze, solar panels raised their eyes to the sky. They built, trying to leave each planet better, and in time the Void Tyrants themselves turned to the Omnissiah as a whole. Over the decades, the sight of a Tech-Priest had been a daily occurrence wherever they might work and, by virtue of such actions and by their training, the Legion was afflicted with that cogwheel faith. They have remained so faithful.

    Specialist Formations:
      Tortoribus
Armed with either Galvanic Rifles or Transuranic Arquebuses, these are the finest marksmen the Void Tyrants can offer. Equipped with camo cloaks, they maneuver about the battlefield unfettered by the usual bureaucracy of attached soldiers. The first to jump into ground combat, a Totoribus is capable of operating alone to accomplish his goals, in squads, or in conjunction with other Legions. They are capable scouts, adhering deeply to the tenants Creatrix has instilled in them. These soldiers are recruited from both the common populace of Legionaries, as common as one might find, and those born of the Mechanicum’s civil population. Rarely an Imperial citizen not of the Cult Mechanicus
      Conquestus
Those rare among the ranks of the Void Tyrants who exhibit the Psyker’s gift are not denied that birthright; trained firstly as a Legionary, implacable and commanding of war, then as a Librarian, a weaver of the Warp-storms wherever their tempestuous winds fly, they are then sent to the Cult Mechanicus to be trained as a priest of that most holy of orders. They recite hymns in Binary, sing the greatest songs of the digital ages, and into battle the Conquestus strides unchallenged. Their hymns, empowered by the faith of the Machine God and the spirits beyond count, bless those vehicles about and curse the enemy’s; for a foe to hold such technology intact is a rare thing indeed. Equipped with Cataphractii Pattern Tactical Dreadnought Armour, such vestments have been modified to suit a servant of the Machine God better. With a helm resembling a Tech-Priest, green lenses and augur arrays in sight, the priest holds a greater view of the battlefield before him. Mechadendrites line the back of a priest like a grisly cloak, most of them equipped with fine manipulators while others sport transonic razors, and a Servo-Harness enables the twin Servo-arms to reload his cannon. Most Conquestus prefer to arm themselves with a heavy bolter or assault cannon while some few others take comfort in the use of Eradication Rays. Digi weapons set into the gauntlets give each of these holy servants yet another repertoire of death, commonly being of close quarters weaponry in order to surprise a foe. The Conquestus deploy situationally into battle in squads of ten, lead by a senior Conquestus, and are only under the command of the most senior officer. Otherwise, these squadrons take and receive advice.

The Dreadnoughts of the XX Legion, these giants bridge the final gap between man and machine. Blessed by the holy Omnissiah, they wreathe with a Mechadendrite Hive’s fureous energies. Armed with Eradication Ray and Volkite Culverins, their eyes are aided by Omnispex systems to pinpoint the precise location an enemy will maneuver for. Such units are clad in thick adamantine shells, protected by multi-layered Conversion Fields designed to resist anti-vehicle weapons. They are deployed singularly, as the Fulgur exist in far lesser numbers than any other Legion.
Legion Wargear:
    Armaments
The XX Legion employs a variety of weapons systems which are standardized throughout the Legions. From the common Bolter to Plasma Guns and Gamma Pistols, they span all. It should be noted that the XX Legion possesses a higher stock of plasma, volkite, and radium than most other Legions, in part due to the close ties they hold to the Mechanicum, in part due to their eagerness to scavenge and repair. Melta and Flamer weaponry is less common than most others as such tools are inherently short ranged, though they aee still in service due to potential emergencies. Insofar as heavy weapons, they employ them sparsely but to great effect. Landing a laden soldier is after all harder and more costly than not, but the gains from such heavy weaponry has been shown to be worth it. Below are those weapons which are unique to the Void Tyrants.

      Cael Pattern Bolter
Manufactured aboard the Filii Vetustissima herself, this standardized weapon fires .60 caliber shells in exchange for a truly exceptional fire rate. As such, it is fed by a heavy drum magazine for 50 rounds total. It is capable of firing in single shot, three round bursts, or fully automatically. The range of the bolter is comparable to most other contemporaries, in part due to a built in cogitator for the use of trajectory calculations which are then fed directly to the Marine using that weapon. As such, it requires a plug, often located on the Marine’s gauntlet. The accuracy of the weapon is likewise comparable to most others in singular shot, though this rapidly degrades as one fires automatically.
      Almerae Pattern Heavy Bolter
Smaller and lighter than most other Legion Heavy Bolters, this pattern holds origin with some other Mechanicum weapons of Mars herself. Firing a .60 caliber bolt shell at twice the speed, the whole of the system cuts down recoil via a floating barrel and heavy pneumatics. The weight of the Almerae Pattern is such that an Astartes can carry it as a rifle, though accuracy greatly diminishes. As standard it is equipped with a bipod, though tripods have been in use since its inception, and some few prefer to instead fit the weapon with all manner of stabilizers, anti-grav plates, and other marvels into order to push the weapon into the rapid assault role. Due to the floating barrel design this Heavy Bolter is less accurate with sustained bursts than comparable Patterns. Due to this, few Legionaries fit their weapons with better optics or trajectory cogitators. The weapon is fed via a flat drum magazine, 80 shells, on top of the weapon.
      Galvanic Rifle
Originally employed in the hands of the Skitarii, these weapons have found their way into Legion hands purely for the exceptionally close ties to the Mechanicum. Modeled after the ancient rifles of Mars, they fire miniature, servitor-guided slugs into a foe at the longest range. None give their weapon decoration about its wooden stock and ancient design as they are taught that the rifle will very likely survive them, though the administrations of the Martian priesthood has ensured other factors for this unwillingness are at play. They do however take some effort in the application of high powered optics in order to better wield the rifle. Commonly employed for the elimination of officers and upper level NCOs, their crack is perhaps the only sign they have been targeted.
      Transuranic Arquebus
Acquired in the same manner as the Galvanic Rifles which the Legion employs, the role of these fierce weapons is somewhat different. While Galvanic Rifles strike the thr officer, the vox operator, or even the sergeant, the Transuranic Arquebus instead tears through vehicles and heavy infantry like a knife through butter. Impacted with relatively minor effect, the round zips through the vehicle and causes a shockwave of air via sheer speed. Through this, even the cruelest warlord in the heaviest plate turns to jelly. It has also found its way into the tankbuster role as the weapon is easily handled among the troops compared to the bulkier missile launchers, holds superior range to those weapons, and is vastly more accurate.
    Armor
Armored much like most other Legions with adequate stocks of the Mark II and Mark III Power Armor, the differences between them are found more so in the details and the few suits modified for specialist purposes. As can be expected, Void Tyrants keep especially good care of their armor due to a trio of factors. They hold strong ties to the Mechanicum, thereby receiving ample spare parts and material to repair damaged suits. They are a smaller Legion, not requiring vast numbers of armor, a d so more time may be spent on each individual suit. They hold a common proliferation of the knowledge and skills required to repair such armor. As a result, it is with some measure of pride that these suits are kept in good operational conditions. XX Legion armor is commonly augmented by augur arrays for tactical awareness, with such methods being nearly ubiquitous among NCOs.
Legion Vehicles:
The XX Legion makes use of a large, heavy core of aerial combatants and transports in order to deploy and support its terrestrial forces, along with a minor cadre of transports, tanks, artillery, and such of that nature. Overall the reasoning for this different power base is due to the fleet based nature of the Legion as a whole. It is far easier to deploy forces which refuel upon your carriers than it is to set up logistical chains, supply depots, and other detailing. Furthermore, the natural speed superiority of aerial transport makes it an attractive method. Thunderhawks and variants of such ferry the main troops down to a surface, though drop pods may be deployed prior to the expedition to destroy key enemy points such as communications centers, towers, and sensor stations.
Legion Fleet:
    Unique
      1x Fortress-Monastery
        Filii Vetustissima
Measuring at a total of 39 kilometers length and 36 kilometers width, this warship is as much an Ark Mechanicus as ever a battleship. While her main battery is centered about an array of Bombardment Cannons and Lathe Pattern Grav-culverins set in turrets and large, heavily armored casements about the circumference of the vessel, the main strength of the vessel's armament comes from her heavy missile batteries. Such weapons, with their varied payloads and ability to approach a target at long range undetected, are prized for both lethality and accuracy. The warship is, however, equipped with two graviton beam weapons as have been seen upon the Ark Mechanicus Speranza, enabling her to destroy the most fortified of enemies. Heavy gravitational generators about the vessel enable the massive warship to counteract usual physics, pushing objects away from the warship and causing otherwise rapid maneuvers to become sluggish. While this is in use, however, the flagship cannot move as rapid as well. Unknown to nearly all, however, the Filii Vetustissima holds a singular, central Machine Spirit, a being which Creatrix has conversed with in real, intelligent conversation. Like all vessels of the XX Legion, it is crewed by Legionaries and those of the Cult Mechanicus only.
    Battleships
      2x Fusilis-class Battleship
        Fusilis, Felix
Constructed by the Ring of Iron specifically for the XX Legion, these warships measure seven kilometers long and are armed to the teeth with a variety of advanced weaponry. The silhouette of such warships is crowded and cluttered, all while being low. The aft superstructure easily blends into the deck clutter while auspex arrays are held high on their tri-beam masts. The forward portion of the vessel presents the usual image of an armored prow, as many Imperial warships, though this merely conceals a superheavy augur array for the detection of the most elusive prey. With expansive engine systems designed to outrun any enemy able to engage and catch any who can’t, they save weight to contribute to this favorable thrust-to-mass ratio in every way. Highly efficient Mechanicus shielding, derived in part from Ark Mechanicus vessels, gives them a strong bulwark while a streamlined main battery of Lathe Pattern Grav-culverins and lances, mounted in centerline turrets, gives a punch. Along the sides of the vessels, tucked between armor plating, are the hangars, enabling them to ferry troops into the harshest of environments. These vessels have been equipped similarly to the Dictator-class vessels in regards to flak batteries.
    Cruisers
      3x Dictator-class Cruiser
Sol Filius Dei, Tyrannus Inanis, Sine Culpa
Armed with batteries of the Hecutor Pattern Plasma Macrocannon and substantially upgraded engines, these warships utilize auspex probes in an unusual manner as decoys for enemy scanners. Their ability to move in and out of contested areas, sustaining minor damage due to their multi-layered shielding design, has seen the warships operated in an especially aggressive manner. Due to this, they also are modified with flak batteries to ensure enemy ordinance does not destroy the cruiser. These vessels are capable of minelaying.
    Destroyers
      5x Nova-class Frigate
Domus Luporum, Odio Noctem, Dux Super, Sol Mucronibus, Perfusorius Incus
Modified with the characteristic engine systems of the Void Tyrants, the lance armament of these frigates has likewise been modified by the Mechanicus to deliver far more punishing blows than any usual Nova-class. The weapons batteries are of a smaller variant of the Hecutor Pattern Plasma Macrocannon, giving a heavy punch. In order to facilitate their role as a purebred warship, these frigates are equipped with expansive auspex arrays to enable long-range targeting, as well as the potential for third party targeting deployments. The lower hull has a series of single shot missile tubes, mounted in conjunction with servitor-guided missiles. These vessels are capable of minelaying.
Legion Relics:
    Statue of Praimis
A twelve foot tall statue of a metal man with an impassive face, this relic defies much of known law. With every moment, proportions subtly, gradually shift as hands grow impossibly long nails, hands, arms, as joints disappear or gradually move up or down an appendage until the elbow stands at the wrist or shoulder, as the neck hunches and straightens. The metal itself is likewise illegal by natural law, cold to the touch and strangely only growing colder as it is heated. When found in a lake of lava, the statue was five degrees Kelvin. No life has yet been detected of the statue, nor machine spirit, though some do claim of both. What is furthermore strange is that the statue of a man was found on a planet never touched by man before.
    Forms of He
A series of nine cogs, ever-shifting in their number of teeth and size, to intermesh two of these cogs causes the power of the Machine God to resonate for several dozen square miles. As they stay in place, whir and move silently to be powered by some unbidden machine, all of nature’s mechanical laws must be obeyed. All shall die in their time, unfettered by dilation technologies, the Warp shall touch not a singular soul, and none may pierce its veil. When more cogs intermesh, the range of such an effect is multiplied. It is said, though not tested, that to intermesh all nine cogs is to undo the Warp transit of warships.

Antimersia wrote:The Primarch
Name: Adalon Cyprus
Alias: The Reaper
Appearance: Standing at nine and a half feet tall, Adalon is a large and burly man. His shoulders are wide, his chest is barrel shaped, and his arms are powerfully thick. He has a shaved head and a bushy brown beard. His hands and rough and covered in callouses. His eyes are a deep blue and full of hope.

Personality: Adalon is a kind and warm man. He is one to invite anyone to the dinner table with him. But he is fiercely protective of the things that matter to him the most. He prefers to avoid conflict, having a mindset of never starting a fight but always being prepared to finish one. His time tending to cattle have given him a soft spot for non humans. He is willing to kill any xeno on sight, provided they are a threat. But innocent alien creatures, he would prefer to do no harm to.

This is him on the outside. On the inside Adalon is Calculating. Machinations run deep within him and those who are loyal to him. He never takes a step that he hasn't planned out hours in advance. Things rarely surprise him, and fewer things illicit a reaction when they do manage to catch him off guard. He has a plan for every occasion, and an occasion for every play. as such he has a deep distrust of all psykers and their abilities.

Backstory: Raised on an agriworld, Adalon spent his formative years tilling and harvesting fields, tending to cattle, and being raised by a very loving couple. He out lived them by a decade before The emperor ever found him. Adalon never did anything flashy or noteworthy to draw in the Emperor's attention to him. Thus he was one of the last primarchs to be rediscovered. When the Emperor told him of his nature as a primarch and reunited him with his legion, Adalon was dismissive. It was one of the few times something had happened to Adalon that he wholly could not predict. It took him months to make his decision. He did not want to leave his home. He didn't want to leave the only life he had ever known. But Adalon's adoptive parents raised him to believe in the value of duty. So Adalon took leadership of his legion, and answered the Emperor's call.

War Gear:

Father's Scythe - A large and immeasurably sharp wheat scythe. The blade is a metal of unique composition, the make up of which was known only to Adalon's adoptive father. The blade is so sharp that it can cut through ceramite like butter. The handle was once made with a wood from his home world, but Adalon has since replaced it with a titanium staff, painted yellow and black to match his legions colors.

Cattle Prod - an electrified power maul. Built with a pressure sensor on the top of the maul. When depressed the maul discharges a large burst of electrical energy for a medium distance in all directions.

Rubber insulated power armor - Rubber lining and insulation within Adalon's power armor to not be affected by his power maul's discharge.

Dispatcher - Custom made belt fed heavy bolter with an ammo pack attached to Adalon's armor.

The Legion
Numeration: XV (15th)
Primogenitor: Adalon
Combat Doctrine: Quick, precise, and decisive strikes. Preferring to harm none that need not be harmed.
Appearance: Forces where a deep golden yellow, with black trim on their armor. Specialist formations often have unique color palettes.

Origins and History:

The fifteenth legion is one often used in defensive assignments rather than offensive ones. Their strong and unbending nature making them an idea legion to call upon when Orks or some other race of Xenos threatens planets under the Imperium. And it is a task they have performed well since the first founding.

When Adalon was discovered The legion did not come under the command of their primarch for years. Between his reluctance to accept the duty as a primarch, and the legion completing their missions, defending multiple planets throughout the galaxy, their reunion was delayed for years.

When Adalon and the fifteenth legion finally did come together, Adalon accepted his legion as his family. Vowing to treat them all with the care and respect his adopted parents raised him with.

Legion Organisation and Structure: The legion is organized into five massive chapters of 15000 Astartes and Human marines, each separated into 15 batallions of 1000 marines each, and further segmented into marine companies of roughly 200 marines. As well as three stand alone specialist formations.

Chapter Commanders
Commanders are the highest ranking soldiers in the 20th legion. A Captain is only able to ascend to the rank of Commander after displaying a deep and wide breadth of knowledge in many subjects. Adalon values knowledge, and as such only the most intelligent Captains are ever even given the chance to test for the position. It is a test that requires the Marine to engage in an active fire fight, alone, against a company of Astartes while answering five thousand questions randomly selected by the Primarch. Should the marine get a single question wrong, or be defeated by the company, the marine is stripped of their Captain rank and demoted back to the rank of Marine.

Battalion Captain
Each Chapter of 15000 marines is organized into 15 Battalions, led by a Battalion Captain.

Sergeants rise to the rank of Captain much more easily that a Captain can rise to Commander. The role is gained simply through seniority of the position. Whomever has been a sergeant in the Battalion the longest is given the honor of being promoted to Captain, provided the Commander of the Chapter the Battalion is in does not object.

Company Sergeants
Sergeants are promoted from the rank of marine by their Battalion Captains for distinguished acts of honor, valor, and ability. Sergeants over see a company of roughly 200 marines, doling out more precise orders in the heat of battle to those fighting beside them.

Legion Command Hierarchy:

Primarch
Chapter Commander
Battalion Captain
Company Sergeant
Marine

Specialist Formations:

The Tillers
A powerful formation of marines in terminator armor. They are out fitted with the best weaponry the legion has to offer. Their role is to strike early on in battle, creating weak spots and openings for the rest of the legion to exploit. They attack full on dealing as much damage as they can until they are forced to retreat.

The Harvesters
Marines specially assigned to collect valuables, artifacts and any other useful items and materials from battle grounds. Adalon believe that waste is a contemptuous thing. He takes pride in collecting things from the battlefields. As such the Harvesters are not a group that is well armed. A simple bolter in hand and a sack in the other.

The Dust Giants
Adalon's personal guard. Outfitted in mostly black with light yellow fringe, power armor. These marines, trained by Adalon himself, wield power mauls and heavy flamers in defense of their primarch.

Legion Wargear:
Most Marines are outfitted with power gloves, Bolt pistols, plasma grenades and grenade launchers

Legion Vehicles:
Rhinos, Predator Destructors, drop pods, rams.

Legion Fleet:
Flagship - The Oasys, A 22km long Gloriana class battleship. Mounted on the sides of the vessel are 4 dozen plasma lances, 20 torpedo tubes, numerous flak turrets, 30 missile tubes, and a belt of macro cannons. There are 12 front facing torpdeo tubes as well as two forward facing plasma lances. Turreted Macro Cannons run along the Dorsal spine of the ship. There are 4 Gravitron Pulsars as well as 60 Bombardment cannons undeslung. And an array of void shields.
5 Hunter destroyers, fitted with plasma torpedo tubes, each Captained by a Chapter Commander, and equipped with Ion shields arrays.
50 Vanguard Mk.III Strike Cruisers fitted with Bombardment cannons, and macro cannons. Each with a void shield generator.
5 Battlebarges one for each chapter, with void shield arrays.

Legion Relics:

"Father's scythe" - as a proprietary metal of extreme strength, many would love to get their hands on the weapon to discover its composition. But as Adalon's adoptive father was the only one that new the recipe, and he has since passed, Adalon refuses to allow any harm to come to the blade. It is a treasure most special to him.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Juno Dominus
Alias: Spartacus, The Slave King
Appearance: Juno Stands at 9’5 and wears a set of red and white armor. He has short brown hair, his irises are a lighter red, while his pupils are black.
Image

Personality: Kind, Talkative, and charismatic, Juno is known for being a beacon of light in even the darkest of times. He will try his best to make his fellow primarchs happy in their times of sorrow and grief, and will always try his best to make his brother Creatrix laugh. Juno’s days not in the battlefield consist of checking up on the men of his legion, or preparing for the next battle.

Backstory: Like his fellow primarchs Juno, the 18th Primarch, was sent far away from his father and Terra by the Gods of Chaos. Unlucky to young Juno, he would land onto a planet that would not treat him as a child, but as property. The world he had landed upon was named Victoria, a beautiful feudal world full of lush forests and large plains, and a wide array of wildlife, But this world had one major problem. Victoria was ruled by a Warlord who was known as Emperor Dominic, Upon landing on Victoria Juno was found in the garden of Dominic’s Palace. The Guards took the child to Dominic, who angered at the fact his garden was destroyed by Juno’s capsule, decided to enslave the child and make his whole life's purpose the replanting and building of the Imperial Garden. At the age of 14, Juno had finished his task on his own despite the fact that it took the Empire 85 years to build the original garden, Dominic, who had grown spiteful of his slave for his strength and work ethic, sent him to die in the Gladiator Pit of the capital.

The Pit would teach Juno the harshness of battle, since he was used to being a palace slave. On his first day he was sent against the champion of the Pit, A large man known only as the Barbarian, The fight started between the two men, At first it seemed like the Barbarian had just claimed another victim but, in a fit of fear and anger, Juno grabbed the man and slammed him to the ground break the former champion’s spine and ending his life. That night Juno looked at his hands like they were not his, but those of a monster’s, After three more years of fighting, Juno had gained the moniker “The Slave King”. Dominic hated the fact that the boy who ruined his garden and that he had sent to his death in the Pit,still lived and was even being called a king drove the once proud Emperor of Victoria to plan the execution of Juno. Some of the noblemen of Victoria, who were expected to help with the planning of Juno’s death, went and warned him of Dominic’s plans. On the day his death was meant to happen, Juno was summoned to Dominic’s palace to give a private show in front of Dominic and some other nobles of Victoria. While fighting a few warriors that one of the nobles had brought for him to fight, he noticed the large number of Imperial legionnaires entering the area where he was fighting his opponent, and in a moment's notice he stopped fighting the other gladiator and attacked the legionnaires. Shocked at this, the men that were just fighting Juno came to his side to fight the legionnaires, after an hour long battle most of his enemies lied dead or wounded, the other freed gladiators planned on killing the injured enemies, Juno has a different idea and asked those who were left “ Join me or leave to face me on a different battlefield”. Many of the legionnaires that hadn’t been killed accepted the offer and joined Juno’s growing army. On their way to leave the Imperial Palace, Juno split off from his men to track down the slave holding cells, when he found the cells he let the slaves go but one of the slaves looked to healthy to be in the cells, he grabbed this imposter slave by the collar lifting him in the air, It was the once great Dominic. Dominic tried bargaining with the giant for his freedom, but Juno lifted his blade and said “I am no corrupt official, I am Spartacus, The Slave King” right before ending the Emperor’s life.

After a long guerilla war against the remainder of the Empire’s forces that lasted ten years, Juno had defeated the once large slaver empire and had formed his own empire from the ashes, Juno issued reforms including the banning of slavery . One day while patrolling a prominent trade route, Juno walked into one of the few refugee camps around Victoria, he was giving out rations and helping the refugees then he noticed a particular figure. This figure was about his height only slightly taller and wearing a robe, the man walked up to Juno and extended a hand, upon seeing the man put his hand out Juno shacked the man’s hand and told him to follow him. The man walked alongside Juno for a good while talking about Victoria and the problems that still need solved, after a few hours of talking, joking, and getting to know each other, the man stood up and took off the robe showing his glorious golden armor and his long brown hair. The man declared himself as the Emperor of Mankind, and the father of Juno. Upon the decree, Juno pulled out his blade and told his father “I’ll fight alongside you father and free the oppressed from their wicked overlords and return them to the great Imperium”. Since that day Juno the Slave King has fought to better the lives of humanity across the galaxy, alongside his sons the 18th Legion also known as the Liberators.

War Gear: Juno has his old gladiator gladius on his side and an eagle clawed gauntlet, he also carries a bolter incase he needs needs to fight from afar

Tyrant Killer: Juno’s gladius has the word Liberation forged on it, and the blade is able to cleave through marine power armor and has saved his life more than he can count.

The People’s Claw: A gauntlet forged by the slaves freed from one of the many raids on slaver camps, it’s known for being able to pierce even the toughest of armors.

The Legion
Numeration: XVII Legion, The Liberators
Primogenitor: Juno Dominus/ Spartacus
Noteworthy Domains: Victoria, It’s moon Luna, and a few systems near it.
Combat Doctrine: Guerilla Warfare, Defensive measures, and sabotage.
Appearance:

Origins and History: The 18th Legion before finding its primarch was known for its pyrrhic victories in most of their major battles, since the doctrine of war for them was “Push until they fall” which resulted in many deaths but always in victory. When they found their Primarch Juno, the legion’s numbers were at a low 3,000 since they had lost 3/4 of their legion facing a large Ork WAAAGH, Juno upon taking command of the 18th issued in a new regimen of training and started the recruitment of Victorian soldiers. The process of becoming a space marine in the Liberators was a hard but fun journey, which involved a lot of sparring and near the end of training, having to spend a month in the great woods of Victoria and live off the land. The Geneseed of the Liberators has only one flaw, the battle brothers of the 18th, if exposed to great danger or near to death will go into a fury thinking of themselves as Juno in his early days in the Pit, but this only seems to happen to the Victorian born marines. The 18th are known to prioritize keeping casualties low on not only the legion’s but also those of the Imperial Guard, which has gotten them a good reputation with the Imperium’s civilian population. The Legion now consist of 175,000 marines, split into 5 cohorts of 3,5000 each cohort is split into 5 Centuriae of 7000 men, then finally they are split into squads or contubernium of 1400.

Legion Organisation and Structure:
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch: Juno Dominus
Legatus ( Legion’s second in command)
Centurion (Captains of the 18th)
Decanii ( The 18th’s Sergeants)
Prime Legionary (Veteran Marine)
Legionary (Everyday Marine)

Specialist Formations:
The Exploratores: These are the scouts of the Liberators and are known for setting up effective ambushes and acts of sabotage. There are 20 per Contubernium.
Image

Canis Inferos: The Canis Infernos or Hell Dogs are the heavy specialist of the Liberators, the Dogs are an effective fighting force donning their intimidating Terminator armor, but usually provide support in sieges or are used as the frontline on high target ambushes. There are 10 Hell Dogs per Contubernium.
Image

Legion Wargear: Standard issue Legion gear, but a large amount of Gladiuses which the Liberators use instead of standard issue chainswords or axes.
Legion Vehicles: Not many ground vehicles besides transport vehicles.
Legion Fleet: The 18th Legion's fleet is a pretty standard fleet with nothing special included in it. It includes 1 Gloriana-class Battleship The Hope Bringer, 10 Avenger-class Grand Cruisers,140 Tempest-class Strike Frigates, and 5 Cobra-class Destroyers.

Hey my guy, I saw your app. I'm not an OP or COOP, but this seems to be something that i have been seeing a lot.

Your Fleet assets my guy, diversify your fleet assets. The Glorianna is Great, wonderful heavily armed titan of a warship able to smash any brother trucker that comes by.

But 130 Frigates isn't going to be a serviceable escort, in my personal experience. Your applying for an Legio Astartes, you have the ability to requisition Strike cruisers, battle barges, grand cruisers, light cruisers and destroyers.

You could put together such an immense and effective fleet of warships.
