There was a bit of silence before Karel replied. Then he realized what may be going on: Levi didn’t want to lose face. He didn’t want to feel weak.

“Privately, then. Send an email to all the members of the Caucus, and I’ll put in the time to get them to come around to you taking the lead on antitrust.”

"Did I ever tell you what Senator Sullivan tried to do, Karel?"

“I know what happened, Levi. She tried to slap you, and that wasn’t right...” Karel sighed. “Leave out Senator Sullivan, then... but send an email to everyone else. But since you brought up what she tried to do... tell me what happened, from your perspective.”

Karel took his time in responding. Taking a stand against the super-delegates would mean siding with Levi... it was essentially an endorsement of his ideas, if not the man himself.

He didn’t want to appear to be taking sides. It was the same reason he was taking his time in fulfilling the request of a certain someone to send a low-level ally of his to try and swing Velez allies over to Dayton.

“I don’t want to take any action that would give the appearance of favoritism or siding with one candidate over the other. It’s why I’m not endorsing anyone this year, and it’s why I haven’t said anything publicly about the campaign.”

Crawford Clay for Senate Ad
Aired Across Texas
Image
[The scene opens with Crawford Clay, dressed in ranchers' clothes, his jacket over his shoulder, staring slightly to the right of the camera. Horses and cattle can be see grazing in the background. Twangy, mellow bluegrass music can be heard.]

Clay, now smiling into the camera: "Howdy. I'm Crawford Clay, and I'm running for Senate in 2020."

[Clay's voice is confident and masculine. The scene transitions to a montage of the following: a tractor plowing a vast field; a group of oil workers laboring hard over a pump; and a cowboy waving his hat in the air as he rides a bucking bronco. The camera dwells on this last shot.]

Clay: "I grew up in this beautiful state, and have served her for over a decade, so I know what it means to be Texan. We're strong people, with strong values. We value hard work, faith, and freedom."

[The bluegrass music is replaced by a somber piano track. The shot transitions to show Joe Frankston, photographed in a contrastingly urban location. Slowly, his surroundings fade to black and the camera focuses on his face.]

Clay: "But some of the candidates in this race don't understand Texan values. My opponent in the primary isn't willing to stand up for Texas in the Senate — in fact, he wants Texas to serve Washington."

[The piano melody, accompanied by a flute, subtly changes to "America, the Beautiful" as Frankston's image fades, replaced by Crawford Clay. He is now flanked by a large crowd, including construction workers, farmers, and a minister; there are several women, African Americans, and Latinos. An American flag waves in the background. Clay himself is surrounded by his wife and two sons, whom he pulls closer. All smile and nod in agreement with the message.]

Clay: "As Senator, I will make D.C. work for us. It's time we showed the establishment not to mess with Texas."

[The camera focuses exclusively on the billowing American flag. The Clay for Senate logo appears beside it, underscored by the slogan, "Faith. Family. Freedom." The words "Paid for by Texans for Clay" stand at the bottom of the shot in small print.]

Clay: "I'm Crawford Clay, and I approve this message."
Capilean News (Updated 16 November)
Where is the horse gone? Where the warrior?
Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it never were.

Crawford Clay's campaign ad seems a little contrived and yet heartfelt, does this mean he'll be a bad choice? I don't know, but I wish luck to both Mr. Clay and Mr. Frankston in the Texas Senate primaries. Good people over there, they deserve the best of the best for their Senator.

BLM is a very hateful organization full of very nasty people. They want to burn down many successful minority-owned businesses, especially Latino ones. Is Joe Frankston going to call it what it is??? I don't know! Maybe he supports BLM or like his friend supports its "ideals"!
