I will not accept the nomination of far-left candidates within the Democratic Party. We have stood for progressive change for people, but not for the radical extremes some in the party seek to drive us towards. If such a result occurs, all options are on the table because I will stand with Alaska, not ideologues.

A private Twitter message was sent from @RepresentativeVolker to @RoughriderGovernor.

Governor, I think you may have misspoke in your recent tweet as it's Good Friday rather than Christmas which marks the death of our Lord and Saviour.

I've spoken with Minority Leader Volker yesterday about possible legislative priorities, I want the first few months to be productive. I understand that there are bills that enjoy bipartisan approval, if not outright support, and I think we should target them to send a message that the federal government is doing well despite the recent changes."

"We can do that, and there's a number of areas I'd like to move forward on, especially with a few pieces of priority legislation that matter a great deal to my caucus and I." She frowned a little, holding her hand up a moment. "But before we get onto legislation, we really should discuss the elephant in the room. Or rather, the elephant not in the room."

"I'm assuming you're referring to my Vice President? Or rather lack there of?" Tawney replied. "It's too early to make announcements, but I have a few potential contenders for the spot. I ask of all our Democrats, voters and politicians alike, to respect the primary process. We may have our little differences but ultimately our wider goals are the same: guarantee human rights, end poverty, empower the marginalized. Whoever our nominee is, I have no doubt that they will be one of our greatest presidents in modern history. We should rally behind them.

I find it curious that, for all the centrist criticism of factionalism and purity politics, the threat of disunity is coming from those who self-identify as the moderate wing of the party. Working families need us to put ideological differences aside and get the job done. C'mon guys.
