"I understand," she acknowledged, "but you can also make the case that I offer the most pro-Labor and pro-worker policy platform of any candidate. I want to give almost three in five Americans a tax cut, I want to offer a competitive public healthcare option, I want to empower Unions with collective bargaining rights expanded industry-wide. I'm prepared to revisit our trade policy, and I'm ready to make apprenticeships and college degrees a reality for the kids of working families. My plan for retirement entitlements is also a realistic path forward when neither party's nominee can confidently say what shape Congress will take after November."

“Good evening, Buena noches… I am learning spanish and I’ve made a lot of progress recently but I am not at a level where I can do a full speech in spanish yet… But regardless of what your first language is I want to welcome you all here as members of the American family both new and old. Today I want to lay out to you part of my foreign policy vision for the 2020’s should I have the good fortune of being elected President, now I understand and fully acknowledge that foreign policy doesn’t always drive elections but it is incredibly important, especially when it deals with our own hemisphere.”
“Finding resolution to the current political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela is vital to the United States and the stability of South America. We must continue to accumulate leverage over Maduro and his inner circle while providing humanitarian assistance to key groups as we seek a negotiated resolution to the crisis caused by the tyranny of Maduro. This reflects not only the national security interests of the United States but our national values of defending democracy and providing humanitarian relief.”
“Over the last 3 years President Wolf and the United States Government has been committed to preventing Venezuela from becoming another Cuba. Let me state once again… unequivocally… That I supported the efforts of President Wolf, and support the continuation of those efforts under President Tawney, allow me to state once again,,, unequivocally… that Nicolas Maduro is the illegitimate leader of Venezuela, and Juan Guaido is the legitimate interim President of Venezuela.”
“The crisis in Venezuela is one inherited by President Wolf, again by President Tawney, and likely the next President. We saw in 2014 when regime-backing thugs slaughtered peaceful demonstrators and arrested 3,500 Venezuelan citizens, an action for which Baharia refused to impose even limited sanctions on the regime. Its clear the Baharia administration again and again neglected the suffering of the Venezuelan people and was unable to acknowledge that the Maduro regime was unwilling and unable to engage in dialogue or commit to democracy.”
“But it was not the first or last time the Baharia administration abandoned people in this hemisphere to thugs. He gave the Castro regime in Cuba three convicted spies, diplomatic legitimacy, removal from the state sponsors of terrorism list and pushed for increased commercial opportunities in exchange for a single hostage. The Baharia regime as time and again seen fit to allow oppression in Cuba and Venezuela without challenge.”
“Since President Wolf was elected the United States has Sanctioned 150 Venezuelana regime officials for corruption, human rights abuses and for drug trafficking, seizing hundreds of millions in drug related assets proving the criminality and abuses of the Maduro regime are not limited to the borders of Venezuela, and the Department of Justice has indicted Maduro and his inner circle.”
“Beyond these sanctions The Wolf Administration has sanctioned Russia oil companies, security and intelligence networks in Cuba and other international entities that enable and support the corrupt Maduro regime. Perhaps most importantly these hard hitting actions have been coordinated with partners in Central and South America to maximize impact on the regime and provide the most humanitarian assistance possible to our partners now overwhelmed by the refugee crisis caused by the Maduro dictatorship.”
“The answer to this crisis is not a military one. Our nation’s military is not a mechanism to resolve a political crisis, and while indeed the regime of Maduro represents a threat to the region and stability in Americas it is not a direct national security threat and does not warrant a military response. A military option would also pose incredible risk and likely destabilize the nation and the region which might take decades to rebuild. The potential humanitarian and economic consequences of such an intervention should not be understated.”
“The answer to this crisis is continuing and building on the path our nation has already undertaken. The US under President Wolf has taken strong steps in developing a Democratic Transition Framework for Venezuela but it is a work in progress, and will require constant vigilance and updates to the framework in order to succeed… Additionally my administration will articulate and enforce programs to prevent graft and politicization and encourage investment in the reconstruction of Venezuela… and as we continue forward with Venezuela using the Framework as a guide to transition we must maintain sanctions that exclude humanitarian and medical aid, while urging our partners to do the same, and circumventing the unlawful Maduro regime to give help straight to the Venezuelan people.“
“While I truly believe the situation in Venezuela is of vital national interest, and of moral interest... I do not support military action unless vital national security interests are threatened. That being said Maduro cannot be allowed to remain in power… Maduro is a sadistic thug, who lets his people rummage through garbage desperate for food, orders his military to run over protestors with trucks, makes dissidents disappear in the night and has arrested American citizens unlawfully incarcerating them for over a year. When aid convoys tried to enter the country Maduro blocked bridges and severed diplomatic ties, military units loyal to maduro have even burned relief trucks in their own country. We saw a civilian ship out of Puerto Rico carrying an American flag and American citizens threatened by the Maduro military. 3.3 millions Venezuelans have fled their country, many arriving right here in Florida, and some of you might be here today… I welcome you here, fleeing tyranny and oppression.”
“This made in Havan police state will not go quietly or easily, I cannot give you a real timeline for change or relief. But please know…. as President I will do all in my power to end the Maduro regime and provide aid to those still suffering under its boot.”
“My heart breaks with every image we see of the oppression, and violence of the Maduro regime, of the suffering caused by their socialist system…. With every conversation I have with survivors and refugees who have lost friends and family to the dictatorship or its destructive policies. To the government of Maduro and its enablers…. Governments in Caracas, Havana, Moscow, and Beijing, know that we will not abandon the people of Venezuela.”
“Whether or not I win the election in 2020 I will continue to make the case to the people of the United States that we must take a leadership role in this crisis. We have a moral duty, not just a geopolitical interest, in helping the people of Venezuela.”
“My administration will recognize no alternative to Maduro leaving office and will maintain and broaden cooperation with like-minded counterparts in this hemisphere and around the world. We must ignore calls for early elections as Maduro cannot be trusted with an election occurring under his watch. We recognize that the Maduro Government is not totally united, that it has cracks that can be exploited, we must not give up efforts to get the military to defect or members of his inner circle.”
“But even if we successfully begin a transition the struggle will not be over, over 100,000 paramilitary troops loyal to Maduro are loyal and mobilized and many have links to groups outside Venezuela and to organized crime. Any transition must account for the demobilization and disarmament of these fighters which have an arsenal containing $10 billion in weapons, mostly russian made and many designed with NATO in mind. Addressing this security challenge is just as important as handling the transition of government, economic development or humanitarian aid.”
“ Juan Guaido has developed a general framework that addresses these concerns and lays out a broad plan, my administration will work side by side to support President Guaido as he develops this plan so it is ready to be implemented as soon as transition occurs, and the plan should be developed in concert with nations like Colombia and Ecuador in order to disarm and de-mobilize these groups. Without disarming and dismantling the threat of paramilitary groups loyal to the Venezuelan dictatorship we cannot have free and fair elections in Venezuela.”
“While the United States should continue its leadership role in this crisis we cannot emerge victorious on behalf of the Venezuelan people without supporting regional partners. Over 3 million Venezuelans have already fled the country, neighbors such as Aruba now have 10% of their total population as native Venezuelans, in Curacao its 15%. This is a massive burden of refugees for any nation, it is an urgent crisis that needs more support before our partners in the region are overwhelmed.”
“The Lima Group specifically needs support. I have been blown away by this group, its willingness and ability to take on Maduro and fight for democracy in Venezuela has far exceeded my expectations. They have implemented sanctions, suspended military cooperation and cut many diplomatic ties to Venezuela, Canada as well has sanctioned over 100 Venezuelan Government officials but the EU needs to be more proactive in its effort to sanction and pressure the Maduro regime. Their response is not proportional to the crimes and atrocities committed by Maduro .”
“Enablers of the Maduro regime need to feel the pain of sanctions leveled by the United States and freedom loving nations around the world. In Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Venezuelan dictator has found someone not just to provide him with arms but support in the UN in the same way Putin aided Bashar al-Assad. To Putin, supporting Maduro does not require a great deal of troops or a big cash investment, but leaves Venezuela indebted to Putin and Russia a powerbroker, Putin cannot be trusted and sanctions should be leveled against the Russian state and any entities backed by Russia that provide Maduro with aid.”
“In a similar fashion we see the Cuban government working to keep Maduro in power, with thousands of individuals embedded in the Venezuelan Government and Cuba reliant on Venezuelan oil for roughly 12% of its GDP. The influence, support and presence of Cuba is vital for the survival of the Maduro regime and the oil subsidies to Cuba from Venezuela are vital for the survival of the Castro regime, simply put the path to the liberation of the Veneuelan people may be through Cuba, and our foreign partners should be encouraged to follow the United States in increasing pressure on the Cuban dictatorship.”
“To liberate the Venezuelan people we must strongly encourage other nations in the region and elsewhere to fully acknowledge the role that Cuba, Russia and to a lesser extent China, play in propping up the illegitimate Maduro regime and undermining democracy in Venezuela. Any sanctions and any pressure the United States implements against the Maduro regime or external enablers is doubly effective if other nations join us.”
“We cannot keep our heads in the sand to reality… Venezuela is a failed state. One of the most resource rich nations in the world, blessed with so many gifts and advantages, destroyed by a power mad dictatorship and a failed socialist system. The economy has collapsed and humanitarian aid is struggling to fully and effectively deploy, it is a security crisis, a humanitarian crisis, and an economic crisis all rolled together. The Venezuelan people deserve better than to choose between starvation and oppression or becoming a refugee. This will not be a crisis that will be solved overnight, or one solved without great struggle. But it is one that we shall win, because In the words of one of my great heroes, and a son of Venezuela… ‘A people that loves freedom will in the end be free.’ My friends the people of Venezuela long for freedom and opportunity, they long for liberty and dignity, and as long as they do not lose that spirit they will overcome and flourish once again. Thank you God Bless the United States and God Bless the people of Venezuela!”

Murphy won't win the Democratic primary, and he won't control the House, the Speaker's not that type of a Democrat. Richardson needs to make a case that he's not the same kind of corporatist that has soured the GOP over the past twelve years in the hearts and minds of the people.

The Prendergast residence in suburban Charleston was a handsome and well protected home, with enough privacy to suit anyone's purposes. Decorated for Christmas, the Governor would be admitted by a maid who worked for the family and who showed him to Jonah's study, where he was sat working on some details for his State of the State address to be given next month. Looking up at Nate, he stood up and went to shake the other's hand courteously. "Governor Richardson."

It’s good that you’re showing restraint and not going for the subpoena option right away. It’s tempting to get a subpoena immediately and demonstrate the corruption of the other side, but that runs the risk of destroying the rare sense of mutual goodwill between you and the White House. We’ll need that mutual goodwill to get our agenda through Congress and on the President’s desk.

@NebraskaGov
The State of Nebraska has received evidence that Douglas County and Lancaster County are no longer sanctuary jurisdictions, and therefore, are being removed from the state's lawsuit against sanctuary jurisdictions. All evidence available, however, leads us to believe that Hall County and Sarpy County are such jurisdictions, and therefore, are still being sued for breaking state and federal law.
