“Thank you for coming everybody.
I would like to start today’s briefing by addressing a couple of issues, after which I will answer a couple of questions.
As some of you may know I was inaugurated as President a couple of hours ago…
Since then I have held my first cabinet meeting during which we discussed the sensitive situation our nation and its political system has found itself in, considering the circumstances of my accession to the presidency. I would like to take this moment to ask the American people to pray for the well-being of President Wolf and his family. For the past 35 months President Wolf and his loyal administration which I had the privilege of being a part of has enacted an agenda of patriotism, restoring our nation’s strength and greatness. And while President Wolf cannot see the enactment of his bold agenda to its full extent, I can assure everyone that my service has only begun and there are many victories ahead of us. The “America First” agenda is still going full steam ahead.
To ensure that I have met earlier today with my good friend Thomas Volker, the House Minority Leader. During our meeting we have discussed the legislative challenges ahead of us as well as the legislation awaiting my signature. I hope to see you tomorrow for the official signing of the Relief Act, an urgently needed piece of legislation.
I have also appointed a new Chief of Staff, a trusted colleague and long-time ally, Daniel Burton. Daniel has worked for me for longer than either one of us can remember. He’s a trusted advisor, a truly hard-working man who I can assure everybody will get the job done. As for President Wolf’s Chief of Staff, I can assure everybody that he will find a place in my administration as my new advisor.
Tomorrow I will be meeting with Speaker Caroline Simone to discuss the relationship between the two branches of the government going forward. For now we have exchanged letters expressing our good faith and willingness to communicate. I know that Speaker Simone and Speaker Douglas have not been the best of friends to President Wolf, but I hope the Speaker will finally see things our way.
With that I will now take a couple of questions.”

Currently, we just don’t have enough evidence to keep all of the charges, they’ll be dismissed in court anyway, so why not drop them now? Off the record, Jamison is a decent guy, a real decent guy. Very family orientated, so who’s going to look at it if the DOJ drop a few charges?”

Thank you all for coming. As many of you know, I called this press conference to address the state of my campaign.
Over the past few months I had the highest privilege of meeting and speaking to a diverse set of Americans, from the West Coast cities like my hometown of Seattle, through rural communities of Iowa to the wonderful people of New Hampshire. Everywhere I went I talked and I listened. I talked about the challenges of leadership, the many qualities we seek in a prospective president and my perspective on our country’s future. In return I got to hear about the stories of everyday Americans overcoming challenges and prospering in spite of our less than ideal system. I had the highest honor of exchanging perspectives on the current state of affairs - the structures and institutions that work for the American people as well as those that fail to live up to our expectations. Through these conversations I was able to gain valuable insight into the everyday lives of Americans of all backgrounds, insight that helped me shape my policy proposals and guide my vision for a better America. And even though I am ending my campaign today, I know that our work is far from over. As the famous song proclaimed “Change Is Gonna Come”, and it will be us who will make it happen.
I would like to thank all of the volunteers who have joined me in this undertaking. Helping me spread our progressive message far and wide. Many of those volunteers were young people, passionate about the direction our country is going in and its future. Seeing so many enthusiastic activists and community organizers working all across the country to build a better tomorrow gives me hope that change is not only possible, but also inevitable.
I couldn’t have done any of this if it weren’t for my campaign stuff. I would like to thank all of my advisors, organizers, strategists, policy experts and much more for all that they have done for me and the political discourse of this nation. Hopefully our shared vision for America will become a reality, even if it isn’t with me in the White House.
We, the progressives, wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Sam Baginski, whose historic campaign has changed the political landscape of our country. Four years ago my good friend Sam did something inevitable - he used his platform to awaken the progressive spirit of our nation, bringing forward solutions that have not been talked about before. And even though both of our campaigns have now ended, the ideas live on.
Because campaigns, just like politicians, come and go. But our values, goals, struggles and issues live on for better or worse.
Even though my campaign has ended the looming climate crisis is far from resolved. The youth of our nation is facing an uncertain future, our children and grandchildren are yet to breathe the sigh of relief as the much needed programs such as the Green New Deal are yet to be enacted.
The end of my campaign does not mean the end of the healthcare crisis, as tens of thousands of Americans are still dying due to lack of access to proper healthcare every year. As I return to my regular gubernatorial duties, millions of Americans are yet to receive fair pay for their hard work. We need to do more. We have laid the foundation for a better America, now it is up to us to see that our leaders take on the torch of progress.
Today I will not be making an endorsement. Instead I will be giving a few words of advice to the American people.
Little over three years ago we allowed for division and cynicism to triumph. Today we need to make the lesson of 2016 clear: we cannot fall into the trap of false populism once more, we cannot let ourselves be divided on the basis of race, gender or religion. We need to hold our politicians accountable, whether big or small. When you cast your vote, be it a couple of months from now during the primaries or on Election Day a year from now, make sure that you vote for a good person. Make sure that your vote is not only a strategic decision, but also a commendation of moral values, of honesty, transparency and understanding. Vote for someone who is willing to fight for your Latino neighbor just as much as they are willing to vote for you. Vote for someone who is willing to fight for your Muslim classmate or gay relative just as much as they are willing to fight for you. But most of all, make sure that you get to cast your vote for someone who is willing to fight for someone other than themselves.
My campaign has ended, but our fight continues. Thank you very much.
annecaldwell - This has been a wonderful journey, one which I will never forget. Even though first votes are yet to be cast we made sure that the discourse of this election will be centered around ordinary Americans. None of this would be possible without the amazing support you have given me over these last few months. Thank you.
And while my campaign may be over, our fight has only begun. With only 45 days to Iowa caucuses and 319 days to Election Day we must make sure that our voices are heard. Make sure to visit caldwell2020.com to see resources on policies such as criminal justice reform, strengthening our democracy or a living wage as well as tips and guides on getting in touch with your elected representatives on Capitol Hill.

The Forward Party appears to be generating traction on social media. It is possible they are able to obtain ballot access in a not insignificant number of states. As you know, the Libertarians and Greens combined last election gained around 4% of the vote. In addition Arnold Wolf only won Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin by a combined tally of less than 100,000 votes. His margin of victory in these states was exceeded by the total number of Green votes in these states, making it likely that Green vote splitting could of cost Diane Clifford the election. It is highly possible that the Forwards may gain enough votes to throw the election in those states to the Democratic nominee, assuming he does not pull from them as much. I was wondering if the Republican Party or your campaign has a plan in place to discredit the Forward Party and Johnathan Wilson among the Republican base to ensure he does not create vote splits among enough of our base to cost us swing states and key Congressional races.
