Patrick Campaign Official Statement
November 13, 2019

This statement has been issued to clarify recent remarks made by Representative Patrick regarding veterans. In a tweet yesterday, Patrick was thought to have claimed that veterans were "traitors". This is not true. Patrick was calling Senator Everitt Colbert a 'traitor' to the Republican Party. It's this kind of disgusting slander that makes the media untrustworthy.

Christina Mudale
Motel in Florida

Christina exited her Chevy Tahoe in front of the small motel. She had departed for it shortly after her speech in Montgomery. She had spent most of the trip fixated on Twitter, hoping for the GOP endorsements to start pouring in.

As she entered the motel she prepared herself, ready to potentially meet with Governor Nate Richardson. There was no fanfare or cheering like at her speech, just a lone Alabaman woman entering a normal looking motel in Florida.

Nate greeted her warmly, the room was crowded with folders, papers and other materials of a fast moving campaign but it was all neatly organized. "Ms Mudale its a pleasure to meet you, please make yourself at home." Nate gestured to a seat at a small table which he than sat at "I'm happy we could make this meeting work."

Christina couldn’t hide her smile as she shook hands with the Governor. As a little girl she would’ve never imagined shaking hands with a Presidential candidate, nonetheless one that could potentially endorse her own current political campaign.

“It’s on honor Governor Richardson. I will admit I have some nerves on the way over yonder. With the senate announcement and now meeting a potential President, it’s almost too much to take in. I haven’t felt this way since I was cheer captain in high school.” She cleared her throat to calm her nerves.

“Anyhow, I suppose ya’ll wish to speak about us endors’n one another?”

Nate's own southern accent was more subtle than Christina's but still present and noticeable, "Please its just you and me here right now, please call me Nate. But yes, don't worry about my campaign right now. This Senate race was important and i think you're an interesting candidate that could go the distance. I'd like to meet with you, get an idea of what you're all about and then if I like what I hear you can count on me to endorse and campaign for you."

Chuck Wallace: "Aaannd we are back! If you are just tuning in with us here at Fox News Democracy Headquarters, we are covering Election Night in Louisiana tonight. Polls have been closed for several hours now and while ballot counting started off slow in cities like New Orleans and Baton Rouge, these inner city and urban precints have begun to come in, bolstering the totals of incumbent Democratic Governor Russell Long. As we wait for these results to report more, I'd like to turn to senior Fox News election analyst Markus Delmotte on his thoughts as the last suburban and rural precints are coming in."

Markus Delmotte: "Well Chuck, it was nothing short of a victory for former state treasurer John Holland, the Republican nominee in this race. He seemed to have done what his campaign intended to do: undercut the victories that Long achieved in 2015 with his broadly populist message and outright reverse the results in a number of key parishes that had gone for Long but then flipped to the GOP in 2016, voting by decisive margins for now President Wolf. I mean, just looking at one of these areas, take Calcasieu Parish where in the jungle primary, Holland improved on (Not-Vitter)'s performance. Tonight, John Holland won there, a sign he not only has beaten Long in key swing electorates but has won over a number of working class and suburban voters."

Chuck Wallace: "So what does this mean Markus?"

Markus Delmotte: "Simple. Long needs a major boost from these urban areas in Louisiana to make up the differences. Because right now, the way things stand, I think its clear that what had helped Governor Long come to victory in 2015 which was his populist message resonating with working-class voters did not happen this time around."

Adelaide Smith: "As a side note though, the data has shown that there are a number of younger voters coming out for Long in force. More than came out in 2015 for Long, which might be a benefit to him despite the slumping support among African-Americans. Though whether he can make up for poor turnout among blacks is going to be a nail-biting bet, especially since young people often are an unreliable voting base. But I think its clear that a number of factors are still giving Russell Long a shot at winning this election and showing his message really resonates with Louisianians despite all comments deriding by the Holland campaign."

Peter Nandi: "Not deriding Adelaide. It was showing the truth, the truth of socialized medicine and basically running up charges on Louisiania's budget, a budget that shouldn't be mismanaged for these radical liberal policies even national Democrats are wary of adopting. Long wanted this state to be the guinea pig for his rumored presidential run and to boost his own credibility. And due to that bigger, national appetite, he lost the focus on local and state issues. In contrast, John Holland held to a simple message of common-sense measures and showed that on the debate stage. I mean, he stayed on message and delivered a tenable platform while Long seemed to ramble on about his big ideas."

Adelaide Smith: "His bombastic style worked before though and now with a real record of fixing (Not-Jindal)'s budget mess and fixing healthcare, we can't count him out yet. And look, while some of his economic policies certainly did not help his message, he still has proven himself an effective southern Democrat and a tough politician to beat despite being a Democrat in deep red Louisiana. Taking a look at a handful of races for the Louisiana state legislature, a number of these local Democrats are still benefitting from his coattails. Perhaps they are not complete on message with him on everything but he remains an effective force here and he cannot be discounted. Not now or even after the results of this election. Look Peter, even if either of these candidates lose tonight, both have real competitive paths in the 2020 Senate race right here in Louisiana. And Russell Long deserves props for doing that despite having a D next to his name."

Chuck Wallace: "Let me jump in right here for a minute Adelaide, Peter. You have some news for us Markus?"

Markus Delmotte: "Yes, two big things. Firstly, we now have a clearer picture in suburban and rural areas with almost all of these precints reporting now. It is clear that John Holland brought his primary opponent's supporters to his side in full force. The state legislator Joseph Foney, who was eliminated in the previous jungle primary in October, was a major Wolfist and took a sharp turn to the right of Holland. But despite this, his supporters were far more concerned with beating Russell Long and it appears they did just that, outperforming (Not-Vitter)'s 2015 totals across the board. Even places Long still held onto the majority, Holland pushed the margins closer than they should be. But as Adelaide said, it is also becoming clear that the state legislature is still competitive as Democratic candidate across Louisiana are still giving the GOP a run for their money in their bid to control a veto-proof majority."

Chuck Wallace: "And your second point?"

Markus Delmotte: "New Orleans and Baton Rouge precints have been finally rolling in and are actually coming much faster than we initially expected. I'm still waiting confirmation from our other analysts and number crunchers but I think its clear that urban Louisianians simply did not come out in full force for Long as they did in 2015. African American turnout was already much lower as we had seen earlier in the handful of parishes reporting but now the picture is clearer that the voters and ballots simply aren't coming in the same way as they did four years ago. And I think thi-"

Chuck Wallace: "Sorry to cut you off Markus but the confirmation you had been waiting for has just come in and it appears your predictions have lined up. Let's get those results up on the screen...and it appears that we here at Fox News Democracy Headquarters are confident enough to call the Louisiana gubernatorial election for Republican John Holland at 92% of precints reporting, with a current lead of almost six points and over 80,000 votes. So before we go to a break, Fox News is calling the Louisiana gubernatorial election as a GOP pickup this offyear election with a confident and decisive victory for Republican and former state treasurer John Holland. We'll be right back with more."

On behalf of my family, we offer our continued prayers to John Holland and to his future success as the next Governor of Louisiana. And on behalf of my Twitter-less husband, he is glad to have helped deliver an honest man a chance at leadership and he is ready to help again. #CongratsHolland

Lunch with Kathleen
Norfolk, VA
November 6, 2019

At about 11.30AM, Jillian had finished the cleaning involved. She and her husband had mopped up the house, he'd gotten the barbeque going and Jillian had plucked out an appropriate afternoon bottle of apple juice and set up the backyard. The winter air would intensify soon enough, this was probably the last warm day for a while.

Kathleen was expected to arrive in the next ten minutes, so Jillian collapsed on her couch, tired, exhausted. The night before she'd gotten rather intoxicated at the wrap-up party. Celebrations were well earned in her opinion. Democrats had done well across the board. Now, she would entertain Kathleen Nez, Liam would bug the boyfriend by the barbeque while she and Nez sat at the dining table outside.

Then she heard the car outside. They had arrived alas.

Kathleen parked the Tesla her partner, Agustin, had rented after landing at Reagan in the driveway while Agustin himself sat in the passenger seat holding a bottle of wine the clerk at the alcohol store said was good. Kathleen fixed her hair and Agustin made sure his grey suit jacket hadn't gotten any wrinkles.

After taking a few seconds to do so, the pair got out of the car and made their way to the door with Kathleen knocking on it before anyone on the other side of it could of gotten there to open it and invite the couple in.

Jillian opened the door, wearing jeans and a white button up shirt, "Kathleen!" she embraced Kathleen, shook Agustin's hand and led them through the house. The Dayton House in Norfolk had seen multiple facelifts in recent years, most recently a complete overhaul of the kitchen. Jillian takes Agustin's jacket and places it on the hanger before they first walk past the landing, an at-home office sat by the door, a formal sitting area in front of the stairs. Then that led into the kitchen, this whole ground floor had been renovated in the summer of 2018 when Jillian and Liam spent six days a week hammering nails and plucking out planks. Her sister in law had come down from Philly to help out.

She then walked them through the kitchen, past the informal dining spot and the living room which was the tidiest it had been in years and through the doors leading out into the backyard. Liam was on the deck by the barbeque, wearing his own jeans and a Dayton 2020 shirt. Jillian smirked, he'd gotten changed since she left him be.

Liam extended a hand as well, "Congresswoman," he greeted Kathleen, "Agustin, if she ever runs for office and accuses you of being unsupportive, this is the fastest way out of the doghouse."

Jillian laughed, "as if anyone could ever put you in the doghouse," she gestured to the seats, "please sit, sit."

HOLLAND VICTORY SPEECH
LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA
JOHN HOLLAND

"Hello! Hello! Thank you! Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting this campaign! Thank you to all of you for turning out to vote! Ladies and gentlemen, we have done it. Our campaign has brought real change to Louisiana! Our campaign for real reform will continue for the next four years in the Governor's Mansion! You know, this campaign was started on a simple vision, and that simple vision was about returning this state to responsible leadership, putting an end to the partisan politics of our current government, and bringing in common sense and bipartisan solutions. We ran a campaign that was not about sowing further divison or spewing empty rhetoric, but rather about uniting Republicans, Democrats, and Independents together under the banner of detailed policies and thoughtful, compassionate governance. It is very clear based on the results tonight that our vision has resonated with the state, and we will be putting our vision into practice next year.

Now before I continue with my remarks, I want to thank my team and everyone who volunteered for this campaign. I want to give a huge thank you to my campaign manager George Benson, who showed himself every day to be a smart, kind, and bold leader. Seriously, this guy put work in. And as well I thank all of my campaign staff who believed in our message and my ability to fight for the future of our state. I thank all of the ordinary people who took the time to go spread our message across Louisiana and worked with all of us to build a more sensible future for our state. Most of all I thank my family. I thank my wife Joyce for being with me every step of the way during this journey, for motivating me when things got tough, and holding me accountable if I'd ever slack off. I thank my daughters April and Athena as well as their grandchildren for reminding me who I ran this campaign for: the working people of Louisiana, the next generation who will lead this state into the next era. I of course again thank you all for getting out and voting to make a difference for Louisiana and having faith in me to get things done for you.

But I know that not everyone is going to be happy tonight. I know there are many people tonight who voted to re-elect Governor Long and are disappointed and concerned with the future. I fully understand your fears. I understand why there were many who had hope in Long's agenda, and I promise that I will work to surpass your expectations. I will work to fulfill the goals set out by Governor Long that he had never been able to accomplish, like lifting Louisianans out of poverty, providing good quality healthcare to those who need it, giving our kids better education opportunities, and investing in our infrastructure. Though Governor Long and I disagreed very strongly on how to fix these issues on the trail, we both shared a common belief in the beauty of Louisiana, and I would like to take a moment here to congratulation him for running a campaign that inspired hundreds of thousands of Louisianans. I hope that my plans to reform how we do things here in this state can convince you to get behind this solution-based agenda, and I also hope that you will hold me accountable if I make an error, that goes not just for those who didn't vote for me but for those who did as well.

I didn't run this campaign on division and partisan politics, I ran it on uniting our state and putting aside our differences to find a better path forward for all of us. My whole career has been about finding common ground, from my time in the state house to state treasurer. I will do the same as your Governor. That thoughtful leadership is what will guide me through this journey these next four years. God willing, we will make Louisiana a better place. Not the murder capital of America, but the education capital of America! Not the poverty capital of America, but the jobs capital of America! Thank you to all of you for supporting this campaign! Let's get to work! God bless you and God bless Louisiana!"

He joked as he handed it over.

As the group of them made their way out onto the deck, Agustin gave out a slightly laugh in response to Liam's joke at Kathleen gave his hand a good shake as she chuckled along. As Jillian gestered to the seats, the pair soon found their way into sitting in them, "You two have a lovely home," Kathleen commented.

"The bill as originally presented to the House needed amendments and so members from both sides of the House spent time refining and improving the Act to ensure that it comprehensively addresses the needs of those in disaster zones. The original draft of the bill was a bit too narrow in scope. The amendments have been processed and it'll go up to the Senate imminently, where I'm sure it'll get nodded through."

How was the drive?"

"Why wasn't the bill amended prior to being introduced on the floor?" frowned Anna.

Kathleen accepted the warm embrace and Agustin the handshake before following Jillian through her humble, and much cleaner/clutterful than their own, abode. As they walked through, Agustin offered up the bottle of wine, "We're not completely sure if this is high quality win, but the person manning the shop we stoped at said it was one of the best wines they offered, so here's to hoping it's that good after all." He joked as he handed it over.

"Pretty nice," Kathleen started, "I haven't had the chance to get out of the District all that much so it was nice to take a bit of a trip though a bit of Virginia, I didn't realize how many people in Williamsburg actually dressed up like colonists so that was interesting to actually see for the first time, but like I said, it was pretty nice."

"Virginia is a beauty," Jillian smiled, as Liam and Agustin fiddled with the barbeque.

"How are you finding the hill? Congress everything you imagined it to be?" she asked.

"Well, I certainly wasn't planning on getting myself into the leadership in my first term, so I guess you could say I'm better at it than I expected I would be," Kathleen said, chuckling, "What about you?"

Governor Jonah Prendergast Jr.
@JPJ4USA

My good friend John Holland has pulled out an incredible win in Louisiana, ending the impotent tyranny of Lousy Russell Long! I'm eager to see Louisiana taken in a new direction. This is the momentum on which we will put an end to Democrat obstruction and dirty dealing in 2020!
