The Land of the Free: American Political Roleplay (IC II)

[Greater Arab State]

The House Minority Leader was sat at his desk, reading through a number of bills that were on the House docket, his mind also contemplating the results of the down ballot elections and there implications further along the line. Soon after however, he heard a knock in his office door, looking over at his office clock and having an idea as to who it would be, he elected to walk towards the office door himself and open it rather than having his secretary do so. Opening the door, he saw that it was Congressman Patrick.

“Ah, it’s good of you to make it, Representative. Come in please.” The House Minority Leader said as he smiled and stepped back in order to allow the South Carolinian to step into the office.

"Thank You,"

He stepped inside, and glanced out the window. "Washington is beautiful this time of year" he said.

“Oh yes, that is certainly true, Congressman.” The House Minority Leader said, rounding his desk until he was opposite Patrick.

“Please, Congressman, have a seat.” Volker said, gesturing slightly towards the chair opposite him.

"That's good to hear." Anne replied seemingly oblivious to the suggestion. "I am sure we could discuss this for hours, but from what I understand this is not the focal point of this meeting. So, our cooperation. How would you see it? Do you want me to simply endorse you or campaign for you? Maybe do fundraising or help with organizing? What are your expectations towards me?"

"At the absolute worst, an endorsement," Jillian shifted gears, "in my mind, you have the makings of the first Secretary of the VA to be a woman, and would be able to use that position to effect real change."

She continued, "my cabinet needs people of merit, who know how to run their departments and can do their jobs effectively, who can counsel my Administration's decisions and work with the Hill, we could end our meeting tonight, and I'd still nominate you for Secretary of the VA should I make it there, but I'd rather have you with me along the way."

"I'll think about it. It's a big decision to make, I hope you understand. As far as the nomination goes, I'm certainly interested, but right now I want to consider all of my options. Maybe I'll join you in the Cabinet or, perhaps, will end up in your old Senate office come 2022. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but I can promise you that when I make a decision you will be among the first people to know."

“Yes, that is certainly true.” The House Minority Leader agreed, chuckling in reply as he then continued.

“I must admit, I do wish we were having this meeting in better times, what with some of the recent election results this year. Hopefully though we’ll be able to address a number of the issues that have come up within the Republican Party as of late.”

"And put forth our plan for 2020. We cannot afford a defeat like 2008 or 2018. We must hold steady, already we've given up too much ground and too much money in failures."

Abernathy fixed his jacket as he leaned back, reviewing the room.

Continuing to stay seated for a short while as he contemplated recent events. The House Minority Leader proceeded to turn his head towards the Governor as he spoke.

“I suppose it would be best if we headed up to the Chairwoman’s office now, Governor. I’m sure Majority Leader Warrick will arrive in a short while.”

I was wondering whether you would be able to explain to me some of you recent activity on social media, more specifically why you’ve caused our Party some embarrassment by openly feuding with a number of its members as well as making comments that could be considered quite derisive to both veterans and President Wolf?” The House Minority Leader said plainly, his demeanour having changed to one of cold, stern professionalism.

"Well, the argument started not because of me, but because of Senator Brown. The veteran tweet was simply a gaffe, and the comments on President Wolf in my opinion aren't much different from many politicians. I'm not a big fan of Wolf myself, in fact."

Mudale Announcement Speech

Montgomery Alabama, November 11th 2019

”Good evening Montgomery, I am so glad ya’ll can be here tonight. Man, it looks great to see how us Alabamans can rally together like this. I’ll tell you what, those damned coastal elites and so called “college intellectuals” must be shaking when they see us turn up in crowds like this.

Now, I have ya’ll gathered here tonight because we have a very important announcement, one that will make those damned elites in Washington quake!

Despite the beauty, hard work and faith of the people of the great state of Alabama not all is well. A man who wishes to see us subjugated and neutered to the whims of the great political regime of DC holds one of our seats in the United States Senate!

Our state’s rights, our heritage, our damned faith is at risk! Gordon Callahan is a Liberal through and through, a full-blooded Representative of the elitists who want our great state trampled. I call him, “Connecticut Callahan” because distant New England college “intellectuals” are the only ones he serves. We must remove him from office as soon as possible, which is why I am officially announcing my candidacy for United States Senator!

When I am in the senate, I will support small government and states-rights oriented policies. I will focus on lowering taxes, defending our state’s right to fly that Rebel Flag high, voting against bills that continue the horrible Liberal genocide of our unborn, and protecting Alabamans from Washington overreach! Our Union was founded on state's rights, yet every day the Washington Elite dedicate themselves into trampled our state and trying to draw it in to a Socialist, Liberal, Authoritarian rule.

I will preserve Law and Order. In the far off Liberal cities police are neutered and weakened with strict restrictions and lowered funding, but under my watch I will ensure Alabama has the most well funded and effective police there is! My father is a man of the law, and I know just how much it would mean to him and the victims of crimes that we crack down on crime and punish these offenders who the Liberal elitists want to give bail too and let run loose. Blue Lives Matter to me, and I will defend them from those who seek to do them harm. As District Attorney for Covington County I have always supported the law and those uphold it, and will continue to do so when I am Senator.

But keeping a well funded police force isn’t the only way I will defend Alabamans, but also from these damned criminals coming across our border! I will help our next Republican President to continue construction of President Wolf’s border wall, defending Americans from violent rapists and drug smugglers. If the Democrats had their way they will flood Alabama with illegal aliens from the South and dangerous terrorists from the Middle East, putting Alabaman lives at risk just to flip the state blue!

Under my leadership, Alabamans will witness a new level of economic freedom like never before seen. My proposals are simple, yet damned effective! Lower taxes, trade schools, and industrial development. These three key pillars will lead Alabama to a new height of economic prosperity. For too long have the working people of this state been trampled on and driven to economic ruin by excessive taxes and Liberals selling off jobs to the Chinese and illegal aliens. I will lower Alabaman's taxes to a new low and support trade schools that put real hard working Americans in jobs, not the people of other lands.

Lunch with Kathleen

At about 11.30AM, Jillian had finished the cleaning involved. She and her husband had mopped up the house, he'd gotten the barbeque going and Jillian had plucked out an appropriate afternoon bottle of apple juice and set up the backyard. The winter air would intensify soon enough, this was probably the last warm day for a while.

Kathleen was expected to arrive in the next ten minutes, so Jillian collapsed on her couch, tired, exhausted. The night before she'd gotten rather intoxicated at the wrap-up party. Celebrations were well earned in her opinion. Democrats had done well across the board. Now, she would entertain Kathleen Nez, Liam would bug the boyfriend by the barbeque while she and Nez sat at the dining table outside.

Then she heard the car outside. They had arrived alas.

Kathleen parked the Tesla her partner, Agustin, had rented after landing at Reagan in the driveway while Agustin himself sat in the passenger seat holding a bottle of wine the clerk at the alcohol store said was good. Kathleen fixed her hair and Agustin made sure his grey suit jacket hadn't gotten any wrinkles.

After taking a few seconds to do so, the pair got out of the car and made their way to the door with Kathleen knocking on it before anyone on the other side of it could of gotten there to open it and invite the couple in.

Chip for Governor
November 5th, 2019

Gulfport, Mississippi

"Well this fucking sucks," Chip thought to himself watching the results come in from backstage. If anything he kind of wanted to punch the TV and pop Karen Brookshire like a pimple. It sure would be a whole lot easier to tell Mississippians to put their trust in the State House to deliver the Governorship to whoever if the difference in the vote was only something alone the lines of a few hundred votes. But given that it was looking like Brosnan would win the popular vote by atleast a percentage point, if not an outright majority, well that at that point it starts looking worst and worst.

None the less, it was time to get out there and give a speech, so with that Chip took a final chug from whatever he was already drinking and headed out their to whatever reaction those in attendance had. Taking his position at the podium, he started.

"How's it goin' out there tonight Mississippi? Now, I know this isn't the result any of us were hopin' for tonight, personally I was hopin' Mississippians could wake up tomorrow and find out who their next Governor is, sadly it doesn't look like that's what's going to happen? Right now, no one has one our state's Gubernatorial election, sure I've won our state's electoral college for the office, but no one's won a majority of the popular vote, meaning our State House is ultimately going to decide who's goin' be out next Governor and I'll respect the decision they ultimately decide, whether Mississippians lobby their State Reps by calling, texting, and writing to their office tellin' 'em to vote Chip Renfus for Governor or Eleanor Brosnan."

"I want to thank all the wonderful Mississippians who voted for and volunteered for the campaign along the way. For all of them out there who still want a Republican in the Governor's Mansion rather than a Democrat well, then it's up to you guys to make sure this race keeps on going till it ends.
