In a friend’s car, riding back from San Antonio, Mark Allen, unarmed for the first time in years, felt very defeated.

He saw the incoming call, and put on his Bluetooth headphones to talk to Richardson while he ate some Whataburger that they picked up along the way back to Shiner.

“Governor Richardson...so...this is embarrassing, don’t ya think?! Wait...this is Governor Richardson right?”

"Yes Mark its Nate... I'm so sorry Mark I called as soon as I could... How are you holding up?"

“I was right! They were watching me!” he said, ignoring the question about how he was doing. This was typical for Mr. Allen, he had a need to be strong, his feelings never came out unless he was relaxed.

“Nate...they said somebody made an anonymous tip. And they searched my office...remember, the highly-secured office with all the gun safes? I don’t know who’s their little snitch, but I’m about to fire that goddamn receptionist if I find out she gave the ATF a tip.”

“We’re just lucky that I’m on the campaign. I’ve been prepared for the Feds to make up some bullsh*t to pin on me...that was my biggest worry when I got into politics, that they’d try to go after me, try to paint me like I’m Cliven Bundy or Randy Marsh or something.”

In his frustration, he mixed up Randy Weaver of Ruby Ridge fame with Randy Marsh, the South Park character.

Senator Colbert: “Fine. How are you?”

"Oh, good. I'm good, sir. I wanted to follow up on your expressed reservations about the Nez Reapportionment Act on social media. It seems you're not opposed in principle but seem to have a concern regarding the census?"

Senator Colbert: “I support the general idea to get a more representative House, but I’m afraid we can’t make any decisions about the number of seats or how many states get without a valid decennial census.”

I wonder about Porter. He’s anti-gun more than I like...”

“It could be any of ‘em!”

“You know that this is a misunderstanding right? Did the Mrs. tell you about that?”

"The valid census will happen in 2020, and it's those numbers which will be used under the rules laid down in Representative Nez's bill to make the final totals. The totals in the bill are projections. Utah is projected to gain three House seats, Senator Colbert."

“One of the boys should run for it. They’re good kids, and the state likes us well enough.”

She smiled.

“I do like this campaigning thing...I never thought I did. But how am I going to do something of my own if I’m the First Lady? The same way I do now?”

"Maybe our younger could make a play for it. We'll have to see." He nodded softly, a warm smile on his face. "And you'd have the power of the entire Republican establishment behind you, Martha, I could give you anything."

"I'd imagine it would have to be someone that suspected you might have some faulty paperwork or a secret like that. And someone who thinks they can win Texas... I don't think its Wolf Jr... but we shouldn't be throwing accusations around until we get some evidence. One thing I need to ask however... my phone has been ringing off the hook with questions about this... if you want this to stay private i'll tell them to take a hike, or I can go loud...

Whenever possible I like to meet candidates for an office in person before endorsing. While John Holland of Louisiana was certainly impressive on paper, I still wanted to meet him. It took awhile to coordinate our schedules but it finally happened and let me tell you he exceeded my expectations. He happily has my endorsement in the race for Governor of Louisiana.

"Yes, yes, yes, bring it up," the Mayor exclaimed from the top of the stair case. It was a long climb to reach the Mayor's office on the top floor. Several men were a few floors below her, carrying up what seems to be a replica for the 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign'. The men were evidently struggling, but Tammy continued to peer over the balcony. "Look guys, I'd help you if I was twenty-years younger," she exclaimed from the top floor down to them. She turned around and rolled her eyes towards one of her staff.

The men finally managed to bring the sign to the top floor, the elevator obviously wasn't an option. It was too big. Tammy came out of her office to inspect, they had left it outside her door. "Now, isn't this wonderful!" Tammy shouted as she examined the sign. It read: 'Welcome to Fabulous Tammy Tablot's Office' . "Ain't it just, just beautiful?" She asked, but not one had the guts to tell her it looked really tacky. Tammy grabbed the plug and attached it to an power outlet, she flicked the switch. All of a sudden, the lights on the sign lit up. Tammy's face lit up too.

She looked briefly into her office to see if there was any room to fit it. No, there wasn't really any room at all. The Mayor's Office was already filled with junk and memorabilia, collecting from her previous terms as Mayor and from her ex-husband. "Pity we can't fit it in the office, it'd look really snazzy in there, for sure." Everyone felt as though they were obliged to nod. "But this'll work, it can be outside my door, could make a real nice impact on our business partners before they walk in," Tammy said, talking really to no one and everyone at the same time. One of the men who moved the sign up to her office asked, "Who got you this?

"Who else but the casinos? Tammy explained, frankly. "It's a house-warming present after I won re-election. They're really good to me, I've got a good working relationship with the whole lot. They love me and I love them," she continued to ramble. "In fact, I went to the Strat's daughters wedding on Sunday. It was beautiful, wasn't in Las Vegas, though. I told them, many times, have it in Vegas! But no, they decided on L.A., of all places." The workers who dragged this up to her office were getting a little sick of standing there and hearing her talk. The decided to wrap things up and leave. Tammy wished them well and said goodbye, the staff gave them some Mentos on their way out.

July 2nd, 2019

Continuing her campaign for the Governorship, Dalton spent the day at Kentucky State University. There she took advantage of the large population of student activists and gave a series of lectures, townhalls and sessions with the student body and professors. These were open to everyone of course and some from the neighboring area came by to listen to her but the primary objective was to recruit student activists to bring her message to every corner of the state and potentially fundraise out of state. Anti-Corruption, Medicare Expansion, Teacher Pay.

In the county seat of Franklin Dalton gave a large pre fourth of July speech to thousands of people and supporters, their number buoyed with those looking for the traditional hot dogs and hamburgers of the holiday.





“Good Morning and God Bless!!! My friends, we are gathered here today to stand for decency, to stand for Kentucky Values of Faith, Hard Work, and Belief in a Better Future. We stand here today to say our conversations should not be about right versus left, but right versus wrong. We stand here today to say no more of the incompetent governorship of (Not Bevin), no more to corrupt swamp creatures like Tara Misra, and I am proud to stand among you as a proud citizen of Kentucky ready to fight!”

“We cannot afford 4 more years of an administration which will slash pensions, attack our teachers, takes away healthcare and ignores the real kitchen table issues that affect everyday Kentuckians, instead focusing on faking terror attacks and getting kicked out of the Wolf Cabinet. We have seen again and again (Not Bevin) make millions in cuts to our colleges, resort to name calling when our teachers asked for a pay increase, break our pension promises, and ignore the opioid crisis killing dozens people in our state every day and thousands. Misra is just going to continue all these policies and will represent no change in how things are run. It is going to be business as usual in Frankfort. (Not Bevin) has attacked Medicaid which provides affordable healthcare to half a million Kentuckians, then tried to roll back Medicare but failed because people like you MADE A STAND! Now like Wolf sent Misra packing out of his cabinet lets send her packing with this election.”

“All of this, all of the problems from this administration come from one root cause… a lack of empathy. (Not Bevin) and politicians like him… like Misra... do not see you, do not hear you, do not understand what it’s like to struggle to get by. Tara Misra cannot be trusted, she faked a terror attack, Wolf couldn’t trust her in his cabinet, he can’t trust her in the governor’s mansion.”

“My name is Michelle Dalton, my father abandoned me and my mom before I was born. My mother struggled working multiple jobs to make ends meet, I grew up in a trailer park or in the home of friends who took pity on us. Eventually we got out, but not without scars, ones I still have today. I know what its like to be lost, lonely, and left behind, stuck in poverty. I got help, I found faith, and I overcame it with the help of family, friends and God. But I will ALWAYS bear those scars, I will ALWAYS remember and I will ALWAYS hear you because of that. And I will always know just how lucky, how blessed, I was to escape poverty.”

“Today I have been reborn in faith, I have a beautiful family, I started a business that is a major success, and pays a fair wage, gives good benefits, and conducts itself with dignity. That is the American dream, a dream I want to put more in reach of the people of Kentucky.”

“Lets compare that to my opponent… Tara Misra. Misra spent most of the 2000s working for big business, helping lobbyist and making sure companies didn’t have to pay their fair share, or be accountable to the American people. She got elected to Congress and instead of going to work for the American people, she went to work for the Saudis, and when she was caught she decided to quit. The only thing of any consequence she did in the House of Representatives was quit in disgrace, she didn’t fight for the people of her district, her state, or her country, she fought for a Saudi Prince. After that she failed upwards, somehow made her way into a placeholder role as Secretary of Homeland Security until someone better could come along.”

“Once again, the only thing she did of note while in office was leave the office. President Wolf FIRED HER for faking a terrorist threat, undermining the credibility of his entire administration, undermining our response when real threats happen. For big business she lied and manipulated, for the Saudi’s she lied and manipulated, and for her own vanity she lied and manipulated. This is who now wants to be in the governor’s mansion.”

“Misra would be yet another unchecked, unaccountable Governor just like our current one. (Not Bevin) has been more concerned with attacking unions than improving the lives of our workers, Misra will be more concerned with annulling marriages and advancing herself than working for the people of the state. She will be just like (Not Bevin). Let me remind you of what Bevin has done, that unchecked, unaccountable governor…. Last year he cut workers comp, the only protection those injured on the job have… but that wasn’t enough, he created more barriers and bureaucratic hurdles to keep workers from getting the compensation they not only deserve but desperately need to put food on the table for their families. Last year he tried to repeal the Kentucky Performance Bond, that protects blue collar workers from bankruptcy. His job number one has been hurting working people, as governor my number one job will be improving their lives.”

“He made a 40% cut in unemployment benefits, which helps our people in times of hardship, that got so many families through the recession. Everywhere you look, cuts to the vital services and benefits the people of the state rely on. What do we get in return? No great savings or lower taxes, heck the state tax exemption was lowered by $10,000 and our retirees had their bill go up by $500 a year. That’s not a tax break.”

“(Not Bevin) repealed the prevailing wage, lowered blue collar pay and reduced the standard of living for thousands in our state. Every day we see the results in a skilled trades shortage that effects our government, schools, and businesses, thats what happens when you lower wages, remove, benefits and safety protections, people leave and people suffer. Too many in the state have been left behind, so its time to take a stand. Lets say no to corrupt and self serving swamp creatures like (Not Bevin) and (Not Bevin) 2.0 Tara Misra.”

“(Not Bevin) doesn’t understand the Pensions are Promises, our pensions system is $43 billion in debt, and in the past for years (Not Bevin)has only allowed it to get worse, he has continued to double down on the anti-blue collar policies that aren’t giving us a chance to succeed. Anyone who works hard their wholes lives deserves to be able to retire with the dignity promised to them.”

“When our teachers made a stand to protest some of the lowest pay in the country (Not Bevin) resorted to name calling, just like Tara Misra, to attacking the people who educate our children instead of attacking the problem. As Governor my number 1 priority will be education. Quality education, invested and motivated teachers can put our children AND our economy on the right path. Not committing to education,continuing to have among the lowest teacher pay in the country, not investing in children, puts our state on a downward slope. We need to commit to creating a world class education and a guaranteed retirement for teachers.”

“In this election you can choose to vote for Misra and four more years of declining coal country, (Not Bevin) and 4 more years of failing rural healthcare, Misra and four more years of underperforming schools, Misra and 4 more year of slashing pensions. Or you can vote FOR THE PEOPLE OF KENTUCKY! (Not Bevin) has attacked minorities, immigrants, refugees, teachers, blue collar workers, and if you do not speak up at the voting booth, I promise Misra will not speak up for you. So when it comes to election day, don’t vote left or right, vote for the people of Kentucky.”

“But I don’t just want to focus on (Not Bevin) or Misra, I want to talk about where our state needs to go instead. On day one of office as Governor I will issue 3 executive orders; the first to increase transparency in Government because the doors of the Capital should ALWAYS be open, the second to restore voting rights to those who have finished serving their time for non-violent felonies, over 100,000 people, and the thirdly to protect Medicaid from the attempts to slash it by rescinding the Medicaid waiver.”

“I support protecting and fulfilling our pension obligations. A Pension is a promise, and leaving it $43 billion in debt is just plain wrong. That’s why I support the expansion of gaming and the legalization of Medical Marijuana in our state. The revenue gained from taxes on Medical Marijuana and gaming will go into a lock box that will exclusively fund our pension system.”

“I support a pay raise for teachers, $2,000 a year across the board… but that’s not enough we need a brand new board of education, reform from the top down to attract the best and brightest educators to the state, create better facilities for learning and engage parents to support the education of their children. Education is my number one priority, because I have kids too and I know the single best path for success in life is through a good education. It’s an old cliche but education truly is the silver bullet which lets us tackle all the other problems in society.”

“That is how we ensure good jobs in every community, education and forward thinking policies… Its not enough to protect the jobs we already have, we need to get ready for the jobs of the future. We have seen manufacturing jobs under (Not Bevin) disappear while they strengthen across the country. We need more advanced manufacturing jobs and to invest in areas like Agritech and Clean Coal which we can become the national leaders in. We do this through workforce training, targeted towards the most in demand skills. We must invest in PEOPLE not in the big businesses and corporate interests (Not Bevin) is beholden to.”

“Healthcare is a Human Right. After we rescind the Medicaid request of (Not Bevin) we must move forward by first lowering the cost of prescription drugs. We must cap the cost of prescriptions and increase competition in the field to lower costs across the board. We will protect those with Pre-Existing Conditions! And ensure everyone has access to the care they need!”

“A scourge that affects too many in our state is the Opioid crisis. I am incredibly proud of the work our Attorney General has done in going after the companies responsible for addicting millions in the country. As Governor not only will he have my full support but I will double the investment in treating those addicting and making efforts to ensure this never happens again. We are going to open another 10 treatment centers across the state just to start!”

“This year you have a decision to make, not right versus left but right versus wrong. A decision to stand by Kentucky values of Faith, Hard Work, and a Belief in a Better Future, those so vital to our success. A decision about respect and dignity, about promises and the kind of opportunity you want for your children, about the right to retire and have a job to take pride in. What kind of Commonwealth do you want to be? What kind of history do you want to make? A Commonwealth that leads the country, or lags behind?”

“Our Commonwealth is more than just a spot on the map, it is an idea, it is a promise, to work for the common good of all people. Bridgeport
July 4th, 2019

The 4th of July was spent in Bridgeport where her campaign organized a 4th of July cookoff. It was apolitical on paper, with Dalton and her campaign greatly subsidizing the food drink and games so it was in fact the cheapest 4th of July celebration in the state. They had games and fireworks, a great patriotic feel among the crowd. Dalton gave an apolitical speech about the greatest of America and all they had been able to achieve. She never mentioned her campaign but a few plants in the crowds throughout the day kept whispering about what a great governor she would be, and Dalton herself spent the whole day mingling with the common people, eating hot dogs and conversing.

July 5th, 2019

Jett was barely a blip on the map but it was still one part in the fabric of the Dalton campaign. She visited Golf Courses and parks nearby, 8 different restaurants where she spoke with the management and the workers about what she would do for the local economy, from Buffalo WildWings to the Cattleman’s Roadhouse where she got a good photo-op with a prime cut steak. Following this she did a small rally in a nearby mall parking lot, giving her stump speech and then set about meeting people in the parking lot and going door to door in the community.

“How ‘bout this Nate? I’ll tell you the specifics, exactly the way I told them to my lawyer. Then you can decide if you think it’s something we should go public with.”

Mark smiled. Richardson seemed like an okay guy. He might be a mushy moderate, but he was respectful and kind.

“So first, before anything, you should know that I am one of America’s leading weapons experts. I was a highly trained sniper in Vietnam, I’ve competed in the Olympics for shooting, and I teach gun safety all over Texas. So that narrative is needed if we want to make sure they don’t make me out to be some Porterite in a bunker somewhere. I’m a regular guy, a ‘Nam vet, and a dad!”

“But yeah, so anyway, I am an FFL dealer. Federal Firearms License, it means that I can sell NFA weapons and sell weapons to the police and law enforcement and stuff. A lot of the border towns in Texas buy heavy arms from me, it’s part of how I managed to expand the business, you don’t make a ton from the markup on civilian guns but you can make a killing on local government contracts!”

“So those two guns were supposed to go to the Laredo PD, one MP5 for close combat against cartels, one M4 Carbine with a grenade launcher for holding down the border.”

“The evidence they have on me is this: the licensing, permits, everything says those specific guns, with those serial numbers, are owned by the Laredo PD.”

“Here’s where it gets tricky. I had a secure shipping service take these guns down with a larger shipment to Laredo, and they refused these two weapons because the boxes they were in had puncture holes from a forklift. Now usually, I make the shipments myself, and I would have just taken the guns out of the box, showed the cops that the guns were okay, and they would have accepted them. But instead, they refused them and the shipping company dropped the guns at my house.”

They already had a warrant though! I don’t know how the hell you get probable cause from an anonymous tip, but they somehow got a warrant for a search. They ransacked my office, they found nothing, but they acted real serious with me, I mean, I’m usually friendly with law enforcement, most of ‘em are fellow vets. But these fellas were brutal.”

“But then they found the guns and sat me down at the table for 20 minutes askin’ why I would have guns I intended to sell in my house. They acted like I was some sort of terrorist, they asked me all the questions about Vietnam, and if I was a racist, and if I hated the government, and I answered very honestly. Well except the government part, I said I didn’t hate the government, which is kinda a half truth cuz I love the military but hate the bureaucrats. I gave them my story, but they would listen, they just handcuffed me and shipped me up to San Antone.”

“So first, before anything, you should know that I am one of America’s leading weapons experts. I was a highly trained sniper in Vietnam, I’ve competed in the Olympics for shooting, and I teach gun safety all over Texas. So that narrative is needed if we want to make sure they don’t make me out to be some Porterite in a bunker somewhere. I’m a regular guy, a ‘Nam vet, and a dad!”

“But yeah, so anyway, I am an FFL dealer. Federal Firearms License, it means that I can sell NFA weapons and sell weapons to the police and law enforcement and stuff. A lot of the border towns in Texas buy heavy arms from me, it’s part of how I managed to expand the business, you don’t make a ton from the markup on civilian guns but you can make a killing on local government contracts!”

“So those two guns were supposed to go to the Laredo PD, one MP5 for close combat against cartels, one M4 Carbine with a grenade launcher for holding down the border.”

“The evidence they have on me is this: the licensing, permits, everything says those specific guns, with those serial numbers, are owned by the Laredo PD.”

“Here’s where it gets tricky. I had a secure shipping service take these guns down with a larger shipment to Laredo, and they refused these two weapons because the boxes they were in had puncture holes from a forklift. Now usually, I make the shipments myself, and I would have just taken the guns out of the box, showed the cops that the guns were okay, and they would have accepted them. But instead, they refused them and the shipping company dropped the guns at my house.”
