Diehl Ranch
North Dakota

It was a simple tweet but the message it underscored was simple: Levi Murphy had strengthened his political capital in a victory here and if he won, even Vinnie was willing to lend him his support to an extent. But the establishment was in no rush to worry yet. They would continue to remain out of it as the race continued onwards. He thought about calling the Senator but thought that might seem like a preemptive strike and it would surely go to his head. So putting down the phone, Diehl went out back to put on his hiking boots.

Congratulations to Senator Levi Murphy. It is clear his message resounded with the people of Iowa, much like the message that President Baharia and I delivered. But this race isn't over yet. Good luck to all the candidates and to my fellow Americans, remember to #KeepTheFaith.

The Speech in Des Moines

Jillian was in a waiting room which led into the main amphitheater. Her husband and three kids were with her as they'd watched the returns quietly on their phones from the "target" caucus site. Liam gripped her hand firmly as she reviewed her remarks. She'd tweeted a congratulatory tweet. Then, the doors opened and she walked through out, waving to the crowds amassed and smiling widely as she and her family approached the stage. She shook Tim Westra's hand firmly, leaning in and giving him a sincere, "thank you, Tim."

The cameras would capture that warm hug and it would be up there next to Dayton on the podium for the press. Then she stepped up on stage. With her family flanking her she spoke.

My, my, what a night. Iowa has caucused and the results did not land in our favor. Yet, a campaign that began at a Norfolk kitchen table, has scored more than one-third of Iowans support and for that we can all be incredibly proud. We look to New Hampshire with excitement and anticipation, and together we continue this fight. The light on the hill does not dim, the fight for fair does not end until every primary, every caucus, is held. A year ago the cynics said we would never move above single digits, tonight you've proven them wrong. Yet the cynics still say that our fight does not resonate, that fighting for the working American family isn't a fight worth having, well my friends we have another fifty-five contests to go and we're only just getting started yet. To my supporters across the country, keep the faith, we will win in New Hampshire, we will win in Nevada, we will in South Carolina, we will on Super Tuesday, and beyond. To the volunteers and supporters in the room, you spent a year canvassing Iowa top to bottom and the fruit of your work is exceptional. Friends, eat, drink, celebrate and commiserate for tomorrow, tomorrow is when the fight really begins.

She stepped down and began talking to supporters, gravitating gradually towards one supporter in particular: Tim Westra.

Across the Nation, Likely Democratic Primary Voters Online & TV

Only one candidate in this race has as history of delivering on what they're saying.

He doesn't...

...he also doesn't...

...but she does...

...vote for someone who delivers. Vote for Jillian Dayton as our next President.

Vote for me because few other candidates can lay claim to having passed Medicaid expansions, tax reform, public transport bolstering and a college plan as ambitious as mine and lay out a roadmap for how we empower working Americans once again, raise wages for millions and end poverty. My name is Jillian Dayton and only together, can we deliver on making America fairer for us all.

Outside, a gentle flurry blew in from Lake Erie. Hitchhiking onto Richardson's victory in Iowa to start his campaign, Paul felt confident that whomever won the primaries would win the General, but he couldn't be sure. Out on stage, a podium stood with a large flag behind it. Earlier that day he spent some time riding around Cleveland, stopping at several bars and diners to greet potential voters. Hopeful that Senator Hawthorne's legacy wouldn't stain his campaign, he stepped out on stage. Thundering applause ensued as he took the podium.

"Howdy, Cleveland!! I'd like to thank all of you for coming tonight. I'd like to start by thanking my campaign staff, my family, and all those who've supported me over the years. I've been around for a long time, and I'm going to tell you; there's a lot of fixing up to do down in Washington. Our family, our friends, and our great state is under attack. Democrats want to raise your taxes, take your guns, and let any Joe, Jim, or Bob who feels like it cross the southern border! They want to ship our jobs to Mexico and China, and let radical socialists like Not-AOC take over the United States. We need to act. We can't bring ourselves down to their level, as some of my Republican colleagues have done. The name-calling, mud-throwing, foot-scraping political landscape of the last few years has to end. For the good of the American people, we've got to return to the days when people of different ideologies could sit at the dinner table and not bring up who said this and who did that. Just turning on the morning news makes any decent American want to throw up their breakfast.

Friends, I'm not going to sit here and act like the world's gonna be perfect. It never was and never will be. What I can tell you, is that if Democrats take control of the Senate this November, alongside the house and possibly even the White House, this country will be on a much worse track than we are now. Amnesty for illegal immigrants, which will flood the country with fresh, new, Democratic voters that will help Karel Volek and Caroline Simone rule as dictators indefinitely. Not to mention their views on taxes. Radicals like Levi Murphy want to RAISE taxes and reverse President Wolf's tax cuts, which benefited Ohio so much! Ever wonder why people are leaving New York and California in droves? Taxes. Taxes. Taxes. It makes you wonder why the Democrats hate the middle class so much. Some have come out and LITERALLY said "Your taxes will be raised."! They'll go up, up, up and never come down. They need more tax money to fund their ridiculous, communist Green New Deal which would WIPE OUT manufacturing jobs and our great energy systems just because they believe the delusion that climate change is caused by humans. Believe me, I'm not a climate change denier - in fact, I'm strongly in favor of keeping climate change under control, however I believe climate change is caused by natural occurrences. I'm sure that comment right there'll be taken out of context in a Bernie Porter ad. But we're not going to get into that, folks.

Again, I'd like to thank you all for coming. We're charging full speed ahead, and we're gonna cross that finish line in November and make it to the United States Senate! (Applause ensues)

-- Now folks, any questions?"

Rodman took a sip of water. Behind him, the American flag was rolled away to reveal a campaign logo. He smiled, and awaited questions.

Paul Rodman
2020 Senate Campaign
Antwerp, Ohio

Rodman stepped out of the shiny black Suburban, and onto the grassy patch of land set aside for his speech. Today's event, while it was going to be very short, was to be the first of many in his blitz in the more rural regions of the state. He figured he'd tackle them first as they'd be the most likely to go for him on Election Night, and he'd work his way towards the suburbs as the campaign moved on. His "stage", if you could call it that, was the bed of an old, rusted out 50's pickup truck. Call it cliche, but he felt it would work. After all, his manager told him to get out and campaign here last minute.

"Hello Paulding County!" - he paused as some clapping and hollering spilled from the small crowd. "Beautiful day out here in northwest Ohio. I'd like you to take a moment to think about how much you, yourself, love America. It's okay! Be honest, actually ask yourself the question "Do I love America?". There's one conclusion that we can already draw before answering; Democrats don't. No matter how much they tell you they're doing it for America. Doing it for the kids. For the future. However many times they try and spit on the American flag, this election day we must tell them that it won't work! We simply can't allow them to spit and stomp on the American flag like it's some useless prop. Yet, Republicans in Washington seem to think it's alright!

We've got to get things done in Washington, but we can't with Democrats in control of the House, the senate, or god forbid the Presidency. Democrats want to take away your second amendment rights, strip the border from all it's defenses, and turn America into one giant California! I SERIOUSLY doubt that you folks want Antwerp, Ohio to become California!" - he pauses as the crowd cheers. "We've got to win in November so we can paint America in a new light; a fresh, forward-reaching light. A unifying light. A bipartisan light, and most importantly an American Light! We can't let our basic freedoms be stripped away, but nor can we become partisan hacks who only care about themselves. Think about that the next time you watch the news. Thank You, and I'll certainly be back soon!"

He waved for a moment at the crowd, before getting back into the car and speeding off toward the next stop.

ELISA HIDALGO CAMPAIGN LAUNCH
DENVER, COLORADO
FEBRUARY 1ST, 2020

After months of hard preparation, setting up campaign officers and hiring staff, Hidalgo was ready to officially jump into the race for Colorado Senate. Denver was a natural place to hold her announcement rally, being her hometown and all. The home crowd loved her, of course, and it was a bastion of voters who she could easily appeal to and get out to the polls. with the paperwork already filed, all that was left to do was kick things off. Hidalgo smiled warmly as she passed by a crowd of cheering supporters, laughing a bit as she took her place at the podium and waited for her supporters to quiet down.

"Hello! Hi! Thanks to all of you for being here tonight, first off. I want to thank my husband Jace for standing by my side throughout this journey. Without this man right here, I wouldn't have nearly as much motivation to help bring needed reform to Colorado. I also especially want to thank my beautiful young daughter. Charlotte is who I am fighting for today. She and all of the little girls out there who deserve better than the pay-to-play politics we have running this country now are who I'm fighting for.

Folks, we've made fantastic progress in Colorado these past few years. The work we've done for the common people of Colorado cannot be overstated. We've successfully passed a raise in the minimum wage, we've gotten to work on a greener economy and have begun combating climate change, we've cut down the cost of college tuition and ensured that young bright minds don't have to be crushed by student debt. We are bringing true progressive change to Colorado, and I just wish I could say the same nationally. Arnold Wolf and his Republican cronies have thrown the American people under the bus at every opportunity. Tax cuts for the ultra-rich, trying to take away healthcare from tens of millions of Americans including many Coloradans, attacking a woman's basic right to choose, allowing big corporations to expand their pollution of the world, the list goes on and it is a horrible list to look at.

And let's hold accountable those who are enabling this sort of destructive politics: Senator Guerrera has repeatedly supported Arnold Wolf in his submission to the wealthiest. He has gone against Colorado's own values for the sake of pleasing the leaders of a party that proudly bows before the NRA and corporate lobbyists. In fact, he's been caught in the act! He was outright exposed as Mayor for taking corporate bribes in exchange for cutting regulations! That's a classic case of the corruption that has been preventing us from making any change to benefit ordinary people! Quite frankly, I've had enough of it, and I believe Colorado is done with it too! I have spent my whole life fighting for the working people of this state and against the pay-to-play corruption that has pinned our democracy to the ground! That is why I am running to defeat Clint Guerrera and be your next United States Senator!

Personally, I believe it's about time we started having regular people representing us again! One of the reasons that I believe myself to be the best candidate for the job is because I understand you. I am one of you. I wasn't born into a wealthy family or was fortunate enough to land a gig with a big corporation. I am the daughter of poor immigrants who came here from Mexico with nothing but hope in the American Dream. I worked in my youth going paycheck to paycheck to be able to afford to go to college right here in Denver, and I struggled through poverty, racism, and sexism to against all odds make it to the Colorado State Senate, where I have never forgotten my roots, and I have done everything I can to ensure that no more Coloradans have to struggle through crippling poverty with no one there to support them! So I think that that is the kind of behavior we need in a United States Senator, and I promise to prioritize you, the people, over the mega-corporations and lobbyists that too many of our elected officials practically worship!

Pay-to-play politics has devastated our system, and the people are paying the price for it! While Republicans proudly flaunt their tax breaks for the super-rich, wages remain stagnant, student debt continues to get worse, and Coloradans across the state are witness the complete collapse of the middle-class! I for one have had more than enough of this, and Colorado has had enough too! As Senator, I will support and lead efforts to ban former members of Congress from lobbying, minimize the power of Super PACs, reform the FEC so it can start actually enforcing campaign finance laws again, and create a constitutional amendment to overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision and make it clear that money is not speech and a few wealthy billionaires should not have more of a say than millions of Americans!

And along with that, we will finally take action to protect working-class people in this state! For too long now the richest in this country have continued to see rising profits while the working people have only fallen deeper and deeper into poverty! So we will take action to raise the minimum wage to 15 bucks an hour, ensure equal pay for equal work, strengthen collective bargaining and hold big corporations accountable for when they exploit and harm their workers! We've done that here in Colorado and we can do it in the United States Senate! And along with all of that, we will fight for families in this state who are struggling to make ends meet! Paid family leave has bipartisan support in this country and it is about damn time we passed it so families can raise their kids without risking their livelihoods! And I also support and will fight to pass a universal basic income to ensure that no Coloradan has to suffer through poverty alone! Just imagine what a thousand dollars a month could do for your family.

And just imagine what create millions of new green energy jobs could do for the environment and the economy. The science has made it clear that climate change is real and it is man-made, and yet Republicans like Guerrera refuse to take action before it is too late! They have put themselves in the pocket of the fossil fuel industry and allowed them to continue harming our planet! They won't do anything about it, so we will! A Senator Hidalgo will back legislation to cut down on carbon emissions and create new green jobs that will strengthen our economy and protect our planet! And I promise to you that I will not let a single fossil fuel worker get left behind in the process!

Republicans like Wolf, like Tawney, like Guerrera, they want to build more walls. They want to divide us and misdirect us while they enrich themselves with their corruption. Guerrera claims that he puts Colorado before his party, and he puts the American people before his political career. Well, where was he when Arnold Wolf was putting kids in cages?! Where was he when he called Mexicans rapists and drug dealers?! My message to immigrants in this country and this state is this: as the daughter of two immigrants who came to this country with nothing, I stand with you, and I will fight for you. I will fight for every Coloradan who has been suffering under the iron fist of radical Wolf-Guerrera Republican policies! I will fight for every man and woman who has been left behind! I will fight for everyone no matter their gender, their race, their sexuality, or their background! Now that is the kind of Senator we need representing Colorado right now! Denver, Colorado, let's do this! God bless you! Thank you!"

I just started watching this show called The Crown, you can find it on Netflex or whatever it is, very good show about the QOE and her family, my grandpappy used to tell me, we got royal blood going back to the early Kings of Europe. Does Mr. Martin Spellman have any new films coming out? I didn't see anything about that in his emails, just checking.

Now, I know that I may have ruffled some feathers by endorsing Mr. Clay, but let me tell you Howard, the Republican party looks and feels like its going to crack soon and it would be a great help if you could put down politics and endorse me because of my policy views. I also want it to be known that my run is ok with the party in general."

Hypolite cleared his throat

Howard held the phone in his right hand and smacked the beer in his left gently at the top into the edge of the table, dislodging it's cap and smiled very satisfied with his one handed uncapping, "and what exactly do you propose I get from endorsing you Mister Gaspard?"

"Well, if you endorse me, and your son wins, he'll have an ally and a 'guardian' of sorts. I can also assure you, I ain't saying jack shit about that Texas race no more. Also, since you're retiring, any bill that you wanted to introduce or pass, I'll do it for you, if and when I get to the senate. If you have any requests, within reason, I'll try my best."

"The Republican Primary field hasn't been formed yet, I'd like to see your competitors before I consider jumping in," Howard replied, Maria turning and frowning to which Howard mouthed it's Hippie.

"Alright, with the jungle primary, you might have to choose between two or three of us Republicans if not more, but I respect your decision. I'll let you go, give my best wishes to your wife. You have my number, call me if anything changes or you need anything, y'hear? Bye Bye."

He pressed end call and turned, "thank god I'm not charged with whipping his vote."

Maria laughed as Howard took his seat back.

Democratic Leader’s Suite, the Capitol Building

Karel once again decided to make a call at a very early stage of a campaign.

Texas would be a moonshot... the perfect candidate had to come along in order to give the Democrat a chance at victory.

But Colorado? Colorado was a must-win.

And so here he was, reaching out to another scrappy candidate.

He dialed the phone number provided by one of his aides, and waited for a response.

An aide to Hidalgo answered the phone. He immediately gave her the phone after hearing who was on the line.

"Hello, Senator Volek. This is Elisa Hidalgo speaking." She answered curiously.

I don’t know where you’d rather have me campaign.”

"I think the consensus is we need your strength in Nevada, we have to prevent Velez from knocking us below second and undercut Levi, I'll be camping out in New Hampshire, hopping back and forth between it and South Carolina at this rate," she nodded appreciatively.

"Gotcha. I'll get my team to redirect my flight plans to Las Vegas instead. Ok Jill, I don't want to keep you from the volunteers and the press. Hope you get some rest, and good luck on the trail. I think you're gonna bring this home."

“Hello. I wouldn’t ordinarily reach out to a Senate candidate this early, but Colorado is a must-win state for us. Assuming that you’ll be able to make it to the general unopposed, you’re the woman of the hour. I’ve read up on what you hope to achieve if you win, but I want to hear a bit about your strategy and about your views on reform versus.. well, let’s call it something stronger than reform.”

Senator Clint Guerrera
@ColoradoClint

Elisa Hidalgo is of a dangerous dispotion and ideology and unfit to be Colorado's representative in the United States Senate. I am proud to speak to you all as the descendant of Mexican immigrants, a successful businessman, and an advocate for Colorado over the past six years. I know how to score victory after victory for our state. No one else in this race can bring that experience
