@JillianDayton in Iowa today: "Vote for me because few other candidates can lay claim to having passed Medicaid expansions, tax reform, public transport bolstering and a college plan as ambitious as mine and lay out a roadmap for how we empower working Americans once again, raise wages for millions and end poverty."

Strongest closing argument I've seen in a while. Don't vote for Jillian because she's a woman, or because someone told you to. Vote for her because she's won progressive change before, and she'll win it again.

Congratulations to #TeamLevi, we triumphed in Iowa and unlike 2016, there was no close margin this time around. It was a decisive victory and serves as a reminder of who the Democratic Party should represent: the working class.

I didn't speak a single word in that ad. If Richardson was such a conservative, why did he get receive a primary challenge from his own Lieutenant Governor after vetoing a bill to stop paedophile transsexuals in public bathrooms?

If you have an available moment, I would like to discuss your political positions and what you plan to do if elected to the United States Senate. As you know, we must hold that seat and I want to know if you are the best candidate to carry forward Arnold Wolf's Make America Great Again agenda. I believe that you are, but I want to confirm this through an intelligent conversation. It appears that Crawford Clay has made some disgraceful pamphlets reminiscent of the attacks made on Wolf four years ago. This is absolutely unacceptable. Joe Frankston appears to expect to be handed the Senate seat, witch is also disgraceful. You appear to have the best shot at winning. I could help you in numerous ways. I have a large network of contacts, the Omaha financial community, classmates from the University of Chicago, and fellow owners of Major League Baseball and other sports franchises. Those could all be working for you if I give the word. I could reach out to other governors, including (Not-Greg Abbot). This could be our chance to secure the Wolf legacy. Call me when you can.
Randy Cramp called the Governor.

Tim grimaced as he looked at the Iowa results on his phone. He opened the door of the car that had driven him to Dayton HQ, where he walked by reporters, several of whom flocked over to him as they caught sight of his car.

He wasn't sure how the Dayton camp was taking this...it was good news and bad news. Good news, she had outperformed polling and kept it closer than Baharia's win in 2008 over Clifford. Bad news, Levi was predictably getting good press. He briefly slowed his walk and turned to some of the reporters
Senator Westra, do you have any comment about the results tonight?
"I congratulate my friend and colleague Levi Murphy, this is a well-earned and well-deserved result for him."
Any news from the Dayton camp?
"No, I'm not an official advisor or anything, I'm here at HQ to meet with volunteers and supporters to thank them. She's outperformed polling, her chances in New Hampshire are solid, if I was her team I would be feeling good right now. But that's just my take, don't want to put words in her mouth, let's wait for her speech. That's all from me folks, good night."
With that, Tim ignored the barrage of additional questions and entered the building, where crowds of supporters and volunteers were gathered to watch the results live. He was met with some smiles as he shook hands, took some selfies, and thanked them for their help in getting Jillian to this stage. This was not a result that had caught anyone by surprise.
The candidate herself, obviously, was nowhere to be seen at the moment, probably busy preparing concession remarks elsewhere. Still, he shook hands with some of her senior staffers and advisors, with whom he'd been in frequent contact, and informed them that this was a result they had every reason to be moderately pleased about.

RICHARDSON TAKES IOWA
PORTER TAKES SECOND PLACE
By Hugh Rection and Sarah Rodham
February 3, 2020
BREAKING - Governor Nathaniel Richardson has taken a majority of delegates in Iowa. In a hard-fought battle deciding who would replace President Wolf, Republicans made their choice today, overwhelmingly voting for Governor Nathaniel Richardson of North Carolina. Former Secretary of Defense Bernard Porter has also won big tonight, coming out of Iowa better than he went in. He has clutched enough delegates to remain in a strong position.
Governor Richardson was one of the first people to enter the race to succeed President Wolf in early 2019, and it has certainly paid off, with Richardson winning with a large majority in Warren County, Jasper County and Clarke County. He was also a clear hit with the Republican women in the suburbs of Des Moines, showing his favorability with women. The majority of the northern counties were also swept by Richardson, but really no surprise there since Governor Richardson made an effort to visit the counties. Former Iowa Governor Dunn can be attributed to some of Richardson's success in the state.
One of the bigger shocks, however, was Secretary Porter's overperformance with college Republicans. College Communities in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids overwhelmingly supported voted in support of Secretary Porter. Secretary Porter has also carried rural counties in Iowa and was clearly a hit with farmers and labourers when he was out on the campaign trail. Porter also swept the South and Western counties of the state, which likely saved him from being dominated by Governor Richardson.
Iowa is one of those states that prefer to have politicians on the ground and talking to actual people, instead of doing a mass media campaign and it was clear that both candidates knew this. Both candidates have been visiting the state since they announced in 2019, with both attending the Iowa State Fair and meeting with the locals. Both the Porter and Richardson Campaigns had consistency when they visiting the states, making sure they didn't just campaign in the big cities of Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. With both Secretary Porter and Governor Richardson both actively visiting all corners of the state, it was clear from the beginning that this was not going to be as clear cut as some expected or hoped.
As the dust settles over Iowa, all eyes are now on New Hampshire with its primary happening next week. While Richardson may look like he's in a better position, it is clear from tonight's results that it is anyone's game.
Governor Nathaniel Richardson: 59.6% (24 Delegates)
Secretary Bernard Porter: 40.3% (16 Delegates)
Other: 0.1%

Hello Iowa!!!! It has been an absolutely incredible night to be sure, but that’s no surprise because you have made every day these past few nights incredible. Thank you all, thank you for your hard work and dedication, for every step walked, flyer mailed, phone call made or text sent and for the countless small conversations between friends and neighbors that made this victory possible. From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my family and my entire campaign team… thank you. I thank God every night for this incredible army of supporters.
Tonight is a victory for Conservatives across Iowa and across the country…. For those fighting for innovative solutions to big problems, those fighting for working families and conservative principles, for those fighting to send their kids to a better school, for those struggling against the liberal elite to live according to their faith, for those seeking to make their small business that much better, for those seeking to fight against the tyranny again communist china, and those seeking to protect the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that this country was founded on.
Tonight is a victory for those who watch in despair as the limousine liberals in Washington continue to deliver for special interest groups and those in DC, New York and Silicon Valley but not on main street. To the people of Iowa and America as a whole, I hear you, I will listen and I will deliver. I will not allow the liberal elite to take us back to the (Not Obama) years, years of stagnation and weakness, bowing to Russia and China as they impose themselves on the world, keeping the job market weak and wages down as they allow in thousands of illegal immigrants with no checks or care.
I know some people tonight might be watching me for the first time, so let me tell you what I stand for...I stand for results, if something is broken I fix it, if it works I double down on it. As Governor I have balanced the budget, cut taxes, brought in jobs, lowered healthcare costs, grew wages, cut unemployment in half and improved education. North Carolina like every state struggles, we have our own challenges… Unemployment, quality of education, poverty, I have worked every day in and out to try and improve the lives of the American people, and by every metric we have made them better. That is why I am running for President, because its the best way I can serve, how I can make the biggest impact on the most people, I am first and foremost a grateful American just looking to give back.
I stand for the Americans struggling to be heard and respected in today’s world. I hear you, you demand excellence. Not just a continuation of the fantastic Wolf-Tawney administration but taking those next steps to a New Prosperity. Creating more opportunities for the people who need it most, who have been suffering in the dark. For too many the American Dream and the American Reality are too far removed, whether it's from the scourge of the opioid epidemic, violent crime, bad schools, too few jobs, too low wages, or countless other barriers, the American dream is out of reach. But we can change that, our party can recommit itself to working families and working people, expanding the middle class, strengthening our investment in our families and children, and setting ourselves on a righteous task to lead the world in every field.
We can bring back jobs from overseas and create new jobs in the most in demand markets, we can make housing more affordable and create more affordable options for healthcare. We can invest in our nation's infrastructure, not just roads and bridges but rural broadband and 5G. We can give our small businesses a much needed boost while holding big business and monopolies in big tech accountable. We can protect life and religious freedom across the nation and for generations to come! I will not let the American people be ignored in Washington any longer!
These goals and these methods reflect what the true priorities of the Republican party should be. We are not at our core a party whose focus is solely on corporate tax cuts, we are a party of working families and American principles. We are not a party that should allow companies to ship jobs overseas so that Silicon Valley and Wall Street can prosper. And we are certainly not a party that will stay silent as the Left and the elite wants to erode our American values. We will not stay silent as the left infringes on our right to conscience and to live according to our beliefs. We will not stay silent as the unborn are killed without mercy. We will not stay silent as the left seeks to open our borders to millions of low skill workers so they can save a buck while American citizens are forced onto welfare. We are not the party that will stay silent as college students looking to get an education find it ruinously expensive and are saddled with impossible debt. We are not a party that will stay silent as the rich and powerful get all the attention and support while working families and those trying to get good jobs don’t get support. We are not the party that will stay silent while parents are looking for help with the cost of raising children. We are not the party that will stay silent as communities seek to rebuild after economic devastation or the plague of addiction.
I am a Republican, a Conservative because I trust the individual American citizen more than I trust someone in Washington. I am a Conservative because I trust that I know what is better for the education of my child, because I trust that I know how to best spend my own money, because I trust myself to make the best decisions for my own future. Democrats do not trust the American people! So let me ask you, do you want to go forward or back?
The GOP, the Republican Party must renew itself as it did in the days of Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Eisenhower and Reagan. These Presidents, these leaders did not so much transform the Republican Party but renew it and refocus it, this is the path President Wolf set us on and now we must finish his work. Our top priority must be a working class agenda, one that reaches beyond racial and ethnic bounds, that rejects the politics of division and resentment personified by radicals on the Left. This agenda unites rural and working class voters with white collar suburbanites against the elite, it is an agenda that builds the middle class and creates upward mobility. We must unite our strong moral values and principles with hard work and a vision for the future that celebrates the dynamics of American life.
“Our mission, our target.... It is a mission the Republican Party has been pursuing since the 1850s, securing the blessings of liberty, protecting freedom and ensuring economic prosperity for all people. I hear the democratic rhetoric today, they see an America in decline, an America founded on rotten principles. I say that America was founded on liberty and good principles, it acknowledged its flaws and gave future generations the tools to make a more perfect union and improve upon it. I say America was founded on idealism and principles that we as a nation have not always lived up to, but we can always do better.”
You know I was asked the other day if I was tired, and you know this campaign is 16-18 hour days, 6 or 7 days a week, some good days some bad. But any time I got discouraged or felt the exhaustion I thought of the thousands of volunteers who fight for my campaign, every second of every day someone is working hard to get me elected, because they believe in the message of creating a New Prosperity, a renewed Republican Party, a reinvigorated country, and I find myself re-energized to get to work once again. I am not tired of this fight because you’re not tired!
I’m not tired, I am inspired. Inspired by volunteers like Joshua Gaze who is studying at the University of Iowa, giving his free time to my campaign. Families like the Millers in Woodbury county who donated $25 last night, to a 14 year old girl named Melissa who made hundreds of calls alongside her mother this week from our campaign HQ. I am inspired by our Iowa Campaign Manage Carole West! And our deputy campaign manager Ernest Fields! They spent countless sleepless nights making this happen. I am inspired by the advice from Marta Cook, Jael Blackburn and Andy Barrett who helped us reach the people who needed to hear our message the most. I am inspired by Pablo Lopez who organized the incredible efforts of our volunteers, I am inspired by William Barnes who made sure that we always had the money to keep our campaign rolling, and I am inspired by Morgan Bell and Tricia Fletcher who did such an extraordinary job handling press and communications. I am inspired by Governor Dunn and Reverend Dunn, two incredible people who I am blessed to call my friends, without whom we could have never done this. Let us all give glory to God and thank him for this night.
We are not done. We have plenty of Primary left to go and I still need your support, America needs your support. So to those watching tonight that voted for me, that worked for me, that support me in any way… please keep fighting.... To those who voted for someone else… thank you for doing your part in making this country better, in moving us forward. I will listen to your voice, I will hear you and while I hope that one day I earn your support… even if I don’t I will not leave you behind.
Before I end tonight and fly off to New Hampshire to continue our fight for the nomination, let me thank two more people.... My parents. Because of the sacrifices my parents made, because of the chances they took, all their kids went and got an education, we followed our own dreams, we have our own children and that is the work ethic they instilled in us. There wasn’t a single day that it was easy, there wasn’t a single day my parents didn’t put everything they had into making their business a success. All that hard work gave them a beautiful life that could only happen in America, the greatest country in the world. That’s a dream I share, to give a better life to my daughter, for all our children. Now, their son is proud to be running for the Presidency of the United States! Let’s stand up for America and push the country forward!!!
That is my mission, to keep our country moving forward with those ideals in our heart. Thank you all, God bless you and God bless the United States of America.
