Nate Richardson
Linn County, Iowa
February 1st, 2020

Richardson broke from his typical formula for campaigning in the last days before the Iowa Caucus. He went to the campaign HQ and gave a pump up speech before heading to Linn County to give an early morning stump speech to a rally. Following this he traveled up and down the county hitting residential areas as his volunteers across the state made the get out to vote efforts. He had no time for the soft sell, no time for personal not political retail, today was the hard sell it was getting out the vote and cashing in on the relationships and personal ties Nate worked so hard to cultivate over years of hard work for his party. Through the day he held 2 small rallies and one large evening one

Nate Richardson
Dubuque County, Iowa
February 2nd, 2020

Richardson and his family woke up early on the Sunday of February 2nd and attended church with the Dunn family. This was not the first time they had attended church together, it would not be the last, but it was the last one before the Iowa Caucus. They went door to door, hit every hot spot and reach every reliable voter in Dubuque. His volunteers across the state, his paid staff, tens of thousands had been working overtime, every single surrogate, every precinct captain knew their job and executed it. Once again he did 2 small rallies and one mega rally relying on the outreach of the Dunn family to gather a crowd of evangelicals and supporters. They would be passionate and determined.

Nate Richardson
Woodbury County, Iowa
February 3rd, 2020

The moment of truth, the day of the Iowa Caucus. Richardson was up before dawn hitting every farm, business and home in Woodbury reminding people to get out the vote. It was a Monday so rallies wouldn’t be effective, this was retail with great urgency and he had blanketed the state with ads, flyers and campaign materials. Every windshield and door across the state had a flyer reminding people of the caucus and the stakes of the election. At 6pm he held one last rally but cut it short and began driving people to the caucus, his staff, his volunteers and himself personally packing cars full of voters and taking them to caucus sites. No one could say his heart wasn’t in this.

@JillianDayton in Iowa today: "Vote for me because few other candidates can lay claim to having passed Medicaid expansions, tax reform, public transport bolstering and a college plan as ambitious as mine and lay out a roadmap for how we empower working Americans once again, raise wages for millions and end poverty."

Strongest closing argument I've seen in a while. Don't vote for Jillian because she's a woman, or because someone told you to. Vote for her because she's won progressive change before, and she'll win it again.

LEVI MURPHY TRIUMPHS IN IOWA CAUCUS
John Donaldson outperforms expectations with Latino and African American voters, while Governor Velez greatly underperforms polls

By Natasha Korecki, Alex Thompson, and David Siders
02/03/2020

DES MOINES, Iowa - Levi Murphy held on.

The consistent polling leader in Iowa had almost alway been Levi Murphy who had connected with working class voters in a similar way he had to voters in his neighboring home state of Minnesota. Iowa has always put a value on retail politics and given an advantage to those hailing from surrounding states and that trend does not appear to be broken in the 2020 Democratic primary.

Additionally the passionate progressive wing of the Democatic primary showed its enthusiasm for Murphy in the caucus environment, convincing friends and neighbors to switch over to team Murphy as the night went on. Much credit must be given to the campaign infrastructure of Murphy which employed a number of veterans of the (not Sanders) primary campaign in Iowa. While the organization strength was not at that 2016 level it was clearly and firmly the best in the field giving the campaign an advantage in knowing the rules of individual caucuses and where to deploy their strength to win the delegate math.

Senator Dayton performed well in suburban areas, college counties and high income neighborhoods around Des Moines and Cedar Rapids such as Story, Polk, Johnson, and Linn but ultimately it was not enough to overcome the strength of the Murphy campaign in rural and working class counties especially in the Southeast part of the state.

Another interesting storyline to come out of the Caucus is the overperformance of Mr. John Donaldson with minority voters. Counties like Craford, Buena Vista, Marshall, Muscatine, and Woodbury saw very strong turnout for Donaldson relative to pre-caucus polling while Governor Miguel Velez saw an underperformance relative to projections likely a result of his lack of retail and ad investment in the state. While Velez won minority voters overall but by a much smaller amount than expected, largely due to the last minute push by Donaldson for Black and Latino low income voters who also invested heavily into paid staff in the state who figured out where to best invest time and resources in the caucus. At the time of writing, it appears that John Donaldson is on the rise and Governor Velez continues to fall.

Senator Levi Murphy: 40% 16 delegates
Senator Jillian Dayton: 34% 14 delegates
Governor Miguel Velez: 14% 6 delegates
Mr. John Donaldson: 12% 5 delegates

Porter Secret Meetings

Just before Iowa, just before it all, Porter had met with a few women. These women were members of the Republican Women's Club, but also ones who had a certain like of Porter due to his strong social policies. He had spoken to them in private, taking the utmost care and security to ensure that he was not found out. Third-party contacts, avoidance of public spaces, and more.

This was a very careful operation, as Porter's representatives handed off a briefcase of money to them, ready for them to speak in the last minute TV and radio ad the Porter campaign was to roll out. They would make public statements rebuking Richardson, and hopefully bring him a last-minute surge in the polls.

Porter Last Minute TV and Radio Ads: All Over Iowa

Staged with Porter volunteers and the bribed members mentioned before.

Person 1: "This is a final appeal, a final call."

Person 2: "A final call for the future of America."

Person 3: "For our heartland."

Person 4: "I'm from North Carolina, and I proudly voted for [Richardson's Lieutenant Governor] during the Republican primary."

Person 5: "Here's why."

Person 4: "Richardson poses a threat to the Republican Party."

Person 6: "A liberal coup d'etat."

Person 5: "Liberalism, in an infectious and trojan horse-like form, ready to destroy the legacy of Arnold Wolf himself."

Republican Women's Club Member 1: "I want to speak to you all today. I was speaking to Richardson's wife during that infamous fundraiser..."

Republican Women's Club Member 2: "And she told me something."

Republican Women's Club Member 3: "She told me what Richardson really thought of President Wolf."

Republican Women's Club Member 2: "She said that he called him a boar, a rapist..."

Republican Women's Club Member 1: "And said that he was unfit to have ever been elected President."

Republican Women's Club Member 3: "She even told me that he voted for Clifford in 2016 and hoped to see Wolf and his "band of ignorant savages" to finally go down."

Person 6: "The facts are clear. Richardson believes that President Wolf is a rapist, and betrayed our very own party during the 2016 election."

Person 7: "I'm voting for Porter in the caucuses. Are you?"

Person 8: "This decision will be made for our country..."

Person 2: "Our children..."

Person 3: "And our children's children."

Person 4: "The future of the Republican Party lies in your hands."

Person 8: "Let's stand together, in the name of the legacy of President Wolf himself."

Person 1: "Because what happens now..."

Person 2: "It will define the fate of our party."

Person 5: "Will we go higher and push ahead in the name of Arnold Wolf himself, to finish the dream of making America great again?"

Person 7: "Or will we falter and will we fall, to let this party fall into the dark throes of liberal ideology?"

Person 6: "It's all up to you. Vote today in the Iowa caucus."

Person 4: "Because our children are counting on us."

Congratulations to #TeamLevi, we triumphed in Iowa and unlike 2016, there was no close margin this time around. It was a decisive victory and serves as a reminder of who the Democratic Party should represent: the working class.

I didn't speak a single word in that ad. If Richardson was such a conservative, why did he get receive a primary challenge from his own Lieutenant Governor after vetoing a bill to stop paedophile transsexuals in public bathrooms?

If you have an available moment, I would like to discuss your political positions and what you plan to do if elected to the United States Senate. As you know, we must hold that seat and I want to know if you are the best candidate to carry forward Arnold Wolf's Make America Great Again agenda. I believe that you are, but I want to confirm this through an intelligent conversation. It appears that Crawford Clay has made some disgraceful pamphlets reminiscent of the attacks made on Wolf four years ago. This is absolutely unacceptable. Joe Frankston appears to expect to be handed the Senate seat, witch is also disgraceful. You appear to have the best shot at winning. I could help you in numerous ways. I have a large network of contacts, the Omaha financial community, classmates from the University of Chicago, and fellow owners of Major League Baseball and other sports franchises. Those could all be working for you if I give the word. I could reach out to other governors, including (Not-Greg Abbot). This could be our chance to secure the Wolf legacy. Call me when you can.

Randy Cramp called the Governor.

Governor Chambers: "Hello, Mr. Cramp. I hope I find you in good spirits? I'm assuming you got my e-mail?"

There is an exemption for farmers in the land value tax, and the average homeowner is better off overall due to the removal of payroll tax and our universal tax rebate.

Tim Westra
February 3rd, 2020
Des Moines, Iowa

Tim grimaced as he looked at the Iowa results on his phone. He opened the door of the car that had driven him to Dayton HQ, where he walked by reporters, several of whom flocked over to him as they caught sight of his car.

He wasn't sure how the Dayton camp was taking this...it was good news and bad news. Good news, she had outperformed polling and kept it closer than Baharia's win in 2008 over Clifford. Bad news, Levi was predictably getting good press. He briefly slowed his walk and turned to some of the reporters

Senator Westra, do you have any comment about the results tonight?

"I congratulate my friend and colleague Levi Murphy, this is a well-earned and well-deserved result for him."

Any news from the Dayton camp?

"No, I'm not an official advisor or anything, I'm here at HQ to meet with volunteers and supporters to thank them. She's outperformed polling, her chances in New Hampshire are solid, if I was her team I would be feeling good right now. But that's just my take, don't want to put words in her mouth, let's wait for her speech. That's all from me folks, good night."

With that, Tim ignored the barrage of additional questions and entered the building, where crowds of supporters and volunteers were gathered to watch the results live. He was met with some smiles as he shook hands, took some selfies, and thanked them for their help in getting Jillian to this stage. This was not a result that had caught anyone by surprise.

The candidate herself, obviously, was nowhere to be seen at the moment, probably busy preparing concession remarks elsewhere. Still, he shook hands with some of her senior staffers and advisors, with whom he'd been in frequent contact, and informed them that this was a result they had every reason to be moderately pleased about.

RICHARDSON TAKES IOWA
PORTER TAKES SECOND PLACE

By Hugh Rection and Sarah Rodham
February 3, 2020
BREAKING - Governor Nathaniel Richardson has taken a majority of delegates in Iowa. In a hard-fought battle deciding who would replace President Wolf, Republicans made their choice today, overwhelmingly voting for Governor Nathaniel Richardson of North Carolina. Former Secretary of Defense Bernard Porter has also won big tonight, coming out of Iowa better than he went in. He has clutched enough delegates to remain in a strong position.

Governor Richardson was one of the first people to enter the race to succeed President Wolf in early 2019, and it has certainly paid off, with Richardson winning with a large majority in Warren County, Jasper County and Clarke County. He was also a clear hit with the Republican women in the suburbs of Des Moines, showing his favorability with women. The majority of the northern counties were also swept by Richardson, but really no surprise there since Governor Richardson made an effort to visit the counties. Former Iowa Governor Dunn can be attributed to some of Richardson's success in the state.

One of the bigger shocks, however, was Secretary Porter's overperformance with college Republicans. College Communities in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids overwhelmingly supported voted in support of Secretary Porter. Secretary Porter has also carried rural counties in Iowa and was clearly a hit with farmers and labourers when he was out on the campaign trail. Porter also swept the South and Western counties of the state, which likely saved him from being dominated by Governor Richardson.

Iowa is one of those states that prefer to have politicians on the ground and talking to actual people, instead of doing a mass media campaign and it was clear that both candidates knew this. Both candidates have been visiting the state since they announced in 2019, with both attending the Iowa State Fair and meeting with the locals. Both the Porter and Richardson Campaigns had consistency when they visiting the states, making sure they didn't just campaign in the big cities of Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. With both Secretary Porter and Governor Richardson both actively visiting all corners of the state, it was clear from the beginning that this was not going to be as clear cut as some expected or hoped.

As the dust settles over Iowa, all eyes are now on New Hampshire with its primary happening next week. While Richardson may look like he's in a better position, it is clear from tonight's results that it is anyone's game.

Governor Nathaniel Richardson: 59.6% (24 Delegates)
Secretary Bernard Porter: 40.3% (16 Delegates)
Other: 0.1%

Nate Richardson
Iowa Victory Speech

As soon as the victory was clear Richardson came out to greet his supporters at the Caucus party, it was well timed and well covered in order to maximize media coverage.

Image

Hello Iowa!!!! It has been an absolutely incredible night to be sure, but that’s no surprise because you have made every day these past few nights incredible. Thank you all, thank you for your hard work and dedication, for every step walked, flyer mailed, phone call made or text sent and for the countless small conversations between friends and neighbors that made this victory possible. From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my family and my entire campaign team… thank you. I thank God every night for this incredible army of supporters.

Tonight is a victory for Conservatives across Iowa and across the country…. For those fighting for innovative solutions to big problems, those fighting for working families and conservative principles, for those fighting to send their kids to a better school, for those struggling against the liberal elite to live according to their faith, for those seeking to make their small business that much better, for those seeking to fight against the tyranny again communist china, and those seeking to protect the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that this country was founded on.

Tonight is a victory for those who watch in despair as the limousine liberals in Washington continue to deliver for special interest groups and those in DC, New York and Silicon Valley but not on main street. To the people of Iowa and America as a whole, I hear you, I will listen and I will deliver. I will not allow the liberal elite to take us back to the (Not Obama) years, years of stagnation and weakness, bowing to Russia and China as they impose themselves on the world, keeping the job market weak and wages down as they allow in thousands of illegal immigrants with no checks or care.

I know some people tonight might be watching me for the first time, so let me tell you what I stand for...I stand for results, if something is broken I fix it, if it works I double down on it. As Governor I have balanced the budget, cut taxes, brought in jobs, lowered healthcare costs, grew wages, cut unemployment in half and improved education. North Carolina like every state struggles, we have our own challenges… Unemployment, quality of education, poverty, I have worked every day in and out to try and improve the lives of the American people, and by every metric we have made them better. That is why I am running for President, because its the best way I can serve, how I can make the biggest impact on the most people, I am first and foremost a grateful American just looking to give back.

I stand for the Americans struggling to be heard and respected in today’s world. I hear you, you demand excellence. Not just a continuation of the fantastic Wolf-Tawney administration but taking those next steps to a New Prosperity. Creating more opportunities for the people who need it most, who have been suffering in the dark. For too many the American Dream and the American Reality are too far removed, whether it's from the scourge of the opioid epidemic, violent crime, bad schools, too few jobs, too low wages, or countless other barriers, the American dream is out of reach. But we can change that, our party can recommit itself to working families and working people, expanding the middle class, strengthening our investment in our families and children, and setting ourselves on a righteous task to lead the world in every field.

We can bring back jobs from overseas and create new jobs in the most in demand markets, we can make housing more affordable and create more affordable options for healthcare. We can invest in our nation's infrastructure, not just roads and bridges but rural broadband and 5G. We can give our small businesses a much needed boost while holding big business and monopolies in big tech accountable. We can protect life and religious freedom across the nation and for generations to come! I will not let the American people be ignored in Washington any longer!

These goals and these methods reflect what the true priorities of the Republican party should be. We are not at our core a party whose focus is solely on corporate tax cuts, we are a party of working families and American principles. We are not a party that should allow companies to ship jobs overseas so that Silicon Valley and Wall Street can prosper. And we are certainly not a party that will stay silent as the Left and the elite wants to erode our American values. We will not stay silent as the left infringes on our right to conscience and to live according to our beliefs. We will not stay silent as the unborn are killed without mercy. We will not stay silent as the left seeks to open our borders to millions of low skill workers so they can save a buck while American citizens are forced onto welfare. We are not the party that will stay silent as college students looking to get an education find it ruinously expensive and are saddled with impossible debt. We are not a party that will stay silent as the rich and powerful get all the attention and support while working families and those trying to get good jobs don’t get support. We are not the party that will stay silent while parents are looking for help with the cost of raising children. We are not the party that will stay silent as communities seek to rebuild after economic devastation or the plague of addiction.

I am a Republican, a Conservative because I trust the individual American citizen more than I trust someone in Washington. I am a Conservative because I trust that I know what is better for the education of my child, because I trust that I know how to best spend my own money, because I trust myself to make the best decisions for my own future. Democrats do not trust the American people! So let me ask you, do you want to go forward or back?

The GOP, the Republican Party must renew itself as it did in the days of Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Eisenhower and Reagan. These Presidents, these leaders did not so much transform the Republican Party but renew it and refocus it, this is the path President Wolf set us on and now we must finish his work. Our top priority must be a working class agenda, one that reaches beyond racial and ethnic bounds, that rejects the politics of division and resentment personified by radicals on the Left. This agenda unites rural and working class voters with white collar suburbanites against the elite, it is an agenda that builds the middle class and creates upward mobility. We must unite our strong moral values and principles with hard work and a vision for the future that celebrates the dynamics of American life.

“Our mission, our target.... It is a mission the Republican Party has been pursuing since the 1850s, securing the blessings of liberty, protecting freedom and ensuring economic prosperity for all people. I hear the democratic rhetoric today, they see an America in decline, an America founded on rotten principles. I say that America was founded on liberty and good principles, it acknowledged its flaws and gave future generations the tools to make a more perfect union and improve upon it. I say America was founded on idealism and principles that we as a nation have not always lived up to, but we can always do better.”

You know I was asked the other day if I was tired, and you know this campaign is 16-18 hour days, 6 or 7 days a week, some good days some bad. But any time I got discouraged or felt the exhaustion I thought of the thousands of volunteers who fight for my campaign, every second of every day someone is working hard to get me elected, because they believe in the message of creating a New Prosperity, a renewed Republican Party, a reinvigorated country, and I find myself re-energized to get to work once again. I am not tired of this fight because you’re not tired!

I’m not tired, I am inspired. Inspired by volunteers like Joshua Gaze who is studying at the University of Iowa, giving his free time to my campaign. Families like the Millers in Woodbury county who donated $25 last night, to a 14 year old girl named Melissa who made hundreds of calls alongside her mother this week from our campaign HQ. I am inspired by our Iowa Campaign Manage Carole West! And our deputy campaign manager Ernest Fields! They spent countless sleepless nights making this happen. I am inspired by the advice from Marta Cook, Jael Blackburn and Andy Barrett who helped us reach the people who needed to hear our message the most. I am inspired by Pablo Lopez who organized the incredible efforts of our volunteers, I am inspired by William Barnes who made sure that we always had the money to keep our campaign rolling, and I am inspired by Morgan Bell and Tricia Fletcher who did such an extraordinary job handling press and communications. I am inspired by Governor Dunn and Reverend Dunn, two incredible people who I am blessed to call my friends, without whom we could have never done this. Let us all give glory to God and thank him for this night.

We are not done. We have plenty of Primary left to go and I still need your support, America needs your support. So to those watching tonight that voted for me, that worked for me, that support me in any way… please keep fighting.... To those who voted for someone else… thank you for doing your part in making this country better, in moving us forward. I will listen to your voice, I will hear you and while I hope that one day I earn your support… even if I don’t I will not leave you behind.

Before I end tonight and fly off to New Hampshire to continue our fight for the nomination, let me thank two more people.... My parents. Because of the sacrifices my parents made, because of the chances they took, all their kids went and got an education, we followed our own dreams, we have our own children and that is the work ethic they instilled in us. There wasn’t a single day that it was easy, there wasn’t a single day my parents didn’t put everything they had into making their business a success. All that hard work gave them a beautiful life that could only happen in America, the greatest country in the world. That’s a dream I share, to give a better life to my daughter, for all our children. Now, their son is proud to be running for the Presidency of the United States! Let’s stand up for America and push the country forward!!!

That is my mission, to keep our country moving forward with those ideals in our heart. Thank you all, God bless you and God bless the United States of America.

"I'm strong on religious freedom, I talk about my opinion on trans athletes and my support the Masterpiece Cakeshop decision in my stump.... BLM i am firmly against the organization, they have the explicit goal of destroying the nuclear family... some cops are bad and we should make sure to get rid of them but 99% of cops are good and honest, we should be standing behind them."

Congratulations to Governor Richardson on his well earned victory in the Iowa caucus. His message is one that all Iowans, and all Americans, can get behind.
