Congressman Larson sighed in his office. He wasn't a fan of Speaker Douglas, but the Democratic House caucus was now once again subject to drama that Congressional Republicans and the RNC would doubtless try to take advantage of. Not to mention the Democratic presidential primary was still in full swing, and he still hadn't made an endorsement. He could find it in his heart to support either of the front runners, but he didn't have a set feeling yet on who would best meet the moment of a post-Wolf America. Meanwhile, his Equality Act was now languishing in the Senate. The House only managed to pass a few bits of legislation through the rest of Congress and get the President's signature, and while he was proud of those few victories, he felt hopeless.

And, as if Fate wanted to fuck with him a little more, his love life was similarly hopeless. Once you pass 30 as a gay man, dating becomes considerably more difficult. He crossed that bridge 15 years ago, and needless to say, it was difficult to navigate the modern dating scene as a Black, 45 year old Congressman. Ah well, maybe this year would be better...

"I'm always available. Maybe come down to Virginia next time. And later in the day. So we can drink more than just water" added the senator, laughing as she did. "Thank you Selina, take care!"

Porter, just prior to the debate, decided to meet with Christian Right leaders, holding a massive fundraiser in DC to meet representatives of Focus on the Family, the Family Research Council, the American Center for Law and Justice and various other assorted Christian Right groups, backing the room with not just representatives, but also Prendergast donors, stolen straight out of one of the 36 stratagems of war. He needed to keep pushing, keep pulling the firewood from under him. He spent the entire day chatting and talking with these people, ensuring that he would gain their support.

He gave them his assurances that he would overturn Roe v. Wade, overturn Obergefell v. Hodges and overturn Windsor v. United States. He stuck to his lines about morality, about justice, and ensured he was as personable and charming as he could be. He reiterated his promises, his stances, and ensured that he appealed to the evangelical donors and representatives, trying to further emphasise his other pro-evangelical stances such as opposition to pornography (something that Prendergast hadn't taken on as a policy), creationism in schools and stem cells, another few policies where he could strike where his opponents had paid little heed.

He had simply explained that they ought to give some money to his campaign, to ensure that they had a good pro-Christian President on there, ensuring that a pro-evangelical President would be in the White House, whether him or Prendergast. He asked them to fund him because he had significantly stronger stances on the evangelical issueset than Prendergast, hoping to snatch their support through his hardline stances on homosexuality, pornography and abortion.

He ensured to stand strong, to stand firm on these moral issues, continuing to meet with these people, give his traditional affect onto them, ensuring that he would get at least some of their funding in due course. He then finished, after several hours of painstaking meeting and talking with these people. He hoped that his conversations would have an effect at some point...

Hello, I would like to take a moment to thank all the hard working volunteers on my campaign, all my supporters and all the staff, everyone dedicating time and energy to get real Conservative reforms done across the country. Truly from the bottom of my heart I am incredibly humbled by your support. God Bless you all.

Unfortunately I have some distressing news. On August 24th a tropical wave developed in the Central Atlantic and over the past several days has been steadily gaining in power until yesterday when it was classified as a Hurricane by the name of Dorian. It is rapidly intensifying and should projection hold it will reach Category 5 status on September 1st.

Now as with all hurricanes, it's path and power can change rapidly, and we have no way of knowing if or when it will make landfall. Right now our best guess is that it will hit the Bahamas and then move northward along the Atlantic Coast and could impact North Carolina.

As Governor of North Carolina I swore an oath to my constituents, and the safety of all those in the state is my top priority. I will be temporarily suspending my campaign in pursuit of the Republican nomination for the Presidency, knowing that I cannot maintain a political campaign while giving my all to protect the lives and livelihoods of those I represent.

By no means do I intend to drop out of this contest. However, for the foreseeable future all campaign events will be postponed or cancelled, and my campaign will be giving out information on their status as soon as it is available. We have no way of knowing if the Hurricane will have any effect at all on the state of North Carolina, let alone how much damage it will do, so to all those in my home state watching this you have no reason to panic. Already my administration and I are coordinating a response and undertaking extensive preparations to protect us out of an abundance of caution.

Later today, I will begin giving regular updates on the Hurricane, its path and any emergency measures that need to be undertaken. So please stay tuned to your local news stations and sources and make sure you and your family are well supplied for any eventuality. Suggestions for supplies to stock up on are present on our state website and a hotline has been set up for all those who may need assistance to prepare.
