In Character Thread

What is Washington D.C? Is it the nexus of a national and global elite, hatching their plans for further dominance of the citizenry? Is it the home of statesmen, some falling from the path, but truly trying to make America a better place? Is it simply a carefully-stacked deck of cards, ready to fall as soon as doubts sweep in? Is it the hope of the angels of Madison, or the devils of man? Does the machinery of government move by the effort of the honest, the machinations of the wicked, or the inexorable trend of inertia and bureaucracy, heeding no man?

Perhaps it is simply a place like any other, everyday humans with delusions of grandeur thinking themselves more than they are, or simply struggling through their own days as do we all.

What is Washington? It is the capital of the Land of the Free.

1. The OP's words are the words of the Gods, but these Gods are not infallible, you can argue your position in a civil way but in the end their decision is final.

2. No real people or celebrities as characters. There is no Bernie Sanders that you can play. As per the introductory note, politicians post-Reagan do not exist, or have been replaced with generic stand-ins: you can play them, should you wish. Records and history are the same, including statistics, save in the places where player-characters have brought about a change.

3. Regarding absences- If you, for whatever reason, must take a leave from the roleplay-that is of course fine. But please inform us ahead and how long it may take. If you are found to have just up and left the RP, we may have to simulate how you character act in votes per say, especially depending on their importance.

4. When it comes to writing; please do it well. We expect a certain level of quality with your posts. One or two sentences will not be acceptable, but we can be permissive-if your character is engaged in conversation, a sentence is fine

5. Please make characters of quality and substance. We don't want Mary Sue flawless characters who are 30 year olds, models, former sharecroppers with military service earning a medal of honor and then returning from Iraq to attend Harvard. Those characters aren't very fun to play or interact with. But on the other hand-no sabotage characters. Just because you hate Democrats, don't make a hopelessly corrupt and scandal-ridden Democrat with no redeeming qualities.
6. No cheat-edits. Once you've made an IC post, leave it. Edits to formatting are all right along with typos, but don't try to change anything major compared to what you have already written, especially if it has already been responded to. If your character said it in public, it must stay. Gaffes happen, after all.

7. If you are not sure if something is legal or okay, ask OOC first. Always better to check-and there is limited leniency for things that are obviously bad.

8. No events that directly affect another character without permission first. In essence, avoid physical altercations and outrageous "accidents". Assassination is banned, any external action taken against politicians will take place in the form of an event.

9. No meta-gaming. Do not let the OOC influence the realism of your character's actions. If they are in a closed situation in which information is limited, they cannot state specific statistics, for example.

10. PG-13 limit. Per site-wide rules, nothing too saucy or racy. You know it when you see it.

Please wait for your application to be accepted before posting in-character.

Nate Richardson
Faith and Freedom Coalition, Washington DC
June 27th, 2020

Thank you all for coming. I’m truly humbled and blessed to be here today speaking with you. I try my best to make his event every year and regardless of where i’ll be in a year or two I promise to keep coming here. Its an honor to be here among men and women committed to defending our nation and the principles on which it was founded.

In 2018 the Coalition contacted 181 million people throughout the country, volunteers knocked on 2.2 million doors and reached almost 4 million christians in person. That’s incredible work and I have every faith we are going to keep rising. Thank you all for your support and hard work. Grassroots conservatives and Christians across the country have come here tonight and are watching online so they can all be better equipped to take our message across the country. The importance of family, our shared values, and protecting the sanctity of life. Its going to take all of us spreading that message to get us over the finish line in 2020.

We have come so far since 2016, President Wolf has delivered on his promises. We have two fantastic Supreme Court Justices, hundreds of lower court judges, he has protected religious freedom, the unborn and has tirelessly supported the nation of Israel. I would like to thank the President for his work and ask you all to recommit yourselves to these tasks as we face the 2020 election. So God Bless the Faith & Freedom Coalition both for the work it has done and for the work it will do in the coming days.

Not too long ago a Colorado baker, a man of faith declined to participate in a same-sex marriage. He viewed baking a wedding cake as going against his conscience. The left who so often calls for tolerance wanted to force this man to bake a cake with the threat of jailtime and fines. They attempted to drive him out of business because of his faith. The fact this case went all the way to the supreme court… The question of whether or not you could force someone to bake a cake against their will… The question of whether or not you could punish someone for their private faith, for daring to live according to that faith... It makes me scared for what an unchecked left might do to our country. We won 7 to 2, thats a major victory and i’m proud of it but the fight is not over.

The court ruled that the government could not treat people of faith as second class citizens. A man’s right to conscience should not depend on whether or not it comes from someone’s faith. That is a bedrock principle of our society, enshrined in our constitution. It is also a principle we will see challenged for years to come.

We saw another victory as the Little Sister’s of the Poor saw an end to the litigation against them. The Clifford administration was not allowed to continue the Baharia administration’s harassment of the Little Sisters. We now have an administration that realizes that if you are going after nuns and trying to force them to pay for birth control, you’ve probably gone a bit off the reservation.

In the past few years we have seen more victories. Returning to the Mexico CIty policy, to ensure your tax dollars don’t go to funding abortions overseas. We stopped funding the UN Population Fund which assisted China in forced sterilization and forced abortion. The Department of Health and Human Services saw a return to the rules preventing your tax dollars from funding planned parenthood.

We have seen an expansion of the child tax credit. Doubled from $1,000 to $2,000… Democrats called it crumbs but that is real money in the hands of American families. That could be the difference in getting your kid into a good school. That could help you pay for your kids healthcare, It makes a real difference and keeps families strong.

I met a single mom in Florida not too long ago, she worked two jobs… struggling to make it work. Doubling that tax credit let her breathe a bit easier, and helped her give her little girl a good birthday for once. Thats a real victory for families, not crumbs.

Did anyone here watch the Democratic Debate? I did, and it would have been funny if it weren’t so concerning. Some of them want a 70% tax rate… 70%... God only asked for 10%, they want 70%. They are embracing the socialist system that has failed again and again the world over. Remember when Baharia said ‘if you like your plan you can keep your plan’? When the dems promised our premiums wouldn’t go up? Now they say ‘just trust us, let the government run it all.’

If I were to sum up the Progressive movement in two words it’d be “Defending Government” If I were to sum up what our movement was about in two word it would be this… “Defending Freedom.”

That means defending religious liberty, that means defending economic liberty, defending our liberty to live the lives we choose, live by our conscience and to defend ourselves.

Not too long ago Yale announced a policy to deny financial aid to those who believed marriage was between a man and a woman. The “Alliance Defending Freedom” spoke on the campus against it. The speaker faced a bunch of protestors of course, the protest wasn’t just about disagreement with the lawyers position, the protest was anger over the university allowing them to speak in the first place.

The Alliance is a group of incredibly sharp legal minds, who just successfully argued the Masterpiece case before the Supreme Court and won. You think a law school would have an interest in letting them speak. Yale bowed to the mob and agreed to deny financial aid to any student who would go to work at ADF just because the group believes in traditional values and argues it successfully in the courts. Well let me say this, Yale gets quite a bit of money from the Federal Government and if they violate the rights of Christian students, violating federal law then they should be held to account and have their funding cut.

Same thing with Big tech. How many times have we heard about a Conservative group or a faith based group getting censored on social media? Either explicitly or by individuals at social media and tech companies sabotaging them then pleading ignorance. We need to hold them accountable too. If we value our faith, our speech, our values and want them to shine forth then Big Tech cannot be allowed to silence us.

You cannot allow them to silence you. A great man once said “When you pray move your feet”. I am asking you all to get moving, make calls, knock on doors, find ears and hearts willing to listen. We need to rouse every American and make them all champions of liberty willing to stand up for this country and defend freedom. Thank you all, God Bless you and God Bless the United States of America.

Russell Senate Office Building, Washington D.C.

With the call with Carrie wrapped up, Karel decided to return Goldman’s call. He dialed the number, and awaited a response.

The World Capitalist Confederation wrote:"We're gonna win and we're gonna win big, Kevin. I don't trust those other men. I was born to a poor father, like you. And just like you I clawed up the ranks, with a gun in my hand. Unlike Prendergast and unlike Richardson, I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. It's time that honest men, like you and like me, get back into the ranks of this nation before it falls into tyranny."

"Ah yes, Prendergast and Richardson... They did visit me while I was working my ass off up in Washington. I wasn't quite sure what to make of them as President. Oh, and here we go!"

Kevin would park on the side-street in Downtown Jacksonville, in front of the Dirty D's Sports Bar. It was one of Jacksonville's best burger and beer bars and one where Kevin frequents with his friends to watch non-NASCAR sports or just have a great time overall. It was also the place where Kevin had his first underage drink at 16 with a Fake ID. And, a place where he's popular enough that the staff would serve him anything on the house. The Secret Service would park just across the street, with two agents (dressed in casual clothing) following closely and another sitting in the black Cadillac.

"Dirty D's, Bernard! Careful of the Papparazi and embrace the fans." Kevin would say as he puts the pickup in park and then points out a group of fans starting to gather at the entrance. Commotion inside would also garner as talk begins about Kevin and Bernard making a surprise visit.

Kevin would reach into the glove compartment and pulled out sharpies. "Aye, here's a sharpie if you need one for the fans."

As more fans and more onlookers begin gathering around the entrance, the secret service would move in to make a clear entrance. Kevin would unbutton the top of his polo and he would get his concealed sidearm ready, just in case shit hits the fan. He'd open his door and then go around to let Bernard out.

Bernard stepped out of the car, sweating heavily from the heat.

You know, back in Iraq, it was 150 degrees in the summer, yet it never felt half as hot...It's probably the damned humidity. Iraq is a boiling hell in the summer, a freezing hell in the winter. Senator Colbert: “OK, just wanted to make sure that we are going by facts.”

As more fans and more onlookers begin gathering around the entrance, the secret service would move in to make a clear entrance. Kevin would unbutton the top of his polo and he would get his concealed sidearm ready, just in case shit hits the fan. He'd open his door and then go around to let Bernard out.

Apparently the celebrity spotlight that he was put under during his career in NASCAR still travels to him this day.

Simultaneously, there would be fans surprised; "Oh my god, it's Porter!" As soon as the former Secretary of Defense and war hero stepped out, the flash photography intensified insanely. People would extend their hands in an attempt to get a handshake with them, get some of their stuff autographed or to have a conversation with them. Press would begin throwing questions at both men from different angles. Kevin simply ignored the press and, slowly making their way in, he'd autograph.
