A forum thread for those of you not quite ready or interested in the ongoing main canon RP, but who are interested in some form of nation-based RPing.

This forum will be fairly free form unless a demand emerges for more structure. So there will be no map, no set-up, no mod-events, and no enforcement of military/population ratios (though do try to keep this sensible) unless such a thing is requested by participants. The goal here is to familiarize yourself with how nation RPing works, to interact with other regional members, and to have fun!

This opening post is liable to be amended over time, so be sure to check on it every now and again! A post will be filed in the thread to describe any major updates.

President Santiago Diaz outlined the "plan for transition to a new normal" which will see the lockdown gradually lifted across Scotatrova according to how the coronavirus crisis is evolving from state to state. Unlike other countries which have announced a timeline for the reopening of shops and businesses, Scotatrova is talking more loosely in terms of "phases" that will each last for at least two weeks and will be applied according to the states. "The de-escalation will be gradual, asymmetric and co-ordinated," said Diaz in a televised address on Tuesday that was delayed from 2pm to 6pm after the cabinet meeting to approve the measures ran on. "We are going to do it in phases and by the state or the island," he explained. The "new normal" could be in place by the end of June if all goes well. "In the best-case scenario, this de-escalation phase will take a minimum ofsix weeks and the maximum duration we want to see is eight weeks for the whole of Scotatrova," Diaz said. "By the end of June, we as a country will have entered into the newnormality if the epidemic remains under control," he said.

The plan has four phases, numbered 0 through 3, and each of the phases 1 through 3 will last at least two weeks. The transition from one phase to the next will be based on state-level public health indicators such as number of cases and capacity of the healthcare system. Phase 0 will allow people out of their homes for short walks and individual sports. Phase 1 will begin and include the opening of small shops, of terraces at one-third capacity, and of places of worship at one-third capacity. The plan is estimated to have a duration of eight weeks if there are no setbacks. Currently, the entire country is in Phase 0. This is a preparatory stage that has been in place across all of Scotatrova from Monday May 18. It sees the start of economic activity on a very small scale, with premises open "by appointment" and restaurants able to open for takeaway purposes only. Government offices will be opened to those with prior appointments and restaurants will be able to prepare take-out orders.

Meanwhile, in hard struck Atalon, metrics are indicating that the state is making headway as it battles the nation's highest levels of infection. Atalon's death total peaked on April 12, when 546 people died. Atalon has a total of 5,255 deaths as of May 21. The state's death toll has remained steadily under 100 since April 28. As of May 21, Atalon has 71,168 total cases, 5,255 deaths and 25,935 recoveries. National totals as of May 22 are 330,293 total cases, 18,065 deaths and 127,750 recoveries.

The tropical breeze swayed the palm trees on the shores, seemingly oblivious to the military installation that called Puloa Harbor home. For the past four weeks, the U.S.S Saratoga had sat in the drydocks, under repair from the Naval Engineering Corps. The Saratoga and her squadron were participating in the Taluecema Campaign, before the Saratoga Squadron was ambushed by a fleet belonging to Gera Petothela, a pro-Imperial warlord the United States has been combating on the frontiers, especially around the Taluecema System. The guerilla’s had damaged the Saratoga’s bridge in the attack, and nearly destroyed the portside thrusters on the U.S.S Colorado, one of the several cruisers assigned to escort the Saratoga. Thankfully, the U.S.S Delaware and her squadron arrived in-system before any additional serious damage could be inflicted on the Amauritan Navy, and managed to destroy several of the warlord’s frigates before Gera’s fleet escaped into hyperspace.

Now, the Saratoga and her squadron were ready to re-enter the campaign. Their new mission would take them back to Taluecema, as part of the Navy’s 1st Fleet. The Fleet would be conducting an invasion and ground campaign on Taluecema and oust the warlord’s army from the planet. Army Intelligence had found the Warlord’s Army had been establishing several weapon and fuel depots across the planet, as part of a greater plan to create further chaos on the Amauritan Frontier. All in the name of the Empire and all it stood for. The 1st and 2nd Army Corps of Ohio would be conducting the ground campaign, in addition to the 5th Army Corps of Tennessee. The Saratoga’s task was simple, yet daunting: air support. Navy Starcraft would play a major role in breaking any naval assets that stood in opposition in system and would then provide air support for the Army units on the ground afterword amidst the chaos on the ground. The battalions of Marines board the cruisers would also be supplementing the Army units on the ground, bolstering the Amauritan Expeditionary force if need be.

The bridge hummed with activity. Commodore George Watson, commanding officer of the Saratoga Squadron, stood at the helm, with the crew pits surrounding the central bridge bustling with the higher-ranking Warrant Officers. The thrusters roared to life as Traffic Control gave the all clear for the Saratoga to launch. Within moments, the Saratoga was airborne, soaring towards the atmosphere. Gradually, the vibrant blue skies of the tropical equator blackened, and soon enough, the Saratoga had broken orbit.

”This is the U.S.S Saratoga, CVN-200.” a bridge communications officer broadcasted through military channels. ”All vessels for Saratoga Squadron, sign on before jumping into hyperspace.”

This is the U.S.S Colorado, CAN-100, signing on.” A voice crackled over the communications suite. One by one, each cruiser signed on. The Colorado, the Susquehanna, the Linver, the San Juan, the Packstang, and so followed the other vessels in the Squadron.

”Sir, all vessels are signed on and prepared to jump into hyperspace.” The Communications Officer relayed to the Commodore. ”Very well,” the Commodore acknowledged. "Commence hyperspace jump to the rendezvous point with First Fleet.”

With that command, the Saratoga Squadron jumped into hyperspace, hurtling towards the campaign that laid before the Squadron.
