Carnislov: Backstabs and Radicals

Welcome to Carnislov, a Baltic Republic circa 1938. The small nation was established after it gained independence from the Russian Empire following the 1917 revolution. A Federal Republic was established from the former Russian province, a land thought extinct since the 16th century. The new government was beloved for the first several years of rule, especially after defeating the Soviet force that attempted to invade in 1920. But now things aren’t as well as they were. Too the West, the Weimar Republic has fallen in favor of the NSDAP or Nazi Party, becoming a totalitarian one party state. Meanwhile to the East the Soviet Union industrializes and is preparing a purge of all it's disloyal officers. Carnislov exists as a small flea trapped between two giants.
The massive worldwide depression has racked the small country, bringing famine and economic ruin to the average person. The Party of People's Freedom who won a major victory the last several elections becoming the current dominant party in the Constituent Assembly, has failed to stem the rising inflation or lack of food, giving rise to radicals on both the left and the right. The 1938 election approaches, and it seems like moderates are on the losing end. Both the Carnislov Independent Front and the People’s Union Party poll well amongst the common folk. Gangs such as the Far Left Red Guard and the Far Right Free Legion roam the inner cities terrorizing groups they disagree with. A new order is rising in the land, will you try to stop it, or join them?
