I've been thinking about the idea for an interaction between Huian and Bai Xiang. My first thought was Xiang gets drunk with the villagers and tries to involve Huian in some sort of shenanigans she wants no part in, but I'm not sure about that, since his "impulsive extravert" persona is mostly a façade he puts on because he wants people to like him and remember him.
Maybe he gets drunk and challenges her to some petty contest? (Which would be nonetheless massive in scale from a human perspective, due to both of them being essentially minor deities at this point, e.g. something like "who can finish drinking an entire lake first".) That would fit with both his surface fun-loving tendencies and his more hidden desire for glory and respect, although on Huian's side I'm less sure why she would decide to accept Xiang's challenge. I think the best story would be one where Xiang's victory seems inevitable and he starts boasting about it, and then Huian wins by coming up with some sort of clever trick. (Likely one that exploits Xiang's hubris somehow.)
You do point out important issues with the idea of an interaction. Though I will say I had considered Xiang trying to get Huian involved in some of the shenanigans because she's a bit of a recluse. Though due to, as you point out, Xiang's secret desire that could cause an issue.
I think I have a proposal; both. Let's say that in a state of revelry Xiang does see Huian in the river and attempt to draw her into the shenanigans in town of which her reserved nature isn't open to (on top of her not really being comfortable around mortals as much as Xiang). Perhaps with the interaction between these two having become a focal for attention and (perhaps) caused the revelry to die down a little- Xiang gets the impression or accuses Huian of seeing herself as 'better' then them and him (her not having once been Human). This esculates into a challenge of which Xiang believes will solidify him as a local legend - him and the people proving themselves on par with a spirit. Huian however, being not intoxicated sees that this is foolish. However now with Xiang and revelers around him issuing the challenge Huian is in a bit of a bind. The wise action would be to slither away, and she may have started only to be stopped by Xiang with something like 'afraid you will loose?'. Which would attack Huian's own vice of pride. Huian accepts the challenge. During it Xiang's victory seems inevitable to the revelers and he starts boasting about it, and then Huian wins by coming up with some sort of clever trick - at least to the revelers- to her Xiang caused his own fall- she merely gave him the opportunity to fail. The fallout of this will if approved need to be devised as well as what the challenge was.

Thank you for enrolling in the RP and being active here. Even if we didn't get started I know that I've at least enjoyed the planning- the story we'd set up here is really good and I can smile about that
