Still working on a few things. What would you think'd be a good national motto for Quebec (besides "Je me Souviens/I remember," I don't want to use that one)?

Might not have time for it, but I would love to watch.

Maybe act as an arbiter in a co-op fashion if OP is okay with that.

Okay, that's unexpected. However, at least exclude Alberta, Saskatchewan, Wyoming and Montana (but you can keep the western half).

PS: The "Northeast Territories" are actually called the "Northwest Territories".

Can I keep Alberta, though? My draft currently includes Alberta, and you know, the o i l

I got some interesting nation ideas for some of you. These are:
  • Greater Serbian Republic (Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Republika Srpska, Brčko District, Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde and Posavina Canton)
  • Republic of Korea (Korea, Northeast China and Tsushima Island)
  • Visegrád Federation (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary)
  • Democratic Confederation of Kurdistan (Iraqi Kurdistan, Syrian Kurdistan, Turkish Kurdistan and Iranian Kurdistan)
  • Theodemocratic Republic of Deseret (Utah and Arizona)
  • Republic of California (California, Nevada, Baja California and Baja California Sur)
  • Russian Empire (European Russia, Belarus, Donetsk Oblast, Luhansk Oblast, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Crimea, Sevastopol, West Kazakhstan Region, Atyrau Region and Mangystau Region)
  • Republic of Nejd (Saudi Eastern Province, Riyadh Region, Najran, Al-Qassim Region, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Musandam Governorate)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a country’s GDP (both per capita and overall) in this timeline?

While my sig is mostly jest, and I do not want to harm those who are tankies, let me say this: If you’re the type to talk about “fash” or “bashing the fash” yet refuse to criticise the crimes of Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao, then you need to take a long, hard fucking look at yourself. Because you ARE the thing you want to “bash”, even if you dress it up in a different skin.

While the intervention threat is a jest (we have no ability to project any meaningful military power that far out), environmental protection is something we'll have some interest in. I imagine sulphate aerosols is a thing we would be doing very soon once the IC opens. By 2056, I imagine that the more serious effects of climate change would be just starting to kick in; while Northern Europe isn't a heavily-affected region, sea levels are definitely a concern, what with all of our key cities being on the coast...

Find what the current real-life GDP of the area/population your nation covers is, set a growth scenario you find reasonable, and do a bit of math.

At least, that’s the way I did mine.

That's kinda long, but, it'll do.

Maybe If I shorten it to just "Born under the lilies?"

[Do Not Remove - AKSAI]

NS Name: Sarderia
RP Name: Federal Republic of Cascadia - Федеральная Pеспублика Каскадия

Capital: Victoria, District Federal (Victoria, BC)
Territory: Magadan Oblast, Amur Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai, Zabaykalsky Krai, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Kamchatka Krai, Sakhalin Oblast, Alaska, Yukon, Northeast Territories, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Alberta, Idaho, Montana, northern California, Northern Mariana Islands, Marshall Islands, and Guam
  • Territories of the Cascadian Federation: Melekeok City (Palau), Midway Atoll, Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Kingman Reef, and Palmyra Atoll
  • Sovereign Dependency of Cascadia: Sakha Republic - Sakha Öröspüübülükete

Population: 36,851,816 (population of Sakha Republic: 1,058,828)

Type of Government: Federal Constitutional Republic

Government Explaination: Cascadia is a mix between the United States and Russian government systems, using US-style elctoral college and representation, but splitting the executive power between the President and the Prime Minister. Essentially, the President acts as the head of state and Prime Minister the head of government, but the Prime Minister's decision are heavily influenced and controlled by Presidential power. The Cascadian Congress is split into two branches - the Senate and the House of Representatives. Both branches operate based on the Westminster system - a legacy of the Canadian government - but though government is formed in the lower house, the House of Representatives, the support of the Senate is necessary in order to govern. This has created an unique blend of government similar to Australia's political system. The major political parties in Cascadia are divided into two blocs of opposing ideologies. The largest, Democratic Party, is essentially the continuation of USA's party of the same name. Democrats controlled the state legislatures of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. The second largest is the Republican Party, which controlled the legislatures of Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Chukotka, and Sakhalin. United Russia, which retains its identity from the old Russian Federation, is the majority in Amur, Magadan, and Zabaykalsky states, and is strengthening their base in Alaska. The United Conservative Party has traditionally been the governing party of Alberta, and has recently expanded their voter's base to Yukon and the Northwest Territories as well. United Russia, the Republican Party, and the UCP together formed the Conservative coalition. Its opponent the Liberal coalition consisted of the Democratic party as well as the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, which remains the majority in Khabarovsk state and Jewish Autonomous state. British Columbia's New Democratic Party has long been the majority in the state, although recently the Democrats came to supplant them. However, they still controlled the legislature of Guam and Jefferson (Northern California) states, the latter being contested between Republican and NDP politicians. There are no official languages in Cascadia, though signs are written in English and Russian. Study of both languages are mandatory in the education curriculum, and most Cascadians are expected to be bilingual.

The Sakha Republic is a sovereign dependency of Cascadia. The Cascadian government guarantees the independence of Sakha in managing and governing internal affairs, using the Turkic-Russian parliamentary system they inherited - Il Tumen. However, Cascadia controls Sakha's foreign relations and military matters, and Sakha citizens are granted Cascadian passports and citizenship. Additionally, a special Sakha citizenship is issued to every residents born in Sakha. The Cascadian government currently sponsors an immigration project as requested by the Il Tumen of Sakha Republic. Elections in the Sakha Republic is held by local conventions resembling caucuses for the tribal communities, and Cascadian-style electoral college for the rest. It is governed by an elected Head of the Republic (yakut: Il Darkhan) and a Cascadian government representative, the Vicegerent, elected by the Sakha Legislature (yakut: Il Tumen). The Il Tumen consisted of just two parties, the majority, Conservative-affiliated Sakha National Party, and the Liberal-affiliated Social Democratic Front as opposition. Yakut is the official language of the Sakha Republic, though English and Russian are primarily used in day-to-day communication.

Despite the far distance between North America and Russian Far East, both halves of Cascadia are vehemently loyal and united, due to the fact that neither could stand alone without the other - especially in the Russian Far East, where the economy is in developing phase, and still largely relies to the North American states. Similarly, the federal government needs to maintain the rich natural resources found in Russian Far East, and the large, empty swathes of land suitable for development. Cascadian culture is generally welcoming and accepting of immigrants, one of the reasons why immigration rate to Cascadia is very high. The Cascadian Federal Reserve based its dollar production on the monetary policy of inflation and occassionally also the Cascadian government's fiscal policy, whereas the Reserve would print more Cascadian Dollars to finance the Government's large infrastructure projects, and then encouraging further production and manufacturing to create more Cascadian goods, which Cascadians would then spend on. Combined with the massive gold reserves the central bank has, the Cascadian Dollar is considered one of the most stable currencies in the world. With jobs readily available for new immigrants, relaxed immigration policies, low tax regime, small government, and a developing economy in the Russian Far East, Cascadia is on the track for further and faster economic growth.

Major Domestic Issues: Immigration from the surrounding areas, inter-ethnic tensions, tense political climate between the Conservative (Republican - UCP - United Russia) and Liberal (Democrat - NDP - LDPR) coalitions
Major Foreign Issues: Expansion into the Pacific, Siberia, and the mountain United States area, estabilishing friendly relations with other American splinter states

History:
  • 2020: United States President Donald J. Trump reelected by a very close margin to Democratic candidate Joe Biden. Trump continued the trade war with China and launched investigations into major Democratic leadership, including Hillary Clinton, Barrack Obama, and Joe Biden himself. Washington governor Jay Inslee and Oregon governor Kate Brown, both Democrats, are facing heavy opposition from Republican counties and representatives. Brown, who previously sent ventilators to New York despite Oregon having a shortage of it, is investigated.
  • 2023: Andrew Scheer is elected as Prime Minister of Canada, as Trudeau's approval free-falled into a new low. The new Conservative government formed a closer tie to America's Trump administration, pushing further fiscal conservatism policies and protectionism. 2023 saw the end of the US-China trade war as American companies moved their factories into India and Vietnam. Trump and Narendra Modi signed a memorandum of understanding of further cooperation between the US and India. Meanwhile, China is slowly overtaking the USA in terms of GDP. Washington-based Amazon opened new offices in Portland, Oregon and Boise, Idaho. Trump ended the sanctuary cities policy and strengthened the ICE. A Washington Republican representative proposed the opening of new industrial parks to employ immigrants and boost manufacturing in the state.
  • 2024: Chirs Shannon is elected President of the United States, bringing a change of policies to accomodate both Republican and Democrat factions. However, polarization is still strong in the country, especially in the West Coast area. The Washington Industrial Park is opened, prompting textile and electronic companies to re-source their manufacturing in the US. The outbreak of the Central European War prompted the US to support a side in the war. European refugees began fleeing into the United States - Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia among the largest acceptor of migrants. The Republican Party gained more popularity as public opinion shifted more right-wing in response of the war.
  • 2026: Global warming opened new avenues of shipping and oil drilling in the Arctic. The subsequent Alaskan oil boom increased Alaska's population and GDP by more than 10%. The US began moving its ships and air force bases from the Pacific into the Arctic, fearing Russian expansion. The Oregon Industrial Park and North California Industrial Park is opened, providing more jobs and reducing the states' unemployment rate by 0.3%. The US military boosts recruitment. The Liancourt Crisis deteriorated Japanese-Korean foreign relations; as a consequence, both Korean and Japanese companies began investing heavily in the US - particularly the Cascadian states - to gain support.
  • 2030: China is rocked by the Economic Drain. As political conditions in China became increasingly unstable, more Chinese immigrants began moving into the Cascadian states and British Columbia. Combined with the opening of more industrial parks to provide more jobs, this greatly boosted the region's economic growth.
  • 2031: The United States Seventh Fleet is recalled from Japan into a new base in Seattle as a consequence of the Korean-Japanese tensions.
  • 2032: Mass demonstrations in Portland and Seattle occured against the Democratic government of the state. However, the Republican parties of Washington and Oregon refused to contest Democratic candidates in the gubernatorial election, instead opting to drive public opinion of the Democrats further down. The United States Third Fleets relocated to Bangor from Pearl Harbor.
  • 2032: US Army Pacific withdraws from South Korea following the outbreak of the Second Korean War, to its bases in Hawaii and Cascadia.
  • 2033: The United States began to deteriorate as political condition worsens. North California began a seccession movement from the more liberal and Democratic-dominated California government. Due to the political instability, the State of Jefferson is formed with its capital in Yreka, California. The Central European War greatly diminished Russia's hold over its Siberian and Far Eastern oblasts, leading to seccesionist movements, rebellion, rioting, food shortage, and economic crisis.
  • 2034: The Washington government estabilished the Seattle Stock Exchange (STSE). Washington-based companies such as Amazon and Microsoft relocated their regional headquarters from the Midwest, New England and East Coast into Cascadia due to political instability. The STSE started off with numerous bluechip corporations trading there, including Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, Costco, and even foreign corporations such as Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Alibaba. Seattle slowly emerged as a new financial center. Additionally, major arms producers such as Remington, Bushmaster, Colt, Barrett, and Smith&Wesson began using the industrial parks estabilished in Washington as factories. The Washington legislature passed an act to enlarge the naval bases in Kitsap and Everett, and sold several of the docks to General Dynamics for shipyard drydock construction.
  • 2035: Alaska-based USAID and American NGO's sent a relief expedition to Khabarovsk and Vladivostok following the rebellion and riots, int he aftermath of Russia's instability and China's economic scandal.
  • 2036: The State of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Jefferson, and Montana seceded from the United States as America split apart due to years of political instability. The five states' representatives convened in Portland and formed a temporary government based on the United States consitution. The US 7th Fleet and US Army Pacific is integrated to the Cascadian Defense Forces, forming the backbone of the new nation's military. Washington Democratic governor Rick Larsen, a former representative for WA-01, is appointed President of Cascadia.
  • 2037: Larsen resigns after only five months as President. British Columbia and Alaska is admitted into the Union following their seccessions from Canada and USA, respectively. The NDP merged with the Democratic Party. Alberta voted to join Cascadia, but faced a significant resistance from those who remained loyal to Ottawa. The Cascadian Army invaded Alberta in response, deploying F-22s to bomb loyalist bases. The Cascadian-Canadian war lasted for three weeks before the Canadian loyalists are forced to sign a peace treaty. On August 2037, Alberta, the Northwest Territory, and Yukon joined the Union. The Albertan UCP merged with the Republican Party, while several members opted to join the Democrats instead. NDP-Democrat senator from British Columbia, John Joseph Horgan, is appointed 2nd President of Cascadia following Larsen's resignation. The Cascadian Constitution is ratified.
  • 2038: Following the dissolution of the Russian Federation, the Cascadian Navy deployed CFS Ronald Reagan, CFS Blue Ridge, and CFS America alongside numerous other cruisers, destroyers, and frigates into Khabarovsk and Vladivostok. Representatives of the oblasts, republics, and krais of the Russian Far East convened in the CFS Blue Ridge to estabilish the Pacific Federal Republic modeled on the Russian government system. Victoria, British Columbia, is designed as Cascadia's new national capital.
  • 2039: The Cascadian military are granted operating bases in the Pacific Federal Republic. Cascadia supplied the Republic almost 70% of its food and industrial equipments. The CFS Ronald Reagan, CFS Blue Ridge, and CFS America are dispatched into Guam to take control of the former American territorry before either Japan, Korea, or one of the Chinese successor states claimed the island. Naval and aircraft production began in Seattle. President Horgan is elected for the second term. The Pacific Federal Republic began a Cascadian-funded mass immigration project from Cascadia to the Russian Far East. While this brought significant investment and economic growth in most of the Russian Far East states, there was massive demonstrations against Cascadians in Primorsky Krai.
  • 2040: The Cascadian Resorces Corporation, a sovereign wealth fund of Cascadia, is estabilished. The government's fiscal policy spent almost 3.1% of the national GDP on infrastructure projects, an all-time high. The Horgan administration passed the Early Immigration Act, allowing people from other parts of the U.S, Canada, and the Pacific Federal Republic to immigrate into Cascadia. From 2040 to 2043, about 700,000 immigrants entered the nation. Further industrial parks and manufacturing centers are created to accomodate jobs for immigrants.
  • 2042: After four years of constant political instability and inter-state rivalry, the Pacific Federal Republic dissolves, despite heavy Cascadian intervention. This greatly affects President Horgan's administration, and it led to his impeachment in the Cascadian Congress. Horgan VP Benjamin Zhang is appointed 3rd President of Cascadia. Zhang immediately consolidated his control of the Democratic Party by implementing a series of purges, and ordered the invasion of Khabarovsk in August 2042, in hopes of reforming the Pacific Federal Republic. The sudden invasion pushed the Republic's forces further south into Vladivostok. The winter, coupled with military invasion, brought economic standstill to the region. Civil rule was restored immediately afterwards, however, with Cascadian government officials forming the temporary administration of the Russian Far East states.
  • 2043: By March 2043, Cascadian forces controlled the whole Russian Far East except for Primorsky Krai. However the invasion led into massive demonstrations against Zhang's administration, and in July 2043, his impeachment. Idaho Representative Heather Scott is elected President by the Republican majority in Congress, forming the first Republican administration in Cascadia. Due to Zhang's invasion of the Russian Far East, public opinion of the Democratic Party dropped severely, slowly flipping the Democratic-majority states of Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia into Republican. Scott funded further assistance programs in returning the Russian Far East's former economic growth, such as subsidizing essential workers and corporations, and inviting even more Cascadians into the Russian Far East, also vice versa. This was greatly supported by the Untied Russia government of the occupied states. In contrast to their former policies of limiting immigration, the Conservative coalition and the Scott administration passed the Cascadian Immigration Act, allowing free pass for migrants to Cascadia from other former U.S and Canada territories. Within five years, Cascadia accepted more than 2,000,000 migrants coming in, with most of them later signing up for further migration to the Russian Far East via ferries and planes.
  • 2044: A referendum is held on the occupied territories of the Russian Far East on the issue of government. The subsequent result is sixty-eight percent voted to join Cascadia, compared to twenty-two percent Independence and twenty percent reforming the Pacific Federal Republic. The territories of Chukotka, Magadan, Kamchatka, Khabarovsk, Jewish Autonomous Territory, and Amur is organized from the former oblasts and krais. Meanwhile, the Sakha Republic barely passed joining the federation with 51% agreement. A committee is estabilished with the Cascadian territorial governors and Sakha leaders to estabilish a sovereign nation, but depended upon Cascadia for military matters and foreign relations. The Constitution of Sakha Republic is ratified in July 2044, and the Republic has become a dependency of Cascadia ever since.
  • 2045: Scott's administration sponsored Russian immigration from the territories into Alaska, Alberta, and Cascadia proper - and the reverse immigration to the Russian Far East territories. The United Russia emerged as a new major political party in Cascadia.
  • 2046: United Russia chairman Evgeny Larionov signed a memorandum of understanding with Heather Scott, cementing the party's entry into the Republican - UCP coalition. The Democratic - NDP coalition is later joined by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) under the leadership of Khabarovsk governor Sergey Furgal. The Third Amendment of the Cascadian Constitution estabilished position of the Prime Minister. The government started giving subsidies to pre-K and education, incentivizing Cascadians to grow their families.
  • 2050: The territories of Chukotka, Magadan, Kamchatka, Khabarovsk, JAO, Zabaykalsky, Sakhalin, and Amur ratified the state constitutions and the Cascadian Constitution, officially joining the Federal Republic of Cascadia. The Sakha Republic formally elected the first Il Darkhan after years of Cascadian administration.
  • 2051: Evgeny Larionov of the Republican - UCP - United Russia coalition is elected 5th President of Cascadia, becoming the first ethnic Russian president. Larionov's administration saw the ascension of Yukon and Guam into statehood, joining the Union at the same time on 2053. An increase of immigration from Manchuria and the former US territories was recorded. From 2051 to 2056, Cascadia accepted a further 1,200,000 immigrants, a lower number from the Scott administration's record. There is push from the Conservative coalition for Larionov to lower the number of migrants entering Cascadia.
  • 2056: Mass immigration from Heilongjiang, Canada, and the remainder of the US becomes a heated political topic in Cascadia. The Liberal coalition pushed for more migrants being admitted into the country. Charles H. Palmerston, a Republican senator from Alaska, is elected President over a small margin to former Amazon CEO Jeffrey Preston Bezos, the governor of Washington. While being a Conservative coalition president, Palmerston's administration had been put under criticism by conservatives because of his lenient approach towards immigration. There is talks that Palmerston is planning to give Liberals position in his cabinet and passing over Republican, UCP, and United Russia members. Several hardline conservatives are planning to impeach him.

While you can keep the stuff that occured in 2020 and 2023, you know that Chris Shannon became President of the United States and his policies are different from both Republicans and Democrats. I am going to set up a character part for the terminology post in the first page. I can help you with the timeline if you want to.

Yeah, but Russia is crumbling and splintered into many states in this timeline. Cascadian intervention basically just mashed up the whole Russian Far East into one country, but the country started to splinter. Since Cascadia already has a dominant presence in the region, they invaded again and most of the states chose to join Cascadia because of several reasons, namely development and a major food source (Alberta, NorCal, Oregon). Plus the dominant party there is the LDPR not UR.

I'm trying to make a sort of Canada mashed with the US, so it has many parties but essentially still use the Washington system and have two major competing political blocs - i.e Liberal vs Conservative
