TASK
A NEW DAWN
A new dawn has arisen over Washington. After a few years of unsteady peace, war is soon to erupt again. All across Washington, pockets of hostile raiders have made their strongholds in key and strategic locations that would surely deny a faction's foothold in the area. These strongholds must be either destroyed (or incorporated into the raider alliance) in order for the ulterior plans of reaching and establishing a foothold in Seattle can be undertaken.

OBJECTIVES
Destroy any of the following strongholds (indicated on the locations map as maroon stars):
  • Liberty Ridge
  • Tanner
  • Buckley
  • Carlson
  • Yakima
  • Hawk's Stand

REWARDS
Assorted raider loot, as well as a boost to your faction.

TASK
THE HORNET: CONSPIRACY
The Hornet, or better known by his actual name of Matthew Skirist, is a trusted lieutenant of Keegan MacIntosh. For seasons, this man has faithfully served MacIntosh until the Raider Alliance's arrival in the state of Washington. Since then, the Hornet has acted out of character, by arguing with the Alliance leader, acting on his own will, and rumoured to have hoarded a number of loot for himself. As of now, with the Hornet out of the camp, it is a prime opportunity to speak to the other lieutenants and representatives of the various raider clans to help figure out what is going on.

APPLICABLE
    Keegan MacIntosh's Raider Alliance.

OBJECTIVES
Uncover the conspiracy by speaking to the following characters:
  • The Bulldog, Liam Thompson
  • The Siren, Elizabeth Cassel
  • The Scorpion, Mark Lewis
  • Crazed One
  • Marco
  • Swordfish
  • Papa Bear
  • Lukko

REWARDS
Keegan MacIntosh's gratitude (don't expect anything more).

CRISIS OF THE WEST CHARACTER APPLICATION

Character Name: Joseph Palatine
Birthplace: Edward's Point
Age: 51
Sex: Male
Appearance: Here.

Equipment:
  • x1 HORNET .357 Magnum
  • x1 Bastard Sword, steel blade, cruciform grip
  • x1 Dagger, steel blade, fitted with a leather grip
  • Dark linen tunic, canvas cloak along with a stately waistcoat
  • Pair of military issue boots, a rarity within the Kennewick court
Strengths:
  • Unchecked Ambition - Palatine is driven to fight, scheme, learn and do whatever it takes in order for him to sate his desire for power, if that is even possible. His rapid ascension into Kennewick's nobility has worried the incumbent ruling circle, fearful that the man may begin to make moves against the King himself.
  • Educated - Unlike the majority of the post-Flash population of Washington, Palatine had the privilege of undergoing schooling. Beyond literacy and arithmetic, he studied and developed a passion for history and rhetoric, beneficial to his position in court.
  • Left-handed - Hardly a strength in much of Washington, left-handedness is uniquely desired by those in the Kingdom of Kennewick on account of the edge it can give a person within a sword-fighting context. Though Kennewick's army is thoroughly accustomed to utilizing firearms, Palatine's fellow nobles may think twice before challenging the man to a duel on account of this fact.
Weaknesses:
  • Insignificant Birth - Born to parents largely unknown to any of Kennewick's Houses, Palatine is viewed as an outsider by many and a foreign threat by some.
  • Fragile Temper - Palatine is known to speak and act uncouthly or even violently if he is wronged, or if he perceives that he has been wronged.

Personality: Joseph is a man who aspires for higher things and is willing to make those aspirations a reality through a mixture of hard work, blunt application of force and intrigue. Despite this, he is normally a kind and amicable sort, so long as you are not obstructing his grand designs.

Allegiance: The Kingdom of Kennewick
Occupation: Regent of Baron Marius Edward II, Lord Steward of House Edward, Governor (Pro Tempore) of Edward's Point
Motives: Palatine wants to further his own position within the Kingdom of Kennewick, using his adopted House as a means to the end of deposing the weak, incumbent King.

Biography:
Palatine's parents were traders. Driven from the Union's lands on account of the fact that his father was wanted for several counts of smuggling and dubious links to the renegade settlement of Moses, his parents crossed the Union's borders into the Kingdom of Kennewick, where they put up a house and settled down to raise their child. Refusing to learn his lesson, Joseph's father fostered connections with some members of the local nobility, acting as a procurer of various luxuries and trinkets desired by the ruling elite. Determined to set his family apart from the serfs that surrounded his modest property, the profits he made were used to finance Joseph's education. In return for his services, the nobles returned the favor by turning back bounty-hunters at the border, who intended to capture the elder Palatine and cash in on a Union-issued reward.

Following his father's death, Joseph joined Kennewick's military. He became a sergeant on account of his middle-class birth and soon distinguished himself fighting tribals in Kennewick's borderlands. Following his victory, Palatine's unit was honored with a banquet put on by his Baron. He used this opportunity to approach his liege, asking for a position with which he could make himself more useful to House Edward. Disappointed that the young man was not following in the footsteps of his father and unwilling to make a low-born outsider a herald of his House, the Baron placed Joseph in charge of the stables of Edward's Point. A posting hardly fit for a Serf, Joseph understood that he must prove himself here if he were to be considered for anything greater by the Baron. In the stables, Joseph came to understand that the facilities were operating grossly over-budget due to several of the stable-hands stealing feed for their personal use. Joseph solved this issue by ordering the flogging of one of the accused men, and when the sheriff refused to administer the punishment because it was not within Palatine's authority, he whipped the man himself.

The sheriff was duty-bound to report the incident to the Baron, but the Baron was too pleased by the reduction in operating costs of the stables to wish to punish Palatine. As a result of his actions, Palatine was made a tax collector, an advisor of the Baron and then ultimately the Steward of House Edward. Over the course of his career, he had grown to be a close friend and confidant of the Baron. With the Baron's blessing, Palatine married the man's niece, cementing himself as a close associate of his liege's House. He faithfully served his position, until the Baron's untimely death, thought to be caused by a heart attack. Joseph was immensely upset by this event, but was forced to move quickly in order to preserve his position. The Baron had died at the age of 47, leaving a young son, a mother and a drunk for a brother. The Baron's mother had effectively been acting as the heir's guardian, ostensibly unconcerned with the politicking of the court. The drunk, Joseph's father-in-law, was similarly unconcerned, lacking both the initiative or the political support necessary to take the Barony. Seizing upon the inaction of the inner family, Palatine positioned himself as the young heir's regent, pulling on his connections among his fellow courtiers and the assistance of his wife to placate the cousins and more distant members of the Baron's House.

Having secured the levers of power within one of Kennewick's major families, Palatine is left with a few crucial months to extend his influence further, before Marius Edward II comes of age.

Essentially, it's first come, first serve for the Tasks. Similar to that of Beiarusia's OUTBREAK here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=399787

In your case for Rycken, it'd be interacting with the NPC characters. You'd have partial control over the NPCs and be able to reap the rewards depending on the outcome of your interactions with them.

Going to finally app and make a raider alliance character tonight/tomorrow.

Last question though, are there any roles that are specifically needed or would fit in well? I.E. sniper, medic, engineer, etc.

Not really. I left everything open as the open roles could easily be handled by an unnamed NPC.
