"We are recalled here today to discuss this Government's budget. The vote on this budget will constitute the first major vote of confidence in this administration. It is therefore appropriate and necessary that I present before the House membership the qualities of this budget, and explain the government's aims and objectives therein."
"I must first thank my Honourable Colleague Mr. de Vries-Lau, this Government's Finance Minister, for his work in compiling this budget. I am most deeply indebted to the great efforts he has taken to make Banduria a great and prosperous nation."
"This budget will comprise about 18 percent of our nation's gross domestic product, GDP. 16 percent of the budget is appropriated to fund key government organs and institutions, while 2 percent is reserved for payment on our national debt. In the opinion of experts across the board, this government has struck the proper balance that will enable Banduria to grow while ensuring fiscal responsibility."
"This government is a government of fiscal conservatism. It is this administration's deeply-held belief that government governs best when it governs least. As such, this government has taken steps to trim away unnecessary and redundant spending, instead of focusing on what counts. In the wake of terrible terrorist attacks in Boschstad, this government has elected to boost funding for our Interior Ministry, so that it may be more capable of detecting, intercepting, and diffusing threats in the future."
"What's more, this government is committed to ensuring that Banduria looks out for the poorest and neediest. That is why we have elected to devote three percent of GDP to the Public Services Ministry."
"Lastly, this government is committed to funding the programs and institutions we have established. We have included provisions to fund the Green Energy Bank, Economic Modernization Fund, and Electoral Commission. As this government continues to establish programs, rest assured that we will continue to provide adequate funding for those as well."
"Madam Speaker, perhaps I am preaching to the choir, but I would like to urge members to vote on the efficacy of the legislation at hand rather than voting to promote party interests. This is the budget Banduria needs, the budget our people deserve."

"Madam Speaker, what rule exactly requires my colleagues and I to mention the Speaker before speaking? I was addressing both this House in its entirety and the Prime Minister."

Roosevetania wrote:"Hear, hear! Madam Speaker, I am frankly appalled, though not surprised, at the Government's bare-bones proposal. One would think that, despite their absurd commitment to economic liberalism, they would at least pretend to care about the people of Banduria. Instead, they have put forth an absurd proposal which is an insult to all who care about meaningful spending and caring for the poor of this nation.
"In total, this budget spends only 14.5% of our national GDP. This would put Banduria at one of the lowest rates in the world, the eighth lowest in the world. Do they care about our citizens? They are trying to say they care about Bandurians while spending less on them than 95% of the world? How can we help our citizens on this budget? How can we defend our nation on this budget? How can we raise our children on this budget? How can the Prime Minister expect to run a compassionate, growing nation on such a low budget? Nearly every other country in the world would be spending more than us, and they seem to be succeeding.
"Furthermore, Madam Speaker, even in this pitifully low budget, the Government has the wrong priorities. As my colleague pointed out, only one-sixth of the budget is going towards public services. They expect that we can fund our schools, feed our poor, and everything else that the government must provide, on one-sixth of the budget and 3% of the GDP. The Government has forsaken the very people it has promised to protect and serve, and it must reconsider.
"Madam Speaker, this budget is frightening. This Government would have us forget the struggling residents of our nation in favor of cutting spending. They would rather keep their precious balanced budget than provide for our citizens. For all those who cares about the poor who cry out for help, for all those who care about the future of our children, and for all those who care for the development of Banduria, I urge you to oppose this budget. Our people need help, not austerity. We must defeat this budget, or we forsake our people. They cry out to us. Thank you."

Michael turns to Yang, "Madam Speaker, my colleague wants us to go into dept don't you? I would rather Banduria not become a welfare state like some of my fellow MPs would like to happen. Our citizens need to learn to not depend on this government for everything they need and I believe that welfare spending should be slashed as it is a waste of money to even support these programs. I have studied what these welfare programs have done to the West and I will not let Banduria fall into the same trap. I support this budget and I call on the rest of you to support it too."

"Madam Speaker, pardon my interjection. I would like to point out that the honourable members of the Opposition are in fact, immensely short-sighted and very limited in their tunnel-vision when they are conducting blatant political posturing like this. It is interesting that the Opposition is focussing on raw numbers rather than the real impacts of what we are doing as a government. The government is committed to defending our economy from erosion, determined to grow it from strength to strength, determined to build individual ruggedness and self reliance that will generate to ever greater prosperity and resilience in our society, and our programmes will be targeted, with emphasis on equality of opportunity. Targeted at making the greatest impact, not splashing cash as if it were something that grew on trees. The Opposition members only see raw numbers, they don't realise that throwing money at problems do not solve it, it is effective policy and effective implementation that works, not flushing systems with cash and expecting that cash to work wonders by itself. It is limited, selfish, and short-sighted of the Opposition not to see this, and I urge all colleagues to work with this government, the people's Government, Banduria's government, to build a better Banduria without resorting to quibbling over who is the biggest Santa Claus, forgetting that Banduria needs to be wise in spending and wise in allocating its resources to development that works for all Bandurians, not splashing cash and benefiting the bureaucrats whom our Opposition enjoys feeding, maybe because they realise that these bureaucratic positions would be the cushy positions they wish to occupy in future. Let us get rid of this selfishness, this narrow-mindedness, let us work together, with this people's government, to deliver this Unity budget for the people of Banduria, and let us end this nonsense about not spending enough, because what matters more, is getting things done. Thank you Madam Speaker."
