Likely not.

I can however avoid people not using the assigned app format. I'm not even gonna entertain a review until that issue is fixed.

Because that's not the required application form.

Nope just did it on my own

well you have to use the form provided in the OOC for starters.

I was thinking about it, Corrina personally going after one metaprisoner would require it to be someone of high importance because she has a lot to do (especially all the way in California, when she's British and the rp is currently focused around New York City).

If California is something you're attached to, I imagine it'd be more likely members of her faction would do the rescue rather than her intervening directly

Okay, will you want to rp the faction members or shall I?

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Amalure Davis
Aliases: Ophiuchia (detractors have been know to call her Oviciousia)
    Gender: Female
    Age: 22
    Appearance:
    Image

Six and a half foot tall and genetically manufactured by alien technology.

When she is looking for a boost in her attributes at the expense of shield flexibility and a sword, she has a gauntlet mode, resulting in a secondary costume

    Image

Motivations
Goals: Ophiuchia sees herself as, and projects an image of being the embodiment of the most courageous parts of the american progressive tradition. She has a some worry about meta-humans, as she sees them as an inherent threat to an egalitarian society that must be regulated. Her view is that, ultimately, all meta humans ought to be under strict, direct democratic accountability, but is perfectly fine with acting outside such accountability until that is the norm. Privately, she has individual political ambitions, namely, one day becoming the first meta-human President and the longest serving president, period.
Fears: She fears a world in which she has failed to keep meta-humans from establishing fiefdoms from which they rule the rest of humanity either through personal rule or on behalf of corporations, though this largely stems from a fear of her being seen as having failed.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power:Half-alien aided by an advanced artificial intelligence nanite matrix that usually manifests itself as a sword named Aethelind.

    Powers:

Superior Strength: Strong enough to lift 30t, though will be left exhausted by the effort.

Superior Quickness: 10 times quicker motor control, including reaction times, speed, acceleration than a peak non-Meta Human.

Superior Durability: 10 times better endurance/durability than a peak non-Meta Human, proportional to her increased capabilities.

    Abilities:

Genius Tactician and Strategist: Thanks to her own innate adaptability, attention to detail, critical thinking, ability to learn and A.I. aid, she is incredibly competent in the field of tactics and strategy, though at times can let arrogance get the better of her in planning.

Excellent Swordswoman: Better than anyone except those most elite at developing their craft with swords, is technically gifted but as a consequence of her age lacks the real world experience of a master.

Excellent Martial Artist: Likewise better than anyone except those most elite, has a tendency to use her durability and strength as a shortcut.

Fast and Detailed Learner: Can think 10 times faster than peak non-meta human pace, alongside having eidetic memory.

General Competence: Generally finds herself in the 55th percentile minimum of competence in more or less any task as a consequence of her ability to learn quickly aided by Aethelind

Ruthlessly Machiavellian: Is willing to manipulate anyone/anything to achieve her ends. When faced with a “Trolley problem”, has no issue with metaphorically flipping the switch or otherwise ‘obstructing’ the trolley, no matter the scale.

    Equipment:

    Alien A.I. Nanite Construct, “Aethelind”:

Aethelind’s default form is a sword, but it is a nanite construct of rearranging itself into different forms both by reorganizing its existing mass and converting new mass. This includes creating secondary equipment that it remotely controls.

A secondary form that replaces the primary sword configuration is a Gauntlet Mode. Instead of forming into a sword, Aethelind instead creates an exoskeleton around Ophiuchia, consisting of a Helmet, set of gauntlets, boots and back thrusters, tied together by an airtight suit that exists mostly for maintaining a stable internal environment, but does not provide in of itself much in terms of protection against weapons.

In either form, Aethelind's nanites create a metamaterial shell to endure it's peak energy output.

Aethelind confers additional powers on Ophiuchia additional powers such as:

Anti-Gravity Flight: Capable of flying Ophiuchia at Mach 1.5 and pulling high G maneuvers on one hand and nimble levitation in enclosed spaces on another.

Variable Forcefield (Defense): Creates an invisible until contact forcefield that in passive mode is with 10 times Ophiuchia’s own physical durability. Capable of changing shape with her movements and being adjusted to meet various threats and therefore proportionally increase durability. The forcefield’s reconfiguration speed is a little faster than her own quickness, allowing it to follow her movements.

Variable Forcefield (Offense): The forcefield’s variability also serves as an offensive weapon, it can stretch out into prongs to impact with objects and harden/’spike” itself around her fists, feet, etc.

Variable Forcefield (Detection): The forcefield can act as a secondary means of detection, projecting out a light field that on impact with any object feels creates a light, harmless tingling sensation that gives off red “sparks” and alerts the ARAS. The further out such a field is projected, the more it takes out of the shield.

Augmented Reality Awareness System (ARAS): Ophiuchia wears a set of contacts that gives her "x-ray" vision and a HUD that can provide diagnostic information about her weapon, physical condition and surroundings. Operates additional sensors on her suits to guide forcefield adjustment.

Simple Brain-to-Machine Interface: While she can not read Ophiuchia’s thoughts, Aethelind can receive orders through brain signals, like if one were interacting with a mental touch screen, though far faster. Aethelind can also send signals to Ophiuchia’s brain, in the form of words, but not images or abstract concepts. Basic functions, such as flight, need not even be filtered through A.I.

Highly Competent A.I.: Capable of higher level planning and communicating in all human languages. Deft at social manipulation, particularly through means of digital media.

Resilient Alien A.I.: While by no means invincible, Aethelind is very resilient to attempts to copted into any run away scenario, being an alien A.I. designed with long term stability in mind. Additionally, in the case of “dying” Aethelind has copies of part of itself stored across the internet, even in places only infrequently connected to the internet. These parts can automatically resemble themselves, but on account of being limited by upload speeds, piecing back together such a massive A.I. would take times.

Basic Environmental Regulation: Keeps Ophiuchia in ideal environmental conditions within her forcefield, changing the environment within the forcefield requires penetrating/breaking the forcefield.

Capacity Multiplier (Gauntlet Mode Only): Increases her physical powers by four times, like wise increasing her forcefield strength.

    Weaknesses:

Silicon Vulnerability: When attacked with a Silicon coated/made weapon, Ophiuchia’s durability on impact to her body by said weapon is decreased to that of a peak non-meta human, likewise decreasing her forcefield strength.

Blocking Compatibility: In passive mode, Aethelind’s forcefield field can only block high velocity attacks and energy weapons, with blunt force being most effective, provided it does not enter the range of ‘high velocity’.

Forcefield Stress: Hostile contact, physically or through energy, on the forcefield creates a bright red colouration that emanates from the source of the impact, blocking visible light and longer frequencies. Each impact of sufficient length lowers the strength of the shield comparable to the length of contact and the area that it occurs over, with the shield compensating by shifting density and, therefore also lowering the minimum requirement to penetrate it. Shield requires 10 seconds to fully regenerate, with partial regeneration occurring proportionally over said 10 seconds.

Transmutation Limitations: Aethelind can transmute any matter like a high tech alien 3d printer, but has no special technology to completely sidestep the laws of thermodynamics, it can build and lose mass, but the resulting heat output from doing so ensures the pace it can occur at is limited, ruling out drastic battlefield matter transformations.

Extreme Exertion (Gauntlet mode): Gauntlet mode has more than once caused Ophiuchia to spend nearly all of the following day in Aethelind assisted sleep/coma.

Frozen Field (Gauntlet mode): While Gauntlet mode increases her physical powers and therefore the strength of the forcefield, the ability of the forcefield to beprojected up and away from Ophiuchia is lost everywhere except around the gauntlets, boots, back “thrusters” and Helmet, with reconfiguration otherwise limited to reassigning shield density to image impacts.

Losing Control: The longer Ophiuchia spends around the limits of her physiology, the weaker her inhibitions get, which has the nasty side effect of making her embrace her penchant for viciousness and sadism at the expense of larger goals.

Gravity Limitations: Ophiuchia's maximum shield capacity is accounted for with the use of Aethelind'd anti-gravity capabilities. Meaning that it's only at peak capcity when not used for flight or hovering and is therefore proprotionally weaker when said abilities are in use.

Background:

Job:Left-wing social media influencer/commentator/writer, freelance blogger, Full Time TIAMA hero

    Legal Status: US Citizen

Backstory:Ophiuchia was the codename given to her when found in a californian mountain cave in a small nursery built by Aethelind. Sheis an alien/human hybrid, birthed after Aethelind fell in east california's mountain range and concealed her through her gestation, as relayed by Aethelind. Spotted first by authorities when it entered the atmosphere, they could not track it down until locals made complaints about flashes of light coming from the mountains. Locals apparently investigated, but Aethelind concealed them both until the US military got involved.

She was raised inside Area 51. Originally the plan was to attempt to raise her with a modicum of normality with foster parents, which Aethelind was willing to accept, but upon military authorities recognizing how dangerous she was, they instead ended up coming to an agreement in which she'd more or less be solely raised by Aethelind. This agreement also allowed Ophiuchia a measure of freedom regarding her future endeavours down the line.

As one might imagine, a superpowered half-Alien girl raised by a weapon of mass destruction did not wind up perfectly adjusted. She, on the level, has, in the largest possible sense, a respect for justice, fairness and equality. On a personal level, she is very much a psychopath and a sadist. It's not quite that she is not capable of empathy, otherwise her larger worldview wouldn't be sustainable, it's just she does not see much use for it at a personal level beyond achieving larger ends. This also leads to her being a skilled manipulator.

Regular human beings are rarely a target of hers. She is instead known, particularly among detractors, to eagerly use excessive force against villain meta-humans. Aethelind has cynically commented she gained significant energy savings from convincing Ophiuchia to wear red gloves and boots because "the energy expenditure spent keeping her costume their natural colors in battles was running high".

She is, by no means a joyless person, however and has quite the sense of humor, though it is rather dark. Her civilian name, which she chose in her teens, having gone by her code name up until then, is also a grim inside joke.

Upon the adoption of her civilian name, she was enrolled in 4 years of highschool in Southern California, having acquired a cover story that she had been homeschooled up until then. Advised against participating too much in sports, as a caution against potentially revealing her status as half alien meta-human, she instead took her competitive nature to student politics, while also getting a head start in university courses. By 22, she’d finished her Masters in International Political Economy alongside a Bachelor in Physics.

More importantly for her hero career, she came out as a Superhero and joined TIAMA when she turned 18, though she had long been training. This had a side effect of significantly helping her career as a left wing social media figure. Her use of american imagery in her costume helped make her still publicly friendly enough for sponsorships and some respects it limited her appeal to some on the more america critical left. She has also developed a large, dedicated, (in no small part due to attraction to her) following that's helped do apologetics for her more violent indiscretions when she can't conceal them.

Ophiuchia has a habit of sheathing Aethelind and resorting to punching, choking, kicking and stomping meta-human foes when she feels she has sufficiently weakened them, prefering to finish them off with her own hands. Pleas for mercy, provided that she thinks that only she had heard them, are often treated by her as an invitation to do so until her enemy stops moving. She studiously avoids killing (aethelind's constant diagnostics of foes helps her know when to stop) and crippling and maiming is very rare for her, but not out of the question with those she considers particularly dangerous nuisances. She also avoids situations where her deep sadism can play out in the open, projecting the image of a nice girl scout that one just should know better than to mess with, that can sometimes get a "little'' overzealous.

During friendly spars with other superheroes she is very competitive, but restrains herself from excess, though she restrains herself a bit less with super-heroes she has one thing or another against.

I'm not the OP nor a Co-OP but I have some questions.

First, what Spidermam/Wolverine media did you consume? It seems vastly different from the one I consumed.

Because those powers...not only their levels but also their extreme variety is way beyond Spiderman/Wolverine levels. I think you're heading more into Wonder Woman territory here, if not further.

Not to mention that her weaknesses...well, they don't really seem like weaknesses. The Silicon seems to be an inconvenience at best as not only does she need to get hit by it (sorta hard to do with a mach 1,5 mover) but also grievously injured so she doesn't just regenerate it away. Not to mention that this focua on Silicon probably means that she's invulnerable to evwrything else, yes?

And the other weaknesses? She can be overpowered if something more powerful shows up? Is that a weakness?

Then I'd really like to know why you insist on calling her a half-human-half-alien hybrid. I don't see where the humanity comes from. You aren't automatically human because you look like one. What next?

1. Spiderman literally holds a building from collapsing in the MCU and MCU heroes are nearly all weaker than their comic book versions. My hero is not that strong.

2. Wolverine has regenerated from a drop and blood and survived a nuke in the comics. My hero does not have that regen or that durability.

3. Notice how I did not even reference batman like in the OP? That's because his intellect far surpasses anything I suggest here

4. It's implied, that this hero is a mix of human DNA and alien DNA, which is no more vague than the other origins listed here.

5. In hindsight, based on being spiderman/batman/wolverine range, I could have made my hero even more powerful, as long as I didn't go into "fly fast enough to go backwards in time" territory. Though it's notable that batman can compete with heroes that can do that.

You're right, in thew MCU, Spiderman lifted an AC unit off of him and some concrete, not a whole building I'd say. Comicbook Spiderman topped out at 25 tons. So yeah, I suppose you could've made them stronger.

Cybernetic Socialist Republics wrote:2. Wolverine has regenerated from a drop and blood and survived a nuke in the comics. My hero does not have that regen or that durability.

You'll find that Spiderman can't regenerate despite being rather strong. Wolverine can only max out at 2 tons after all.

Cybernetic Socialist Republics wrote:3. Notice how I did not even reference batman like in the OP? That's because his intellect far surpasses anything I suggest here

Notice how Exil didn't either?

Cybernetic Socialist Republics wrote:4. It's implied, that this hero is a mix of human DNA and alien DNA, which is no more vague than the other origins listed here.

In order:
1. Biological Mutation
2. Machine
3. Metahuman Ancestry
4. Genetic experimentation with meta-gene creating hybrid mutation
5. Descended from an extradimensional being of some description
6. Honestly, he's still not too sure. He's pretty sure it might be magical in origin, but he has yet to even confirm that theory, let alone discover the deeper details.
7. Eirlys doesn’t really know how she got her powers. She just woke up with them after a two week coma.
8. Item from Another Dimension
9. Power from Animals
10. All he knows is that he started to feel control over the fire when he set his foster parents house on fire
11. Genetic experimentation.
12. Unknown
13. An odd machination embedded on the inside of his T6 Vertebrae
14. Hibana is physically enhanced by both internal and external augmentations and sometimes, drugs.
15. Norihiko is physically enhanced by both internal and external augmentations, along with some armor.
16. Death's Blessing
17. Biological Mutation, possibly from metahuman ancestry
18. Exposure to extra-dimensional energy
19. Birth (possible mutation or something genetic.)
20. Electrical Accident as a child, thievery of an electrical robotics suit as an adult.
21. The Skinwalker received their powers through dark magic, filled with hatred, that was inflicted upon them in the hour of their death.
22. Magic
23. Metahuman Ancestry, Government Super Soldier Program
24. A defective prototype of a cloning project that went nowhere.
25. James is an alien, originating from a distant Galaxy.
26. Possessed by the spirit of the Oracle of Delphi

4 out of 26 being rather vague or unexplained isn't exactly considered the majority. And those that are vague at least explain a little bit as to what occured in the bio. In your app, there's nothing to indicate human DNA was involved.

In hindsight, copying and pasting that from the previous 8 iterations I didn't run might have been a mistake. But thankfully due to the NS site code of conduct, I have supreme say over what can fly in this thread.

This is by no means a review of your app, that'll come around in the next few days at best. But keep in mind that characters that try to do too much are looked rather poorly upon.

1. Spiderman also can't fly, doesn't go at mach 1,5, doesn't have X-Ray vision, isn't an extremely good orator, isn't excellent in all martial arts, above average in every field, doesn't regen and also doesn't have a genius nanite AI construct that can among others project shields, shoot lasers, be an armour, or enhance strength, etc.

2. And Wolverine also can't fly, doesn't go at mach 1,5, doesn't have X--ray vision, isn't a great orator, doesn't excell at all martial arts, isn't above average in every field and doesn't have a genius nanite AI construct, can't shoot lasers or enhance his strength further.

3. Yeah, why bring Batman in all of a sudden?

4. Well, it is not so much vague as it doesn't seem to make sense. So the nanite AI crashed on the planet and created her if I got this right. The AI hid her from all the humans till the military showed up. How would the human part come in?

5. On their own few of these powers match up directly. However, you have all of them together at the same time.

Aethelind alone could get you onto the Spiderman/Wolverine powerlevel.

Being excellent in all martial arts alone can get you on the Spiderman/Wolverine powerlevel.

Now pair these two and stack all the rest on top.

Just to make sure, I don't have something against this app. In fact, I'd find the idea of someone rather powerful rather neat.

I merely take offense at it being called Spiderman/Wolverine levels of power.

Powers :

Flight: In the presence of her sword, Aethelind, Ophiuchia is capable of flight up to around Mach 1.5 along with high G maneuvering.

Superhuman Physiology: Ophiuchia is much faster, stronger, more agile than even her impressive physique implies. The best way to explain the extent of her physiology is by pointing to the fact that she can tolerate a sudden acceleration to and stop from her Mach 1.5 flight speed without difficulty. However, significantly beyond those rigors, she is not invulnerable. These powers do not require the presence of Aethelind.

"X-Ray" Vision: While the exact mechanics of how this works is a mystery, she is able to see through objects with the curious exception of silicon. This power requires the presence of Aethelind.

Regeneration: If Ophiuchia see's damage beyond what her physiology can normally tolerate, she can carry out passive regeneration of all damage even without the presence of Aethelind, which does speed up the process. Ophiuchia can regenerate on her own from virtually any injury, however the greater the injury the longer the downtime, even with the presence of Aethelind.

Abilities: Genius tactician and strategist, excellent, though not "best of the best" swordswoman, prefering to instead be excellent (but also not best of the best) across the whole range of martial arts. Very quick to reach, aided by eidetic memory, above average in more or less any field, but still requires the same dedication normally associated with becoming elite in any field, augmented, of course, by her memory and powers. Very compelling orator. Multilingual. Ruthlessly machiavellian.

Equipment: Her sword, Aethelind. A nanite A.I. construct that normally takes the form of a sword that Ophiuchia wields, but is capable of other forms, limited primarily by its current mass. It has for example, formed into a suit of armour. Aethelind, in addition to being swung like a sword, is fully capable of projecting lasers and forcefields, increasing and shrinking it's mass overtime. It can communicate with back and forth without Ophiuchia without verbalization, but can not read her mind. It is more than capable of communicating it's intent in speech, along with higher level planning. If Aethelind forms an exoskeleton around Ophiuchia, it increases her based powers at the expense of limiting the transormative powers of the sword. In addition to Aethelind needing to take time to transform in and out of said form.

Weaknesses: More vulnerable to silicon coated weaponry. It won't, say, block her regenerative capacity, but it will significantly lower the damage she can tolerate when used. Largely vulnerable to the normal operations of Newton's 3 laws and the laws of thermodynamics. As in, if the force she outputs is overcome, she becomes privy to being moved. Aethelind can transmute any matter, build and lose mass, but the resulting heat output will occur, limiting the pace.
[/box]

So, as previously noted, it's not so much the powers, abilities, and equipment that are the problem, rather all of them together. The app from the perspective of these alone seems to be doing too much at once. The most problematic as the app stands in it's current state would mostly be, the flight in combination with everything else, the regeneration in combination with the superhuman physiology (primarily the suggested durability), being above average in every field (which is a bit too vague for my liking), the sheer utility of the sword, and the lack of a noted upper limit for the Superhuman physiology in terms of lifting strength and similar feats.

From a bio perspective it's A-okay. I'm more than willing to work with you in trying to get it to work without bungling too much of it's original concept up. I would strongly suggest throwing out the chaff that isn't really necessary for the character and working from there on the meatier bits.

    Gender:Female
    Age: 22
    Appearance:
    Image

Motivations
Goals: She wants to make a better life for herself and improve the lives of fellow meta humans
Fears: Accidentally killing a friend or loved one.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Poison; also includes Toxins and Venoms
    Powers :
    - Poison Bending/Manipulation: She has the ability to control poison, toxins and venom to her own will.
    - Toxikinesis: She can spit venom and control the toxins in a opponents body.
-Toxokinesis: She has the ability to physically manipulate harmful body and mind-altering substances.
-Toxic Area: She has the ability to project an area of poison that can infect their surroundings
    - Toxikinetic Combat: She can utilize poison in physical combat making her touch potentially fatal, she can use a variety of poisons, ranging from pain-inducing, disorienting, nauseating to lethal poison.
-Venomous Thorns: She has the ability to secrete a gooey substance that upon being released will harden into thorns, she then can launch these thorns to her opponents.
-Poisonous Aura: She can surround herself with a toxic like matter that acts like a shield. She even has a limitation on this ability: for the range of three minutes Emma can even use this ability to enhance himself and deal corrosive damage to others and objects.
Abilities: Hand to hand combat. She’s also quite skilled using her trusty crossbow.
Equipment: A Knife, two daggers and a crossbow.
Weaknesses: Anybody that has a knowledge with medicine and anybody with healing abilities. Some of her abilities if not used correctly can even harm her as well. She can not regenerate by using poison.

Background:
Job: Amateur Vigilante, she fights crime around her part of the city.
Legal Status: She is a American born citizen. She’s occasionally helped the police under the aliases of Venom and Poison woman. Shes currently under investigation from TIAMA, the hero Association as a potential hero.
    Backstory:
She’s a local vigilante. The public knows her as venom or poison woman, but it wasn’t always this way. A native to the city of New York, she was born in Manhattan. An easy childhood, until she was in school. It wasn’t until one day she passed by an abandoned factory in a different section of the city, she was attracted to a foul smell. Upon entering the factory she found barrels upon barrels of poison and other venomous liquids. She got so distracted exploring the factory that she lost track of time and it quickly got dark outside. Trying to find a way out she stumbled upon an unknown object where the barrels of the liquid spilled out. A barrel managed to hit her head and she fell unconscious. Upon regaining her consciousness she found herself in the factory, the only difference was that there was light now from outside and the poison was gone. Unknown to her at the time was that her body had mysteriously absorbed ALL of the poison which under normal circumstances should’ve killed her, but it didn’t. Dazed and confused she managed to leave the factory and continue her daily life. Her newfound abilities were unknown to her until she entered high school. As one day she noticed her skin was secreting a strange substance and it was not sweat, this strange substance attained a horrific odor that she was sent home that day. Confused about it she silently watched her life turn around as she became a target for bullies. Nicknames such as stinky feet and other names circulated among her classmates. Emma persevered and managed to graduate among the top students of his class. That summer she finally accepted her abilities as part of herself and spent a huge amount of time getting to practice and experimenting the extent of her abilities. She eventually went on to college but dropped out at the end of the school year. She would then go from job to job not staying there for very long. It wasn’t until her 21 birthday that she decided to make a name for herself and try to make the world a better place. Using the money that she got from capturing criminals she was able to buy her equipment. A knife, two daggers and her crossbow. She ended up having to teach herself how to use her new equipment and even went to classes for further knowledge on how to use her equipment. From that point on she would go around New York fighting crime and trying to stay under the radar, unfortunately for her, though it was enough for TIAMA to notice and start to investigate her as well.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Jack Dredd
    Aliases: Blink
    Gender: Male
Age: 17 (Presents himself as 18)
    Appearance:
Scrawny, mildly handsome Korean, stands at 6’1 and weighs in at 125 lbs
    Image

Motivations
Goals: Fame, glory, cash, and a healthy dose of altruism
Fears: Afraid of losing himself in the Void.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Attachment to extradimensional being

    Powers :
The Void: The Void is a dimension that runs nearly directly under ours. Here, time and space don’t follow our rules; a day there is about a second here. Navigating the Void is difficult. One must firmly have a destination in mind when entering. When exiting, they’ll be there. Jack can sink into this Void, and is capable of navigating it with quite some proficiency. If he can see a place, he can get there, regardless of little things like walls or doors. He can also use it to get to places he is already familiar with, though this takes slightly longer than by line of sight. This ability also doesn’t work through cameras.

Friends on the other side: The nature of time in the void is strange. From time to time, Jack swears something his telling him trouble’s on it’s way. Roughly a half second before he’s attacked, Jack gets a feeling that he needs to move.

    Abilities: N/A

    Equipment:
Dagger roughly 12 inches in length meant for stabbing.

    Weaknesses:
The draw: When entering the Void, Jack feels compelled to stay. If he’s beaten up enough, he might give in. While the amount of pain required is heavily situational, but is generally on the level of two or three broken bones, severe internal bleeding, or major psychic attacks.
Blinding: Jack can’t go where he can’t see, at least not midfight. Smoke, dust, steam, or any other vision obstructing substance limit him severely. In addition, any remaining particulates in his eyes after the smoke clears will block his powers. If his eyes are watering, he probably can't enter the Void.

Background:
    Job: Pizza delivery
    Legal Status: Technically a vigilante.
Backstory: Chicago’s a mean city. Maybe not in the cushy, rich neighborhoods, but that was about the opposite of Jack’s side of town. Jack contended with thugs and goons every other week, mostly out of a foolish refusal to back down, regardless of actual physical ability. Needless to say, he often had to explain bruises to concerned parents. When he was 16, a particularly ferocious beating ended weirdly; halfway through, he felt warm, comfortable. Safe. He wondered what had happened. Maybe closing his eyes had killed him. He opened them to something he’s never quite been able to describe to someone who hasn’t been besides “beautiful”. He stayed for what seemed like hours. The pain didn’t fade, but he didn’t much care. It was nice in there. Finally, his ribs aching and his jaw stinging, he thought of home. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them, he was home. Bleeding, bruised, and filled with a longing he couldn’t quite place, but home.

He spent a long time trying to get back to that place, trying everything he could. He even paid someone to beat the ever living shit out of him. He was both sorely disappointed and out twenty bucks when it didn’t work. Finally, one day, he realized he’d locked himself out of the house in the dead of winter. Looking through the window, he’d never wanted to be somewhere more than his warm bed. He blinked, and that’s where he was. With this trick figured out, he made a decision. Heroes existed now. Why not join up? He got in contact with TIAMA, and was promptly turned down as a hero for inexperience. Instead, they offered him a spot in an academy. He didn't much like being told he wasn't good enough; that alone was enough to put him off any school they operated. Instead, he went into the vigilante line of work, and promptly realized he should've gone to the academy. He spent the better part of a year learning to use his power, getting his ass kicked along the way but more importantly learning to kick ass. After building something of a name for himself, both for his vigilante work and subsequent avoidance of the police, TIAMA were much more interested.

Anowa wrote:So, as previously noted, it's not so much the powers, abilities, and equipment that are the problem, rather all of them together.

I guess I was being too vague.

Firstly, flight is tied entirely to the sword, it does not can not happen with it. This is fundamentally no different that superhero with an exo-skeleton that gives them the power of flight and the ability to withstand the rigors of that.

Regeneration is, to be fair, a bit vague and almost redundant and I get dropping it.

When I say above average in any field, I mean, like, being 55th percentile in anything she puts in effort into, I don't mean anything drastic. We're talking about someone who is a quick competent learner, but isn't exactly becoming a master at anything putting in the work a normal person would.

The sword can shapeshift, yes, which is precisely why I limited it's capacity to shape-shift by not giving it some super science ability to avoid conservation of mass nore escape from the fact that anything changing form quickly would realistically create immense amounts of heat energy. I could get into the numbers for it, but basically what I'm trying to get across is that a drastic change in form is not the type of thing that could occur in the midst of the battle.

The upper limit to superhuman physiology is, like I said, enough to stand the rigors of 1.5 Mach flight and a bit above that. For example, a sudden stop into a solid surface at that speed by her (let's say she's 250 pounds), would release a force about 3.5 kg of TNT, which is basically the force of a grenade, that's measuring durability. I don't think that is all that extreme. It's not like we're talking about hitting force, either. I'd give her a 10 m/s² acceleration, which means she'd need like 13 km and 50 seconds to fly at someone with the force of a grenade.

Anyway from that durability, we're talking about surviving roughly 10 times what a normal human being can do, already accounting for the fact that after she does this, she isn't injured. Then, scaling everything also physiology wise, around roughly 10 times what a normal human being can do" that would give her a lifting power of a little under a metric tonne, which is like, half of what is needed to lift the average car. Again, not all that strong for a superhero.

If we're going after normal human x10, x10 an elite professional boxer would mean a punching, like 17000 PSI, which is like, less than half of what's needed to break steel, again, not extremely strong for a superhero.

My goal here, was essentially making a hero in the mold of upper tier heroes, but powered way down and essentially given the weakness of not being able to hand wave the impact of the sort of things normally handwaved with superheroes.

I get if I need to put clearer weaknesses and limits, though.

Name : Jeronimo Rivera

Aliases : None as of yet.

Gender : Cis Male

Age : 15

Appearance : http://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=DlPFkMTa&id=D62359E1E83987DB846A2BFB7A3508BAB8DE5C3A&thid=OIP.DlPFkMTaax87M_GmJW-MyAHaLI&mediaurl=https%3a%2f%2fs-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com%2foriginals%2fc0%2f7a%2f38%2fc07a38d2e37f6fb1e7f98edcb1a5fdde.jpg&exph=1203&expw=800&q=latin+teen+male+actor&simid=608046736138899355&selectedIndex=126

Goals : Liberty. Plain and simple. He wants the freedom to decide when he will sleep, when he will eat and when he can die. He is fed up with being controlled and just wants to live a peaceful life where he can pursue his passions, whatever they be. He wants to be normal, at least in the way where he can walk to the corner store without having anybody ask him where he is going and why. He wants to be able to finally stay in one place for some time and have it be a place he enjoys being.

He's fascinated by the idea of being an all powerful wizard because of what he has seen in things like movies and wants to grow his powers to their highest pinnacles. If it is possible, he yearns to eventually be among the most powerful and knowledgeable people that has ever been. One of his fantasies is knowing being renown for his knowledge of academia, some of the fields that fascinate him being magic, religion & folklore.

He would like to grow taller some day. He'd like to be very healthy, maybe start working out to get one of those Greek statue bodies he's always liked (minus the miniscule...well...). Really, he just wants the life he never had. Fantasies beyond reckoning, things he never dreamed of. He really wants to be the best version of himself he could possibly be. We could go on. Revenge is certainly lurking there as something he contemplates but I kind of liked focusing more on the positives.

Fears : 1. Situations and institutions notorious for lack of transparency and lack of recourse. Examples : Grouphomes, orphanages, boarding schools, private schools, prisons, mental institutions. He has heard stories and has personal experience with these types of situations and so he fears these things not just because of the abuses that happen. It is also because people in these situations have notoriously low levels of advocacy/legal recourse. He knows first hand how little attention society and the media pay these issues and fears being in a situation like that, knowing how little anybody would actually care.

2. The use of physical force. He HATES being grabbed. Absolutely loathes it. He hates it especially when someone with power uses or threatens to use physical force on someone, be they police (ESPECIALLY police), bullies, criminals, military groups, etc. It isn't so much the idea of being hurt that scares him, in fact, even death is actually a minuscule fear in his mind compared to the REAL scary part. The part he loathes the idea of the most is being forced by threat or otherwise into complying with something he doesn't want to do.

The idea of a swat team forcing him into compliance fills him with dread, the idea of being arrested is anathema to him. Scenes on television involving things like twisting someone's arm to get what you want or sexual abuse make him intensely uncomfortable. He hates and fears guns and weapons for these reasons, the sight of handcuffs leaves him with a bad taste in his mouth. The idea of being pinned or restrained just makes him want to vomit.

3. Police. He doesn't like them in the slightest. Nor does he have a fondness for any group that has anything remotely in common with them. This is almost really a repetition of his other fears because all the other fears have some connection with these groups of people. He hates and fears these groups because of the lack of accountability they seem to posses. He fears being subject to abuse by figures of power and the idea that no one would care in the slightest.

He hates the idea that any person could do anything they wanted to and there would be no one anywhere that cared enough to question them. Again, his fear is not DEATH by these figures of power. That would be a merciful blessing in comparison to his real fear. The real fear is that they could do anything they wanted to him and there would be no one who would want/be able to question it.

He fears a figure with so much influence, coercive power, protection, etc. A figure untouchable and that can do wrong. It is for similar reasons he fears other groups such as the government. It's one thing to be kidnapped by criminals and everybody is worried about you/have people actively rooting for justice to be delivered for you. To be seen as a 'suspected terrorist' and 'retiring from social view' (disappeared by the government to Guantanamo or Area 51) is another thing in its entirety to him.

4. Perpetual mistreatment. Having heard stories and having had personal experience with this kind of situation, it is a distant, if however still present fear. This is almost a culmination of all his other fears into a world of infinite suck. He fears being perpetually subjected to mistreatment and being unable to escape. This is quite similar to the first fear but in a different light. Part of why he hates the idea of institutions such as prisons and mental hospitals is because not only are options for improving your situation limited, but you might suffer for a very long time. Among his worst fears is being in a straight jacket. In situations so restrictive you might live many years preferring to die, but being unable to do so due to constantly being monitored or confined.

Source of Power : Chosen by unspecified gods to be blessed with special relationship/talent with magic and the occult.

Powers :

1? Supernatural compatibility and facility : Has potential to access a seemingly infinite variety of supernatural power sources. Examples include sacred rituals, holy gestures, magical words, occult objects, celestial bodies, places of paranormal power, powerful supernatural forces (energies, deities, etc), spiritual symbols, and so on. The primary and original source(s?) of his powers without certain other factors involved can't actually muster up much power, at least, not when he first just begins using his powers on a somewhat regular basis. This power isn't really that much of a power, so much as...more of an explanation of how his other powers work. This power is more to sort of chain the others together by a common thread. This power is the SOURCE of the others in a way. Basically he is compatible with all things supernatural, having unrivaled potential for growth in this respect. His powers can grow to the very highest limits within his own and the rp rules's constraints (eventually, though I suspect that may be a somewhat long way off).

2. Dimensional/planar interaction and travel : Can become incorporeal (not affected by most physical forces) and travel through solid objects. His body disappears for the duration of the power and is invisible unless significant effort and energy is expended to give himself an appearance. Having no physical body, interacting with him physically is a non option but it also means the physical world is quite difficult to touch as well. This power works differently in the beginning than when he'd have fine understanding of it. He often enters a form of this state involuntarily when he sleeps.

He can travel into the minds and dreams of others, able to view them similar to how he can view himself through this power. Emotional and physical venerability make this application easier to execute, him not able to do as much when someone is awake and resisting. Many people will be able to tell immediately that something is wrong and will feel immediately that there's somebody else in their VERY personal space and assuming they did not give permission beforehand, he can be damaged if a person's resistance becomes volatile enough.

He can't effect anybody physically directly through this power alone, though effects on things such as people's emotions or psyche are fair game which itself has some effect on the body. Actual interaction however remains very much under the purview of other powers. This power is notoriously dangerous because this is basically him in the state of being pure soul. Depending on the situation, this power has varying costs. This basically means that as far as his soul goes, what happens in his dreams '(the dream realm') to him has actual consequences for him. He may actually accidentally kill himself (permanently) if he has a nightmare where he dies. On the other hand, attempting to enter this kind of traveling form when not sleeping is actually more difficult, generally needing practice and training, perhaps tools and other contributing factors to enable this state of being.

If self directed, this ability allows him to explore his self in ways impossible to most. Examples of this include digging up memories long abandoned, discovering wants or fears he hid even from himself, talking to younger versions of his own psyche, examining personifications of his own personality traits, etc. This power allows him to shift into other dimensions/planes of existence (astral, ethereal, death, heaven, hell, etc). Possessing a person or thing is possible, however attempting it on a person is highly difficult to do and very dangerous for aforementioned reasons among others.

In the event of his own physical death, he enters this state permanently. If his soul is damaged enough or in the right way, he may not be able to return to the physical world (assuming a physical body is still something he possesses). Soul damage can result in a variety of unwanted consequences, ranging from permanently weakened powers to nigh irreversible soul rending, depending on what exactly happens to him. If the soul is damaged enough, he may not be able to reform his physical body enough to return to the physical plane.

Making out his surroundings is difficult while using this power, requiring training to properly sift through distracting sensations, energies, sights, emotions and the often times mind boggling nature of different modes of existence. When using this power and in the physical world, organic beings can sense him on some levels. What exactly they sense depends on his emotional state and what their relationship is with him. Most people will only have knowledge of his presence in things like the sensation of being watched or that there is someone in the room with them. How he is detected varies by certain factors, individuals such as mediums and so on will get different results.

2. Soul and information capacity : Cannot heal physical damage to much of a physical body through this power but can instead interact with souls (typically of the dead). He can place them in suitable bodies or other vessels, can recreate souls and memories, nonstandard souls and their elements such as technological data and memory are not exempt from this. He can delete memories, insert false ones, and rewrite the soul/brain to change beings in drastic ways. This power in itself cannot so much 'resurrect' the dead but if there's a place to put their being, he can do the rest of the job. Using this power in CAN be done in conjunction with others, though that is a more difficult task.

He can change a being by quite a lot, re-wiring the brain, changing neural vectors (or an alternative way like rearranging data for non organics). Unless he is rendered too damaged in soul/memory (or in the right way) to even have a consciousness, he can even heal himself in this way. This power is is directed largely by intention and visualization so the more vague an intention is, the less powerful it is. Knowledge of brain structure, soul composition, etc is needed the more drastic of changes he might want to implement. This power is concentration intensive and he must generally be in close physical contact with a person to do anything to their memories/spirit.

3. Organic healing facility : Can manipulate biological elements in animal bodies to repair damage. The larger and more complex an animal is, the harder it can be to heal. The power can only be used on one organism at a time and the speed and amount at which it heals is limited. The stage of death and condition of the body is very important to successful restoration. Taking a human as an example, once the bacteria in their gut has eaten away enough of them, he can't heal them faster than their body eats away at itself. The power also has limits on how many facets of healing it can induce at one time so even if he were to say, successfully regrow important organ tissue, that doesn't mean another form of bodily harm will be healed or won't counteract attempts at restoration.

Essentially just because the power can flood the body with antibodies doesn't mean it will be creating red blood cells at the same time. This power's precision and power is also limited by his biological knowledge. The power is focus intensive so using it in conjunction with other powers is unlikely if not impossible. This power among others in particular has emotions as an important factor, personality and talent being important to this power. On the smaller end of his beginning skill/talent with this power is resurrecting a butterfly, curing someone's cancer, mending bones, saving his dying dog.

4. Electric/energy manipulation : Can generate electrical energy around his body, typically focused through finger tips. Control is affected by mindset and emotional state, sometimes causing electronics to short out around him when upset. This power is a sort of relationship with a metaphysical concept of power or energy so it is not limited to the generation of lightning from hands but generating body energy (calories, ATP, glucose, etc), interacting with Jules, watts and so on. Range of power goes from microscopic to a power outage a city wide. Can remove energy from things and move it around. Can be overloaded to dangerous levels with outside energy if attempting absorption. Sometimes imprecise as a power so if he tried to restart someone's heart, it might be good to get an actual professional to tell him what voltage to give or else he might simply fry somebody's chest.

Abilities : Nothing really yet actually, I have plans for what he WILL be good at...

Equipment : Nothing rare.

Weaknesses : 1. He's just starting out. He's had these talents all along but is only recently deciding to make an active effort to explore them. Basically his powers are no good in a fight at this moment.

2. Complex power usage requires a bachelors in-. His powers's precision is affected by knowledge of certain things he doesn't have the access to. If for instance he wants to perform some tricky surgery on somebody, his vague intention of waving it away with a wand may not suffice. He'd need someone with a degree in biology or something to tell him important details or else he might just make the situation worse. His education does not currently span past High School.

3. "Requires a virgin sacrifice while mercury is in retrograde on a site of mass death, a wand-" The higher limits of things such as his powers's magnitude, is at the moment at least, inaccessible to him. To even attempt grand things such as creating new souls or power outages and the like, he requires power sources other than his talent/emotion and so on. Must commune with places of power, supernatural figures, celestial bodies/events. His best usage of abilities often require magic gestures, incantations, and a magic space set up.

4. Gestures, words, concentration, etc. Similar to the last weakness but just different implications. When just starting out with his powers, certain factors previously mentioned act like training wheels. They can be a hindrance because not everybody else faces these restrictions. Guns are faster than incantations, if he is disoriented, nothing might happen. If he gets tremors in the hand, just how will he cope?

5. Utility focused. Really he's better off being a support character or a sidekick. Most of the powers he is currently developing have little to no usefulness in battle, at least at the levels they are at now.

6. "Is melee some deity I haven't heard of yet?". His powers have limited close range application and he has no combat training in martial arts or anything actually. Assuming you can conjure lightning, will it help you win the wrestling tournament?

7. Representative of the lollipop guild. Is short and skinny due to a variety of factors including genetics and being from a third world country. Has depression and doesn't eat a lot/very well. Is also still just a teenager so... He's not exactly big, strong, tall or heavy.

8. I'm gonna whoop your as* when I get done reading this incantation. Because he's just beginning to develop his abilities, he will for a time likely require some kind of guidance to look to in using his powers. I hypothesize that this will be some sort of spell book at some point. This may only be a hindrance for a short time, or a time longer. (I'll work with GMs for an appropriate learning progression).

This may mean that he will struggle to act in a timely manner because he must read through his spellbook to find the right magic words. The book will keep his hands busy and will hinder his movement because reading and running from danger at the same time is kind of hard to do. If the book leaves his hands it may cause the power being called up to fizzle out or perhaps have some unintended consequences.

9. Aoe is some kind of internet emailing thing right? The offensive capacity of his powers is limited in general but what he does posses in offense is not very well suited for fighting multiple opponents. At least, at this time and if he were to be surrounded. Even the manipulation of lightning, when it would become available is inaccurate against multiple mobile targets.

10. What's Abjuration? His powers are not all that well suited towards defense, even at the point of fine control.

Background : Minor. With an O. It's not really just his background actually, it still applies.

Job : None.

Legal Status : Illegal. Literally, him just choosing to be born in another country is a crime. It's even worse because his parents brought him into the U.S. illegally when he was too young to even be able to conceptualize the concepts of legality and nationhood. Soon to be a runaway minor and possible fugitive from the law. Will likely be labeled as wanted for multiple accounts of muder.

Backstory : Born in Central America, had more unexplained events happen around him than the people around him were comfortable with. While some saw him more in the light of a miracle working saint, others saw him as a witch who was possessed by demons. In a country with high religiosity and little in the way of law enforcement, his parents eventually had to flee the country with him lest the rumored inquisition burn their house down or something. That's how he ended up in California. His parents were strict. Very strict. His talents did not endear him to the community nor his parents. They were fed up with him and his rebellious, sinful ways, or so they said. "Malcriado" was among many other things they called him. He grew up to be something of an angry child, his parents choosing to shirk the responsibility of raising a "wizard".

They gave him up to the foster care system which was something he would never forgive them for. He went from house to house, hating every one of them and they in turn also hating him back, or at least, not caring enough about him to keep him. Fortune never quite smiled upon him as each place found excuses not to have to keep him. There was one place however that kept him, the one place he was the LEAST happy to stay in. A grouphome. Throughout the years he had various run-ins with the law, most of which were not because of anything he did wrong on purpose. Often it was through false accusations, biases, or some other thing.

Often times it was something silly at school and/or police having nothing better to do than to apprehend a preteen breaking curfew or not coming home on time. Sometimes it was something he DID do, though evidence was frequently something not too solid because it was done via magic (which scientifically speaking does not even exist). He would grow much hatred for the legal system from his experiences. He was bullied and picked on a lot, fighting back/standing up for himself being what was frowned upon, more than who started it.

One of the reasons he was still staying put in that grouphome was because he was too afraid of what life would be like as a runaway/fugitive of the law. Finding his breaking point, he lashed out with his abilities and found his way out of there despite his reservations. Quite unfortunate that he could not dispose of the bodies he left behind because when they were discovered, he was not. His absence during questioning over the deaths left little doubt in mind that "the witch" had done it.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations

Goals: Emma doesn't really have a major goal per say. She just wants to lower crime rates and build a better society, as well as be a positive role model for girls and women who see her on TV and in the news. Really, the reason why she took up the mantle and unique persona of "Jester" was to entertain people and make them smile, and if she managed to brighten up one person's day as a result of her heroic pursuits, then it's a complete success of a day in her book.

Fears: Death is her ultimate fear, whether it's her own death, or someone else's death at the hands of her own bad call or fumble.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Source of Power: She has metahuman ancestry, and a result, was able to inherit her powers genetically.

    Powers :
    • Illusion Generation: Emma's powers revolve around fooling and tricking others through the use of illusions and mirages. The most basic form of this power is the Illusion Generation, where she casts out an illusion that tricks the viewer's mind into seeing, hearing, and feeling things that aren't actually there. This can range from anything to a spider on their shoulder, to a wrecking ball smashing through the wall, to a dozen clones of Emma that are practically indistinguishable from the real one, to a reduction of pain from an ally's wound. She can transmit these illusions to either one single person or multiple people, although it is much easier to convince two or three people that they're seeing things versus twenty or thirty.

    • Illusion-Based Mimicry: A more advanced form of the illusion-casting ability is illusion-based mimicry, or shapeshifting. Emma can transform her entire body or parts of her body into various shapes and sizes, including people, animals, plants, inanimate objects, and even thin air, essentially going invisible. Her imagination is the limit. Upon transforming, she retains the appearance, sound, smell, feeling, etc. of whatever she shapeshifted into, but will not retain innate qualities or powers. To provide examples, while she can transform her body to look like a brick wall, a punch to that brick wall, while it will likely bounce off and injure the attacker's hand, will also hurt on her end, and if the pain/injury is severe enough, it can break her concentration and force her back into human form. Or, if she was to transform into another metahuman, while she would capture the appearance-based attributes of that metahuman, she would not gain their strength, powers, or knowledge. It's a double-edged sword, as while it prevents her from the risk of death or injury if she turns into something fragile like a sheet of glass, it also limits the effectiveness of certain forms of the mimicry.

    • Money Makes the World Go Round: Simply put, thanks to her status as the heiress of a massive shipping empire, Emma has a lot of money, and connections too, those connections are pretty helpful. While she's not exactly involved in the day-to-day operations of the company, preferring to hand that responsibility over to her older and wiser brothers, she enjoys her cut of the estate quite a bit, and often uses it for R&D. This has helped her create a vast assortment of gadgets and gizmos disguised as toys and magic tricks that she often uses in her heroic expeditions, something which has caught many a headline over the months.

    Abilities:
    • Baton Twirling: Thanks to years as a competitive baton twirler, Emma is very adept with a...baton. She can perform an array of tosses, flips, skips, leaps, and swings that make her surprisingly threatening with a baton at close-range. It's not just limited to batons either; Emma has also twirled with prop rifles, sabres, and machetes, so using a longer weapon such as a staff is not outside of her capabilities either.

    • General Athleticism: Baton twirling and color guard are two arts that are very physically demanding, requiring excellent gymnastics skills and physical fitness in order to pull off. As a result, despite a few injuries over the years, Emma is in excellent shape, and is incredibly nimble and agile on the field.

    • Juggling?: Uh...she can pull off a mean juggle? Seriously, it's pretty insane, she can juggle tennis balls, clubs, rings, knives, torches, cigar boxes, whatever the hell she needs to. It's pretty menacing and flashy, even if it's a little bit useless sometimes.

    Equipment:
    • Costume: As pictured in the Appearance section, Emma wears a rather inconspicuous hero's costume, a set of formal clothing that makes her look more at home in a Las Vegas Casino rather than the streets of Brooklyn. So what's so special about it? Well, the suit actually contains Lycra that is interwoven with steel fibers, allowing for a surprisingly flexible outfit that helps protect from certain sharp and blunt traumas. It's certainly not bulletproof by any stretch, but to a fist or blade, it is a fairly solid counter. It's also specially treated to be waterproof and resistant against electricity, especially in the costume's gloves. Fireproofing is...something she's working at the moment, she hasn't quite gotten there yet.

    • The Arsenal: The Arsenal is Emma's selection of cutesy, toy-based weaponry that isn't so cutesy once you're on the receiving end of it. Generally, Emma only has room to take four of these at once, due to the limited space constraints of her costume. These weapons include the following:
      • Jackknives: They're...jackknives. Three of them to be exact. They're great for entertaining people with juggling and flip tricks, but they can also be handy weapons in a pinch.
      • Razor Cards: What might look like a standard deck of Bicycle playing cards is actually a deck of deadly weapons. Each card has a sharp metal blade that is subtly coated along the edge of the card, and they can cause nasty wounds if aimed correctly. They're not even that much sharper than the average hunting knife, but their light weight and special aerodynamic quality makes them a more compact, harder to hit version of a throwing knife.
      • The Magic Wand: What appears to be a standard "magic wand" is actually a painted steel baton, and it can hurt like crazy if one is struck by it. It contains a thin rubber grip on one end for extra safety, as well as a button on the end that triggers off "shock mode", electrifying the contact section of the baton. She can control the current's power with a small dial located on the rubber grip, adjusting it on a scale of anywhere from 0 to 2000 milliamps, depending on the opponent she's facing. A second button, located on the opposite side of the grip from the dial, allows the baton to extend into a six-foot quarterstaff, perfect for keeping the enemy at a distance. However, wielding a six-foot pole of electricity is generally a...poor idea, so whenever she extends her baton, she's essentially sacrificing the shock power for extra length.
      • Yo-Yo Grapple: Exactly what it sounds like. The yo-yo contains ninety feet of a special nylon string, one that can carry up to 200 lbs. The yo-yo itself is motorized and can clip onto either Emma's belt or a metal prong on the wrist of her glove. Additionally, there's also a special, hidden feature to the yo-yo; press both sides down simultaneously, yank the string three times, and five seconds later, the yo-yo will blow up with the power of a standard grenade. It's pretty neat, although it does destroy the grappling hook.
      • Bombs: Bombs, bombs, bombs galore. She has several different types of bombs hidden inside several color-coded bouncy balls that are usually used for juggling and minor magic tricks. Red balls are standard explosives, around as powerful as the average grenade. They're basically just used for knockbacks, stunning, and distractions. The blue balls are used as flashbangs, creating a sudden bright light that can be very disorienting. Finally, the green balls are smoke bombs, releasing a thick cloud of acrid haze that can be quite pesky to get rid of.
      • Ring Bug: In the world of magic, it's very common for magicians to use thumb sleeves or other light-up tools to create the illusion of magical lights every time they snap their fingers, press them together, etc. Emma uses a ring that gives off a red glow every time the jewel in the middle is pressed. However, the ring also doubles as a microphone, allowing her to bug and snoop on her enemies.
      • Drill Top: Emma carries a large, motorized top that doubles as a high-powered drill. While it's mostly used for actual surfaces, if push comes to shove, it can be used as an effective, albeit slightly gory weapon.
      • Chalkboard: A popular act in Emma's magic show is the chalkboard scene, where messages from spirits and ghosts appear to write words on a chalkboard. However, this chalkboard can also double as a nifty shield that is able to take damage from bullets and knives. Unfortunately though, it's quite heavy and cumbersome, and as a result, she doesn't bring it into combat very often.

    Weaknesses:
    • Human: Money can't buy invulnerability or immortality quite yet, and as a result, Emma is still as squishy as a regular human being. Her costume gives her a bit more defense than the average person, but it's still fairly easy to break through, and doesn't improve her physical strength, speed, or stamina in any way. She has to rely on her expensive toys if she wants to do any real damage.

    • See-Through: It's important to note that while Emma's illusions can be very realistic and are adept at triggering sensory responses in others, those responses disappear if one is to realize or become aware that what they are seeing or feeling is an illusion or mirage. To relate to the earlier example of a brick wall, if someone not consciously aware of the illusion ran into that brick wall, their brain would force them to bounce off and fall back. However, if someone is consciously aware of the illusion, then they will phase right through the wall. As a result, her powers can be easily countered by the well-prepared or the mentally acute, forcing her to play smart in order to keep her illusions functional.

    • Large Crowds: Casting an illusion to one person is fairly easy, as you're only fooling one pair of eyes that are connected to one brain. Fooling twenty pairs of eyes connected to twenty brains is much harder. Fooling fifty pairs of eyes connected to fifty brains is even more difficult than that. While the illusion will be similar, it will not be perfectly uniform across all fifty people, and will create inconsistencies and errors that give up the ruse fairly quick.

    • Complex Illusions: Obviously, it is much harder to pull off certain illusions versus others. Creating the illusion of a puddle of water on the ground is much more difficult than creating the illusion of a tank barging down a street, and while there is no major "energy drain" so to speak (she can become mentally tired or exhausted, but her physical stamina will not be affected), it is very easy for her to make clumsy errors while attempting to pull off complex figures. For example, if she wants to create the illusion of her firing off an AK-47, she not only has to create the illusion of the gun, but the auditory illusion of the gunfire, the visual illusion of the bullets coming from the gun, and the resulting bullet holes in the wall. If she misses one of these elements, then it very clearly gives away the illusionary nature of her mirages.

Background:
Job: Emma is a fairly successful magic act when she's not beating up bad guys, performing mostly in the NYC area.
Legal Status: US Citizen, with no criminal record to speak of.

Backstory: Emmeline Davis was born in Brooklyn, NY, the youngest child born to two wealthy shipping moguls. As a kid, she had everything she could've ever wanted for, any toy, any gift, anything. With a wave of the hand, she could move mountains of cash, and never had to lift a finger for anything. As a result, her childhood was fairly calm and relaxed, the only noteworthy part of it being her powers, and the only issue of it being the crippling boredom that comes when you have everything. Her two older brothers put the boredom towards parties that would make Andy Warhol's Factory orgies look like a housewarming get-together, while Emma put her energy towards one thing; twirling.

Emma had been twirling since she was young, and was in love with the sport. She competed as part of her high school's color guard, and spent most of her free time practicing for her next event. She performed at competitions, parades, sports games, wherever, whenever. She loved the sport, and devoted most of her life to practicing at almost any opportunity she could. She was practically a rockstar in the field...until she injured her knee. And her ankle. And her elbow. A lot of injuries, to be honest, most of which healed over time, but basically prevented her from competing on the level she once had. She was destroyed, and spent a few months directionless, looking for any sort of sign for what to do with her rich, miserable life. When you were a teenager with powers, and your main passion is destroyed, you have two options: find another one, or become a superhero. She chose the latter, and her parents shipped her off to a Metahuman Academy.

She graduated at the age of 18, and took a few years to find her footing. She picked up a pretty solid gig as a magician, putting her illusionary skills to good use, and soon became very well in-demand across the city. During her non-gig downtime, she worked to get sponsorship from TIAMA, and after three years of squabbling and taking care of the finest D-list criminals that NYC had to offer, she soon became a TIAMA-sponsored hero working under the moniker of "Houdini".

Unfortunately, things took a wrong turn quickly. Thanks to the very non-offensive nature of her powers, she began to have trouble keeping up with the threats and perils of the city, and took loss after loss, including the loss of her parents, who were killed in what was widely suspected and rumored to be an ordered hit by a rival business. The family was devastated, yet they didn't have time to grieve. The will needed to be executed, the estate had to be divided, and somebody had to take over in the company. Her two older brothers left the party lifestyle to take a leadership role within the shipping business, while Emma took her share of the estate and invested it in some new, fancy equipment, giving her an entire offensive arsenal for crime-fighting. She re-branded herself as "Jester", and set off on a new era of heroism, bringing herself back out of another slump in her life and finally achieving success as a sponsored hero. She's still a sponsored hero today, with TIAMA being the only people aware of her true identity. By day, her life is fairly mundane, a fairly entertaining position as a professional magician. By night, a whole other beast comes out entirely, and Jester is the one that roams the streets.

Ok, first off all, use the app format, it's there for a reason, unless you do it, the app will be rejected no matter what, it's a requirement not a suggestion

(minus the miniscule...well...).

( ok, let's start off humorously to ease the tension ) Hey! You're offending ancient Greek beauty standards, for them was the smaller the better

Revenge is certainly lurking there as something he contemplates but I kind of liked focusing more on the positives.

So, is it there, or is it not?

unspecified gods

Specify

1? Supernatural compatibility and facility : Has potential to access a seemingly infinite variety of supernatural power sources. Examples include sacred rituals, holy gestures, magical words, occult objects, celestial bodies, places of paranormal power, powerful supernatural forces (energies, deities, etc), spiritual symbols, and so on

Ok, a lot of clarification is in order, what do you mean by celestial bodies, can he just throw planets around?! Also, sacred rituals? Can he go to a mass and suddenly be more powerful like some kind of powerup, also, please choose occult or holy? As occult stuff is usually considered not okay in many religions

This power isn't really that much of a power, so much as...more of an explanation of how his other powers work

Good, so, what is it doing in the powers section?

though effects on things such as people's emotions or psyche are fair game which itself has some effect on the body

So, it's a form of mind control? Which is banned

He can delete memories, insert false ones, and rewrite the soul/brain to change beings in drastic ways.

So, it's a form of mind control? Which is banned

3. Organic healing facility
4. Electric/energy manipulation

This doesn't fit, the powers are mainly focused on the soul? So, this just looks like an attempt to veer into other fields

Born in Central America, had more unexplained events happen around him than the people around him were comfortable with. While some saw him more in the light of a miracle working saint, others saw him as a witch who was possessed by demons. In a country with high religiosity and little in the way of law enforcement, his parents eventually had to flee the country with him lest the rumored inquisition burn their house down or something

Stereotyping much? Ok, gonna say it, this section basically screams stereotypes, please, do not use stereotypes

or so they said. "Malcriado"

I know this is supposed to sound cool, but it means bad mannered or spoiled

Anyway, overall his backstory seems very edgy ranty, it's composed of complaining about government institutions parsed with what the character did

Cybernetic Socialist Republics wrote:The sword can shapeshift, yes, which is precisely why I limited it's capacity to shape-shift by not giving it some super science ability to avoid conservation of mass nore escape from the fact that anything changing form quickly would realistically create immense amounts of heat energy. I could get into the numbers for it, but basically what I'm trying to get across is that a drastic change in form is not the type of thing that could occur in the midst of the battle.

So, understanding this, the sword cannot form armor in the midst of a fight?

That just leaves the concern of it being both a sword, laser weapon and forcefield generator. I would like to ask what constitutes a force field, and how 'strong' it would be.

Outside of this, I would prefer a possible expansion on the silicon weakness. And a removal of the apparent weakness to being... moved. That's not really a weakness to be honest.

Understanding that her skills are 55th Percentile, I would still like a list of the language she knows.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Emma Greenwood
Aliases: Venom, Poison Woman (If someone can come up with something better that’ll be great)
Gender:Female

So, basic thing not a huge deal but, you missed changing over some of the pronouns from he/him to she/her and it got a little confusing

Jerno wrote:-Poisonous Healing: She can heal himself and his allies by using poison (only if they happen to BE poisoned). this ability can unintentionally poison the recipient, but it happening is a really low possibility. Poisonous Healing has a limitation of two minutes.

So it might be just me being dense, but I don't really under this part. How does a poison heal someone? Is it an anti-venom situation or an actual wound healing? If the target has to be poisoned, unintentional poisoning as a side effect isn't a huge risk. If she can theoretically cure someone of the poison this is less of an issue, and if she can't this power doesn't seem very useful if she'd have to put someone in a lot of additional danger to do it.

Also "really low possibility" to me kinda sounds like "never going to come up in the IC".

Jerno wrote:Abilities: Hand to hand Combat.
Equipment: A Knife and a Katana.

aside from the obligatory "of course it's a katana", how/when/why did a skater girl learn traditional Japanese swordsmanship to the point of being at least passably proficient enough to be listed as a skill

This is mostly fine, other than some odd occasionally random Capitalization of Words.

I can go through it real quick to change the pronouns. The app was originally going to be a guy, but I decided to change it at the last minute. So I’ll go through it again, as for the poison healing I can take that out if it doesn’t make much sense if needed, a character in a comic did use their poison healing ability by kissing the person, but like I said I can take it out if u want. As for the Katana I’ll just change that to.

Okay first off Endem

You got some kind of beef with me? Like, what's with the social justice warrior vibes I'm getting? I KNOW that was the beauty standard over there back then. My CHARACTER however need not like that aesthetic and I don't know why you think tsking over the humor aspect is at all constructive in terms of feedback.
