Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Erik Fregel
    Aliases: Angel of Vengeance/Simikiel
    Gender: A Man
    Age: Chronologically 97; biologically 25.
    Appearance:

Motivations
    Goals:
His goal, at least the one he reveals to the other members of the syndicate, is to make it so that metahumans will be the ones to rule the world. All those who stand in the way of this goal must be destroyed.

However, he has another goal: to give Ana new life. Literally. This however contradicts with his first goal, as giving Ana a new body will make him lose his meta abilities.

He also wants to kill every last Nazi on the planet.
    Fears:
Dying, as he is soul bonded with his sister and if he dies, so does she for good.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Soul Bond with his deceased metahuman sister, Ana.
    Powers :

Chains of Vengeance: Simikiel fires two chains made of ethereal energy forward for a distance of up to 30 meters at a relatively slow speed. They do not injure nor damage anything or anyone they encounter on the way, but they will pass through. Once they have either reached their maximum range or if Simikiel wills it, the chains snag the last object or person that they have phased through towards him. This does not cause injuries or pain by itself. He can make the chains disappear at will.

Chains of Wrath: Simikiel creates two 6 feet long chains made of ethereal energy that have glaives on their ends and wields them in battle. These glaives are sharp enough to slice through unprotected flesh. The chains themselves cannot be intercepted, but the glaives can be blocked.

Azrael's Gift: Simikiel manifests a ghostly scythe into realspace. He wields this weapon with utter mastery. The scythe also charges energy every time a person within a radius of 50 meters dies; five deaths allows it to fire an outburst of energy with the force of a shotgun.

Death Incarnate: Simikiel is capable of transforming his body into an incorporeal form. In this state, he is incapable of affecting his surroundings, though he can pass through solid objects, cannot be harmed by non-magical attacks, can float up to 50 meters from the ground, and is invisible to the naked eye. He can bring one other person with himself while incorporeal. He cannot remain in this state indefinitely and will turn back to a corporeal form after 10 minutes. He can still be sensed by magic users and thermal sensors. This has a cooldown of 10 minutes in between uses.

Soul Leech: With a slow and deliberate process that may take up to an hour, Simikiel is able to heal his own injuries and extend his lifespan by draining life from a living mammalian creature. This causes excruciating pain to the one being drained from beginning to end.

Rapid Reflexes: Simikiel processes information and stimuli much faster than an ordinary human. As such, his reaction times are twice as fast.

    Abilities:
Expert Combatant: He has honed himself in both marksmanship and unarmed melee combat. He is thus both a highly accurate shooter and a dangerous fighter.

    Equipment:

1 Barrett M82 Sniper rifle (always in his car's trunk)
4 daggers he keeps in his boots and inner pockets
2 Glock sidearms he always keeps on himself
A pair of magnetic armbands that he uses to attract his weapons back to himself
    Weaknesses:

Magic: Due to the overflow of otherworldly power within his body, magical attacks tend to weaken his abilities and himself.

Traumatic Past: Mentioning the names of Ana, Leonora, Thomas, and Jemma cause him to hesitate due to the outburst of painful memories associated with them.

Injury: Being injured while in his physical form prevents him from turning to his incorporeal form.

Background:
Job: Part of the metahuman syndicate in secret. He is a jeweler in public.
Legal Status: Simikiel is a wanted terrorist; Erik is just the owner of a jewel shop.
    Backstory:
Erike Fregel was born in 1923 in the city of Poznan, Poland. He was part of Poland's sizable Jewish community, and the Fregels especially were moderately wealthy owners of a bakery. Not much happened for most of his early dats, as Erik pretty much lived a normal life for a boy at the time. That is, until the German Reich invaded the Republic of Poland. Poznan, and eventually all of Poland fell to the Germans and the Soviet Union. Deaths were many and the nation was once again the boot of foreign powers, but that wasn't the worst yet.

At first, the tendrils of hatred of subtle and silent like serpents in the darkness. However, it soon intensified; the Fregels were forced out of their home and business. They were placed into a ghetto, where disease was rampant. Erik and his family lived there in terrible conditions… until they were rounded up and placed on a truck sometime in 1941. They were sent to the Sobibor Concentration Camp, wherein all of them, except for Erik, were gassed immediately upon arrival.

Erik was irreversibly changed that day as he, a young man at the time, was ripped away from his family. The Nazis forced him and the others who were seen to be fit for work to slave labor, toiling from morning to evening. He believed that he would not last long after that. Next thing he would see the next day were the bodies piled up near the furnace, and the Nazi devils told him that he was going to help with carrying them to the furnace.

After some time of unrelenting slavery and toil, he heard a voice in his sleep. Not just any voice, in fact. It was his sister, Ana. She spoke into his mind and to his soul; she was like a ghost that none could sense save for her voice. Erik believed that he was going mad, but Ana assured him that he wasn't crazy. She was a metahuman, one with the power to bind her consciousness to another person and grant them abilities in the process. It wasn't until her untimely death in the showers that she realized her gift, but still, she was alive, in a sense.

Some time would pass before the historic escape from Sobibor was planned by an ex-Soviet Jewish officer that was in the camp. It was around this time that Erik's power finally manifested. He had gained the ability of a howling ghost (incorporeal form, ethereal chains, and summoning a scythe). In addition, he was also able to reverse his ageing and heal himself by draining the life out of living creatures; by the time the plan of escape was enacted, he had been able to control his abilities to the full. He would be instrumental in killing some of the SS officers that managed the camp, but they still have mishaps as they weren't able to assassinate all of them. However, 300 out of the 600 inmates still managed to escape.

In 1946, he emigrated to the United States, settling in New York City. He kept a low profile life, taking various jobs over 14 years until he exposed his abilities when he attempted to shield a friend from a gunshot. While the government easily suppressed the news, agents injected him with tranquilizers in the dead of night and brought him to a testing facility. There, they experimented on him, and wondered about the discrepancy between his age and the brand on his arm. They confirmed most of his abilities, albeit with excruciatingly painful experiments; so much so that one of the personnel, Leonora, in the facility began to show sympathy. The head researcher reminded her of her duties; that the man in that cell was a subject, nothing more, nothing less. In the end, however, she helped Erik escape from the facility. Details are scant and the files of the incident have been heavily classified, but some records say she placed a few mice in his cell.

Erik along with Leonora crossed over towards Mexico, where they stayed for the next thirty years. It was at this time that Erik had his own family, with two children named Jemma and Thomas. He allowed himself to age; Ana had been silent.

In 1988, Leonora died from leukemia. In 1990, Jemma and Thomas, who were returning to their home after a night in the movies, were both fatally shot in a crossfire between rival gangs. Erik had once again lost those he had grown to care.

First, he survives the Holocaust with all its horror. And then, he gets experimented on for trying to save someone. And then… his family dies. Again. In the long life that he had lived, Erik lost everyone each time he tried to be a good, functional member of society. Now, Erik Fregel has taken on the mantle of Simikiel, the Angel of Vengeance. Simikiel has been operating alongside the metahuman syndicate in the last few years, gaining the reputation of a dangerous criminal that is practically immune to gunfire. However, Erik Fregel is just some jeweler in Tijuana… No?

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

    Name: Taela M'reen

    Aliases: Taela Masters, Miss Majestic

    Gender: Female

    Age: 35 Terran Years.

    Appearance:
    (Image)
Taela M'reen stands at 6'4'' (6'7'' in her battlesuit), with an athletic build and sharply defined muscles.

Motivations

Goals: Keep the culture of Mutera alive, help people where she can.

Fears: Discovering that she truly is the last of her race. Lorissians finding her.

Strengths and Weaknesses

    Source of Power: Alien Biology

    Powers :
Living Generator: Due to Taela's unique biology, she produces a massive amount of energy in a manner that is similar to a fusion reactor. She can also absorb energy from other sources, though charging her body with over 4,500 megawatts can cause the power to explode out from her in a blast that can destroy everything within a 250 meter radius. Without her battle suit, Taela can only absorb energy through physical contact with her palms.

Starblasts: Taela is capable of converting the energy in her body into blasts of raw power capable of demolishing up to three feet of concrete, and hot enough to turn stone into slag. She is capable of modulating how much energy goes into the blasts, meaning that she can do anything from injure to evaporate a normal human.

Super-Strength: Taela can lift up to 100 tons if she is straining herself to her limit.

Flight: By manipulating her personal gravity with the suit she wears, Taela can fly up to 500 miles per hour.

Super Durability: Due to her alien biology, Taela is far more durable than most. She can withstand her own strength's effects on her body, and can support up to 100 tons for a short time without significant injury.

    Abilities:
Kulkor Master: A martial art from Mutera which focuses on solid, powerful strikes and throws that use the opponent's mass against them, designed for use in zero gravity or in flight. It also combines the energy projection of the Muterans with the actual martial arts. It is taught to all members of the Muteran royal family, and as the Princess, Taela has trained in this art from the time she was a young girl.

Linguist: Taela is fairly proficient at several alien languages and english, though she does have a noticeably exotic accent when she speaks.

Classical Education: Taela received a classical eduaction on her home world, which included mathematics, literature, astrophysics, diplomacy and governance, linguistics, and computer coding.

    Equipment:
Royal Battlesuit: The armor of the royal family of Mutera, which allows her to absorb energy from anywhere on her body rather than only with her hands and manipulate her own personal gravity for flight. It feeds off of the energy produced by Taela, and uses that energy to power its gravity manipulation. The suit itself is resistant to most small arms fire, though calibers above 7.62×39mm can cause injury, and 50 Caliber bullets can penetrate the suit entirely. The suit is contained in a small device that looks like a high-tech wrist watch, and spreads over her body when she presses a button on the device.

ISS August Dawn: The princess's private vessel that she escaped the occupation of her home world in. The ship is all curving lines and sleek edges, evoking a feeling of flowing water. The vessel is capable of FTL travel up to 20,000 times the speed of light within a galaxy. The vessel is only large enough to house one person, and contains a stasis system to keep the occupant alive until it reaches its destination. It possesses no armament, instead focusing all of its power into its engine systems.

    Weaknesses:
Molybdenum Allergy: Direct contact with molybdenum can suppress her powers and physically weaken her, up to the point of death over prolonged exposure. If molybdenum gets into her bloodstream it can cause an anaphylactic reaction.

Biochemical Incompatability: None of the food on Earth actually provides her substenance, and worse, it may kill her. Due to this, she was forced to take the food processor from the August Dawn and bring it into her home, in order to create food that she can eat.

Low Power: Overusing her abilities can cause her to lose them for up to 24 hours, depending on how thoroughly she depletes her energy level.

Background:

Job: Reporter for the New York Post

Legal Status: TIAMA-Afilliated hero, legal alien with asylum status

    Backstory:
Taela M'reen was born as the first daughter of the ruling M'reen family of the planet Mutera. She was beloved by her parents and her people, and spent her early life living in extreme luxury. She was afforded the best education that could be acquired by the space-faring empire that had been built by her family over the course of hundreds of years. She trained in the martial art of the royal family, Kulkor, and trained in use of the royal battlesuit that had been made for her as an infant and grew with her. Taela assumed that she would continue her entire life like this, and grow up to inherit the crown of the Muteran Empress when her parents passed.

    Unfortunately, fate had other plans.

When she was 15 Terran years of age, or 16 rels in her world's accounting, her family's empire was set upon by a race of ravenous, power-hungry marauders known as Lorissians. The species was a reptillian, cunning species with a high birthrate and no compunctions when it came to killing anyone and everyone who stood in the way of their expansion. While the Muterans had the technological advantage, the Lorissians had numbers in such magnitude that her family's nation could not possibly hope to hold out for long. Still, they fought long and hard, making the bloodthirsty barbarians pay for every inch of ground lost, right up to the steps of the Imperial Palace. Taela's father put her in her ship with her battlesuit in the cargohold and set a course for her as far away from the doomed world as he could, hoping to save her life and preserve the culture of the Empire in the heir to its throne.

Which is how the young princess found herself flying away from her burning world in a vessel faster than anything the Lorissians could hope to match and placed into stasis as she hurtled through the dark space between stars. For many weeks she hurtled through the inky blackness of deep space, locked in suspended animation until her ship's sensor system was alerted to a nearby Garden World with a native population not too dissimilar in appearance from her homeworld. Best of all, it was a Developing world, which meant that the Lorissians wouldn't dare follow her to it. She would be safe.

Taela was awoken from stasis and informed of the nearby world, which she immediately set course for. Her descent into the atmosphere was picked up by every radar system in North America, and she was swiftly intercepted by two native atmospheric vessels that began to squawk orders at her via primitive radio-frequency messages. Luckily, the universal translator was still working, and her computer systems managed to translate the communications into her native language.

She communicated her identity and her request for asylum, and was directed to land at a place called Nellis Air Force Base. She followed the atmospheric craft to the base and landed in the primitive hanger that she was directed to, and spent the next three years in the tender care of the United States Government. The princess was treated fairly well, though she did get the distinct impression that the information she was being fed was designed to influence her opinion to regard the relatively large nation-state as the greatest, but she grin and bore it until they decided to set her up with the identity of Taela Masters and a small nest egg, as well as an apartment in a large, dirty coastal city they called New York.

She lived in relative quiet, getting a job with a local newspaper named the New York Post and keeping under the radar, until the incident in New York revealed the existence of extra-normal individuals to the world. With the excuse of the new class of people, Superheroes, allowing her to don her Battle Suit and display the powers and abilities she had been born with, Taela leapt into the roll that opened up for her. She became Miss Majestic, and has spent the last decade and a half using her powers to help people where she can, hoping that no one will ever have to experience the hopelessness she felt while watching her world burn from the safety of her ship.

Accepted.

Hi, I'll be reviewing your application.

Wood Blast: Miky releases wood from his hands, which can cause impalive or concussive damage

Please provide clarification, I understand he does it from his hands, but is the wood connected to his hands after this, or is the wood like a missile, can he shape how the wood will come out?

Woody Missile: Miky can form spears, arrows, wood shaped missiles, needles and darts to fire at his opponents. this ability can be quite destructive with a blast radius of 100 ft upon impact and can damage most objects, it can also cause heavy damage to metal and concrete but wont completely break it. as this can be a destructive ability it has a cool off timer of 2 hours.

Please provide clarification, are the projectiles explosive, or are they simply what you listed?

Wood ball Projection: Miky summons wooden balls that surround his opponent, it can be quite damage but not enough to be fatal or lethal, can cause bones to break or a concussion. has a timer of 7 minutes.

Clarification, again, can he controls these balls, do they squeeze the opponent being surrounded, or are they just wooden balls?

Wood Breath: Miky can launch beams, streams, and a mist in the form of saw dust.

Beams and streams of what? The sentence reads as if only the mist was made of saw dust, I am unsure if it's intentional or not

Wood Pillar: Miky can shape wooden pillars to pierce or impale his opponents. he can also use these pillars to imprison his opponents.

Further clarification is required, does he launch the pillars from his hands, or from the ground?

Wood Transmutation: Miky can turn people, animals and objects into wood. in order to use this ability Miky has to be physically touching the opponent, he mostly uses this ability to shift in size which enables him to drive his car.

I am going to ask you to remove this power, as it stands now, it's basically a 1 hit kill on anything he touches

Wooden Prison: Miky shoots out the wood from one of his arms and surrounds the enemy with it to immobilize them, and bind them as well.

I am going to ask for more clarification, does he need to be constantly using this power? Does the wood detach from his arm?

Overall, the powers lack explanation and are vague as to their properties, until that is fixed I am not able to accept your app, thank you

Seismic Hearing: with his feet he can feel the ground and hear the cries for help this way. The only power that spans in all direction at 250 ft in all (in the ground) directions and up to 30 ft deep.
Terran Movement : He can manipulate the earth at will. With This he can raise a shield of ground to protect himself or make projectiles when the need arises to defend himself as well, this ability is also useful to make tunnels, pillars, and make the earth shift so he can rescue victims. With Terran movement he can easily move around 700lbs (his upper limit would be 1,300 lbs if he strained himself to much) of earth at the same time within at least 100ft from himself.
Abilities: he knows First Aid. He also has the capacity to defend himself until another hero arrived to finish the job.
Equipment: A backpack: it holds a grappling hook (Brandon has never seen the grappling hooks end)
10 dogs: 2 German Shepherds, 2 Newfoundland, and 2 Labradors, 2 Dalmatians, 2 Huskies. Firefighter, Jeep Gladiator and Chevy Silverado.
Weaknesses: He is not very good at fighting Villains and therefore must depend on other heroes to help him. He can also only control one element at a time. Brandon has low strength and has the inability to lift too much (his maximum lift is 90 lbs). Brandon also has a low stamina and has the inability to keep using his abilities for a long period of time. Brandon also has a fragile body that easily breaks.

Background:
    Job: Full time TIAMA Hero
    Legal Status: US Citizen
Backstory: Brandon is in a class of his own. He is a rescue hero instead of fighting villains he is running around saving people from natural disasters, day to day fires and normal accidents like a car crash. He is extremely popular throughout USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, South America, Africa south of the Sahara fester and Western Europe. He also has a toy line, clothing, accessories line as well. They even have a comic series and a movie about the hero. But that was after the fame. He was born in Puerto Rico and shortly after moved to NYC. His family settled in the Bronx where a huge Latin presence was there. Until he was three life was normal, until his accident. He faced near death with a heart attack. It is unknown why he had a heart attack and doctors to this day are beyond baffled as to why it happened but one thing was certain after a few tests it was confirmed that his heart had changed form. While still maintaining the four part human heart doctors were baffled to see a presence of two elements inbred into his heart. After that he was able to control two elements. After that his life turned interesting in a way. When he was seven he lost both of his hands in a accident. His parents were poor and weren’t able to pay so plastic implants could be set in, however an anonymous donor payed the surgery with a single request it was a crazy idea but his parents accepted. Hoses that were able to turn into fingers and switch freely was placed in. The donor also gave Brandon’s parents a backpack which contained a grappling hook and a water cannon. Brandon’s parents saw huge potential in his way to become a amazing hero but unfortunately they wouldn’t get the chance to see him become one. 3 years later, or when Brandon was ten his parents died in a building fire. Brandon wasn’t able to save them in time and was devastated. After that he worked hard to be seen and to be noticed and as a result started to work his way into becoming a rescue type hero. He lived in the streets and soon gained some new friends. Six dogs who also lived in the streets. He quickly took them in and took care of them. The dogs soon accepted Brandon as their master and friend. At the age of thirteen he met the anonymous donator from many years ago. He was an agent for a organization for meta human. He offered Brandon a new lifestyle to which he quickly agreed. He was sent to an academy in NYC where he was further trained to be a hero. He also gained a drivers license and was able to purchase his first vehicles along with a fire truck. When he turned 18 he was given the option to become a full time hero to which Brandon accepted. When he turned 18 he got his drivers license and was able to purchase his first vehicle. He was also able to acquire a fire truck as well. Once he accepted he was recruited by TIAMA where he was sent across the globe to help victims of natural disasters and other accidents. Brandon quickly became popular among the public. Now TIAMA officially assigned him to a region TIAMA Eastern USA in the New York City Area. From here his adventure begin in the Big Apple.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations
    Goals:

    Idealism.

Avery is very idealistic and has a lazer-focus when it comes particularly to Social issues. This might not sound practical but she wants to "Change the world," and even gets blinded by her idealism from time-to-time.

    Fears:

    • Araneorum timere (Arachnophobia/fear-of-spiders)
    • timere altitudines (fear-of-heights)
    • timere serpentium (fear-of-snakes)
    • timeo insanabile (fear-of-cobras, a specific fear-of-snakes)

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Source of Power: Genetic mutation.
    Powers :

Super sense-of-smell: On the tin. She can smell things that aren't detectable to the Human Nose.

Lazerblasts: She can fire green lazers from her eyes, though this only works in close-proximity. She hasn't practiced this enough to be able to get into Midrange. Also these blasts are pointblank, they don't curve to hit the victim (i.e Darkseid's eye blasts)

X-Ray Vision: On the tin, though it doesn't work on non-organics (Automata, i.e A.I, Androids, Robots, etc)

Frostbreath: On the tin, however she has to drink Club Soda to use it.

    Abilities:

    • Flexibility (she's also double-jointed)

    • Ballet and general agility/fast reflexes (Grace/poise)
    • Swordplay
    • Technological savvyness (considered to be "super-savvy" and a talent when it comes to Hacking, Coding, Software.)
    • Swimming (like a fish in water)
    • Bilingualism (English is her Mother Tongue, her second language is French)

She's naturally flexible, but skillful/adept when it comes to every other ability listed.

Equipment: Sabre and sheath (on her left hip)

    https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sS8GyVr_ug8/Un959_E6TdI/AAAAAAAAF7U/vsknmTN3U0o/s1600/5+sabre+cuirassier+AN+XI.jpg

Civilian-wise, she almost-always wears a bag of some kind. She also has her flute and other instruments (kazoo, triangle, tambourine)

    Weaknesses:

    Umm.. where to begin?

    • She's not super-strong
    • She's not super-fast/a speedster (she just is agile but that doesn't mean she can run "super-quick")
    • She's not supersmart/intelligent (she's only particularly brainy when it comes to Technology)
    • She doesn't have a Healing Factor
    • She doesn't have super-hearing

I could go on, but imma stop.
(These are things that will put you at a disadvantage in combat. Personality traits are not weaknesses. Use these to keep your character balanced. It is not essential that you add them, if myself or the Co-OPs think they're necessary we'll help you out with making them.)

Background:
Job: Student (full time, technically), starving artist/aspiring musician (flutist though "dabbles" in tambourine, triangle, and kazoo)
Legal Status: American citizen, born-and-bred. Legally, she's a hero.
    Backstory:

Avery hails from Alabama, giving her an Alabamian accent. As a baby, her powers didn't manifest, but when she was a toddler, they started manifesting. In-school, she was a Teachers' pet, though somewhat of a C-student. Avery was always musically inclined, and her first instrument was the Flute (though she admitted to how hard it was, or atleast in her opinion) though she started dabbling in Percussion instruments (Tambourine and Triangle) and another woodwind (kazoo), though she gave the Flute her all (and still does), she has more fun with the three other instruments.

Her heroics started when she was sixteen, harnessing and understanding her powers (besides lazerblasts), and doubling-down on her Idealism. In that regard, she's inexperienced (compared to other heroes) but she gives it her all/100% effort. She started to lose her musical inclination, thinking about going into Acting, Modeling or the Circus (essentially being a freakshow), though her parents and Music teachers were always there to support her at the time.

Her parents pushed her, and wanted her to be an overachiever, which is how/why she has the other abilities besides her Flexibility. Besides that, she had somewhat of a knack for athletics and physical activities (her favorite sports/activities are:

    • Jumprope/Doubledutch
    • Hopscotch
    • Skipping
    • Dodgeball
    • Sync. Swimming

though because of her Athleticism, she participated in many other sports/games/activities both in-school and out/in her spare time.)

Because of her resilience and general spunk/moxie, she went under the alias "Georgian Wildflower," also because she thinks she resembles one too (since she's petite), her outfit/costume came about because of her Southern nature; she associated the colors Yellow and Green to be symbols of hardwork/labo(u)r and Agriculture, but also Radiance because of her outfit's brightness.

Her fears (Spiders, Snakes and Heights) are essentially Phobias, and can be considered another weakness since a variety of symptoms happen to her when she encounters one, such as:

    • Laziness/Demotivation
    • Tired/Drousy/Fatigue (Fainting or slowly falling asleep)
    • Petrification. (becoming frozen or stuck-in-shape when she sees one or fears that it'll touch/bite her.)

and so on, but notably those. Because of her fear-of-heights, she also fears falling, planes (being in or near one) and climbing, only somewhat-getting over the very latter since she was an athlete and had to participate in that activity/sport.

One of her many weaknesses is that essentially she's more suited for solo works since she's not a people-person/bad w/ Teamwork. This doesn't mean that she's asocial, antisocial or introverted. If anything, she's a social butterfly. She just finds it hard/frustrating to work with others, even musically, when her teacher wanted her to play in a quartet.

(How did you come to join TIAMA?)

Had this as a draft for awhile. Also note that I suck at coming up w/ practical weaknesses, but hopefully that narrows it down.

I also understand the concern of "how short is a short-blast?" or "how big/long is the explosive?" since I've seen others struggle w/ this issue. I suck at Measurement, note, but her blasts would be more in the line of attacking someone in a room than attacking/reaching someone two/three blocks away.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Ethan Park
    Aliases: Fulldive
    Gender: Male
    Age: 22
    Appearance: 175cm (5'7") tall, 68 kg (150lbs), platinum blonde, blue eyes, Asian-American.
    Image

Motivations
Goals: Maintain the peoples' freedom, keep the internet free from super-powered cyber-criminals, prove himself as an effective hero.
Fears: Losing the powers he heavily relies on to make a living, losing his creations, dying to an edgelord villain.

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Source of Power:
    Powers :
    • Vinteokinesis: Ethan can create, shape, and manipulate video images using energy. Allowing him to create energy constructs in the shape of beings, tools, weapons, and aspects of fantasy with powers of their own. Ethan can directly communicate with electronics, providing superhuman levels of control through thought alone. Ethan's digital constructs require substantial amounts of prep time in order to actually be of use, and must somewhat obey the laws of physics. On top of this, Ethan can enter, travel through, and manipulate digital and electrical devices from within.
    • Living Battery: Ethan can absorb, project, and store about 1 gigajoule of energy within himself. This surplus of energy is mainly used for his Vinteokinesis power, but can also 'overcharge' his body. While in this energized state, Ethan's body can stun, and his reaction speed is greatly increased. Due to being able to control his energy output, he can also act as a wireless charger for electronics.
    Abilities:
    • Tech Genius: Ethan, through sponsorships and abuse of his powers, has quickly accumulated a number of IT related knowledge and certificates. Namely in Digital Art, Programming, and Multimedia. All of which factor into his power and allow him to pull off greater feats. Because he can seamlessly transfer his imagination into machines, creating extremely complex AI, 3D models, and so on comes to him naturally. He could've done so without going to uni, but at least it looks good on his resume.
    • Adept Swordsman: Not many can say they've fought to the death with nothing but a sword, especially a pseudo-magical one... multiple times. While Ethan could easily create modern weapons with his power, medieval fantasy has always been his guilty pleasure, especially so considering he can imitate magic.
    Equipment:
    • A high-end laptop and flagship phone.
    • A Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle.
    • A collection of 3D models securely stored in the cloud and his local device (which he can summon for combat).
Note: All summons are immune to pain. Summoned materials (e.g. metal, flesh, bone) are, unless otherwise stated, equivalent to their real-life counterparts. All explosives are, unless otherwise stated, equivalent to a hand grenade in power. Ethan can always create other constructs in the future, but this will take time in IC. Whilst transformed, Ethan has a dulled sense of pain, and can still use his Living Battery powers. Summons Ethan has transformed into have their eyes change from white to red.
      • A 220cm (7'2") edgy fire knight with ~600kg (0.6 tons) strength, plus a flaming shield, sword, and breath (summon+transformation)
      • A 200cm (6'5") winged knight complete with bullet resistance to 7.62 rounds, ~600kg (0.6 tons) strength, a 'magical' flaming sword, and energy blasts (summon+transformation).
      • A 250cm (8'2") storm knight that merges the previous two knights into one. This construct is essentially a humanoid firestorm, greatly empowering Ethan's energy powers (+50%), whilst being unexpectedly fast for its size. Typical weaponry will simply phase through it, anything within direct contact will be burned/electrocuted, it can slowly 'float' through the sky, it has ~800kg (0.8 tons) strength, and can throw spear-shaped lightning/fire fire bolts. (transformation; requires fire and winged knights to be already summoned in order to merge).
      • A 150cm (4'11") magical girl with ~500kg (0.5 tons) strength. Energy shields bulletproof to 7.62 and minor resistance against .50 cal, larger energy blasts, and a pain-relieving rune with an aura spanning 10m (32ft). A magic staff that doubles all energy output (transformation; added here)
      • Angel wings with a wingspan of 7m (23ft) that equip to Ethan and provide flight (transformation).
      • A 190cm (6'2") skeleton mage with a max range on 300m (984ft), can shoot fireballs and lightning and double the strength of other skeletons within 50m (164ft) (summon).
      • A 190cm (6'2") skeleton archer with a max range of 250m (820ft) that can fire normal and explosive arrows (summon).
      • A 190cm (6'2") tall skeleton swordsman (summon).
      • A 5.7m (18.7ft) long snake that can self-destruct (summon).
      • Sticky explosives in the form of fake magic runes that can be placed on surfaces no larger than Ethan's hand (scales with transformations) (summon).
    Weaknesses:
    • Power:
      • Summoned constructs must have a model, textures, complex AI, shaders, speech recognition, and various other features (especially if intended for combat) to actually do stuff beyond standing around. Usually, the more realistic a construct is, the stronger it can be.
      • Ethan can only control 3-6 summons at a time, unless the summons are self-reliant and/or intelligent enough to operate without supervision.
      • Ethan's power is very much a 'quantity over quality' type power, the less he's able to summon, the weaker he is. In fact, he intentionally makes his construct look way stronger than they really are.
      • Larger summons take much longer to materialize than smaller ones, taking anywhere from 1 to 30 seconds.
      • Without a device (i.e. phone/laptop) Ethan will not have access to his constructs and be unable to summon anything.
      • Going over his energy limit may result in passing out or possibly 'short-circuiting'.
    • Self:
      • Not skilled in close combat beyond swordplay.
      • Has almost no counters to magic or other anomalous powers.
      • Kinda a wuss when it comes to pain as he's never even broken a bone.
      • No way of quickly healing himself (unless he learns how to make something that can, which is very unlikely).
      • Pushing his powers to their limit may result in passing out.

      Background:
Job: Freelance digital artist, programmer, and cybersecurity specialist; Sponsored TIAMA Hero.
        Legal Status: US Citizen, Hero.
Backstory: Ethan Park was a gifted child, if a bit anti-social, with his knowledge in technology far exceeding his peers. He was a veritable genius, writing programs at just 6 years old. It wasn't until his 9th birthday did his powers truly reveal themselves, his parents catching him in the act as he plunged a hand into the TV, pulling out an exact copy of some advertised kids toy. His parents were absolutely ecstatic, their respective academic backgrounds in science and technology squealing at the thought. For a long while, Ethan was simply taught how to responsibly use his power, dropping out in favor of being home-schooled. All his friends were behind a screen, pop culture and video-games all that could hold his attention.

The moment he turned 18, Ethan fled his stuffy parents home for university, flying through on a number of merit-based scholarships to attain a number of tech-related certificates. Two years of hard work, and some possibly illegal activity, had netted Ethan a sizable sum of cash. A master of all things digital simply couldn't go wrong in the modern age. Penetration testing, bug-finding, digital art, programming, AI - nothing was off the table. But Ethan wanted more, he wanted to prove himself in the real world. Use his power to catch real criminals, to test himself against other super powered weirdos who could actually pose some challenge. Not script-kiddies on the net. Fortunately, nothing was really stopping him from doing just that.

And so, off he went to TIAMA, registering himself as a hero much to his parents dismay. He'd never felt more alive stepping through those doors, out of his dark, computer-lit room. What new experiences await him?

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Catherine Rutherford
    Aliases: Wildcat
    Gender: Female
    Age: 22
    Appearance:
6’ tall, 185 pounds with light brown skin and curly red hair and hazel eyes. After sufficient time not being suppressed, her human ears fade in favor of cat ears, she grows out a tail and gains retractable claws, digitigrade legs and she is 3 inches taller.

Her power armor looks like this but with red where the blue is and the grey is jet black and has cat like two eyes on the helmet, including projector that allows her to project a cartoon like mouth on it's surface among other shapes. Also has a tail.

    https://i.pinimg.com/originals/9e/1f/9e ... b42548.jpg

Motivations
    Goals: Stand against oppression ofmetahumans.
Fears: The worsening oppression of meta-kind and their enslavement to humans

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Born with meta mutation that gives her of the physiological traits of a Scottish wildcat, gained higgs Field manipulation powers from a gene modification process that occurred at EldSök's Marviken Advance Research Facility.

    Powers :

Higgs Field Manipulation: Ability to manipulate the Higgs Mechanism within a 5 meter radius. She can edit how particles around her interact with their environment, as making them act as if they have a larger or smaller mass, since she isn't creating or destroying mass it's self, she can turn mass-related interactions off and on as she sees's fit.

This gives her the ability to accomplish feats such as:

    - Prop up against ceilings and walls.

    - Manipulate air particles, allowing her to make invisible walls and steps.

    - Increasing the mass of her fist as she strikes downward, enough to break the metamaterials used in power armor, scaling with the rest of her strikes.

    - Simulate telekinetic power through manipulating the mass of particlds interacting with other particles.

    - Generate hard bubble of increased mass every 3 minutes that expands from around her body out to 5 meters and lasts 5 seconds, with her deciding the rate of expansion and if it'll break through or go around walls, floors, ceilings, etc.

Scottish Wildcat Physiology: Her mother's pregancy complications saw her making use of experimental treatment, making Catherine share traits with scottish wildcats. This includes a heightened sense of vision, touch, hearing, smell and dexterity, the more feline that she becomes, though her baseline is already beyond peakhuman. Additionally the experimental stem cell treatment that allows catherines body to morph as she becomes more feline, left Catherine with the ability regenerate from injuries, up to and including lost limbs, with her losing weight in this rest of her body proportional to that which was lost.

    Abilities:

Cybersecurity Expert: Extraordinarily talented at both securing and hacking into computers and computer networks.

Gymnastic Martial Artist: Gave up mounting and flipping over beams for mounting and flioping over human beings. A gymnast until around 10, she adopted the discipline she learned to a variety of martial arts, specializing in muay thai.

Expert Climbing and Parkour: with or without equipment, she is a very good climber, making use of both her physiology and higgs manipulation powers to do so

    Equipment:

Power Armour: Enhances her abilities, endurance, along with generic recon power armor abilities. Keeps her suspended in her synthesis personality through careful injection of suppressants, however it also allows her to freely become more or less feline. Likewise the suit expands and contracts with physical changes such shifts bring. Suit comes with a high capacity battery that Catherine is capable of recharging with a generator of her own design that makes use of her higgs field manipulation.

Makeshift Suit: Has a black suit that doesn’t enhance her abilities except to make climbing and parkour easier, carries an array of devices for the purpose of breaking into computer systems.

    Weaknesses:

Misfit: While Catherine’s feline traits are suppressed, she needs to be actively interacting with others to avoid depression and self-harming tendencies. When her feline traits are not suppressed, being in crowds becomes enraging, causing her to become increasingly violent and sadistic.

Bipolar diet: When her traits are suppressed, she has difficulty eating non-vegan products, as they simply don't agree with her. When her feline traits are not suppressed, she must eat almost exclusively meat.

Urge to kill: When Catherine is far gone enough in being feline, she must satisfy her hunt to kill instincts for the suppressants to work again. This is done by killing several of the animals that a wildcat would normally hunt. Or killing a single sapient. This reversion does not happen automatically, however, Catherine must want it or she needs to be tranquilized after doing so to lock in the suppressants working on her.

Sectioned Memory: Catherine essentially has three distinct personalities that are activated as her feline traits become more or less suppressed. All three hide significant information from each other that would be contrary to the desires of the other two. Her synthesis personality is most capable of drawing information from the other two. She can dip into this personality through holding off on suppressants, but will not long after end up in her feline personality.

Extreme Superiority Complex: When kept in her synthesis personality while in her power armor, she displays extreme arrogance. This personality see's it's self as utterly superior to the other two, and also superior to more or less anyone she interacts with, though this does not leader her to underestimate ways foes might "get lucky". While she can work with others, she becomes very difficult to plan with as a peer, however is more than willing to command others as their superior.

Suppressant Overload: If she overdoses on her suppressants, she loses her feline traits until she can sleep for 12 hours.

Organic limits: Can not manipulate any particles that are part of a living organism, except for her own body.

Mind (and limb) over matter: In theory, her potential matter manipulation is far beyond what she exercises, In practice, she has mental limits and needs guides to use her powers. In order to start manipulating the matter in a region, she needs to point a limb toward it, once she's done that, she can continue doing so as long as she has a limb in that direction, OR she can see it. But the moment that her sight and limbs turn elsewhere, there's an increasing chance that the region resets to previous values. Only exceptions are the particles within an area about the radius of her kicking leg's reach can be manipulated indefinitely without line of sight or direction by limbs and her hard bubble ability.

Background:
Job: Independent Cybersecurity Contractor, TIAMA employee

Legal Status: Natural Born US Citizen, Dual British Citizenship

Backstory: Catherine's parents met each other in the late 90s while her mother, a first generation american Jamacian decent, was in Scotland for an international gymnastics competition. Unfortunately, she suffered an injury that would end her dream of competing in the Olympics, so she settled down with Catherine's father. Catherine's mother had some complications during her pregnancy, leading to the use of experimental treatments. Before her birth, Catherine's parents would move California, but when it was discovered that Catherine was born with a partially feline physiology, they both decided that her condition would only be affordable for them if they moved back to Scotland.

Catherine spent her first few years of schooling in Scotland, leading to her developing up a Scottish accent. Her first years were not all that that bad, apart from the negative attention she'd get frim climbing on to and and on top of weird placed. From an early age she developed an interest in learning about computer software while also practicing to become a gymnast like her mother, but at 11 years old, her parents moved back to California upon her dad getting a decent job offer. The year before, Catherine had started undergoing a puberty modified by her feline physiology, leading her to quickly grow tall, lanky and less coordinated along with showing some additional feline traits. This, combined with her scottish accent, led to her being bullied by her peers. Her size also meant that other kids would pick fights with her to make a statement, fights catherine was usually on the losing end of. This led Catherine to retreat further into her interests in computers.

Eventually her parents, stuck between just making end meet and paying for her health costs, plus wanting to give her some physical activity to commit to , as her lack of coordination and height lead her to give up on gymnastics, had her take up martial arts. She thrived. After coming back to school after one summer vacation, a girl made the mistake of attacking Catherine. Suffice to say, it wasn't pretty, as Catherine unleashed her frustration on her attacker. Unfortunately for her, Catherine would be suspended for going quite a bit beyond self defense. One silver lining, however, is that during this suspension, catherine got serious with her hobby interest in computers, particularly computer security. By the end of that school year, Catherine was participating in both martial arts competitions and hacking competitions. While still often being mocked and treated creepily by some of her peers for her traits, she grew a confidence that lead her to becoming more extraverted, the more she interacted with her peers, the more human she felt, though paradoxically she maintained some disdain for "normal" humans a disdain that came out more when she was late on taking her suppressants.

She ended up going to the same high school as Amalure Davis, even becoming close friends. As soon as Catherine turned 16, she begun participating in adult martial arts competitions, including boxing and kickboxing, while also starting to take university courses in computer science due to her extreme aptitude. In both cases she realized that taking smaller doses of her suppressants aided her ability to make quick decisions, though it also made her less approachable. Around the time Catherine was about to graduate from highschool, Amalure spoke to her about becoming a TIAMA hero, at which point Catherine expressed her frustration with the way metas were treated by humanity and refused to even consider it. Eventually it escalated into a physical fight with Amalure that she had long wanted to have with Catherine, who ended up feeling utterly betrayed. Luckly, a combination of Amalure both holding back and the fact Catherine had been really been laying off her suppressants in preparation for competitions, lead to her avoiding significant injury.

Not particularly interested in seeing her “friend” again, she decided to accept an offer to study in Europe, pursuing a Master in Cybersecurity and minors in psychology and physics. She received a surprise invitation to work at EldSök's Marviken Advance Research Facility, from an interim director of the facility, that happened to be the daughter of EldSök CEO Daniel Sundberg. There, she was personally told by her that she was aware of her status as a metahuman, but that they wouldn't out her, rather she wanted to make use of her talents in Cybersecurity. Finding her a useful asset, she was also deployed directly to serve in west africa in that summer, where she was given EldSök designed power armour to work in the field, that also allowed her to for the first time spend an extended length of time in her synthesis personality. They offered her a job with them after she graduated, by the time she spent as a mercenary lead her to come around to using her powers to fight 'evil'. But disagreements with her employer lead her to wanting out. This however, would have mean't she'd have to give up the armor, so both she and her boss came to an agreement that if she agreed to take part in an experiment at Marvkien, she'd get to keep the suit and have any of EldSök's controls over it removed.

Upon the conclusion of the experiment, Catherine gained new Higgis field manipulation powers, though some of the symptoms of her being a Chimera worsened, though she'd become more capable of working around them, partially due to advice from her boss. With the experiment a success and her boss carrying through with her promises, Catherine received full control over her suit and she officially left EldSök's employ. However between studying she'd take a few jobs from them, among other customers, as an independent contractor, but purely from a desk capacity. After completing her studies in Europe, she moved to New York City and continued to work as an independent cybersecurity contractor. After the events of March 27th, Catherine felt that it was time to join TIAMA, though she maintains that her original unwillingness to join was the correct choice of action.

EDIT: Please ignore the app if already not in review, I've decided not to go through with it/revoke it. I've realized I'd rather focus my attention and care on my current three characters than apply for a fourth. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Elizabeth Goldman, usually shortened to "Ellie"
    Aliases: Deflector
    Gender: Female
    Age: 24
    Appearance:
    https://i.pinimg.com/originals/28/c7/be/28c7be52a0e7603fe3cc7b3d7c1f3158.jpg
Ellie is a fairly diminutive woman, standing at 5'2 and weighing 110 lbs. However, despite her small size, she does pack a punch, and is in pretty solid shape in terms of physique and muscle definition overall. She's Caucasian, with a fairly pale skin complexion, green eyes, and dyed black hair (her natural hair color being golden blonde).

    https://i.pinimg.com/736x/fa/20/ae/fa20ae5f27f511bcf7ce076714b7cb24.jpg
This, but (obviously) ignore the blonde hair, as while it does match her natural shade of hair, it's now currently dyed. For all intents and purposes, imagine it's black. As well, there's an additional hood attached to the suit that she slips on to protect herself from potentially harmful drag while dashing or running.

Motivations
Goals: Her only goal at the moment is to survive on a day-to-day basis, and to simply get through the daily pressure of life. She doesn't really know what she wants, and is basically trying to keep herself afloat until she finds out what that is.

Fears: She's incredibly afraid of intimate contact/affection after her partner was so violently killed, and in general, fears becoming too attached or close to others. She also suffers from driving phobia, or amaxophobia, which was triggered after finding out that her partner had been shot to death inside of a car.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Dhampir, with additional abilities that are genetically inherited.

    Powers:
    • Dhampir Physiology: Given the fact that she is the result of a union between a vampire father and a human mother, Ellie's physical condition is enhanced to a significant degree. Her lifting max tops out at roughly 3.5 tonnes, and her maximum punching force approximately 10,000 Joules, or around the amount of energy exerted by a 12-gauge shotgun. Certainly, not as impressive compared to the physical feats of other dhampirs, but that's okay, because Ellie isn't a weightlifter, she's a runner, having demonstrated the ability to sprint at a speed of roughly 70 km/h on multiple occasions. All of this is in addition to the standard biological perks that come with being a dhampir, such as the (somewhat useless) elongated canines, prolonged lifespan, and mild regeneration factor.

    • Vector Manipulation: In essence, Ellie is able to control and change the magnitude and direction (otherwise known as the "vector") of an object. While there are many types of vectors in physics, the three that are most applicable to real life (and are utilized most frequently by the young mercenary) are position, or the location and orientation of an object, velocity, or the speed and trajectory of an object, and force, or the interactions that cause a body to change in motion. In layman's terms, she can control the direction and intensity of an object's motion, either by speeding it up, slowing it down, or redirecting it altogether. The most basic application of this comes in the form of a temporary tactile field on the surface of her skin that she calls her "buffer". What this buffer does is briefly reverse and enhance the natural force of air pushing against her skin, allowing her to increase her lifting potential to 10 tonnes, increase her top running speed to just under 100 km/h, and become more resilient to sharp and blunt trauma. Air pressure is maintained by new air constantly rushing in to fill the space left behind the repelled air, making it safe and effective. This, however, is just one of the boatload of potential applications of this power.

For example, let's say she throws one of her famous knives at someone. While someone of her strength and proficiency in good conditions can usually clock a solid 70 km per hour (which is a pretty great throw, all things considered), by increasing the knife's velocity, she is able to easily accelerate the speed of the knife to double that, at 140 km per hour. Or, if she wants to fake an opponent out, she can throw that knife at its regular speed and adjust the knife's trajectory to redirect itself in mid-air. She can deflect fists and knives with ease by reversing their motion (even being able to redirect a bullet at point-blank range on multiple occasions), further increase her sprints to incredibly fast speeds that regularly clock at 220 km/h by both negating the effect of forces such as air resistance and inertia as well as utilizing acceleration and kinetic force from the ground to move quicker, use wind as self-propulsion to air-walk across large distances, and even speed up her healing rate of minor injuries by pushing the blood into a normal flow and forcibly closing her open wounds (although this is extremely painful and has caused her to pass out from sheer agony in the past). Her favorite trick is to place a loop on the end of one of her knives around her finger, begin to spin it, and manipulate the magnitude and direction of the knife's centrifugal force to create a rapid, helicopter-like spinning motion that can be deadly for any poor soul caught in the crossfire. The vectors don't even have to belong to matter visible to the naked eye. Ellie has spent some time honing her ability to control the vectors of matter at the microscopic level, becoming able to slightly influence the movements of individual molecules and atoms to perform tasks such as creating shockwaves and turning invisible by bending and manipulating reflected light rays around her.

    • Enhanced Senses/Cognition: Years of zipping around at high speeds, hands-on schooling, and calculating tremendous amounts of information on the fly with her powers has given Ellie the ability to process information at a much faster rate than the average human. A native English speaker usually takes roughly 600 hours to become proficient at a Category I language such as Dutch, Spanish, French, or Italian, while Ellie would only take roughly 50. The average reaction time to a visual stimulus for a human is roughly 0.25 seconds, while Ellie can react in 0.01. It's important to know that this is not an individual power, moreso a direct auxiliary to/a result of her ability to control and manipulate vectors.

Abilities: Ellie has been studying the art of Wing Chun (with some additional supplementary cross-training in grappling and groundwork) for the past seven years, using it to tease and wear down her opponent with her massive strength if forced into a situation where she needs to stall for time or needs to push a bit of heat off of her to allow her to successfully utilize her powers. It's not really a major part of her combat style, but it is definitely something to watch out for. When she doesn't feel like using her fists, her signature weapon of choice is the throwing knife, for its precision, power, and vast potential for additional fine-tuning and control with her powers. She's not half-bad at it either; thanks to her enhanced cognition and physical strength, she has a deadly aim and a throwing speed that can be just as fatal. If she runs out of knives, she can always switch to her blades, which she is also proficient in wielding. You would think that abilities like these would make her a brute-force-brawler type, but she is very capable of intelligent thought as well. In addition to possessing native proficiency in English, Ellie is able to converse in Russian, Italian, Spanish, and German. While there is no real "rate" of processing that can be quantified (i.e, "Can process information 20x faster than the average human"), her ability to learn and think is certainly on a much greater scale than even "prodigies" and "geniuses" by human standards. Finally, as a result of partial training, Ellie is able to control and slow down her heart rate and breathing to a limited degree if she is caught in a sticky situation, such as an area with little oxygen, deep water, or extremely cold environments.

    Equipment:
    • Her costume (pictured in Appearance), which is incredibly durable and able to resist the friction from drag without tearing or suffering damage, just in case she fails to properly repel the force of drag while moving at high speeds. The suit is also flame-retardant and waterproof, which has come in handy on more than one occasion.
    • A dozen Smith and Wesson SWTK10CP throwing knives, which are usually strapped to her waist. Six of the knives are standard steel, while the other six are laced with various metals and compounds. Two knives are laced with Allicin, one knife's edge is coated with nickel, one is coated with tungsten, one is coated with silicon, and one is coated with iron.
    • Two long, slightly jagged swords that are also sheathed at her waist.
    • Multiple M18 smoke grenades, for infiltration or tight pinches. Due to her suit's constraints, she usually only carries two into battle.

    Weaknesses:
    • Microscopic Vectors: While Ellie can manipulate vectors at the microscopic level to some degree, her ability to control them is somewhat weaker than her ability to control the vectors of macroscopic (visible to the naked eye) objects and forces on those objects. To recall the examples provided in the Powers section, she can manipulate air particles to form vibrations and blasts, but at most, they'll maybe knock an opponent back or briefly stun them. Cloaking herself by manipulating reflected light is possible, but time-consuming, difficult, and prone to failing entirely. If she wants to focus on manipulating microscopic matter, she'll have to briefly focus all of her energy and concentration on it and it alone, leading her to only use the ability sparingly in battle.

    • Zero/Null Vectors: In an odd twist, Ellie cannot manipulate the vector of an object or force if the components of that vector equal zero, otherwise known as a "zero vector" or "null vector". For example, if she sees a rock laying stagnant upon the ground, she won't be able to move it because the object has no magnitude or direction. However, if she kicks or throws that rock before attempting to manipulate it, she will have full control over it, as the rock has now achieved a certain magnitude and direction. This is what prevents her powers from being full-on telekinesis; there needs to be some movement before her powers are "unlocked" so to speak. However, she had found ways to work around this, by using other vectors such as wind to provide an initial push before manipulating the vector.

    • Complex Manuevers: The strain on Ellie's stamina and mental lucidity that comes as a result of using her powers depends on multiple factors, including how many vectors she's controlling at once, the types of vector that she's controlling (matter or force/interaction), the mass of the object/strength of the force, the amount of speed that is being gained or lost (or the angle of redirection) as a result of the manipulation, etc. While she does possess a level of mental cognition well above the average human, she can only control so many vectors before she lets something slip out of the corner of her mind or no longer has the energy to chew what she's bitten off. Repelling a table thrown at her? Fairly straightforward. Accelerating the velocity and reducing the resistance on a thrown knife, while reducing the forces on her own body to allow her to sprint behind cover? Much more difficult and energy consuming. There's also additional factors to consider as well. Adjusting the velocity and force interactions of one object is less complex and energy-draining than adjusting the velocity of one and the force interactions of another. Likewise, adjusting the speed and trajectory of one object is less complex and energy-draining than adjusting the speed and orientation of another. It's this system that prevents her from simply throwing a tank (the maximum mass she's ever moved with a vector was 30 tonnes), accelerating a thrown knife to supersonic speeds, or simply using the power of wind to achieve flight (she'd probably crash in thirty seconds), in addition to making her susceptible to being defeated quite handily if she's ganged or teamed up on, as she will have too many bodies to focus on at once and will quickly be overwhelmed.

    • Allicin Allergy: Like all dhampirs, Ellie will suffer an acute allergic reaction in response to the chemical Allicin. While it is recoverable with the help a simple Epi-Pen and hospital trip, getting that help is...difficult, to say the least. There's not exactly much time in a heated conflict to just call an ambulance, especially for people of her occupation. And sure, while it's not every day you see someone walking down the street with a bottle of Allicin, that's not to say that no one has it or has prepared for it, especially given the recent trend of vampires and dhampirs integrating into human society.

Background:
Job: A majority of her income comes from her work as a mercenary/hitwoman, but she does keep a public identity as a secretary at a bank.
Legal Status: US Citizen, has an officially "clean" criminal record, but has many more anonymous crimes to her name under her alias and persona as a villain.

Backstory: We all know the trope. A baby in a cradle gets left on the doorstep of an orphanage, the parents nowhere to be found. Maybe they're dead, maybe they don't want the responsibility of a child, maybe the kid was abducted, there's never really any clue. For Elizabeth Goldman, it was the first of the three situations. She was the result of a relationship between a vampire father and a human mother, the latter of whom died while giving birth to her. Her father, grief-stricken over the loss and afraid of the responsibility of raising a child, left his daughter at the door of a children's home in Brooklyn and slipped away into the night. Luckily for the crying infant, a young employee was taking the trash out at the same time, and managed to stumble upon the child before anyone else could.

The child, nicknamed "Ellie" by the care home staff and fellow residents, and later by the various foster homes she bounced around through, was a normal infant and toddler, one who cried, and got hungry, and pissed herself, and did a lot of infant and toddler-like things. However, once the young girl started teething, forming elongated, fang-like canines in the process, it was clear that she was far from "normal". After a few blood tests, it was confirmed that she was a dhampir, half-human, half-vampire. It explained a lot of things about her childhood that she didn't necessarily understand at first. Like how she could outrun kids twice her size at recess. Or how her broken arm healed itself just a week. Or why she was always called "Fang" by her roman soldiers, forcing her to walk through class with a crown of thorns. She was a decent student, and fairly well-liked despite the unwanted attention of certain detractors, but when you leave a teenage girl alone with no sense of family, identity, or purpose, she will likely develop something of a rebellious streak, especially if she can run fast enough to lose any neighbourhood watch and jump high enough to hop any fence, no matter the size.

At around the age of 14, she began to use her talents to engage in acts of petty theft, mischief, vandalism, trespassing, and other small acts of rebellion throughout high school, all of it being your standard teenage hoodlum affairs. There was no reason why she did it, it was just fun, exhilarating, suspenseful, something that she was skilled at and had a place in within a life where she had no place and floundered through most things with little skill. It was a wild, insane rollercoaster that went on for three whole years, right up until her seventeenth birthday. It was the kickoff of a new beginning for the young delinquent, but it started with a close call.

To celebrate the joys of seventeen, Ellie and a group of friends managed to slip into a club using a fake ID, and let themselves go wild, dancing and partying the entire night away. However, when the group wasn't dancing or partying, they were hitting on any man in the building and trying their best to pickpocket a wallet or phone in the process. At one point, they did manage to snatch some gullible young guy's wallet as he was leaving the club, pocketing the money and thinking nothing of it. Thirty minutes after the snag, they were still thinking nothing of it, the entirety of the group completely plastered aside from Ellie, who was remaining conscious in order to chat up a guy she met. However, right as she was sealing the deal and getting his number, the guy who's wallet had been snatched came back with two goons, ready to do whatever it took to get the wallet back and break a few noses in the process. As it turns out, it's generally not the smartest idea to snatch a literal mob member's wallet, especially in a crowded nightclub full of distracted people and multiple friends that can barely walk straight.

Yet, despite the stacked odds, Ellie was able to fight off the three men. Actually, she fought them off quite handily, taking down all three with her enhanced strength in thirty seconds flat. She was so shocked at how easy it was that she was barely able to remember to get the hell out of dodge before someone called the cops, giving a little "call me" gesture towards the guy at the bar before sprinting off, four drunkards in tow. She made it home, got yelled at for being past curfew, and collapsed into bed, thinking that it was all just one wild night, a one-off event that was as good as a fever dream.

She didn't think that it would change her life.

The guy from the bar, a handsome fellow named Hugo, called back the next day, asking her if the two could meet up at a local gym. What started as some innocent Wing Chun lessons and sparring sessions soon developed into a budding friendship between the two, and what started as a budding friendship soon blossomed into a textbook romance. Despite the insistence of her foster parents that the 26-year old Hugo was "too old" for her, Ellie still continued to see him, even going as far as to sneak out of the house when she was forbidden to see or contact him. Eventually, after what felt like eons of waiting, she managed to snag a high school diploma, as well as an acceptance to university to study finance and accounting, and was finally able to get herself out of the foster system and move in with Hugo, determined to leave her delinquency behind and come out with a degree and a clean, responsible, mature lifestyle.

Things were going splendidly, up until the financial troubles started to hit. With no family to fall back on and not a whole lot of money saved up, she was barely scraping by in terms of cash flow, beginning to come up short on monthly bill payments due to practically drowning in quickly collecting debt. She quickly fell into a deep depression, getting sucked into the same feelings of hopelessness and lack of direction that had plagued her teenage years, without any of her old shenanigans to fall back on now that she had committed to running on the straight and narrow. So, Hugo did what he had to do to help his girlfriend. And by "help", he meant "turn her into a living weapon".

See, on the surface, her boyfriend was a solid, dependable guy, who had inherited his father's drapery store and made a decent income off of it. What went on in the back of the drapery store was a whole different story. Hugo was a growing big shot in New York's criminal underworld, having inherited his father's contacts and resources in organized crime along with his drapery store. He had eyes and ears in all places, plenty of owed favors from certain men, and when those certain men failed to do the job, he had his own ways of achieving his goals. Thanks to training from a young age, he had become both an intelligent con artist and an expert combatant with fist, knife and gun, able to lure someone in with a silver tongue and stab them in the back in the same breath. It was precisely this level of dedication and training that made him the perfect teacher for his prospective young student. She had always had it in her, even if she hadn't realized. How else would she have made those sprints from the neighborhood watch, or cleared those fences? How else would she have beaten down those goons in literal seconds? Her powers were always present, even going back to her childhood, but never controlled or even realized until she was an adult. She didn't even realize that herself until one all-night study session a year after they had moved in together, in which she threw her textbook at the wall at such a violent speed it nearly plowed into the next room. Once both of them were aware of the potential power, the prospect was too good to pass up.

The two trained together for years, studying everything from swordplay, martial arts, and knife-throwing to foreign languages, memory training, and body awareness, alongside the development of her powers. There would be entire days in which she wasn't allowed to leave the apartment, forced into endless cycles of studying, training, sparring, and sleep that nearly broke her at certain points. Still, it worked splendidly. In just a few years, the progress was enormous, transforming Ellie from a shy, small woman with gifts and no way to utilize them into a strong, confident super-soldier with enough strength to bring down almost any superhuman she faced down. With some of the aforementioned resources, Hugo was able to outfit her with a decent array of weaponry and an extremely durable costume, and thus, Deflector was born. According to her, "Deflector" was a better alias than "Vector" because: "If I call myself 'Vector', everybody will know exactly what my powers are. If I call myself 'Deflector', nobody will expect to see me start walking on air."

Nobody really expected it. At first, Ellie was just an errand girl of sorts for Hugo, moving in and around the city and getting her hands a little bit dirty every now and then. However, upon her own insistence, she began taking on greater roles, becoming Hugo's go-to for any hits, and eventually, becoming his right-hand woman, with even the toughest of superhumans struggled to take her down. After all, how do you fight back when the enemy can fling you against a wall or glide around any attack with the slightest of ease? Once again, Ellie had found purpose and happiness in her life, especially once the money began to flow in and her debts started getting paid. The two had all of the money that they needed, were only growing in influence, and above all, they had each other. They were Bonnie and Clyde, Romeo and Juliet, partners-in-crime and eternally devoted. What could go wrong?

Well, almost everything. Ellie, now 23, was sent by Hugo to deal with a dispute between a few mob members regarding territory, and to bash a few skulls in if she had to. Unbeknownst to either of them, the dispute was a staged diversion that had been engineered with the intent of setting both of them up for ambush. Ellie was ambushed at the site of the "dispute", while Hugo was attacked outside of his own home. The former was able to escape with only light injuries, frantically scrambling back to Queens to warn her beloved of the trap, only to find the store in flames, and an ambulance loading Hugo's body in the back.

It's been six months since then, and she still hasn't really fully recovered. She has a new public identity as a bank secretary, and when she's not under cover, continues to operate as a mercenary, performing odd jobs for whoever pays the highest price. Is it as fulfilling as it once was? No, but is anything really? Right now, all she wants to do is float through life, and wait for the next spark of inspiration, the next high to chase in her life as a thrill junkie.

Hypercapital wrote:Lazerblasts: She can fire green lazers from her eyes, though this only works in close-proximity. She hasn't practiced this enough to be able to get into Midrange. Also these blasts are pointblank, they don't curve to hit the victim (i.e Darkseid's eye blasts)

Please be specific.

How far is close proximity? You mention room distance in your bio but uh...there's a lot of very differently sized rooms. Can you also tell us how much energy is in these laser blasts? Just a rough estimate should do. Oh, and how long can she use this?
Hypercapital wrote:X-Ray Vision: On the tin, though it doesn't work on non-organics (Automata, i.e A.I, Androids, Robots, etc)

So she can only see what's inside of trees/through trees and animals and humans and whatnot?

How far does this reach? How long can this be used?

Hypercapital wrote:Frostbreath: On the tin, however she has to drink Club Soda to use it.

Okay. How cold is this frostbreath? How far does it reach? If it reaches as far as my breath, it certainly won't be freezing anything outside of my arm's reach. And how often/long can she use it?
Hypercapital wrote:Abilities:

  • Flexibility (she's also double-jointed)
  • Ballet and general agility/fast reflexes (Grace/poise)
  • Swordplay
  • Technological savvyness (considered to be "super-savvy" and a talent when it comes to Hacking, Coding, Software.)
  • Swimming (like a fish in water)
  • Bilingualism (English is her Mother Tongue, her second language is French)

She's naturally flexible, but skillful/adept when it comes to every other ability listed.

Interesting that you didn't put her musical talent in here despite it making up a good chunk of the bio and equipment. Anyway...uh...that's great and all for her as an overachiever...maybe strike out the tech savvyness since it doesn't fit in too well with all the rest?

Weaknesses:

Umm.. where to begin?

  • She's not super-strong
  • She's not super-fast/a speedster (she just is agile but that doesn't mean she can run "super-quick")
  • She's not supersmart/intelligent (she's only particularly brainy when it comes to Technology)
  • She doesn't have a Healing Factor
  • She doesn't have super-hearing

I could go on, but imma stop.

These are not weaknesses. Not having a superpower is not a valid weakness.

Imagine your base as a normal 0815 human being. You tack on a power and that is a bonus. Not having another power tacked on is not a malus. You need a malus tacked on to balance out the bonus you got tacked on with the power. You need weaknesses.
Hypercapital wrote:Her fears (Spiders, Snakes and Heights) are essentially Phobias, and can be considered another weakness since a variety of symptoms happen to her when she encounters one, such as:

  • Laziness/Demotivation
  • Tired/Drousy/Fatigue (Fainting or slowly falling asleep)
  • Petrification. (becoming frozen or stuck-in-shape when she sees one or fears that it'll touch/bite her.)

and so on, but notably those. Because of her fear-of-heights, she also fears falling, planes (being in or near one) and climbing, only somewhat-getting over the very latter since she was an athlete and had to participate in that activity/sport.

See, Petrification when facing her fears, that would be a valid weakness. Not enough weakness considering her assortment of powers and abilities but that is an example for a weakness.
Hypercapital wrote:One of her many weaknesses is that essentially she's more suited for solo works since she's not a people-person/bad w/ Teamwork. This doesn't mean that she's asocial, antisocial or introverted. If anything, she's a social butterfly. She just finds it hard/frustrating to work with others, even musically, when her teacher wanted her to play in a quartet.

Personality traits aren't a weakness either. That aside...I am really not sure how being a social butterfly and hating having to work with others connects with each other. That seems...odd.

App coming within the hour! Going to experiment with a curse/hexing power of some kind, a hero not necessarily suited for large-scale confrontations. Never really gone that route so I'll see what I can brainstorm from the concept.

WIP, have the concept for origin story mapped out already but first want to have powers and limitations reviewed to see if I need to expand in the weaknesses section any more than I already noted when listing his abilities. Tried to be as specific as possible with a power that works fairly vaguely :p

EDIT: Background finished up now.
Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Spencer Inwood
    Aliases: Afterlife
    Gender: Male
    Age: Physically 22, actually 34
    Appearance:
    Image

Motivations
Goals: Redemption - After meeting his presumed end, Spencer vengefully pursued the hero that slew him for several years to exact what he considered justice. With the hero's death, Spencer was granted his true return to the material world. He is wracked by guilt over his actions, and has taken to heroism as a personal form of penitence, hoping that it will help him cope in some way.

Protection - After being killed by a reckless hero himself, Spencer hopes to protect the world's citizens from villains while also being aware of the incredible havoc he and his peer's powers can cause.

Fears: Carelessness - A holdover from his own death, his second greatest fear is condemning an innocent bystander to the same fate he suffered over a decade prior due to his own carelessness in confronting a villain.

Death...again - Ironically, his close association with the powers of the afterlife and his own death have left him fearful of the day his new, unnatural life will inevitably end and he will be forced to return to that limbo he escaped from. While he is currently able to be cast back into this realm if his phylactery is removed from his body, the effect is temporary and he will return in a week's time in a location of his choosing. This fear has driven him to sometimes be overly cautious, as he can still be killed magically, given his opponent has the means to severe his phylactery and permanently dispose of it. It also drives him to be extremely opposed to killing his enemies in general, not wanting to subject any soul to the realm his own was cast into.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Spencer's power derives from an inadvertent and cruel pact with a being from another realm. The being appears to him as a purple mist, shaping itself to vaguely resemble a cloaked silhouette.
Powers : Curse/Hex inducement - Spencer's primary ability, he is able to bring ill upon anyone he can name -- either by their given name or aliases he learns. He can also cast simple hexes on objects, for instance, willing a firearm not to work properly for a time. This could mean anything from the weapon suddenly jamming at its most innocent, to the weapon exploding in its wielder's hands at most drastic.

For people the process is similar. If Spencer wishes for them to fall ill, eventually that person will become sick. If he desires they fall and break a specific bone however, or come down with a specific illness, he can't simply speak the hex. He first requires a personal effect of the person, such as hairs or personal belongings. He then offers pieces of himself, ranging from bloodletting for less complex hexes to portions of his very soul for such powerful curses such as imminent death, or incredibly specific wishes. Each time he casts a hex which requires these pieces of himself, he shortens his own after-life-span, hastening his presumed return to abyssal limbo.

All hexes require him to be able to speak, and the curses are at their most powerful the closer he is to the person, acting much more quickly and with more severity. If he were to wish death or sickness upon someone on the other side of the globe, it would take decades for that to materialize.

Unnatural allies - In a 10 foot radius, Spencer is able to call upon powers from the strange realm that entrapped him to offer up assistance in the form of other people the grim afterlife has imprisoned. Without much concentration, he can summon spectral hands and feet reaching from the afterlife into the material world. Most often he uses these extra appendages as boons in close combat, tearing and tripping his opponents, but he can also use them to absorb kinetic projectiles. The limbs possess above-average strength comparable to a professional athlete, but not superhuman. He can summon up to five of any combination.

With much more concentration, he is able to summon another full body, shrouded in a wispy purple smoke, to his aid. He greatly weakens himself physically to do so, and must remain in an inactive state to maintain this effect, unable to take any actions himself. If his concentration is disrupted by a firm blow or a sudden loud noise, the form dissipates. This form possesses strength comparable to Olympic-level lifters, able to toss aside and grapple average men with ease, and overpower most who do not have superhuman strength. Spencer has no control of the figure however, and it does not employ any high-skill martial arts or finer fighting techniques.

Unnatural blades - Spencer can summon six-inch spectral daggers in his hands. These mainly function as normal weapons, but cannot be thrown. If Spencer is able to draw blood with these weapons he can curse the wounded individual more potently.

Medium - While it's unclear to Spencer if the afterlife he ended up bound to is the ultimate destination for everyone, he has been able to commune with people he once knew. To do so requires little effort on his part, if they are willing to speak with him.
Abilities: Out of necessity, Spencer has developed his skills as a close combatant and knife fighter. While he prefers to grapple and attempt to incapacitate foes by either restraining them or breaking limbs if necessary, he is a skilled hand at using the ethereal blades he is able to summon. He is particularly swift with his hands, and his overall agility is notable, trained to compliment his preferred tactics. His skills are most applicable in small-scale confrontations, and his utility against metahumans with powers more suited for direct combat is extremely limited.
Equipment: Spencer produces everything he needs for combat through his powers, but if his phylactery is removed from his person at any time, he will be temporarily cast back into the afterlife he escaped from. It is a crudely crafted golden necklace, a wiry cage twisted around a thick, smooth, purple-black stone. The inside of the gem swirls wildly, giving it the appearance of a deep purple nebula. This jewelry is essentially grafted into his skin, but it can be pried from his person with effort.
Weaknesses: Phylactery - To he defeated in combat, an opponent doesn’t truly need to do anything that would kill Spencer in the traditional sense. If the necklace that serves as his link between planes is removed from his person or destroyed traditionally at any point, he will be removed from the living world for a week’s time.

Personal effects and distance - Spencer is not a formally trained combatant, and his strongest abilities rely on him having easy access to scraps of personal belongings related to his invocations’ targets, as well as his own proximity. Against foes whose abilities are more directly combat applicable this is an extreme difficulty, especially if Spencer faces the issue alone.

Time - Unless Spencer fan acquire both a personal effect of his target and be in close proximity to them, his invocations do not occur in enough time to be practical in combat situations, and even across distances may take days to months to materialize in varying severities, depending on his intent.

Background:
    Job: Full-time TIAMA crimefighter
Legal Status: Since Spencer is officially deceased, he has had difficulty procuring official ID, but he is not wanted or at odds with the law in any way.
Backstory: While Spencer Inwood's original life ended weeks after his 22nd birthday, it had never been particularly noteworthy to begin with. Although Spencer was born into a fairly prominent Richmond, Virginia family, son to a career naval captain and an independent real estate agent, their wealth translated only into a comfortable life. While he wasn't an unpleasant or boring boy growing up, Spencer never truly found any cause to call his own, any desires to chase, or ambitions to strive towards. Coasting through life with a full belly and good company was enough for him, and he never imagined himself doing much more.

Spencer wasn't an exceptional student, but his parents still made enough to send their only child to Dartmouth, where he defaulted into pre-law, since his mother had always wanted him to get involved in the field. The young man was on track to be a fifth-year senior due to his middling grades and uncertainty whether he actually wanted to earn his degree in the field at all.

It was during Spencer's third fall semester that his parents were able to visit Hanover for a belated birthday celebration that their child met his untimely demise. A vigilante hero, some young man in a mask who wanted to make a difference in a typically sleepy community, had failed to quickly defuse a small-scale mugging by a criminal who had powers of his own.

Spencer never really saw much more of this scuffle than the fireball that burst into the restaurant he and his parents had sat down inside. He felt the intense heat on his face, shards of glass and splinters in his hands, and then uneasy stillness.

It was some time before Spencer realized the stillness around him was moving, and longer still before he was finally able to control his body, reach his hand out, and part the oppressive purple mists dancing around him. Morbid visions appeared to him as he navigated this unfamiliar place -- his body burning away in the decimated eatery, his parents' narrow escape and grief.

When he'd finally processed everything he saw, at least the portions he was shown through the thick veil surrounding him and making him feel sluggishly detached from his own body, he could do nothing but fall to his knees and utter an inhuman howl into the smoky void. He prayed for the entire experience to be imagined, with no luck. In desolate isolation and fury building within him, and fear of facing this bleak afterlife for eternity, the only thing he wished was to be able to kill the man who had cut his own life short.

When his misty prison took the form of a man and offered him the power to do so -- even offering the hero's life in exchange for his own -- Spencer needed no convincing. For two years he worked alongside this mysterious entity, tracking ghostly apparitions of this flame-hero through mist shrouded locales, moving in another realm while being granted vision of the living world. Spencer reached out when these mimics came close, but he was unable to affect the man physically.

It was hate-filled invocation that prompted the hero's death. Two years after his death, and mere seconds after he was granted the liberating vision of the reckless hero being gunned down by armed thugs, Spencer Inwood arose in a motel room in the New Hampshire town of Groton. Before him in the dimly lit bunk was the same, deep purple mist man that had seduced him into delivering a fresh soul to whatever limbo he ruled over, explaining the price Spencer would pay and the power he would yield. Inevitably Spencer would return to that place, but for now he had his life and unnatural abilities tied to his new half-life.

While Spencer was overjoyed to walk among the living again, guilt slowly crept into his conscience. It descended to recurring nightmares of the hero's death, leading Spencer to research for weeks to turn up any sign that the man may not be dead after all, but all the news he could find only confirmed what he knew to be true.

Spencer finally found his ambition, however. For the past decade he has aimed to protect the people of the world while cleansing his own guilty mind, but only recently has he been in contact with TIAMA as a sponsored member.

Hypercapital wrote:[box]
Weaknesses:

Umm.. where to begin?

  • Yeah. I know personality traits aren't weaknesses, though I do see her not being a people-person as one, as TIAMA is people-oriented. That'd be a crutch/weakness to her.
  • Technically, not having traditional powers (like superspeed or strength) are weaknesses. If she's just a swordsman who has powers around sense (breath, x-ray and super-sense-of-smell), then she'd be weak in other areas like strength or intellect (I did mention she's a C-student)

And I also have Tennerman as a char that focuses around Science/Tech/Intellect (just felt like mentioning it, there)
  • I never really saw it as an ability. Maybe as an entertainer, yeah, but it's not like one of those chars where music is their power or something.
  • Yeah. I already said I wasn't good w/ practical weaknesses. I had to list the many inadequacies, as I do see them as weaknesses, but nothing like "oh, that counteracts her breath" or "oh, that counteracts her swordplay," or whatever.
  • Square footage. I'm not good w/ numbers/measurement, irl. I may have to count-up the tiles of my room, since I was thinking of something like that. I did say she was close-ranged w/ her icebreath, but not enough to reach a villain/enemy/victim two+ blocks away.
  • X-ray? Yeah, it'd only work on organic creatures/organisms, like humans, dogs, trees, flowers and whatnot. It doesn't work on inorganic things (I used Automata as an example) though, which is its blindspot.
  • Strikeout the tech-savvyness? I think I can do that, since she has touch (technically. It's ballet/flexibility) so that'd make sense. Also b/c George has a Scientific Mind, so that kinda makes him tech-savvy/an IT guy by Default.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Oskar Dirlewanger
    Aliases: Butcher of Wola/Dirlewanger
    Gender: Male
    Age: 125 years
    Appearance:
    Image

Motivations
Goals: War, any and all war and all that comes with it.
    Fears: The Phoenix

Strengths and Weaknesses

Source of Power: Undead Nazi Officer in a mechanical cyborg body.
Powers :
  • Undead
Kept alive by Dr. Mengele's pseudoscience, what is left of Dirlewanger's body would normally not be enough to continue functioning, especcially not after having ceased to do so once already. Still, he continues to be alive in his strange unlife. Age has not had an effect upon him, neither have sicknesses. A need to breathe does not exist either. He cannot even feel temperatures. Or pain. Loss of any organs outside of his brain is not fatal.
  • Mechanazi
Dirlewanger sports a mechanical shell/replacements now that his biological body is barely capable of moving. Constructed back in the late 40s and since then continuosly upgraded, it makes the foul creature inside it a deadly weapon. The armour could tank a high velocity 3,7 cm armour piercing shell (though joints only 12,7mm AP). The lifting strength of Dirlewanger increased to 15 tons by now. His moving speed is at 50 km/h. His new and improved body weighs about 800 kg.
  • Sensors
Being now trapped within his new body of steel, Dirlewanger experiences the outside world through an array of sensors. Audio sensors normally recording within 20 Hz to 20 kHz. By manually calibrating them he can increase the range to ranges between 10 Hz to 30 kHz. Loudspeaker capable of transmitting his voice at volumes up to 120 db. Dirlewanger is also limited to only one eye and thus only one video sensor. It is however capable of 32x zoom as well as equipped with regular vision, black-white vision, negative vision, infrared, heat and nightvision.
  • Experimental Reactor
Dirlewanger's suit is powered by an experimental reactor within his chest, supplying him with seemingly endless amounts of stamina. The reactor normally runs at 50% of its possible output but the output can be increased by Dirlewanger to 100% within 10 seconds, which leads to all his suit's active capabilities (strength, speed) doubling for 30 seconds. This however produces immense amounts of heat and should Dirlewanger attempt to use this overcharge for more than 30 seconds, his suit's wiring is going to start burning...and what remains of his body as well. The reactor takes 1 hour to cool down enough to become safely usable again.
  • The Butcher's Claws
Rather than hands, Dirlewanger possesses rather sharp tungsten claws, easily capable of cutting deep and hard. He is capable of launching his claws at targets to grab/hold/kill what is further away. They roughly have a velocity of 122 m/s. Launched at targets within a 10 m range, the claws can be kept connected to his main body through a steel cable which can be pulled in again mechanically. For longer range launches, Dirlewanger can decide to disconnect the cable, which will increase the range to 50 m. Lastly, Dirlewanger is capable of heating up the tungsten claws to roughly 1600°C within a mere 15 seconds, though he needs to use the claws during the heat up phase already as, once heated up, he only has 5 seconds left to use his claws.
Abilities:
  • CQC Specialist
  • Explosives Specialist
  • Firearms Specialist
  • Inspiring Loyalty/Discipline through Fear
  • Skilled Tactician
Equipment:
  • Standard Issue SS Sabre
  • Walther P38
  • 4+1 magazines
  • 4 M112 Demolition Blocks, inside his thighs and upper arms
Weaknesses:
  • Unfeeling
Being undead, Dirlewanger's nerves do not quite work that well anymore. The suit does not register temperatures, outside of reactor or claw temperatures either, so Dirlewanger would be incapable of judging wether things get too hot or cold for him before he or his suit actually start malfunctioning.
  • Electromagnetic Weakness
Lightning based or EMP attacks are highly effective against Dirlewanger, shutting off the machinery that surrounds him and turning him into a metal statue. Efforts have been made to protect Dirlewanger in case of such attacks and so the generator is generally closed off for protection during such attacks and Dirlewanger's body is generally safe from the electricity.
  • Unstable Reactor
Damage to the reactor, which is a highly fickle machine, will cause the detonation of the reactor, after which Dirlewanger freezes. Following the detonation, an unstable, tiny black hole forms where the reactor's core used to be, killing Dirlewanger in the process and sucking in anything within a 20 meter radius, strongly pulling at what's beyond that, before collapsing into itself and disappearing.
  • Declawed
Heating the Claws for more than 20 seconds (that includes the 15 second heat-up time), will cause the joints, where they are connected to the hand, to melt, the claws thus falling off and leaving Dirlewanger with little more than stumps.

Background:
    Job: Terrorist Leader
Legal Status: Internationally wanted war criminal and terrorists for thousands of counts of murder, rape and torture, assistance in genocide, ordering or bringing about the deaths of hundreds of thousands, multiple acts of terrorism.
    Backstory:
Oskar Dirlewanger's life started as unassuming as one might get. Being the son of a of a bavarian businessman, he certainly did not grow up lacking anything. He received plenty of food and a good education in the Kingdom of Württemberg, one of the states within the German Empire at the time. Given the all pervasive militarism within imperial german society, it was also no great surprise that he volunteered for service in the in the army in 1913, immediately after having finished his school, being assigned to a machinegun company. His service had not yet ended when the Great War finally broke out and so Dirlewanger was sent into the west together with his company, working on the execution of the Schlieffen Plan and piling up tons of bodies in their wake...civilian and military as the Rape of Belgium took its toll.

It was here, in the trenches and among the bodies of the dead and dying that the young man who was Oskar Dirlewanger truly found his passion. His life had been bland and boring up untill now but this war, this fulfilled him like nothing had ever before. The adrenaline of death ever so close, this control over life and death all around him, the carnage which he found beautiful in his own perverse imagination. He could not get enough of it! Even after having been wounded multiple times, his arm having become barely usable and the army considering 40% wounded, enough for him to get a free pass back to a simple office job or out of the army and back into civilian life, he immediately volunteered again for frontline service upon being able to somewhat move again.

This remained a constant for Dirlewanger who would gather 6 wounds during his wartime service and receive the proper medals for it as well as the promotion to Lieutenant for his outstanding service which he finished in 1918 in Ukraine. Disobeying direct orders for internation in Rumania, Dirlewanger led his 600 strong force back through Rumania and into Germany where he was released fromt he army which frantically tried to follow the demands of the Entente in the Treaty of Versailles.

Yet Dirlewanger found no rest. The war had awakened a beast within him and it was not sated. Outfitted with his skills, prestige, unbridled rage over the defeat of his fatherland and a racist worldview induced by his service on the eastern front, Dirlewanger spent the next years in the german Freikorps roaming the country, seeking his thrill in putting down soviet revolutions and executing alleged communist collaborators. Yet he could not keep fighting forever and when he was headshotted in action in Silesia in 1921, Dirlewanger had to drop the Freikorps business to nurse himself back to full health. Yet the man could not keep still, picking up studies in Economic Sciences in Mannheim that same year...and being exmatriculated that same year for anti-semitism. He didn't give up though and continued studying in Frankfurt, gaining a doctorate in State Sciences in 1922.

Politically Dirlewanger was among the worst in Germany, signing up with the NSdAP in 1922 and the Nazis' SA in 1923 already just go get his thrills fighting the communists again now that the times of open and armed revolt and suppression had started to fade. But the Weimar Republic banned the SA, leaving Dirlewanger to sit inactive and with nobody left to punch to cope with his anger and rage. And so he instead gave himself to the bottle, drowning himself, his perverse needs and his grief and rage in a sea of alcohol while switching jobs as quickly as bottles. By 1928 he had become an executive director in a jewish-owned textile factory, keeping his anti-semitism low as well as having left the SA...but embezzled money which he donated to the SA in bulk, finding special pleasure within the fact that he made the jews pay for their own demise. Yet he was eventually forced to give up this job, having to work as an independent tax consultant but being rather quickly bailed out by his nazi friends, awarding him an SA position of power that could keep him afloat.

After Hitler assumed power Dirlewanger, as an "old fighter" and loyal member of the party was awarded an even higher position in a job center, allowing the nazis to strategically spread their influence over the unemployed. But as it always is in alliances of radicals...once the common enemy is defeated, they try to eat each other like sharks, the same going for Dirlewanger who complained about other old fighters about a lack of loyalty and the like which led to formerly suppressed charges against him being brought to light. He was convicted of the rape of possibly up to three minors in 1934 and sent to prison for 2 years. He also lost his doctorate and all his military honours. Upon release from prison he was charged with embezzlement, specifically the embezzlement he had done to support the party and SA. This time he was sent to the early concentration camps. But Dirlewanger had friends in high places. Friends who would not forget the services he had done them back in 1918, bringing them past the Rumanians and back to Germany without internment. Gottlob Berger, a high ranking memeber of the SS and former comrade of Dirlewanger, got him back out of there and had him sent to Spain together with the Legion Condor to wash his name clean with what he did best. Military service.

Dirlewanger served with disctintion among the Legion Condor where he also made new contacts, among those the head of the SSAfP, Haegler, who was testing out new weapons and methods of warfare. The two men got along, both absolutely lacking empathy or any form of feeling for their fellow humans and unrivalled in their ruthlessness. And as Dirlewanger returned in 1940 from Spain, he immediately entered the SS as well and, with his new alliances, managed to have a new court pick up his criminal cases and reinstate his doctorate and his military honors in a sham session. The advantages of a totalitarian state and being among the oppressors rather than the oppressed.

With the support of Haegler and Berger who had won over Himmler, Dirlewanger was put in charge of an entirely new unit, a penal battalion consisting only of gun-using poachers. Due to a lack of recruits the requirement was soon loosened to just poachers. He trained this unit, he built this unit and when they were sent east, to Lublin, they showed the depths of the new regime's depravity to the local polish and jewish population. Rape, looting, torture were common while Dirlewanger was there with his men, the situation becoming so bad that even fellow members of the SS wanted to have Dirlewanger and his unit removed from the organisation. But the madman had powerful allies in his back which saw a great future for the unit and so it was instead sent further east, into Belarus to quell local partisan resistance.

This was where the atrocities only began. The small but effecient Dirlewanger brigade took the words of the nazi leadership about the war of extermination in the eas to heart. Drinking, looting, raping, pillaging and murdering they travelled across the belarussian landscape, leaving nothing but the charred remains of villages and corpses in their wake. They rarely caught actual partisans and when they did, they took care of them with their superior equipment and supply situation as well as a complete and utter disregard for casualties. Dirlewanger, being a well respected and charismatic leader among his men, a leader who led from the front and partook or even ordered every depravity these soldiers could think of whipped the unit ever onward into a bloodthirsty frenzy in which the soared across the plagued country.

The unit was continuosly reinforced with every dreg of society the nazis could find. Mental asylum patients, murderers, rapists, thiefs and thugs. And Dirlewanger let his connections to the SSAfP play. The people within the unit were already seen as worthless so it took little convincing to have the SSAfP use them as test subjects in their perverted experments, creating the dreaded, mechanical warriors that the unit would later field.

The climax of the carnage came in 1944. The Warsaw Uprising. Hitler demanded that the city be razed to the ground and its people be made an example of. The SS complied, sending the worst they had into the city. The Dirlewangers which turned the city into pure hell for the duration of the uprising. The poles fought bravely yet what was bravery in the face of such overwhelming terror? Gas attacks, flamethrowers and mechanical monstrosities ruled the streets. Civilians were lucky to be only displaced as tens of thousands perished in the city. By the time the nazis were finished, 90% of Warsaw was in ruins.

Dirlewanger and his unit were then reassigned to Slovakia to quell the national uprising there before being withdrawn from the frontline on command of the SSAfP. The core of the unit as well as all paranormal units were removed, the unit instead being outfitted and expanded with concentration camp inmates and Wehrmacht penal troops and designated as a Waffen Grenadier Division before being sent back. Dirlewanger, wounded due to a chest shot, was also withdrawn and told to hide out in an alpine hut in Bavaria while the SSAfP would attempt to get him and his unit out as stealthily as possible. But fate caught up with Dirlewanger, french troops finding and arresting him in his hut ont he 7th of May 1945.

And his life of debauchery and cruelty received its just punishment as Dirlewanger was killed exactly a month later by polish prison guards who had recognized the man. He was brutally beaten to death overnight in his cell, the true identities of his killers never found out. And given their victim, nobody ever wanted to. Dirlewanger's body was buried just a week later.

But that was not the end...Wehrwolf loyalists recovered the body shortly after on orders of the dreaded Dr. Mengele who in turn was under orders to ensure Dirlewanger's survival. Mengele had little to work with, given that Dirlewanger's body was in bad shape, the bones and organs being mostly destroyed and the body having already started to rot...but Mengele was one of the best in the Nazis' pseudoscience and he found a way to reanimate Dirlewanger's corpse, tearing his soul back from the endless abyss it had been sent to and bringing an unlife back to his broken body. Dirlewanger would be once more. Now, his body was in no shape to continue fighting so Mengele had to give Dirlewanger the same treatment as he had given many of his men during the war. The application of a mechanical shell, a body that would be able to do what Dirlewanger's actual body was incapable of. The nazi scientist built the metal shell around the nazi zombie he had created, cladding the rotten flesh in armour and inserting hydraulics and electric currents into it. And in 1946, Dirlewanger would walk once again, his new body a marvel of human engineering and far beyond its time.

Following his rebirth, Dirlewanger was suddenly faced with the grim realization, that although he was alive again, he could not partake in life anymore. It was unlife that had been given to him and he was still dead for all intents and purposes. His body was not actually working, even though it was moving. His senses seemed dulled or something for he could not feel as he had felt before. Not the soft breeze, the warmth, see the vibrancy of colours...nothing. Life had become dull and grey...

...except for one thing. Blood. When Dirlewanger made his first kill with his new body, he spilled a lot of blood and was surprised by its colour and sudden vibrancy. It was life force, life force that was spilling out and he could see it. And it was the most beautiful thing he had ever watched, seeing it all spill out of the body and vanish. Well, perhaps it wasn't the most beautiful but it was the only thing that made him feel alive. Killing people. Brutally. It also allowed him to finally live out his anger, borne from his envy of those who were still living.

Dirlewanger made his way to the Middle East in 1947, his trusty sense of conflict knowing exactly where he would find it, find the opportunity to kill, find the opportunity for war. He served as an advisor to the Syrian and Egyptian regimes from 1948 to the Yom-Kippur War in 1973, creating ties and networks first for OdeSSA and then for the emerging SSAfP. Having finally been ousted from Syria, Dirlewanger was forced to flee to Lebanon from where he started marshalling smaller groups for smaller attacks on Israel before being forced out of Lebanon by the Israeli invasion of 1982, forcing him to yet again seek shelter...this time in Iraq where he became an advisor to Saddam Hussein, his knowledge and experience being much appreciated in the first Gulf War that Iraq found itself in. He was also the one in charge of the infamous WMD project that led to the final US invasion of Iraq and forced Dirlewanger to abandon ship once again and make his way west, back to Syria where he would would act in an advisory role to the Assad family, most recently being behind the gas attacks in the Syrian Civil War and an argent proponent of the usage of barrel bombs.

With the fall of the SSAfP, Dirlewanger vanished from the Middle Eastern theatre, likely doing his own part to try and keep the organisation together despite all the forces from within and without tearing at it.

  • Yeah. I know personality traits aren't weaknesses, though I do see her not being a people-person as one, as TIAMA is people-oriented. That'd be a crutch/weakness to her.

Perhaps but not a valid one. You can certainly keep it in her bio as a weakness of hers but it will not count towards a weakness in the weakness section of the app.

  • Technically, not having traditional powers (like superspeed or strength) are weaknesses. If she's just a swordsman who has powers around sense (breath, x-ray and super-sense-of-smell), then she'd be weak in other areas like strength or intellect (I did mention she's a C-student)

Perhaps I use the phrase of the 0815 human without explaining it, don't I?

0815 is a german saying referring to something old and normal. Average.

Imagine Avery without any of her powers and without most of her abilities, okay? That is a perfectly balanced Avergy. Imagine her like an empty scale.

You add frostbreath on on side and suddenly the scale tips. You add more powers and abilities on that side and the scale tips more and more while the other side remains empty because you don't actually add any weaknesses.

The lack of an additional weight to even further tip the scale is not a weaness. The scale is already tipped, you now need to stack weaknesses on the other side to try and balance it out.

  • I never really saw it as an ability. Maybe as an entertainer, yeah, but it's not like one of those chars where music is their power or something.

Yeah, it wasn't so much of a critique from me anyways, just found it odd.

  • Yeah. I already said I wasn't good w/ practical weaknesses. I had to list the many inadequacies, as I do see them as weaknesses, but nothing like "oh, that counteracts her breath" or "oh, that counteracts her swordplay," or whatever.

But like, they're not inadequacies. The regular average Joe has all of the inadequacies and none of her adequacies.

Something like how to counter her breath would indeed be good. As said, we need some actual, specific weakness. Does she need to eat A LOT? Does she have a deadly, power cancelling allergy to something? Etc.

Well, short range can mean a lot of things. There's anything between basically arm length and two blocks. So yeah, please, just pick some specific numbers that we can work with.

Roger on the X-Ray. Make sure to define it's limits.

Uhm...did I miss something or does George have anything to do with Avery?

Apologies, but for now I shall be shelving Nori and Hibana. Perhaps I'll use them here or elsewhere in the future, but for now I don't really think I can or want to play them anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for letting me play~~~ v-v

Not for a while, I don't think. I'm going to take a break from making things and will focus on maintaining just a few things for now.

I've swamped myself whilst already swamped on different fronts.. It doesn't feel good.

Yeah, I know that feeling.

Or knew.

It's been a while since I've last overtaken myself in RPs. Suppose I learned well from that one time.

Good luck to you!
