I recommend attending the coronation. The (official) funeral simply happened too quickly for most to have time to travel to it,* but there's a bit more than a week to travel to the coronation in Asheville.

I'm not sure I grasp what the dispute is, but if it doesn't have to do with backstory I encourage it to be moved to the IC. There are no doubt going to be territorial disputes. I'd just as well accept an application from someone else whose character claims to be the King of Texas, because that would breed conflict. If there's disagreement over what backstory and history is canon, if you want my input you can make a clear statement of the issue — though it seems like you're all resolving those problems between yourselves fine without my intervention.

*Vincent was probably already in Asheville for some reason, no need to edit that first IC post.

So, are we going to see the ceremony played out? Should our characters be arriving for the ceremony, or has the ceremony already passed?

What does it mean by the North is still meeting in Washington? Wouldn't the city be in Confederate territory in this TL according to the map?

I'd start in the moments after the ceremony. In fact, I can make a brief post setting the scene for a reception.

It is part of the Empire of the South, to be sure, but the Empire isn't exercising much influence there. The Empire, as a whole, is not especially strong; it's as we move down the feudal ladder that people start to exercise power. So while the Emperor is nominally the leader of, say, Georgia, the Prince of Georgia is going to have much more influence there, and the Duke of Atlanta has the real power in Atlanta.

That would be most excellent.

Thanks for the clarification! And yes that would be helpful.

Duke of North Carolina? You could relate him to William T Sherman or Johnston or smth.

Benicio "Benny" Thomas de Tejada - (1839 - Present)
Account Name: Lux Pulchrae
Occupation: Whatever job needs working/occasional bounty hunter
Motives: Money and eventually make it east and go back to his family's homeland
Background:

Born in 1839 to a family of New Mexican lowly ranchers out west. Around the age of 19, while fetching provisions in the nearby town, Benny returned to see the ranch burnt, cattle stolen and his family killed by an Apache raid. Burying his family, he attempted to rebuild the ranch shortly after, but to no avail. Hearing tales throughout the years of his father's family, the Tejadas, who were a wealthy merchant and expeditionary family in their home country of Lux Pulchrae, Benny kept those tales in his heart and mind in the decades following his family's massacre, deeply wanting to return to home he never knew.

Over the years he's worked many jobs and killed many men, luckily he avoided the war, having no real care for the south and rarely seeing a slave. As the southern empire rose, he did as he always had, working odd jobs and bringing in any bounty that was offered to him.

A stereotypical silent type with no patient for nonsense and no love for Indians either, Benny's had enough of America and is fixing to get himself to the East Coast and the first ship back to Europe.

Titles/Positions: other than "Benny", none
Holdings: a horse named Rodrigo, a revolver, a bolt rifle.
Politics: none
Faith: Roman Catholic, if there's a church nearby

A legal, or less than legal, battle for railroad rights would be interesting

You catch my second character?

Also, I could say I haven't physically left the area yet so I could somehow squeeze my way back into Biltmore. Maybe if he happens to hear that the Queen of Louisiana was at the coronation, he might turn around.

I'm including mention of Louisiana nobility in my next post. You can decide whether it would apply to Duchamp

Yes, I've been seeing the second characters. I'll add them to the OP and make it known if there's any objection to them.

Considering this is 1870s Game of Thrones I wonder what’s the closest thing to a dragon I can bring to the south.

An elephant with a cannon attached to it. Or a maxim/gatling gun

Tag, this looks like a fantastic concept. What is currently happening in-character, and are there any characters that need to be filled?

Currently, nobles attending the reception for the new emperor.

Komodo dragons and elephants with guns on their backs? My character might be eccentric enough to try.
