Super! I like the character, accepted. She will be teamed up with a slightly jumpy Kiel Engineer (one of the two remaining original mutineers who stole it from Command) who has a better relationship with the ship than most people :P

Many thanks!

Accepted as well, the Dhasath are getting plentiful on this station.

Oh well. The creature itself is around as big as a human heart.

Grand. So the character is accepted, however, because the Mercija story feels quite similar to the Jokari at this point I would like to brainstorm some ideas with you when we are both on the Discord at the same time to jazz them up a bit and give them a bit of an exciting edge. The biology is grand, though if it was me I definitely would have gone for a shell more like this:

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Vesash Cook is extremely knowledgeable within the fields of physics, civil engineering, industrial engineering, and computer science - having a Doctor of Philosophy(s) in all four fields. In his 40 years within the Kiel-Command, researching and doing projects for the Command, Vesash has gained a deep understanding of the Kiel-government and its inner workings at the top-echelons. More deeper than that is his understanding of the Kiel-science community at the top levels.
Weaknesses: Vesash Cook is not a fighter, while he was in his youth during his tour, Vesash cannot handle a gun or himself in a fistfight. Second, Vesash is not as physically fit as he was before. Now in his middle-ages, Cook cannot do anything too physically demanding. So, don’t expect him to be fit.

Background:
Role on Ship: Janitor/Ship Maintenance (Officially on the books). His real role is being a researcher/engineer expert for the crew, but Cook does not mind to clean up the ship either.
    Faction Alignment: N/A
Personality: Over his years, Cook has maintained a cheerful and positive attitude to life, even though the whole galaxy is not nice towards him. Cook is chill, he is not overly serious nor is he goofy. It’s hard to describe him overall. If anything, he is supportive of people, and tries to be friendly towards people. Basic human decency, if you will.
Backstory: In youth, Cook has always been poor. A chief reason is why he joined up for the Kiel-military due to its benefits of higher education and better financial status. Before the First Kiel-Ragon War, Cook had been sent around the galaxy to quell various rebel cells and uprisings as a part of the 1054th Infantry Division. Once the First Kiel-Ragon war kicked off, Cook was moved towards its front-lines. For years, Cook was involved in multiple major land battles that ranged from brutal urban combat in major Kiel cities, to massive open-plain mechanized warfare against Ragon strongholds, and likewise. Lucky for Cook, he managed to not die during his tour. After the war, Cook stayed for two more years before he left to pursue his higher education in physics, civil engineering, industrial engineering, and computer science. It took Cook, 33 years of hard work and study, to successfully gain his Doctor of Philosophy in all four fields. For the next 40 years, Vesash researched and did many projects for the betterment of Kiel society and technology. Nearing his middle-age, the news of the wormhole had Cook go explore the thing. Wanting to discover, research, and invent new technology, Cook found himself at the Beachhead station where he found the Defiance recruiting people. Thus, Cook applied for a spot as a Janitor and ship maintenance. But why join this lonely ship? Cook could have easily been a Kiel representative in the Command due to being a prominent researcher. Good question. You see, Vesash had to flee the Kiel-state because Cook became the head of a political party that advocated for the freedom and more economic rights to slaves. Which quickly lead to Cook being labeled as a traitor to the Kiel-state.

2 things before you get accepted, change the last name to something a bit more Kiellar like, there is a name generator for the Kiellar on the OP. Also there are no open political parties in the KC given its a military dictatorship so maybe change it to him being part of a politcal faction that sought to liberate slaves or something like the underground railroad or even "was aligned with the Federalist movement" will suffice.

Character Description
    Name: Ealamassi “Massi” Iltasaddaqqartum
Species: Te-Gorial(Extreme Boreal Subspecies of Gorial made for life on Tegukin, a world significantly colder than most inhabited worlds. As they are a subspecies, I will simply detail the notable changes:
For the most part, the Te-Gorialax are much like their parent species, and still are capable of interbreeding with other Gorialax, but possess a few key modifications. In order to comfortably inhabit the frigid but resource-rich world of Tegukin, they have been modified to possess blood that is a solution of Ammonia and liquid water, which enables them to comfortably live in significantly colder temperatures than would otherwise be possible for Gorialax, although hotter temperatures do pose more of a health concern, as one might imagine. Due to this blood, their body temperature and therefore metabolism are noticeably lower than that of the normal Gorialax, and possess a slightly longer life as a result of this slowed metabolism. They are shorter, stockier, and paler compared to the average Gorialax, with more stamina but less speed, in further adaptation to the cold world they colonised. Naturally, these changes have been achieved largely in part due to genetic engineering, but have certainly had aid from Mother Nature courtesy of Bergmann's Rule.)
    Gender: F
Age: 16(Not that she’ll say so)
    Appearance:
    Image
    Image
Although by Te-Gorialax standards lanky, Massi is a fairly healthy, if small Gorial. Standing at a petite 145(4’9”) and weighing 29kgs(64lbs), she’s certainly no heavyweight, but, though her torso is quite thin, she holds true to the strong lower body of the Gorialax with a broad-hipped, stoic lower half, giving her a distinctive delicate pear shape. Her hands, though otherwise dainty and well groomed with inky black painted nails, have calloused palms like those of an outdoorsman. She has slightly larger than average incisors, and a chipped canine tooth.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Massi is a resourceful and generally excellent cook. Having grown up on Tegukin, she’s a capable survivalist, decent with natural remedies, and a good shot to boot. She’s a good singer with a surprisingly rich singing voice and wide vocal range, plays the Gishgiidazami(Also known as the Gishazmi, a string instrument resembling morin khuur, albeit with different aesthetic appearance), and is a good whistler. Using her slightly large front teeth, she can use her bottom lip and sound as if she is playing the kazoo.
Weaknesses: Massi isn’t very physically strong. Personality-wise, she has a bit of a temper when it comes to inanimate objects, and can be rather flippant at times. Although she’s a keen learner, her attention span is limited somewhat, and hotter temperatures make her sluggish and exacerbate her orthostatic hypotension.

Background:
Role on Ship: Chef, Supplementary Soldier
Faction Alignment: Passively loyal to the Federation
Personality: Something of a disillusioned perfectionist, Massi values quality, and endeavours to put it into her work, but sometimes haphazardly rush things she finds particularly frustrating. Regardless, she understands the value of a good first impression, and does her best to charm her elders with a smile, a lighthearted greeting, and many an appropriate joke. As she becomes more settled, other aspects of her personality begin to show more clearly. When all cards are down, she has the mouth of a sailor, and a propensity for dismissing criticism when she thinks someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about. “Well do you wanna show me how to do it then?” is a common response of hers with people she dislikes, emblematic of her “if you don’t like it my way, do it yourself” attitude. That said, when she does consider someone more knowledgeable than her, or she herself is dissatisfied with her work, she will not hesitate to ask a myriad of questions. Like most Gorialax, she is a very intimate person, and most naturally greets with hugs and kisses. Of course, she understands that others may not necessarily appreciate it, but it remains her default.
    Backstory:
Tegukin is perhaps the coldest planet to be permanently inhabited by the Gorialax. This cold, rocky world orbits a K-class dwarf. While not as cold as a red dwarf, these orange stars are dimmer than most of the preferred suns for humanoid species, and so habitable worlds are fewer and more far between. However, Tegukin’s system, known as the Tegukin system, bears immense quantities of rare elements, particularly lithium. Of more interest to the Federation, however, is the outer rim of the system, which possesses remarkably few asteroids. However, this scant collection of asteroids composes the single largest deposit of naturally-occurring antimatter in the Milky Way Galaxy, if not the accessible universe.

This peculiar system’s namesake is equally peculiar. Thanks to its cool star and orbit straddling the edge of the habitable zone, much of the ringed world glimmers with ice and a spectacular ring system full of colour visible even in the day. Twin moons distant orbit the planet outside of the ring system. These moons are tidally locked with one another, in a death dance believed to be millions, perhaps even a billion years off from conclusion. But their proximity has promoted extensive volcanic activity which feeds the vast Tegukin ring system.

Tegukin’s biosphere likewise does not disappoint. Although taiga, frigid grasslands, and icy swamps dominate much of the lower latitudes, higher latitudes take on a more unrecognisable form. Much of the world’s oceans lay encapsulated in ice, particularly in the southern hemisphere. Meanwhile, much of the north’s terrestrial area possesses a craggier landscape that hosts innumerable lakes, many of which border between lakes and inland seas. This creates an interesting arctic landscape, for the north possesses plentiful clear ice sheets that provide sight into the depths of these lakes. Life carries on beneath the sheets relatively peacefully. Terrestrial life, meanwhile, has become hardy in order to thrive. Many great furry beasts roam the surface, creating a landscape not dissimilar to the megafauna-filled world of the Pleistocene, albeit naturally the closer one looks, the more alien the world becomes.

Besides the native creatures, there are the Te-Gorial, engineered to make life on such a hostile world just a bit more bearable. Although friendly and communal, they are a hardy people. Scattered across the surface of Tegukin are many buildings that resemble apartment complexes and compounds, connected to the rest of the world only via a web of subterranean tunnels and passages. These are the residences of the Te-Gorial. And, in one of these familial complexes lives the Iltasaddaqqartum clan, who are now missing a certain sister, daughter, mother, and Gishgiidazami player by the name of Ealamassi.

Ealamassi began life much like most any other Gorialax—meandering from the arms of the relative serving as midwife straight into a communal nursery filled with her brothers and sisters. Even in the distant reaches of the Tegukin system, the Federation’s education system finds its way. And so, she received the galactic standard of education. Though her teachers were naturally limited by proximity, familial aid was always ready to fill in the gaps. Given that she lived in one of the last inhabited regions before the vast ice caps, Ealamassi, like many other Te-Gorial in similar situations, had the benefit, or perhaps misfortune, of an accelerated school curriculum. Indeed, before her departure, she was on track to formally graduate almost two years ahead of schedule.

But, the circumstances of her departure are perhaps the most interesting. Though, particularly on Tegukin, teen pregnancy is not necessarily taboo, and intercourse within the clan may occur, Ealamassi’s situation was somewhat different. Though conceiving with one of her “brothers” at age 15 was, though not ideal, also not horrible culturally, her utter disinterest in acting as one of the nannies in the nursery given that she was now an expecting mother took much of her family aback, as it is generally a job taken with pleasure by expecting parents, men and women alike.

No, Massi had, in her mind, better things to do. All kids are everyone’s kids, as it goes for the Gorialax. After giving birth, she soon volunteered to head into the nearest major settlement with a kilometre-long list of things to buy. She stuffed the largest suitcase she could find with all of her belongings of any meaning to her, and, after lying to say it was to help carry things, left with wads of cash in hand for the purchases. However, she never did return. Instead, she kept riding the underground tracks all the way to the spaceport. There, she purchased tickets off the world, and hopped from place to place, looking for decent work. Finally, at Beachhead Station, she was unable to muster enough money for another ticket to continue cursory searches for tickets, and so she finally found work as a chef aboard the Defiance, although the price she had to offer did not bring her much joy.

And here's one I've been working on...

Character Description
    Name: Tava Drialina Gebeth
    Species: Berdikon
    Gender: Female 'Freemartin'
    Age: 34
Appearance: Tava is a slightly taller than average berdikon (5'7'') with dark hair and unusual heterochromatic eyes (her left eye is brown and her right, blue). She has two faintly star shaped scars on the left side of her chest and back marking where a primitive bullet once hit her, though that is not something that the rest of the team are likely to see!
    Image

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Tava is an experienced soldier (by Federation standards) and does know how to conduct herself under fire. She is also rather difficult to panic and tends to continue thinking calmly and logically long after most others have stopped.
Weaknesses: As well as needing a constant supply of cobalt supplements, Tava is somewhat naïve about how to behave around more 'restrained' cultures. She also has a reckless disregard for her own safety when experimenting with psychotropic substances.

Background:
Role on Ship: Federation liaison (Army Captain Rank equivalent)
    Faction Alignment: Federation
Personality: Tava is very much a product of berdikon society. She is generally amenable, works well with others, doesn't have a great deal of wants or demands and tends to be extremely relaxed. She is also fanatically loyal and will not hesitate to throw herself into harm's way for her crew. To species who aren't used to the Federation, and the berdikons in particular, however, Tava can come across as unprofessional particularly given her proclivity to experiment with hallucinogen substances.

Tava is curious about alien cultures, and since being stationed on Beachhead Station has also begun cataloguing a list of 'Significant Human Cultural Artefacts and Achievements for a Galactic Audience'. This list probably does not align at all with what any human would produce.

Backstory:Lost most berdikons, Tava Gebeth grew up in an expansive berdikon family home with sixteen sisters/half-sisters and two half-brothers. While she is on good terms with her parents, her closest family bond is with her 'Nanny-Sisters', the two oldest siblings in the household who took on the responsibility of raising the youngest hatchlings into adulthood. Being amongst the youngest, there was no need to Tava to take on a similar role herself and instead she admitted into the 'Greskian Planetary Officer's Academy'.

Being innately curious about other species, Tava was drawn into the military due to the opportunity to see the rest of the Galaxy and while most Federation troopers are unlikely to see active deployment in their period of service, Tava was unlucky enough to end up deployed on a peacekeeping operation and then, ten years ago, in a Federation counter-insurgency campaign on a recently Federalised planet (the creatively named Kevanyn 667-4). Kevanyn 667-4, while relatively small-scale and short-lived, was among the bloodier of recent Federation missions, with 1,134 dead and a further 5,898 seriously injured of the 54,000 strong force who deployed. After two years of fighting in dense forests and jungle the small Federation force was successful in restoring order, though with a casualty rate that was reflective of their inexperienced troops.

Tava came out of the war with a clutch of medals, with a bullet hole in her chest that required a vat-grown lung graft to heal and suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. The psychological damage took longer for her to get over than the physical injury and she was plagued by nightmares for years after. However, high-quality Federation psychotherapy along with a naturally resilient personality have allowed her to move past her experiences and, unless she decides to talk about it, these days it would be hard to imagine the ostensibly young berdikon is a decorated wartime veteran.

Tava had thought of herself as unlucky to end up on Kevanyn 667-4, though she reassessed her opinion when the wormhole to the Andromeda galaxy was discovered. The chance to explore a completely different galaxy has never come along before. The Federation wished to send a liaison on the Defiance and asked for applications. Tava's application stood out precisely because she was one of the few Federation soldiers who had, as the humans said 'seen the Elephant'. The hell-hole that was Kevanyn 667-4 was working in her favour for a change.

While Tava is aware there is a war going on on the other side of the wormhole and while she isn't keen on getting involved in it, she is also aware that her years as a 'Freemartin' are coming to an end; reproductive maturity will come with extra privileges and responsibilities within her tribe and her days of carefree living will draw to a close (as is only natural and proper). If she doesn't take this opportunity now, she may not get another like it. In any case, the Federation have assigned her to a neutral vessel; what are the odds that it will get seriously involved?

Finally, at Beachhead Station, she was unable to muster enough money for another ticket to continue cursory searches for tickets, and so she looks for work.

Character Description
    Name: Khuzme
    Species: Tz’ath
    Gender: Female
    Age: 23 Human Years
    Appearance:
I'll get around to drawing her properly later. But for now: Khuzme is a very slender Tz'ath. But don't think for a moment that she isn't strong! If you look closely, you could see that she's quite muscular which is not really unusual for her species. She stands at 3'7", just a bit shorter than Sho'chavuk.

Having long abandoned the standard-issue bodysuit, Khuzme now wears a predominantly white shirt with black reflective stripes, and short pants which cling to her body. Over all of that she wears a dark jacket made of light material. It stops just above her thighs and is secured to her form by a belt around her waist.

Khuzme keeps her dark hair in several braids, adorned with hair ornaments carried over from her tribe. Oh, and on her left chest is her Skyblade's patch, which she tore off her uniform.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Khuzme believes that she's most useful in a fighter craft, but outside of that she would tell you that she's great at moving quickly and shooting from afar. She'd make for a great scout and/or marksman. And because of her background, she could theoretically fix a space vessel and operate one if given the chance. Other than that, she's also skilled with most ranged weapons and is a capable dual-wielder of swords or daggers.

Weaknesses: She can be ruthless and a bit legalistic, and can be perceived as cold and heartless. She doesn't like Ragons all too much, but has gotten over her murderous hatred for them during her time in the NZ.

Background:
Role on Ship: Combatant, Marksman, Scout
    Faction Alignment: Defiance Crew
    Personality:
A trained warrior, Khuzme doesn't waste time and rarely ever emotionally invests herself unless she truly cares. When she does, she has trouble showing it and tends to become angry and embarrassed when confronted. At her core, she is very caring and compassionate. Her training just gets the best of her in most situations, making her always want to be on top of things. This sort of keeps her from showing too much emotion, even when things get rough.

    Backstory:
Born in the remote village of Marangis on Ter'nokah, Khuzme had grown up aspiring to be a pilot. She'd always watched propaganda videos played by the Marjashak in the communal area and imagined herself being in one of those fighters, conquering the stars and skies of alien worlds for the Tz'ath. She reached that goal in her early adulthood and quickly rose through the ranks, driven by passion and thirst for glory. It wasn't long then until the Marjashak hailed her as a war hero, even awarding her the position of squadron commander of the Xi'ku Skyblades, which consisted of the most elite pilots of the Aerospace Arm. She took this role seriously and won the Marjashak numerous battles during her service. All was going well for her, and it seemed that the Tz'aths were unstoppable. But then they met the Ragons. Khuzme fought long and hard, losing many wings over several large-scale engagements, and was ultimately defeated at the Battle of Stapas. It was there that the Ragon began to push the Tz'aths back, slowly choking them until they could fight no more.

Khuzme swore vengeance against the Ragon and managed to escape with the help of some other warriors. They immediately rallied to her, knowing who she was. They had expected her to lead them in a counterattack against the Ragon's flank. But she knew that was suicide, especially since their numbers had been whittled down and their equipment had been proven to be largely ineffective against the more advanced reptilians. She chose to escape into the Neutral Zone, feeling shamed at her defeat and the loss of nearly all her wings. This caused many of the Tz'aths to abandon her. She could only assume that they went off to their deaths, which most Tz'aths would argue was a more fitting end. But Khuzme felt justified in her decision. She wasn't going to fight knowing she would die. It was pointless and wouldn't contribute to saving Ter'nokah.

Khuzme and what few warriors of hers remained eventually ended up on the Afewag Station and settled there. She, Ny'shanuat, and Sho'chavuk became wards for displaced Tz'athi civvies there for a while, but fell into the trap of Ansemek and his Hurks. Sho left her and Ny'shanuat to do gods know what, but returned later, promising to save them from Ansemek. That didn't go so well- But what mattered was that many of them were still alive to carry on the legacy of those who died. Khuzme was determined to do just that. She remained as steadfast as she'd been with the Skyblades, still being seen as a hero by the surviving cubs.

After the events of Voyages, Khuzme served the Tz'athi diaspora on New Ethira as one of its three leaders. The other two were Sho'chavuk and Narkhi'zesh. They helped set up the settlement and stayed for a while, but their wanderlust got the best of them in the end. After Sho and Anja voiced their intentions to find and rejoin the Defiance crew, Khuzme joined them, judging that the diaspora had progressed excellently. She left New Ethira with the blessing of the Tz'aths who respected her decision and knew her place was among the stars. Ny'shanuat and Ny'luah replaced her and Narkhi'zesh who'd recovered from the trauma of Afewag.

Khuzme feels somewhat redeemed by helping the lost Tz'aths, but now she seeks a bit more. And seeing Sho'chavuk in a different light than before, she has grown more attached to him. The sudden development of such unfamiliar feelings has confused Khuzme greatly, and she is beginning to find it difficult to keep things strictly professional with him. How long she will be able to keep her facade up is anyone's guess.

Character Description
    Name: Narkhi’zesh
    Species: Tz’ath (Hurkish)
    Gender: Male
    Age: 29 Human Years
    Appearance:
Narkhi'zesh, being a Hurk, is big and bulky. He is more prominently muscular, with a strong neck, a ridged forehead, and an underbite with one canine larger than the other. He has a scar over his left eye, but is not blind. While Sho'chavuk stands at 3'8", he is taller at 4'2". He his fur is a bit darker blue in color, and is thin everywhere else except in certain places (you don't need a lot of fur where he's from).

Narkhi'zesh is not suited for stealth, because his entire body has been painted so that he looks like a fireball. He rocks a high mohawk, and his right ear is damaged. He usually doesn’t wear armour, instead preferring just ammo belts crossed across his chest and a simple pair of pants with several holsters.
While Sho stands at 3’8”, Narkhi’zesh is taller at 4’2”. He is more prominently muscular with a strong neck and jaw.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Narkhi'zesh excels at both ranged and close-quarters combat, preferring the latter much more. Thanks to his thicker hide (he has osteoderms on his shoulders and down his back), he is more resistant to blunt weaponry and can take a few more shots than most Tz'aths, especially when armored.

Secretly, he is a great singer and loves to do ballads. He can also play an instrument called the jan-jang which is the Tz'athi equivalent of a mandolin. It's named after the kind of sound it makes.

Weaknesses: Narkhi’zesh is slower than the other Tz’aths and is a larger target. He is also known for being insubordinate and overconfident in his abilities and resilience. Fortunately there are those who keep him in line and make sure he doesn’t end up dead. He can't resist a challenge and tends to push the boundaries, regardless of the consequences.

Background:
Role on Ship: Tank, Mobile Artillery
    Faction Alignment: Defiance Crew
Personality: Narkhi’zesh is not nearly as rambunctious as most Tz’aths, but that side of him usually comes out during combat. That's when he typically loses himself in his bloodlust, allowing all the hatred to come forth (He hates most non-Tz’aths, especially Ragons who killed his family). Strangely though, he has always been lucky, never really ending up dead. And though this is mostly because his friends pull him out at the last minute, it has caused him to become rather cocky and arrogant. Outside of battle, he doesn’t usually give his two cents and just goes with the flow. Not being accustomed to much outside of warmaking, he is pretty clueless where mundane things are concerned. That said, it is easy to get him to try new things. All you really have to do is say “I dare you to…” first.

Backstory: Narkhi’zesh was born way, way back, on Ter'nokah. Being a male Hurk, he became a warrior as soon as he was of age and has been fighting ever since. On the homeworld, his subspecies and Sho'chavuk's (Niliks) coexist in a strange manner, helping each other only for the collective benefit of both sides. Outside of that though, they can be rather hostile with one another. This became the case after Narkhi'zesh was separated from his battlegroup during one of the earlier battles in the NZ (Hurkish warbands were generally the spearheading forces). He grouped up with fellow Hurks, and upon finding Niliks who'd been driven from one of the offworld colonies, helped in subjugating them. He never killed or hurt them though, never being one to kill fellow Tz'aths no matter their affiliation.

The mentioned situation above is of course the one on the Afewag Station. For a while, Narkhi'zesh had been averse to Ansemek's methods, but he was never able to go against him, mostly due to the lack of support and the fear of Tu'kytush. He had been planning with Ny'shanuat and Khuzme for a while until Sho'chavuk returned. After that whole mess, he helped Khuzme restore order among the survivors and became the recognised leader of the Hurks on New Ethira. He did his job well, building an excellent relationship between his kin and the Niliks, but he wasn't ever planning to stay that way.

Narkhi'zesh never did like being a “leader”. He’d been a warrior for a long time, but leading had just never been his thing. So when he heard that Sho, Anja, and Khuzme were leaving New Ethira, he took his chance and approached them. It was a bit awkward, but they knew from the start that he wanted to join them and asked him to come along. Leaving his fellow Hurks, Narkhi’zesh hopes to find new purpose in life with his friends the Defiance crew.

Character Description
    Name: Uht’las
    Species: Tz’ath
    Gender: Male
    Age: 19 Human Years
    Appearance:
Uht'las is a small and lean Tz'ath with thin fur. He is completely blind and uses four mechanical implants to see. Due to this he's been given the nickname "Four-Eyes", which he finds pretty cool. He has a narrow snout and virtually no tail, and is about as tall as Khuzme at 3'7".

Uht'las wears a tight specialised suit that covers most of his body except for his arms, which are wrapped up in bandages. Over the suit he wears a cloak which is also specialised.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Sneaking is definitely Uht'las strong suit. His natural flair for hiding and sneaking around are greatly enhanced by his active camouflage suit which allows him to become virtually invisible. He can observe objectives from a distance through several different views and take photos with his mechanical eyes. He's also able to hack computers, (given the tools) tap into security systems and open doors, bring shields down, and so on.

Weaknesses: Uht’las can't fight, mainly due to physical limitations. He also can’t withstand much damage and requires maintenance. (After a while of moving a lot he needs to be respirated and fed and so on)

Background:
    Role on Ship: Scout, Hacker
    Faction Alignment: Defiance Crew
Personality: Uht’las is a highly intelligent and determined young Tz’ath. He is at his core, confident but cautious. He is somewhat satisfied with his abilities, but sometimes wishes that he was stronger so that he could fight. This makes him more passionate about what he does, always striving for the best while staying within mission parameters. He is very trusting and always has someone he looks up to, who are usually those who see his true worth and don't judge him due to his physical condition.

Backstory: Uht’las is a “Skoss”. Skoss are young Tz'ath that are born weak and sickly. They are cared for, but usually die a while after birth. Having been born on Afewag to a mother who was rather sick, he came out the same. But he survived that phase. That alone was a surprise, but it didn't stop the other Tz'aths from feeling mostly pity for him. Some wondered why he was still being cared for when he could suddenly die and it would be a waste of resources. Wanting to prove that he was still useful, Uht'las did whatever work he could and followed Ny'luah's advice to get stronger. Though he remained rather weak, and needed constant care, everyone eventually warmed up to him, seeing that though his body was weak, his spirit was of a true Tz'ath.

When Sho, Khuzme, and the other Skyblades arrived on Afewag, they started to become popular quickly. Uht'las looked up to them and often hung around them, which is how he became friends with them. When Sho first left, Uht'las almost managed to escape with him, but didn't quite catch up. That really upset him, but there was not much he could do but press on. After all, most of his family were on the station still. Jump to several years later when Uht'las has got himself an actual job as a courier and spy on Afewag, when the opportunity to escape during the Gollar occupation came, he was eager to help.

(He may have seen Dana Crichton shoot the bomb vests, but has not said anything about this yet, and this needs to be approved.)

After being dropped off on the green moon, Uht'las wasn't sure he'd ever see Sho'chavuk or Anja again. Things looked bleak from his perspective. But they did come back, and he was pretty excited about that. With some financial aid from the Gollar no less, the Tz'aths managed to build a new settlement called New Ethira, and Uht'las felt ready to stop doing sketchy work and even considered having a relationship (during this time he developed an interest in Narkhi'zesh). He wasn't sure he wanted to though, and by stalking Sho and co., he learned that they were planning to leave. He asked to come with them when they later announced this to the diaspora and is now on the Defiance crew.

Character Description
    Name: Pel’churul
    Species: Tz’ath
    Gender: Male
    Age: 27 Human Years
    Appearance:
Pel'churul is a small and rotund Tz'ath of the Kigu subspecies. He's three feet and five inches tall, has a short and stubby tail, and spines all over his body. His fur is of a considerably lighter shade of blue, and his skin is gray in color. His drooping ears are smaller than the other Tz'aths' and has tiny, almost vestigial eyes.

Pel sports a mask with lenses that help him see better. He wears an old and dirty Tz'athi suit with a hood, and a peculiar looking backpack over that. It's actually very important to him, being one of his best creations. It has a jetpack, a fuel cell, and a pair of mechanical arms built into it.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Gunsmithing and chemistry are Pel'churul's strong suits. He can do some general engineering work if needed.
Weaknesses: Small, slow, lethargic. He has a proclivity to violence and theft and is arguably worse than Sho in that regard. He also eats, smokes, and drinks quite a lot. Other than this, he can be quite stubborn and petty. He likes do things his way unless he is being threatened or actually respects the one challenging him. If you don't listen to him, he will probably be spiteful towards you unless you make amends. Giving him one of those stronger, illegal e-stims or a flask full of veth fruit ale is usually enough to do that. Ah, also.. He is not a trained fighter by nature, and has terrible eyesight. So without his special backpack and hood he's pretty much useless in a fight.

Background:
Role on Ship: ArsonPyrotechnic, Sapper, Weaponsmith
    Faction Alignment: Defiance Crew
Personality: Pel is a particularly strange individual of an already strange species. He is pretty smart and savvy around machinery, and seems a bit full of himself in that regard. He rambles a lot while working or not, likes to listen to music, and when he zones out his true nature tends to take over. He is extremely stubborn and petty as mentioned before, and doesn't like being confronted. However, if someone of authority calls him out or he's in danger, he is a lot easier to communicate with.

Backstory: Pel'churul started off on Ter'nokah. He wasn't a part of the war effort and was actually not at all interested in it. The only reason he got shipped off-world is because the Marjashak was fighting a losing war and they needed as many troops to a nearby colony as possible to help hold the line. Surprise. They couldn't. Their forces on said colony were shattered, and the survivors scrambled off into hiding. It's believed that during this time, Pel'churul went much more insane than he'd already been. He was later found by Sho'chavuk, creating silly robots and automating the corpses of other dead Tz'aths. Sho had been on the way back to the NZ after finding Ter'nokah blockaded and decided to give Pel a ride. Together they came upon Afewag and Sho's fellow Skyblades.

During his time in Afewag, Pel'churul may have gotten better mentally. Such things as alcohol and cigarettes may have helped with that, as they seem to help him relax. He began working for Ansemek who was fine at the start, but over time progressively became more of an arsehole. Pel didn't want to work for the guy anymore and wanted off the station, but was prevented from leaving. He was not aware when Sho left, and was quite annoyed to hear of it. He was also quite annoyed to hear that Sho'chavuk had returned, and with a cub. But he was excited to know that Ansemek was planning to take them all off the station. He was forced to create a large quantity of weaponry for the distraction against the Gollar as well as the bombs that were strapped to the hostages (He regrets his part in that).

After being mercifully spared from the wrath of the Gollar by the Defiance crew, Pel'churul decided to help build the settlement on New Ethira. He educated a number of fellow Tz'aths there for a while until he heard that Sho'chavuk was leaving. Feeling as though life on New Ethira was thankless work, he decided to tag along, believing that better opportunities to make coin and find more addictions and wenches were out there. (The Tz'aths on New Ethira were following an organised system compared to Ter'nokah which he found to be extremely boring)

    Age: 27 Human Years
    Appearance:
Pel'churul is similar to Sho'chavuk in build, but shorter at 3'5". He has a short, thick tail and his ears are droopy. He wears a gas-mask and pair of funny goggles (the right eye has a thing with different grades of lenses on it), a hood, and and old and dirty bodysuit. He never leaves his backpack behind, because it's very important to his character. It doubles as a jetpack, and is also his primary weapon (it has a fuel cell for flammenwerfer, and two mechanical arms are folded into the backpack, giving it a concave shape - the arms can be unarmed or they will have a medium-power plasma repeater/flammenwerfer and a mini rocket launcher).

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Being a black-market gunsmith, and messing around with volatile chemicals. Pel'churul is very good at both.
Weaknesses: Pel'churul is an arson and a klepto. He likes to steal and/or burn things depending on what they are and is arguably worse than Sho'chavuk in that regard. Ah, also.. He is not a trained fighter by nature. So without his special backpack he's almost useless in a fight.

Looks good to me Ky. Only thing I'll say is try not to overwork yourself with too many characters!

This looks really damn neat.

Would a fighter pilot be possible as a character? I'm asking because of the small size of the Defiance, and understand if the answer is no due to the absence of a hangar and no mention of docking ports.

Space fighters and strike craft have been established as valid in the setting so I don't know why not. Could also be useful to have someone that can effectively pilot shuttles/ground vehicles as well if you're down fornthe char multi-tasking. Am not part of the op team though, so take my word with a grain of salt.

Thank you, I understand. And thank you for your concern.

It is possible to be a fighter pilot. But as you said, there is no hangar or docking port. So I do not think there will be any fighters on the Defiance.

Some (two, to be precise) of my characters are fighter pilots. So if they had access to one at any point, they probably could fly it.

Standby as we forward your inquiry to the High Council for a more certain answer.

As the others have mentioned, a fighter pilot is an option for a character, but you are correct that the Defiance is too small for a fighter compliment. In theory, it could have one or two, but that would mean sacrificing the ship's shuttle which is easier to handle in atmosphere than the Defiance proper.

Nobody is likely to replace Thanica as the ship's pilot, and we have a lot of people who can already fly the shuttle. Not that it hurts to have more flyboys.

Honestly, might be worth looking at diversifying/specialising the fly boy gang? There's probably a ton of difference between flying a fighter vs a bomber vs a Corvette vs a capital ship etc. Though we'd have to be careful not to limit folks' opportunities to actually fly stuff - but that's been pretty limited anyway so might not be as big of a deal as I fear?

I think just having plenty of people who can inter change with piloting, repairing, and security roles is good, especially for missions.

Mercatus, a pilot of any sort is fine, though most of the action will happen on the ground.

For reference, since it had been discussed, Thanica is very definitely a Corvette pilot.

Character Description
    Name: Etux
    Species: Qaz'in
    Gender: Originally Male

Standing at just over 6 ½ feet tall, the machine is larger than most humanoids, helping sell the lie that they are merely a man in a suit, or heavily augmented depending on the questions asked, despite the minimal armor.

    Image
However, he would have the trademark antennae of his species.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Despite his scrambled memories, he remains an incredibly gifted engineer, having designed a large part of the body he drifts in, as well as doing general maintenance at the mining station he was created in.

The metal housing he calls a body is much stronger than his original, having been designed for military use, but lacks a lot of armor and systems that had been planned due to it having been in a prototyping phase. With the body, being a digital replica comes with a few advantages, namely being able to log all short term memories as recording and using it to perfectly recall events. However, there is no such thing as infinite storage, so anything transferred to long term or not saved separately becomes more akin to what a person experiences.

Like any former extremist, he can use a blaster, and is relatively decent at it.

Weaknesses: There is a noticeable lack of armor on his body, be it sections of the shell revealing the internal structure that he patched himself or minimal electromagnetic shielding. This in turn makes those areas more vulnerable to blaster fire, and he is generally at risk to sustain damage if exposed to any particularly strong electromagnetic fields.

He also isn’t very skilled at hand to hand combat, due to his lack of experience and passive nature, which forces him to rely largely on the strength of his body alone.

Background:
    Role on Ship: Engineer
    Faction Alignment: Independant
Personality: His scrambled memories and intuitive knowledge has left him with a lot of confusion, be it from the images he sees in reflections that shadow the man he once was, or finding himself knowing the complex equations needed to design a replacement part for a malfunctioning skrim drive. As a generally passive individual, he seeks little more than money and time to continue trying to understand what happened to him. His mind is fractured, and while his behavior is largely consistent, he finds himself making comments and taking actions that he struggles to remember or understand beyond recording. With the conflict between his mind and body, despite having no need for things like food, drink, clothes, or even a place to rest, he still finds himself requesting such things from employers and his stays at various stations. It helps him stay connected to himself, as well as avoid questions from those around him.

    Backstory:

Originally a talented researcher for the Mol'ack Yutt, Etux lived and worked on an asteroid station among a team of other extremists to develop a new means to combat the Command and secure territory for themselves. Since faith in their movement had begun to die out, members often deserting in favor of work across the galaxy, some of the more devoted believers took on a less than ethical project to bolster the numbers of their forces.

AI, a tool rarely used by the other races, was the team’s focus. While traditional systems were prone to error, and difficult to create and maintain, their approach was to create artificial soldiers based around neural copies of their existing forces. Beyond the elimination of hunger and thirst among their ranks, they would be granted a restless, unrelenting army that is only limited in numbers by the scale of production. Their greatest pilots could be copied and run thousands of drones, giving them a force in the skies unbound by death, and capable of problem solving to the level of a living being. Their greatest soldiers could march day and night, capable of taking shot after shot before crumbling, and their greatest minds could be put to work around the clock to strategize against the Command.

It was undoubtedly their greatest chance at establishing themselves among the galaxy’s powers despite the moral cost of stripping a being of their body for one of metal and wires.
From a young age, Etux was raised within the ranks of the Mol'ack Yutt, where his technological talents were fostered and was later stationed at this mining base to work alongside some of their best engineers and neuroscientists to create the hardware that would host these simulated minds. Motivated by an intense hatred for the Keil indoctrination had instilled in him, he devoted himself to his work tirelessly, and played a large role in the development of the body he wanders in now.

Due to the nature of their goals, however, their research was a significant threat to the Command. Extremists attempting to strap bombs to ships docked at stations was one thing, but attempting to create such an abomination of an army was another. Their work could only stay hidden from the eyes of Keil intelligence for so long, and on the verge of their greatest breakthrough, they took action to put down the resistance before they could go any further. A small convoy had been sent to dispose of them, and due to the limited systems provided to the base in order to better disguise it as a mining hub, they were practically helpless. Piece by piece, various sections began to seal themselves off in response to hull breaches and fire, and the station rumbled with each explosion as plasma tore effortlessly through each module. Etux, in an act of desperation, took advantage of the chaos and mapped himself with their unrefined systems, and sent the copy into one of their various testing chassis. He knew a person wouldn’t survive the fires or the cold embrace of deep space, but the machine he had spent the better part of his life designing stood a chance.

With the base compromised there was no chance the Mol'ack Yutt would attempt to recover anything from the site, fearing further action from the command. With vital systems destroyed, and everyone onboard having died in the ruthless attack, the only way for their work to make it back to the resistance would be in an unexpected survivor.

Sometime after this event, the body whirred to life, awakening a fragmented being adrift near the remnants of the station. Memories scrambled and nonsensical, this new being found itself surrounded by scrap, and immediately fell into panic. Still thinking it was a being of flesh and blood, it knew that open space would surely end its life, despite how little it felt in the cold environment. The metal hands that it thrashed around were far from recognizable as his own, causing further fear and confusion, and the shriveled and burned bodies that floated nearby bore faces that seemed so familiar didn’t help the situation. Eventually, the struggling subsided once he came to his senses, knowing it was powerless to the infinite expanse before it.

He hadn’t lost count of the time that had passed since he found himself in the foreign body, no matter how much he may have wanted to let it all fade into the background, but the number continued to march ahead in his mind. 2 months, and 13 days had passed, and he was left staring at the stars, unable to drift away and stuck to his thoughts. Memories played themselves for him thousands of times, and nothing he could make sense of. Images of people he didn’t know, tastes and smells, places he could only imagine was the structure he had drifted near for so long. There was also fire and screams, likely when the station fell, and a face staring back at him in the reflection of glass that he could have sworn was his own.
A salvage ship came by, seeking to scrap what was left of the abandoned place. War was a common practice in the galaxy, after all, and there would naturally be those seeking to profit off of it. What could only be seen as the mouth of the vessel opened as it made its passes, drawing valuable metals to it with magnetic fields that caused him nothing but agony as his senses started to falter.

Once they were satisfied with the haul, the massive doors closed and the area became pressurized. Voices sounded throughout the large room as people approached to rummage through what they had caught, soon to find Etux attempting to recover from the earlier interference.

In exchange for labor, using his ‘armor’ to do repairs on more hazardous sections of the vessel, he convinced the group to let him off at the next station. From there, he wandered the stars, picking up occasional work with various miners, mercenaries, pirates, and civilian vessels as an engineer.

Looks good to me. It's accepted (sorry, thought I'd already posted this).
