It is probably already extremely rare for them to use other sentients, let alone space-faring ones. Likely reserved as a form of “capital punishment” for other sentient, non-Thymyri species that live on one of their Hive Worlds as citizen-workers. I'll likely make this more explicit as well.

Much appreciated. I'm perfectly fine if they are strictly parasitic, and I'm fine with it being used as a form of capital punishment. The Federation may not like it (considering I seem them as the type to have abolished Capital Punishment), but I don't see that alone being justification for anything involving them. I could see the Andromedian powers latching on to that as a casus belli, but that's not a problem for them at present.

For a close relationship with the Federation, parasitism of sentients would be a no-no.

Welcome aboard! We're perfectly willing to answer any questions you may have here on the forum, but you can get more convenient and often real-feed back if you join the Community Discord that's linked in the OP.

If you don't mind me asking, do you have a preliminary idea already in mind?

You probably should have joined it sooner. It probably would have made this process a bit faster, but I don't have any other issues with the application. So welcome aboard, and do please join the discord. It's subsumed the OOC and may be the reason why this community has lasted as long as it has.

Character Description
    Name: Cazryn of Arabana
    Species: Erloi
    Gender: Female
    Age: 29
Appearance: Cazryn is slightly above average height for an Erloi, standing at 6'0. When on a mission, her normal uniform is her Chameleon Suit, which is very specialized in keeping with her race's utilitarian outlook. It consists of an armored bodysuit and hooded cloak that is carefully wired to her skin, allowing it to match her color and texture changes to blend in. Her two batons are stored in her belt until needed.

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Skills:
    • Caz, like most Erloi, is a gifted tracker and huntress. Her enhanced senses and natural stealth allow her to stalk her prey silently before they know she's upon them.
    • Cazryn's primary weapons include a large sniper rifle that she can use to eliminate targets from extreme distance and a PDW for closer engagements.
    • For emergencies, she has a pair of energy daggers in her gauntlets which she wields with lethal proficiency.
    Weaknesses:
    • She can be viewed as Hedonistic by others
    • She's keenly aware that her ears are large even for her species, and is secretly very sensitive about the subject.
    • Erloi can only consume meat, either raw or cooked. Eating other things can have a variety of reactions from illness to death.

Background:
    Role on Ship: Scout/Ranger, Marksman/Assassin
Faction Alignment: Contracted agent of the Gollar Confederacy

Personality: Very confident in her abilities, to the point where some might consider it arrogance if she didn't consistently deliver results. On missions, Caz is extremely focused on her prey bordering on obsession owing to the spiritual experience a hunt is to her people. She prefers to get in and out without deviating from the plan, worrying about additional factors after a kill. When not on a hunt, she is far more relaxed. Erloi physiology disagrees with most forms of intoxicants, though doesn't stop Cazryn from partaking in them from time to time, especially after a successful hunt where celebration is required by tradition. When drunk, she might be prone to "window-shop" various members of other races, especially the women.

Backstory: Cazryn was born into the Arabana tribe, one of the many Erloi tribes that wander across Undarvis. Like all Erloi post-Gollar, they trained from a young age with energy weapons in addition to traditional Erloi designs. She particularly took to a hidden dagger, a weapon that had historically only been used by Guardians as a means to defend the camp rather than as weapons on a hunt, but Gollar modification of plasma blade gave new life into a weapon that being slowly forgotten by its creators.

The Arabana tribe was amongst the first tribes contacted by the Gollar, and members were frequently hired out to perform scouting missions or even the occasional wetwork. Once Cazryn had grown to become a full fledged Huntress, she would take various contracts until eventually she would have her chance to be tasked with a specific mission, though the scale of this job was far broader than Erloi are normally used for; she was to be subcontracted to the Defiance to act in whatever capacity they needed for the length of her time on the ship.

Formally accepted.

Character Description
    Name: Zedong Yuan Xue
    Species: Human
    Gender: Male
    Age: 42 (Born in 1985)
    Appearance:
    Image

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Dr. Xue is highly perceptive of those around him and is world renowned for his contributions to the fields of quantum physics and astrophysics. He is a master at developing realistic solutions to theoretical issues.
Weaknesses: Entomophobia, Dr. Xue is deathly afraid of any and all insects. Oddly, he has no problem with arachnids.

Background:
Role on Ship: Physicist, PRC Representative
Faction Alignment: Dr. Xue’s allegiance is to Earth and the People’s Republic of China. He makes no secret of his allegiance, however, his personal balance between supranationalism and nationalism is anyone’s guess.
Personality: Dr. Xue can be charming to friends and intimidating to rivals. At age 18 he had spent more time with books than people. He has a conscious habit of readjusting his spectacles before engaging in a lecture or debate.
Backstory: Born in 1985, some would argue that Dr. Xue was destined for greatness. Pursuing a career in physics he graduated from Tsinghua University in 2005 with a Ph.D. in Engineering Physics. Recruited by the CNSA (China National Space Administration) in 2006, Dr. Xue slowly and steadily built his reputation. Two decades later he was part of the Destiny mission’s ground team. Unknown to his colleagues, Dr. Xue had theorized the existence of a quantum singularity between the red planet and humanity’s homeworld, due to the trajectory of earthbound meteoroids from the asteroid field. When the mission course had been plotted straight through his theoretical phenomenon due to the lack of asteroid activity along the path, he was silent. When communications stopped abruptly everyone assumed the worst. Dr. Xue knew the truth but couldn’t say anything. If his theory was disproved he would be excommunicated from the scientific community. If it was revealed that he had known about the singularity and kept quiet, the families of the crewmembers would call for his arrest or worse. When the news of the crew’s return had arrived he knew that the greatest scientific discovery of the 21st century had been realized and he couldn’t take credit for it.

Um, I posted my character and species on the old RP. Would I be able to use that character here if I put the bio and species app here?

It should be, just edit your species if you want since the Milky Way Galaxy is an option, and edit the Character since some requirements for joining the crew has changed. And if you wouldn't mind, could you join the discord as it will help us work you a plan to add your character and work out any issues that may or may not exist.

Backstory:(How did you come to be here?) She was on a different ship, but it had been attacked by her species enemies, and she was the only survivor.
The reason this doesn't have any special fonts or anything is because I copied and pasted the old bio and made the needed edits to it.

Species Description
Name: Kanara
Singular: (what do you call one of your species on their own) Kanara
Plural: (what do you call a whole lot of your species) Kanari
Adjective: Kanarian
Appearance: (If you are using a picture, please include a bit of info on how much variation in appearances there is among the species)
They look like cats that walk on their hind legs, and they have different 'subspecies' depending on where they live.
Arctic Kanari have thick, long fur that is typically, white, silver, or pale gray-blue. Their tails are long and fluffy so they can wrap it around themselves. Their paws are big and their claws are sharp so they can navigate snow and ice easily.
Forest Kanari have short fur that is normally brown, black, or red, and they have better night vision than other Kanari. They have bobtails so that they won't get caught in brambles easily.
Tropical Kanari have short, glossy fur that is tan, orange, or dusty pink. Their tails have scales and a fin, like a fish.
Biology: (what is special about your species that you can't tell by looking at them? Night vision? Super-strength?)
Arctic Kanari are very protective of their territory and each other, and they can withstand temperatures below zero for an hour and a half
Forest Kanari have better night vision than other Kanari, and they are naturally stealthier.
Tropical Kanari love to wear and make jewlry, and they are trained at a young age to swim. They can hold their breath for 30 minutes as a child, and anything from 45 minutes to 2 hours as an adult. They can also dive deep into the ocean to fish.

Background:
Homeworld: Janre (Pronounced JAHN-ray)
Galaxy: Andromeda
History: They once lived in separate packs depending on where they lived, and some still do, but they now have a city called Lendru where each of the three subspecies can live together. Many young Kanari who live in the old packs hope to live in the city, and choose to move there when they become adults. They are enemies with a species called Hounfroy, which I'll make a species app for soon, probably. Also, It's okay with me if other people want to make other Kanari.
This doesn't have any special fonts for the same reason my character bio doesn't.

Refer to my comments in Prefeton's OOC. The concepts themselves aren't inherently flawed, it's more a lack of detail. We do have the lore here is more comprehensive than Prefeton, but the most important elements are in the OP as they should be. Yeah, after I read your comments, I realized how ... underdetailed? this is. I'll start adding to this to make it more detailed, and hopefully it'll be done in a few days. Thank you for offering to help.

Well, unfortunately, it is now my business. You are technically breaking NS and probably Discord's Terms of Services as you need to be 13. Additionally, Andromeda has plans to cover themes that are a bit dark at points, both in Prefeton and here in Burning. So the storyline may not be for you, and our discord most certainly isn't. It's not necessarily 18+, but it's not the best place for a 12-year-old. I do wish you luck on the site and do feel free to reach out to me if you require assistance, but this may not be the best place for you to start.

Wait, I didn't know NS was 13+! Is that some sort of new rule, since I played this since I was 10 or maybe younger? Also, I don't know for sure, but I bet I can take most of what's likely to happen on here. I read Watership Down when I was 11, I've read the Warriors and Wings of Fire Series, and Throne of Glass, all of which are violent and not neccesarily child-safe.

Biology: The Ke’oi evolved on a relatively earth-like world, but due to a greater axial tilt and further distance from their star, most of the world is covered in thick glaciers, warming toward the southern hemisphere.

They are generally Kieloid, like a number of other species in the galaxy, but possess a number of distinct physiological differences with their similarities. Having more cat-like eyes, they can see in wavelengths equal to that of a human, but possess a greater range of pupil dilation and tapetum lucidum to benefit them in the environment of their homeworld. Their hearing, too, is extremely sharp, allowing them to pick up on anything between 40-80,000 hz.

Their teeth tend to be sharper, aiding the beastial species in digging into flesh, and they possess retractable claws to aid them in grappling, and ultimately tearing apart, their prey. Beyond this, they are quick learners, due to the unforgiving climate of their world, which benefited them during Command uplifting.

Background:
    Homeworld: Iupra
    Galaxy: Andromeda
Alignment: Subservient to the Command, with independent stragglers.
History: Following the usual steps of civilization would have proved almost impossible in their world, as agriculture wouldn’t be able to produce a large enough or sustainable food supply without at least modern technology. So, for a hundred thousand years they survived as nomads, following the food to the various hotspots or finding themselves in the relatively small warm region. That is, until they encountered the god-like Kiellar Command.

While their world may be cold and unwelcoming, it possessed valuable gasses in its thick layers of ice for blaster ammunition, and colonization wouldn’t be any more difficult than establishing a base in an arctic region.

Upon the discovery of the primitive species, and the potential they showed with their adaptability, an effort was made to uplift them in order to both secure the world’s resources and an inexpensive form of labor. The Ke’oi quickly accepted the teaching of the god-like species, practically worshipping them as they became shaped into a mining colony.

After a rough 500 years of integration, a lucky few among the species have gained command citizenship, while a number of them have become commonplace among Command society as home servants or pleasure slaves. Due to their niche talents, some are under government control, with the remainder of the species still existing on their homeworld as a mining planet.

Defectors exist across the galaxy, living and working on either stations or planets that would take them in, choosing to live simple lives. Unlike their uplifted brothers and sisters, these few see the Command for what they really are

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Growing up poor on a crumbling station has a number of disadvantages, but there are some things you pick up, like how not to get caught stealing some nutrient bars, or sleighting valuables from a shop. Eventually, with the help of their natural physiology, they became pretty good at getting into places they shouldn’t be. And with how they developed in particular, seducing both men and women to get their way grew into an artform.

Weaknesses: Due to their build, they’re not particularly strong, nor are they a very good aim with a blaster. Combat has never been their kinda thing, even with the claws and teeth, so their movements are rather straightforward. When it comes to complicated tasks or skilled labor, they generally lack in both experience and knowledge, so they can't suddenly become a tactician, engineer, or doctor.

Background:
Role on Ship: Rather Niche, but they’ve got talent when it comes to getting into places, and getting out in one piece with some new toys in tow. As a Stowaway, they don’t have a hard role, but won’t refuse to do their part if they can’t get out of it.

Faction Alignment: Independent, youth making poor choices

Personality: Sotah is rather sly, enjoying poking fun at people or toying with them in lighthearted ways, and looks to make the most out of any situation. Growing up, they learned that just because things are tough doesn’t mean you can’t have a sense of humor, and that is greatly reflected there. Rather poor with credits, when food isn’t an issue, since he has a tendency to be more impulsive.

Backstory: Born on a quieter station outside of Command territory, Sotah was the oldest of a number of siblings. His father, a second generation defector, would largely do ship maintenance on the old cargo and scrapping vessels that came through. At the start, things weren’t too bad, and it was a simple life where he had big dreams and plenty of love. But, like all things, happiness is fleeting.

Credits became tight, driving his father to pick up an asteroid mining gig to keep everyone safe, where tragedy struck. Working aboard a known problem vessel, Sotah’s father met an unfortunate end when a reactor leak exposed the crew to lethal levels of radiation. Discovered weeks after their radios went silent, the bodies were spaced rather than returned in their states.

This left Sotah as the oldest among four, with his mother already working almost around the clock, so it fell to him to do what he could for his family. So, he began sneaking extra food when at the market, or stealing from the moderately wealthier crews passing through the station. He wasn’t good to start, but it was enough to help them get by.

As he grew older, his skills quickly improved, and some of his siblings became old enough to pick up the smaller odd job around the station. No longer needing his support, his family turned to supporting him with his dream to see the stars, and it wasn’t long before he snuck his way onto one of the outbound ships.
Miss me with your bs

Accepted, feel free to brainstorm how to bring this guy in on the Discord. I would suggest once they get back to the ship after the current mission.
