Basically, I simply want to RP as a party leader that is not full on commie or ultranationalist. I am OK with RPing from right wing to moderate socialism, and I am OK with leading minor party too with very low percentage. I just want to be party leader and not be commie or nazi. Not asking much. :p

Oh btw, Oñez can still recover, the first 10 districts are by no means the end, although the momentum can play in to later primaries

Not really with Kalinsky pulling the plug and wanting to force me out.

I just can't help and wonder why there is no demand for any centrist party. Is every Cargotan Ron Paul or Bernie Sanders? Isn't there a percentage for Lib Dems or Ciudadanos type? At least a 4-5%?

Even in this case, I am sure there is a 4-5% that would vote for such a party.

Apologies for long rant BTW. :)

Having to come up with boring legislation isn't really fun for me. In RPs I enjoy the most coming up with policy ideas and manifestos. It is the reason why enjoyed the Eblanca RP (where I was party leader of minor party) and the British RP (where I am Brexit Party leader) but couldn't enjoy the American RP and eventually stopped posting (got bored of having to be confined to Republican rules/policies).

I wouldn't like to be confined to supporting policy ideas of other players and simply trying to pass some legislation. Not do I really enjoy the backroom deals aspect of such RPs.

I have way more fun coming up with policy ideas than winning elections or being VP. Hence why I would prefer being party leader and having the independence to shape party policy even if I have only 1 MP over being VP and having to implement the policy ideas of someone else.

Apologies for long rant BTW. :)

Minister of Finance will give you all the authority to put your tax policies in.

The National Government of El Cargotá

Name: Juan Carlos Sánchez

Image

Position in government: Assemblyman and Vice-President
Political Party: PDP
Race: Hispanic
Religion: Catholic
Gender: Male
Age: 51
General Political Ideology:

He belongs to the center-left faction of the PDP. His policy agenda includes expansionary monetary policies, protectionism and tariffs, breaking up of monopolies, increased corporate and income taxation for big corporation and high earners but tax cuts for the working class, carbon tax and decarbonization by 2030, instituting a UBI, investing in healthcare and education and a large program of public investments, especially in infrastructure (through the creation of a Public Investments Bank).

Character intentions: Become President eventually

Biography:

Juan Carlos Sánchez was born to an upper class, wealthy family. As a student, he had good academic grades and he went on to study Mathematics at University of Bartago, where he graduated with an upper second-class honours degree. Juan decided to continue his studies abroad, attending Stanford University, where he earned a Ford Dorsey Master's in International Policy. For the next two years, he attended Harvard Business School where he earned an MBA (Master Business Administration). At Harvard it was when he became first involved with progressive politics, joining a left-wing student organization and taking part in anti-globalization and anti-capitalist protests.

Upon returning to El Cargota, he became a member of the PDP. Initially, he worked as a financial advisor in drafting elements of the PDP manifesto and gained a reputation of a policy-wonk. He eventually managed to be elected to the Assembly and proved to be a capable public debater. He was one of the early advocates of forming a government coalition with the Socialists. After the 2012 elections, he was appointed Minister of Health and managed to increase the budget for his department and after the 2016 elections he was appointed Vice-President.

With long parliamentary experience, his tenure as Minister of Health and Vice-President and the overwhelming support of the moderate wing of the PDP, he is the second most powerful man in the party and considered the one most likely to succeed Tafalla. Juan has been promoting his personal image, sometimes at the expense of his President, for some time and has founded the 'Institute of Social Democracy' as a lobby organization to support his efforts to eventually succeed Tafalla. He is also notorious for using his influence within the party to slander and attack politicians he deems threatening to his career.

While he has no intention of challenging his boss, he wants to ensure that once he is gone, he will be the leader of the PDP.

Question if my character is accepted:

Since there is no other Socialist candidate, can the party committee/leaders suspend the primaries and give the nomination to Juan? Also, if this happens and then someone else joins as a Socialist, I assume that primaries will not reopen, right? :D :D :D *evil laughter*

If anyone announces a presidential run, primaries will happen, if only one person is formally running though, and no one joins until the convention, then he’ll be nominated

I assume the VP can introduce legislation, right?

I am thinking of introducing a bill to increase pensions for low-earners by 5%. 'Elderly Support Bill' or something like that.
