Collab between Turkducken, Ran, and Atria

Seven Days After the Attack…

Higu was angry. Angry because he was weak. Angry because he was useless. Angry because all of his training and power amounted to nothing after these freaks from space showed up. But most of all he was angry at The Vision.

“Putting *my* name in the same breath as touting conspiracy theories?!” his thoughts boiling inside of himself. “I swear I’m going to get on tv and give them a piece of my mind!” his ruminating was cut short by his earpiece. “Captain we’ve reached the LZ, beginning our descent.” he took a second to shake his head back into reality. The deafening volume of the hovercraft and the crammed space within crystalizing his senses.

His company was being sent to protect South Capital. Disturbances had been reported in the area, and that could only mean increased Angel activity. The garrison on Earth was stretched thin. Any Earthly forces couldn’t hope to compete with the raw celestial power of the entities, and that left the whole planet essentially defenceless.

“Alright punks,” he said, standing from his wall chair, “we’re going to be fighting more of these light bastards today.” the dropship itself gave a worried grimace back to him, “We’re protecting South Capital. That’s the goal, no civilian casualties. In fact, we’re to keep the fighting as far away from the city as possible. So that means not even one of these things gets through.” the small sea of faces stared dejectedly back at him. “Now I don’t want any complaints on this mission. It sucks. We all know it sucks. So don’t bitch about it. Am I clear?” a despondent murmur of agreement echoed back to him, “And that goes for my other two ships as well!” he barked into his ear piece. Two meek, “Yes Captain.” broke the static back to him.

Higu could only sigh, “Good enough I guess.” he knew his men were exhausted. They’d been running all over the planet responding to these attacks. They were seemingly outnumbered by the invaders and definitely outgunned. Clever maneuvering and joint attacks only carried so far against horrifyingly twisted beings from another realm. For the first time he had an opponent that dwarfed him completely in power. “All of that training and pain. Just to be washed away as easy as sand on a beach.” He knew he should be excited at the possibility of greater strength, but these were cosmic beings that stepped on him like an ant. He solemnly closed his eyes, “It’s not even close.”

The three dropships finally initiated their landing sequence. The cancelling Gs to the front caused Higu’s stomach to lurch, and a hard knot settled in his abdomen. He tapped the ear piece again, “Alright Kuwabara Company, move out!” The dropships, in one fell motion, landed and deployed Higu’s forces. They dispersed to form a perimeter as their Captain got his bearings and issued orders.

“Alright so we’re about a mile out from the South Capital.” Higu silently observed as he glanced through the Scouting Scope towards the high rises of the city. “We don’t have an exact location these things will be appearing in, but we do know that it’ll be about here.” Just as he was about to start issuing commands to his men, a loud “Vroom!” burst over the hills coming towards them.

A news van, with big blue letters EBC, had shot over the hill past the perimeter his exhausted men just set up. It came to a screeching halt just a few feet from his position. A pretty blond woman jumped out of the driver’s side, holding a microphone in one hand. While a dark shaggy haired man wearing a baseball cap, and holding a camera, jumped from the passenger’s. She quickly rushed to Higu with a, “Earth Action News at 6. Captain Urameshi are we really safe from the angelic menace? Is Earth really prepared to join the Galactic Community? Does Shinra Electric and Power Company have you on their payroll?”

Higu was exasperated. This was the same reporter that had been hounding him for months. She had repeatedly asked for interviews and repeatedly been turned down. “Look Miss, I’ve already answered ‘No Comment’ several times. I’m not interested in being interviewed.” His previously suppressed feelings of bitterness and resentment to the hosts of ‘The Vision’, bubbled up inside, as he was forced to remember how they dirtied his name. The Reporter, undeterred, simply bombarded him with more questions. “What about your meteoric rise to fame as a hero to Earth? You were fast tracked through the PTO’s own military organization, is it fair to say you were given special treatment?” The flash of the cameraman’s lights informed him that he was, in fact, live.

Higu did his best to remain outwardly unannoyed, but he felt the lines forming on his face that would suggest otherwise. “Look lady. This is a classified military operation. We’re doing our best to keep all citizens safe from these freaks. I’m gonna need you and your crew to beat it.” The last part coming out more aggressive than he meant to. The Reporter, again, was unphased. “So you don’t have any comments on any Earth events occurring right now?”

Higu’s patience was now gone, pointing into the camera he began to vent his frustrations. “No. You know what? I’m tired of my men being exhausted. I’m tired of us busting our asses and getting no help. We’re out here in outdated armor, with outdated weapons, with outdated support! The PTO has failed to respond to our situation!” his outburst surprised himself, let alone the members of the news crew and his men, for that matter. “And I’ll tell you another thing! The hosts of ‘The Vision’ can kiss my ass, with their dragging my name through their lips while entertaining idiotic conspiracy theorists! Just shut up already! No one likes your show!” he felt himself growing red hot in the face with this outburst, but he couldn’t help himself, “And Another Thing!”

Just then the air changed and became heavier. The hair on the back of his neck stood up in a chilling manner, and he whipped around to look into the distance. Portals had opened. Grotesque winged abominations clawed their way through. He felt fear wash over the company under his command. He turned back to the camera crew, “Go and take cover!” he shouted, shoving them back towards the hill they came from. “Kuwabara Company!” he called out to his men, “Take your positions and fight the enemy! Not a single one through!” Higu charged to the emerging front, followed closely behind by his brave screaming forces.

___

Arashi’s scouter actually picked up the spike in Higu’s power level before he was notified of the attack. A chirp in his ear, and he knew of an abnormality. Then, of course, came the flood of information, more signals that it was picking up, most hovering around the ten million range.

He was fortunate that he didn’t tire, ever. Otherwise his training that day would have left him far too exhausted to respond to the call. As it was, he leapt into the air above the quarry, now blackened in some spots from his ki blasts, and shot off towards the fray. It wasn’t long before he was witness to what looked like a last stand, with angels appearing and soldiers who were woefully unprepared to face them standing firm.

Well, he surveyed the battlefield, Perhaps firm isn’t the best choice of words.

His aura flared to life, azure fire whipping a veritable storm around his body as he charged in, singling out one of the angels that was bearing down on a large group of soldiers. He thought he could catch it off guard, but no such luck. The angel identified the incoming threat and met his charge, although at least it distracted it from the humans it had been ready to prey on.

“Dammit! What the hell were you thinking!?” Arashi slipped away from a blow in midair, using his superior speed to get an angle for a punch to the chin of his opponent. That dazed him, and he followed with a kick to the ribs to send the angel crashing into the dirt. He paused his attack just long enough to lock onto Higu. He vaguely recognized the fighter, but it helped that the scouter pointed out his high power level.

“Look kid, I appreciate the intent,” the angel began to stand, and Arashi could feel the gazes of its comrades drifting over to him, “But there’s a reason that weight classes were established, and you may as well have brought everyone here to their execution.” For his part, Arashi had tried to keep the PTO soldiers out of the way whenever possible. It probably wasn’t sustainable in the long run, but he justified it by ordering them to evacuate and protect civilians.

In a flash of movement that was probably too fast for any human present to see, Arashi fended off an attack from one angel before another joined in. He managed to hold his own for a moment, picking at them one by one so that he could isolate them, somewhat, with his speed, but eventually he took a heavy shot to the ribs and hit the ground, now clearly on the defensive. Regardless, he managed to get a word in edgewise.

“Look! Just stay back, and get everyone you can out of here! You’ll only get in the way!”

And I don’t have any room for error now.

Ovan’s ship entered the Sol system and dropped out of FTL. “Come on you stupid hunk of junk, we don’t have time, it’s been a whole week, don’t stop-” He was about to continue his rant when he spotted that they were inside his home solar system and the ETA displayed on his screen was merely a few minutes. “Okay. I take back some of what I said.”

As he approached Earth, he could sense the power levels of people defending the planet, and the many more dots of power that were attacking it. Most if not all of them seemed to be noticeably lower than him, but that only furthered his drive to get there and help. He sought out the two nearest power levels and dropped into orbit with his ship until it was safe for him to leave the ship without suffocating.

The instant it was safe, he shot out of the ship’s entrance, already in a Battle Trance, flying down, spotting one of the many winged monsters that was attacking and smashed into it with his feet, blasting it down to Earth in a small crater, watching as it cracked and… exploded? Dissolved? Something like that, into light. “So they’re not really organic? Weird...” He muttered before flying down to the highest powers he could sense. One looked to be a human martial artist, the other was… “Arashi? What’re you doing here? Also, what the hell is going on, you get twenty words for each.”

Before responding, Arashi took advantage of the remaining angel’s momentary lapse in attention, a piercing beam of ki burning straight through its throat. As it dissolved into whatever particles it was made of, he looked to Ovan. He was still trying to process the human’s arrival himself, and it took a moment before he was able to fully put together a response.

“Twenty words. Right then.” He nodded his head towards the other angels in the area, “I’m fighting those things, to limited success, obviously.” The Tohran’s ribs had been bruised when Ovan arrived, but the black mark was receding even as he spoke, “And those are angels. Or something. Nymphae said they’re magical in nature, they’ve been hounding us for about a week now.” He paused once again, counting words in his head, and cursed when he realized he’d exceeded his limit for the second topic.

“Alright, look, I tried. Long story short,” he pointed at the celestial creatures all around them, “Hit them really hard.”

“Good man. That I can do.” He nodded, but noticed another white haired man who was giving it his all against another winged monster. Charging at full speed, he slammed both of his feet into the creature assaulting the other martial artist. Despite his relatively low power level, he was at least putting up a fight. More than he could say for most.

“You alright there, buddy?” He asked. “Name’s Ovan. Ex-PTO. Here to help.”

Higu’s struggle against the angels had continued past the initial charge. His men being able to subdue and destroy several of the beings before starting to feel overwhelmed. Luckily one of those massive wells of power that he had met before showed up. The imposing General Arashi had arrived, whether or not to back him up or not he couldn’t tell, but he could tell by the tone of voice he used that he wasn’t happy about Higu’s defensive strategy and lectured him about ‘weight classes’. He almost said something sharp and sarcastic in retort, but barely as the man told him to evacuate did he begin his own struggle against an angelic being.

He had barely had time to get his bearings in the confusion of the battle, when his left arm shot through with red hot pain, so severe it brought him to a knee. Higu’s skull pounded from the pain and his jaw clenched so involuntarily hard that he thought his teeth would shatter. Weakly he reached up to his ear to signal a retreat. “All soldiers under my command prepare to-” but was cut off by a lone entity that rushed towards his kneeling form.

His body was uncooperative, barely registering movements to stand and try to block the blow. His left arm hung limply as he stiffed his body, trying to summon the strength to use his protective Tekkai. “It’s no use.” he thought to himself, “Not strong enough…” and he prepared to be blown away by the monstrous power, before a flying divekick caught the beast’s body from the side, sending it flying away with monstrous power and a ‘Whompf” of air. Another man, one who Higu hadn’t seen or heard of in years, stood in front of him. His orange hair stood up almost perfectly, his power surged briefly past Higu’s senses, and he offered an arm of assistance and a few words to pull Higu from the ground.

“Ovan? Ovan Fawkes?” Higu sputtered out, “Ex-PTO? Here? Why now?” his mind swirled with questions and disorientation. He took the other martial artist’s hand and lifted himself back to standing, his left arm dully throbbing at his side. “Captain Higashi Urameshi, world champion and Captain of Kuwabara Company.” he grabbed his left arm just above the elbow, and squeezed it. It was warm to his touch. He spoke as he again reached for his ear piece, “Thanks for the assist, I was just about to signal the retreat.” he lamely explained to his superior rescuer. “All troops under my command,” he bitterly began, “fall back to the secondary position.”

The hair on his neck stood up. Time began to dilate. Higu felt a strong sense of dread in the air as he blinked slowly. “Something’s happening.” echoed in his head. Hardly perceptible in the corner of his vision, he moved his head slightly. The angel that had been on the receiving end of the devastating flying kick from Ovan was gathering light and energy in one of its’ horrifying mouths. It looked right at him, through him even. He could sense malevolence unbound. “It’s going to fire at us. That beam will travel right through me and into the sky.” was his only thought.

He panicked, a million ideas flew through his head, none of them he could do in enough time to avoid this blast. Higu’s life and family flashed before his eyes. The light of the angel’s attack glistened in his eyes. He thought about his chance meeting of Ovan and the other Captain. About how they’ll survive this blow and life would continue without him. “Will there be anything left to bury?” he blinked again, the darkness comforting him. He watched the beam be fired, his mind swirled and a single thought coagulated. “I want to live.”

His left arm burst with that same red hot pain. His eyes bulged, and he screamed a horrible bloodcurdling scream. His left arm shot up involuntarily, palm facing the incoming heat and light. In an eruption of light and sound two explosions rung out over the battlefield. Higu’s men yelled out in agony and terror as they watched their commanding officer burst from the impact of the angel’s attack. Clouds of dust and smoke obscured the vision of the soldiers and others around. Coughs from several of Higu’s men continued as the dust dissipated.

For whatever reason, be it some kind of animalistic fear, or their unknowable reasons of attacking this world. The Angels were seen quickly scrambling back into the portals from whence they came. Vision began to return for the soldiers as a thick cloud of...something, hung over the presumed crater where their Captain had been. It hung thickly as it failed to clear in the same way as the previous dust. A particularly collected and courageous soldier walked towards the cloud and reached out towards it. Yelping in pain as his hand was scorched by the cloud. “It’s steam!” she called out, creating more confusion among the men and women present.

A breeze kicked up, coming over the hilly terrain, and finally pushed the thick cloud away. It revealed a massive skull. It's’ one eye flickering rapidly from corner to corner. Half finished muscles pulled its jaw open in an unnatural way. As more of the steam began to clear it revealed more unfinished bone and muscle. A severed spinal column sitting firmly on the grass and dirt. It’s one finished, and blasted, left arm was lifted rigidly in the direction of where the angel’s blast came from. A horrified chill washed over the viewers, as whatever this was had appeared from seemingly nowhere. Some looked away with fear, others lost their lunch at the sudden shock.

Kuwabara Company began to surround the mutilated corpse. Horrified at its physical and sudden appearance. In the unfinished nape of the neck, Higashi’s eyes opened. He was laying in hot tissue. Scarcely able to see much but the red flesh around him. He pulled away from his impromptu bed in disgust. Wispy strings of flesh following him. Mortified he pulled away harder, only to realize they ran all the way to his eyes and head, attached quite firmly to his skin. He ripped at them desperately, wincing at the slight pain, trying to escape from this suffocating prison. The last few strings broke and fell off, causing Higu to fall backwards.

He landed in the hard dirt underneath. Trying desperately to understand where he was and where he had been. He blinked a few times trying to clear the fog in them. Looking up he saw an unfinished pocket of gore, where a few stray strands he had pulled from his face waved in the breeze. He could barely comprehend what was happening or what had happened. The massive remains around him could hardly be processed. Higu screamed a horrified scream again. Unable to do anything else.

Near the PTO-Makyan Border, North-West Quadrant

Glacia's massive flagship, alongside dozens of small craft, neared the border with the Makyan Hegemony. It had been a long time since an Arcosian leader had been this far west, nearly five decades in fact, during the last war between the two powers of the Milky Way. Glacia herself hadn't even been born yet, but she heard stories from her father, especially in the waning days of the conflict when both sides committed unspeakable atrocities. The Makyans, when it was obvious they were on the verge of defeat, massacred entire worlds along the border in a scorched-planet policy.

The fleet was still very much on the PTO side of the border when they were met by a detachment of Hegemony ships, in clear violation of the Treaty of Torha.

In the central control room of the ship, Glacia, seated in one of her hover pods, turned to Ghiaccio.

"Has the Hegemony replied to any of our transmissions?" Her kinsmen shook his head in negation.

"I am afraid not, ma'am. Nothing but silence." Glacia let out a purring sigh.

"Well, I suppose it is time I go out to meet them, then. Send out one final warnining," she instructed. After a few more minutes of continued radio silence, the top hatch of Glacia's ship opened, and th Empress herself floated upwards into the vacuum of space. Glacia looked out at the multitude of Makyan ships staring at her, and she wondered for a minute what their final thoughts would be

"Their families, I hope," she said evenly as she raised a single finger. A small sphere of energy formed at the tip of her finger that rapidly grew in size. Satisfied, Glacia daintily flicked it towards the centre of the amassed enemy fleet and watched as the glorious explosion wiped the Hegemony ships away.

"Nothing like a little fireworks to begin a war," the Empress mused.

Before Ovan could continue and get back into the fight, the man who introduced himself as Higu was struck by an energy blast that he somehow missed. Despite having a considerable portion of his flesh incinerated, Higu was still alive. In fact, he seemed to... mutate? Grow? Something that Ovan didn't know how to describe. His size increased massively, so much so that he jumped away as he became a large skeleton torso and head. Even his normally implacable demeanor cracked a bit. "Higu... Look, there's a lot going on right now. I'm going to need a moment or so to process that." There was still an invasion going on though it seemed to be tapering off.

Though he wanted to make sure that if the angels were planning on trying again, they knew that they would have to deal with him. Another one of the wheel-shaped ones fired a bright ray of light at him. One of the few remaining monsters that had been assaulting the planet. Ovan stuck out both of his hands, the energy being so bright that it made him close his eyes and rely on his other senses. Though he'd deflected so much worse by now that collecting the energy and throwing it back at the angel, it exploding in the same light it shot at him. At this point there were only a handful left and dealing with them would be trivial. He shot into the sky ready to swat the last of them and confront Higu about everything. He'd take a look to see him still there and sighed before smiling a bit.

He was going to have his work cut out for him for the next while.

A few hours later...

With the angels dealt with, as far as he knew, he gathered the handful of earth warriors that were doing their best. "Alright. I'm not big on the whole hope and dreams schpiel, but I do respect your desires and drive to protect our home. And because I was late, you have my deepest and sincerest apologies." He admitted, head down.

"BUT. I am here now, and I'm here to stay. More importantly, I want to take those willing under my tutelage and show you how to harness your real strength. I won't make you. Your life, your choice. If you feel the need to test my strength, I'm more than happy to prove it. Any questions?"

Collab Between Saint, Naval, and Brit

Yunzabit Heights

With one Wyvern crushed under the weight of her construct mallet Serena focused her attention elsewhere, namely to the boss itself. The construct in hand dissipated and she flew forward and towards it at great speed only pausing when, out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed Spicer zip forward beam in hand.

What is he doing She wondered, alarmed enough to stop mid-flight. She immediately regretted that decision as Spicer was engulfed in one swoop of the dragon’s mouth.

“No!” Serena yelled and rushed forward only to find her path blocked by some of the remaining smaller Wyvern.

“Darn it,” Serena huffed and blasted backwards. Her hands clenched as though she was gripping something and quickly two magically constructed swords appeared in either hand. She would launch them at the approaching Wyvern, the moment the sword left her grasp, she conjured a new one and would proceed to throw that.

She managed to strike down one of the approaching beasts, but the other was quick enough to evade her and it unleashed a close ranged roar, that forced the Queen to dissipate any sword in hand to clutch at her ears. By that time she realised that she had left herself completely defenceless, she felt the reptilian tail swat at her in a downward fashion.

Both hands reached down and she landed on her palms, instantly performing several somersaults as the beast whipped her way and charged consecutive focus fire blasts. While midair Serena would conjure up a shield of pure magic just in time to be met head on by the only charged fire blast.

Upon impact her shield shattered and the princess was knocked back and threw several mountain peaks. Finally being embedded into what would’ve been the sixth one she had flown through in the matter of seconds. Her head lobbed down for a brief moment, and blonde hair covered her eyes.

“Tsk,” she mouthed as she moved her hair out of her face. Her eyes turned red as she raised her gaze at the dragon. It was time for round two.

Meanwhile, the largest wyvern began to set off from the mountain and towards the two mages, but within a few minutes the beast stopped mid flight. Suddenly, part of its stomach exploded outwards, revealing Spicer, still very much alive--albeit dripped in the dragon’s bodily fluids--and looking worse for wear. The wyvern clutched at its open wound as Spicer languidly flew off and landed on a peak of the mountain as the dragon fell to its demise.

From behind the stony pillar, Nymph watched the dragon’s stomach burst open and fall.

“Huh? I guess it must have eaten from that taco place my sis tried out and left her in the bathroom for hours after visiting that place?” The witch would cast an illusion charm to make herself invisible as she flew forward.

Serena had just teleported back into the fray when the biggest beast of them all descended down into deep caverns below. The other smaller beasts immediately retreated and soon all that was left to do was for Serena to check up on the Saiyan.

She flew to him quickly stopping just a few feet from touching him once she noticed the fluids coating his form. “You’re ok…” She breathed a sigh of relief before flicking her wrist. Suddenly the slime and residue that coated the Saiyan dispersed, leaving him completely dry and feeling fresh.

“B-barely,” he muttered with a slight smile as he laid down in the snow. “Thank you, Serena,” he said tenderly, his heart racing faster and faster.

The Queen looked at the Saiyan for a few more seconds before she moved in closer, her red eyes fading to blue, and a soft smile on her face as she neared Spicer’s mouth.

Then, she punched him, real hard, in the shoulder.

“You scared the heck out of me,” She said as she pulled back, smiling but but brow furrowed. Spicer let out a slight laugh as he rubbed his bruised shoulder, his back lying in the snow.

“S-sorry, but that was the best way to kill it,” he said, rather weakly, but with a smile of his own as Serena gave a sigh of relief.

Saiyans… always so reckless… Speaking of Saiyans...

“Where’s Nymph?” Serena glanced around, not spotting the mage anywhere.

Nymphaea, still very much invisible, watched Serena and Spicer together, the Queen’s face close to the Saiyan’s.

“By the gods! They are finally going to kiss!” the witch muttered through her fingers as she covered her mouth so the two won’t hear her as she thought she was going to see not only the two finally admit their feelings but see her sister win the bet.

But just as she was getting excited on seeing the two kiss, she instead saw Serena punching Spicer for apparently acting like… himself.

“Does that count as a sign of affection for Saiyans?” the mage wondered out loud.

The gears in her mind began to turn, and Nymph grinned n as an idea came to her. The witch soon got close to the two. The witch used her magic to push Serena from behind, and watched as the queen fell on top of Spicer on the snow-capped mountain.

“Looks like you two had fun. While I was off taking a break to heal you took out the boss without me. You two are terrible.” the witch complained, still invisible to them.

Serena was the first one to pull herself up, a hand reached up and trucked several strands of hair out of her face as she glared up at Nymph. “Next time we’ll be sure to send you a text before we do.”

She threw her hands up and despite the flash of annoyance she can’t help but give a breathy laugh of her own, only stopping when she realised that she was still on top of Spicer.

“Oh sorry,” She said earnestly.

Getting up thereafter she extends a hand down to him. Spicer blinked a few times but graciously took the queen’s hand as she helped him up, and he briefly flashed a knowing look at Nymph that showed a hint of his Saiyan rage, that quickly dissipated.

As the trio made their way down the mountain and closer to the hidden city of the mages, they were met by a truly bizarre sight. A man, dressed in formal court attire and utterly out of place up in the heights, stood before them on the road. He looked like he was in incredible pain, the Saiyan warrior noted, and even without his scouter, Spicer could tell that this stranger was bad news. Something about him seemed familiar to Spicer, like something half-remembered from a dream.

Nymphaea stopped flying when she saw the strange man that was in their way. The mage’s pupils dilated with fear when she saw who it was. “Oberon.” she said with a hushed whisper. Why was he here? Who would summon a being like him to this world? The mage would look at the Fae with wide eyes.

“Oberon?” Spicer turned to Nymphaea, who looked at the Fae with complete fear. Spicer’s gaze returned to the strange figure and he narrowed his eyes.

“Is he responsible for the angel attacks?” Spicer asked.

Nymphaea shook her head. “No. Oberon isn’t responsible for that. He’s from the Feywilds. His authority means nothing to the angels.”

“Then what is he doing here?”

“I don’t know,” Nymph told him as she turned her attention back towards the Fae. “Why are you here Oberon? Your people haven’t caused too much trouble. Why are you here with the angels?”

Oberon raised a hand to his face and swore in reaction to the skull racking pain that consumed him then. He was a Fae of great power, but not here on Earth, not when the spell that summoned him and kept him bound was not completed with the ritualistic contracts that were known to occur between mortals and cosmic beings such as himself. He needed to get back so that he could feel the surge of magic fill every vein in his body again, to prevent the gradually greying of his flesh and the loss of his feyish glow. That damn angel, how dare he do this to him.

Peering through the cracks that his distanced finger left he scanned the three that stood before him and honed in specifically on the blonde. Puck had told him of the creature who, with one move, knocked him out. To think a mortal of any kind could possess such power whenever the strongest amongst them were only ants under the boots of Yggdrasillians such as himself was laughable. Puck had simply been so enraptured by the human that he had simply left his guard down. But standing there and sensing the wealth of magic within her, like a bottomless well that would consume him for eternity, he was stupid to have doubted him.

There was no wonder she had become the target of Paradiso. The Catalyst that would bring about Ragnarok to the Nine Realms. The key to the seeds of destruction for magic within this reality. He wouldn’t let that happen, he would kill her here and now. Leaving that bastard Angel with no way to carry forth his plans.

“Ragnarok”

His arms folded in front of his face before he threw them to his sides unleashing a gust of wind which knocked at the trio like a category 5 hurricane. The ground beneath his feet cracked and a miniature creature formed beneath him, he sunk low so that his joints bent, and like a sprinter doing a 100-metre run he dashed forward. Faster than either Spicer or Nymph could react, his hand reached out for Serena’s throat but instead met her instinctively thrown up arms. Still, the movement he pushed against her meant that he was able to power forward against her will, not stopping until he had the Queen slammed against the wall of the mountainside. A flash of discomfort appeared on Serena’s face- she was straining hard against his ever-increasing pressure- and when she locked eyes with him she could see the burning fire of death.

Amidst the blowing winds, as Spicer struggled against the power of the Fae, Spicer saw as the powerful magic user attacked the queen. Spicer called out to her, but he could do little to prevent it or to protect her.

Damn, the Saiyan cursed. I’m completely useless against these things… The force of the wind was enough to send Spicer reeling back against the side of the mountain, creating a small avalanche and rockslide that buried him.

Nymphaea conjured her staff and she would spin around quickly, channelling her magic into the staff as the runes etched to it began to glow brightly. The powerful wind that was blowing her away was suddenly moving around her as she began to move the wind current around her. The witch felt the wind starting to loosen its hold on her. As the witch tried to control the wind she would see a mountain getting closer to her. She continued to spin around until she could feel her cape’s magic was the only source making her fly. She spun her staff while “lying” on her back before she swung it towards the mountain, unleashing the gust of wind at the mountain.

The force of air would send the witch flying forward as the rocks on the mountain were either blown off the rock face or were pushed into the mountain, cracks forming around them. Using the great boost in speed she charged towards Oberon as he was trying to strangle the queen. Nymphaea would channel more of her magic and create a blade of pure magical energy that unleashed sparks of electricity. She would aim her spear at the head of the fey.

Oberon’s head turned just in time to see Nymph launch towards him, blade in hand, his eyes flash and his free hand-coated by magical energy reached out- and grabbed hold of the blade. The electricity from it surged through it and connected with his flesh but he powered through the pain, pushing back against the witch but in turn loosening his grip enough on Serena’s arms to have the young Queen free herself. Serena would use the distraction to lift both legs up and kick at Oberon’s torso, his already weakened grasp completely removed from her neck, allowing her the chance to manoeuvre around him, kicking him in the back this time.

He stumbled forward, but not before using that added momentum from Serena to force Nymph away from him, sending her skidding across the ground until she was dangerously close to the edge of the mountain. Oberon cracked his neck and turned, both fists raised up and ready for a brawl. “Come now your Highness. It’s time that you and I have our first dance.”

Serena watched him carefully, noting that her kick only served to unbalance him for a moment, and even then he had used the momentum to push Nymph away even further. Channelling magic in her hands she constructed the same mallet she had used against the Wyvern.

“Let’s dance then,” She moved and swung her mallet at him, and with the grace of a ballerina the Fae dodged her, allowing the mallet to smack into the mountain, upon impact cracks rippled like deep ravines up the mountain’s surface, but the Queen paid little mind to it, instead she leapt in the air and brought the mallet down.

Oberon reached out with a single hand and caught it. The shockwave from the force was so intense that the cliffside behind him shattered and descended down the great canyons between mountains. Serena gritted her teeth and tried to apply more pressure but Oberon only responded with slight resistance and that resistance was somehow enough to keep her from making any headway.

With his other hand, he gripped onto Serena’s leg and threw her away from him, the mallet dissipating in the air when his eyes flashed again. He gave chase after her but stopped abruptly, the entire form seizing up as every muscle in his body stiffened like flesh exposed to frigid seawater. He clutched his chest, feeling his heart rate skyrocket.

An opportunity for someone to jump in and strike at him, one that Nymphaeae gladly took advantage of as she would unleash a powerful bolt of electricity at the fairy from a spot close to the edge of the mountain. The witch would stomp on the ground and slide her feet back, creating a platform from the cliffside. Something for her to land on should the fairy send her flying off the cliffside. The witch would jump in the air and have her fists pointed down. Once she stomps she would slam her fists on the ground, causing a large boulder to form. She would punch the rock with her fists, launching it straight towards Oberon.

Oberon slowly collected himself, so he was not quick enough to avoid the bolt of electricity that surged his way, hitting him and doing much more damage than he should’ve given his status. In truth he could feel the bonds keeping him tethered to this world slowly snapping away, which meant he was closer to getting home, but also meant his power would begin to wane until the bonds were completely gone.

Electricity sparked all around him and felt a sort of paralysis come over him. Watching the boulder rock towards him, all it took was another blink of the eyes and it would shatter into a million pieces before it even got halfway to him.

This Enchantress was more powerful than he anticipated, a simple backhand would kill most mortals, but this wild haired woman was putting up a fight that was almost comparable to the Queen. How a mortal could even reach these heights was a question for another day however. When the paralysis wore off he pointed two fingers from separate hands at Nymph, gun-like in stature, and created focused beams of energy which rocketed towards her at greater than light speed. He would’ve done it again, if not for a magical constructed rope latching onto his forearm, a single jerk made him stumble back and turn his head to view Serena.

Oberon grunted, and without even looking back to Nymph he shot at her again with his free hand, then grabbed Serena’s rope and tugged with enough force to lurch the Queen to him. The rough motion sent her right into his open palm and he clenched his hand around her throat instinctively.

“This is where we part ways love,”

Oberon began to squeeze, so intent was he on the Queen that he did not notice that Spicer had appeared a few metres behind him, not until the saiyan began to yell out to him. “Not if I can help it,” Spicer growled, unleashing an energy attack at Oberon’s back.

Again Oberon’s gaze was forced away from Serena, and his grip loosened enough for Serena to break free, this time she would use telekinesis to pry the fae’s fingers from her neck.

Rubbing the slightly bruised flesh she hopped back. Her other hand raised to the heavens as solar energy began to accumulate in the palms of her hands. Oberon frowned and prepared to stop the beam with one hand, that is until Serena flanked him with Solar energy in the back, causing him to stumble right into Spicer’s energy beam.

He yelled out, more in frustration than in pain, struggling to not be consumed by either beam of energy, and as much as Serena would like to say they were trumping him, his struggle was gradually becoming more fruitful by the second. The Queen applied more pressure, hoping to at least keep him pinned between two beams long enough for Nymph to come up with some way to hurt him or more importantly banish him.

“Don’t let up,” Serena telepathically told Spicer as she poured even more solar energy into her assault.

“You can’t keep this up forever!” Oberon screamed, magic rising despite the fact that he was fading back to his own world slowly. He would not let Ragnorak come into fruition. The lives of the Fey rested upon his shoulders in this very moment.

Spicer put more energy into his beam attack, using up his remaining power as he heeded Serena’s words. A renewed spirit came to the already battered Saiyan as he leaned forward with his attack.

Have to... hold on...for her…

Nymphaea would summon a large mandala to block both attacks from the fyy, each strike causing large cracks to appear on her magical shield. As the Fey began to take his attention away from her and to Serena the Saiyaness would see this as an opportunity to banish him. “I will have to thank mom for teaching me this spell when I finally see her.:” The witch muttered as she would bring her pointer and middle finger up and begin to trace a symbol in front of her.

“Geister des Nordlichen Winds.” She chanted as a blue symbol appeared in the air briefly before vanishing. She would turn to her right and begin to trace another symbol in the air. “Geister des Sudlichen Winds.” she would chant as a red symbol appeared as quickly as it faded.

As she did the same with the southern and easter points of the magic circle she would chant “Geister der Ost- und Westwindes.” Both yellow and green circles would appear in their respected places before they vanished like the others.

When Nymphaea faced the powerful noble fey she would use the fingers from both her hands to trace on the air.

“Fluss zusammen um mich und geworden der Wind daruber hinaus.” the witch shouted as a large white magic circle appeared in the air before fading away.

“Funf kreis verschlussel” she would chant as she would create a large and complex looking circle appearing under Oberon. Many strange symbols are in the circle with small circles connected to the larger one, those smaller circles being the very same circles she summoned early with the center one being of the same color as the one she manifested seconds ago.

She would have her right finger pointed up in the air. "Freigabe." the witch pointed her fingers down and a beam of light would come down from the heavens and strike down Oberon

Caught between the three attacks, Oberon, already slowly fading, was at last untethered to the mortal realm and faded entirely from view as the trio banished him entirely.

Planet AZ-051B

One and a half years after Fuar's defeat

Ikki's spaceship did not need to venture for long before it picked up an alarming signal leading him straight towards his target - that being a distress signal calling for the help of any Star Sheriffs currently in the same sector as the mysterious warlord clique on Planet Celeste. It came from AZ-051B - a recent colony world, its first outpost established a mere two years ago, and thus still lacking an official name other than its star chart label. The small settlement, composed of little more than several dome shaped reinforced houses scattered across a dark grey plain, was already being bombarded from above, its meager sentry systems trying to ward the ships away while the local inhabitants hid inside and retreated into a network of tunnels below, hiding everything that's valuable from the pirates.

The Saiyan's spaceship landed several miles away and he hopped out as soon as the spaceship informed him that the air outside was breathable - and then he rushed across the flatland at supersonic speed, plains and hills moving past him faster than the average eye could even track. As he came closer, the full extent of the invasion became clear to see.

Something was... odd about it, though.

Several starships flew above, all with heavy armament, powerful enough to flatten a fortress if given free reign. Dozens of soldiers were descending down from dropships, each one of them hiding their identities by covering themselves in thick, long cloaks and hoods, as if they were phantoms.

None of this was necessary to take on a tiny outpost in the middle of nowhere far in the Frontier. A single ship with a few goons would be enough - but no, whoever was in charge sent a fleet powerful enough to threaten a small planet-state.

Ikki lunged straight into the town and drop-kicked into one of the soldiers before they even registered what was happening. He felt the impact and the body crashed straight into the ground with little resistance, but there was no grunt or anything. Hell, even the fall felt rather mechanical, like a ragdoll rather than a person...

The Saiyan landed on his feet, immediately looking around him, seeing several other pirates begin to encroach him and train their rifles upon him. With the little information he had, Ikki's mind began to form a hypothesis.

This warlord appeared out of nowhere and seized an important fortress as their own, they attack with so much force that they immediately get everyone's eye, and all the Star Sheriffs who go out here to go after them... just vanish, their power signatures disappear, we don't even hear about their deaths...

Is whoever in charge of this clique... actively trying to hunt Sheriffs?

Ikki's body flashed out of position, leaving a series of afterimages across the air, while he struck from one pirate to another, taking them down with a single strike each. A chop to the neck or a strike to the gut would be enough to keep them down - the Saiyan wanted to guess unconscious, but with how... not very alive these things seemed to be, he couldn't even be sure. An another one got grabbed by the cloak and tossed into several others, their blaster fire blowing through their peer as if it were coffee paper - in response, Ikki waved across the air and summoned a burst of ki, blowing across the battlefield like a crashing wave and blasting the grunts away.

The Saiyan took an easier breath, his eyes tracking the battlefield.

Then, suddenly, his elbow struck behind him on instinct.

The ground behind Ikki had cracked, unleashing a monster crawling from below - only for it to get blown back by the elbow, roll across the village and finally slam into the wall of one of the settler domes. As soon as he turned around, the Saiyan witnessed a mutant creature stand before him - with a lizard-like tail, clawed arms and legs, a spear in its hands, and, embedded in its chest...

"That's a Dragon Ball..." Ikki muttered to himself, immediately moving to a battle stance. "Hey! Who are you?"

The creature said nothing at first, merely tapped the ground with its spear - all of the "pirates" whom Ikki had been fighting dropped to the ground, or, rather, their cloaks did, as if whatever were wearing them vanished into thin air.

"Uh...huh?" he muttered under his breath out of the confusion, looking around - seeing Ikki's bluster got the creature to crack a grin and finally speak, in a confident, slightly raspy voice:

"I hope you're not too frightened by the setup, Sheriff. They say that meat is less tender if the animal's afraid when it is slain."

Setup? the thought immediately rushed into Ikki's mind. Already, from the creature's brief speech, he was starting to figure out what the mystery behind this warlord and his clique were... but it still left a million questions unanswered.

"Who. Are you?" Ikki repeated his question, raising his voice this time, and yet receiving no answer yet again, Instead, the creature replied:

"How about you give me reason to reveal something so private?"

Without any further warning, it lunged forward, spinning the spear in its hands and then descending it down straight at Ikki. The Saiyan blitzed out of the way, but only barely - and when he sent a punch to retaliate, it slammed into the creature's raised upper arm, leaving the two fighters in a physical clash.

This guy...

Ikki ducked down to avoid a tail swipe and lunged forward with a hook strike, only for it to get caught by the creature's free hand - it struggled, but managed to keep the Saiyan at bay.

Airceltria, Yunzabit Heights

Nymphaea once more was leading the charge as she flew to where the city was. She looked up to the sky and saw that the darkness that covered the rest of the heights did not fade away nor did the cold slowly replace it with temperate heat. But the chill she felt was not from the normal temperature surrounding them. No, the chill she felt was coming down from her soul.

A part of her wanted to believe that Serena’s portent of doom was exaggerated on some levels, that whatever was happening was not as severe as she predicted. It was a delusional thought looking back but it was one she wanted to believe so strongly because the truth was just too horrific to even ponder on.

The cloudy sky began to cast an orange glow as the smell of fire and smoke began to fill the air. The scent would make Nymphaea feel a terrible pit form on her stomach as she unleashes a burst of magic to increase her speed towards the city.

Ignoring the air stinging at her skin and eyes she had to see for herself what was happening to her homeland and to her people. It didn’t take long for her to feel the numerous energies that belonged to the angelic invaders. Serena and Spicer would begin to see Nymphaea suddenly slowing down as she was now seeing the sacred city.

Fire. Fire was everywhere. The buildings made of mostly wood with clay and stone mixed in was perfect fuel for the firestorm that was consuming everything. They would see angels of every form not only crowd the streets but climb around the buildings that still stand and mountain sides, but also flew around the city. They saw a massive air battle between enchanted airships and massive rings with eyes and white flying whales and other flying angels.

But among the battle the one feeling that was hitting Nymphaea the most, one that made her grab on to herself and begin to weep was of the mages. She can feel each mage’s power fading as they were slaned by the angels. Nymphaea landed a safe distance away from the chaos, paying no mind to both Serena and Spicer landing behind her as the overwhelming feelings of fear, pain, and loss gripped her heart and mind, forcing the young witch to her knees.

The Saiyan general looked over the ruined city, unsure what to think. He has heard both Nymph and Serena described the hidden city of the Order of Ancient Mysteries, but Spicer never imagined in his life he would be setting eyes on it in person--let alone setting his eyes on the burning city, as angels and other creatures from the Nine Realms ran rampant.

So Serena’s Voice was correct, but are we sure this isn’t a trap? A feeling of dread rushed over the Saiyan. Spicer clenched his fists as he heard Nymphaea’s sobs and thought about her mother and sister, somewhere in there fighting for their lives. He put a hand on his scouter and scanned the area of the temple. It soon detected an absurdly high power level.

Most likely the leader. If I can stop it, the others should disappear, and if I can do that, I can keep her safe…

“Lottus, go and find your family,” Spicer sternly said before he turned over to the Queen. “I’m going to look for survivors.” He wanted to say more only to stop for a moment.

“Stay in one piece,” he told Serena, barely in a whisper, before he blasted off towards the powerful signature.

The Saiyaness would let out a few sniffles but she would rub her eyes with her forearms. The witch knew that despite the tragedy happening before her she still hasn’t lost everything, she can still save her family and the others. The mage closed her eyes and tried to sense for her sister and mother’s auras.

It only took a minute until she felt a strong power close by. “No. You have to be kidding me,” the shocked mage uttered as she can feel the power source using it’s magic. “Why is there another powerful fey in here?” Nymph and Serena would hear a loud explosion coming from somewhere in the city as they see massive trees growing from one of the city blocks.

WIth Spicer having blasted off, Serena found herself alone with Nymph and more than prepared to dash off with her to find Nymph’s family, but she too sensed the immense power, distinctly faeish in nature, and before her eyes trees began to sprout down a city block coming closer and closer towards them.

“Nymph, I think we should-” Move is what the Queen would’ve said before a mass of vines whipped out at them. Clutching around Nymph’s arms, torsos and legs, before violently tugging her forward. From the ground sprouted a massive venus-flytrap style organism which rose several hundred metres, until it opened it’s jaws to reveal a young but dazzling beautiful woman, clothed only in leaves, vines and other natural material. Flicking her wrist, Nymph was reeled forward but not before Serena managed to bear hug her, slamming her feet against the ground to create two miniature fractures that helped to keep her rooted in place.

“I got you!” Serena grunted, using considerable might to keep herself and Nymph from being dragged forward.

Nymphaea looked at the woman before the two. “Oh Kami. That’s Titania!” the witch screamed as she conjured her blades and tried to cut the vines with it but couldn’t reach due to the vines having a strong grip on her. “Serena, we have to free me quickly. That fairy is the sister of Queen Mab. We can’t fight her.” she warned as she decided to let go of her blades and make them float in the air. The floating swords would cut the vines to release the witch, or they would seem too, but the moment they connected and breached and inched into the vines, the blades would become brittle before shattering to the ground.

Serena tried to heat up the vines with magic, but found that her palms would not ignite. Shifting gears she instead tried to tug at the vines, but with each tug, Nymph would feel the vines constrict tighter around her. To make matters worse, Serena had slowly begun to move forward, being dragged through the ground and closer to Titania. “I hate fairies.” She mumbled under her breath quickly. “Nymph… what do we do!” She yelled, this time using her full might to force them both to stop. As a result a giant crater formed beneath Serena’s feet, large enough to cause a 20 metre divot.

Meanwhile Alex’s magical signature completely faded from the city grounds and Elizabeth’s grew frighteningly minute.

Nymphaea felt the change in the two magical signatures as the two were being pulled closer. “Let me go! Find what happened to my mother and sister! I’ll distract Titania” Nymphaea would produce a minor electrical current to make the queen let her go. “Fly, you fool!”

Serena wanted to protest, but the mixture of the electric shock from Nymph and her own personal concerns for the other two Ashwoods meant that she was letting go at Nymph’s command. With no force keeping her back Nymph was drugged forward and up towards Titania.

Sucking in a breath and reminding herself that Nymph could take care of herself, Serena rushed off, even if it pained her to do so. She began with a sprint before she took to the air, locked on to Elizabeth’s magic signature, and flew towards it.

Collab between Naval and Brit

Airceltria, Yunzabit Heights

Spicer looked over the ruined city, but to his horror found few survivors of the mages. He checked his scouter again--the majority of life forms seem concentrated in one temple, the same one with the highest power level.

“Of course it has to be that one,” Spicer muttered before he stopped. Another power level suddenly appeared, right where he left Serena and Nymph. The Saiyan looked back and hesitated, a moment of indecision.

“They might need my help,” he breathed out, but even as he did, his scouter told him that mages were dying. Spicer bit his lip. “But the mages…”

Serena can handle herself, can’t she? She’s more powerful than anyone on Earth, but… Spicer wasn’t entirely convinced of his own thoughts, but the Saiyan knew he had to make a choice. Every moment he wasted…

With a roar, Spicer flared his aura and headed over towards the temple, all the while hoping and praying he was making the right choice.

The holy temple of Paradiso shines a heavenly light that pierced through the smoke. It’s light promising warmth and comfort to those who walk towards its hollow grounds. A promise that was now feeling more fictitious. Because despite the benevolent aura surrounding the structure was the burnt and mutilated bodies of dead mages, from infants to the elderly. Their blood and charred skin, liquified into a chunky oily-like substance, was splattered all over the white casted homes before fire consumed them, some buildings falling on top of younger and inexperienced mages who could not defend themselves with their magic, as such trapping them under the debris as the flames slowly creep towards them to cook them alive.

Charred bodies laid on the streets with others lying against the wall or skewered upon spikes, arrow bolts the size of spears, and actual spears. Others were sliced into pieces as their limbs laid strewn about the block. Some mages suffered a much worse fate.

As Spicer entered the city district he saw some mages bound on stakes, their bodies burning in azure flames, as some screamed in agony. The smell of burnt flesh and blood was heavy in the air as well as wet roses and incense. The temple would have its stained windows blown wide open as angels came pouring out from the structure, numerous others surrounded the structure.
Spicer heard a child screaming. Looking down he saw a little girl carrying a baby on her back running from a pair of birdmen. The avians are in pursuit as they aim their spears at the child as the baby cries in fear and the girl screams.

“This isn’t like the other attacks,” Spicer mouthed out as he witnessed the carnage before him. The Saiyan landed in front of the temple and fired a series of energy blasts at the killer angels, intercepting their attacks. The angels narrowed their “eyes” at the Saiyan but took off in search of new targets as Spicer watched as the little girl and baby found a new hiding spot. He gave a sigh before he headed into the temple complex itself.

As Spicer flew towards the temple he would have a barrage of plasma bolts and beams fly from the ground towards him as the angels tried to shoot the Saiyan down. “Eliminate the Xeno!” he heard one of the angels shout in a robotic fashion, followed by other angels saying. “Roger. Roger.”

Spicer found more birdmen flying behind him one was armed with a crossbow, another an arquebus, another carrying an arm cannon, and one wielding a trumpet. The angel with the arquebus took aim and fired along with the crossbow angel. The trumpet fired a concussive blast at Spicer while the cannoneer fired a flaming cannonball at Spicer.

In front of his path, he saw flying heads blocking his way. The angels opened their faces to reveal a mass of pulsating flesh with numerous eyes scattered throughout the writhing organic mass. He then saw gun barrels within them and each one began to open fire in a rotary fashion with more plasma bolts at him.

“You have to be kidding me,” Spicer groaned as the angels fired on him. The Saiyan general put out his hands and formed an energy shield to block the attacks before he fired off a series of energy attacks in retaliation against the mystical creatures.

The energy blasts d hit the angels; the flying heads shattering to pieces once the energy blasts hit them and the blasts sending the birdmen flying. Spicer saw more angels appear before him. The angels projected an energy barrier to stop his path as they formed energy swords and sent them towards Spicer. The Saiyan stopped mid-flight as he dodged from the energy constructs.

“I don’t have time for this,” Spicer muttered. Every second he wasted fighting these angels was another second wasted trying to rescue the trapped mages. As the energy swords whirled past him, Spicer looked up at the ceiling and fired a few blasts to collapse the structure and take the angels out that way.

When the blasts hit the ceiling the debris would rain down on top of them but Spicer would find the debris trapped by energy fields. The angels would send the debris flying towards him as well as more swords as some created an aura of energy that would sprout out more blades, this time the angels flying towards the Saiyan to stab him personally.

Spicer punched the incoming debris but wasn’t fast enough to dodge from the incoming angels as they stabbed him with their energy blades. As the angels stabbed into him he felt an intense burning as his blood would begin to boil from the heat, his flesh sizzling from the blade. The lead angel in charge of the others would begin to produce more blades and have them orbit around him as it was charging them with it’s magic, making them grow in length.

While Spicer roared in pain, his blood literally boiling, the Saiyan felt his bloodlust only increase in temperature in proportion.

“You sons of bitches,” the Saiyan growled, his aura flaring and a blast of energy extending all around him.

The energy blasts would strike down some of the angels that didn’t place their shields out on time. Those that defended from the attack would create energy barriers around Spicer’s limbs and begin to squeeze down to not only crush his limbs but severe them off his body.

As the angels were preparing to crush his limbs into a bloody paste the lead angel would have several slashes appear on its body. The barriers on Spicer’s body would fade as he saw the angel falling into pieces and the other angels falling down on the ground as though they were puppets who had their strings cut. Standing behind the angel was Jules.

“I wasn’t expecting to see you here, general.” Spicer saw the elder’s robes had burnt patches. Others were torn up and it was covered in blood. The elder himself had a large bump on his forehead and he had a black eye on his left eye. He saw numerous bruises and cuts. But more alarmingly he saw him clutching his side which was stained with his blood.

“You have to leave here Spicer. This battle isn’t yours.” Jules told him. The two would hear a loud explosion coming from somewhere close to the temple. “There is an angel… No. A monster in here. Its name is Gebel. It’s hunting everyone in the temple down. I had Kubu tasked with setting up explosives and rescuing anyone trapped. I’m here to distract the angels and Gebel.”

Spicer landed on the ground and took a moment to catch his breath.

“Have everyone get out, and find Queen Serenity and General Ashwood,” he told the elder. “I’ll find this Gebel.”

And kill it

Jules looked at Spicer with shock. “You brought the queen here!” he snarled. “If she dies in here her people will think that we’re responsible for her death.” the elder would stick his hand into his robes and pull out two bottles. He would have one of the bottles float to Spicer as he opened his and began to drink it.

As Jules finished downing the contents of the potion he would throw the bottle behind him. “I’m not gonna her die in this place. I will find the queen and make her leave,” he told Spicer as he began to walk away. When he went past the Saiyan he would stop for a moment. “Be careful Spicer. Gebel is not like the other angels. That one is more close to Fuar than the others.” he would soon walk away from the Saiyan.

Spicer quickly drank the potion and felt his energy restored, depleted from his battle against the dragons, Oberon, and the angels. He gave the elder a grateful nod as he continued through the temple, wondering what exactly he meant as he neared the source of the high power level.

As Spicer neared the source of the high power level he would feel his foot stepping onto something both mushy yet hard. Looking down he would see that he was stepping into a severed, burnt, arm. His boot was sinking into the charred flesh as it began to slouch down and off the burnt bones. He would see the other burnt and mutilated bodies of mages that fell. Among the bodies, he saw one that was guarding a group of much smaller bodies, children. The guardian was cut down while the children were huddled together in fear as someone incarcerated them.

From the bodies, he saw that none of them seemed to have any weapons on them.

Did they all have their weapons stolen after they were murdered or did Gebel struck down unarmed mages? Jules was right, only a monster would do this. Not even Floe would stoop so low…, the Saiyan thought as he turned from the horrors before him.

He would feel the ground rumbled as he would hear a familiar voice echoing from the halls.

“NINJA ARTS: SHADOW CLONE BARRAGE!”

He heard the voice of Kubu as he would hear multiple explosions going off. Should he go after the source he would eventually find a large circular chamber with the symbol of Paradiso on the floor. The chamber had statues of angels surrounding him, some looking similar to the ones he fought. There was a large dome made from stained glass. From the chamber, he would see multiple Kubu’s trying to strike down a six-armed golden angel but the angel’s speed was equal to the ninja as not only did he manage to block her strikes but he slew some of her copies.

“Mr Spicer!” he would hear Clarinet say. Turning to face the young Namekian he would find him with other children and a few grown mages, most of them being old women with a few younger maiden and men who have their staff ready to defend the children.

“Why are you here and where is Mr Jules?” he asked him.

“He’s fine, Clarinet,” Spicer said as he knelt in front of the child. “I need you to go with Kubu and the others to find Lottus and Queen Serenity,” he explained. “I’m going to kill whoever did this.”

The Namekian looked scared. “You can’t fight him! The others said that mortals can barely stand against an archangel!” he warned him. The two would hear an explosion and soon they would see Kubu fly towards them and hit the wall, bouncing off it and falling down on top of the mages until she was suddenly floating above them, caught by the mages.

“The heretical queen. The ultimate thief of them all. She who stole more from the gods than all of the other magi.” Spicer heard the angel said. He would hear the sound of machine parts moving as the cybernetic creature began to walk towards him.

“If you brought her name then that means you must be General Spicer? The space warrior who has made Midgard his temporary home” he would hear the angel stop moving as he placed his hand behind his back.

“I was expecting someone of your reputation to be older.” the angel told the Saiyan as he looked down at him. Clarinet began to shiver as he backed away, the other children doing the same as the older mages got between them and the angel.

Spicer frowned at the angelic being.

“You are the one responsible for this?”

The angel’s side fins moved slightly. “Yes. I am the one cleansing these cursed lands of the taint these magi have brought upon the world.” Spicer’s aura flared as he received confirmation.

“Are you also responsible for the attacks against Her Majesty?”

The angel chuckled as he raised his hand up. “Perhaps? What can you possibly do against me, monkey?” the angel questioned. “You had a difficult time dispatching pawns. What does that say about your chances against an angel with substantial power?”

“If you’re so powerful, why do you need pawns in the first place?” Spicer countered, his aura rising higher.

“I can ask the same thing about you, Spicer.” he would bring his cracked masked face closer to Spicer. His golden eyes staring down to Spicer’s black. “If you are so confident in protecting the queen why do you need your own pawns to join in the fight? Especially when you know that a majority of them are no match against my own pawns?”

Spicer sneered at the angel and clenched his fists before he swung at Gebel’s face. The archangel grabbed his fist as quickly as Spicer threw it. He began to apply pressure on the fist as he pulled it back in an attempt to break his wrist.

“Did I strike a nerve monkey? Could it be that perhaps you don’t want to admit that I’m right about your forces? Or is this pathetic attempt a vain attempt to show that you cared for them when in reality you don’t? Why would a Saiyan care for those who are inferior to him?” the angel mocked.

“You wouldn’t get it,” Spicer muttered through the pain. The Saiyan put his free left hand in front of himself and fired at Gebel’s chest.

I don’t need to beat him, I just need to give the mages time to escape.

The archangel would let out a scream as he would punch Spicer on the cheek, sending him flying away. The angel would place two of his hands on his chest as he glared at the Saiyan. “You filthy monkey! You will pay for that!” the angel would summon four of his blades and begin to stomp towards the Saiyan. The other mages would see the two about to fight.

The adults would begin to instruct the children to follow them as they lead them all away from the two. As they all ran Clarient would look back for a few seconds until he felt one of the children grab him by the wrist and pull him forward.

Gebel saw the action and laughed. “Your “allies” have turned their back on you. Just like your gods.” He would begin to spin two of his hands rapidly until the blades he held were now acting as buzzsaws. The angel began to charge forward towards Spicer as he cut up and burned the floor with his blades.

Spicer looked back at the fleeing mages and he resisted the urge to grin as he focused back on the cybernetic angel in front of him. He back stepped away from Gebel as he fired a few energy blasts at the ceiling to bring parts of the room down on the angel.

When Saiyan fired at the ceiling he would cause the glass dome to shatter, all the shards falling down on the two pieces of the ceiling began to fall on top of Gebel. The archangel would jump to the left to dodge the debris. He would turn to face the general as he threw one of his swords at Spicer as he ran towards him with the three swords as he fired plasma bolts from his three empty hands. Spicer dodged the first sword but was too slow to dodge the plasmablasts. Instead, he crossed his arms in front of him and took the bolts as Gebel neared.

The Saiyan crouched down as swept kicked Gebel’s legs. However the kick would only have Spicer making the archangel buckle his legs but he won’t make him fall, he did stop the angel from running as he looked down at the Saiyan with confusion. Spicer would feel intense pain from his ankle as he underestimated the strength of the metal that made the angel’s legs.

Gebel would grab Spicer by his armour and throw him to the wall and he would be pelted by a barrage of plasma bolts as Gebel would throw a blade at the general, stabbing him on the stomach and keeping him pinned on the wall. Spicer vomited up blood as he put his hands on the sword blood.

Damn, he thought. Gebel would laugh at the sight before him. “Is this what a Saiyan is capable of?” he mocked as he reached up and grabbed the hilt of the sword, pushing the blade deeper into Spicer and the wall. “I had hoped you Saiyans would put up more of a fight than most mortals but so far you and humans are the same. You disappoint me, general.” he would pull the sword out and let Spicer fall to the ground.

Once on the floor, the angel looked down at him. “Any last words before I sent you to King Yemma in pieces?”

“Your...processor... must be broken,” he said with a bloody grin as Spicer raised up his fists and smashed them on the ground, forming a series of fissures around him and the archangel. The archangel would sink his talons on to the ground to keep him steady even if he began to wobble around. “What in Belenus are you doing you fool?” The archangel was more annoyed by Spicer’s action than worried.

“Some interior decorating,” Spicer muttered out as he again smashed his fists against the floor of the temple. The angel would fall over but catches himself on his hands. “Your primate punching won’t save you monkey.” he stabbed his claw into the wound he made on Spicer but the moment he did that the ground below Spicer would break off and fall away. Gebel would pull his hand out and watch as Spicer fell deep into the basement level of the temple.

Gebel looked at the blood on his hand and he clinched it to a fist. “I will let you run this time, monkey. That way you can tell the rest of your kind that their superiority and might is as illusionary as humanity’s freedom and future.” The archangel declared as he got up.

The angel would see from the shadows several beings rising. They all wore dark jade masks showing grotesque smiling faces; their pale and emaciated bodies were bared to the world save for the lower half that was covered by a black long skirt and chain belt that held many instruments and twin curved, and serrated short swords. “Find the bombs the mages planted and dismantle them. I want those weapons to be used for some other targets I have planned that we can use to pin it on the mages,” he told the masked angels.

“Besides that, capture a few of those heretics for questioning and for my “special project”.” he would turn to four of them. “Follow the monkey wherever he goes. Make sure he tells the others what happened here and if he is with anyone important, eliminate them.” the angels bowed before Gebel before they all sank into the shadows.

The general began to walk away from the chamber as he felt the temple shake. “The first phase of our operation is going according to plan. Soon the magi shall be nothing more but a myth on this world and soon the whole universe.”

Spicer woke up to find himself in a dark chamber. The injured Saiyan blinked a few times as he tried to get his bearings, and checked his scouter. Gebel’s energy signature was gone, and he gave a sigh of relief, but even so, Spicer wondered if the mages got to safety as he slowly rose from the floor and looked around him.

“From the look of it, and based on what Serena and Lottus have said, this looks like the Fallen Temple,” he said aloud as he hobbled forward. Pain rushed through his body, and Spicer was still bleeding, but he had to go and make sure Serena and Nymph were safe.

“Okay Nymph. Your brand new swords that can cut and burn through plants that you earned for reaching master rank are in shambles. You are still tied up in vines like you are a part of your sister’s erotic comics. And you let the queen and Spicer alone in a city crawling with every creature made by Heim. This is truly like a typical Monday.” the witch said with a sarcastic tone.

The whole mission went into hell in a handbasket since she tried to enter the city by a portal. She should have sensed the trap before she fell for it but let her emotions get the better of her. Now she was a prisoner of Titania. Well she had one idea.

“I’m gonna hate doing this.” the witch began to chant a mantra she heard before, making symbols with her fingers as she can still use them. Titania would feel the heat in the air begin to cool rapidly. Any liquids present would begin to freeze from the rapidly plummeting temperature. The heat being siphon was all going to Nymph who was converting it into magical energy along with her Ki. As she absorbed the new Anima into her body and would channel it through her body and move it towards her mouth as she began to recite the verse in her mantra to cast the spell she had in mind.

Once the final verse was uttered she would take a deep breath and bletch out a blast of fire like a dragon. The witch would blast the stream of fire at Titania before she would turn to the vines that surround her in order to burn them off and set herself free from their snares.

As she belched out fire she would unleash some of her energy strings and have them warp around the vines and squeeze them so the construct can also begin to burn some of the vines. As the vines began to burn she would see that some of the flames were doing off rather quickly as the foliage was absorbing the magical energy into themselves to regenerate from the damage done to them. However the strands Nymphaea summoned would finally cut through the vines holding her arms and wrists in place, releasing those limbs.

Nymphaea would use this freedom to push her body up and form the strands into twin blades on her hands and cut the vines warped on her legs, ankles, and waist. The witch would hover in place before blasting the fairy a powerful gust of wind to give her a boost in speed as she flew away from Titania and her vines.

The witch would turn upward and fly above Titania before creating a massive mandala behind her. “This is my only warning Titania. Return back to your realm peacefully or else I will be forced to send you back myself, and I can’t guarantee you may come back in one piece.” she warned the fey, trying to intimate her with a threat.

In the back of her mind she was aware that it would not work but she rather not have to fight the fairy.
“You’re warning me?” the fairy let out with a chuckle. “Now that is rich darling.” A burst of plants of various types exploded out of the ground behind the Saiyaness, vines attaching themselves to Nymphaea, whilst sentient plantsattacked her.

The witch grunted as she was once more trapped by vines. “Oh come on! You seriously have a thing for trapping people in vines don’t you?” she accused the fey as she struggled to break free. “Why are you even here Titania? Last time I checked you weren’t the biggest fans of angels. Especially since you and Gabriel are always fighting.” she said.

The witch had to get some information from the fairy, she needed to know why a powerful Fae such as Titania and Oberon were here, fighting with their angelic rivals. But Nymph also needed to distract the fairy in order to channel her magic into her body. An attempt to raise her body temperature enough to create a burst of fire to release herself from her entanglement.

Titana glared at the witch as she tightened the binds on Nymphaea, making the witch wince as she can feel her bones being squeezed tightly and she can feel her lungs being constrained from the pressure. “Do not mention that name to me, I’m not here to aid that woman nor her kind.”

Nymphaea was thankful for her mother and the other masters teaching her those breathing techniques as she was now using her teachings to still gather some much needed air as she continued to channel more energy for her spell. “You are working with the angels on your own free will?” the skeptical witch questioned.

“It sounds to me like you were either bribed by the angels or they are somehow forcing you to work for them, and considering how you aristocratic types behave behind closed doors I heavily suspect blackmail is involved.”

Titana’s vines wrapped more intensely around the saiyaness, gradually taking up all of her lower body, before wrapping slowly around the saiyan’s neck. This one talked too much for her liking, if dealing with the pain of being here, within the human world, wasn’t enough, having a chattering monkey chirping at her was the icing on the cake. Still, she had been summoned, and while she felt the bound disappearing slowly and her grasp and existence within this reality slowly slipping- she still had the chance to stop Ragnorak by crippling the one who would bring it to the fruition, and while the Earthen Queen had escaped her, her friend was just as much of a liability as well as an easy target for blackmail.

Nymphaea felt the vines cling to her neck like a rope around a mast. Slowly the air was forced out of her oesophagus bringing her close to blacking out, and she would’ve, if Titania’s vines hadn’t suddenly loosened. Much like Oberon the Fae felt an intense pain in her chest, her natural glow dimming noticeably, and she was unable to focus on strangling the saiyaness.

Nymphaea grew concern when she felt the vines beginning to strangle her. As her flow of oxygen stopped so did flow of new magic into her body. The witch thought of unleashing her spell right now in an attempt to escape when she felt the vines losing their hold on her. She can tell that Titania made a mistake with this action and Nymphaea was willing to make the fairy pay dearly for it.

The witch would scream out as she expelled the magic she had gathered as fire would blast out of her aura, consuming the vines in the conflagration. The flames would travel down to the source of the vines and set them ablaze. The inferno would release embers that would land on Titania and each ember would ignite her leafy dress.

Nymphaea would pull and break the burning vines as they fell off her body. She would begin to recite the same spell she had used on Oberson as she began to create the various magic circles from her spell. But she makes little headway as a massive tree sprouts from just beneath her, shooting up thousands of feet from the ground, each branch that formed seemed to reach out for the saiyaness, and like a Whomping Willow smacked her from branch to branch.

Titania recovered and the flames against her form removed with a single hand gesture and her clothing repaired in seconds. Raising in the air and pulling out a vine-like whip from seemingly nowhere, she would lash out at the saiyaness with lightning quick lashes that were near impossible to dodge. She seemed more on edge now, the natural airy nature of a fae slipping from her grasp just like her presence on this plane. And the more she moved against Nymph, the more she realised that she was but a piece of a puzzle that was being moved against her own violation, but like any object made for manipulation she could only do one thing. Follow orders. It made her wonder if Oberon had come to this conclusion, she could not sense him on this plane of existence anymore, so one could only hope he had made it back safely to their realm. And she would be excited to greet him, once she has tempered the threat of Ragnarok.

The witch was sent flying straight to the tree after she was struck by the whip, hitting against the bark so hard that it would groan in protest and form several cracks as she fell off the tree and onto the ground. The witch barely had a chance to even try to get up when the tree began to beat her down with it’s branches.

The tree would keep beating up Nymphaea until it seemed the Saiyaness was no longer moving on her own, each jerk and movement was caused by it beating on her body. The tree would deliver it’s final blows as it hit her with all of it’s branches at once, causing a crater to form as it dug her deep into the ground as it right itself up and became rigid, looking not so different to any other tree on Earth.

Looking down at the crater Titania would find Nymphaea lying in the crater, either she was knocked unconscious or she was killed by the beating. In truth she was somewhere between consciousness and unconscious, trapped in the border between life and death, as she can feel her very soul oozing out from her mouth but like a very long spit was still attached to her mouth.

"I fucking hate Mondays." the witch bemoaned in her pain induced foggy mind as she cried to herself as she felt aching pain from everywhere in her body, even parts of her body she never knew she can feel pain from.

Airceltria, Yunzabit Heights

Serena landed amongst the ruins. A Melange of concrete and wreckage as far as the eye could see. If Serena hadn’t once roamed these streets, she would’ve been lost as all was reduced to rubble, but for months she visited the various temples and facilities that were maintained within the magical barrier of Aircelterai. She moved with haste, there was not a second to be wasted, Elizabeth’s energy was fading quickly. If only she could've teleported there directly, but something within the chaos was still tugging at her magic, a sensation that acted as a constant reminder that teleporting was a gamble. It could not work at all or send Serena further away than she would like.

Standing at the centre of what once used to be a Mausoleum, Serena pushes away the rubble at her feet with telekinesis. She clears enough space for a sealed marbled door, circular in pattern with the encryptions of several generations of Ashwoods on it, to reveal itself. It’s marbled surface gleamed like a perfect pearl in the sunlight that rained down from the skies. Serena had little time to gawk at how well preserved it was- and she knew that as Elizabeth’s energy faded even quicker-so she stooped down low and placed her hand on the door head. Magic flowed from the tip of her fingers against the door and all the names of each Ashwood glowed and the door lock unlocked with an audible click.

~~~~
The catacombs of Aircelterai was a place scarcely threaded by Serena-there had been no reason for it in the past, but now she had wished Alex or Elizabeth had brought her down her, because even with Elizabeth’s magical signature still present in some capacity and gradually growing stronger the closer the Queen got to her, the maze-like passages and winding closed-spaced caverns were making tracking the half-demoness a daunting task.
Still Serena was determined and that determination paid off in her favour.
As the winding tunnels opened up into a grand cavity which stretched the circumference of a medium sized baseball field, The Queen could see, even from her position on top of the ledge entrance, an unconscious formed, resting upon the only patch of grass in the entire space. Without a second thought Serena leapt from the edge, flew over, and landed just a metre away from the downed person.
She knew it was Elizabeth before she even got a good look at the body-while she was relieved at her being alive, she was startled by the young woman’s condition-Serena bent down and placed a hand on Elizabeth’s forehead, channelling magic she began to heal the half-demoness.
A spark had Serena’s hand reeling back in fear of the pain. The Queen shook her hand, still feeling the sparks against her palm and backhand. Serena looked at her hand for a moment, then down at Elizabeth. What is going on? Serena wondered, before she proceeded to lift Elizabeth from her downed position. Carrying the smaller woman fireman style over her shoulder. “Now how am I gonna get us out of here…” She mumbled under her breath, moving despite not having a clear direction in mind, never once noticing how the patch of grass would immediately die now that Elizabeth no longer rested upon the hard earth.
From overhead there was a distinct rumble and dust cascaded like heavy raindrops down around and upon Serena and her unconscious companion. Serena was certain that was her cue to find a way out of here as quickly as possible- perhaps blasting herself out might be effective?- She wondered as she stared up at the continuously dancing ceiling.
Spicer continued to wander around the catacombs and chambers, wandering aimlessly through the darkness. His scouter was damaged in his fall, he noted, and he had no way of knowing where he was. The injured Saiyan put his hand against a pillar for a moment to rest, still clenching his bleeding stomach, before he slumped down.
Damn, I’ve lost too much blood, he thought. I’m going to die here, it seems. A wry smile appeared on the Saiyan’s lips as he closed his eyes.
“And I didn’t even get to tell her…”
At that moment Spicer felt a rumbling beneath him. The Saiyan opened his eyes and tried to stand.
Is that Gebel? he wondered. If it was, Spicer knew he didn’t have a prayer against the malicious archangel, but he had no choice; he would fight if he had to.
The rumbling intensified and before Spicer’s eyes a section of the earth, about 15 metres away from him, would glow, visible heat trails drifting upwards, before the ground gave way and a beam of light burst through. It charged upwards, paying the saiyan no mind and lighting up the catacombs like the morning sun over a wheat field. This went on for several seconds and then stopped.
With his trained eyes he could see someone zip up, through the hole in the ground and land right at the edge.
Serena stood with an unconscious Elizabeth still being carried over her shoulder. She had intended to just fly straight out, but as she was doing so, she had picked up on Spicer’s energy signature right away, and he most certainly looked worse for wear. “Oh kami.” She muttered, for a moment just staring at him in disbelief. “I would ask if you were ok but that would be stupid, cause you’re obviously not.”
Spicer looked at the queen with disbelief as he rested against the stone pillar.
“S-Serena,” he exhaled in shock. It was painful to speak, and the Saiyan had several questions, but he wondered if now wasn’t the time.
She moved in close, gently resting Elizabeth down at the side of the Saiyan. Elizabeth slumped slightly, her head pressed against Spicer’s shoulder, but Serena made him focus on her instead of Elizabeth the moment her hand connected with his bruised cheek. “Explain.” She said gently.
“I found the angel leading the attack,” Spicer managed to get out. “Its name is Gebel. He...he massacred the mages,” he said, his teeth clenched with anger as he thought about the senseless slaughter. “I held him off as some of the others escaped, but he was too powerful.”
Serena inhaled sharply, of course something like this would happen when they all had gotten separated, she was stupid for letting Spicer go off on his own. “All right, we’ll sort all of that out in a second.” Serena mumbled, eyes locking with Spicer’s for a moment before they drifted down to his cheek, where her thumb grazed an open wound. “Gonna focus on healing you, this might take longer than usual, I have a feeling something is messing with my magic here.”
She just hoped that she would get better results than she had with Elizabeth.
Spicer closed his eyes again as he felt Serena’s magic coursing through him. Like everything with the queen, it had an unusual tranquil effect on the Saiyan, as if washing away his doubts and anxieties for a moment. He felt his bones being set and his body healed, but there was something incomplete; Serena’s words that something was interfering with her magic had a very real and painful effect, as this was unlike the time she healed him back on Planet Glacia 24601.
Still, Spicer felt well enough to stand, and the gaping hole in his stomach was healed.
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” he said with a smile, which soon dropped just who exactly was lying unconscious.
“Where’s Lottus?”
Arashi
Ovan's speech was prompt. Arashi himself stood straighter, knowing that despite Ovan having taken the brunt of the work, he had certainly done his part. "I don't think any of them have the need to try you." His aura, which had been burning bright, twisted intensely around itself before dissipating into a few ribbons of flame. Ribbons that soon faded themselves.
Arashi's stance shifted, one leg bending behind his opposite knee, almost as if his legs were crossed when sitting, "The ones who didn't piss their pants are the lucky ones. But hell, anything you can teach me, I'm willing to learn." Arashi had come a long way from when he had fought Onnio, but he still knew that there were those whom could end him in a heartbeat. Knowing Ovan had at least stood up to Fuar, it was clear that he was one of those beings.
The Republic of Atria wrote:Before Ovan could continue and get back into the fight, the man who introduced himself as Higu was struck by an energy blast that he somehow missed. Despite having a considerable portion of his flesh incinerated, Higu was still alive. In fact, he seemed to... mutate? Grow? Something that Ovan didn't know how to describe. His size increased massively, so much so that he jumped away as he became a large skeleton torso and head. Even his normally implacable demeanor cracked a bit. "Higu... Look, there's a lot going on right now. I'm going to need a moment or so to process that." There was still an invasion going on though it seemed to be tapering off.
Though he wanted to make sure that if the angels were planning on trying again, they knew that they would have to deal with him. Another one of the wheel-shaped ones fired a bright ray of light at him. One of the few remaining monsters that had been assaulting the planet. Ovan stuck out both of his hands, the energy being so bright that it made him close his eyes and rely on his other senses. Though he'd deflected so much worse by now that collecting the energy and throwing it back at the angel, it exploding in the same light it shot at him. At this point there were only a handful left and dealing with them would be trivial. He shot into the sky ready to swat the last of them and confront Higu about everything. He'd take a look to see him still there and sighed before smiling a bit.
He was going to have his work cut out for him for the next while.
A few hours later...
With the angels dealt with, as far as he knew, he gathered the handful of earth warriors that were doing their best. "Alright. I'm not big on the whole hope and dreams schpiel, but I do respect your desires and drive to protect our home. And because I was late, you have my deepest and sincerest apologies." He admitted, head down.
"BUT. I am here now, and I'm here to stay. More importantly, I want to take those willing under my tutelage and show you how to harness your real strength. I won't make you. Your life, your choice. If you feel the need to test my strength, I'm more than happy to prove it. Any questions?"
Higashi sat dejectedly in the dirt. After his, well, he didn't know what to call it. Transformation? Mutation? Giant Skeleton Body? He had no idea. The pain in his left arm had subsided completely. What was different this time was that a strange sense of relief and coolness had washed over him after. He felt better than he did before, and that made him feel even worse about whatever happened to him. Some of his subordinates tried to look after him. They offered words and their petty rations in an attempt to comfort him. One offered a mirror and Higu saw himself in it. He had thick lines around his eyes from where the strands of flesh had connected to him. They were prominent and marked his face distinctly. This did not comfort him.
Ovan had briefly spoke to him post transformation. Seemingly just as surprised by his transformation. He spent the next few hours cleaning up whatever stragglers were left. Higashi spent those same few hours still in the dirt. Finding himself incapable of moving. Ovan eventually returned to the little group that had gathered around him, including the Torhan General Arashi. He gave a little speech about not being here when the Earth needed him, which he apologized for, which struck Higu as very odd that he would say that. After all Higashi was the Champion, why wouldn't it be safe with him here? But he knew the answer already, he hardly had to look around at his injured soldiers and his own poor condition to know what his heart was saying already.
"I was weak." was all he thought to himself.
He had stopped listening in detail, only brought back to the conversation by the General Arashi agreeing to something. Higu closed his eyes and concentrated on what he thought he heard. Something about training? Was Ovan really offering some kind of 'get rich quick' regimen to him? He didn't really have any questions. He looked up for the first time in hours, "Really?" he asked, somewhat exasperated, "Yeah whatever I guess."
Well, two students wasn't much, but it was better than nothing. He'd known Arashi for a while, even if the two barely ever spoke during their tenure with the PTO. Though he noted Higu looked rather down about everything. "Chin up buddy. Don't feel bad about what happened earlier." He started. "Losing's a part of life. It sucks, it hurts physically and mentally, but that's fine. It's supposed to. Losing is the bit that makes you realize you could be better. Don't look at it as being weak or whatever. Look at it as exposing your flaws."
"Anyways, the training is probably going to be pretty similar to what you're used to, but with two notable differences. It's probably going to be a lot harsher, but to make up for it." He said and pointed towards his ship. "I've got a cool little tool in there that's going to greatly expedite the process. Arashi, you probably know what I'm talking about. My ships got a few healing pods in it. So, I'm gonna train you two until you can't move. Heal you up, which'll take about... Anywhere from half an hour to an hour. And then we repeat the process. I'm also gonna see if I can order one of those fancy gravity generators. Higu, you're gonna want to be spending a lot of time in there. Trust me, it makes an immense difference."
"After that then we're gonna start trying to figure out what the hell that thing you did a few hours ago was because it was really weird and made up the difference. Plus it makes you huge as hell. It actually reminds me of the Saiyan ability... Alright. Any questions? If not, training begins now. Higu, come'ere." He said leading him inside his ship to the gravity chamber. "Based on where you're at, we're going to want to start you at about... Ten times? I think that's right. Twelve if you want to push it. Just do whatever you normally do for training in here. Pushups, situps, juice, you know. If you start to feel a little weak or tired, turn it off immediately. Otherwise you'll pancake and it'll REALLY start to suck. Afterward, you can use my healing pod to get back into it and go again."
"I'm gonna make a warrior out of you if it kills me."
Astral Sea
Dream
Elizabeth felt a splash of water hitting her body. The witch was being roused from her slumber as she could hear waves crashing on the shores. The witch looked up to see a starry sky with many alien worlds floating above her. The witch pushed her body up to sit up on the white sandy beach. When she looked around she saw palm trees from her left side and she saw a dark purple sea with waves rising up and crashing into the water surface, water rushing to the shore and some of it hitting her.
The witch was now in her demon form; her more natural state. While she could change how she appeared in the Astral Sea and the many dreamscape universes connected to it, the realm will always show a person in their truest form by default. The cambion would get up and look around. She would rub her forehead.
“What happened?” she asked. As she raised her wing up she would feel a massive jolt of pain. The pain she felt forced her into her knees as she screamed in pain. She would get visions of the Fallen Temple being destroyed by legions of angels, her attacking them and bringing one through the walls to encounter the general that was leading them. She would remember her fight against him and how he cut off her wings and stabbed her in the back before she fled.
When she looked out she was surrounded by black smoke as she saw a glow perceiving through the smoke. From the glow she saw the figure of the angelic general walking towards her, the being taking out his blades.
Elizabeth would growl as she brought her hands together and unleash a beam of dark energy towards the figure. When the beam struck the smoke and figure vanished instantly as well as her beam. The cambion was back on the beach. The witch blinked as she was confused as to what happened until she shook her head.
“Bloody dream realm.” she would get back up. She would lift her wings up and squint her eyes as she felt some pain but it wasn’t as bad as before. “I might have been in a nightmare before coming here.” she looked around. “The question is why? Why am I here?”
“Why are any of us here?” a voice then called out to Liz from behind. A person stood behind her, their back turned towards the cambion’s back - even when turned around, however, it wasn’t hard to tell that the figure was a man. From the neck to his boots, he was clad in a green jumpsuit - complementing the bushy set of black and dark green hair.
Ikki too was staring across the empty beach, watching the shore and the waves crashing over it, but then turned his attention over his shoulder and spoke:
“Hi, Liz, it’s good to see you.”
Elizabeth looked at the green and black Saiyan hair, her eyes moving up and down as she began to walk around him. From her expression alone it was clear that she was surprised to see Ikki. She would eventually stop to his right side and she would reach out and touch his right cheek.
“Are you real?” she asked him, unsure if she should be happy to see him or not because she can’t tell if what she is seeing is just a projection born from her subconscious or if she is seeing the dream form of Ikki.
She looked up at his hair. “A part of me heavily suspects that you are alive and real.” she would begin to rub his hair. “Because there is no way I would have a dream of you with that haircut. I much prefer your old one.” the witch teased as she gave him a smile.
Ikki didn't resist, cracking a smile and closing his eyes - even if the pat on his head was made awkward by their height difference.
"How do you know? If we're in your subconscious, or something like that, then maybe this is what you secretly always wanted me to look like?" he replied to poke a bit of fun. Now, the question of reality...
"Am I real... Would you like me to be real?"
Elizabeth looked at him before she gave him a hug. “I think that answers your question.” she told him as she kept the hug. The sudden display of affection caught Ikki off guard, breaking his initially relaxed attitude - but the Saiyan played along and wrapped his arms around Liz. “I missed you bushy head. I knew you were still alive out there.” she would wrap the two of them with her wings followed by her tail. She would move her head back to look at him.
“Where are you Ikki? How did you manage to survive that blast and why haven’t you returned to us?” the cambion asked.
Ikki watched her fire off question after question, the smile on his face slowly starting to fade - the astral Saiyan then turned towards the sea behind Liz, and the starry sky above it. He wasn’t sure how to respond.
“I’m... sorry. I’m not in a place where I could return to any of you - not for a long time, anyway,” he finally replied and turned back to the woman. “And I... probably shouldn’t worry you so much over where I’m at, right? You and everyone else, you’re in the middle of something tense, I can tell...”
Elizabeth’s smile faded when Ikki mentioned that they were in the middle of something tense. The saiyan would see the wings and tail letting him go as they sag down. “Tense is putting it lightly Freckles.” she would let him go and move back so she would turn to face the ocean.
The two would feel the salty brisk breeze hitting them. “The angels destroyed my home Ikki.” she told him as she crouched down. She began to trace on the sand with her finger. “They attacked out of nowhere. They had all trapped in the Heights, the only way to escape was by airship or other magical means that kept us visible for their sharpshooters. They slaughtered so many people in there.”
Ikki would begin to smell something burning close by, but there were no signs of anything burning. “I saw them kill every mage they found. Men, women, children. No one was safe. For Kami’s sake they took potshots at the lifestocks.” She would swipe at the sand and make a mound fly into the air.
“They were more than just animals. They were monsters, and I killed them as such! I hate them!” she told him as she got up suddenly, her wings raised up almost as though she was about to take flight at any second as her eyes shine brightly as it was fueled by the fire of her hatred. “I tried everything I could to save everyone but I failed!” the brightness from her eyes would begin to dim as he can see her eyes were beginning to water up. The witch would look down as her wings sagged back down as well.
“So many of my people died. Airceltria is in ruins. And the worst thing is that my mother was taken by those bastards.” she would turn around as she held herself by her arms and warped herself with her wings, refusing to cry in front of Ikki.
“I couldn’t save them, Ikki. I couldn’t do a damn thing back when we fought against Faur and now I was powerless to save the Order from the angels.” the beach around them was now changing into the sacred city; a once majestic city that was now in ruins as fire consumed everything.
Screams of agony and of the dying would fill the air, joined by the hint of burnt flesh and blood. “How can I take over for my mother as the Grand Master of the Order of Ancient Mysteries and protect the Earth from magical threats when I can’t even protect the people closest to me?” she said, tears streaking down her cheeks.
Taken aback by Liz’s lashing out against the angels and eventual breakdown, Ikki wasn’t even sure what to say at first. Merely, he stayed back, looking away while the witch continued crying her heart out. All the astral Saiyan could go by was what she told him - and her story insisted that there was no way out. So how could he find one.
Ikki’s body flashed and vanished, reappearing in front of Liz, and he knelt down before her, carefully reaching out to place his hand on her shoulder.
“I know the feeling. Back during all of our journey, I used to ask myself something similar almost every day. Not... becoming the Grand Master, but, you know, in general,” he began, with a solemn frown on his face as he tried to put the right words together. “You know, the world really is kind of unfair. So much power is wasted on people who only use it to cause harm to others, and so little of it goes to those who try to stop ‘em... Like those Angels, you know? The world just decided that your people, even though they never meant harm to anyone, will have to fall to those things. And just decided that those things will be so powerful that defeating any one of them is a chore... It’s crushing to think how much of a struggle simply living can be, right?”
Suddenly, however, the astral Saiyan struck a smile, and reached forward to wipe a tear from Liz’s cheek with his thumb.
“But if you see this unfairness and resolve that you should give up, or that you can’t do anything against it... then they’ve already won. The world decided that it’s going to throw insurmountable odds at you, but it can’t decide whether you’re a good Grand Master or not! It can’t decide that you’re bound to be a failure, or that you can’t pull through today and save those who are still out there. Only you can.”
Another smile. “You’ve got a few choices here - it’s simple logic, not unlike my dad’s maths and calculations. You can keep on trying, or you don’t. If you don’t, then you’ll prove the world right and you won’t have an Order to take over as the Grand Master of. If you try - well, who knows, maybe you missed something which could turn the tide, and you’ll find it at the very last moment? I know I did, and look where that’s gotten me... Or you don’t, but at that point, nobody will dare to call you weak, or unworthy of whatever title you want to assign to yourself. You’ll at least be able to claim that you tried.”
The cambion blinked when she felt Ikki touching her cheek to wipe a tear off her cheek. The cambion blushed slightly from the contact but she was looking at him inquisitively as he told her that he can relate to how she was feeling.
As he told her how this world was unfair, that it is one that allows for the wicked and greedy to prosper and allow those who are genuinely good to be preyed on by those wicked individuals and suffer by their actions, or by random chance. The message would turn from that somber thought to her having the choice to continue to fight against the odds to try to make things better or to give up, to simply allow the world and those who wronged her to ultimately win.
The cambion was silent as her tail wagged behind her. “You know. I figured that with how you and my sister get along so well you might have the same personality traits as her. But you surprise me with how mature you can be.” She turned to look at him. “Were you a master of the mystic arts in a past life?” the witch said in a joking manner.
“Uh, no. I don’t think...” Ikki blurted out as he stepped back and removed his hands from the witch. He didn’t even want to think about reincarnation and whatever that would entail. “I just... watch people, and try to make logical conclusions from what I see. Or, guesses, I suppose...”
She would begin to whip her eyes with her forearm. “But you’re right, I have the choice to decide if I give up now or I keep on fighting.” she would look up at the sky; looking now at a starry night sky as a pale moon shines above. The burning city was now fully restored and the two stood in front of a large pond in a park. Ikki would see a statue depicting Pria, The Northern Supreme Kai and the Goddess of Life, standing on top of a fountain at the center of the pond as jets of water would come out from the mouths of dragons, causing the streams to sparkle under the moonlight.
“If this bloody universe and the gods just want to kick my ass then I will keep on fighting to spite them. Yeah, I can get behind that.” she would look back at the fountain. “And if I get my chance to avenge everyone then next time I won’t fail. I will succeed no matter what.” she would clench her right hand into a fist as she gave a determined look. Just as the park returned back to the beach the two were in before.
“That’s the spirit,” Ikki called out, smiling, one of his feet slowly trailing across the sand, ready to turn around. “You’re stronger than you think you are, Liz. And so are all of your friends. Maybe you all just haven’t realized it yet, but trust me - when you wake up, you’ll find a way to turn it all around. Turn it around for me, would you?”
Cracking a grin, the astral Saiyan stepped aside, his body flickering and slowly starting to fade - it was still visible enough to see, but it wasn’t going to take long for him to vanish from the Astral Sea completely.
Elizabeth looked over to Ikki. “I’ll make sure to save a good punch on that archangel’s face for you.” she told him as she gave him a grin. “Now you promise me that when we meet again it will be in the waking world.” she told him as she can see the water changing into cosmic dust and tiny stars. The forest closed by turning into dust as planets rose from the ground. The sand began to move on it’s own and formed into spheres that would float up, growing slowly until they either became stars or planets.
“I... hope so.” Ikki replied, simply, and the astral projection vanished at last, joining the dust dissipating into the pitch black skies in between the stars.
Elizabeth saw Ikki disappear as the beach was now gone, the cambion standing on a swirling sea of space dust as she was surrounded by stars and alien worlds. “So long.” she told him as she began to flap her wings and fly off into space. The cambion flies off to try to find any clues she can find in the Astral Sea that can point her out on how to fight off the angels.
Collab between Naval and Brit
Central Capital
Cabinet Chamber
“Before we can begin with this meeting I wish to extend gratitude for all of you displaying bravery on leaving your personal shelters in this dire hour to ensure the systems of governance are still functioning,” Chancellor of the Exchequer Kiyomori Taira said to everyone in the chamber with him as he stood in front of his seat.
“These incursions by the beings known as “Angels” has been trying times for us all, especially for our subjects. But it’s times like this that we humans show the universe that we are a resilient and adaptable species. We have overcome many hardships before, this one will be no different.” he would turn to Prime Minister Archibald Turnbull.
“Prime Minister. I believe you have some news for us about these incursions?” he asked as he took a seat on his cushion seat.
Turnbull took a sip of his tea as Taira finished. The Prime Minister savoured the moment and waited a few moments in relative calm.
“Regarding the attack on the Southern Capital, I am happy to announce that the victory was achieved largely by the efforts of Captain Urameshi, and the recent return of one Ovan Fawkes a martial artist of some note. Our official policy is to continue to let the PTO deal with them, but I am assurances from our contacts in the EBC any efforts by Earthlings will be highlighted over the PTO, The Vision aside.”
Taira smiled. “That is good to hear. Our people need hope and hearing how our brave men and women are faring against these creatures will keep them motivated.” he would place the tips of his fingers together. “I have word from Shinra that we are beginning the final touches on a few new war machines for our soldiers. In fact, one is inspired by something I overheard from Ms Ashwood.” Taira would let out a chuckle. “Our witch was really talkative after she had a few glasses of wine in her system. She talked about such fascinating magical constructs they had that I couldn’t resist on us having something close to them. I feel proud of our new creations. Once they are unveiled to the public I believe they will bring both awe and terror for both our people and the enemy.”
Taira would reach out for his cup and begin to sip. He would savour the tea for a moment before gently placing the cup back on the coster. “Of course, we can’t forget about the lovely contribution of Sora Industries. Their innovation is what allowed for some of our prototypes to be developed more quickly than originally planned.
Sitting to Taira’s right, Home Secretary Kimiko Hayaska lifted her kimono sleeve to her mouth as she spoke.
“And with the proliferation of PTO tech augmenting our new weapons,” she began, “we should be well prepared to government ourselves internally without fear of their interference.”
Taira turned to face Kimiko Hayasaka. "Quite true. Though I feel that even without PTO technology being available some of Shinra's patented technological innovations would have helped to turn the tide of the war." Taira reached into his pocket and took out a small disk-shaped object.
He placed it on the table and pressed a button, causing a turquoise light to appear as a holographic image appeared. The image static somewhat at points and the image were transparent but they can still see the form of a man wearing a set of dark body armour.
"I'm afraid the current uniforms and armour provided by our troops are no longer adequate for this conflict and future conflicts. With your permission and additional funding we can replace what our soldiers have with these new body armour," he told Turnbull. The Prime Minister and Home Secretary exchanged glances and satisfied smiles.
“Consider it done, my friend,” the Prime Minister replied. Taira would have a large grin as he leaned forward, clasping his hands in front of his lips. “I appreciate your support, my old friend.” The helmet of the faceless soldier would stare at the Prime Minister and Home Secretary as Taira began to formulate ideas for his future projects.
Yahho Forest
Within the dense vegetation of the Yahho forest, a man and his son dressed camouflage clothing hide behind bushes as they watched a deer walking into their line of sight. The deer would bend down to graze on the grass as the sun began to level his gun straight and look through the iron sight, aiming at the creature's neck.
The boy's grip was wobbling as he tried to align perfectly to shot at the creature. He can feel sweat forming on his brow as he stuck out his tongue. He would eventually stop shaking as he can feel sweat trailing down his face. He slowed his breathing down as he can feel his heart pounding in his chest quickly as adrenaline rushed through his system.
The boy now had his finger on the trigger as he was slowly beginning to push it down. As he was close to igniting the gunpowder within the rifle the deer would suddenly bring it's head up and run away from the clearing, just in time as the ignition finally struck the gunpowder within the rifle and the weapon unleashed an explosive chemical reaction that would not make a loud pop but send a bullet that would fly through the air and lodge itself onto a tree.
The father and son looked disappointed as the animal fled just as they were close to catching it. However, this disappointment would not last long as they can feel something wasn't right. The father would pull back his sleeve and he would see the hairs on his arm standing on their ends. The two can feel the air was becoming electric.
Suddenly they would see several portals opening before them and as fear made the boy standstill his father would grab him and pick him up, running away as the boy saw what can only be best described as the fusion of a tank and chariot with a lion-headed face emerged from the portal.
Music
From the air anyone can see trees being knocked over as the chariot tanks plough through the trees to allow for the angelic vehicles to come through unimpeded; those being cybernetic eyeballs with two large wheels connected with pylons armed with missile launchers and machine guns, centaur angels, another that seems to be a hover tank but with the torso, shoulders, arms and head of an angelic humanoid on top. Numerous angels would follow these on the ground and air as they tear through the forest and venture further to Ginger Town.
Parsley City
Massive angelic warships hover over the city as angelic soldiers patrol the ruined city, the final desperate dogfight between a weaken Earth airforce being shot out of the sky by the more numerous angelic fighters. Skyscrapers crumbled and burn as angels take prisoners of both citizens and captured soldiers alike. On other parts of the streets, soldiers try desperately to fight off the angelic horde but are ruthlessly cut down.
Civilians try to flee from the angels as they march after them but are ultimately forced to stop as birdmen come down to block their exit, trapping them between the angels. As small ships began to pick up the captured prisoners and taking them on board the larger warships a group of birdmen would stand on top of a government building. One would plant the flag of the angels while the other was waving the flag of the Earth Kingdom as azure flames were consuming it.
Southern sea
On a mostly deserted island, spider-like angels would climb out of the water as they reach the shore. Some being as small as a horse and others being the size of ten storey apartment complexes. As the angels began to walk inland they would have floating, ship-looking, angels hovering close by them as portals would open to drop off birdmen, cybernetic soldiers, and angelic hulks
From the sea shadows of more angels travelling underwater can be seen from those on the air as the other floating ships continue to fly towards an island close by the one the angels were invading.
Silver Platoon
Entire companies of Earth soldiers were surrounded by angels. The birdmen from the air glare down as massive spiders towered over the cybernetic soldiers that look to be like angelic knights with wrist-mounted plasma launchers. The soldiers had their weapons on the ground with their hands behind their heads as to show they have surrendered to the angels.
Close by they heard another company firing on the angels only for the sounds of gunshots to quickly be replaced by plasma bolts and screams shortly after. The affair was quick and soon silence return. Many hoped that action won't make the angels massacre them as well.
PTO Garrison, several kilometres east of Central Capital
From the air, portals opened as crescent-shaped vessels with golden wings stylized to look like that of a bird. The wings curve downward, making their tips the lowest point of the vessel. The silver body of the craft had a human-like face with a red visor where its eyes should be and two golden olive branches on top of the craft’s “head”, almost like horns or broken halos. The fighters would begin to fire bolts of plasma down at the garrisons as they return back into the air. From the ground more portals open as the spider, cybernetic soldiers, and birdmen came through with angelic hulks and several new angels.
Of the new angels, the floating heads spotted from Airceltria would teleport into the base along with armoured lizards using elemental magic and razor-sharp wheels with faces, and centaurs. Some of the fighters would fly behind the garrison perimeter and make their way towards the city.
Collab between Brit and the Bois
Airceltria, Yunzabit Heights
Spicer and Serena, with the still unconscious Elizabeth in tow, made their way back to the surface of the burning city angels still circle about, but they seemed less aggressive to Spicer as he peered over the fallen order.
The two soon saw massive purple circles form in the sky. They formed on top of each other like towers until they grew closer and closer until they began to create a fifth tower in the sky. A beam soared through the sky-tower before dividing down to the four other towers and hitting the ground.
The duo saw a bright amthety flash as a massive lightning bolt came down and struck many angels. Most fell motionless to the ground but others lost control of their bodies as they began to seize on the ground as a powerful current went throughout their bodies. Just as they thought they saw the last act of magecraft in a grand scale a red massive magic circle appeared and streams of fiery energy and smoke converged at the heart of the energy construct to form a miniature sun.
The sun slammed down on to the ground and unleashed a powerful explosion that knocked the three back from the shockwave that was unleashed.
Spicer rose from the ground, unsteadily.
What in the Holy name of the Kais is going on… Spicer thought as he scrambled over to the queen.
“Serena, are you all right?” he asked her hurriedly, regardless of how banal and pathetic his question was.
“I’m fine, Spicer, no need to worry,” she replied with a soft smile as the Saiyan helped her off the ground. With her telekinesis, she moved Liz’s still unconscious form back over to her, a tad unsteadily with the magical interference. The queen nearly “dropped” the cambion, but Spicer caught her and flung the mage over his shoulders.
“Let’s find Nymph and get out of here,”[color=#00BF00] she said as they started to make their way back to the surface. When they emerged, they saw streams of lights coming from the massive white magic circle from the ground as they went to one in the air, forming a massive orb of light. The orb soon unleashed a beam of pure light upon the surviving angels. A black and purple magic circle formed on the ground and streams of dark energy rose from all sides like a tide wave and submerged the survivors in a tide of darkness.
When the tide faded Serena and Spicer saw splashes of darkness floating in the air form into spikes that rained down on the survivors. With only a few angels left in critical condition, the duo watched as the earth split open as purple tendrils of energy came out and grabbed the angels. The tendrils flung them around before dragging them into the open fissures and the earth closing up on them.
The area clear of angels, several mages appeared, with Jules leaning on one of the mages. “General. Your Majesty. It’s nice to see you two are safe.” the elder said to the two before his eyes turned to Elizabeth which made him look at the witch with shock. “Ashwood! What happened to her?”
[color=#00BF00] “I found her in the catacombs,”
Serena explained to the elder. “Where’s Alex?” the queen asked in turn. The elders and mages looked unsettled at the question.
“We haven’t found her.”
“What?” Serena couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“You haven’t seen her at all?” Spicer interjected, just as worried as the queen. “Where was she the last time you saw her?”
“She was heading towards the Temple of the Astral Sea, but when we checked for survivors, she wasn’t anywhere in sight.”
Serena looked dejected, and she tried to focus on the elder Ashwood’s unique magical signature, but try as she might, Serena could not detect Alex anywhere in the city--or on Earth.
It could be the magical interference, but I’m certain she’s not here, and she isn’t dead either...I would know.
“Alex isn’t dead,” She assured the group. “But you need to get out of here, and fast.” Serena turned to Spicer.
“Can you lead the mages to safety? I’ll go and find Nymph.” Her commanding tone and stoney expression nearly surprised Spicer. He took a moment to recover as he stared at the beautiful queen, now so much more mature than the unsure girls he first met two years ago.
She’s come a long way, he noted, but even as he did, Spicer shook his head in negation.
“I can’t let you go alone,” he protested. “I might be next to useless against magical beings, but I can’t let you put yourself at risk.” Serena’s expression softened somewhat at the Saiyan’s words, if only slightly.
“Spicer, I’ll be fine, trust me. I took out Puck, remember?” she added with a light hearted twinkle in her eyes. “Look after Liz and the mages, make sure they are safe from any other dangers as they escape.” Spicer relaxed as he heard her words. The Saiyan knew she was right. He sighed.
“As you wish, Serena,” he said with a smile before he turned to the mages. “Let’s go, we’re heading to North City. Get all the survivors you can.” Spicer started to levitate and looked up at the sky, keeping watch from any angels or other magical creatures that might prove troublesome.
Serena broke into a grin as she watched Spicer take command of the refugees and the queen moved a strand of hair out of her eyes. “Go get em tiger” She thought before her attention refocused on Nymph’s magical signature as her eyes turned red. It was fading, and fast.
“I hope I’m not too late...“ Serena flew up into the air and darted to Nymph’s position.
When Serena flew into the air she would see two angelic fighters flying close by, one turning around before it would drop twin glowing blue orbs at a building. When the orbs landed they would unleash a powerful explosion as well as a ring of blue energy that would cause everything it touched to collapse or for the mages caught by it to ignite in flames.
The queen brought her hands towards them and slammed her hands together. The two fighters suddenly felt a force bring the two fighters crashing towards each other, causing them to explode with their flaming bodies crashing on the side of a mountain.
Serena saw several birdmen watching Titania as she stood before Nymphaea who was lying down on the ground badly injured. “Nymph!” she shouted, which got the attention of the angels and the fairy queen.
“I was wondering when you will show yourself, my lady.” Serena heard the fairy say in an obvious sarcastic tone. The fairy would snap her fingers and from the ground many green vines would come out with venus flytrap looking plants attached to them. The plants snapped their jaws on the angels.
The avians struggled to break free from the plants as they screamed out. “I was hoping that going after your little friend will eventually drag you out of your hiding hole. I’m so glad this monkey proved her worth.” she would have more of the venus flytraps surround Nymphaea. “I don’t need her anymore. I might as well have her be used as vital nutrients for my babies.”
The plants would open their mouths as digestive fluids ooze out of them. Serena’s body began to glow brightly as her eyes were consumed by the light.
“That’s enough!” she declared as she unleashed a bright flash from her hand. The plants would suddenly combust into flames as Serena would close her hand into a fist and pull her hand back, causing Nymphaea’s body to fly off the ground and towards the queen. Once Nymphaea was close enough Serena grabbed the witch.
“Oof. You’re heavier than you look.” she muttered as she put the Saiyaness over her shoulder.
“You came with Oberson didn’t you?” the red headed fairy gave the blonde queen a blank look.
“We are two halves of one coin.” She placed her hand on her chest as if in pain. “ You cannot summon one without the other, and we both were summoned here.
Titania's gaze hardened. “Perhaps it was faith that we would cross paths, Bringer of Ragnarok.”
Ragnarok? Serena thought in confusion as the ground split open as more roots would grow from the ground. Titania boasted as she unleashed some of the vines up into the air.
Serena flew up as she saw the vines following her. She looked down to see them. She hopes to eventually make the vines hit a limit where they can reach her so she can use her magic to set them on fire. However this would never happen as another angelic fighter would crash onto the vines, setting them on fire as they began to fall.
“I didn’t see that one coming…” The queen would quickly shake off her momentary surprise as she looked down at the powerful fairy. She would take a deep breath as she channeled more of her powers as she opened her free hand and raised her hand above her head. Down on the ground a massive hand made of stone would rise behind Titania. Serena would form her hand into a fist and the earthen construct would follow suit as she commanded it to punch down at Titana who would create a barrier of vines to stop the attack from hitting her.
Serena would use her powers to create a new hand and like before she would order it to punch the fairy but Titania would surround her with a barrier of vines with large thorns. Serena was going to use a new spell to break the barrier when she would scream in pain as she felt something hot hit her from behind, smoke coming from her back as a plasma bolt hit her.
An angelic head took the chance it had to open fire at Serena and it did so. The queen held on to the witch as she turned to face the angelic head as she would conjure a barrier to block the next shots from it. She would soon catch it with her telekinetic magic and send it down towards Titania where another venus fly trap would break through the ground and snatch the angel with it’s mouth.
Serena would unleash another bright flash that would cause all of the plants around the fairy to combust into flames.
As the barrier fell down she would find that Titania was now gone. The queen was puzzled as to where the fairy was when she sensed a powerful presence coming towards her quickly. Before Serena can react she would feel a powerful punch hit her on her stomach. The blow would not only cause her to let go of Nymphaea but would cause the queen to release both the air in her lungs and spit.
Before she can even recover she would feel another powerful blow being delivered on to her head by Titina that would send her flying down to the ground. Serena would have enough time to create both a body armor of pure energy for both herself and Nymphaea as both hit the ground hard, Serena hitting the ground much harder.
As she laid on the Serena shaped crater the queen began to get up but was forced back on the ground as she felt someone land on her back. The queen was grateful that her armor still covered her body, otherwise her back would have been broken from the force of the strike.
“To think that you would be the key to the end of days. I figured that you would pose more of a fight but so far you have only proven to be a disappointment. Looks like my husband was being lazy when you fought him.”
“Look lady, I don’t know what you’re…” red roots began to wrap themselves around Serena, cutting the Queen off. From the corner of her eyes she saw one of the roots having wide open mouths with rows of fangs, each mouth dripping out acidic salvia.
“Looks like I will return home much more quickly than I thought. How I love it wh-...”
Before Titania can finish she would be flung away from Serena when she was hit by a kinetic blast as well as the carnivores roots. The fairy would slow down her flight and soon stop as she realigned her body so she can land on her feet. She would see Nymphaea was on her feet, thought just barely.
The witch looked to Serena. “Thank you for saving me from that devil tree.” she gave her a smile. “I’ll take care of that fairy.” Nymphaea told Serena as she tried to move forward but almost bend and buckle as she winced in pain.
The queen blinked at Nymphaea. “Let you handle this on your own? You can barely stand on your own. We are either doing this together or we are running away. There is no other way Nymphaea.” Serena admamently declared as she got up.
The witch looked over at Serena and chuckled. “I guess we’re tag teaming this.” the fairy glared at the two as the plants continue to drip more acidic saliva. “I’ll take the ones on the left. You take on the ones on the right.” Nymphaea suggested.
Serena raised her hands towards Titania. “Or, we both put those evil weeds to the torch.” Nymphaea would follow suit. “That’s the spirit Serena.” the two magic users would unleash blasts of fire from their hands at the fairy.
Titania put up a vine shield that protected her from the brunt of the attack, and when it receded her eyes turned to malice.
“Now I shall show you the power of nature!” Titania placed her hands on the ground. Earthquakes shook the mountain city, and from the cracks magical flora sprouted. Rasor-like vines whipped at the mages, giant carnivorous plants attacked, and walking tree-like creatures picked up rocks and large boulders and hurled them at the duo.
Amidst the chaos, one of the vines grabbed Serena from behind and attached itself to the queen’s throat. Titania gave a cruel grin as the plant tightened its grip.
“I won’t let Ragnorak happen.” With that, the plant jerked the queen down and sent her slamming onto the cold ground below.
Four Years ago: Central Capital
“With the unfortunate passing of Crown Prince Atlas and his wife, Crown Princess Artemis, you and the royal princess Castor and Pollux will be moving into the palace,” Prime Minister Turnbull explained as he adjusted his glasses. He stood over the young woman, her eyes still red from crying, but it appeared that he gave little sympathy to the 16 year old.
“Your father, quite mistakenly, I might add,” he continued, “kept you and your brothers out of the media’s spotlight, but with your sudden advancenet as first in line to the throne means you are going to need to step up, as it were, in your public appearances. Your new responsibilities begin now.”
Serena looked up at the towering Prime Minister.
”W-what do you mean? My parents funeral was only an hour ago.”
“We are all grieving,” he said stoically. “Prince Atlas represented the future of the monarchy, and your mother was deeply popular with the masses. It is for that reason it is your duty to do as we say.”
The girl didn’t know what to say to the Prime Minister. She looked down at her hands as she clenched her fists.
If only I was stronger in my magic. Maybe...maybe I could have saved them. I could have done something. Castor and Pollux, they’re all I have left. I-I have to keep them safe now.
“In any event,” Turnbull interrupted the princess’ thoughts. “His Majesty requested to see you. Come along, Princess Serena. We don’t want to keep him waiting.”
Serena awoke, her eyes burning red with magic as the plant vine burned away from her neck as her hands glowed with a similar red aura. She thrusted a hand forward as a shoot of magical energy struck Titania in the head.
“You really don’t know when to quit, do you?” she snarled at Serena. The walking trees made their way over to Serena, throwing more boulders and bits of architecture at the enchantress. A red-hued transparent shield blocked the attacks bedure a burst of magical energy shot forth and incinerated the trees and any low lying plants. Small fissures formed where Serena stood as she looked back up at the fae. The centre of Serena’s chest began to glow with magical energy as Earth’s sovereign shot upwards towards Titania as she fired off a volley of magical blasts. Titania tried to defend herself, but steadily Serena pushed her into a retreat.
“Maybe you are the key. Raguel was right...” the fae muttered out as she dodged one of Serena’s attacks.
As Serena battled Titania the Saiyaness used the distraction to begin her ritual to banish the fairy. She recited the same incancrations as she formed the same colorful magic circles. When the Earth began to shake Nymphaea floated in the air so it won’t interrupt her spell. At the exact moment the final magic circle was made and all of them appeared under Titania.
With the final chant Nymphaea would call down a beam of white light on the fairy, completing the spell. “I bloody hate plants!” Nymphaea would shout at the fairy as she was consumed by the beam, sending her right back to the Feywilds.
"Well, never did have a lot of stamina. I haven't done nearly as much traditional training as either of you, if I had to guess, so this will be interesting. I'm ready when you are." His breath quickened just a bit in excitement, because it was true. While his martial skill was impressive, Arashi had rarely made significant increases in power without entering the state of pseudo-meditation that Tohrans used to increase their power.
Airceltria: A Year Ago
Alex sat on a simple wool carpet she sat up as she looked at the garden outside of the porch. The grand mistress would pour tea on her earthen made, rustic, mug and after placing the tea kettle back would raise the mug to her lips to drink from it. As she placed the tea away from her lips the witch would let out a content sigh as she closed her eyes, allowing the warmth of the tea to course through her body.
"So that is where you were hiding this time." the grand mistress looked to her right and looked up to see Jules. She raised her mug to him. "Morning Jules. Care for some tea?" she said with a smile. The dark skin mage gave out an exasperated sigh. "Move aside. I should be dragging you back to the Council Chamber but I know you will kick and scream just to break free if I do that." the witch's smile grew as she moved aside, patting at the spot she was previously sitting on as Jules walked over and sat on it.
As Alex began to pour tea on the other cup she had on the table. "And biting. If I get the chance I will bite too." the witch let out a chuckle as she slid the cup over to Jules he let a small smile appear on his lips. "Yes. I was often the victim of that in our youth. I had to be around to make sure you didn't cause too much trouble." he said as he rose the cup and began to drink from it.
Alex would grab her cup. "Which only made the plans to make my pranks all the more fun since you gave me an extra challenge." the giggling mage retorted before drinking her tea. "At least one of us enjoyed ourselves. But I will admit that I do owe you for my skills on tracking people down and spotting the finer details in things." Jules brought his cup close to his face but did not drink from it yet. "As well as disarming bombs and sigils." he thought back to the complicated arrays of magic circles and alchemical devices made by Alex back in their youth whenever she wanted to mess with people either because she didn't like them or due to boredom. He felt a shiver go down his spine at being reminded of some of the more dastery traps he had to deal with.
"And you helped improve my stealth and trapping capabilities. So I saw we both helped each other back then." she told him as the mages began to drink from their tea. As Alex put down her cup she would look at the trees as the leaves blew against the leaves. "Looking back, I never thanked you for keeping me in line and preventing me from going overboard with my pranks. You were always there to reign me in and never fully lose control." she would begin to refill her tea cup.
Jules would place his hand behind him as he leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. "It's almost comedic if you think about it. We were and still are the complete opposites of each other. Yet somehow despite all of that we manage to trust each other." he said as he spun his cup. "I think it was that time we were separated from our mentor back in Five Star City and we had to survive on our own."
A look of recognition flashed across Alex's face. "By the gods that one. We had no idea how the outside world worked back then. Remember the time we tried to get food from the store but we were chased by security because we didn't know what money was and we figured everyone had the same system as we do?" Jules began to laugh along with Alex as the embarrassing incident returned to his mind.
"Don't forget the time you tried to summon a cartoon dragon from a television set because you thought they made a magical device that can show other worlds." Jules laughed a bit louder while Alex looked away blushing. "Or how about the time those drunk girls wearing revealing dresses started flirting with you and you were so dumbstruck that you stood still like a statue while your face was as red and hot as burning coal." This time it was Jules time to blush and be silent while Alex laughed uncontrollably, slamming her cup on the table and spilling some of her tea.
"At least I didn't try to steal someone's car despite not knowing how they worked." he replied back as Alex was still laughing. "You didn't stop me that time." the elder would only reply with. "I figured it was better to let you realize the error of that idea on your own." Alex was beginning to calm down. "Yeah, and by the time I did the cops got involved so we ran like hell out of there and they still chased after us."
Jules let out a chuckle. "I remember that cop very well. I felt sorry for hitting him with that old wooden sign when he rounded you on that dead end but I couldn't let him catch you." he turned his head to look at her. "But you didn't need to kick him in the testicles... nor his partner." Alex turns her head up. "His partner was trying to grab my butt and breasts, he got what was coming to him. I kicked the other cop because we needed more time to get away and kicking him in the dragon balls was the sure fire way of giving us that extra time." She stated, defending her past action.
Jules shrugged. “It’s in the past now, just like us stealing the junk that people stuff into their mouths they called food to survive.” Jules shook his head. “I will never understand how those people can stand eating that stuff.” Alex began to chuckle again. “You threw up when you ate that crazy looking hamburger that had doughnuts as the buns. But the chocolate bars were wonderful.” the witch let out a sigh of pleasure as she grabbed her cheeks as she closed her eyes. In her mind's eyes she was imagining the sugary treats and trying them out again.
“I was worried you were going to become addicted to that stuff and we would have to make you go through rehabilitation. Also when you ate that same burger I was afraid we were poisoned when you passed out.” The elder said while laughing while Alex gave him a pouting look. “It was just the idis. You could have done me a favor and prevented me from landing on a puddle.” the elder just kept laughing.
“I think the bed bugs making me their dinner back in that terrible hotel was enough of a payback for that.” Alex shivered when he mentioned the hotel. “Bloody hell, why do you have to remind me of that place? The bed bugs were terrible. But the walls being so thin that I could hear the mice humping inside, the leaking ceiling, and the fact that creep had cameras and microphones in the room so he could spy on us just made everything worse. I don’t regret cursing that bastard.” she declared as she poured more tea and drank it.
“Not that I’m defending his actions, because he deserved it. But cursing him to have erectile dysfunction is a bit much don’t you think? The irritable bowel syndrome I think was enough.” Alex huffed up and turned her nose up. “I think I let him off too easily. I should have shriveled up his right hand and made him blind in one eye as well while making him bald much earlier.” she would say as she began to drink her tea.
Jules began to rub his scalp. “You mean like what you did with me back in our brewing courses.” the witch looked at him with surprise. “I said I was sorry about Jules. I thought I had the right ingredients for that potion back then.” he would wave his hand. “And I forgave you for that.” he told her as he moved his cup forward for refill which Alex did.
“While I love to reminisce about the past we have gone wildly out of the topic I wish to bring up.” Jules saw Alex frown. “It was just the usual meeting Jules. What to do with this year’s harvest? What should we produce in our workshops? What sort of event should we hold for whatever festival is coming up?” she would grab her cup and drink from it. “I think the elders can come up with those decisions without my presence. They don’t really need me for those sorts of things.” she told him.
The elder would take a sip from his drink before speaking. “Besides the fact that it is tradition for the grand master to be appointed in such meetings, we also have noticed that ever since you have received those visions from the spirits back in Glacia’s temple you have become more distant as of late.” The elder would explain.
“I was the first to notice it but the others soon noticed the change as well. Even some of the children who you would watch over in their training can tell something is wrong Ashwood.” Alex looked down as she began to nurse from the cup slowly.
“Before I was willing to wait for you to explain what you saw from that vision but it’s obvious that whatever those spirits shared to you has affected you severely since you aren’t performing your duties as well.” he explained. While he was being stern in his demeanor and tone of voice Alex can tell that Jules was very concerned for her on the inside.
“But don't we have more time to spend together as old friends? Not just work colleagues? I’ve done the same with the others and even acted as an aunt for the younglings. I even decided to spend more time with my girls who before I was so busy to barely spend time with them. For Kai sake Jules, I was in another dimension when Nymphaea went off into outer space to fight in some galactic civil war!” Alex shouted as she slammed both the cup and her hand on the table.
She looked down at the cup to see her reflection from the tea. “I just want to enjoy my life while I can Jules.” the elder arched a brow at the statement that he heard from Alex. “What do you mean by that Ashwood?” Alex would refuse to look at Jules as she stared into her reflection.
“Jules.” she would look up at him. The elder can sense great turmoil and pain swirling within her as he looks at her eyes. Before she can speak she and Jules would hear something running down the halls. The two would turn over to see Pesu coming from across the hall holding a massive slab of meat on its hands. As the shark began to run towards them they would see Nymphaea come from around the corner after the shark.
“Come back Pesu! You shouldn’t be stealing people’s food!” she shouted after the shark pounced to catch Pesu but the shark leapt away from the witch, slapping her with his tail. As the shark landed on the ground it would run into Alex who would be grabbed by the grand mistress. The shark would try to struggle to break free from her hold but she refused to yield.
Alex would see a portal open up and Elizabeth stepping out. “Sorry for the trouble mother. We were walking Pesu around the city and he smelled someone cooking a steak outside and well…” she looked at the shark as it stopped struggling to begin eating the steak. “The rest is history. Nymphy wanted to make Pesu return back the steak but I don’t think anyone would want it back. I’m not sure we ever gave Pesu his shots now that I think of it.” When the mention of shots was heard the shark stopped eating to look at Elizabeth with fear.
Now hugging the shark as she was patting Pesu on the back the shark would begin to feel comfortable to eat again. “So long as no one was hurt then we can just chalk this up as a mistake.” she turned to Nymphy who had a red, tail, shape mark on her cheek thanks to Pesu. As Alex reached over and touched her cheek the Saiyaness could feel her mother healing the mark on her face. “But do put a leash on him next time you take him out for walks so we don’t have a repeat of this.” she told her as she rubbed Nymphaea’s head. The shark would let out a growl once Alex stopped rubbing his back which made her return to rubbing his back, making Pesu happy.
Jules can sense that right now Alex would not tell him what is wrong with her daughters around. “Just promise me that tomorrow you will attend the next meeting. We are going to have a guest from the Wandering Sea visit us.” Alex nodded. “I will be there for that. It’s rare for those isolationists to leave their island. I’m curious why they want to see us personally.”
The elder would get up. “I will have things arranged for our guests. You three can have the rest of the tea for yourselves.” he told them as he began to walk away as Nymphaea began to pour in tea for her cup while Elizabeth leaned her back against the wall with her arms folded in front of her chest.
“The Wandering Sea coming to us is peculiar. I sense something off with this meeting.” Elizabeth stated as Nymphaea gave her sister a dismissive look. “You’re always paranoid when it comes to the other group's sis. We haven’t had conflicts with those guys for a long time. I think everyone has finally settled down and grown comfortable with their lot in life.” Nymphaea told her as she drank her tea.
“Only because we all are sitting on nexus points and no one wants to lose those. We may not be fighting to the death but there is still a cold war little sister.” the witch explained. Alex would put down Pesu as the shark walked to the wall and lie down as it continued to chop down on its steak. “A cold war that is thawing. Face it, things are no longer as they use to be back in the Mythic Age or the Warring States. It took everyone years to realize it but mystic arts are not as wide spread or potent as they used to be. We all realize that in order for the knowledge and traditions of the mystic arts to survive there must be peace among the desperate powers. It’s only with that can we ensure conuntity of magecraft for future generations.”
Alex looked up at Elizabeth. “You shouldn’t let your doubt cloud your judgement Elizabeth. It’s alright to be suspicious, especially in our world. But never let that suspicion affect your raitional. Sometimes people aren’t planning something against you.” Elizabeth was silent as she mull over her mother’s words. “I’m still gonna keep an eye on the stormseers. I don’t want them to do anything funny while they are staying in here.”
Alex sighed. “Fine. But don’t scare them too much please? I want to give them a good impression on us.” Elizabeth blinked. “When did I ever scare people?” Alex and Nymphaea both looked at the witch with blank looks. “The time you gave Elder Crowley a box containing imps and they wreaked havoc on the Fallen Temple.” Alex said. “Or the time you arranged stuff on that rich couples house to make them think they were living in a haunted manor.” Nymphaea replied in turn.
“Or the time you scarred your sister with that prank where it looked as though someone murdered you.” Nymphaea looked down. “I had nightmares for a week after that one.” Elizabeth would scratch the back of her head sheepishly. “Okay, some maybe I go a bit too far with my pranks.” Nymphaea glared at her older sister. “A bit?” she replied back. “Okay, I will try not to do anything besides watching them. I will only act if I see them doing something fishy. Deal?” the two witches all agreed with nods.
“Now that we have that out of the way let’s all enjoy some nice jasmine tea. I think the fey moths will be coming here soon.” Alex would pour a cup of tea for Elizabeth as she sat down with her mother and sister to wait for the arrival of the moths.
Planet AZ-051B
One and a half years after Fuar's defeat
Blow thrown after blow, Ikki and the mysterious creature clashed upon the surface of the unnamed planet, flashing across the air and the ground every time they stopped to strike one another. Having recovered from the initial surprise, the Saiyan quickly got the upper hand. Whoever, or whatever, this thing was, they clearly relied upon their raw strength more than skill - and that raw strength certainly was vast, but when facing off against an opponent of a similar caliber, all the violent, animalistic jabs and grapples proved to be little of use. Every time the creature sent an attack, Ikki would find a way to counter it despite its speed and power - be it by dodging, parrying or simply swatting them aside.
Having caught two of the creature's punches at the same time, Ikki suddenly spun in place to send a kick straight across its face, slamming it into the ground and sending it rolling across the earth for several dozen meters. No better moment to take a respite, catch his breath...
Wait, what? shot through the Saiyan's thoughts as he tracked the creature rising from the gravel with his eyes, watching its every move. But we've only fought for a few minutes... Fuar took a lot more effort than this and that didn't drain me so hard either. The creature did not seem exhausted at all, on the other hand - and Ikki soon learned why. It stood up, with a grin on its face, and squeezed its fists with a puffed chest in a stance not too dissimilar from one which martial artists take when drawing power - except, instead of an aura, cracks of energy began to run across the creature's body, all drawing from the Dragon Ball embedded in the chest, forcing the item to release an ever so slight glow.
Just the sight told Ikki everything he needed to know about why the ball was in that body. Not that it seemed like an easy process. Muscles were bulging, veins and arteries inflating to the point where they were about to pop, all of it giving a rather eerie flashback of the abhorrent state Glacia had been left in when he donned the Regalia.
Gritting his teeth, the Saiyan lunged forward - but in such a brief matter of time, the tide between the two opponents had already turned. Now the creature held the upper hand, sending blows faster and stronger than Ikki could even register - its tail smacked across his face and its right fist slammed him straight into the ground, burrowing through the earth before they finally dropped down into the tunnels below. Panicking colonists fled from their hiding holes and ran as fast as they could, all while both opponents continued throwing strikes at one another to little avail. Their elbows suddenly rammed against one another, releasing a shockwave and blowing both of them back. Ikki slid across the floor on his feet and came to a swift halt, the creature dragged its claws across its path to kill it momentum.
For once, neither side lunged at the other, merely eyeing each other down and watching their opponent's move.
"You're different from the others," the creature muttered with a grin, slowly strolling around Ikki in a circle, getting the Saiyan to make his move as well - the two warriors slowly paced across the empty tunnel, staring at one another. "Any other Star Sheriff I found would be lying on the ground unable to move by now. But you... you just need to take a few more breaths per minute."
Ikki narrowed his eyes, listening intently to the explanation, then suddenly stopped and replied:
"Energy."
"Hm?"
"My energy. Ki, or Kita Force as I call it. Your powers are able to do something with it."
The creature cracked a smirk. "Well, it's how I feed, so I suppose you're right."
"Feed?.."
With a hiss, it suddenly lunged forward, attacking the unprepared Ikki relentlessly. Slash, tail strike, full force blow, all coming one after the other without a moment of respite. "Can you feel it?! Your life force draining as you speak?!" Grunting, Ikki pushed himself past a yet another tail swing and grabbed both of the creature's wrists, locking them both in a physical struggle - and yet, it did not shut the creature down at all. "Every time you and me touch, more of your energy is siphoned into my body. You will eventually shrivel, and die..."
Ikki slammed his forehead straight into his opponent's nose, cracking it and forcing the creature back with a pained grunt - and yet, a few weaker giggles still came out afterwards.
"And the nature of my inherent siphon... it suppresses any energy you emit outwards and directs it towards me. As long as we're close, you have no power signature. Nobody will detect you, or find you, or save you. Crushing, I know - but it's nothing personal..."
So that's what happened to all the other Star Sheriffs...
It was the creature's turn to charge at Ikki - and once again, the two combatants found themselves locked in a stalemate, the Saiyan desperately pushing back both of the incoming blows by their wrists.
"How is... murdering me not personal?!" Ikki yelled and spun in the air while holding onto his opponent's arms, slamming a knee straight into its jaw and forcing it back. The creature made sure to respond with a yet another tail slap, more ferocious than before, slashing across Ikki's face and finally drawing a small trail of blood. The battlefield around them flashed, dozens of the same hooded figures from before appeared from thin air, surrounding the Saiyan from every direction, circling around him and drawing their phantom weapons. From up close, the nothingness inside their hoods was easy to spot. There was never anything inside them to begin with, just illusions to attract Sheriffs with...
Ikki let out a pained grunt, collapsing onto one knee and taking a breath through clenched teeth. Drowsiness was starting to set in, his muscles begged for him to stop and take a rest, his mind had to force them to move, much less continue fighting...
I've got a way how to recover it, for only once - and surpass him too... Not sure if that's gonna help in of itself, though. If he drains energy, then putting out more energy makes about as much sense as putting out a fire with gasoline...
"I think I've figured it out..." the Saiyan gushed out after he figured that the creature was not going to reply to his yell. "You are not a warlord, you run no clique... you run a trap. Pretending to run an army, you attract Sheriffs like me, from whom you can feed. You probably don't even want to pillage and raid settlements, you just do it to make us notice you..."
"You got it right in the bullseye," the creature suddenly replied, in a calmer, more content voice. "That's why this is nothing personal. I move, motivated by hunger, and can only feed from people like you. I don't want to destroy your organization, or to target you specifically because you belong to it. But you are my way of not starving to death."
Wait...
"...If so, then I have two questions, not one."
An ever so slight ray of hope reached Ikki's mind.
"Questions?"
"What do you need that... ball in your chest for?" Ikki suddenly brought up. He could already tell that it was a some sort of power source, but... that didn't line up for ki being this creature's only source of nourishment. It tilted its face in confusion slightly.
"And the other one?" the creature asked.
"Your name."
"I figured. Truth be told, I've never really had one - not one which isn't just a number, anyway. If I had to choose, though... I don't know, I'd pick something short and cool, maybe even a hint towards what I am, an obscure one of course. Say, Zero. Zero sounds fun."
Cracking a grin at his clever solution, Zero then slammed down his spear to the floor, his free hand tapping onto the Dragon Ball embedded in his chest. "I've never quite figured out what this thing is - but whatever it is, it's able to feed me. Partially. I wasn't made for the energy it's putting out, it burns just to touch it. It can keep me alive, but it can't be the only thing I eat, else I won't last long..." Suddenly, the creature spun his weapon in his hand, all of his summoned illusions getting ready to strike as well. "Fortunately, with how much of it I'll gain from you, I won't be able to worry about it for months."
Perfect... thoughts began flying across Ikki's mind. That means I've still got a plan.
"If you'll gain it," Ikki yelled out, suddenly releasing all of his suppressed energy at once, the power manifesting in the form of a fiery white aura. This part's going to require some psychological warfare, but having seen how Zero has acted so far, Ikki figured that he had a chance of goating the creature into doing what he wanted. "You forgot to account for that. I'm still here, I've still got fight left in me, and I've got all I need to destroy you."
In response, Zero cracked a smile. "You're certainly confident for someone who can barely stay awake."
The clash between the two warriors renewed - dozens of illusions charged Ikki at once, only to get suddenly blown away by a burst of energy from the Saiyan's body as he charged into the fray. His punch collided with Zero's face and sent him tumbling backwards, but the subsequent descending blow got blocked by the creature's spear. A few more strikes and spear deflections later, Zero struck back with a wide tail swing, forcing Ikki to grab onto the appendage and get thrown aside.
Ikki landed with a slide and propelled himself forward with an energy blast, the sudden acceleration catching his opponent unawares - he paid for it dearly, with a painful knee slam to his gut. Then, a full force slam to the floor, cracking the ground and pushing Zero through a few meters of rock. From the slam, a cloud of dust whipped up, covering the tunnel.
Come on... do it already... I won't hold out for long...
Suddenly, Zero reemerged, leaping behind Ikki while he was still floating in the air - the Saiyan was forced to power through his ensuing drowsiness and block an incoming spear slash. Once again locked in a physical struggle, he responded immediately, gathering a blast of energy in his hand and slamming it straight into Zero's face. The explosion rolled across the whole underground network, consuming the creature and everything around it, while shaking the rest of the network and sending clouds of dust.
Ikki just... wanted to fall. And sleep. For a good twenty hours. But he knew he couldn't, not yet anyway.
"Well then..." a voice came from within the debris. "I did say that you're far more tenacious than the rest..." The dust began to clear, revealing the creature standing upright, with a few burns and scars across its body, with a not so happy expression on its face anymore. Suddenly, Zero clenched his fists, allowing the energy from the Dragon Ball to seep into his body once again. And once again, followed by the grotesque sight of his body bulging from the searing pressure of the artifact's energy.
Yes!
If the energy it drains from the Dragon Ball works in any way like the Regalia and its effects on Glacia... then at this moment, when he's drawing onto that energy, is when Zero's at the weakest. All those veins and muscles are not bulging for no reason, after all. They're begging for a chance to pop. And if that's what Ikki was going to be betting on to save his life... then he's got only once chance to make it work.
The Saiyan weakly landed on the ground, clutching onto his chest and stumbling forward - then, overtaken by a powerful golden aura, he lunged forward, speeding across the battlefield at speeds faster than Zero could even track. In a moment's flash, the freshly ascended Ikki appeared in front of the creature and threw a punch - straight at the Dragon Ball.
"GAH!"
All of Zero's veins and muscles immediately burst, overflowing.
Present, Unknown Location
The room was gothic in design with a vault of columns arranged intricately to form an arched rooftop. Stain glass windows decorated the walls at even lengths, allowing radiant light to pour through them, the only caveat being that once the light passed through the translucent surface and iridescent cascade of colours seeped through and reflected off the cosmati pavement. Upon viewing the first thing one would notice is the distinct lack of furniture, just a large untenanted space, and just as there was no furniture there were no doors leading in and out of the room either.
When Alex first opened her eyes the light of the room nipped at her forcing her eyelids too. For a moment or two she held them shut until she worked up the courage to blink them open again. She was met with a cloud of gloss, unable to truly piece together the room around her, she moved a hand to tip at her face but was met with resistance. In response she switched to her less dominant hand and found that she was met with equal resistance there.
Alex’ lolled back, chain raised and blurred eyes blinking rapidly to focus, as an indistinguishable form slowly stepped towards her. It’s footsteps echoing to a rhythmic beat that seemed too coordinated to be nature. It wasn’t until it had nearly closed the distance that she could make out what was coming her way.
It was in fact a male, with short and slicked back silvery locks, broad shoulders and a neutral gaze that left nothing to dissect in terms of intention. He stopped a few metres away from her, both of his hands coming to rest just above his waistline, his chin lowered as and his eyes boring into her as though he was looking past skin and organs right into the soul.
“Ashwood,” the stranger says, the first words exchanged and the first sound made other than that of the man’s footsteps. Alex looked at the stranger as he peered down at her, she let out a growl as she eyed the stranger from his face to his torso. “A bad boy angel ehh? This day took an interesting turn. I see you aren’t afraid of “punishing” bad little witches.” the witch purred. “You know, some folks would pay top dollar for this kind of service. Maybe you can change your business to this instead of attacking people.”
Alex’s eyes narrowed as she gave him a smirk. “I can be your first customer if you want?’ she would batter her eyelashes.
If Alex thought she might get a negative reaction out of the angel she was sorely mistaken. Instead of turning his nose at her, he chuckled and closed the gap between himself and the witch, who remained suspended some couple of feet in the air above him.
“Are all witches as repugnant as you are,” He inquired, knowing of mortal magic users and the tales about them, and seeing them in person were quite the parallel. They were even weaker than imagined. “ Or is that simply an Ashwood thing?”
Regardless of her answer he shouldn’t linger too long, he had places to be, and a certain someone to find. “My business goes far beyond dominating you mortals,” He had very little interest in that if he were to be completely honest. Belenus knows what a headache such a thing would be for anyone. “I was looking for you specifically, you’re a piece of a puzzle that I'm determined to complete.”
Alex would return the absence of a negative reaction as she simply replied with. “It’s neither. That is just me not giving a single heck about what others think and just enjoying life regardless of whatever situation I’m in.” she told him as she gave him a big smile. True to her words she is finding a way to find some amusement in her current predicament. The first thing she thought was annoying her captor just to make him lose the will to interact with her so she can be left alone to find a way to break free.
When the angel revealed that he was looking for her specifically her smile would drop as she gave him a serious look. “If you were looking for me specifically then surely you could have done something else to get my attention? Maybe offer me a lifetime supply of snicker bars and trap me in a box like a hare. You breaking into my home and wrecking everything on sight like a bunch of drunken college students was uncall for. Unless you are venting your frustration over some daddy issues you have.”
“Enough of the theatrics Alexandra,” Raguel snapped his fingers and another set of chains descended from above to wrap around the witch’s mouth, keeping her jaw locked and her mouth closed for a moment. “Let the grown up finish speaking first, and then you can chime in with your teenaged remarks.”
“Now,” He took off from the ground so that he could hover in the air, eyes levelled with the Master of the Order. “It would be courteous of me to give you the chance to willingly tell me what I want to know.” He reached out and pressed his thumb against the witch’s forehead. “But I would rather not over complicate things. Tell me, do you know of Princess Artemis?” The question was rhetorical in nature, of course, he knew she was aware of the princess, he just needed Alex to open her thoughts in regards to Artemis for easy memory pillaging. His thumb pressed firmly against her skull and both their eyes would glow as Raguel forced his way into her mind with ease, making sure to make it a particularly painful experience as he did.
Alex's screams were muffled as her eyes were shot wide as she began to thrash around against her chains, causing them to shake and hit against each other as she tried to break free. Alex felt as though someone was sticking an ice pick into her head and was scraping against everything the pike was cutting through. Yet despite the pain, she fought desperately to board up mental defences to keep him from seeing parts of her memory she knew would only bring ruin if Raguel saw. Those being memories of Artemis and of the visions she saw from the Sephirah.
Present, Northern Palace, Kingdom of Earth
The Northern Palace was the smallest of the four cardinal homes of the Earth Royals. But unlike its sister palaces, the Northern Palace hadn’t been constructed until after the Unification of the Earth. Built to match the native Celtic architecture, the palace acts more like a museum and tourist attraction rather than a proper home for the royals.
It houses much of the ancient and magical artefacts from the old Kingdom within its walls, and it is said that the ghost of Princess Beryl, daughter to the late Queen Metallia, roams the halls at night, having at some point made her long trip from her ancestral burial grounds to the palace to be amongst the items of her childhood. Of course, most agree that this tale was just a marketing strategy put forth to draw in more tourists during the down seasons that has simply stuck around.
While the palace was accustomed to bodies, those that inhabited it today were not tourists but the surviving mages of the order, given refuge and freedom to explore and take up residence within the palace. The magical items on display were left untouched, as were many of the objects were priceless and had purposes that boggled even Jules, so by Serena’s request they could not be interacted with, but other than that there was free reign.
Speaking of the Young Queen, she waited outside a room, converted in a healing centre specifically for Elizabeth, alongside Spicer and Nymph. Other mages found themselves equally pushed back when attempting to heal the witch with even more severe consequences, so it was decided that the demoness would be given potions and medicinal herbs to help recover instead. Whoever attacked Elizabeth had been determined to keep her from recovering, but they underestimated the ingenuity and determination of humans. Elizabeth was still unconscious but she was getting better.
While it had been two days since they’d escaped to North City, the chaos of the outside world made it felt even longer. But the public support was still rather high, and with Serena, Nymph and Spicer taking turns to go out and defend the North on occasion it was clear that they weren’t just sitting on their bums. Still, they had little information to work with and time seemed to have become of the essence, they needed Elizabeth now more than ever.
Especially with all this talk about Ragnarok, Serena thought. She had never even heard of such a thing and neither did Nymph. But when Jules was asked about it, all he did was become pale in the face and begged them to not talk about it amongst the other magi folk. The mere concept seemed to have left him shook so Serena and Nymph chose not to push the issue on him too much. But if Elizabeth didn’t wake up anything soon they might…
Serena glanced over to Nymph, the Saiyaness had been doing rather well, all things considered, of course she was naturally bubbly so it wasn’t impossible to assume that she was putting up a front… she just hoped and prayed that Elizabeth would awaken and Alex would be fine. Serena knew what it was like to lose family and she didn’t want Nymph to go through that kind of pain.
She opened her mouth to say something, anything, to get a conversation started. Then the door to the bedroom opened and Jules stepped out looking relieved and more alive than he had been since the dawn of the destruction of Airceltrai.
Nymphaea would get up from the floor, dropping the piece of candy she was using to play with Squiggly as the slime monster caught it and began to eat the piece of sweet, wrapper and all. Nymphaea would take a few steps forward. “How is my sister? Is she alright Jules?” the elder would turn to face her and give the witch a smile. “Yes. We’ve managed to stabilize her condition. She hasn’t fully recovered yet but Ashwood is now awake. You all can see her now.”
Spicer looked over at the two women and back at Jules.
“Thank you, Elder,” he said politely, waiting around for Nymph to go in first.
She should be the first to see her, after all the Saiyan thought as he crossed his arms and looked over at a painting of Metallia, the last independent queen of the North. Since their extraction to the Northern Capital, Spicer had, aside from his watches against the angels, made sure he kept in contact with the wider garrison.
The attack on the Southern Capital was beyond anything we’ve seen, save for the attack on Airceltria. If General Arashi and Captain Urameshi hadn’t been there, and General Fawkes’ sudden return, then it could have been a disaster...
The Saiyaness would give him a quick thanks that he could barely hear due to how fast she uttered her words as she quickly went through the door, pushing them with enough force that it was a miracle that she didn’t break the doors off their hinges.
The witch barely paid attention to anything in the room saved for the lying figure covered by a dark purple blanket. Elizabeth looked exhausted as she gazed on the ceiling, dark bags surrounding her eyes. The witch was covered from the neck down with the blanket as her old attire was removed due to it being drenched in blood and covered in soot and numerous cuts. The old thing was discarded once it was cut off her body. As such, she was wearing nothing at all behind the covers. A necessary procedure in order to heal her of all of her injuries… well, most of them. The only thing left from her attire was the mandala necklace which showed a closed eye at the centre.
The older witch looked to be dazed as she didn’t react to Nymphaea’s presence even when she stood by her side. “Hey, Lizzy? Are you feeling better?” the younger witch asked. She knew that perhaps that was a terrible question to ask but she wasn’t sure what to say to her. Her sister seemed to be lost in her own world as she was ignoring everyone.
“Jules said that you want to talk with us? Do you want us to maybe save it for later when you’re feeling be..” the witch would be interrupted when Elizabeth spoke so suddenly. “I failed again.” The statement surprised the witch as she leaned over her sister. “What do you mean you failed again?” she asked as she placed her hand on Elizabeth’s forehead, feeling that she was incredibly warm.
“I was supposed to protect everyone in the city and on the planet. But not only did some space lizard easily defeat me but an angel did the same as well. No, not an angel, I lost to two angels.” Elizabeth would turn around to face her back to the group. The blanket came down to show half of the stab wound that Gebel left as it was burned onto her flesh. Nymphaea covered her mouth as she gasped at the sight of the ugly wound. “I lost our mother as well, to that Rageul bastard.”
“ He took her right in front of me, and I was too weak to save her. Not to mention the others that who actually lost their lives back in Airceltria.” the older witch would move her legs up and her arms down so she was in the fetal position. “I swear once I’m healed I will get my revenge on those bastards.”
Nymphaea knew that revenge wasn’t in the way of the Order but she didn’t say anything. Right now her sister was feeling terrible about everything that has happened and she needed to vent. “We will save mom sis. But we need your help. Titania and Oberon both mentioned something about Rangnork and we don’t know what that is.” Nymphaea told her.
“We’ve tried to speak to Jules but he would refuse to say anything. Even the other Elders like Blavatsky and Crowley won’t tell us what that is and how it is connected to the angels. We need your help.” the mage pleaded as she sat down on the bed.
Elizabeth was silent as she remained motionless on her spot on the bed. “What made them say Ragnarok?” Elizabeth finally said. “They said that Serena will bring it,” Nymphaea told her. The older witch would begin to move around, turning to face the group. “They have every right to worry about that. She nearly destroyed this realm before when you were fighting off in that space war.”
Nymphaea frown. She heard about that incident but she still found it hard to believe that Serena could have power as destructive as that living inside of her. “So the faeries were trying to destroy that power before the angels could get it?”
She would see Elizabeth getting up so she would be sitting on the bed, the blanket falling off to expose the upper half of her naked body as she had her right leg raised as she warped one arm around it. “They either wished to deny the angels of that devastating power or take it for themselves. Probably seal it away and use it as a deterrence should the other powers try to invade their realm.”
Elizabeth would look over to Serena. “The power you have, princess. Is a game-changer. The Cosmic Entities in Yggdrasil have been in a Cold War for quite some time. Right now they are stuck in a stalemate that has lasted far longer than your kingdom has existed in this world. For many beings in there they fear that should the Cold War ever turn hot it would spell doom for not only the Cosmic Nimbus but for our realm as well and possibly other realms close to it like Maikai. That is what Ragnork is.”
Spicer put his hands up after a few moments of silence.
“So how does this Raguel figure Titania mentioned figure in? He’s trying to stop it, but couldn’t he come down and have a nice spot of tea with Serena, instead of trying to kill her?” The Saiyan general barely contained his anger at the sound of the whole operation.
“Trying to talk with a human is like trying to make use of diplomacy on ants. For most angels, we are either insects or vermin. They are willing to tolerate us worshipping them because it benefits them slightly, but most either don’t care about us or they despise us.” she put both her hands behind her as she leaned back, putting her raised leg down. “The fact that people pray to them and nothing happens should have been a big clue that most don’t care for us but most people are desperate to place their faith in some higher power they think can protect them.”
“Then maybe he should just come down here and I’ll give him a piece of my mind, then,” Spicer growled. “If that bastard even thinks about touching Serena…” Spicer stopped and looked away from the witches as his face grew red.
“If he did then he would take Serena and while the janitors would be busy cleaning up the bloody mess that was you.” Elizabeth bluntly stated. The witch would see Spicer’s reaction and blink in confusion. “What’s the matter Spicey Boi?” the witch teased as she raised the blanket up to cover herself. “I forgot that you people act funny when it comes to stuff like this. Sorry,” she told him.
She would use her other hand to touch the wound on her stomach and hiss in pain as she can feel the angelic magic still inside her burn. “Damn it. Bloody Enochian magic. That bastard knew I would be vulnerable to that.” she cursed. “I don’t know how well it would affect you guys but be careful with that angel. I’m not sure how powerful he truly is but I suggest you treat fighting him like he was Fuar reborn.”
Nymphaea would gulp as she was reminded of the sheer might Fuar had when she saw the frost demon in person. “If he is like Fuar then I wish we still had Ikki around. He might have given us a chance to fight against him.” the witch looked gloom as she was reminded of her fallen comrade.
Elizabeth, on the other hand, was thinking back to the dream she had; the one where she met Ikki on the Astral Sea. She thought about whether she should tell them or not? But that was only for a brief moment, she instead shook her head and stayed silent.
Even if I told them about my dream the fact that I don't know where he is will make it impossible for us to find him. Besides, Fuar was still a Ki fighter despite his god-like powers. I don’t think Ikki’s golden powers will help him against ancient magic.
Serena was silent as she listened in to the conversation, now all that talk about the end of the world was starting to make sense to her. She clutched her chest absentmindedly, this newfound power that laid dormant within her seemed more like a curse the more time that passed. To think that she could bring about the end to not just the Cosmic Nimbus but the mortal realm and dimensions adjacent to it, almost made her knees weak. “What does Rageul want with Alex?” She mumbled, mostly to herself, but loud enough for everyone in the room to hear.
She fell silent again for a moment or two carefully considering their options. From the corner of her eyes she watched Spicer fidget about, and wondered if he could be convinced to hold down the fort if she and Nymph had to head out, Serena focused her attention back to the bed stricken witch. “ Rageul has your mother does he not?” She began a rhetorical question, but one made to strengthen the resolve of those in the room. They could not afford to wait for him to come to them for that reason alone. “ Do we know where he is?”
Elizabeth would begin to scratch the back of her head as she looked up. “My best guess is that he is in Paradiso, the home realm of the angels.” she would look down at Serena as she grabbed on to the blanket. “As for why he grabbed my mother? I suspect he wants her because she might know something that I don’t know that he would want. Grand Masters of the Order are privy to information that even us Elders are unaware of.”
“How does one get to Paradiso?” Spicer suddenly asked as he turned back to the witch, his eyes laced with the vestiges of a Saiyan’s bloodlust.
Serena jumped in then. “ Astral projection is the most common method. The average mage cannot enter the nimbus with their physical forms in tack…” She trailed off remembering vaguely the events that lead to Alex, Elizabeth and herself entering the Feywilds with their mortal forms. “ There are loopholes…but we can’t just go guns blazing into unknown territory.” She wasn’t even certain how she’d done it before, the voice played a role, but it had been startlingly quiet since they went to the Heights. She didn’t even know if she could summon a portal back to Central City with how wonky magic had become since that rift was opened up in the ruins of the order, let alone across dimensions.
Spicer grew quiet again as he heard the queen speak, the small box he carried in his pocket feeling astronomically heavy at the moment, and the Saiyan’s mouth felt bone dry.
Serena was the first person the angels targeted, he waxed. And the voice alerted Serena to the Order as soon as they were attacked after Alexandra was captured. Could this just be a trap to lure her in? A cold shiver rippled through Spicer’s frame at the thought.
As the two converse about how to enter Paradiso and why Raguel would take Alex, none saw Nymphaea who was now quiet. The Saiyaness' hand began to shake as she could feel boiling lava flow through her veins. “Then we will kidnap an angel and force them to spill the beans on everything we want about their home realm.” Elizabeth was startled to hear Nymphaea speak in a harsh tone. When she looked at the Saiyaness she saw the young witch baring her teeth in a bestial snare, bloodlust and rage blazing in her eyes.
“Capturing one isn’t going to be easy, sister. You and Spicer had a hard time fighting against the regular infantry. What makes you think we can capture one alive?” Elizabeth questioned. Nymphaea’s heated glare would turn to Elizabeth, the sight of it bringing a chill down the cambion’s spine. Seeing such hatred from Nymphaea was wrong to her.
“We don’t need to fight one. We can summon one with our magic and trap it into a fetish. Once it’s imprisoned we can force it to speak in exchange for the possibility of its freedom.” Elizabeth opened her mother to speak but found no words would come out of her mouth.
“That idea might work. Assuming nothing won’t prevent us from summoning and binding an angel to our will we could do that. But we can’t just summon a foot soldier. We need an angel a bit higher on the rank. Someone in the middle because if we try to capture someone too high up we might risk them sending another invasion force to our location.”
Elizabeth would bring her hand to her chin as she began to rub it. “Though if we are planning on summoning things perhaps it would be wise to try and gain some allies from the other side as well?” she looked at Serena. “No offence princess, but your army sucks. They can’t fight their way out of a zombie epidemic. We need a real fighting force to stand a chance.”
The witch would suddenly get an idea and the more she thought about it the wider her grin got, her canines growing as her eyes began to glow red. “I have the perfect army we can use.” she began to cackle as a dark aura surrounds her.
“Hold on,” Serena raises her hands in a pacifying manner. “Liking the enthusiasm, but you” And she looks pointedly at Elizabeth. “ Are in no position to be summoning an army of the undead or those tentacle monster things, and while the idea of summoning an angel is a good one, I get the feeling that anyone of substance wouldn’t be picking up our call.” She lowered her hands then. “Just a hunch, but we couldn’t even teleport directly to Airceltrai. If they have the power to block us from doing that, they probably have the power to stop us from summoning them.”
Nymphaea snapped her fingers. “Darn, I really liked that one.” she would let out a sigh. “Looks like we have to do things the hard way. Elizabeth looked over at Serena as she blinked. “Zombies wouldn’t be useful blondy, and my many angled friends alone aren’t enough,” she explained. “Encase you forgot I’m technically a royal too. As a princess of Maikai, I can call upon a legion of my father’s army to my aid. Better yet, once my father hears about what happens he and his army will join us.”
Elizabeth would puff up her chest as she looked proud at the idea. Nymphaea would look unsure of the idea but choose not to point out one major flaw with her sister’s plan.
The talk between the three mages snapped Spicer out of his introspection.
“Serena,” he began as he unfolded his arms. “When you went to the Feywilds, and this most recent time with Airceltria, this Voice told you what to do. Why is it silent now?”
“I don’t-”
Elizabeth’s eyes would snap wide as she would point at Serena. “YOU SENT US THERE BEFORE! YOU CAN SURELY DO IT AGAIN!” She declared. “You just need to tap into whatever power is lurking into you and force it out. Maybe try to use a ritual to direct the energy in a controlled fashion. That is the reason why us mages use rituals in the first place.”
“I…I barely got us to the heights the last time I tried to teleport. For Kami’s sake, we could end up in the Shadowlands if this doesn’t go right.” And besides, what would they even do when they get there? Confront Raguel and ask him politely to hand over Alex and stop this Ragnorak nonsense? That would certainly go over well. “ I don’t know guys, we could barely handle the fees, and they were clearly not at full power. How are we gonna handle these guys on their home turf?”
Nymphaea got up from the bed and walked up to Serena. The Saiyaness would place her hands on her shoulder. “Listen to me Serena.. Serenity… Spaghetti. Whatever crazy names you royals give yourselves. I don’t claim to be an expert in magic since I only recently earned the title of Master. But I learned a long time ago that for us mages we can only use our powers because we possess a dedication that goes beyond most people. Our bodies may be weak when compared to Ki users but our mind and souls are strong. I know our chances now are terrible but remember that when it comes to us our strongest trait is our adaptability. We can figure out a way to rescue our mother from Raguel and stop Ragnorak without having to face Raguel in person.”
Nymphaea told Serena and then began to rub her head.
Serena’s lips pierced, glancing away and over to gauge how Elizabeth and, more rationally, Spicer would react to all of this.
“Taking the fight to them is a better plan than waiting for them to come to us,” Spicer added in agreement. “It might even take some pressure off of the Earth.” Elizabeth nodded. “He’s right. The attacks before Airceltria was just the vanguard of the true invasion. The angels were just testing us to see who was the strongest among us. That is most likely one of the reasons why they attacked us…” her eyes narrowed. “And most likely why the Witch Finder General was with them.” in her mind she thought of Gebel.
Nymphaea would punch the palm of her hand. “So it’s decided then? We take the fight into Yggdrasil! We can bring what’s left of the Order to help us out.” She boldly declared.
Elizabeth looks down at the bed. “I think not.” Nymphaea would look over to her sister. “There used to be 2,000 of us. I don’t know how many are still alive but we suffered greatly from that attack. I doubt most would want to enter Yggdrasil willingly.” she looked over at Nymphaea and Serena. “Besides, with a plan like this having fewer people involved is better. A small group would be harder to track and find. I suggest you two prepare yourselves with everything you will need because once you are at the other side you can only rely on your wits, tools, and skills to survive.”
She would lean back on the bed as she used her hands to support herself. “The rest of us will have to stay here and deal with the angels still on Earth. I will call upon Papa’s to lead me his army to further distract the angels so Raguel and Gebel will throw most of their forces at me and Wraith Squadron just so you two don’t have to worry about having entire armies of Seraphims and Cherubims on your asses.”
Nymphaea folded her arms in front of her chest. “I’m gonna need some new foci. My swords got destroyed and I lost my staff when we tried to get out of the city.” she raised her left arm. “I also want to pay Ridley a visit so he can upgrade my arm. I have a few ideas that might work for it.”
Serena was still hesitant about this whole endeavour, but seeing the fire in everyone eyes well… she couldn’t back try at the very least. “We’ll also need food and water, and a few other supplies.” Luckily she had some storage capsules which she could use to take care of that. “The voice played a major part in us getting teleporting the last time… I think. We’re gonna really have to bank that it’ll come to our aide a second time around.”
That said.. “We should probably try heading out by tomorrow, the longer we procrastinate the more time that gives to our enemies,” And the more likely Alex would’ve have passed either by Raguel’s hand or some other foe that they might not even be aware existed.
“Also Princess. Are we in the home of one of my ancestors? Because the magic feels familiar.” It was Nymphaea who chimed in. “Yep. We are in the castle of our many time's great grandmothers Beryl.” the older witch nodded. “So that is why I saw her spirit in my dream,” she said with recognition. Acting as though as having a visitation from the spirit of one's ancestor was normal. “Anyway. I talked with Beryl and I got her permission to use the items within this palace. She told me that it would be best to use some of the relics in here… especially her mother’s armour.” the witch asked.
Nymphaea looked surprised. “You mean Metallia’s armour? But the dark magic on that armour practically makes it a curse to most who try to wear it. How are you sure you’ll be the one to use it.” Elizabeth gave her sister a smirk. “I have two things that most people lack. I have Ashwood blood flowing in my veins and I’m half demon, dark magic makes up as much of my body as water and flesh.”
“You talked to…” Serena wasn’t sure how to process that information. “Well, if permission was granted then you can use any item inside. And feel free to use this place as the personal dwelling for all mages,” She had already closed off any and all tourist visitations to the palace. And being a bit of a drive outside of North City, she was certain that the witches would be comfortably removed but still with good enough distance to help out if something happened.
“I guess that’s everything? We’ll all reconvene tomorrow and Nymph and I can head off.”
“You, Lottus, and me, you mean,” Spicer said as he folded his arms across his chest.
Serena blinked and turned to the general. Shock evident on her face. “What?” She said breathlessly.
“You heard me. I am not going to let you two go off alone, magic enemies be damned.”
Elizabeth and Nymphaea both looked at Spicer blanky for a few seconds before the two of them burst out laughing. “Spicer… In Yggdrasil…” the two said as they kept on laughing. Elizabeth fell on to her back as she flailed her legs about while Nymphaea bent over and was holding on to the bed for support.
Serena glanced at the two laughing witches, then back to Spicer, looking uncertain on how to react. Because it was clear that he was serious, and she wasn’t cruel even to belittle him for thinking he could handle a situation like this, but it was… crazy if not preposterous for him to come with. “ Who's gonna take charge of the garrison while we’re gone?” She questioned, trying to go about this in a logical manner.
“Generals Arashi and Teikoku are more than capable,” he returned, “and with General Fawkes back on Earth, the garrison can handle itself.” Spicer side-ways glanced at the witches but kept his focus on the blonde queen.
“I…” She turned to Nymph, and sent a telepathic message to the still laughing witch. “Help me out here.”
“Elizabeth and Alex barely survived, and I know we’ve all grown so much more powerful. But we got curb stomped by Oberon when he was playing by our rules, imagine what would happen when we’re playing by there’s?”
Spicer looked at Serena’s blue eyes and he felt his own eyes shining back at her with equal intensity. He knew she was right--he was next to useless against their opponents and he would likely be a liability. But…
Should I tell her now? The weight in his pocket seemed to grow and he resisted the urge to touch the small box.
“I can’t argue with that,” the Saiyan conceded, “but I know that I have to go,” he said with finality and force.
Nymphaea would stop laughing when she heard Serena ask for help. “Spicer. I know you want to help Serena and show her and everyone on Earth that you can make a great guardian but this isn’t the right way to do it. Yggdrasil is nothing like you have seen. We don’t even know what would happen to non-awaken mortals who enter there physically. You might die the moment you step in there.” she warned him.
Spicer turned to Nymph and his eyes flashed for a moment, not unlike the time in the gravity room when he lost control sparring against the Saiyaness, but it lasted for nary a moment before his dark eyes resumed their usual tone.
“I know the risks, and I accept them. I am Her Majesty Empress Glacia’s representative on Earth, and as such it is my duty to serve Earth’s Sovereign to the best of my abilities, and sitting around as you put yourself in danger is not it.”
Nymphaea was scared slightly when she saw the look in his eyes, memories of the gravity room incident flashed in her mind’s eyes, but they quickly faded as his normal look returned and he explained why he must go.
“Let him sis.” Nymphaea looked down at Elizabeth who was now calm as she looked up at the ceiling. The eye at the center of her mandala necklace was open, revealing a green gemstone. “Spicer won’t be swayed so easily to leave. He may know next to squat about magic but he has the same dedication and will as we do. No force on this world or any other will force him to back away from this.”
Serena considered Elizabeth’s words, her head tilted slightly in that direction before snapping forward to focus on Spicer with a pensive look. “Alright, looks like you’re coming.” She relented. “But promise to stick close to either me or Nymph. Neither of us want you dead” Nymphaea nodded in agreement as she folded her arms in front of her. “And if you start to stray away I will pull you by the tail back to us.” she said in an authoritative manner, trying to channel the same tone her mother used whenever she and Lizzy misbehave.
Spicer relaxed his shoulders and uncrossed his arms as he nodded with a smile.
“I promise, Serena.”
The palace foyer had been cleared out, the once carpeted flooring left bare, it’s marble framing shimmering in the light that peered through unclosed windows. A giant magic circle was crafted in the centre and the remaining mage population from Airceltria stood around silently chanting.
Serena, garbed in a pink tracksuit and white sneakers, folded her arms looking rather uncomfortable still with this whole endeavour. She had been all kinds of messed up the last time she went into the magical realm and had come out a completely different and more powerful person. She did not know what a second adventure would do to herself or her companions.
She glanced over to the Saiyaness who communed with Elizabeth, the demoness standing just out of the boundaries of the portal, the two embraced and Serena’s heart swelled. Nymphae was more capable of handling herself, so Serena wasn’t as concerned. Her gaze shifted to Spicer who was busy sending out some final reports to the garrison. He was her biggest concern, more than capable against a ki user, but he’s proven time and time again that magic was out of his depth. Jumping head first into a whole magical realm? Suicide.
What is he thinking? She thought. What am I thinking? I shouldn’t be letting him go.
But Spicer was his own man, and she couldn’t imagine him standing down so easily. She would just have to resolve to put her best foot forward and do her best to protect both him and Nymph. And if she were to die in the process… well so be it.
“Almost ready, just waiting for Grand Mistress Elizabeth and Queen Serenity,” Serena heard one of the masters of the order announce. For one reason or the other a shutter runs through her spin then, the moment of truth.
Serena looked at her companions again, giving one look to Nymph. Then to Spicer who had just sent off the message and was looking toward her. “Anything to report on their end?” She’d ask him, trying to calm her nerves. She had never tried to call out to the voice before, it had always called out to her.
“All’s quiet on the front,” he informed Serena with a slight smile. “Apparently something interesting happened regarding one of the human captains in the PTO garrison, and General Fawkes is helping him train.”
“Interesting, didn’t even know he came back to Earth…” Serena muttered, having lost tabs on Ovan after he blasted off into space.
“Evidently he was chasing some mystic power source, according to General Arashi,” Spicer said with a shrug. “But he’s here to help.”
With the two witches they were still giving each other a hug. “Are you sure you can’t come with us sis? We can use your help in Yggdrasil.” Nymphaea asked as the two broke off the hug. Elizabeth would place her fingers on the mandala amulet she wore around her neck. “I wish I could Nymph. I want to get revenge badly but I can’t. I haven’t fully recovered from Raguel’s magic so I would only slow you three down.” she glanced at the other mages. “Also, with our mother gone I have to act as temporary Grand Master of the Order. I need to make sure what’s left of the Order is maintained and the Earth Front doesn’t collapse. Besides the demons won’t listen to anyone but me.”
Nymphaea would place her left hand on her hip. “Didn’t Serena say for you not to do that?” Elizabeth would wave her hand nonchalantly. “I can have some help with summoning those guys over. And like I told her, they are my dad’s legions. It would be easier summoning him and his army because their magic and mines are tied together.”
Elizabeth would grab the necklace and bring it off her neck. “But before you go I want you to carry this.” Nymphaea was surprised but she bowed slightly so her sister would have an easier time to place it around her neck. “This mandala is a powerful amulet. When the time is right it’s true power will reveal itself to you. You will know what to do once the time comes.”
Nymphaea would pull herself back and grab on to the mandala, looking down at it before she turned to look at her sister. “I promise I will bring back mom.” she would see Elizabeth give her a smile. “I know you will. You’re the one who never breaks her oath, you space fairy.” she teased but Nymphaea knew she was giving her a compliment.
“Hey Nymph!” Serena called. “Are you ready?”
Nymphaea and Elizabeth will look over to Serena. “I shouldn’t hold you up any longer. You two have your mission and I have mines. I wish you luck sis.” Nymphaea would turn to face her sister and give her another hug. “You too Elizabeth. Try your best on fighting off the angels and say hi to Nergal for me.” Elizabeth would return the hug as she let a smile form on her lips. “I will Nymphy.” she would let go of her sister as Nymphaea began to go to Serena, turning around to say her goodbyes and give Elizabeth a wave, which the older witch did. While she gave Nymphaea a smile she felt a pang of pain about letting her go off on another dangerous war alone again.
I swear to both you and mother. I will find a way to get stronger so I can protect the two of you. I won’t this war or any other future wars tear us apart.
When all three were standing in the centre of the portal. Serena connected her hands with both Spicer and Nymph. Her eyes closed, and she could hear Nymph chanting at her side, channeling magic into the portal below. And so did all the surviving mages looking to help them make that dimensional jump.
“Come on, come on, come on.” Serena muttered under her breath over and over again reaching out to that voice, hoping to all the gods that it would listen, then she began to chant alongside Nymph. Chanting and chanting, until her eyes abruptly glowed white, and the voice that spilled through was no longer Serena’s
“Valeo.”
The three within the circle would glow like stars before dispersing all at once. Zipping through the fabric of space and breaching into the boundaries of the Cosmic nimbus.
But when the dust cleared and their forms halted in their glow, it was not Paradiso that they found themselves within.
Ovan
It was a thankfully quiet few days after the initial attack and he managed to snag his two new recruits. Ovan wasted no time in showing Higu how to use the gravity and healings chambers, but he did have to take a more direct approach. Higu would improve in leaps and bounds over the next few weeks but he would have to take a more direct route with Arashi. Which mostly meant sparring and letting him use the chamber to heal up afterwards. There was no taking it easy on him, Arashi was a perfectly fine warrior, and he wasn't sure if or when the angels or whatever would return, and he wanted to make sure that the resistance they met was even tougher than what they met the first time.
Though, one person does not an army make. Even at full strength, he could only fight in one place at one time, and from what he read, the angels attacked all over the planet. He sensed several powers, a few of which he recognized. Well, it was only a few of them, but it was better than just him, Arashi and Higu. "Good news. I think some old allies are actually around. I'm going to go see if I can't get them more involved. Should be gone more than an hour or two, keep up the training and don't die. Those chambers can heal damn near anything, but they can't raise the dead." He explained and headed outside, shooting straight into the sky and then straight towards where he sensed the power levels actually worth talking about.
At his speed, it didn't take more than a few minutes to arrive. He landed carefully on the island as close as he could to the powers he sensed. "Hey, it's Ovan. Long time no see. Earth's being attacked. Came as soon as I heard. Helped out as much as I could. I'm currently training Arashi and a new guy." He explained quickly. "Making a force so that we can work together in case those angel things come back, you in?"
Collab with the Usual Suspects
Vanir: Niflheimr
An endless expanse of white surrounded the trio. Snow pelted their faces as their feet sank into thick, pillowy, mounds of snow. They saw tall mounds of snow forming hills as they saw bleached white tree women with candles on the ends of their branches. The women chanted in an unknown language in hushed whispers as towering, jagged, icicle spires loom over them. The dark sky bellowed out more snow and wind.
The group noticed that the mist surrounding them obscured much of their visibility, save for the candlelight from the dryads. Nymphaea channelled a ball of light to help illuminate the world but she found that the light of her orb didn’t travel far. For his part, Spicer looked around the winter wonderland with a sceptical gaze.
“This is Paradiso?” he asked, unsure of his own words. He was glad that he hadn’t spontaneously combusted, as Nymph warned, but that did little to assuage his doubts over their locale. “I was expecting something a little...warmer.”
Nymphaea smacked Spicer on the back of the head. “This isn’t Paradiso obviously. We messed up with the ritual and somehow ended up on Niflheimr, the sub-level to Vanir; the Realm of Elementals.” Nymphaea explained as she began to chant a few words and trace a few symbols around Spicer and Serena as the Saiyan general rubbed the back of his head.
The trio soon began to feel the cold becoming more tolerant, yet due to the blizzard, they still felt cold. “I guess I needed to learn the much stronger version of that spell. Sorry guys.”
“Paradiso or not,” Spicer muttered, “there’s no point standing around for the cold to claim us. Perhaps there’s a settlement we can reconnoitre.”
Serena shook her head as she rubbed her arms in a vain attempt to warm herself up. “ I’m thinking we should avoid population centres, Spicer.” If the fae reacted in the way that they did, there was no doubt in her mind that others in the nine realms would be just as unpleasant.
She took a few steps forward, audible squishing heard from each press of her sneakers into the snowy soil. Serena wished then that she had instead worn boots and a nice winter coat instead of tracks and sneakers, but given that she had been expecting to be in Paradiso right now and not in some winter wonderland the mishap could be forgiven.
“What are those creatures?” Serena muttered aloud, the chant of the trees almost adding an ominous tension to the air. She would move closer to one but stopped midway when a tiny light zipped around the branch and came at her like a bullet.
The Queen flinched, eyes closing instinctually, but when she did not feel the sting of something against her flesh she opened her eyes again and took in the sight of the little orb that danced in front of her. Blinking, the princess reached out to it, and as if sensing the Queen’s intention the light stilled long enough for Serena’s index finger to nudge it.
In a flash Serena finds herself within a massive city, being guided through various corridors and alleys until she stands before a beam of lightly guarded by a massive raven. The doorway to the rest of the nine realms a thought that was not her own came into being. Once more she is guided forward, entering the portal and being beamed up to it, witnesses from all sides of it every realm within the Cosmic Nimbus.
Then she was falling back, being dragged back through that portal, through the alleyways and corridors, down into a tunnel and out into an endless expanse of forest, moving almost too fast to recognise or memorise anything around her before she’s back to where she started.
Spicer and Nymph saw Serena slowly fall backwards, eyes closing shut as she descended towards the ground. The light hovering above her and following her down. Spicer moved quickly as he caught Serena before she hit the snowy ground.
“Serena, are you all right?” he exclaimed, a bit shaken up by her sudden reaction to the small blue orb.
Landing on her face the light was a spot of warmth that spread down every avenue of Serena’s body. Suddenly the Queen was jolted back into consciousness, her eyes as white and bright as the orb that had come to her, unresponsive she was to Spicer’s words but as the light moved away from her and began to flitter in the air Serena followed, moving out of Spicer’s arms and following it down a path leading away from the high point they had been transported too and down into the treacherous mountain pathways.
The Saiyan general stood there for a moment in shocked silence as he watched the queen float away. A sea of worry flooded over him.
Was it a mistake to come here after all? he wondered as he took off after her, calling her name to get some sort of reaction out of the sorceress.
Nymphaea stayed silent as everything happened. She didn’t know what to say or do as the orb of light seemingly knocked the queen unconscious. The Saiyaness watched as Serena woke up and they began to move forward, and Nymph conjured a mandala of energy and pointed it towards Serena. The various sigils on it changed repeatedly but by the end, she sighed as the spell did nothing. Either what has happened has come to pass and can no longer be traced or it was beyond her magic to register it. The Saiyaness watched the queen as she followed both her and Spicer from behind.
A Raven perched itself on the branch of a singing lady, its beady eyes honing in on the wandering forms of the trio as they moved in silence. After a moment or two, it flapped its wings and took to the skies.
Vanir (Niflheimr): Mountains
The mountains of Nilfheimr were the known residence of the ice giants. Robust and daunting creatures with the blood of frosts and skin of ice. Not the most intelligent of creatures, but more than making up for it with their tenacious spirit and hunger for battle and violence.
Luckily for the trio, Serena and in turn the light, led them not astray, but took them down winding open mountain passages, through caverns where the light could be seen on the other end and down further into the flatlands of Niflheimr. Not a single moment of interaction with the fabled residents of the land. But Spicer noticed as they reached the bottom finally, that the skies had noticeably darkened signalling the coming of dusk. A series of howls brought the first signs of life since they began their trek down the unbeaten path. They were too rapacious to be from any normal wolf. The light paused then and flickered out of existence, causing Serena to halt in her tracks.
For a moment she just stood there. The whites of her eyes slowly drained back to normal and her body swayed, but she did not crash to the ground, instead she reached up a hand to clutch at her forehead. After gathering her bearings she turned around to her companions.
“Are you back with us Serena?” Nymphaea asked. “I think something was riding your body there.”
“I’m here,” Serena affirmed, rubbing at her temples, still feeling disoriented from that little trip her body was put through. “More like it was guiding us to where we need to go next”
She glanced around and then up to the skies. When she looked back at the others she was already digging into her pockets for her capsules. “Travelling through the Nine Realms is more complicated than we thought, and seeing as we ended up in Vanir rather than Paradiso, we’re gonna have to put in a lot of effort to get back on track”
Spicer walked a little past the queen, looking up at the darkened and snowy skies of Vanir as the howls of the wolves echoed in the distance. He frowned and turned back to Serena, a little wearily as he regarded her.
“I understand the need to make up lost time,” he said with a nod, “but this is a foreign dimension and it’s getting darker by the minute. Whatever guided you here appears to have left, so I see no reason to continue wandering in the darkness. Might I suggest we set up camp?”
Nymphaea nodded in agreement. “I think Spicer is right. We have to be careful in Yggdrasil. Here all of the entities are in their full power and in the realm of the elementals they can control their environment.” the witch warned. “I will set upwards to protect us while you guys set up the camp.” the witch said as she walked off to create the wards.
They both had valid points. Serena sighed as she pulled out a single capsule from her pocket. “ You might want to stand back,” She said to Spicer whilst clicking the cap down and throwing it into the open space in front of them.
Upon contact with the ground, the capsule exploded, kicking up dust and creating a miniature cloud of fog. Once the fog disappeared, a single storey house appeared in view. “ Luckily I had some of these bad boys on hand” She took another capsule out and showed it to Spicer.
“I’m going to go get dinner sorted, don’t imagine you or Nymph have ever done any kitchen stuff before?” She pocketed the capsule. “You can see if Nymph needs any help, scout the perimeters, or like come in and just relax if need be”
With that said she began to walk towards the house. Thoughts drifting to the circumstances that lead them here, and the road ahead.
The Saiyan general nodded as he considered following after the queen and helping her set up the inside of their bivouac, but as he took a step forward a moment of indecision struck and he bit a lip.
“I’ll make sure there are nor frost giants or anything in the area,” Spicer called after Serena as he activated his scouter and walked a few metres from their position.
Wards aside, some other protection might be in order, Spicer thought as he began working digging a small trench around the perimeter of the house, several metres deep, and made a small snow mound a few metres beyond for an added defence against any potential threats. Once he was finished, after a few minutes, Spicer kept a watch out before heading back inside.
Nymphaea was carving a rune on the rock with a dagger she had when she saw the smoke rise up, the house appearing from it. The witch puffed up her cheeks. “Well my magic can do the same thing,” she muttered as she made the rune. “Dumb scientists stealing our magic. We did that first and we did it better,” she muttered bitterly as she walked a pile of large ice crystals and began to carve another rune on to them.
As the new rune was being etched Nymphaea’s mind began to wander back to her home. From the burning buildings, the angels massacred everyone in sight, seeing her sister on the verge of death as they fled without saving her mother. As each memory began to hit her she would stop carving the rune as she placed her other hand on the crystal.
Nymphaea would look into her reflection as she saw tears coming down. “I should have been there to help you guys.” she would place her forehead on the crystal, she would begin to bang her fist against the crystal. “I could have done something if I was there.”
Nymphaea thought on how if she was in Airceltria during the attack she could save her mother from being taken by the enemy and is now being held prisoner and probably being tortured. Maybe she could have fought with her sister and she wouldn’t be so badly injured? She knows that if she was there than perhaps more people would still be alive.
The Saiyaness fell on to her knees as she wept alone in front of her reflection. She stayed strong back on Earth for everyone after they were forced out of their homes and lost so many loved ones. But every time she smiled was a struggle. She had to stay positive for everyone, but each time she tried the more she felt like she wanted to join everyone in crying.
Now that she was alone she can finally drop the act and let her true feelings come out.
Elizabeth stepped outside of the castle as she was rubbing her stomach. On her hand was an apothecary bottle and as she pulled the cord off and began to drink the potion within it she would sense Ovan arriving. When he landed she would wipe her mouth off the few drops of the potions that spilled out.
"Ovan was it? I'm surprised you still remember me." she would place the bottle down on the ground. "So you came back from space because of the angels and are already training whoever you can find from your old squad to fight the angels?" she would lean back against the door with her arms folded on her chest. "I was thinking of finding Nymph's old squad and that legion of hers that Glacia gave her. We both have the same goals and my people know more about the angels. It only make sense that we work together."
She push herself off the door and turn around to open them. She would look behind her. "I will need to tell the elders your idea and have them agree to helping you out. Because right now the angels made things personal for us." she would give him a grin. "Plus I'm gonna call backup to help us fight against the angels."
As it turned out, Liz and her merry band of mages actually had a fair bit of information on the angels. "Huh. Alright, that's convenient, but I guess it makes sense. And yes, I am training them. The gravity and healing chambers are really going to expedite the process. Alongside my own expertise, I'll have them up to speed in no time. Relatively speaking of course." He explained. "Do you have any information as to why they're attacking? They seemed pretty hellbent on extermination. Not that they're going to make it past me, but I'm one person. Hence the trying to get the gang together. Easier to coordinate. That and, well, the PTO isn't exactly brimming with the strongest of warriors. They've got a few guys in the mid millions but that's not exactly the kind of material we need." He explained.
"Let's also make it quick. I do have to get back and keep putting everyone through the wringer. I don't want those angels coming back and not getting hit with the best we've got. Make them bleed for every inch they try to take."
