2018-2020: President Martín Vizcarra was worn in as the 67th president of peru after the resignation of president kuczynski and is left to deal with the peruvian political crisis. To mediate the crisis, president vizcarra enacted several political reforms including the dissolution of the peruvian congress and a referendum for a bicameral body , the referendum resulted in peru keeping it’s unicameral body and a snap election was held in January 2020, with the right-wing party Popular force winning most of the seats in parliament. Despite Vizcarra’s Average rating as his tenure as president it’s been clear that no sizeable change has happened during his presidency. Whilst the popular force are buzy with their infighting, the left-wing parties of the congress formed a coalition lead by the popular action. By late 2020 the popuarity of the popular force has wanned down due to their internal conflict and failed promises.The 2021 general elections finally came and resulted with the left-wing coalition’s wing, signaling the start of the pink tide in peru. Mesías Guevara Amasifué was sworn in as the 68th president of peru in may.
