And what would be considered "Successful" for Senator Thane? Sort of like a Labor Corps, utilizing ex military folks and Academy graduates to help with the needed infrastructure for the social welfare programs? Working as PR to transition the next generation into democracy?

Certainly the former as transitioning former veterans back into civilian life is a major goal of Thane's. Programs that help towards that goal would be considered "successful" for him.

Hey OP, due to how long it's been taken me to join, and a current focus on other matters- I'd like to- withdraw my character from the RP while continuing to serve as co-op if you will permit such.

Hey, that’s absolutely fine! Take care of yourself, and your character is always welcome to return.

Time to turn up some heat. Ya'll in the Senate should start making some good arguments or moving for votes or else you may find that bureaucracy fell for some good streamlining reasons.

How adverse would you be to a young, surviving member of the Imperial bureaucracy? One who was left behind by Palpatine and his patron, when they went to Endor and now finds himself alone in the emerging new order. I was thinking, at the moment he could simply be part of ongoing transition government, determined to use his wits and skills as a courtier and politician to survive until he can claw his way back to power? Perhaps eventually as a senator for his home planet once he can create an opening?

Hey everyone, I'm suffering from some minor physical ailments in social isolation. I'm not sick myself, but there is only so long you can stare at a screen and keep your sanity. I will respond soon to everyone, I hope, but allow me some time to get my head in order. I hope to get updates up over the weekend.

Is it just me, or are we lacking some New Republic loyalists/good guys at the moment?

Honestly I was thinking of making a Borsk Feyala type character, who would be a hardcore Centralist, but I just noticed there are no real Palpatinists or representatives of the Central Imperial government on Coruscant in this thing as well (that and I'm just a hardcore lover of the empire). However, I would be willing to create an Imperial defector, who was ousted as a result of some political struggle his faction lost and only joined the Rebellion and now seeks to reforge it into what he considers to be a proper government. Or alternatively, the grandchild of a former Separatist who has an axe to grind with the Empire and sees the new galactic government as the means to that end.

Yeah, originally I thought of executing a Caesar-like Rubicon crossing for my character, but at this rate the Commodore will be fending off coups instead of carrying them out.

Canonically and Legendary wise, the control of the Galaxy by the New Republic took years to consolidate.

Exactly, legends was the best explanation though (at least as someone for someone like me who actually makes a career out of history and political science). Canon they just said, "A massive intergalactic autocracy with thousands of ships, trillions (I'd argue) of troops, a well-organized (if heavily factional) bureaucracy and a number of highly qualified if fractious successors falls in five years? Sounds sound to me."

Don't get me wrong I appreciate the idea of Operation Cinder, Gallius Rax and all that but please, flesh it out and don't skimp on the warlords please.

that would be great for my character, he is a former imperial spy who acted like a normal rebel wen the war ended.

Well, as it appears, this RP is moreover being run out along its course by the players at the moment so I don't see why not.

Application
Personal information
Name: Ardur Meredito
Age: 47
Species: Mirialan
Appearance: This picture doesn't show his cybernetics. The top tattoos are for his intellect, the side for his persuasive/diplomatic prowess, the chin for his stoic mannerism, aka stiff upper lip.
Image
Planet of origin: Mirial
Rank and title: CEO of the Northern Trade Federation
Short biography:
Ardur Meredito hatched during the warm season of 43 BBY on Mirial. His family was a very influential family in regards to Mirial's interactions with the Trade Federation, which more-or-less gave them total control over Mirial's exports, all of which were done through the TF controlled Hydian Way. At the age of 15, it was decided that he was ready to go to the Royal Business Academy in Beneto, his home city. Here, he performed exceptionally well and proved that he was ready to become Mirial's representative to the Trade Federation. His father retired in 25 BBY, handing the office over to his son. Three years later, however, the Clone Wars started.

When the Clone Wars hit Mirial, Ardur Meredito answered the same call as millions of his fellow Mirialans and joined the Army. So as not to interfere with his work, it was decided that he would serve as a logistics officer. Though he was given combat training, he was able to stay behind the frontlines for most of the battle of Mirial. This changed about one month into the battle of Mirial, when Beneto was besieged by Republic forces under the command of Aayla Secura. His office was surrounded by clones, so he had to hold out for a grueling 20 hour mini-siege until an extraction helicopter arrived. By that point, however, he had been severely injured. During the battle, he was hit by an improvised frag grenade, though the usage of such devices is typically a war crime. As a result, his right shin was broken, and his left thigh had become infected by the shrapnel. As a result, his right shin and entire left leg had to be amputated and replaced with cybernetics. Eventually, the siege of Beneto was lifted and Republic forces were defeated. With this, he was able to go back to juggling his two jobs for the rest of the war.

During the first day of the Empire, the Trade Federation, Banking Clan, Commerce Guild, and Techno Union were all nationalized. This meant that Ardur would have to either join the same Empire that crippled him, or give up on the Trade Federation. Due to the King's refusal to cooperate with the Empire, he ultimately chose the latter. This meant that he was now just a logistics officer. It was a good thing that all of his attention was now on the military, as Mirial was attacked by the Empire during the Listehol Campaign. Because of his logistical prowess, he was able to weather Mirial through the 5-year siege until the Empire finally withdrew from the icy planet, millions of dead stormtroopers later. This battle was the Empire's first real defeat, and Mirial was able to force a ceasefire treaty which granted them de facto independence.

Until the declaration of the Rebel Alliance and Mon Mothma's denunciation of the Republic terrorist Saw Gerrera, Mirial was in a period of relative prosperity when compared to other planets who hadn't submitted to the Empire. When the Alliance was formed, however, Mirial rebooted their arms factories, and started working on reversing the Listehol Campaign. After the King promised Mon Mothma that he wouldn't allow the Zygerrians to practice slavery, Ardur Meredito was tasked with planning the invasion and liberation of Zygerria and neighboring systems. He decided to take some pages out of the King's book and use spare Battle Droids as assault troops while using Mirialan soldiers for less costly tasks. The invasion was started at about the same time as the battle of Scarif, meaning that it was ultimately Scarif that ended up receiving the honor of "their first victory against the evil galactic empire." At the time of this RP's beginning, Mirial has just finished the Listehol Reversal, and Ardur Meredito is preparing to restart his Trade Federation job.

Political information
Political views: Ardur Meredito's views can best be compared to minarchism/right-libertarianism in the real world. He believes that the state should exist primarily to facilitate competition/trade, maintain galactic peace, and prevent crimes such as slavery and piracy. Though he's no longer a full-fledged separatist, he is very much sympathetic to their ideas and looks back fondly to his time serving the Confederacy during the Clone Wars.
Political faction and subfaction: New Republican, Decentralist
Organisational allegiance: Hydian Trade Federation, Mirialan Monarchy, New Republic
Position within galactic government: Viceroy of the Hydian Trade Federation
Political goal: Ardur Meredito's main goal is the resurrection of the Trade Federation and the resumption of Mirial's industrial export economy.
Favourable factions: Decentralists
Unfavourable factions: Imperials, Old Republicans
Key issue: End slavery and criminality, reform the banks to encourage entrepreneurship and prevent profiteering as seen during the clone wars, rebuild the economy, separate the Jedi and the military.

Additional
Relations with other players: Ewavdi's mentor, more-or-less.

Hey OP, do you think that it's due for another round of TGs for inactive-ish players? I really like this RP and I don't want it kicking the bucket any time soon. Sorry if that sounds a tad extreme. The, kicking the bucket part that is.
