I think the point of divergence is Aegon's birth. So everything before that is canon, but everything after that is not. It's up to us to make it. So, I'll chalk it to a maybe.

Well, it seems so far the Ironborn incursion in Westeros is barely over, so naturally bordering realms will look with suspicion at these guys. Harwyn is still around, and he is as cunning and fierce as you can imagine, so both he is really dangerous to everyone and also knows he need alliances. I believe playing on that will work in any case.

Indeed, although personally I don't mind either fixing the history to have Harwyn around or Harren. Harwyn is a rather awesome character and it would be interesting to see him playing in the Post-Valyrian world.

When Aar started assuming a more general meaning of "bird of prey suitable for hunting or falconry", the term edler Aar emerged to distinguish eagles from other hunting birds such as falcons and hawks. -from wiktionary

makes me think the surename "Arryn" was probably a way GRRM chose to say "Falcon-ish"... so, Middle High German is akin to Old Andal?
