It was an unusually warm December evening when America was changed. A single bright light lit up the sky over Fredericksburg, Virginia before fading almost as fast as it appeared. The next day news trickled in by word of mouth instead of by radio, which had been dead all night. Though rumors varied on exactly what had happened, what was known was that the Nazis had invaded and that Washington had been wiped off the map by something. Around mid-day the radios came back on, only instead of standard bits of drama and news, it was German Propaganda, promoting submission and helping the invaders. The next day, in a speech that would change history, the sole survivng member of Military High Command and potentially all of the government, Mark W. Clark, announced the surrender of the country. The war was apparently over. Within the next week, Nazi forces began to trickle into a camp they had set up outside of town, and began paying those who helped them with construction in rations. Apparently Frederick has been set up as Oberkommando Mittelamerika, the ground zero for operations into the heavily resistant west, where several states now claimed independence. Meanwhile New England remains hard to subjugate. Word from the pacific coast is slow, and nothing from out there is for certain. It has been 2 weeks since that strange warm December evening, and the world has changed forever.

Welcome to The New Order, a slice of life/resistance RP taking place in the universe of the Man in the High Castle. Two weeks prior to the start of the RP, Washington DC was wiped off the map by an Atomic Bomb, known in this world as a Heisenberg Device. In the following days, the United States surrendered and Axis forces occupied most of the east coast, though they are fighting heavy resistance in the Northern States, as well as in the middle of the country. We play as the inhabitants of Fredericksburg, Virginia, whether they are a member of the town or one of the occupying forces that has set up shop nearby in the mysterious camp known to the inhabitants as Oberkommando Mittelamerika. What will happen? Will you help the growing Resistance movement or appease the Occupiers? It's up to you to decide

This is just a brief timeline of events that are different in the TV Show of The Man in the High Castles world, as well as some alterations I have made to make it flow better. This will focus mostly on American history, as most of European history proceeded pretty closely to our world, with a few obvious exceptions.

February 15th, 1933- FDR is successfully assassinated by Giuseppe Zangara, less than a month before the Presidential-elect was to take office

March 4th, 1933- After hotly contested debates over whether to hold a new election or appoint FDR's chosen Vice President, John Garner, Congress comes to a narrow decision. Garner is sworn in to a large crowd, and delivers his famous "Crime shall not end us" speech at his inauguration.

April 13th, 1933- Garner enacts the controversial Police Act, allowing police crackdowns on both homeless villages around the country, and "harmful" labour unions, under the justification of finding more men like Zangara.

November 11th, 1936- After a hotly contested election, one of the first stalemates in history occurs. John Garner wins the electoral vote, while Republican John Bricker wins the popular vote from a disenfranchised American people. At the threat of mass riots and potentially Revolution across the country, Congress quickly pushes through the 21st Amendment, changing the election conditions to allow Bricker the Presidency. Garner steps aside so that transition may be smooth and peaceful.

March 4th, 1937- John Bricker takes office, immdiaetly setting to work to undo many of President Garner's harmful and authoritarian policies. Sticking with his policy of States over Federal, Bricker makes several moves to give States the power to end the Depression in their own state, using methods that work for their states.

January 26th, 1938- The Allison Incident occurs, only in this timeline the Japanese refuse to apologize to a "Dying and Weak western nation trying to appease their superiors." Tensions rapidly increase across America and Japanese Hate Crimes skyrocket.

February 20th, 1939- The German American Bund, or simply the Bund, a Nazi Organization centered in New York holds a rally in Madison Square Garden, attacking those they considered undesirable and criticising the federal government as "weak and spineless". The Rally, undeterred by German denunciation in this timeline,
attracts nearly 100,000 spectators, including 10,000 Italian Americans and 5,000 Irish. Films of the Rally are spread across the eastern seaboard and membership in the Bund soars.

September 1st, 1939- Germany invades Poland, starting the second World War

October, 1939- Poland surrenders to Germany and the Soviet Union, being split in half by the two

May 10th, 1940- German troops are moved from Poland to the Western Front, and begin their invasion of the country, with Italy joining in June 1st.

May 29th, 1940- Operation Dynamo declared a decimating failure, with German Submarines and Planes wiping out the BEF and French Divisions trapped at Dunkirk. The event is known as the Dunkirk Massacre.

June 24th, 1940- The French Government surrenders, establishing a German occupied Zone and the Vichy government.

July 4th, 1940- The Battle of Britain begins with an excessive bombing campaign by Germany, hitting key military sites

September 13th, 1940- The Marcks Plan, a document laying out invasion plans of the Soviet Union, is revealed to the Soviet Government and Public. Stalin promises a quick strike against Germany

September 18th, 1940- The Soviet Union declares war on Germany, hasitly trying to mobilize troops for an invasion

November 20th, 1940- The Battle of Warsaw, Soviet Infantry meets German Panzer Divisions outside and in Warsaw. Though the Soviets initially begin to win, German reinforcements quickly arrive and shatter the Red Army. Germany holds at the old Polish border, waiting out the winter

January 5th, 1941- Allied forces meet in French Algeria, preparing for an invasion across the mediterranean

April 6th, 1941- German Invasion of the Soviet Union commences as a war weary allied force attempts to invade Sicily.

July 8th, 1941- German Forces occupy Moscow, capturing Stalin and holding him prisoner. The Red Army continues to fight but is severly weakened and failing fast.

July 17th, 1941- Allied forces take Salerno at heavy cost. The Italian army also takes heavy losses and requests additional support from Germany.

July 30th, 1941- Germany agrees to help Italy, provided that Italy allow Germany to occupy it's land. The Italian people hold their first vote in Decades to decide their fate.

August 15th, 1941- The Italian public votes and the Pisa Accord is signed, allowing for German Occupation of Italy

September 16th, 1941- German-Italian divisions drive the Allies out of Southern Italy. Germany however violates the Pisa Accord, continuing their occupation of Italy. Italy is too weak to fight the German Juggernaut and meekly accepts it's fate.

September 17th, 1941- As a show of force and strength following victory in Italy, Stalin is publically executed in the largest TV broadcast in history. "Blood TVs" as they would come to be known were given out to every citizen specifically for the event. The remnants of the Red Army surrender outside of Kazan.

November 14th, 1941- Germany and Japan sign the Alliance for Forwarding the World, a secret military alliance for the planned invasion of America. German troops travel to China and help end the bloody second Sino-Japanese War.

December 20th, 1941- The Kreigsmarine, bolstered with captured ships from France, Italy, Russia, as well as Japanese Naval ships launch a massive naval invasion of Britain. The Motto "Done by Christmas" is used as the Germans face little to no resistance in the depopulated and war weary isles.

December 23rd, 1941- London is occupied by German forces. King George VI is captured by occupying forces, while his daughters Elizabeth and Margaret vanish along with Winston Churchill, who are believed to have fled to Canada.

January 29th, 1941- German forces begin the Balkan Conflict, rapidly invading the Balkan States and Turkey

April 15th, 1941- Upon forcing Turkey to capitulate, Germany issues the Istanbul Ultimatum. While the document was laced with words of friendship and progress, the message was clear. If you were a European power, submit to Germany or suffer the consequences.

May 19th, 1941- VE Day, all opposing Nations on the European Continent submit to German occupation. Though resistance is strong in some of these areas,
Germany and Japan set their sights on a much larger goal, North America.

January 15th, 1942- After monthes of planning, the Japanese begin the first phase of a long war, planned out by the Axis to conquer America. Pearl Harbor is attacked, and most of the US Pacific fleet is wiped out.

1942-1945- The Pacific War, a long a bloody conflict of Island Hopping that was won by the Japanese simply due to attrition taking it's toll on the economically weak and decentralized American nation.

December 1st, 1945- German troops sucessfully land in Canada from Greenland. Many believe this is a prelude to an Invasion of the US.

December 11th, 1945- Germany drops the Heisenberg Device on Washington D.C. as troops land on both the east and west coast

Personality: Russell is a coarse, unrefined man. His manners are sometimes crude, and he speaks as a man who is not highly educated, yet knows his way around the world. He carries himself in a way that demands respect without setting people on edge. He has become unepathetic over the years and has become somewhat cynical about the job that he works.

Bio: Russell was born in 1909 to Halvor Berg and Alexandria Scott Berg. Halvor was a second generation American, his parents Norwegians who made their way to Virginia and started a farm. Halvor himself was a member of the Army. Alexandria came from an old plantation family. She married the dashing Norwegian soldier who came into town from a nearby military encampment. The two were wed in 1908 and had their first child, Russell, about a year later. A year after Russell was born, his younger brother Jackson was born. The two grew up almost inseparable, with many people sometimes mistaking them for twins. When Russell was 8, his mother received a telegram that would change their lives. Russell's father had died fighting in Europe, killed in an artillery strike. They could not recover anything but his dog tags.

Russell and his family would struggle to make ends meet through the Roaring Twenties and into the Depression. Russell and Jackson would often take odd jobs, forsaking their schooling for earning money. Their mother worked herself to the bone cooking at a local restaurant. When Jackson turned 18, he followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the Army, despites Russell's protests. Eventually, Russell felt compelled to serve as well and got a job as a police officer. He worked in the same town he grew up in, and married his childhood sweetheart in 1927. He had a son of his own in 1937, Mark, and a daughter in 1939, Amy. Life was typically quiet in Russel's life until 1939, following his brother's leaving of the army and joining freedom fighters in Europe to fight the Nazis. Though Russell tried to talk him out of the same death sentence that had taken their father. Jackson refused to listen, and came home from Europe in pieces. Russell's mother couldn't take the stress of the loss and died soon after Jackson's funeral. Russell has become somewhat detached from life since then, though he had been making an effort to get out of his slump.

He does this, however, out of conviction that it is best for the people of the world, and that all people, Jew or gentile, would be better off. He sees himself as an educator who is going to teach these values to conquered peoples.

After the loss of the Great War, the city of Eger became a part of the Czechoslovakia, much to the dismay of his parents. From a young age, Alexander was told the great German stories, why German was the strongest nation in the world, and how there was an international conspiracy to keep her down. He was also inspired by the United States, especially because of its Manifest Destiny, the civil war, and their eugenics programs. Alexander took this like candy, together with his older sister and his younger brother. While his younger brother was more of a military figure, Alexander himself was unfit for military service. He was more of an administrator, and joined a German nationalist political party.

When the Sudetenland was occupied by Nazi-Germany, the Karlsrühe-family rejoiced. Young Heinrich, Alexander’s younger brother, immediately joined the Wehrmacht, while Alexander joined the SS as an administrator. At first he was a part of the local SD, but his command of the Czech language and of English made him a prime candidate for the foreign service. He started as a lowly clerc, but through diligence started working himself up. In 1939, he was noticed by Walter Schellenberg, then-head of Amt VI, who was working on his Black Book. The book was a list of British officials who would oppose the formation of a new fascist order in the British isles. Using Alexander’s command of the English language, a list of 2,694 people was compiled. When the UK was invaded in 1941, Alexander was promoted to Obersturmführer and given command over one of the many SS platoons that would roam through Britain, hunting for dissidents. An uncountable number of possible dissidents were arrested and locked up or executed to make clear the road for a fascist Britain. The process was not entirely ready when, in 1945, the German Wehrmacht invaded the US. Since 1942, besides working in Britain, Alexander had been working on another Black Book.
