Our Roleplay’s Rules

• 1.) Don’t godmod, powergame, metagame, commit any of their variants, or do anything similar
• 3.) Your in character posts must equal a 5 sentence paragraph at the absolute minimum. Every player is expected to be fluent in any dialect of English spelling and grammar. Your grammar does and spelling does not have to be perfect, nor do you have to have anything like graduate or postgraduate level literacy, but please run things through a spellchecker first. Netspeak isn’t allowed.
• 4.) Please label your posts with their location, or the location where parts of your post take place.
• 5.) In this RP, the current system for time is that it passes with every page being 3 months. To make sure that events aren’t skipped, we will be adding some fluid time to allow people to continue RPing their wars and meetings even as time passes. This means that you will need to tell us which part of your post is when if you use this system since you can post using fluid time for your wars, meetings, and other such things, post using normal time passing, or post using both.

Claim: State of Southern Korea (Republic of Korea) | State of Northern Korea (DPRK) | Liaoning, AKA the Korean Expanse (Manchuria)
History/why you own the territory you do: For decades, the Korean Cold War had been egged on by an imperialist, interventionalist State of Liaoning that placed the Kim family in charge of the northern portion of the Korean Peninsula, and aimed them at South Korea. Wars were fought, and things were tense, with over 10,000 artillery pieces pointed as the Republic of Korea’s capital city. When the DPRK first developed nuclear weapons, everything began changing for Liaoning which was experiencing nations formerly in its sphere of influence continuing to flaw out of them as problems at home hampered her ability to tackle her foreign policy agenda. An organization known as the Consortium organized communications between South and North Korean officials, working towards the creation of a new central government that immediately saw reconciliation and the start of a new relationship. The new central government would handle foreign, defense, monetary, education, agricultural, and some other areas of government while the devolved RoK and DPRK governments would handle their local domestic affairs, operating in unison through officials selected by their government to control the Commonwealth’s central government. The idea was radical, but accepted. Koreans were tired of imperialists intervening in their country, and the Consortium’s agents made a compelling case. All of their problems would be solved. North Korea would no longer be isolated, South Korea could acquire most of her energy from the new state, technology would be shared, medicine would help North Korea’s population, and Liaoning would no longer be capable of isolating either of the nation’s on the world stage while the new Korean expanse stayed strong. There was another matter, however. Once they announced the formation of the Commonwealth, they had already arranged for a defensive front. Invasion by Liaoning was all but assured, as Liaoning possessed a much more powerful conventional military, but lacked nuclear weapons. Sections of Liaoning were leveled by a series of IRBM launches that decimated the capital of Liaoning. The problems at home in Liaoning, this time brought about by the government unwisely stripping the leftover Imperial family from Liaoning’s era as an absolute monarchy of their titles and citizenship, butchering most of the main family aside from a 6 year old boy that was smuggled out of the country, as well as burgeoning difficulties with the significant Korean population in Liaoning. Liaoning soon capitulated, facing the motherland under control of the Commonwealth once again.

Military: Approximately has 5,000,000 total members (there has been a significant population increase without an equally significant increase in the military cause militaries are expensive af) - 3.82 million in reserves, with 1.18 million active. The navy is the strongest, most heavily funded branch, featuring approximately 160,000 sailors and around 240,000 marines. There are two aircraft carriers escorted by full fleets, with a coast guard (30,000) as well as a number of individually operating cruisers (8), destroyers (32), and submarines (32; 8 ICBM equipped submarines), as well as a series of corvettes and fast, heavily armed patrol boats similar in some aspects to Israeli designs all booned by unmanned submersibles.

The army is average - the second most heavily funded branch - and similarly to the navy is almost entirely domestically sourced, featuring a wide variety of advanced weaponry and equipment. It is 820,000 strong.

Meanwhile, featuring around 130,000 personnel and 1,100 aircraft, the Commonwealth Air Force is a significant threat featuring systems inherited from Liaoning State, the DPRK, and the Republic of Korea. It could most definitely use more aircraft of more modern or reliably-engined designs, the former an issue with DPRK-originating craft and the latter with Liaoning craft. Though still largely dependent on foreigners, Liaoning-originating designs have greatly assisted their burgeoning domestic aerospace industry, and production may soon start on a number of designs meant to eventually replace the outdated, but upgraded or foreign designs that the Commonwealth possesses. The air force differs from the other branch's mature industries in that it relies on foreign joint development and licensing opportunities, and purchases (including for Commonwealth-exclusive variants), with the Commonwealth working to develop their own domestic capabilities. Possesses a prototype fifth-generation Liaoning-originating design that is being developed, as well as an array of stealth missiles and a robust Liaoning-originating bomber fleet. However, these are largely inherited aircraft. The air force hasn't grown significantly. That does not mean you should underestimate their air force, however.
Further Military Description: The Commonwealth Forces are some of the most well-funded and well-trained forces in the world, receiving around 13% of the government’s total government funding yearly. Over the past 10 years, it has been greatly funded, with two Liaoning aircraft carriers inherited and modified. It is sort of a patchwork of technology of different origins and eras at the moment, but all can communicate without much problem.
WMDs: Yes. They possess chemical and biological weapons development and manufacturing capability as well as an active nuclear arsenal that has been expanded and began harnessing South Korean technology since the formation of the Commonwealth. They source uranium through Liaoning, the DPRK’s nuclear reactors, and South Korean Western Contacts.

Territorial Claims: Due to my nation's history, Iran and Turkey. For economic reasons, they're also eyeing much of the Middle East. In the long term, if their early efforts are successful, they may see themselves as a successor to the USSR, and move into Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
History/why you own the territory you do: Azadliq came about through desperation. Iran, the last bastion of Islam in the Middle East, fell to British forces in the 19th century (this is the beginning of the alternative timeline). The Persians fled north, while the Ottomans pushed east, sending the Armenians into the same region the Persians fled to. These two groups formed the bulk of the displaced peoples that formed the state of Azadliq. This state was nothing more than a coalition of partisans that fought to defend each other, but after the Ottomans fell and the Europeans withdrew from the Middle East, Azadliq pushed forward and reclaimed much of their lost land.
In the early 1930's the partisans that formed the military rebranded themselves as a political party and, with help from their Soviet neighbors, overthrew the coalition government that had ruled over Azadliq and installed a Soviet Communist Dictatorship in its stead. This event, completed in 1937, set the stage for further Soviet efforts in Korea and Vietnam later in the 20th century. The Soviet Socialist Republic of Azadliq became a key part of the Russian's military infrastructure, producing almost 80% of all foreign oil used by the Russian military. With the fall of the Soviet Union, however, Azadliq sought economic allies elsewhere-- and thanks to their massive oil reserves, found them. Now that they have escaped their Russian yoke, Azadliq-- already an emerging power on the world stage-- seeks to prove itself as a 21st century superpower. Its neighbors have been left with only a single question: Who will Azadliq subjugate first?

Government Ideology/Policies: My government is a Soviet Socialist Republic. In other words, they use their brand of communism as a means of controlling the people, bolstering the party, and its retaining its power. If you question or work against the Partisan Party, then you are uncultured and will forever be branded as untrustworthy, capitalistic, and greedy. Like Poland, however, Azadliq already had a very devout population before the party took over. To appease this population Islam has been permitted to be publicly practiced, despite the normally atheistic leanings of Soviet governments.
Government Structure: The government is, for all intents and purposes, the Partisan political party. Factories, fisheries, farms, and other businesses are run by the party for the party, and the way to advancement is to join and promote the party. Each province is a chapter of the party, with a small council of party leaders at its head. These councils form the Party Congress. They elect a Central Committee which then elects the Politburo. The Politburo is made up of the Foreign Minister, the Defense Minister, the Chief Ideologue, the Director of State Security, the Director of Energy and Production, the Director of Agriculture and the Treasury, and the General Secretary. The Politburo is theoretically answerable to the Central Committee, but in reality tends to rule Azadliq without checks or balances.
Leaders: General Secretary Neil Yusef. Despite his unfortunate British ancestors, he's proved himself loyal to the party and previously served as the Director of State Security.
Ruling Party: Partisan Party

National Problems: Economic Accountability: Like the USSR, Azadliq is a massive bureaucracy, and folk use that to their advantage. For example, factory managers who have been ordered to produce 10 tanks might only produce 9, but they'll still report 10 because otherwise they'll lose their job. The party's bureaucracy makes holding them accountable, or even discovering the fraud, difficult at best.
Politics First: Azadliq always puts the party first, and the party is always right. If the party says that this farm can grow 5 tons of potatoes, then the farm can grow that much, even if the professional farmer knows it can only yield 3 tons sustainably. If a military commander is a genius but disregards his political officer's advice, that commander will be removed-- after all, a good commander is a commander that complies with the will of the party.
GDP: ~400 Billion USD

Military: The army is the strongest and best funded branch of the military. The Air Force is also fairly strong and well funded, but due to the high number of SAMs used by Azadliq's neighbors, the effectiveness of the Air Force is limited. The Black Sea holds Azadliq's only major ports, and as a result, their navy is fairly weak by modern standards.

Military organization: The Defense Minister is in charge of all military forces (Though the General Secretary can issue orders as well). Each branch is headed by a General or, in the navy's case, an Admiral. Below them you have each service branches officer corps. Most low-ranking officers are also accompanied by political officers, who serve to identify and correct conscripts and soldiers whose political leanings are not in line with the parties. Political officers typically do not accompany soldiers into combat zones.
The Army: The army is the strongest branch of the Azadliqi military. While all men are required to serve in the army for 2 years at age 16, many choose to stay because-- due to our nation's history-- soldiers tend to eat better, have better lodgings, and move up in the party faster than civilians. As a result, Azadliq has had to raise its physical and mental requirements for continued military service in order to force those less qualified to return to the civilian workforce.
Conscripts are used to build and maintain infrastructure, factories, bridges, and so forth for their first 21 months of service. They undergo basic combat training during the final 3 months, at which point they may stay in the military if qualified. Their military service is renewed every 5 years, and after 30 years (at age 48) they are permitted to retire if they so choose (the civilian retirement age is 70).
If a conscript reenlists then they initially go through advanced infantry training. From here they are sent where the military needs them. Some drive tanks, some use artillery, some become political officers, and so forth. If they are very skilled they may be asked to join the Special Forces.
The Navy: There are only 12 major ships in the Azadliqi navy-- 5 destroyers, 3 cruisers, 3 frigates, and an oilier. There are also smaller boats, such as fast-attack craft, though these are typically used for law enforcement purposes.
The Air Force: The air force primarily consists of interceptors and bombers. The use primarily Russian planes, such as the MIG and SU series. Following the fall of the USSR they began designing and building their own aircraft, such as the FC-5 attack fighter.

WMDs: Azadliq has large chemical weapon stockpiles, though they have never used them. The USSR built a nuclear power plant in Azadliq and, as a result, Azadliq does have a small stockpile of uranium that can be used to develop nuclear weapons, though they do not have them currently. It does not have any biological weapons.

History/why you own the territory you do:
In the 9th century Vikings invaded French land and conquered Normandy, the Vikings and France would battle over land and slowly the Vikings would expand the land they own. At one point the Vikings conquered most of North Eastern France. The Vikings and France agreed to a stalemate, in which Normandy would keep its land and France wouldn’t have to waste any more resources on the Vikings for now. Then 60 years later, France launches another attack on Normandy. But the attack backfired horribly. Normandy quickly pushed through France and took nearly half of the country before the French surrendered to keep their land.
Just 17 years afterwards France launched another attack to regain some of their lost territory, which at first worked stupendously before it didn’t. Normandy retook their land and more. France was weak from the previous war and Normandy took advantage of it. Soon, France was just a page in a history book. Normandy defeated the odds, and not only kept their territory but also dominated over the French. Many centuries of war and trade would see Normandy’s territory shrink and expand. But to this day Normandy are still a huge piece of current history.
Normandy’s current president is Alexander Dubois. The government is a republic with a parliament with a total of 103 members. The nation is considered to have a 4 party system with the most popular parties being the démocratique party, patriotique party, verte party and the enfants party, the current president is of the patriotique party.

Claim: New York, Pennsylvania, Northeast America, Southern Spain, sliver of North Africa
History/why you own the territory you do: The United Empire of Trev began in 1689, when the Trevian movement fighting for increased exploration funding, increased religious freedom, and the right to autonomy began to protest and riot in the streets of Spain. Out of this became turmoil, and great division among the people of Spain and the Spanish crown. That is when a group of Revolutionaries called the Trev Guard came together, and signed the declaration of indulgence and freedom. This document laid out that the rights of man span from religious freedom, private ownership, and right to immigrate. With this document these Trevian Revolutionaries laid claim to the southern part of Spain, and a sliver of North Africa. This became known as the Empire of Trev, and the leader of the Trevian guard which was Trev, took the reigns as emperor of The Trevian Empire. For about 40 years the Trevian Empire faced constant threat of infringement of sovereignty, and war until in 1729 when the treaty of Vert was signed. This treaty gave sovereignty to the people of the Trevian Empire, and laid groundwork for the future of the Empire. In the next 50 years the Empire became very enlightened and began extreme exploration in the west. This was what they wanted in the Spanish empire but could not get. In 1748 the Trevian Empire found what was known as Northeast America. The Trevian Empire laid claim to this land, and began to practice Democratic policies with this new found Colony. Natives were found here, but the Trevian people were very nice and close with the Natives, and some Natives even joined the Trevian Empire. For the Next about ten to twenty years the Empire focused on developing their sliver of Northeast America. Many people moved to this area, and it began to grow. That’s when in about 1771 The British Colonies of Pennsylvania and New York refused to join the other 11 Colonies of Britain to fight the British crown. They asked for Trevian assistance in maintaining sovereignty and protecting against the British. The Trevian Crown gladly accepted, and many troops, goods, and people were sent to these autonomous Colonies in this era. In 1794 the 11 Colonies lost and surrendered to the British Crown, this left Pennsylvania, and New York vulnerable. In 1798 the New York and Pennsylvanian sovereign governments signed the annexation treaty of revt which made Pennsylvania and New York official Colonies of the Trevian Empire. For the next 5 years the New York and Pennsylvanian Colonies fought off British Conflict with the help of the Trevian Homeland and in 1809 the British officially recognized these colonies as territory of the Trevian Empire. After this a democratic system of Representative government was set up. A Trevian local government was set up and the Crown gave representation and rights to all people in these lands. The Enperor was the head of all of this Territory and frequently visited both. For the next 200 years the Empire saw great Economic growth, and saw military growth, and growth all around the board. This led to the modern day super power known as Trevian Empire, and it still stands today!

The Airforce is the strongest, most heavily funded branch, featuring approximately 200,000 pilots. The Airforce owns about 7,230 planes including, 2000 fighters, 700 Attack planes, 2,500 helicopters, 200 bombers, 1,000 transports, 200 trainers, and 630 attack helicopters. The Trevian Empire owns one of the most capable air forces in the world.

The army is average - the second most heavily funded branch - and similarly to the navy is almost entirely domestically sourced, featuring a wide variety of advanced weaponry and equipment. It is 700,000 strong.

Meanwhile, featuring around 150,000 sailors and 100,000 Marines, the Trevian Navy is a significant threat featuring 6 protected Aircraft Carriers, 60 Destroyers, 10 Corvettes, 30 Submarines, 13 Patrol, and 11 Mine Warfare systems.
Further Military Description: The Trevian forces aren’t one of the strongest in the world featuring a yearly budget of 15% and continued growth. They are very skilled and are leading the world in military research and innovation.

The Persians fled north, while the Ottomans pushed east, sending the Armenians into the same region the Persians fled to. These two groups formed the bulk of the displaced peoples that formed the state of Azadliq. This state was nothing more than a coalition of partisans that fought to defend each other, but after the Ottomans fell and the Europeans withdrew from the Middle East, Azadliq pushed forward and reclaimed much of their lost land.
In the early 1930's the partisans that formed the military rebranded themselves as a political party and, with help from their Soviet neighbors, overthrew the coalition government that had ruled over Azadliq and installed a Soviet Communist Dictatorship in its stead. This event, completed in 1937, set the stage for further Soviet efforts in Korea and Vietnam later in the 20th century. The Soviet Socialist Republic of Azadliq became a key part of the Russian's military infrastructure, producing almost 80% of all foreign oil used by the Russian military. With the fall of the Soviet Union, however, Azadliq sought economic allies elsewhere-- and thanks to their massive oil reserves, found them. Now that they have escaped their Russian yoke, Azadliq-- already an emerging power on the world stage-- seeks to prove itself as a 21st century superpower. Its neighbors have been left with only a single question: Who will Azadliq subjugate first?

Government Ideology/Policies: My government is a Soviet Socialist Republic. In other words, they use their brand of communism as a means of controlling the people, bolstering the party, and its retaining its power. If you question or work against the Partisan Party, then you are uncultured and will forever be branded as untrustworthy, capitalistic, and greedy. Like Poland, however, Azadliq already had a very devout population before the party took over. To appease this population Islam has been permitted to be publicly practiced, despite the normally atheistic leanings of Soviet governments.
Government Structure: The government is, for all intents and purposes, the Partisan political party. Factories, fisheries, farms, and other businesses are run by the party for the party, and the way to advancement is to join and promote the party. Each province is a chapter of the party, with a small council of party leaders at its head. These councils form the Party Congress. They elect a Central Committee which then elects the Politburo. The Politburo is made up of the Foreign Minister, the Defense Minister, the Chief Ideologue, the Director of State Security, the Director of Energy and Production, the Director of Agriculture and the Treasury, and the General Secretary. The Politburo is theoretically answerable to the Central Committee, but in reality tends to rule Azadliq without checks or balances.
Leaders: General Secretary Neil Yusef. Despite his unfortunate British ancestors, he's proved himself loyal to the party and previously served as the Director of State Security.

National Problems: Economic Accountability: Like the USSR, Azadliq is a massive bureaucracy, and folk use that to their advantage. For example, factory managers who have been ordered to produce 10 tanks might only produce 9, but they'll still report 10 because otherwise they'll lose their job. The party's bureaucracy makes holding them accountable, or even discovering the fraud, difficult at best.
Politics First: Azadliq always puts the party first, and the party is always right. If the party says that this farm can grow 5 tons of potatoes, then the farm can grow that much, even if the professional farmer knows it can only yield 3 tons sustainably. If a military commander is a genius but disregards his political officer's advice, that commander will be removed-- after all, a good commander is a commander that complies with the will of the party.

Military: The army is the strongest and best funded branch of the military. The Air Force is also fairly strong and well funded, but due to the high number of SAMs used by Azadliq's neighbors, the effectiveness of the Air Force is limited. The Black Sea holds Azadliq's only major ports, and as a result, their navy is fairly weak by modern standards.

Military organization: The Defense Minister is in charge of all military forces (Though the General Secretary can issue orders as well). Each branch is headed by a General or, in the navy's case, an Admiral. Below them you have each service branches officer corps. Most low-ranking officers are also accompanied by political officers, who serve to identify and correct conscripts and soldiers whose political leanings are not in line with the parties. Political officers typically do not accompany soldiers into combat zones.
The Army: The army is the strongest branch of the Azadliqi military. While all men are required to serve in the army for 2 years at age 16, many choose to stay because-- due to our nation's history-- soldiers tend to eat better, have better lodgings, and move up in the party faster than civilians. As a result, Azadliq has had to raise its physical and mental requirements for continued military service in order to force those less qualified to return to the civilian workforce.
Conscripts are used to build and maintain infrastructure, factories, bridges, and so forth for their first 21 months of service. They undergo basic combat training during the final 3 months, at which point they may stay in the military if qualified. Their military service is renewed every 5 years, and after 30 years (at age 48) they are permitted to retire if they so choose (the civilian retirement age is 70).
If a conscript reenlists then they initially go through advanced infantry training. From here they are sent where the military needs them. Some drive tanks, some use artillery, some become political officers, and so forth. If they are very skilled they may be asked to join the Special Forces.
The Navy: There are only 12 major ships in the Azadliqi navy-- 5 destroyers, 3 cruisers, 3 frigates, and an oilier. There are also smaller boats, such as fast-attack craft, though these are typically used for law enforcement purposes.
The Air Force: The air force primarily consists of interceptors and bombers. The use primarily Russian planes, such as the MIG and SU series. Following the fall of the USSR they began designing and building their own aircraft, such as the FC-5 attack fighter.

WMDs: Azadliq has large chemical weapon stockpiles, though they have never used them. The USSR built a nuclear power plant in Azadliq and, as a result, Azadliq does have a small stockpile of uranium that can be used to develop nuclear weapons, though they do not have them currently. It does not have any biological weapons.

In the 9th century Vikings invaded French land and conquered Normandy, the Vikings and France would battle over land and slowly the Vikings would expand the land they own. At one point the Vikings conquered most of North Eastern France. The Vikings and France agreed to a stalemate, in which Normandy would keep its land and France wouldn’t have to waste any more resources on the Vikings for now. Then 60 years later, France launches another attack on Normandy. But the attack backfired horribly. Normandy quickly pushed through France and took nearly half of the country before the French surrendered to keep their land.
Just 17 years afterwards France launched another attack to regain some of their lost territory, which at first worked stupendously before it didn’t. Normandy retook their land and more. France was weak from the previous war and Normandy took advantage of it. Soon, France was just a page in a history book. Normandy defeated the odds, and not only kept their territory but also dominated over the French. Many centuries of war and trade would see Normandy’s territory shrink and expand. But to this day Normandy are still a huge piece of current history.
Normandy’s current president is Alexander Dubois. The government is a republic with a parliament with a total of 103 members.
