"What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness."

- John Steinbeck

Welcome to Reliquiae: Empire of Ice.

This is the OOC thread for discussion and applications to join this year's iteration-the first of it's kind! We hope that you join us in the City for our very first scenario!

Before going forwards, please review the Reliquiae Rules.

This year's scenario is set in a frozen Europe, founded by a ragtag group of Climate refugees from several nations, assembled through pure chance on a migration to the Equator. On their journey, however, their caravan took on severe winter weather and the conditions forced them to settle where they stood. Now they stand cold and confused in an unfamiliar place, standing on their last legs against an eternal winter. As the winter cold sets in, however, some are beginning to turn to the heated rivalries of their old nations to warm them in this stark reality...

The majority of the people capable collect scrap from the nearby remains of ruined cities while trying to avoid the mutated, mostly predatory life that now stalks the freezing remains of the world-namely bears and wolves, whose populations have exploded to the horror of those few humans who remain. Those who cannot leave for these ruins work mostly within the village, building and maintaining their poorly-made structures and ice-fishing. There are 68 people in the village, 26 of whom are children under 12. There are three structures in the settlement; A storehouse mostly stocked with scrap metal and material at the moment, and a long barracks in which all the people of the village live. The other building serves as a kitchen and dining hall, where there are two recovered wood-burning stoves and long tables made of scrap with hardly enough seating for all the children, much less all the people living there. Here, the people assemble when decisions must be made. Consensus is usually met, though there are no formal leaders-only a few skilled mediators and loud voices who typically ensure a decision is met and implemented. These are usually currently assembled to decide who will go on the next scrap run.

You may now send in applications! The IC thread should be ready sometime today, if not tomorrow morning.

This game operates on a turn system, in which the results of your decisions and actions that turn are revealed. You may do multiple things in a turn though keep in mind that each turn is only a week in game time and larger endeavors take time. Turn posts will include resources remaining gained and used, as well as deaths and births, the state of projects, and of course the outcome of everyone's actions. Here is an example of an end-of-turn post.

He has been anointed under Mersa and given new weapons and armor-as well as the Goddess's blessing. He can now be given a family name by the King, if he so wishes.

Now that is a shiny premise. Frostpunk merged with some GoT, aye?

That it is! At least for this scenario, but the premise of the game definitely borrows heavy from Frostpunk.

Extremely interesting. Will this RP be open to join after it begins or is it one of those be there at the start or don't be there at all deals?

Totally open until the end of the game! I have a hard limit of 30 players/scenario, but I really, really don't ever want to reach that-since it'd only allow for 16 turns.

Has this died off? It looks interesting...
Please Watch

Then I'll note a tag.
I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.
