Annie O’Cassidy
Monsters and Menschen
Poor Moira-Lee. She was fully conscious for the whole alien nightmare that was unfolding. Gilligan had just begun to awake, thanks in no small part to the active combat zone they were currently in. Annie kept herself firmly locked in the shadows with her cousins, with Gilligan on her back, a duffle back over her shoulder, and Moira in her arms. She was strong, but not that strong. She struggled to keep pace with the group when things sped up, and could feel the sweat accumulating. She felt disgusting and disgusted. More of her family was gone, and now all she had left were two children, her two little cousins. Every second, she was trying to temper her breathing and keep one terrible thought from even coming into her mind, but in trying to stop it, she already knew what it was.
Annie hadn’t seen her cousins in any of the vats, but she hadn’t seen a lot of things, since she was trying to make sure Moira saw as few of the horrors as possible. She couldn’t tell herself, at least not with full certainty, that her cousins weren’t also one of those clones. They didn’t seem affected by whatever had been done to Isaac, Alis, and the others, but then, they were children. How could she know? They were her cousins first and foremost, though. That’s what she knew for sure. With every fibre of her being, she knew they were family, no matter where they came from. And that’s what they’d be no matter what, even if that little nagging fear came true. Annie tried so hard not to think too hard, though. She could temper her breathing, but not her heartbeat. And with Moira clasped tightly to her chest, the little girl could feel Annie’s distress all the same, even if Annie wasn’t breathing quite as heavily as she probably should have been.
When Isaac burst through the wall, Gilligan was jerked awake. He yelped. Even though Annie was a shadow in the darkness, that didn’t stop her from worrying that they might have something to address that and come to harm her or her siblings. Gilligan was on the verge of wailing as Annie slipped from shadow to shadow to try and avoid as much of the conflict as possible. Annie tried to comfort him as well as she could, until Moira pulled herself a bit more and peaked over Annie’s shoulder at her younger brother. She whispered in her cousin’s ear, “It’s okay, Del,” and then started shushing Gilligan to try and calm him down. “Sissie’s here,” she murmured. This balance was only getting more delicate.
Cecil Nevverling-Wijgaants
Confounded Cloned Cunts
“Son of a bitch,” was all Cecil exclaimed when the wall was breached. He ducked behind cover and tried to recall Alis’ cat’s name, to see if he could summon it. A few tries, and there was no success. With a huff, he peaked out from behind the barricade and tried to get his bearings once again. He waited patiently next to one of the masked soldiers and then jabbed his fist through the barricade, aiming straight for the crotch of none other than Steve. He made contact and grinned as he pulled his arm back to its normal length.
Sally Lagadec
Clapback
Sally was quick to try and erect more barricades using her powers, though when the wall burst, she had little choice but to hide behind one herself. First, she tried to destabilise the beast’s stance by making the concrete foundations of the ground unsteady. Then, when that failed, probably on account of the creature’s sheer size, she turned her attention towards Alis. She was already such a pain; now she needed to be dealt with again. With a slam of her knee into the ground in her crouched position, Sally sent a slab of concrete under Alis’ feet to flip over itself to try and catch her and crush her feet so she could be dealt with properly.
