Eren Fritz

Eren nodded, then ran behind Atalia while taking side glances to see if Leo was keeping up. Then Harper, one of the friends of that kid who was trying to rally other superpowered kids to his side, made an appearance - Apparently, he had been wandering at night or trying to run away as well, with that last part being guessed from Harper’s attire.

As Leo already had the situation under control, he followed the next orders Atalia gave and ran towards Rashaad’s house, but not before shouting back the way he came, “Make sure Harp Seal is safe, Leo! We don’t want a kid’s blood accidentally on our hands!”

Picking up discarded stick on the way to Rashaad’s house, Eren managed to get there in time to see the disabled boy in question being attacked by soldiers and what seemed to be some otherworldly eel/worm-like thing, As Rashaad’s assailants were slowly getting free, Eren dropped his stick, took a combat knife - if there was any - from one of the soldiers’ belts, and cut at the worm biting Rashaad’s shoulder, hoping to save the other boy’s life.

As Maurice watched Jack phase through the wall, the would-be leader settled into an awkward silence. He had been proven wrong, yet couldn't quite bring himself to be gracious enough to accept it at the moment. Whatever Jack would say once he came back would solve the argument once and for all. As soon as the sophomore when through the wall, Maurice's thoughts were first invaded by a few seconds of static and a sharp headache setting in. To anyone watching Maurice, he visually winced as Newton's voice played into his mind.

"Maurice, I'm hoping you can hear me. Whatever you are doing, stop it now. You need to leave the town right now or you and everyone else in Prefeton is going to die before the day is over. You need to find the route out. It will be somewhere you aren't supposed to go. People will mysteriously appear and disappear there. You need to think fast and act faster as you won't get another shot at this. We'll try to meet you on the other side, but until then this is the last you'll hear from me. Godspeed, Major Tom."

The static and the headache was new, the message wasn't. Another warning to leave, this time likely more heastily sent by whatever organization was trying to get them out of the town. His first instinct was to reply, but, as the headache faded, he realized it was pointless.

"Son of a bitch," He murdered to himself after a sigh. Part of him was reluctant to speak again because they had no reason to believe him about Newton, though the group had been warming up to the idea of going back to town and striking the military base. Jack needed to get back as well, they wouldn't leave without him.

"Guys," he once again spoke up to talk to the crowd though he was noticably more sober than before. "We need to get moving as soon as Jack gets back, or we'll be in deep shit. The base has the way out, I think."

Leo Walker

Harper seemed to be quite stunned at his sudden appearance, not really speaking or moving at all. Was he in shock at the state of things? They would have to wait until later to figure all of that out. Quickly thinking up a plan, Leo spoke to Harper as he grabbed his hand. “I’m sorry if this is all a bit much and I’m very sorry if I’m invading your personal space, but we really need to get out of here if we want to stay alive much longer.”

Leo turned in the direction of Rashaad’s house, the same direction that Eren had run toward when he left the area, and began to travel from rooftop to rooftop with Harper by collapsing the distance between the buildings. It wasn’t exactly a straight path, but it was more silent than running along the road and would draw less attention from potential onlookers.

Once he finally got to the roof of a neighboring house, Leo crouched down with Harper to observe the situation while waiting on Atalia. This could get a bit hairy.

Everything is fishy

Nikolai shuddered a tiny bit as Allison gave him a fierce hug, as he was a itty tiny bit afraid that she was going to accidentally crush every bone in his body. He was not used to getting this close to a girl; perhaps this was his ever present anxiety spiking up once again. However, after a moment, he just relaxed and reciprocated Allison's tight embrace. This was a nice respite from the dire situation that was at hand, what with Tefford leaving them hanging in the sea and everyone fighting over literally everything. The wall, getting back to the island, the wall's thickness, whether it was all worth it or just a sham, and so and on.

What's worse, though, was that Allison had just literally covered him with octopus blood, as she didn't seem to place into consideration that she was awash all diver with black ichor from one tentacle that she had punched into utter oblivion. Oh, hell. Way to start a new relationship... but this is fine.

"I guess we're boyfriend and girlfriend then?"

"Yeah... you could say that.", he just said before giving her a light kiss, ignoring the fact that she was covered with octopus blood. Actually, that didn't matter now that they were both coated with black ichor. "So... back to the issue at hand, then, my love.

"We need to get moving as soon as Jack gets back, or we'll be in deep shit. The base has the way out, I think."

"Well.", Nikita the technopath said as he glanced at Jack still sticking his head into the wall. "Of course... If I wanted to have an experiment, I'll make it so that the only exit is the one place that can always have a maximum presence in. Hm. Makes sense. It's like Maze Runner. Makes purrfect sense..."

"Of course...", Erika just muttered from the corner as she balanced two little rain clouds on her hands, not bothering to look at anyone else. "Major Kong has been exuding bad vibes since day one... Nothing about that base seemed right."

Nikita was rather quiet after that, though he was mumbling to himself somewhat.

Meanwhile, Nikolai glanced over at Jack... who was still looking through the wall. "Alright... Maybe you have been in there for a little too long. We better get going..."

Jack Brekker

It was beautiful, in a way, the cosmos scattered before him. Almost beautiful enough to make him forget the burning sensation in most of his exposed body. He drew back quickly, falling down onto his back in his haste. That was definitely space. And things were definitely not fucking alright.

“Alright everyone, not to cause any panic, but I’m almost 90% certain that outside of that wall is space. Aren’t you oh so glad we didn’t break through?”

He continuously rubbed his temples from his place seated on the floor as he said all this. Apparently, exposure to the harshest environment known to man gave one killer headache.

Ascot Rider

Ascot nodded at Maurice’s words, saying, “Understood,” and to Jack, he said, “Let’s have Nikolai seal the hole, then. After that, we go to the military base. We hit hard, hit fast, and then finally find out what’s happening with us.”

Hey we're in space!

“Alright everyone, not to cause any panic, but I’m almost 90% certain that outside of that wall is space. Aren’t you oh so glad we didn’t break through?”

It took Nikolai a few moments to process what Jack had just said. They were in space. In mother****ing space. "Uh... wait... what the hell?! That doesn't make any bloody sense... I distinctly remember going to the international airport in New York State and then flying to St. Petersburg after that. We stayed in the house of our relatives, and all the activities that come with that. Right, Nikita?"

"Yeah.", Nikita replied as he looked towards the wall. "That's so surreal. God... damn it. Cyka blyat. We were even speaking to them through Google Meet a few weeks ago... this sounds like something else..."

"The Matrix?"

"Eh, kind of. Was everyone that doesn't have powers some kind of equivalent of Agent Smiths? But then..."

“Let’s have Nikolai seal the hole, then. After that, we go to the military base. We hit hard, hit fast, and then finally find out what’s happening with us.”

Nikolai just winked a little at Ascot as he sent out a torrent of cold air from his now bloodstained hands, coalescing into a layer of solid ice that covered both the tiny hole and the area around it for good measure. He huffed a little bit as the fighting from earlier had drained a bit of his energy, but he was feeling a lot better now. Quietly, he held on to Allison's hand, and gazed at the others. "I fully expect that we will have to hurt some folks on the way. Maybe even worse... well. Let's just do what we have to do."

Allison Clark

Allison flinched back at the touch of the kiss that Nikolai just planted on her. Blushing heavily, she looked away nervously, turning her body 90 degrees from him.

" Whoa! Umm...t-that was... unexpected. Wow uhh....yeah. " Allison stammered accompanied by nervous chuckling as her mind raced.

It was her first kiss and she didn't know how to process it. His close proximity that turned the usual cold air from his powers warm and cozy. The softness of his lips on that spit second touch gave her strange feelings she had never felt. Unable to deal with it, Allison avoided eye contact with Nikolai to prevent further strange feelings.

Seeing Jack out of the corner of her eye fall on his back away from the hole snapped Allison back into reality. Looking at the hole in the wall, all she saw was pitch black darkness. Seeing no light or any definitive objects from where she stood, Allison wondered what was going on. Then came Jack's explanation of what he saw.

" What?!" Allison exclaimed, unable to comprehend what she had just heard. " Space?! How the fuck are we in space?! When? How?" Allison sent out a torrent of questions, none easy to answer. Her demeanor and body language was once again at anger and confusion as she tried to wrap her head around the revelation. Then came the realization that Allison would have gotten them all killed if they had gone with her plan.

" Stupid! Stupid! We could have all died. " Allison said as she aggressively facepalmed herself. It was obvious she felt extreme guilt for wanting to go with a plan that, in hindsight, could have been disastrous for them.

Allison, feeling Nikolai grab her hand, looked down at her hand and then back at Nikolai. Once again, she felt warm around them and the touch brought some find of comfort just like their hug. Calming down, Allison listened to the rest of the group as they explained the plan. Apparently, they were all going to the military base now to escape. As much as it made her nervous, the base seemed like the only way out now. She wasn't sure how they were going to leave if they were in space now, but they needed unity now with the stakes even higher than before.

" Listen..." Allison cut in, her aggressive voice bringing everyone's attention. "...if we are going to do this, and we ARE doing this, we can't hesitate to throw a strike. My experience has always been that if you hesitate, you get hit. I don't know how that will correlate to actual combat, but there has to be similarities, right?"

Harper Holiday

Harper was indeed stunned by Leo's sudden appearance, actually shooting backwards with surprising speed when he did. Once he realised though that whoever this stranger was was not there to hurt him, he quickly relaxed, though his heart carried on pounding--almost like a bass drum.. The kid was just about to ask Leo what they were going to do now and furthermore how he managed to appear on the same roof as Harper, but then Leo had taken him by the hand and suddenly they were moving. Somehow, over great distances in such a strange way.. A way that confused Harper to the point that it dizzied him.

Harper's dinner and that cake were almost on their way up when fortunately, Leo brought them to a stop on another roof. Harper collapsed forwards, his arms shooting forward as he front-flipped over onto a lawn littered with garden gnomes. The air was knocked out of him momentarily, and he remained on the ground for a few seconds. Finally sitting up, he gulped loudly, heaving out a few rasping breaths before straightening out and vigorously shaking his head. What the heck was that?! he thought, shooting a bewildered look up at Leo and then past him, as a couple people led a procession of angry furwads down the street to god-knows-where...

Scrambling to his feet, Harper pressed himself against a wall behind him, breathing heavily. I don't know what that was, but I don't think I want to do it again!.. He wasn't aware of it then, but he quickly regained his stability, and soon his breathing normalised. Panting, he pointed at Leo as the older boy might have turned back to face him.

"Wh-Who are you, huh?" he asked with a pout, starting to get red in the face..

Connor Vale

"What"? Connor spoke dumbfoundedly. Jack saw space as in outer space instead of more ocean. But, why... why space and does that mean.... Connor was going over the implications of where they truly are and wonder how in frack did no one noticed that they were trapped in outer space. How can anyone move an entire island from the earth to outer space and no one knew this? It was unbelievable really, why would anyone do this, and the more he thought about it the more he came to the conclusion that perhaps the U.S military that he thought was bad guys with what has gone on. Maybe they were not what they said they are. How was the U.S military capable of something like this. Who are these people and what is their goal with all of this?

Connor snapped back to reality when he heard Allison say how they all could have died. He looked at her and then back the hole in the wall. Yeah, he simply said in his head. If they had gone with it and tore the wall down... they have been sucked out into outer space. He started to feel guilty about how he did almost get them killed but, how could have they knew that on the other side of the wall was space. Nothing had indicated that there were in space or anything like that. At least that is what he told himself and Connor still feel guilty over it.

Turning back towards the others and he listened to what the others said about what they have to do. "So it is all or nothing right?" Can't hold back when we reach the base and we are doing this together as a team". Connor took a deep breath, he was not entirely sure he was up to the task. But, what choice do they have and his choice seems obvious even if he is kinda scared of breaking into a military base. "Let's see what is at the base and see if there is a way out of this place".

By the time Eren actually managed to run to the other side of town the soldiers were already freed from Rashaad's tentacles and were on their feet and alert again. Rushing in without doing any reconnaissance work and without any backup went about as well as one could reasonably expect - he got tasered in the chest within a couple of seconds of setting foot in Rashaad's back garden, leaving him a writhing, powerless and in a lot of pain. A couple of others moved to stand over him, ready to hit him again if he looked like he was going to try anything.

The only thing he accomplished was to cause the eel-type creature to pause for a moment, apparently undecided on which of the two boys it was going to attack. Hopefully that would give

Let's goooooo

Nikolai had a slight smirk on his face when Allison had turned away from him due to... well, embarrassment from getting kissed by him. Hmm. This was their first time... first relations and first kiss. Quite wild of a day, isn't it...

"Let's see what is at the base and see if there is a way out of this place".

"Yeah, yeah, let's just go already.", Nikolai said to no one in particular as he glanced towards the thin sheet of ice that he used to cover the small hole on the wall. "This won't last long. Sooner or later it's going to melt... and who can tell what happens if we stick around a wall with a gap that leads to the vacuum of space. We should get going."

He tilted his head, looking at Alyssa, and then everyone else. "Shall we go now, yah?"

Alyssa

"Yeah, sure."

Jack's revelation brought out a bunch of speculation in the group. One of the twins even mentioned the Matrix. Sifting through all she knew, she decided to chime in, as she steered the boat back towards land.

"So, I've been thinking. Obviously, someone has gone through the trouble of recreating the entire island, down to the tiniest detail, and sticking us in it. It can't be a Matrix thing, or else we wouldn't have found this dome, and we wouldn't have to seal the cracks in it. As for people talking to family off the island, they've probably recreated other parts of the world with those people in it, just to keep up a realistic charade for the rest of us. They've obviously got some kind of memory manipulation tech. Environmental recreation and all that jazz, too. The big kicker is advanced space travel. Definitely something nobody on Earth officially has. But that comes with a whole host of reasons that would make it cheaper to just stage everything here on Earth even if someone from Earth had advanced space tech. Especially with memory manipulation. Which they obviously didn't do to us, for some reason or another. God, the moment you tug on one thread, the more threads unravel. I could spend days just standing here waxing philosophic about their technological capabilities and what it says about their motivations. Obviously our powers have something to do with it. The plague was definitely a cover for getting us onto the holodeck of evil. How else do you keep people on an island from poking a hole in your dome? Convince them the outside world is filled with an existential threat, and the island needs to quarantine itself. And they obviously want us for something. Likely evaluating how compliant we are, how good at fending off threats are, the extent of our powers, shit like that. Hell, they probably already know we're here, probably already know about the hole in the dome, definitely know about the Kraken and the Furbies."

Aly wanted to say more. Could say more, a lot more, like how the space environment Jack saw could be another trick, just like fakePref is. But she cut herself off after realizing just how badly she was rambling at this point.

The boat
Kristen Lane

They had breached the barrier. How there had been a military-grade barrier here was a thought Kristen didn't want to consider. But seeing as she was the lone person taking pictures of what she was seeing, she continued her assumed role as group photographer and archivist.

And then...

Reality as she knew it exploded into tiny depressed shards in her head when Jack announced that he could see nothing but outer space. But the camera didn't lie. As she was taking pictures of the procedure, she got it too. Kristen felt a dread in her that she had never felt before. As if she was floating in a sea of distortion and fog. Stumbling, Kristen switched over to video on her phone. She recorded what was happening and the conversations taking place. She wasn't centering on any one person, and wasn't keeping track of who got in the video and who didn't. But she made certain to show both where they were - on a boat out in the ocean, the barrier they had run into, and what was on the other side.

Kristen spoke aloud, for recording purposes, "We are on a boat roughly 10 miles west of the island of Prefeton near the eastern coast of Maine in the United States. We came out here sailing. But instead of reaching the main land, we ran into this barrier. When we were able to break through, this is what was outside." She got closer and tried to get as much of the view outside into space as well as she could. And it was definitely space. Air was leading out, and the gravity pull was noticeable...

"This is not a fake. This is not fiction. This is not a set up. This is for real. That's outer space! A barrier set up in the middle of the water and outside of it is outer space! What the hell is going on?!"

Kristen stopped the video after several of the comments, especially from Nikolai, Allison, Alyssa, and Connor, but did not video Nikolai's ice powers, focusing her camera instead on the people on the boat.

Kristen nodded, thankful that the ice shield was up. "Allison, I think you and I should get back to where we were when you were holding me and I was helping kick us out here. I'm getting kind of creeped out just being here, if that makes any difference." And Kristen went to the stern of the boat, ready to provide some more jet-fueled boost to their boat.

Cecil Nevverling-Wijgaants
Mirror Mayhem

Unlike most of his peers, Cecil was quite content to return home and mind his business instead of staying any longer outside in the cold. His drive home had been rather quiet, for the dangers of the night had not yet revealed themselves by the time he arrived safely home. In fact, he had found time to greet his father and even have a small snack before heading upstairs for bed. As he tossed his day clothes aside, he took time to look proudly at his flat chest before buttoning up his bright pink pyjama shirt, and then noticed that his peach fuzz was beginning to look a bit ratty, in his opinion. So, after taking a leak while brushing his teeth, he went to grab his razor. As he held it in his hand as the water warmed up, he looked at his reflection.

“One day you’ll be worth something,” he softly said as he touched his face. He blinked and dropped his razor. He winced, but stopped before he went to pick it up. With a wide-eyed, nearly lunatic smile, he blinked again. There, on his face, was an immaculate little moustache, not unlike the one the original Gomez Addams had. He proudly stood up and stuck his chest out and felt his stache again.

“Consider me corrected…” he murmured.

He took another moment to admire himself, and then crouched to pick up his razor and put it away. Cecil paused for a moment. It finally occurred to him that he was bleeding. And little razor nicks always bled profusely, as the stain on the bathroom rug affirmed. He put a bit of pressure on the wound with a folded square of toilet paper, and then rinsed his razor.

Just as he shut off the tap, however, he saw eyes in his bathroom window.

He knew those eyes.

They were the ones of the supposed dream creature.

He stumbled back into his room just in the nick of time, for the creature soon rammed itself into the window and began sniffing the carpet. It then looked back at Cecil, who was backing up as fast as he could. It leapt forward, but Cecil grabbed the garbage bag full of bras that he was preparing to throw out, and tossed it into the creature. He could do nothing but run now, as the bag only stalled it long enough for him to turn around. He leapt into the wall, and slammed his toes into the corner of the wall and floor to splice right through it.

On the other side of the wall, he felt a cold chill and then a number of pricks. He’d been lucky enough to land in the rosebush outside the living room window. He looked back for a moment, and then out to the driveway. His father’s car wasn’t there. His stepmother’s car was gone too. His mixture of intense relief and intense fear was steeped in adrenaline. He barely had time to wipe a confused tear from his eye before spotting the state of his car.

It was in the process of being shredded by the purple monsters. All Cecil could do was run. And he in that moment knew it. He sprung out of the bush, and leapt the fence. But as he leapt up, he found that in fact, his legs were stretching to give him a bit more spring to clear it in one go. As he made impact with the ground, he felt a familiar feeling on his chest. As he ran, he looked down for only a second. They were back. Had he traded one good for two things that were far worse? He couldn’t handle the question. His mind was set towards one thing: Getting away.

He was practically hugging himself in a desperate attempt to hide away what he loathed as little tears tore out from his eyes. He was sprinting like he never had before. His insides felt like they were collapsing, on fire, or maybe both. He was wheezing wildly. He was jumping fence after fence, running straight from where he had come to to wherever he was going.

He leapt another fence. As he jumped, he saw something in the next yard over almost before he heard it. A taser. He stopped his one-direction sprint, and backtracked just a bit. He stretched himself, and was able to get on the roof from the front of the house in order to peek over the crown. He felt a cold chill run down his spine as the heat from running began to wear off. All he had was thin pyjamas, and all he saw was Rashaad’s plight. Here he was, in the cold, possibly pursued still by the purple monsters, all out in the cold in pyjamas that were made for keeping one warm inside an already heated house and that did a markedly poor job of making his returned chest look acceptably flat, and now seeing a new monster and two of his peers in a terrible situation. Things were only getting worse.

The Boat

Whatever had attacked from the water before was strangely dormant on the route back. Either the teens had injured it sufficiently for the creature to flee to wherever it had come from, or, perhaps more disturbingly, it was only interested in people moving away from the island, almost like the town itself was some kind of vast organism resisting the attempts to leave. Exactly what happened to the group next though was entirely dependent upon where Alyssa chose to make land.

One way or another, it was going to be a long night...

Leo and Harper didn't have two long to wait after arriving at the rendezvous. There was the sound of rapid movement, then Atalia dropped down alongside them, breathing hard, "I think I lost them a few blocks back, sprinted off, then dropped back into the shadows, then went the other way once the pack had passed," she explained, "Though I can't say for how long. What's going on here?"

There were five soldiers. The last one having seemingly died, and of course the strange, black, eel-type creature which had uncurled itself from Rashaad's neck and was slithering across the ground towards Erin.

Leo looked at Atalia, trying to figure out how to deal with the situation and Harper’s extreme distress at the same time. He could only focus on one though, and that was that Eren and Rashaad were probably about to get killed if they didn’t do anything, “Eren jumped in to try and save Rashaad and, even though he tried to help him, ended up in the same situation essentially. We probably don’t have much longer before they meet their end. I can take a two or maybe three of them out before they even realize than anybody new has arrived if I use my powers right.”

Rashaad, meanwhilem never knew what hit him. One moment, he had been holding his own against six less-than-humans. And then, the black eel that somehow reflected enough light in the night sky to see it. Rashaad tried to guard himself with his psionic tentacles, but the eel was fast and agile. It slipped through the waving psionic limbs and slithered its way through the air to him. One bite was like swimming in LSD. And he went down. But despite the fog and the callaidoscope of differing blurriness that obscured his vision, Rashaad could make out people coming. And talking. And was that... Atalia? He tried to speak, but the only thing that came out of his mouth was a mix between garbled speech and a muffled grunt.

Eren had never been tasered before, and he was still an eighteen-year old male who had not experienced significant hardship in his life. Nevertheless, he tried to squirm away from the eel-like thing racing towards him, knowing full well that should it get to him, he'd suffer more than under the taser. Tears fell from his eyes, involuntarily, as he considered that it might be the end. Guess this was what came from lacking any powers besides extrordinary blood production?

"What? What the hell is going on there?" Atalia replied in a hoarse whisper. She hadn't peered over the wall yet. She bounced up on her haunches looking like she was about to, then seemed to think better if it and instead asked, "Why does Rashaad need rescuing? No... scrap that, from what? And do you have a plan to deal with it?"

Leo thought for a moment, trying to formulate the best possible attack plan he could think of before replying, “There’s several soldiers surrounding them along with some weird, alien worm thing. Rashaad already got bit by it and it seems like it injected him with something. It’s one nasty worm. If anything, that should be second on priorities after getting Rashaad and Eren out of there.”

"Soldiers? My sister is a soldier," Atalia paused, then shook her head, frowning, "Do any of you have a power that can cause a distraction and draw some of them away? If so you do that and we'll try to get the drop on the others and squash the worm." She reached for her quiver, subconsciously thumbing through the three arrows she had left.

Shaking his head, Leo spoke. “I’m only good for combat and moving around quickly. We could try and I dunno, throw a rock to make a big sound in a direction different from ours so that the soldiers look away from us.”
As he spoke, Leo conjured a dagger in one of his hands, getting ready to dispatch soldier and worm alike.

"Alright, but keep calm Taz, I don't know what's going on here and I'm going to try to stop any harm coming to our friends," Atalia glanced at the knife thoughtfully, "but I also know I'd rather not go down for murder."

Leo nodded, agreeing that there wasn’t any reason in particular the soldiers had to die, “I can’t control how much I cut with these weapons, but I can control where they get cut at least. What do you think? The least damage I can do is take off fingers if I aim well enough.”

During the Atalia's and Leo's planning there had been a faint glow brewing off to the side. As they worked out their thoughts and ideas the glow grew brighter and char seemed to sneak it's way through the breeze. The source finally became visible from there position as a teen engulfed in red and orange flames running down the street leaving a trail of smouldering steps and small fires oops . "Damn these LSD rodents, I can't lose them" Their run took them closer and closer to Rashaad's house causing their inadvertent path of minor arson to follow close behind causing a nice light show.

The sudden light show finally made Atalia risk a look over the top of the wall, even as two of the soldiers broke from the group to investigate it, "This looks like our chance," Atalia whispered, "And try not to cut bits off people. Disable, don't maim."

The person on fire was quite the spectacle to behold. It was something Leo had never seen before, but then again, he had seen a lot of new things and met new people tonight too. That being the case, he still was no stranger to times of opportunity and conjured a dagger in his other hand before speaking, “I’ll try to take care of weapons or cut tendons or something. They made need some surgery or something but eventually they’ll be fine.”

Leo stepped backwards away from the wall and looked up toward a nearby rooftop behind the soldiers before vanishing from where he was while simultaneously appearing on the rooftop without so much as a sound. He waited for Atalia to get into whatever position he desired before looking and nodding at her - a signal he was starting on his end. Leo vanished from the rooftop, appearing behind two soldiers and sliced through their Achilles’ tendon to immobilize them before throwing one of his daggers at the worm in an attempt to kill it before it got to Eren and promptly vanishing up to a different rooftop. He had been quick and as silent as he could possibly be, but they were in deep now.

Meanwhile, Rashaad's vision was beginning to clear, but only a bit. The fog swirling around in his head wasn't exactly gone, but it was beginning to dissipate. The figures closest to him were the less-than men that he had engaged before. That much was clear. Those off a distance was harder to make out, but Rashaad could have sworn that one of them was Atalia. Not the one that seemed to be on fire that had just moved closer (?). But if that was Atalia over there, then he knew she would be smart.

If only he could think straight! Trying to get his mind out of the fog, Rashaad began to do his best at using his power. Three small and shaky psionic tentacles emerged and then soon after, dissolved. He was going to need a lot more focus to use his power right now.

Meanwhile, nearby, Harper was also thinking he would need bigger cojones to use his powers and use them properly. Wait, we're.. What? There was hardly any time to ask questions. Apparently he needed to do something, but he wasn't sure what. And before he knew it, that guy who'd teleported them both vanished once again after announcing what he intended to do.. "U-uah..?" was all that came out of Harper as he turned to Atalia with uncertainty. He felt a little bit safer with her, though he didn't know her all too well. "Uh, are we.. Going up against those guys? This seems like a bad idea.."

While awaiting an answer, Harper cautiously poked his head out from behind the wall, hoping his golden hair wouldn't be too noticeable. He swallowed hard, dropping back behind cover like a mole in a whacking game as two of the soldiers broke away from the rest. What the heck was he to do? He didn't know how to fight, and he wasn't even that good at using his powers yet! "But.. I need to try.." he mumbled to himself, bringing his hands up to his face.

"Three of them, three of us... give me a moment," Atalia ran at a crouch along the wall, keeping below the line of the wall before vaulting across to the next garden. There was a slight pause, then she stood up, an arrow notched to her bow. She drew, paused for a split second, then released, sending an arrow thudding into the back of a soldier's calf.

The man went down with a yell of pain, clutching at the aluminium shaft embedded in his leg as the other two wheeled to face her, drawing their tasers on her as their attention was shifted firmly in her direction.

The figure stopped its approach as the soldiers met them and the flames flickered off revealing a young man covered in steam from head to toe. He raised his hands in surrender, "Hey, don't shoot I promise I can explain...?" He trailed off as he took a peak at the action behind them. "Jesus Christ what the hell is going on?" He gave a dry swallow and backpedaled from the two advancing soldiers. "I don't think they need soldiers for just a wild party call, haha?" He felt his body starting to heat up again, ready to burst into flames despite the tenderness of his skin. Why are these guys so creepy

Eren finally managed to get up and pick up the stick he had been carrying to this godforsaken place and swing it at the Eel-worm thingy, hopefully batting it aside long enough for him to say to the steaming pyromancer, "Those guys are after us - Incapacitate them!" Then he resumed trying to hit the Eel-worm monster with his stick.

Leo watched as one of the guards got impaled through the leg by Atalia. He was a bit surprised by how well she had aimed for the leg, but then again tonight was a night of many surprises it seemed. While the guards had their attention on Atalia, Leo vanished back down to the ground behind them once again before cutting their Achilles’ tendons as well. The blades made no noise as they sliced through their targets, simply seeming to just move through them instead of cutting.

The guards were down, now it was time to take care of that weird worm thing that bit Rashaad a little bit ago. Leo vanished to its side and skewered through it and the ground below it.

With the soldiers imobilised and rolling around in pain, Atalia rushed to Rashaad's wheelchair. She dropped to her knees, one hand reaching out to touch his cheek, "What have they done to you?" For a moment she was completely focuessed on Rashaad, though it quickly seemed to dawn on her that they were not out of the woods yet, "We should move somewhere quiet until everyone is back on their feet."

Eren was still wincing in pain - Tasers hurt. "So let's go!"

Rashaad looked up, the clouds of fog in his mind parting gradually. Suddenly, after some distressing noises of shouting and so on, Atalia was there. She was alive! And she was caring for him. He tried to speak, and all that came out was "Not real people..."

Mustering his inner strength, Rashaad focused with all his mind and summoned psionic tentacles, launching them towards remaining the soldiers and the eel. Grappling them and binding them up again as they had been, this time the eel was caught too, despite trying to wriggle free. Breathing hard, Rashaad tried to keep his focus... if only he could concentrate with all that fog in his mind!

Just then, the back door to Rashaad's house opened. A tall, muscular black man with short cropped black hair having spots of gray stood in the doorway. He had a large weapon in his hand, something like a rifle only with a grey metallic cylindrical casing, several large rectangular outjuttings, and no obvious exit area for a bullet to leave the rounded end of the weapon.
Surveying the scene, the man scowled and said to himself, "They said they were going to tell me..."

Then the man raised the strange weapon, fired at the soldiers. Then, after apparently readjusting a setting, he raised the weapon at the eel. All shots hit, and the men and the eel shriveled up to a crisp. The man looked at Rashaad and his face softened. Rashaad's tentacles faded and he was left slumped in his chair with Atalia nearby.

Then the tall man told everyone to get in the house. Now. And by the way he held the weapon, not pointing it at them, but ready to use in case anything else came out.

After all, Captain John Pennel was not a man to be trifled with. "We have a lot of things to talk about." He pulled Rashaad's chair and brought his son inside...

Alyssa

As Alyssa drove away from the edge of the dome, all she could think about was the lack of Kraken attack. She hoped for Tobias/Tefford's sake that he wasn't distracting the Kraken as food. But she couldn't think of anything they could do to save him. He signed his own suicide note, unfortunately. Soon, land began to draw near, and she faced a decision between the docks they had commandeered the boat from, or just running aground on the beach.

"Anyways, I'm pretty sure the people we ran away from at the docks are still there, or have called the cops or military. So I'm just gonna ram the boat onto the beach, and hope for the best. You might want to avoid the bow." she called out politely to the rest of the group, as she steered towards the beach.

There and Back Again

"Anyways, I'm pretty sure the people we ran away from at the docks are still there, or have called the cops or military. So I'm just gonna ram the boat onto the beach, and hope for the best. You might want to avoid the bow." she called out politely to the rest of the group, as she steered towards the beach.

Nikolai (and maybe Allison too, if she listened to Alyssa) quickly moved away from the bow as their helmswoman told them to stay away from the edge. Of course they all needed to stay away from the bow; lose your footing while standing there while running the whole boat aground in a beach could mean you falling headfirst towards the sands below. If that happened, one would taste sand; not just any sand, but wet, coarse sand that is sticky and gets everywhere. And maybe break a bone or two in the process.

Once the boat had been run aground, Nikita jumped down from the railings of the vessel, landing his sneakers on the cool sands of the beach. The breeze was nice, but it was of no comfort knowing that this whole place was encased inside an invisible dome that apparently led to the dark, foreboding vacuum of space. They had sailed away from the island seeking answers to their predicament at the behest of their headmaster, and they only got more questions in return. Worse still was that Tefford was no longer with them. Did the Kraken get fed just now?

Erika came down from the boat next, still carrying that look on her face that didn't emanate any emotion in particular. One could say that she was just having a poker face. Either way, while one might notice, there were a thousand things going on in her mind; and to be exact, not one was having a particular first place at the moment, other than getting answers and the truth.

It would take the icy Sapohznik brother a bit more time to go on, as he turned to Allison and held both her hands. He looked like he was going to ask something, something heavy. It took him a moment to start, but it was a very solemn request.

"Allison.", he began, looking down at the floor for a second. "If... if in case, anything happens to me during our... next action... please watch out for my brother. Not that I think that anything will happen to me, but. uh, just in case, yeah. Okay?"

And then a forehead kiss... even though a tip toe was needed.

Rosalind Llywelyn

Rosie was walking along the beach late that night, just more to have something to do than anything. The pay-per-view on Saturday was a huge disappointment, and the show earlier tonight didn't do much better. She had been looking forward to something entertaining to be a beacon of hope in a dark, pandemic ridden time but it failed to even do that. Lately it seemed like the whole world had gone crazy, and nothing made sense anymore. Fresh ocean air was supposed to be good at clearing your head, but it didn't seem to be doing much to help the girl. She watched some boats out in the distance for a while, and lost track of time. She was considering going home when... wait a second... that boat's getting awfully close to the shore! she thought. It was going to beach itself at this rate, it didn't look like it had enough time to stop. Shit, are they okay? Are they all dead? Did they die of the plague?

She ran down to where the boat looked like it would hit to see if anyone on board needed medical help that she was most certainly not qualified to give, but you probably get credit for trying, right? The redhead cautiously approached the spontaneously moored vessel and called up to anyone onboard. "Hello? Are you... Is anyone hurt? Is this a classic Ghost Ship Full Of Cursed Pirates situation? You have to tell me if it is!" A couple people jumped off and Rosie stepped back a little out of instinct, in case she needed to fight back against ghost pirates.

Collab post - (Co-written by Dyelli Beybi, Frisct the II, Talchyon, Dragos Bee, Fegun and Kylantha)
Rashaad's house
Capt. John Pennel, Rashaad, Atalia, Eren, Leo, Alterrio, Kalos, Harper

The tall, muscular man brought the slumped Rashaad into the house. The doorway opened right into their kitchen. A special island sat in the middle of the kitchen with some bar stools on one side and a space that Rashaad's chair could be squeezed under lay right on it. Capt. Pennel wheeled his barely conscious son to the kitchen island, and invited the others to have a seat. Taking the weapon he had just fired and strapping it over his shoulder, the man opened the fridge and took out a pitcher of cold water, then got some plastic disposable cups out and grabbed one. Filling his cup halfway, he took a big drink.

Speaking to the group, the man said, "You may have guessed. I'm Capt. John Pennel. And you have questions."

Eren said, "Yes. What are these powers and how did we gain them? Modification by the military, I assume?"

Capt. Pennel took a long swig and said, "That's not the question I was expecting first. It's a long story."

“The military?” Leo made an inquisitive face. “Both of my parents are in the force. I didn’t think much of it, but now that you mention it it could be possible”

But Capt. Pennel shook his head. "No. That's not it. It might look like military. This is completely not a military operation. Trust me. I'd know."

"All right," Eren said, "What exactly are those beasts? Are we about to be hunted down? And finally, what can you tell us on short notice?"

“Wait, I know we’re all serious but can we talk about how awesome that was?!” Alterio gushed up and down for a moment before settling down into an uncomfortable sit. “But it’s not really the time for it haha?”

Capt. John Pennel looked at Alterrio with a mixture of disdain and impatience, before answering Eren. "Think of those beasts as a training exercise. Those beasts aren't hunters, and they won't kill you unless their handlers want them to. Which they don't. But they were purposely sent to draw you out and draw these latent abilities you seem to have, out too."

Eren nodded. "I see. And who are those handlers? For that matter, who are the brain-worms infesting those other 'soldiers'?"

Leo watched as Eren continued to asking questions, many of which he wanted to ask himself. Now was not the time to cause unnecessary noise though, as Pennel seemed to have all the answers they needed.

Capt. Pennel's eyes hardened. "Those 'brain-worms' are bad, bad things. You saw that the one soldier it came out was more like an empty shell? There's a lot more where that came from."

Atalia had been pacing restlessly the whole time she'd been inside. It was partly because she figured there wasn't much time and partly because this was her boyfriend's dad and she had no idea what he thought of her. She twitched the curtain peering out into the gloom, "How long until they find us here?" she asked, "I'm guessing minutes at best? How do we escape?"

Harper was thinking the same as he sat down, watching Atalia walk around. He was feeling a bit weak and was still somewhat confused. But he'd at least listened halfheartedly to Mr. Pennel's explanation.

So.. That's their purpose..? It sort of made sense to him. These crazy situations made them feel frightened.. Spurred them to action.. Triggered the development of their powers! But.. What for? He tilted his head, a worried look plastered on his face.

Capt. Pennel's hard gaze turned to one of worry at Atalia's wisdom. "Right. We don't have long. Everybody, grab whatever food we have and at least a water bottle before we head out. Either front or back is going to be watched, so we'll probably meet some opposition on the way." He threw the fridge door open and started passing out water bottles to everyone. He then went to the cupboards and started throwing as many cans as he could in a backpack he had nearby.

About this time, Rashaad began to stir. The delirium effects of the eel's bite was wearing down, but he still felt drained. Looking up and seeing his dad stockpiling the food as quick as he was, as well as Atalia pacing around and all the others in his house, Rashaad knew it couldn't be good.

"Dad? What about Mom? And Tremaine? And Keisha? The twins?!"

Capt. Pennel stilled a moment at his son's voice. Turning around, Capt. Pennel had a strange expression on his face. "I made sure that they were going to be ok, son. They got sent to a... safe place. I took care of everything..."

Technically, most of that was a lie. He had taken care of everything, that much was true. And where they were was now a lot safer for everyone. It's just that in order to make this safe space, Capt. Pennel had to fire his unique weapon at them all, and turn their bodies into piles of ash and debris upstairs. But Rashaad and his friends wouldn't understand right now...

"Any last questions before we leave?"

Eren was already grabbing water, before saying, "Do you have an extra gun, sir? I feel naked without one..."

All of this news made Leo really think about his life up until now. Were his parents really his birth parents? Or was he just captured after birth and raised to believe nothing was amiss? Either way, Leo had many conflicting feelings about this whole situation.

He then turned to Capt. Pennel and asked as he grabbed himself a bottle of water; “If they aren’t military, then what exactly are they? I’ve been here my whole life and was raised by two military personnel. This is making me confused...”

Alterio stewed in his shame as he got to work sealing his lips with the task at hand. He wanted to add something that was starting to nag at him ever since he exhibited this ability. “Guess to add to...what’s your name, sorry? I guess it doesn’t matter but to weigh on the topic of who, why? I’m no uh scientific idea?process? Method? Method thing guy but wouldn’t be easier and a bit dark to well control young kids for this? not that I’m complaining about these powers ” he finished organizing the supplies he did grab paying heavy mind not to hoard the water even though his organs felt like a churning forge.

"You're easier to control than a full adult but still pretty much fully physically formed," Atalia supplied. Seeming to suddenly be aware she had said more than she intended, she glanced about the group, shrugged awkwardly, "Or that's what I'd guess."(edited)

Alterio wasn’t expecting such a fast answer and a good one at that. He felt a blush and stupidity crawl over his cheeks, “when you put it like that...it seems so obvious... haha.” He cleared his throat and went back to working talk about bad first impressions on everyone . He elected to stand against a wall out of the way till time was up, downing his first water in the process.

As he expected, there were a ton of questions. Eren's was practical. Alterrio's was speculative. And Atalia had answered that quite impressively. He made a mental note to keep track of her if he could.

But Leo's question was the worst. Frantic and worried. Could easily upset a lot of things if he didn't answer carefully. It was not the kind of question he could really do justice to at the moment.

Capt. Pennel went with Alterio's first. His answer came as he was rummaging through his odds and ends drawer, pulling out a notepad, some pens, a few kitchen magnets, a corkscrew, a can opener and some heavy duty steel kitchen scissors. Throwing them into his bag, he addressed the teen as his eyes and mind were focused elsewhere.

"I'm Capt. John Pennel, Rashaad's dad, like I said. I didn't catch everything you were trying to say, but I'll just say these guys have a pretty damn effective way of doing things. Which is why we need to get out of here."

To Eren, Capt. Pennel finished packing the things in his bag and cinched it shut. Then turning around, he slid a weapon across the table, with a box. "Here's a revolver. There's a box of bullets, too. Safety's on. Don't aim that at anyone unless you intend to use it."

The frantic Leo, Capt. Pennel addressed last. This time, he turned to look the boy directly in the eyes, his face softening and his eyes trembling with unspoken thoughts. Terrors, perhaps, of things he had seen previously? "That's a question we don't have time to answer right now, about your parents. I wish we could. I'd tell you what I know - but to do it proper requires a lot more time and safety than we have right now. If I start, we may not make it out of here. I'm sorry. I really, really am." And breathing out heavily, he took a few deep breaths to calm his trembling.

Then taking Rashaad's chair, Capt. Pennel led them through the house to his attached garage. Getting them all into his van with the specialized seat, they took off.

Annie O’Cassidy
Shadows in the Eyes of Monsters

Annie clamped one hand tightly around Gilligan’s mouth as she ushered Moira-Lee onto her back. She used a belt to help bind her cousin to her.

“Whatever you do, don’t let go,” she whispered to the young girl, “Please.”

“Ok,” her cousin whispered in response. She clung tightly around Annie’s neck and waist with her arms and legs, strapped on with a belt. She pulled the heavy duffle bag around herself and her cousins, binding them firmly together. And then, she faded back into the darkness, sliding slowly across the wall silently and looking frantically out windows whenever she could as she rushed for the front door.

An Annie shaped shadow appeared outside of the door as she went for her car. As a scentless shadow, the creatures miraculously didn’t notice her. She did not, after all, know if she was as invulnerable as a real shadow, doubly so for her cousins who, by some stroke of fate, were able to fade into the shadows with her. She unbelted Moira-Lee and set her hurriedly in the passenger seat with the duffle at her feet and the seatbelt tightly strewn across her chest. As dangerous as Annie knew it was, she didn’t want to let her cousin out of her sight for a single second as she and her cousins passed back out from the shadows. The quiet snap of Moira-Lee’s belt may have alerted the stalking creatures, but it was the swift whip of her own seatbelt as she pulled it across that beckoned them. With a tire screech, Annie was off, and frantically screamed in her head.

“Maurice, where are you?” she pleaded in loop, hoping the message would reach him.

As she ran red lights again to get to the docks, she saw armed guards, and circled back around, straining her eyes to catch a glimpse of anything that might be out at sea.

She saw a boat approaching shore during her next loop, and pulled over. She pulled Moira-Lee back into her arms while the girl was still seatbelted, and brought the three of them into the shadows again. Now, the car seemed empty, but idling.

“Is that you out there, Maurice?” her mind called. Could he here her? If not, surely he would recognise her car, right?

Cecil Nevverling-Wijgaants
Clinging for Life

As he saw his peers ushered inside by a soldier, Cecil retreated onto the roof for a moment and shivered nervously. He knew he was in no position to provide help, but his curiosity was unsatiated. What was going on? He needed to at least figure something out. He leaned over the edge of the roof and let his neck stretch and dangle down in front of a window. He heard nothing, but saw enough. He saw when they were directed towards the part of the house near the garage. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that there were only a few possibilities. If they were to be shot, it was best to remain hidden. But if they were driving off, Cecil only had one option. He crouched delicate atop the tiles, as if ready to jump, yet simultaneously hesitant, which indeed he was. He waited. He heard a car start, and hunkered down further as he inched towards the edge of the roof. When the van pulled out, he pounced and clung tightly to the top. He wrapped his arms around the roof rigging and gripped it tightly with everything he could.

The beach was deserted, though there were heavy footsteps in the sand leading inland. Tefford perhaps? The creature in the water had left the boat alone as they headed back towards the shore so it was possible it had left the big man alone as well during his midnight swim. It seemed improbable that he had swum this far in such a short period of time, though it was also clear to anyone who had seen him on the boat that Tefford had had powers as well. Exactly what he was capable of though was something of a mystery.

Whomever, or whatever had left the footprints seemed to have been walking with a purpose.

Atalia Bayer

Atalia was the first to react to the thump of something landing on the roof of the van, flinching and covering her head before glancing up as it became clear whatever it was was not about to come clawing through and attack her. Just yet. "Captain Pennel," she leaned forward, sounding a little nervous. She didn't know if he liked or approved of her or not and despite the desperation of their situation that did still matter to her; they'd get out of this at some point and she didn't want him messing with what she had with Rashaad. It was about the only thing that had gone right in the last few months, "Ah.. Sir. Gun? Please."

She held out a hand, for a weapon, motioning with her free one in the direction of the roof, having apparently decided that whatever had landed on the car was probably planning to hurt them. She didn't really know what she was doing with a gun, but she figured she couldn't really miss whatever it was that was on the roof. It didn't have many places to go apart from off the vehicle and that was good enough.

Ascot Rider

Footsteps can be seen on the beach sands, and so the young man, still carrying his ax, began following Tefford's trail, observing how the man's own powers outclassed them all. Ascot Rider kept himself observant, his senses open. Think of this as a hunt, and Tefford as the deer. And any potential intruder...

"Hello? Are you... Is anyone hurt? Is this a classic Ghost Ship Full Of Cursed Pirates situation? You have to tell me if it is!"

A voice. Female. Giving them all away. Ascot whirled towards her... Then decided not to speak, choosing instead to let someone with kinder words deal with this situation. Impatience was his enemy now, especially when people aren't prepared to listen to him... Not that he'd made that easy.

Eren Fritz

Eren nodded, took the revolver and the box, then said, "I know how to use a gun, sir," before following Mr. Pennel out and into the van, where they drove for a while before something landed on top of the vehicle's roof. He was about to shoot the intruder himself before Atalia offered to do it herself, and as gratitude for helping save him, the young man offered the revolver and a few bullets to Atalia, saying, "Here - As repayment for everything."
Sorry for my behavior, P2TM.

"Hello? Are you... Is anyone hurt? Is this a classic Ghost Ship Full Of Cursed Pirates situation? You have to tell me if it is!" A couple people jumped off and Rosie stepped back a little out of instinct, in case she needed to fight back against ghost pirates.

Nikita shook his head as he heard Rosalind say something completely out of the blue, kicking up sand as he walked. He recognized the girl as another of their schoolmates in the high school. She was not particularly of interest to him, not because she was not particularly of interest, but because Rosie was just someone he didn't know very well. She sounded absolutely hysterical though, and it her presence in the beach in midnight was completely out of place. Wasn't it way past her bedtime?

Nikita waved at Rosie, while Erika seemed to be completely ready to pounce with a punch of seawater. "No, no, no, what the heck are you saying?", he said to the girl as he approached. "See? Living flesh and bone. No ghosts here."

His brother was still up there, either way.

Falling Through

As the vehicle began to pick up speed, it became evident to Cecil that, even with his stretchy arms looping around the rigging, he wasn’t going to be able to hold on forever without either destroying part of his arms or letting go. So instead, he decided to take a gamble. He reared his body up, still clinging for dear life, and slammed himself into the roof again. Instead of hitting it, however, he managed to clip himself through the top of the car, as it wasn’t nearly as thick as the average wall of a building. He fell with his entire body into the van, grunting in pain as half of his gut hit the second seat row, while his legs fell onto whoever was in the middle back seat. He made a weird, almost squeaky noise as his shoulder hit Rashaad’s chair, and then his face hit the floor of the car. He quickly tugged his arms inward around his chest to try and cover it up as he winced and hissed in pain.
